0:03service i have
0:07had this message since my family took
0:09our vacation while i was in
0:12hawaii i was praying on the
0:16balcony of the condo we were staying in
0:18i felt like god began to deal with me
0:21about the word that i have today and i
0:23was fully under the impression my first
0:25service back that god would allow me to
0:28preach this thought but he has held it
0:32he's held it until this week i felt
0:34released to finish the message and
0:36preach today so i feel
0:39someone is here on purpose
0:42today i'm going to i want to preach a
0:45very specific word as you make your way
0:47back to your seats
0:49but it's it this this subject matter is
0:52something that
0:53stirs up the spirit world
0:57i'm going to preach about pulling down
0:58strongholds
1:00[Music]
1:02specifically i'm going to be preaching
1:03about
1:05the battle that rages in our minds
1:10what about you but
1:12more often than not
1:15the daily fight i have is right up here
1:18[Music]
1:19it's not so much a physical thing
1:23but it's up here in my mind where i feel
1:26like the enemy attacks and i i i say
1:30this that that i want to pray before i
1:32read my scripture and i want to pray a
1:34very specific way today
1:36for god
1:38to work
1:40in our minds
1:45in my years of ministry in my years of
1:47being a lead pastor what i have found
1:49more often than not is i work with
1:52individuals one-on-one what we often
1:54have to fight
1:56is a stronghold
1:58in their mind
2:01but our god is victorious
2:05on all battlefields
2:07including
2:09your mind
2:10so i'm going to pray that god's spirit
2:13does a work at the very beginning of
2:14this message so that you're not
2:16distracted
2:18that you have the ability to to receive
2:21this word today because i feel very
2:24strong there are some individuals that
2:26you are here today because god knew this
2:29word was for you
2:32now i just need a few to agree with me
2:34in prayer that god's gonna do a work and
2:37there is going to be a breaking at the
2:39end of this service because strongholds
2:42are coming
2:43down today
2:45today
2:47today in this place help me pray right
2:49now jesus
2:50[Applause]
2:52god i humbly come before you in this
2:54moment lord i know
2:56what your desire is to do in this place
2:58i submit myself
3:01i pray god
3:02use my voice to deliver your word to
3:04your people your church
3:08the authority that's in the name of
3:10jesus i bind every hindering spirit at
3:13the door
3:15that there would be no distraction in
3:17this place
3:19that there would be no lies believed in
3:22this place the truth would prevail today
3:25here
3:26and god we would see our strongholds
3:28fall
3:29in jesus name we pray
3:32amen
3:34second corinthians chapter 10 if you
3:36would like to turn there in your bibles
3:37it will be on the wall
3:39i would like to say just two quick
3:41things before we launch in this message
3:42number one you want to be here next
3:44sunday for bishop's birthday celebration
3:47it's going to be a great time
3:49to celebrate a great man if you're
3:51looking for him he and sister priest are
3:53down in alabama at the stewards church
3:55there's anniversary service they're
3:57participating in down there but they
3:59will be here next sunday and so happy to
4:01excited to honor our great bishop and
4:04you're going to get to some of you may
4:05not know him very well and i haven't had
4:07a chance to hear him speak we're going
4:09to do a little bit of a history recap of
4:11why he's so important to us at this
4:14church and then we're super excited to
4:17have my good friend brother scott
4:18armstrong is going to be preaching next
4:20sunday here in the service and i know a
4:22lot of you don't know him but he was
4:23here for many years before he started
4:25the daughter work over in mount juliet
4:26and then he got called up to
4:27headquarters in st louis and now he
4:29pastors solid rock church in st louis
4:31missouri but he is excited to be and
4:33we're happy to have him and his sweet
4:35wife going to be with us next sunday and
4:37then i would encourage you if you're a
4:38married couple
4:40you want to be a couple's retreat i know
4:42that picture brother osborne looks like
4:43he's methuselah's younger brother
4:47but i promise you
4:49he is a mighty man of god and he is one
4:52of my favorite couple retreat speakers
4:54this guy will have you in stitches but
4:57he brings such a good word every time so
4:59don't delay the setting is amazing up
5:01there on center hill lake it's a
5:02wonderful venue we're going to feed you
5:04good we have a lot of fun so don't delay
5:06we have limited space we've got some
5:08rooms left available so i would not
5:09hesitate be sure to sign up and bring
5:11your sweetheart and be a part of that
5:13second corinthians chapter 10
5:15verse number three says for though we
5:17walk in the flesh
5:19we do not war according
5:22to the flesh pay attention to what he's
5:23saying here
5:25for the weapons of our warfare are not
5:27carnal but
5:28mighty
5:30in
5:31god
5:32for pulling down
5:35strongholds say stronghold with me verse
5:38number five casting down arguments
5:42in every high thing that exalts itself
5:45against the knowledge
5:47of god bringing every thought into
5:50captivity to the obedience say obedience
5:54obedience of christ i'm going to read it
5:56to you again i'm going to read it in the
5:58new living translation
6:00it's a little bit more of our language
6:02how we speak today so listen to this in
6:04new living verse number three we are
6:06human
6:07but we do not wage war as humans do
6:11we use god's mighty weapons
6:14not worldly weapons to knock down the
6:17strongholds of human reasoning oh my
6:21and to destroy false arguments
6:25we destroy every proud obstacle that
6:29keeps people from knowing
6:31god we capture their rebellious thoughts
6:34and teach them to obey
6:37christ
6:39when i read this passage of scripture
6:42i don't know about you but i immediately
6:44get this overwhelming sense
6:47i'm in a fight
6:49i'm in a battle i don't know how you can
6:50read this passage and not
6:52feel that way and the reality is this we
6:56are in a fight every day of our life
6:58it's the good versus evil but it's a war
7:01that's not fought physically
7:04but it's fought in the spirit
7:07it is a war that oftentimes finds itself
7:11being fought out
7:13in our minds the word that is translated
7:16here in this passage for stronghold is
7:19also translated elsewhere as a castle or
7:22often as a fortress is there in the word
7:24of god and i begin to think about the
7:27great battles and wars that have taken
7:29place in the history of mankind i i love
7:32reading about war and and i find it
7:35fascinating how things play out
7:38during a battle paul is using here what
7:41i would call military language to talk
7:44about a spiritual war that transcends
7:48the natural world when he says things
7:51like i just read to you we destroy every
7:53proud obstacle that keeps people from
7:57knowing god he's talking about an army
8:00that rushes up against and tries to meet
8:03us on the warfare and the battlefront of
8:06our minds i don't know about you but
8:08there are times when i have faced things
8:10and i could i could feel as if the the i
8:13could hear the the enemy's horses just
8:15beating there coming up and and feel the
8:17the army shouting raging against me as i
8:20was trying to do my very best to stand
8:22firm and what i knew was truth and what
8:25i knew was true yet i seemed to be
8:28having an overwhelming feeling as though
8:30i was seeking uh sinking down as if hope
8:33itself was being pulled out of my life
8:36it's a feeling that i don't like to
8:37experience
8:39when i read this when i read what paul
8:41is writing he's he's referring i feel
8:44like to people like myself that are in
8:47ministry who who are trying to preach
8:50the gospel of jesus christ what's taking
8:53place right now in this room while i'm
8:55doing what i'm doing in this moment is
8:58is there is a fight that's taking place
9:01as i am preaching i'm trying to destroy
9:03the argument and every high and lofty
9:06opinion that raises itself up against
9:08the knowledge of our god we we are
9:11trying to take those things into
9:12captivity bringing them into obedience
9:15to god that's what's taking place right
9:17now in this room
9:19you may not be aware of it but there's a
9:21spiritual fight that's taking place as
9:23we begin to worship and as we were
9:25singing as the choir was leading us in
9:26worship and as we were engaging with our
9:29god in this present place right here
9:31there was a spiritual warfare that was
9:33moving on because the enemy doesn't give
9:35up easily and he tries to do his best to
9:38get inside your mind and tell you what's
9:40going on in this room isn't real this is
9:42just emotion that's taking place and
9:44there are people around here living in a
9:46hypocritical way and that they're not as
9:48good as they think they are or tries to
9:50convince you why are you here you've
9:52you've disqualified yourself long ago
9:54that god doesn't care about you that he
9:56doesn't love you all of these things are
9:57taking place in the middle of a worship
10:00service this leads me up to the moment
10:02we're in right now that's why we put
10:03such an emphasis on preaching the word
10:06of god because it's in this moment as
10:08the word of god is being preached that
10:10all of a sudden the ability for
10:11strongholds to come down is possible
10:14why because the word of god gives us the
10:17ability to counteract the lies with
10:19truth
10:21that's why it's important to have the
10:23word of god and it being preached in
10:24your life i love this paul is painting
10:26this picture of those who preach the
10:28gospel that we're battling against those
10:30strongholds and when i preach to you
10:32what i'm saying is coming up against
10:34strongholds that are in your mind here
10:36today because there are some of you i
10:37don't know i'm not here to point anybody
10:39out
10:41but there are some of you who have
10:42already had your mind made up before you
10:45came in the back doors of this sanctuary
10:47today that there was nothing going to
10:50change in your life
10:53some of you are here because someone
10:54asked you and you you're just being a
10:57good friend or a good family member and
10:59you came some of you because of a habit
11:02you've got up and you've come here today
11:03but you have convinced yourself that
11:06nothing's going to be any different when
11:07you leave this place today that's a
11:09stronghold
11:11that's what i'm talking about some of
11:12you have said to yourself i've prayed
11:14many times and and i have sought after
11:17the lord and i've tried my best to to
11:19have my life line up with what is good
11:22and what is right only to leave and fail
11:24time and time again today's not going to
11:26be any different that's a stronghold
11:29i'm coming up against strongholds that
11:31are in all of our minds today and i'm
11:33going to counteract those by preaching
11:35to you the truth out of the word of god
11:39if i'm preaching about money what i'm
11:40saying comes against the way you think
11:42your worldview how you see things in
11:44fact while i'm preaching right now this
11:46is going on the word is trying to storm
11:49up against the fortress that has formed
11:51inside your mind is trying to counteract
11:54what culture is saying is right and what
11:56your friends are saying is right in your
11:57environment you was raised in with
11:59sanders right i'm trying to come up
12:00against all those things with the word
12:03of god today
12:06what i know is inside your mind
12:08your thoughts those things are being
12:10held captive and jesus wants to liberate
12:13those things today in your life his
12:16desires to come into your mind and to
12:18counteract those worldly views those
12:20opinions those social exposures and to
12:22take them captive to lead them into the
12:24stronghold that is the truth that is in
12:26jesus christ when he said amen and was
12:29being preached that up on this rock i'll
12:31build my church and the gates of hell
12:34will not prevail against it
12:37i'm preaching
12:38against strongholds by placing your
12:41thoughts inside the safety of the will
12:43of god where they can be transformed
12:46where they can be renewed so that you
12:48take on the mind of christ in your life
12:50and that that point you can truly begin
12:53to live according to his purpose
12:57listen to this definition
13:00stronghold
13:01is a persistent state of mind that is
13:04manipulated by our enemy or others to
13:07control your behavior
13:11see the enemy knows if i can ever get in
13:13their mind
13:14if i can ever get them to doubt if i can
13:17ever get them to second guess for just a
13:18minute i got them i got them in that
13:21moment if i can get just a toehold just
13:23a little bit right there just a beach
13:25head inside there that would cause them
13:26to think maybe miss just maybe it's not
13:29completely true and i've got them going
13:31backwards think about this
13:32with me for just a minute this all
13:34started in the garden of eden
13:37this all started with the enemy
13:39that serpent that that smooth talker
13:42came in and and he did not outright take
13:45and form his own opinion instead he
13:48caused them to question god's words
13:52just by simply rearranging the phrasing
13:55of a sentence caused them to second
13:57guess is god really something i can
14:00trust this boggles my mind they had had
14:03no other encounter in the entirety of
14:06the human race
14:07no reason to question that god was less
14:10than truthful in everything that he had
14:12said but yet somehow the enemy caused
14:15them to have a moment of doubt
14:18and in that moment a stronghold was
14:21formed
14:22and mankind fell
14:24and that enemy
14:26continues to do the same thing
14:28today
14:30today
14:32to cause you to second guess
14:34in your mind
14:35we could start with many things i can
14:38name off stuff that gets on all of us i
14:41could talk about anger or i could talk
14:44about having a a a a state of mind in
14:48which
14:49everything you look at seems like it's
14:50impossible but but even if you've
14:53undergone behavior modification which
14:57really is just a way of controlling
14:59yourself in the public eye what happens
15:03when you get stressed
15:04what happens when you get frustrated
15:06what happens when things are going out
15:08of control in that moment we often often
15:11find ourselves resorting back to our
15:13base form of coping mechanisms so just
15:16because you learn how to behave in
15:18public doesn't mean that in private
15:20you're any better than you ever was
15:23see i'm not talking about behavior
15:24modification because behavior
15:26modification doesn't get me anywhere now
15:29now please listen to me there's a lot of
15:31a lot of positive talks that are going
15:32on today all around our city there's a
15:34lot of places that'll have a moment of
15:36worship in god and there'll be a man or
15:38a woman who'll stand behind a lectern or
15:40a pulpit and they'll they'll give you a
15:42little positive reinforcement and and
15:44make you feel good in a moment about
15:46yourself but i'm here to tell you it
15:48takes more than just me telling you it's
15:50going to be okay
15:51it takes more than me just pumping you
15:53up just a little bit and giving you a
15:54few candy stick verses you can take with
15:56you and you can glue on the dashboard of
15:58your car i'm here to tell you we're in a
16:00spiritual fight and we're against an
16:02enemy who's really good at his job who's
16:04not necessarily intimidated by you
16:07unless you learn how to take your
16:09thoughts captive unless you learn how to
16:11take what the good good book says to you
16:13the whole book not just a verse or two
16:15that you understand the mighty god in
16:17christ and you understand the authority
16:19that's in the name of jesus that you
16:21understand that god puts his power
16:23inside of you not just so that you speak
16:25in tongues but that you can live an
16:27overcoming life no matter what hell
16:30tries to throw at you you have the
16:31ability even if you sing by yourself
16:34you're not alone your god stands there
16:36with you fighting
16:39to break
16:40strongholds
16:42anyone here know what i'm talking about
16:45anybody in here been good for a few
16:46months
16:48and then somebody looked at you funny
16:53somebody had
16:55the audacity to cut you off in traffic
17:00some
17:01barista messed up your drink
17:05and before you know it
17:06your good behavior
17:08fell apart
17:10and you find yourself almost as if
17:13you were not even the same person
17:15losing your mind for a minute does
17:17anybody know
17:18what i'm talking about for some here in
17:20this room you've changed up all the
17:22edges around your castle and you've
17:23cleaned up and dressed up and it looks
17:25good from the inside but that persistent
17:27stronghold inside your mind is holding
17:29you captive from any real change
17:32it's not just about looking the part
17:35hello
17:37it's not just about knowing how to
17:40behave in public
17:42because all those things can be taught
17:45but they don't take away strongholds in
17:48your minds
17:49they'll keep
17:51you
17:51pinned down that persistent stronghold
17:55inside your mind is holding you captive
17:57from ever ever being any real change in
18:00your life and as soon as things don't go
18:02well as soon as life gets a little bit
18:04rocky the reality of that stronghold
18:06comes crashing down and you find
18:08yourself falling back into that same pit
18:11time and time again it could be the pit
18:13of anger the pit of depression the the
18:15pit of lust or pride or envy or jealousy
18:17or fear or that stronghold of alcohol or
18:20drugs or sex or pornography if that
18:22stronghold stands in your mind it has a
18:24way of dominating the entirety of your
18:27life
18:30you cannot leave it there because it
18:31doesn't just stay in one area
18:34it doesn't stay neatly tucked away and
18:36as long as i don't walk to that area of
18:38my mind i don't have to worry about that
18:40it creeps into every aspect of your life
18:43that's why it's important that you
18:44identify where the stronghold is and you
18:47take measures to counteract that
18:48stronghold because if you don't i
18:51promise you it'll bring your life
18:53crashing down all around you
18:58strongholds
19:00are put in very strategic places
19:03they're built to consolidate control
19:06over entire regions
19:08when they would build castles way back
19:10in olden days they would find key
19:12strategic locations to place those
19:15things
19:16the position and their goal was to
19:19dominate the entire region when you have
19:21a stronghold in your life it doesn't
19:23just dominate one behavior
19:26it will ladies and gentlemen spill into
19:28the other areas of your life because the
19:32way our mind works everything is
19:34interconnected so a stronghold in one
19:38area will show up in other regions of
19:40your life
19:41think about this with me the drug addict
19:44the drug problem turns into being a
19:45faithful to the family problem into a
19:47late for work problem into a lying
19:49problem into a stealing problem into a
19:52and it goes on and on and on it never
19:55just stays in one spot that stronghold
19:57is put there by the enemy because he
19:59knows if i can put it right there it has
20:02the ability if they don't take care of
20:03it to dominate the entirety of their
20:06life
20:07that's why you have to do something we
20:09all know that this is true
20:11think about the stronghold of lying
20:16what about those people who are addicted
20:17to lying
20:19i recommended that book last month by
20:21john mark cohen live no lies i don't
20:22know how many people have read it but
20:23it's a phenomenal book
20:26how that our culture embraces and
20:29admonishes lying
20:33after all isn't that what social media
20:35portrays
20:37you and i all know that that picture
20:39that gets posted every 25 minutes
20:42is not a capture of their real life
20:46because we've all been there as we took
20:4875 pictures to get the one picture that
20:51looks perfect and that's the one we want
20:54to represent why doesn't everybody just
20:55post real life
20:58well your guts hanging out and your hair
20:59is not writing the kids are acting like
21:01complete fools
21:04why does anybody post those pictures
21:06because i'm going to tell you why that's
21:08what your life's like
21:10and that's what my life is like
21:12it's just all messed up
21:14but yet we want to portray
21:20and we all look and everybody's like oh
21:22look at that and then everybody else is
21:24like man why can't i be like the islands
21:27why can't i be like so and so wow i
21:29can't because their life is just
21:31perfection
21:35they don't live in 115 bring gale lane
21:36do they
21:38no
21:40you see where i'm at
21:42and before you know it lying takes over
21:44and nobody's truthful anymore
21:47you know when's the last time you just
21:48admitted you had a bad day
21:51what we do in the south how you doing
21:52i'm doing good yeah you're doing good
21:54man you're limping your car's on fire
21:56um that's hard yeah yeah we good pretty
21:59good because that's what you do in the
22:00south you just polite
22:03the truth is we don't want to know about
22:05your problems
22:06and this vicious cycle it's a stronghold
22:09it messes with us culture's embraced it
22:11it's pushed us on us and guess what the
22:13enemy's doing yes he's just dancing in
22:15the background going i got him i got him
22:18i got him i'm got him they're living
22:19this fake life i've got him
22:22i'm here to preach to somebody today
22:24that things aren't going perfectly is
22:26there any imperfect people in the room
22:28today because if there's some imperfect
22:30people i got a message for the imperfect
22:32people today that we serve a perfect god
22:35who was a perfect sacrifice who did a
22:38perfect thing on calvary's hill he died
22:41a perfect death so that i have the
22:42ability to live an overcoming life that
22:45i have a opportunity and you have an
22:48opportunity to have a relationship with
22:50a god who's willing to step down in the
22:52mess of your imperfection
22:55and pull you back up to where he whoa
22:59anybody ever had a stronghold in your
23:02life
23:09listen to me
23:12when you can break a stronghold in your
23:14mind
23:15it liberates an entire region
23:20it's not just one area it affects
23:22everything in the negative but breaking
23:24it affects everything in the positive
23:26it'll set
23:28you free
23:30it has a much further reach than you
23:32have ever realized let's go back
23:35to people who are bound by things
23:37whatever it is
23:39bitterness of jealousy or lying or or
23:42anger or whatever it is it liberates you
23:45to have the ability to be kind and
23:48tender and joy and love and all these
23:50things are being held captive
23:52right now
23:53and for some of you it has been i'm
23:55talking to somebody right now i'm
23:56feeling so strong in the holy ghost
23:58somebody it has been years since there's
24:00been genuine joy inside of you somehow
24:03the enemy has backed you into a corner
24:05and placed you in in a stronghold and
24:08convinced you just because of the things
24:10that are not right in your life that god
24:12doesn't love you he's not concerned you
24:13look around and see other people that
24:15seem like everything they touch and
24:16their lives are perfect and perfection
24:18and the enemy loves to pounce on those
24:20moments and tell you look god doesn't
24:22care about you it's never going to
24:23change your kids are not going to be
24:25right your marriage is going to be
24:26messed up the job's never going to come
24:28through your health is never going to be
24:29any better than it is right now lie lie
24:33lie lie lie lie the devil is a liar he
24:37can't say anything but a lie
24:41if his mouth is running he's lying so
24:44whatever the opposite is true
24:48if he says it can't then it can
24:51if he says it's always going to be broke
24:53get ready get ready it's fixing to be
24:56healed
24:57i'm telling you he cannot tell the truth

25:06i'm way behind in my notes
25:14we got to learn how to identify
25:15strongholds in our life
25:17kind of slow down and teach for a minute
25:22you got to learn how to identify i'm
25:24going to give you some some some
25:25techniques here and how you can identify
25:28if you're a notetaker i encourage you to
25:29take notes
25:32rifle through your neighbor's purse
25:33right now get a piece of paper out
25:39we got to learn how to figure out where
25:40the strongholds are
25:43because it's more than just
25:44acknowledging i got a stronghold
25:46but you need to identify with it because
25:47if you can't identify it you can't take
25:49care of it
25:53for whatever reason
25:55at our house we've had
25:58an in
26:00just an insane amount of water leaks
26:03come to find out we had some bad piping
26:04it was just like it was one of those
26:05things you fix this problem and go this
26:06way and it pops down down here you're
26:08going to fix it around the pop then to
26:10the point you're just like
26:13one point i'm like let's just dig a well
26:15in the backyard we don't need water we
26:16need to bring in the house
26:17they did it for years this is getting
26:18outhouse and we'll go
26:22now here's the deal i'd get the letter
26:24from the water department that would
26:26tell me
26:27i had a leak
26:28or their word is we have noticed you
26:30have had over 24 hours of activity
26:33which means hello dummy you got a water
26:35leak unless that got the faucet on
26:36nobody's noticing
26:39now
26:39it's one thing for me to say i have a
26:41leak
26:43but it doesn't do me any good so i'll go
26:44find where the leak is
26:46okay so it's not just identifying we
26:49have a stronghold but we need to figure
26:50out where that stronghold is okay so i'm
26:52gonna give you some techniques and how
26:53you can find how to identify your
26:56stronghold you all ready
27:00number one
27:01you need to make up your mind
27:04now what i mean by this let me let me
27:06unpack this
27:07you came into this world
27:10with some stuff already programmed on
27:12your hard drive
27:16everybody with me
27:18like it was already there
27:20you didn't ask for it it's like when you
27:22go buy a new laptop and you open it up
27:23and inside this thing like why is that
27:25on there
27:26why well i didn't ask for that
27:28well it was just it came pre-packaged
27:30you came pre-packaged with some stuff
27:33already there
27:34think about this
27:35now i chasti and i've been blessed we
27:37have three daughters
27:39and each one of them is unique in their
27:41own way
27:42so what works with one doesn't work with
27:44the other
27:45doesn't work with the other it doesn't
27:47because they they came pre-hardwired
27:49with some things in them and they and
27:50it's not all it would be great if there
27:52was little cookie cutters
27:54you know but they're not they're what
27:55works this is they're different how many
27:57you've had multiple kids and know that
27:58to be true
27:59yeah that's right and you're just like
28:01lord help us if you don't believe god
28:03has a sense of humor have kids
28:05just just have kids
28:07it's proof god has a sense of humor
28:11you come in this world with stuff
28:12already there you already have
28:14personality traits you already have
28:16tendencies you already have things that
28:18you're drawn to things that are there
28:19all right they're already hardwired
28:21there they were they were with you
28:23from the beginning tendencies are a
28:26world's full on embracing right now the
28:29feelings we have feeding we were born
28:30and we have these feelings already you
28:32know it starts little bitty a little
28:34bitty
28:35now our world is big on embracing
28:38and allowing from the youngest of age in
28:40society to be able to decide everything
28:42that's good and right in their life
28:46i'm sorry
28:47i'm sorry
28:49that this doesn't doesn't go very well
28:52okay now remember i'm talking about
28:53things that are already there
28:56i'm going to come back to it but they're
28:57they're already there
29:00this can be very difficult to break
29:02because they've been there from the
29:04beginning
29:05look at your neighbor say they're hard
29:08they're hard
29:09but they can be broken by god's help
29:13okay so that's that's number one number
29:14two
29:17moods
29:19ooh
29:21anybody ever been in a mood
29:24some of you've been in the mood for 12
29:25years
29:28these are partly shaped by your nature
29:31we just talked about that but they're
29:32also partly shaped by your nurture
29:35let me explain
29:36the way you were raised
29:39the environment that you grew up in
29:40plays a huge part into the strongholds
29:42and how they get formed in your mind
29:46some of it is the way you came into the
29:47world already pre-programmed some of it
29:49was what happened as you were being
29:51nurtured
29:52the people around you how they took care
29:54of you did your parents allow you to get
29:56mad and stay that way
29:58did they allow you to be depressed and
29:59not care about you was your dad an
30:01absent man was your mom an enabler in
30:03your life these things could strengthen
30:04already natural strongholds that you may
30:06have been born with
30:08so that's the second one third one
30:10memories
30:13things that have happened to us we have
30:14these memories from the past like
30:16bitterness or unforgiveness or
30:18resentment or fear or shame or guilt and
30:20we could go on but something happened to
30:22you and and whatever it was that
30:24happened to you
30:25forms a stronghold there that you
30:27struggled with from your the entirety of
30:29your life it could have been it could
30:31have been an abuse situation it could
30:33have been something that happened to you
30:34you didn't ask for it you you were just
30:36living your life and and whatever the
30:38case may be there's there's so many
30:40scenarios that happen into those
30:41memories that are there some people
30:43struggle with that because of what is
30:45happening that memory is always there
30:49number four mindsets
30:52these are strongholds that come to us
30:54from the collective mind of our society
30:58from our culture from environments in
31:00the
31:01quote-unquote social norms this is where
31:04prejudice come from okay
31:07they didn't come from births
31:09no but it comes from being exposed in
31:11environments where things have been you
31:14know you think about this there's the
31:15one time there was the north versus
31:17south and then there was the english
31:19versus the irish and then there was you
31:20know the yankees versus the red sox and
31:23tennessee versus alabama or whatever
31:26and you're the product of that
31:27environment there it comes onto you see
31:29here's the deal people the the the
31:31prejudiced stuff is not in you from
31:33birth you take you take two kids from
31:35two different races two different
31:36colored kids and you put them together
31:37as babies and play and they just play
31:40there's nothing there because they're
31:41just innocents it's the kids nothing
31:43nothing's been inundated then then but
31:45it happens in society these things
31:47happen to us in our world and we got to
31:48be careful because sometimes the things
31:51that we've been around environmentally
31:53in our society have have all of a sudden
31:55come on us and it causes us to push
31:57everything else out it's a stronghold
32:00you guys still with me yeah everybody
32:02okay all right
32:04so that that mindset we got to be
32:05careful with
32:07last one in this is you got to learn to
32:08identify the because there can be things
32:11like mind-altering substances
32:14these addictions these habits
32:17and they cause the way you think to be
32:19skewed
32:21and these lead to some of the most
32:22difficult strongholds to conquer
32:26first one i want to talk about here is
32:28food
32:32boy it's quiet now isn't it
32:35like man pastor long as you're talking
32:36about drugs and anger and lust and all
32:38that but why you got to get on food
32:41well because we're fat
32:46we're literally eating ourselves to
32:48death
32:50i'm sure my wife's phone's blowing up
32:52right now
32:53are you all texting her but look here's
32:55i love you enough to tell you
32:57you need to be better
32:59we need to be better at what we're doing
33:02because we're addicted to food
33:06i'm gonna leave that alone so you don't
33:07throw anything at me
33:09well i ask you a question has your has
33:11your mood ever been altered by food
33:14yeah and what do we do we put words on
33:16it like i'm hangry
33:18you're hangry
33:20yeah i'm so hungry i'm mad about it
33:25you know if that's a real thing you
33:26might have an issue
33:28just maybe
33:31there are some people in this room today
33:33who are dominated by what they eat
33:36you got to break that stronghold
33:39alcohol drugs prescription drugs hello
33:44it's an epidemic we're dealing with
33:45right now in our country
33:48now i'm talking about strongholds y'all
33:49still with me i'm talking about
33:50identifying strongholds of there i know
33:52we've got quite a total just going to
33:53tease for man i'm going to get to
33:54preaching in a second but i got to teach
33:56we got to learn to identify these
33:57strongholds of the air we got that i
33:59have to that i got to make up my mind
34:02that i may it may have been come
34:04pre-programmed this way but if it goes
34:06contrary to this
34:12i may have a mood
34:13i may have memories i may have a mindset
34:15i may have alternating substances that
34:17are trying to take me one way or another
34:19but i gotta make sure that myself is not
34:21getting hooked to something that's less
34:23than true
34:25that's why you need the word of god
34:26there so let's let we've learned that
34:29those are some ways those are some areas
34:31you've got to learn to identify what is
34:32it what is that stronghold is it
34:34attached to one of these things or is it
34:35multiple of those things because i got
34:36to break that stronghold how do we break
34:39those strongholds today part of what we
34:40have to do is learn to retrain our
34:42brains
34:45and say we'll go back to this i'm going
34:47to tell you right now
34:49just because you feel that way doesn't
34:51make it right
34:55is that okay for me to say that
34:57just because you feel strongly about it
34:59doesn't make it right
35:00just because you've been feeling that
35:02way since you were old enough to
35:03remember how you felt
35:05doesn't
35:06make it
35:07right
35:09you can feel
35:11since the time you were two
35:14that you could fly
35:18i mean you can believe it with every
35:19fiber in you that you you you can fly
35:23and you can get up on the pinnacle of
35:24this building and you can flap them arms
35:27as much as you want to flap them but i
35:29promise you honey when your feet leave
35:31the roof
35:33you will fall
35:35and unless you call the fall flight
35:37you're not going to fly
35:40i don't care how much you believe in
35:41everything that's really silly pastor
35:42kevin i know that's silly and so many
35:45other things are silly too
35:48they don't make sense but our culture is
35:50coming in and embracing i'm telling you
35:52these are strongholds that the enemy
35:56has placed inside
35:58our society
36:00to shape and form how we think and it
36:04all goes contrary to what the word of
36:06god says
36:10that's why you need to have a checks and
36:13balance system in your life
36:15and part of that is going back to what
36:18does the word of god say about this and
36:20if god's already spoke about it there's
36:22no point in us arguing about how you
36:25feel how i feel what your opinion is
36:27it's still relevant today i'm telling
36:29you none of us i'm gonna get into it
36:30just a minute and preach a little bit
36:31but i'm telling you your feelings will
36:33mislead you and the majority of that are
36:36in this room today know that to be a
36:38true statement your feelings have misled
36:41you multiple times
36:44so be careful how you get your emotions
36:46wrapped up into the decisions you make
36:48and the words you use because how you
36:50talk about it matters
36:54it does how you speak about things
36:56matters because here's the deal the end
36:58of me listen to me listen to me i'll
36:59give you i'll give you some insight here
37:00the enemy it does not have the ability
37:03to read your mind
37:05he cannot read your mind but he can read
37:08your lips
37:11he can read your post
37:16that's why you need to be very careful
37:17about what you utter out
37:21because you end up giving it a whole lot
37:23more power than it was ever intended to
37:24have
37:25because the enemy is listening to what
37:27you say he is watching what you do and
37:30the moment he feels like um there's an
37:32area right there
37:33there's a place i can post a little
37:35doubt just put it right there i can
37:36cause them to have a little insecurity a
37:38little bit of this before you know it
37:40you have found yourself locked up
37:43inside your own mind
37:51and that's where
37:52you find yourself man i feel the holy
37:54ghost right now strong
37:55whoo i'm fighting a spirit right now
37:57that's where people get into their
37:59identity crisis
38:04is because the enemy comes in and
38:05convinces you you are not
38:08who god says you are
38:10you are what you feel right now
38:15and my feelings
38:19left unchecked will trump reality
38:30let me get back over here because i'm
38:31going to get ahead of myself and if i
38:32get out of order it may get messed up
38:36did you know that your mind is both
38:37physical and spiritual
38:40this is why physical substances can
38:42control your spiritual mind
38:46can they'll have a direct effect on you
38:47they'll come against you they'll they'll
38:50fight against where you are
38:52so we're going to look at
38:54allowing god to work in us because we
38:56have to make some physical changes along
38:58with god making spiritual changes in us
39:01to overcome these strongholds
39:03now let me say this i have been in
39:05services where i've seen people come in
39:07here that they were
39:09just out of their mind on what on some
39:11substance it could have been alcohol
39:12could have been drugs i mean they are
39:13just out
39:15and then they get into the presence of
39:16god and all of a sudden god will bring
39:19clarity to them i've seen it i've seen
39:22it but here's the deal on that
39:25god will never force you to do anything
39:30so he's not going to force you to be
39:31sober
39:34if your desire is to stay in an altered
39:36state you'll stay in an altered state
39:38but what i've seen is individuals come
39:40in and they are so
39:42sick and tired of the circumstances
39:45they've been in even though they are in
39:46an altar state the inside man is crying
39:49for help and god will meet them
39:51where they are now many of you have been
39:53in this services you've seen that happen
39:54boom god will just do it right there
39:55right but the person has to be there has
39:57to be desire in them it's the same way
39:59with demon possession if a person don't
40:00want to be free to their demons
40:03yeah
40:04now does god have the power to cast him
40:06out he sure does but this person's got
40:07to want it
40:10gotta want it you gotta be wanna be free
40:12to those things
40:13so
40:14there there's there's an aspect so
40:15here's the first thing
40:17faith has to operate in this room now
40:19i'm
40:21my holy ghost meter's on 10 right now i
40:24feel like god's going to do a powerful
40:25work in just a minute but i got to
40:26convince some people in this room that
40:28that's the truth
40:29now for some of you i have to convince
40:31you you're on board with me you was on
40:32board the moment i walked up you didn't
40:33know i was going to say he's on board
40:34with me and i'm thankful for that
40:36but there are some in this room i'm
40:37having to convince that god wants to do
40:39something that's not just preacher talk
40:40it's not just why pastor kevin's going
40:42to say that because he has to say that
40:43if he didn't say that then it wouldn't
40:44work
40:47no it's true
40:50the only limitations to god are the
40:52limitations we put on god
40:54in our minds
40:56we will limit him
40:58so faith has to operate today faith must
41:03we we we must allow god to use our faith
41:07they got to be connected so here's
41:09here's one of the first things you got
41:10to do you need to recognize that
41:12strongholds
41:13in your mind are spiritual
41:16it's a spiritual thing
41:17all right you have to acknowledge that
41:19then why is that important because
41:21acknowledging that means there's that
41:23it's beyond my control
41:27it's a spiritual thing it's beyond me
41:30it's bigger than me if it's a physical
41:32thing i could take care of it but it's
41:33not a physical thing it's a spiritual
41:35thing so strongholds are spiritual
41:38what's going on in your mind is not just
41:39going on in your mind your mind is
41:41subject by you by your spirit our enemy
41:43the adversary of our soul knows exactly
41:45what buttons need to be pushed right now
41:47and he's pushing him in this room i feel
41:48it
41:49he's pushing the doubt button
41:52he's pushing the override button you're
41:54wanting you want to let some things go
41:55right now but he's pushing the button
41:59he knows where we are the most
42:01vulnerable
42:02and it's not a coincidence when you try
42:04to get right things go wrong
42:07do you notice that
42:08moment you try to get right man it just
42:10all breaks out why because the enemy
42:12knows
42:13then he knows he can't just let you go
42:15out here and i think that's why a lot of
42:16people have the mind said well i've come
42:18down i've come down you guys okay
42:20the guy we come down to the altar and we
42:22we we we we confess all of our faults
42:24and everything we feel good we feel like
42:25we can just go back out there and we're
42:27not gonna have to we're not gonna have
42:29to change anything about our lives it's
42:32just gonna be grand
42:34i'm telling you
42:37we can't cast you out of your flesh
42:41right that means we'd all walk out of
42:42here a bunch of bones
42:44that's kind of funny with the truth i
42:46can't cast the flesh out of you
42:48and your flesh still does a whole lot of
42:51determining what you will and won't do
42:52unless you bring it under subjection to
42:54the spirit
42:56y'all okay
42:58there's not a coincidence when trying to
43:00get right things wrong do not be
43:01ignorant concerning these things the
43:02devil's going to fight you
43:05that's why having the word of god in you
43:06is so very very important
43:08it's important i'm going to come back to
43:10this in a minute but the word of god is
43:11important in fact say that out loud the
43:12word of god
43:14is important you got to have it in your
43:16life you can't be ignorant you're going
43:18to contradict or you're going to
43:20counteract all of the lies whoo big word
43:22there you're going to counteract the
43:24lies that come unto you by by going back
43:27to the word of god
43:29the enemy is going to lie to you
43:31but the word works
43:34the word
43:35works so we've got to identify that
43:38they're spiritual we gotta also identify
43:40the fact that strongholds are personal
43:44you notice that they're deeply rooted in
43:46who you are
43:48oftentimes these things have been there
43:49for years
43:50they've become a part of your persona a
43:52part of your personality they're who you
43:54are it's almost as if you have taken on
43:56the identity of those things there
43:59sometimes people know about them
44:00sometimes it's a very private thing but
44:02you know about them
44:03you've convinced yourself it can never
44:05be any different because that stronghold
44:07has convinced you of that remember it
44:08never stays in one place it goes into
44:10other areas
44:11it's always trying to control entire
44:14regions of your life you must be willing
44:17to change some of who you are
44:22strongholds
44:23they come at you they come against your
44:25will your emotions and your thoughts
44:29your will your emotions you're never
44:31just going to attack one area
44:34they're never just going to attack your
44:35thoughts and leave your emotions alone
44:37they're not they're going to do that
44:38they're always there and then because of
44:39that you must attack all three areas
44:41your emotions your will and your
44:43thoughts you got to get in there and be
44:44sure you're counteracting what the enemy
44:46is trying to do you must be willing to
44:48change some of the things about you you
44:50cannot just say well i can't help being
44:52the way i am i was just born that way
44:55well you need to be born again
45:01be born
45:02again and let god's spirit fill you and
45:06help you be obedient remember i talked
45:08about obedience it's obedience bring it
45:11back and be obedient
45:13in order to break some strongholds it
45:15will change your personality it will
45:17change your habit pattern it will change
45:19how you process information
45:22do i have just one person today just one
45:25who would say
45:26that i had to change the way i thought
45:29about life when god got a hold of me
45:32because had i stayed in that mindset i
45:34would have been stuck there and he
45:36didn't just have one person that had to
45:38change
45:39now before that encounter with god
45:41nobody can convince you it was any
45:42different but you come into an encounter
45:44with god and god changed how you thought
45:46let me tell you if you had an encounter
45:48with god that was just a momentary
45:49experience you didn't get the god i had
45:52the god that is in my life it changed
45:55how i think how i talk what i do what i
45:58say how i behave
46:00it's a constant process with him it's
46:03not just a one and done it's not just i
46:04had that in my life it's not just i
46:06attend church because that's what i'm
46:08supposed to do because i'm a christian
46:10but every week of my life i'm trying to
46:12be a better man than i was the week
46:14before every day i get up i have to
46:16determine god i'm going to live for you
46:17today because if i don't make my mind up
46:19i'll slip back into the old man that was
46:22there and i would drift back into those
46:24things that god took me out of
46:30third thing strongholds are social
46:34ladies and gentlemen it matters who you
46:35hang out with
46:38it matters
46:39it matters what christians you hang out
46:42with
46:43is that all right if i say that i'm
46:45going to say it anyway
46:46it matters what christians you hang out
46:48with because just somebody says they're
46:49christian doesn't mean they're obedient
46:51to god's word
46:53i mean you know if this is just about
46:55having a bumper sticker on your car and
46:56a t-shirt that you wear
46:58that i don't think that qualifies you as
47:00being a christian just because you
47:02actually know how to say a prayer that
47:03doesn't mean you're a christian
47:05that means you may know some things
47:06about god but that doesn't make you a
47:08christian what kind of fruit are you
47:10bearing
47:12yeah how obedient are you to the
47:13scriptures that is there it's not going
47:15to judge and we're not going to be
47:16judged mattered off of our good deeds
47:18this isn't about getting into the boy
47:19scouts or the girl scouts
47:22this is about what thus saith the word
47:24of god what does he ask us to do you
47:26know we're being obedient to those
47:28things that are there
47:30strongholds will tell you it's about how
47:31you feel well i'm just doing okay i mean
47:32i feel like i've talked to people all
47:34the time like how do you know well i
47:35just feel like i'm good with god you
47:36feel like you're good with god
47:39you feel like you're good with god i
47:41feel like
47:43i mean
47:44i feel like i'm seven foot tall
47:47well you're just being silly
47:51how can you prove that i'm not seven
47:52foot tall
47:54well we'll get a tape measure out oh
47:56well it makes the tape measure right
47:58yeah you see it
48:00this is being silly now i get into these
48:02conversations with people
48:04i talk about what and now i say but the
48:05word of god says well i mean i mean i
48:07know that's what the bible says but
48:10hang on
48:11you know what the word of god says but i
48:13don't know what you say after that
48:14conjunction after that it doesn't matter
48:16because you have just nullified
48:17everything you should say i know what
48:18the word of god says
48:20and just stop there
48:23because anything you add after that is
48:24your opinion
48:27i've got an opinion you've got an
48:28opinion but it doesn't really matter
48:30what does this say
48:32what does this say because at the end of
48:34the day i'm not going to stand in front
48:35of him and say well god i just felt like
48:36you should do this i just felt like you
48:38know you ought to i was being pretty
48:40good i mean i didn't kick any cats today
48:42and
48:45that's a hard thing
48:47for some of us
48:52seriously
48:54i'm sticking on this point for a reason
48:56because i'm telling you
48:58the majority of christianity right now
49:00won't preach this way
49:07and jesus himself is pretty specific
49:10about broad is the way that leads to
49:12destruction and narrow is the way that
49:14goes to heaven
49:15now if jesus said there's a narrow gate
49:18that means getting in is kind of tough
49:21and anybody that's praying in a really
49:22broad picture i'm a little leery about
49:24that
49:26because those are red-lettered words
49:30still okay
49:31yeah
49:32all right
49:34second corinthians 6 14
49:36do not be unequally yoked together with
49:38unbelievers
49:41now this is where a lot of pastors are
49:43like well when that that guy wants to
49:46date that girl and she's just not living
49:48right i'm going to pull that out there
49:49and be like do not include yoke one
49:51another
49:52now is that applicable in that situation
49:54yeah but it's got a lot more meaning
49:56than
49:56that all right pastor kevin if i'm not
49:59going to be unequally yoked together
50:01unbelievers then how can i be a witness
50:03glad you asked you guys are smart good
50:05congregation today good questions
50:09you can be a witness
50:12it doesn't say anything about you being
50:13a witness
50:15what does it say right there what is the
50:16terminology somebody tell me what it
50:18says you're not to do
50:20be unequally what
50:22bound
50:24with an unbeliever
50:26now what i see is a lot of people want
50:28to keep a friendship that is detrimental
50:30to them
50:32and here's the deal
50:34it is hard for you in a spiritually
50:36inferior position to bring somebody up
50:40if you're going to be yoked to somebody
50:41you need to be yoked to somebody who's
50:42spiritually
50:44superior to you
50:46because those superior people will pull
50:49you to where they are
50:51but if you're in a vulnerable state
50:53if you're if you're drifting away from
50:55the truths that are in the scriptures
50:56that you should be anchored to what
50:58happens is you yoke yourself to an
51:00unbeliever they'll pull you away
51:02they will they'll pull you out and
51:04before you know it you're way further
51:06out in the deep water than you ever
51:07dreamed you would be
51:09and i promise you i've seen this happen
51:10more often than i care to you cannot win
51:13someone to god from a spiritually
51:15depleted state
51:17it's an impossibility you can't
51:20four i'm getting ready to come to an end
51:21in fact musicians can already come in
51:23because i know god is desiring to do
51:25something today number four
51:28we're talking about breaking the
51:29strongholds
51:30strongholds
51:32are habitual
51:35their habits
51:38which means they're not going to be
51:40broken overnight
51:48for some of you
51:50the moment i said that you resisted me
51:55some of you have habits that must
51:58be
51:59broken
52:01they must
52:02be
52:03broken and the only way you can break a
52:05habit is to form a better habit
52:11for some of you you you have a coping
52:13mechanism that you go back to and it's
52:15this habitual thing that you can if
52:18if everything is perfect joey if it's a
52:20perfect world and i don't have any
52:21stress in my life and everything is
52:23going good
52:24then i can maintain that level
52:27but but here's here's the deal guys you
52:29don't get to live
52:30in a bubble
52:33okay it'd be great wouldn't it be great
52:35if for just a thought for just a minute
52:37if we could just just hang out in here
52:39just be here right
52:40just be in this place because his
52:42presence is here and we we have a lot of
52:44liberty in this room and a lot of
52:45freedom it'd be great we feel good here
52:47you know we you know everybody looking
52:49nice and we just but here's the deal
52:52we can't stay here
52:55okay we were never meant to stay here
52:59we were meant to go out there
53:01now what we try to do in church is we
53:03come back in here so that we get a
53:05refreshing and a renewing and an
53:07encouragement
53:08that we together we come in and and and
53:11if if i'm low today but you're doing
53:13okay then you you bring me strength and
53:15encouragement you you help me out and we
53:16both live together better
53:19that's what we're doing here we're
53:20learning from the word of god we're
53:22being taught but we're never meant to
53:24stay here we have to leave
53:27but here's the problem is is we get in
53:29this place right here and we'll make the
53:30commitments anybody made a commitment in
53:33the house of god you didn't keep i'll
53:34bring both my hands and at least one
53:36foot up on that all right i have
53:38it's this pastor talking to you i have
53:40made commitments to god that i didn't
53:41keep and it broke my heart
53:45poured my heart out at an altar
53:48told god i'm not going to do that again
53:51and i went out and did it again
53:54and after a while it messes with you i
53:56know i know in my own mind there were
53:58things that i struggled with early in my
54:00walk with god that i felt like that i
54:02just wish were different i wish were
54:05and somehow convinced myself that i was
54:07just always
54:09going to be that way
54:14habits are hard to break
54:17but you got to be intentional
54:20there were some things i had to change
54:21about my routine
54:24see when i came in and just gave me a
54:26little transparency here with me when i
54:28came in
54:29and really really really acknowledged
54:31the call of god in my life when i was
54:33just coming back to him i laid a whole
54:34lot out on the altar before him because
54:36i realized that if i don't do a
54:38wholesale change
54:40i'm never going to be any different
54:43so i had to bring it all in i had to
54:44bring in my pride
54:48i had to bring in my relationships
54:51i had to bring in my habits i had to lay
54:52it all out there and said god whatever
54:55of this that is no longer good for me
54:57please help me
54:58please help me walk away
55:01and there are some people in my life
55:04that i am an acquaintance with
55:08but we're no longer friends
55:10because i couldn't they were no good for
55:11me
55:13they kept they kept pulling me back to a
55:15place where i didn't belong
55:17there there were some things i just
55:19couldn't do anymore
55:20for some of you it may not be a big deal
55:22but for me i couldn't do it anymore not
55:24and be in a good place i couldn't and
55:26god was revealing those things to me now
55:27here's the deal i came down
55:30saying to god lord if i don't wholesale
55:33change not just part
55:35then this stronghold is going to take me
55:37down
55:38i'm never going to be what i know you
55:40said i could be
55:41[Music]
55:45strongholds
55:47my last one they're so spiritual
55:50they're broken by declaring the gospel
55:53of jesus christ
55:54by going back to the word of god
55:58when i think through what jesus did in
56:00the
56:01in the garden as he's facing the enemy
56:03and
56:04i'm late like two minutes you keep
56:06playing doing a good job
56:09i go back to the garden as he's he's
56:11been faced with the devil himself
56:15everything we know this most everybody
56:16knows every every instance they what
56:18what what was jesus's response to to
56:21every lie the devil said well how did he
56:22do it what'd he respond with
56:24it is written
56:26it's written he went back to the word of
56:28god
56:29now i'm going to sell this with you and
56:30i know we're on we're not on a high i'm
56:32not like on 11. i'm not swinging off
56:34that light bar up there but please know
56:35god's fixing the move all right
56:37are you all ready we're going to end and
56:39there's going to be a deep move with god
56:41here because there's going to be
56:41strongholds broken in this place but
56:43here's the deal
56:44there's something about
56:47going back
56:48to the word of god
56:51the psalmist said in psalms 119 your
56:53word have i hidden in my heart
56:56that i might not sin against you
56:59it's part of my daily prayer is this
57:01verse as i pray
57:03because right after i pray i read my
57:05bible and my prayer is this god i'm
57:07fixing to read your word will you please
57:10let me hide it in my heart so that i
57:12might not sin against you i'll also go
57:15further down in psalms 119 which is the
57:17longest chapter in the bible to verse
57:18105 when it says your word is a lamp to
57:20my feet
57:21and a light to my path god please allow
57:24your word to illuminate where i'm
57:25walking today
57:27so that i can see so that i can avoid
57:30all of the all of the potholes and the
57:32pits that are around me god please help
57:34me because the word of god is important
57:37you know we job gets preached about a
57:39whole lot and he went through an un just
57:42unfathomable and you can't even think
57:43about what he did but he said this in
57:44job 23 verse 12 i have not departed from
57:47the commandments of his lips i have
57:49treasured the words of his mouth more
57:51than my necessary food have you
57:56placed the word of god in your life
57:59above

58:10malakai's he's writing
58:13malachi this old prophet
58:16he's writing because he's foreseeing
58:17things that are taking place in his lo
58:19in in in in history is that god moves on

58:25speaking directly to us he says this in
58:27verse number six for i am the lord
58:29i do not change
58:31therefore
58:33you are not consumed and it hid me as i
58:36was sitting
58:37on that
58:38condo balcony
58:41god
58:42can't
58:44change
58:46because if god changed it would nullify
58:50the word
58:52his word is forever settled
58:55he's the same yesterday today forever
58:58he's not going to change and it's
59:00because of that knowledge right there
59:02i'm not consumed
59:04what am i saying it's that knowledge
59:06that brings me hope
59:09that my god is true what he said will
59:11come to pass
59:13what what he has spoke through his word
59:15to me is the truth that i can build my
59:18life on and and if he says that i can be
59:21free if if those strongholds can be
59:25broken down then those things can't
59:27happen in my life so go back to my
59:28opening scripture when i read paul again
59:31we walk not in the flesh nor do we war
59:34against the flesh for the weapons of our
59:36warfare are not carnal but mighty in god
59:38for pulling down strongholds
59:46i want to cast down imaginations

59:50catching arguments and every high thing
59:52exalted itself against the knowledge of
59:54god and bringing every thought into
59:55captivity to the obedience
59:58of god
1:00:02i know this
1:00:04without any doubt in my mind
1:00:07that there are several in this room
1:00:10who have been held captive in your life
1:00:13by a stronghold that he desires to break
1:00:18but the breaking of that stronghold is
1:00:20going to change who you are
1:00:24and your hesitation
1:00:25is that truth
1:00:28[Music]
1:00:31let me say it this way maybe this is the
1:00:33better way to say it
1:00:38there are some of you today that can
1:00:39leave this place
1:00:43completely victorious
1:00:45and freed from a stronghold if you will
1:00:48come down here with this mindset god i
1:00:51don't want to go back and be who i have
1:00:53been
1:00:55now that's not just you saying it it's
1:00:57your mind made up i don't want to go
1:00:59back and be that per if you're willing
1:01:02to do that then that stronghold will
1:01:03break but if there's any hesitation what
1:01:06i mean by that so please listen to me
1:01:08and this is all i'm going to say and i'm
1:01:09going to make the altar call
1:01:12that means when you leave
1:01:16very well it may mean the majority of
1:01:18the way you've lived you may never live
1:01:20that way again
1:01:25you may never
1:01:26live that way again because you can't if
1:01:29you constantly stay or go back to that
1:01:31that stronghold keeps its domination in
1:01:34your mind
1:01:36but if you're willing
1:01:38who
1:01:40if you're willing to step out today
1:01:43there's a god who's willing to meet you
1:01:45and he's willing to break that
1:01:46stronghold and break that mindset
1:01:48otherwise
1:01:49you may have to deal with this i don't
1:01:50know how much longer
1:01:52but this altar is open right now they're
1:01:54going to sing
1:01:55[Music]
1:01:57i feel like there's somebody in this
1:01:59room
1:02:00who's so desperate for a change
1:02:03who's so desperate for god to do
1:02:05something in their life
1:02:09who's willing to step out push past a
1:02:11little bit of shame push past a little
1:02:13bit of guilt and allow god the god of
1:02:16all the creator of all to make a change
1:02:18in your life yes
1:02:21church it's prayer time right now
