Prosecution nears a wrap in Nancy Brophy murder trial — Transcript

2. 0:02expected to rest its case tomorrow they
3. 0:05just finished up for the day so they'll
4. 0:07start at 9am tomorrow and today they
5. 0:09called up a couple more witnesses who
6. 0:12were family friends of the brophies and
7. 0:14things got emotional as one witness
8. 0:16spoke about the day dan brophy died
9. 0:20well i gave her a hug
10. 0:23and
11. 0:27told her how sorry i was and i was
12. 0:30really sad obviously i'm sorry emotional
13. 0:33testimony this morning from a friend of
14. 0:36the brophy family the trial of nancy
15. 0:38crampton brophy continues with the state
16. 0:41calling up more witnesses the couple's
17. 0:43hairstylist michelle revenue said she
18. 0:46read about a shooting at the oregon
19. 0:48culinary institute in the sunday paper
20. 0:51then she called nancy to find out what
21. 0:53happened then nancy broke the news to
22. 0:56her asked what happened
23. 0:58and um i knew he had been there to teach
24. 1:01a class and i said was
25. 1:04somebody there you know when he got
26. 1:06there
27. 1:08you know was it open or whatnot and she
28. 1:12had said that um well the garage door
29. 1:14was open
30. 1:16and that um the janitor who usually
31. 1:20works saturdays
32. 1:22uh had taken that day off so he wasn't
33. 1:24there another witness and family friend
34. 1:27of the brophy's tanya medlin says she
35. 1:29worked with dan brophy the friday night
36. 1:32before his death she says she was on the
37. 1:34oregon coast the morning she found out
38. 1:36dan had died she visited with nancy the
39. 1:39day of the murder and asked her bluntly
40. 1:42what happened oh i asked her
41. 1:44i my exact words were where the hell
42. 1:46were you when this was happening like i
43. 1:47literally said it like that in front of
44. 1:49everybody
45. 1:50because i was just
46. 1:51my god i still can't believe it the
47. 1:53state provides a picture of nancy
48. 1:55crampton brophy as a woman who lied to
49. 1:57police about where she was the morning
50. 2:00her husband died and she stood to gain a
51. 2:03significant amount of money from her
52. 2:04husband's death the defense says the
53. 2:07state is presenting a circumstantial
54. 2:09case while avoiding the fact that the
55. 2:11brophys were deeply in love and she
56. 2:13would not have killed her husband
57. 2:17and then one witness went on to say that
58. 2:19she asked nancy crampton
59. 2:21several times about the investigation
60. 2:24with police but she never got any
61. 2:26updates from nancy about information on
62. 2:29who killed her husband
