- 0:09strive for excellence in everything they
- 0:10do without our people we'd be nothing so
- 0:13I'm delighted that you're considering
- 0:14joining

- 0:18an organization that's enabling this
- 0:20growth while it's never compromising on
- 0:22our core values nor on our high
- 0:26standards one of the skills we value
- 0:28most at revolute is problem solving the
- 0:31ability to solve complex problems with
- 0:32Simple Solutions forms part of our DNA
- 0:35and this video will give you a great
- 0:37understanding of what to expect in this
- 0:38interview so at this stage you're
- 0:39probably asking how do we use this
- 0:41interview to assess for this skill of
- 0:42problem solving we're looking to assess
- 0:44principally three things people being
- 0:46structured thinkers people who use a
- 0:48data driven approach when coming up with
- 0:50Solutions and people who are able to
- 0:51solve new challenges and new problems
- 0:53that may face as a hypergrowth
- 0:56company we want you to feel really well
- 0:59prepared so what's going to happen well
- 1:02your interviewer is going to log in and
- 1:04introduce themselves they're a senior
- 1:06member of our team and a proven problem
- 1:07Sol already you're in safe hands they
- 1:10might also ask you to introduce yourself
- 1:12think about a two-minute pitch of who
- 1:13you are and what makes you amazing then
- 1:16they're going to introduce the problem
- 1:18and that's all about something that
- 1:19we've either solved before or that's a
- 1:21hypothetical and we're going to ask you
- 1:23to solve
- 1:28it my problem solving interview was
- 1:31quite unique it was a case that I'd
- 1:32never experienced before or an industry
- 1:34I'd ever worked in for me I started by
- 1:36breaking down the problem into different
- 1:38sections and areas and looking at the
- 1:40key data given to me and it felt like a
- 1:42casual conversation that I was having
- 1:43with my interviewer I was always asking
- 1:45questions to Deep dive further into what
- 1:47are the metrics what the actual problem
- 1:49is and how to break it down anecdotally
- 1:51for me to
- 1:53protest so in terms of my experience
- 1:55with the problem solving interview the
- 1:57biggest thing I would say is not coming
- 1:59over prepar
- 2:00the problem solving itself might not be
- 2:02related to your normal field the whole
- 2:04point of the exercise is for you to ask
- 2:06those questions start to understand the
- 2:08problem dive a little bit deeper and
- 2:10then start to connect to the dots in
- 2:12terms of bringing forward what that
- 2:13solution might be be confident for me
- 2:16always break down the problems into a
- 2:18strategical method where you could
- 2:20process what is happening and how to
- 2:21deliver and leverage the data given to
- 2:23you to answer the key statement at hand
- 2:26and also not to be afraid of probing and
- 2:28asking further questions to get more
- 2:31information 100% problem solving helps
- 2:33me my day-to-day work quite often as a
- 2:35HR generalist I work with lots of
- 2:37different departments lots of different
- 2:39functions one of the main aspects that
- 2:41I'm involved in is understanding what
- 2:43that problem is asking those questions
- 2:45to dive a little bit deeper into what
- 2:47the impact is on the business what the
- 2:48impact is on the department and then
- 2:50working collaboratively towards what a
- 2:52strategic solution might look for in
- 2:54terms of a business
- 2:56output so what are the critical
- 2:59components to being successful in this
- 3:01interview take control you're not going
- 3:04to get any information that you don't
- 3:05ask for your interviewer is here to
- 3:07facilitate the discussion and to help
- 3:09you ultimately come to a problem
- 3:11breakdown that creates really good
- 3:13Solutions so make sure that you're
- 3:15asking really good robust questions and
- 3:17you're digging really deep via your
- 3:19interviewer be structured when you're
- 3:22looking for that data make sure that
- 3:24you've broken the problem down into
- 3:25component parts you understand what the
- 3:28goal is that you have in mind and that
- 3:29you've gone all the way down into the
- 3:31root cause of each of the component
- 3:33parts that you want to understand be
- 3:37really clear make sure that you have the
- 3:40goal in mind and the why what exactly is
- 3:43it that's driving you to the solution
- 3:45what do you really want to understand to
- 3:47make sure that it's the best solution it
- 3:49can possibly be and remember there's no
- 3:52right way to do this if you need to stop
- 3:54and restart that's absolutely fine and
- 3:56if you feel like you're off on the wrong
- 3:57track come right back onto it don't
- 3:59worry if it's not exactly what you
- 4:01wanted it to
- 4:03be what we look for or observe is a
- 4:06candidate's ability to take a step back
- 4:09um to think about the problem and how
- 4:10they approach it in a measured and
- 4:12calculated way and also that they break
- 4:14it down into its component parts and
- 4:16tackle each of those component parts
- 4:18either sequentially or in parallel uh
- 4:20and finally we observe their ability to
- 4:22sum up or summarize terms of their
- 4:24conclusion and how they've reached that
- 4:26conclusion we see the intersect between
- 4:29har skills and problem solving ability
- 4:31on a day-to-day basis but how we assess
- 4:33those in the intersect is by looking at
- 4:36a skills assessment uh which is specific
- 4:39to a domain or context and also through
- 4:41looking at problem solving which is
- 4:42agnostic or independent of
- 4:45context we need to have highly tuned
- 4:48well-developed problem solving
- 4:49capabilities independent of context or
- 4:51or domain and being able to assess that
- 4:53in a structured and systematic way in an
- 4:54interview allows us to determine whether
- 4:57a candidate is going to succeed in this
- 4:58type of environment
- 5:02once you have all the information you
- 5:04need you can move on to Solutions the
- 5:06best Solutions often feel like an
- 5:08elevator pitch they should be clear well
- 5:11synthesized and can even have a kpi or a
- 5:13numerical value attached to them you
- 5:15should have considered your problem from
- 5:17all possible angles as well so here are
- 5:20our tips for Success bring a pen and
- 5:22paper you're not expected to be a human
- 5:24calculator and you'll find it easier to
- 5:26make notes and remember silence is okay
- 5:29if you need time take
- 5:32it synthesize out loud we want to follow
- 5:35your thought process and how you reach
- 5:37the solution and finally ask as many
- 5:40clarifying questions as you need to be
- 5:42able to get all the information from the
- 5:43problem once we've had a chance to speak
- 5:45with our hiring teams to get back in
- 5:47touch and to think about whether or not
- 5:48you might be the right fit then your
- 5:50recruitment point of contact will be
- 5:52straight back in touch we really hope
- 5:54that problem solving gives you a nice
- 5:55little slice into what life might be
- 5:57like solving problems at revolute and
- 5:59hopefully we'll be welcoming you to
- 6:00revoluta really soon
