- 0:27Good evening. They received their
- 0:29judicial nominations from the president
- 0:30during a ceremony at the palace. Karol
- 0:32Nawrocki emphasized that the ceremony
- 0:34took place before—that is, in the
- 0:36presence of—the President of the
- 0:38Republic of Poland. In doing so, he
- 0:40alluded to the dispute over the
- 0:41Constitutional Tribunal, which divides
- 0:43the government and the opposition in
- 0:44Poland. It has been ongoing for a long
- 0:46time, and the oath taken by Tribunal
- 0:48judge Maciej Berek in the Sejm has
- 0:50fueled the conflict. Reporting on the
- 0:52signal from the palace, Anna
- 0:53Ubianalicka. Mr. Karol Nawrocki.
- 0:55>> Today's ceremony of handing out
- 0:57judicial nominations and the symbolic
- 0:59arrangement of the guests. Right next
- 1:01to the president is Bogdan
- 1:02Święczkowski, who currently leads the
- 1:04Tribunal. It is also he who, with his
- 1:06own body—as this photo shows—
- 1:08prevents the newly elected judges from
- 1:10taking office. This is what PiS
- 1:12politicians say about him: "
- 1:14>> President Bogdan Święczkowski must
- 1:16hold out. An incredibly strong man
- 1:19>> and a man who—as those in power now
- 1:21add—has loyally stood on the side of
- 1:23PiS for years.
- 1:24>> He guards the interests of the party,
- 1:26one opposition party, instead of
- 1:28focusing on his work,
- 1:29>> because although PiS insists today,
- 1:31>> we did not break the rule of law. that
- 1:34Bogdan Święczkowski, elected as a
- 1:36Tribunal judge during their term, is an
- 1:38apolitical lawyer, his biography and
- 1:40television archives point to something
- 1:42else.
- 1:42>> A man of immense personal effectiveness
- 1:44, great strength of will, and
- 1:46determination. That is, after all, how
- 1:48I met him in college.
- 1:49>> Thanks to such support and the PiS
- 1:50banner, Bogdan Święczkowski made it
- 1:52into the Silesian Voivodeship Assembly.
- 1:54>> I only express my satisfaction that
- 1:56such a public organization, such a
- 1:57political party was found,
- 1:59>> to which Bogdan Święczkowski owes a
- 2:00lot. During the PiS era, he became the
- 2:02head of the Internal Security Agency (
- 2:04ABW). He made the decision regarding
- 2:05the detention of Ms. Barbara Blida. He
- 2:08was never apolitical.
- 2:09>> He got into the Sejm from the PiS lists
- 2:11. Here, while picking up his
- 2:12parliamentary package. He did not take
- 2:14up the mandate. He chose the
- 2:15prosecutor's office, which he came to
- 2:17lead thanks to a decision by Zbigniew
- 2:18Ziobro. He resigned when, during the
- 2:20PiS era, he was elected as a judge of
- 2:22the Tribunal, which already included
- 2:24former PiS MPs, former PiS activists,
- 2:26and Julia Przyłębska, called a"
- 2:28social discovery "by the PiS chairman.
- 2:30>> They have this rule. If you are with us
- 2:32, you get a position. If you are with
- 2:35us, you will rule as we want.
- 2:37>> Now, in accordance with the will of PiS
- 2:40, Poland
- 2:41>> prevents judges elected according to
- 2:43the constitution by the current
- 2:44parliamentary majority from taking
- 2:46office in place of those whose terms
- 2:48have ended. Currently, they are the
- 2:50majority in the tribunal, but Bogdan
- 2:52Święczkowski has this message:"
- 2:54>> I am the one who decides who will rule.
- 2:56"
- 2:56>> The prosecutor's office is
- 2:57investigating whether he is breaking
- 2:59the law in doing so. If they decide
- 3:01that he is, a motion to lift his
- 3:03immunity is possible. A decision on
- 3:05this matter should be made by all
- 3:07judges, excluding the one whom the
- 3:08motion concerns.
- 3:11>> I do not hide the fact that it is
- 3:13crucial to unseat those functioning
- 3:15illegally.
- 3:17>> No one will back down here, no one will
- 3:18slow down, because it won't be the case
- 3:20that Kaczyński thinks he is
- 3:21controlling Święczkowski, while
- 3:22Święczkowski thinks he will take the
- 3:24Constitutional Tribunal away from the
- 3:25citizens. But there is also the
- 3:27president, who says no to the changes
- 3:28in the tribunal, claiming for himself
- 3:30the right to decide who can be a judge
- 3:32of the tribunal.
- 3:35>> There is no other mechanism to become a
- 3:37judge than the one to take the oath
- 3:39before the President of the Republic of
- 3:40Poland, meaning in the presence of the
- 3:42president.
- 3:44>> The president handed out judicial
- 3:46nominations today and, incidentally,
- 3:47tried to rewrite the constitution again
- 3:49. When he equates the act of appointing
- 3:51a judge with taking the oath at the
- 3:53Constitutional Tribunal, he is not
- 3:54confusing terms. He is manipulating
- 3:56intentionally.
- 3:57>> Anarchy at its worst.
- 3:58>> The ruling party dismisses it, pointing
- 4:00to the fact that there is a deadlock in
- 4:02the tribunal.
- 4:03>> Poland is waking up.
- 4:05>> For PiS, this is political gold used to
- 4:07mobilize their electorate. Anna
- 4:09Łubian-Halicka, 7:30 PM.
- 4:13>> The dispute surrounding the
- 4:14Constitutional Tribunal is political
- 4:16fuel for Law and Justice. The largest
- 4:19opposition party and the media favoring
- 4:21it, without a shadow of objectivity,
- 4:23turn the situation around, calling the
- 4:25government's lawful actions a coup, and
- 4:27naming a man who attacked a policewoman
- 4:29a hero. About the unscrupulous defense
- 4:33of political gains and the people who
- 4:35put a face to it, Mateusz Dolatowski.
- 4:38>> Greetings to you. Thank you very much.
- 4:42>> This is what reversing concepts looks
- 4:44like. You nailed it.
- 4:45>> PiS turns an aggressor into a victim
- 4:47and a new hero,
- 4:49>> the innocent Mr. Piotr.
- 4:52>> Innocent, really?
- 4:53>> Let's switch to informal.
- 4:55>> Hey, what are you doing? What are you
- 4:57doing?
- 4:58>> For PiS, truth clearly does not matter.
- 5:00>> A clear provocation by the police.
- 5:02Using the police for political purposes
- 5:04.
- 5:04>> Absolutely a provocation.
- 5:06>> Who was manhandling whom?
- 5:07>> Mr. Editor, I will repeat myself once
- 5:09again. Based on those videos, Mr. Piotr
- 5:11was not arrested despite the police's
- 5:13motion. What's more, no measures were
- 5:16applied to him; that does not mean he
- 5:18is innocent.
- 5:19>> Mr. Editor, that is your opinion.
- 5:21>> It is not my opinion, but that of the
- 5:23court, which denied the arrest but
- 5:25simultaneously analyzed those
- 5:26recordings. Quiet.
- 5:28>> And decided that the collected evidence
- 5:30makes the charges highly probable,
- 5:32meaning forcing officers to desist from
- 5:34actions and violating their personal
- 5:35integrity. In the case of the
- 5:37policewoman, it additionally concerns
- 5:39exposing her to loss of life or severe
- 5:41bodily harm.
- 5:42>> You cannot make a hero out of such a
- 5:44person. Piotr W. broke the law.
- 5:48>> PiS deliberately ignores the facts. The
- 5:50police are meant to be guilty. Helping
- 5:52them spread this narrative are PiS
- 5:54media operatives, who will stop at
- 5:56nothing in their depravity.
- 5:59>> This barbaric behavior, these are
- 6:01simply thugs unworthy of wearing a
- 6:02police uniform. Such incitement against
- 6:06officers is absolutely disastrous and
- 6:08simply harms the state.
- 6:10>> These are not journalists, this is not
- 6:11television, this is an incitement
- 6:13machine.
- 6:14>> A narrow-minded man, and it is hard to
- 6:16speak of coincidences here.
- 6:17>> That broad got into the car, that
- 6:19aspirant.
- 6:20>> This is a message calculated to
- 6:21mobilize the hardest core of the
- 6:23electorate. That is why he has returned
- 6:25to the front line,
- 6:27>> that criminal whose name is Tusk.
- 6:30Antoni Macierewicz.
- 6:31>> A picture of misery and despair.
- 6:34Macierewicz used to deal with
- 6:36explosions, today he deals with the
- 6:38constitution.
- 6:39>> The subject has changed, but the
- 6:40mechanism remains the same. Lies.
- 6:44>> PiS is trying to find political fuel
- 6:46that will integrate its voters.
- 6:48>> The Smolensk lie no longer works,
- 6:50because as we hear, Macierewicz has
- 6:52compromised himself in this area. So a
- 6:54new lie is needed. Says a coalition
- 6:56senator.
- 6:58>> And hence this narrative that they are
- 6:59defending democracy at the
- 7:01Constitutional Tribunal. Give me a
- 7:03break.
- 7:04>> In the PiS story, the role of martyr
- 7:06was given to Piotr W. A man connected
- 7:08to the circles of PiS and Gazeta Polska
- 7:10clubs. Here he is in a photo with a PiS
- 7:12MP, who was defending him so much on
- 7:14Saturday.
- 7:15>> He didn't push anyone, so please don't
- 7:19spin such a narrative slandering a
- 7:21person who was helping people and was
- 7:23calm. The attorney was not allowed to
- 7:32see Mr. Piotr as his representative.
- 7:36>> Not you and not him.
- 7:38>> Police officers are being shoved by
- 7:40protesters. A very simple question,
- 7:42Madam MP.
- 7:43>> Shoved by
- 7:47>> I would like you to appeal to your
- 7:48supporters on our camera to stop
- 7:50shoving the police. calling for.
- 7:52>> There was no appeal. Instead, there
- 7:54were more lies and manipulations.
- 7:56Mateusz Dolatowski, 19:30.
- 7:59>> This is 19:30, the main news program of
- 8:02Polish Television. And among today's
- 8:05news is the threat of a new Yalta
- 8:06hanging over the world, and then also
- 8:08about where, how, and for how much to
- 8:10find shelter. The facility is much more
- 8:15resistant than the regulations require.
- 8:19>> In the event of shelling or a drone
- 8:21raid, the people inside are completely
- 8:23safe.
- 8:24>> It is worth knowing where we can go
- 8:26then.
- 8:30>> The Military Gendarmerie has detained a
- 8:32soldier with dual Polish-Ukrainian
- 8:33citizenship who participated in a
- 8:35military reserve training course at the
- 8:37Medical University in Łódź. Several
- 8:39phones, documents, stamps, and a large
- 8:41amount of currency and gold were found
- 8:43on the espionage suspect. He was
- 8:45remanded in custody for three months.
- 8:48He clearly identified himself as
- 8:50someone who recognizes certain types of
- 8:52installations in the Polish army.
- 8:56However, the Military Gendarmerie
- 8:58reacted immediately, and I think that
- 9:00is what we should all care about and
- 9:01look after today, which is vigilance. A
- 9:06trilateral summit over the heads of
- 9:08Ukrainians. Vladimir Putin, Donald
- 9:10Trump, and Xi Jinping at a common table
- 9:12, where there will be no room for
- 9:14Ukraine. A war-ending plan tailored to
- 9:17a new Yalta was reportedly proposed to
- 9:19Donald Trump by Putin during a phone
- 9:21call. And this is another piece of bad
- 9:24news for Volodymyr Zelenskyy following
- 9:26the crisis in relations with the USA,
- 9:28which Russia is ruthlessly exploiting.
- 9:30Kinga Bednarek. This is the moment a
- 9:35ballistic missile hit a school in the
- 9:36capital. That night, Russia sent as
- 9:39many as 16 such missiles into the Kyiv
- 9:42region in two waves. A young girl died
- 9:44because the sirens did not wail and she
- 9:46didn't have time to hide.
- 9:48>> The same situation.
- 9:49>> The situation looked the same as during
- 9:51previous attacks. Back then,
- 9:52information from partners arrived only
- 9:54before the second attack. Basically,
- 9:55the same thing happened that night.
- 9:59>> Kyiv claims that Washington is
- 10:00intentionally limiting intelligence
- 10:02data and the operation of the Starlink
- 10:04system to exert pressure and force
- 10:06Ukraine into concessions in peace talks
- 10:08with Russia. My opinion and that of the
- 10:12generals is that this was a message
- 10:14from the American government.
- 10:17>> In an interview with Bloomberg, he was
- 10:19sharper, saying actions were taken to
- 10:21force Ukraine to surrender, but the
- 10:23Donald Trump administration denies
- 10:25restricting anything. I don't know
- 10:29where Zelenskyy gets such information
- 10:31or why he talks about it in the media.
- 10:33There was no pause. He should focus,
- 10:35like we do, on ending this war. Reports
- 10:39from the Wall Street Journal suggest
- 10:41that during their last phone call,
- 10:43Putin supposedly proposed a meeting
- 10:44with Trump involving China's leader
- 10:46regarding Ukraine, but without Ukraine,
- 10:49to negotiate an end to the war
- 10:50favorable to himself. Trump is
- 10:54reportedly open to the Russian proposal
- 10:56, and the meeting would take place in
- 10:58Chinese Xi'an on November 18. The
- 11:01Kremlin has confirmed this. The subject
- 11:04of such a hypothetical meeting was
- 11:06indeed raised
- 11:08>> and has sparked international concerns.
- 11:10The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry
- 11:12compares the meeting about peace behind
- 11:14Kyiv's back to Yalta.
- 11:16>> The first Yalta recognized Soviet
- 11:17dominance over areas of Eastern Europe
- 11:19that the Red Army controlled. Now,
- 11:21Putin wants as a gift Ukrainian
- 11:23territories he cannot manage to conquer
- 11:25.
- 11:25>> Yesterday evening, Donald Trump made
- 11:27another nod toward the Kremlin. He
- 11:30halted the introduction of new
- 11:31sanctions against Russia provided for
- 11:33by the so-called Lindsey Graham Act.
- 11:35Why?
- 11:36>> My decision regarding Russia is very
- 11:38simple. I am negotiating peace in the
- 11:40war between Russia and Ukraine and I
- 11:42don't want to do anything that could
- 11:44foolishly push Russia away from the
- 11:45negotiating table.
- 11:46>> Ukraine was keen on the introduction of
- 11:48these sanctions. They were supposed to
- 11:50hit the Kremlin's war economy. Kinga
- 11:53Bednarek, 19:30.
- 11:56>> And Moscow's power plays are entering
- 11:58orbit. There is no exaggeration in
- 12:00these words, because a Russian
- 12:02satellite actually approached a radar
- 12:04reconnaissance satellite belonging to a
- 12:05Finnish-Polish company within a few
- 12:07hundred meters, and according to data,
- 12:09it could have been as close as 26
- 12:11meters. Why could this be dangerous and
- 12:13become an element of war with the West?
- 12:15More on that in Marek Smokey's report.
- 12:18>> In space, a distance counted in meters
- 12:21is a hair's breadth. The Russian
- 12:23military satellite Cosmos 2612
- 12:25approached the American satellite
- 12:28Iceye-X 36 at just such a short
- 12:30distance. Such proximity is dangerous.
- 12:33>> One must remember that it is moving at
- 12:35a speed of 7 km/s. In the event of a
- 12:37collision of such satellites, the
- 12:39number of fragments that would appear
- 12:41in orbit could damage all other objects
- 12:43currently in orbit. Such situations did
- 12:45not usually happen, but it is a major
- 12:47problem for the entire space industry.
- 12:49>> There can be no talk of coincidence.
- 12:51This is a difficult and well-planned
- 12:52Russian operation. Experts say.
- 12:55>> These types of situations are
- 12:57relatively new and we are not really
- 12:58prepared for them. We are unable to
- 13:02determine Russian intentions.
- 13:05>> However, one can guess them.
- 13:06>> One can perform an inspection, let's
- 13:08say, an identification of such an
- 13:10object. That means simply by flying up
- 13:14to it, taking photographs, based on
- 13:16which one could then determine its
- 13:18capabilities, and it is also possible
- 13:20to jam communications,
- 13:24>> because the Iceye-X 36 is a radar
- 13:26reconnaissance satellite. Produced by a
- 13:28Polish-Finnish company, co-founded and
- 13:31headed by a Pole, Rafal Modrzewski.
- 13:33However, the satellite is operated by
- 13:35the United States. It can collect data
- 13:37from the terrain it flies over,
- 13:39regardless of weather conditions. The
- 13:40data it provides is likely being used
- 13:43by the Ukrainian military.
- 13:44>> This shows that war is being fought in
- 13:46every domain. Not only on land, in the
- 13:49air, or at sea, but also in cyber and
- 13:52space domains. Today, there is no
- 13:55longer a threat-free zone.
- 13:57>> That is why we are monitoring the
- 13:59situation.
- 14:00>> It is not a Polish satellite, but one
- 14:02belonging to an allied country, and
- 14:04this certainly requires deep analysis.
- 14:07We are following this matter very
- 14:09closely. A Russian satellite adjusted
- 14:11its orbital parameters to, in a way,
- 14:13track ICEYE. Everything indicates that
- 14:16Moscow wants to show it can perform
- 14:18such a dangerous and complex maneuver
- 14:19in space. Getting close enough to be on
- 14:21the verge of a disaster, and if it
- 14:23chooses, to cause one. Marek Smolka,
- 14:2619:30.
- 14:27>> And now, about the storm following the
- 14:29words of the Pentagon chief. US allies
- 14:31had no real influence on operations in
- 14:33Afghanistan, and the participation of
- 14:36other countries in combat was a subject
- 14:38of jokes. Pete Hegseth returns to the
- 14:41narrative about allies staying far from
- 14:43the front lines, formulated earlier
- 14:44this year. During the mission in
- 14:47Afghanistan, 44 Polish soldiers died.
- 14:49Bartosz Filipowicz.
- 14:51>> American Secretary of War, veteran Pete
- 14:53Hegseth, sees the beginnings of the
- 14:55conflict in Afghanistan this way. It
- 14:58was a beautiful sight. 50 different
- 14:59countries contributing to the NATO
- 15:01alliance and the ISAF mission on the
- 15:03ground. Except maybe five of them
- 15:05contributed, or actually, one or two
- 15:07were involved in combat operations.
- 15:08>> Hegseth did not name which countries
- 15:10those were. Over 3,600 coalition
- 15:12soldiers died in the war in Afghanistan
- 15:15. The Americans suffered the most
- 15:17casualties, but 1,160 military
- 15:19personnel from 31 allied countries also
- 15:22lost their lives. Hegseth's statement
- 15:25has already been criticized by London,
- 15:27but the strongest words come from
- 15:29Warsaw, as a total of over 33,000
- 15:31Polish soldiers participated in the
- 15:33Afghanistan mission.
- 15:34>> Tell that, Mr. Secretary of War, to the
- 15:37families of the 44 Polish soldiers who
- 15:39died securing the difficult Ghazni
- 15:41province.
- 15:42>> The Foreign Minister wrote, and the
- 15:44head of the MOD adds:"
- 15:46>> We proved this commitment not with
- 15:48words, but with the blood of our
- 15:49soldiers. "They gave their lives in
- 15:52both Iraq and Afghanistan. In Iraq, we
- 15:55commanded an entire province. In
- 15:57Afghanistan, we had a very difficult
- 15:59mission.
- 16:00>> PiS argues that Hegseth wasn't talking
- 16:02about Poland.
- 16:03>> Maybe he should have specifically
- 16:04mentioned Poland.
- 16:06>> He mentioned two countries, so I am
- 16:07deeply convinced that Poland was among
- 16:10them. But the head of the Prime
- 16:12Minister's office believes that Polish
- 16:13soldiers deserve an apology. It does
- 16:15not befit allies to mock blood spilled
- 16:17together. The Prime Minister's office
- 16:19should not react that way. Says an
- 16:21influential PiS politician.
- 16:23>> At a moment when we are currently
- 16:25negotiating an American base, we should
- 16:27avoid this kind of controversy.
- 16:29>> Poland should not have to guess whether
- 16:31its allies respect it.
- 16:32>> A message is being sent as if we didn't
- 16:34support the mission in Afghanistan.
- 16:37Therefore, there should be a very
- 16:38strong reaction from President Karol
- 16:40Nawrocki.
- 16:41>> However, there is no reaction from the
- 16:43President. There was also no criticism
- 16:45following those words from Donald Trump
- 16:47about NATO allies.
- 16:48>> In Afghanistan, their troops stayed in
- 16:50the rear, far from the front lines.
- 16:52Today, the president did not take the
- 16:54opportunity to address these words as
- 16:56well. In reality, we joked that the
- 16:58ISAF patch meant:" I Saw Americans
- 17:01Fighting. "Mocking the acronym only
- 17:03increased the outrage, especially among
- 17:05the military. it tramples on those
- 17:06graves, it tramples on the memory of
- 17:08those who sacrificed their own lives.
- 17:10>> General Roman Polko was the commander
- 17:12of the GROM unit. he fought in
- 17:14Afghanistan, but also in the American
- 17:16war in Iraq.
- 17:17>> At times, I didn't even know which
- 17:19soldier was a GROM soldier and which
- 17:21was American, because these missions
- 17:23were so deeply intertwined that there
- 17:24was that interchangeability of roles.
- 17:27>> General Jarosław Kraszewski also
- 17:29fought in the Middle East, side by side
- 17:31with the Americans. I don't know of any
- 17:35instance where Americans—I'm talking
- 17:37about American commanders—ever said
- 17:39that a Polish soldier is not brave or
- 17:41avoids combat missions.
- 17:45>> In Warsaw, there is a monument and a
- 17:47wall of memory for those who fell and
- 17:49died abroad. There are also names of
- 17:51those who fell in Afghanistan here.
- 17:53American politicians may say anything
- 17:55for the applause of their supporters,
- 17:57but their words will not erase the
- 17:59memory of the heroes who died fighting
- 18:00for freedom and allied unity. Bartosz
- 18:03Filipowicz, 19:30. Attacks by teenage
- 18:09knife-wielders are a painful lesson for
- 18:11Polish schools. Students entering
- 18:13adulthood, while searching for
- 18:15information, encounter disinformation,
- 18:17manipulation, and conspiracy theories.
- 18:20Laws can regulate our rights and
- 18:21obligations as broadcasters, but the
- 18:23path from an idea to a president's
- 18:25signature is long. A special report by
- 18:28Jakub Korus may bring us closer to
- 18:30answering how to verify information.
- 18:33>> Piastów, Warsaw, Ursus. such violent
- 18:36recordings like this one
- 18:37>> everything in order, you are safe
- 18:39>> which lead to scenes like this one, you
- 18:41did it
- 18:42>> the attack and arrest of a teenage
- 18:44knife-wielder in Ostrołęka is the
- 18:45internet reality our children have to
- 18:47live in
- 18:49>> they are dependent on the information
- 18:51they get and the emotions that drive
- 18:53them from algorithms over which neither
- 18:54they nor we adults have any control
- 18:57>> this is proven by the report presented
- 18:59in the Senate:" Between Fact and
- 19:01Fiction. "Bombarded with trash content
- 19:03on social media, youth are susceptible
- 19:05to conspiracy theories and cannot
- 19:06handle disinformation.
- 19:09>> This is exactly the mechanism described
- 19:11in the report, where they didn't look
- 19:13for information in official sources,
- 19:15but instead shared messages among
- 19:17groups about that alleged" bloody
- 19:19Friday. "
- 19:21>> Facebook, Instagram, X, or TikTok. For
- 19:24over half of young Poles, these
- 19:25platforms are their main source of
- 19:27information. At the same time, they
- 19:29don't know how to verify them. One in
- 19:30five believes that AI tools always
- 19:32provide true information. Parents have
- 19:35no control over this.
- 19:36>> The vast majority of parents in this
- 19:38country have no clue what their
- 19:39children are interested in online.
- 19:41>> In the current information chaos, young
- 19:43people are losing faith in the state
- 19:44and its institutions. The effects are
- 19:46already visible. Only 46%of young Poles
- 19:48believe in democracy. One in three
- 19:50would gladly welcome the rule of a
- 19:52strong, wise leader.
- 19:54>> This unfortunately fits into broader
- 19:57European, if not global, trends of a
- 19:59strong authoritarian culture.
- 20:01>> Extremists are taking advantage of this
- 20:03. At the beginning of this year,
- 20:05Interpol warned that one of the goals
- 20:07of NATO's adversaries is the
- 20:08radicalization of youth. The authors of
- 20:10the report confirm this. Young people,
- 20:12children and teenagers, and teenagers
- 20:14in particular, are very often used by
- 20:16extremist movements, as well as
- 20:17third-party countries, to wage hybrid
- 20:19warfare against the European Union.
- 20:21>> How can this be remedied? Beyond
- 20:22education, systemic changes are needed,
- 20:24including curbing the omnipotence of
- 20:26digital platforms like Meta.
- 20:27>> We see someone showing a child
- 20:29pornography, or someone hurting them,
- 20:30or someone inciting others to death. We
- 20:33must react, as such behaviors are
- 20:34readily available in the digital world.
- 20:38>> So far in Poland, we have managed to
- 20:39ban" patho-streaming "and work is
- 20:41underway to limit the youngest users '
- 20:43access to social media, but a bill
- 20:44enabling the blocking of dangerous
- 20:46content is still awaiting the
- 20:47president's signature.
- 20:48>> The stabber from Przesieka.
- 20:50>> The president will carefully consider
- 20:52every bill; I know one thing, that
- 20:54freedom of speech is a value.
- 20:56>> I do not understand how one can, under
- 20:58the guise of freedom of speech, protect
- 21:00criminals who encourage others to
- 21:02commit suicide, who encourage
- 21:03committing crimes, and who promote
- 21:05content that involves harming children.
- 21:08>> The president has until the beginning
- 21:10of November to make a decision. Jakub
- 21:11Korus, 19:30.
- 21:13>> On the surface, a sports field, and
- 21:15underground, a shelter. Such a solution
- 21:18, in times when security matters become
- 21:20a priority, seems very interesting and
- 21:22is becoming a reality. As many as 1,000
- 21:24people will be able to hide in such
- 21:26shelters. In Wierzyce, Greater Poland,
- 21:28the construction of the first project
- 21:30is being completed, which will
- 21:32accommodate about 200 people. Marcin
- 21:34Wojciechowski. Soon, grass will cover
- 21:36the sand, but the secret of this
- 21:38field's uniqueness lies deeper. A
- 21:40modern shelter is being built
- 21:42underground.
- 21:44>> The Russian president is unpredictable,
- 21:46so we can expect an attack from him at
- 21:47any moment, and it is worth knowing
- 21:49where we can go then.
- 21:51>> In Jeżykowo near Poznań, work is in
- 21:53full swing. These shots are a month
- 21:56apart, but most of the activity happens
- 21:58a few meters below. Above us, it will
- 22:00soon turn green, and the facility will
- 22:02look like an ordinary sports field.
- 22:04Athletes will change here, but in the
- 22:06event of a crisis, over 100 people will
- 22:08be able to take shelter here.
- 22:10>> Safety will be ensured by filtration
- 22:12and ventilation systems, gas sensors,
- 22:14and armored walls tested at a military
- 22:16training ground. Analysis has shown
- 22:20that the facility is much more
- 22:21resilient than regulations require.
- 22:24>> This is the first facility in the
- 22:26country using Dual-Use technology. It
- 22:28is expected to be ready by the end of
- 22:30November. A nearby school, which has no
- 22:32shelter of its own, will also benefit
- 22:34from it.
- 22:36>> Such a safe place is potentially a
- 22:38march to the nearby church in our town.
- 22:40>> This is Gorlice in the Lesser Poland
- 22:42region. Here, too, a shelter for 1,000
- 22:44people is being built under a sports
- 22:46field. It won't gather dust in
- 22:47peacetime either.
- 22:48>> An underground garage will be organized
- 22:50there, which residents will be able to
- 22:52use. So in this way, the facility will
- 22:54be alive and functioning all the time.
- 22:56>> In Toruń, they also have an appetite
- 22:58for a marriage of sports and security.
- 23:00There are plans for a shelter to appear
- 23:02under the new Elana grandstand. during
- 23:05implementation, this will allow funding
- 23:07the investment from both defense and
- 23:08sports ministry funds.
- 23:11>> The government assures there will be
- 23:13money for this and appeals to local
- 23:15officials to remember about shelters
- 23:16during new projects, such as" Orlik "
- 23:18pitches.
- 23:21>> Unfortunately, we have decades of
- 23:23neglect in protective infrastructure,
- 23:25especially shelters.
- 23:28>> There are fewer than 2,000 shelters in
- 23:30Poland. The Supreme Audit Office report
- 23:33shows that 2/3 of them do not meet
- 23:35technical requirements, and modernizing
- 23:37some is unprofitable.
- 23:40>> The process of creating standardized,
- 23:42repeatable facilities is certainly
- 23:43faster and provides us with a supply of
- 23:46new buildings.
- 23:48>> One of the options considered by local
- 23:50governments is also mobile shelters.
- 23:52Such containers can accommodate a dozen
- 23:54or so people. In the case of shelling
- 23:58or a drone raid, the people inside are
- 24:00completely safe.
- 24:02>> The nearest place of shelter can be
- 24:03found in the" Where to hide "
- 24:05application. Marcin Wojciechowski,
- 24:0819:30.
- 24:10>> And do we know how to behave in a
- 24:12life-threatening situation? It is worth
- 24:14finding out. Tomorrow on TVP1 and TVP
- 24:17VOD, there will be a big safety guide
- 24:19test, hosted by Paulina Chylewska and
- 24:22Piotr Jędrzejek. It starts tomorrow,
- 24:24just after 9:00 PM. If not for a
- 24:34certain visit by a world-famous artist
- 24:36to Poland, there wouldn't be a drawing
- 24:38on the wall of a Warsaw apartment block
- 24:40, no film, and no story on 19:30.
- 24:43Picasso's Mermaid. This film is just
- 24:46hitting theaters, but what inspired its
- 24:48creation is worth recalling, because a
- 24:50charcoal drawing in a one-room
- 24:52apartment with a sleeping alcove
- 24:54triggered an extraordinary chain of
- 24:55events, reported by Maciej Gąsiorowski
- 24:57.
- 25:01>> Cheese-shaped stairwells, apartments
- 25:03open to greenery and light. This block
- 25:05in Warsaw's Wola district is an
- 25:07avant-garde piece of post-war
- 25:08architecture.
- 25:09>> This entire housing estate is extremely
- 25:11interesting. In fact, that is why it
- 25:14also interested Picasso.
- 25:16>> The famous painter arrived in Poland in
- 25:181948 for the World Congress of
- 25:20Intellectuals in Defense of Peace. He
- 25:23was shown around this block by a pair
- 25:25of architects, Helena and Szymon Syrkus
- 25:27.
- 25:28>> They brought him here. And he just,
- 25:30well, he drew a small mermaid with
- 25:31charcoal in one of the apartments.
- 25:34>> He literally painted this mermaid right
- 25:36here. Nowhere else.
- 25:38>> It looked more or less like this. This
- 25:40is its recreated modern version on the
- 25:42wall of a building in Warsaw's Praga
- 25:44district. In the late 1940s and early
- 25:471950s, queues formed here of people
- 25:49wanting to see the famous Picasso
- 25:51mermaid, which the left-leaning artist
- 25:53painted in one of the ground-floor
- 25:55apartments. Today, there is no trace of
- 25:58it left here, but it lives on. A legend
- 26:00. The residents of the block don't
- 26:02remember Picasso's mermaid, but
- 26:04everyone knows it was here.
- 26:06>> They probably entered the apartment
- 26:08from that side and it just bothered
- 26:10that lady. She got permission to paint
- 26:12over it because too many tourists were
- 26:14coming.
- 26:15>> Janusz Zaurski's latest film tells the
- 26:17story of the paradoxes surrounding
- 26:19Picasso’s work in Warsaw.
- 26:21>> This whim sparks something much broader
- 26:23. It’s like throwing a pebble, you
- 26:25know, into a lake. A parable about how
- 26:29times change, how our attitudes change,
- 26:31and what is worth carrying over from
- 26:33the past.
- 26:34>> Andrzej Pągowski, creator of the
- 26:36film's poster, deeply regrets that
- 26:38Picasso’s brilliant, albeit
- 26:40spontaneous, graphic work vanished
- 26:42forever in the absurd reality of the
- 26:44PRL era.
- 26:45>> He did it his own way, and he did it
- 26:47masterfully. What I love about it is
- 26:49that he doesn’t give her a sword, but
- 26:51a hammer in her hand. It’s truly
- 26:53beautiful that he simply knows why
- 26:54he’s drawing it in that place.
- 26:56>> Today, in the age of Banksy’s
- 26:58graphics, the original Picasso mermaid
- 27:00would be worth millions.
- 27:02>> An apartment with a Picasso graphic
- 27:04would probably be the most expensive
- 27:06apartment right now. Certainly not just
- 27:08in Warsaw, but in all of Poland.
- 27:11>> The residents of the apartment block in
- 27:13Warsaw’s Wola district are left to
- 27:15enjoy a legend that no one will paint
- 27:16over again. Maciej Gąsiarowski, 19:30.
- 27:22That is true. 19:30. Thank you for
- 27:24joining us. The guest of Justyna
- 27:26Dobrosz-Oracz. In the question of the
- 27:28day will be Bogdan Ziennicki, judge and
- 27:30former President of the Constitutional
- 27:32Tribunal. We will summarize the day at
- 27:3422:30. See you later.
