  2. 0:04confidence is your best accessory
  3. 0:06there is nothing else you need if you
  4. 0:08the only thing you need to wear well is
  5. 0:10your confidence
  6. 0:12confidence truly is the key to
  7. 0:15getting ahead in life if you believe in
  8. 0:16yourself the world will believe in you
  9. 0:18because perception is reality
  10. 0:22i don't think confidence is something
  11. 0:24that
  12. 0:25you are born with i don't think
  13. 0:27confidence is it's a skill set
  14. 0:30and i had no confidence growing up as a
  15. 0:33child
  16. 0:34i had very low self-esteem
  17. 0:37i was a kid full of fear insecurities
  18. 0:41somebody who had very low self-esteem
  19. 0:43didn't believe in myself at all
  20. 0:45the only thing that i knew that i had
  21. 0:49was the ability to work bloody damn hard
  22. 0:52and that's the only thing that i did
  23. 0:54confidence is something i taught myself
  24. 0:56over the years i started becoming okay
  25. 0:58with who i am i became the best version
  26. 1:01of me
  27. 1:02and then i sort of said i'm okay you
  28. 1:05know i'm all right
  29. 1:07your flaws are fine
  30. 1:09no one is perfect none of us we all have
  31. 1:13bad days we're all gonna feel like
  32. 1:15sometimes you're all gonna have bad days
  33. 1:18and that's fine
  34. 1:20we have this crazy standard especially
  35. 1:22with the internet where everything has
  36. 1:24to be perfect all the time and we have
  37. 1:26to look perfect or to behave perfect we
  38. 1:28have to say the right things everyone
  39. 1:30screws up and that's all right
  40. 1:33laugh through it don't take yourself too
  41. 1:34seriously and make sure that you don't
  42. 1:36live for someone else's validation
  43. 1:38it's your validation
  44. 1:41that you need
  45. 1:42be yourselves guys it's great to be you
  46. 1:47whatever you might want to be
  47. 1:49that is the best version of you so you
  48. 1:52drop stuff around or you are clumsy and
  49. 1:54you're a klutz but
  50. 1:56it's you
  51. 1:57and that's what makes you special
  52. 2:00we are going through our problems as a
  53. 2:02world right now because that's what we
  54. 2:04do because we put people in boxes
  55. 2:06because we stereotype because we say
  56. 2:08everyone who's like this will be like
  57. 2:10that but not in my experience
  58. 2:14nothing is a straight line
  59. 2:16and we need to stop looking at the world
  60. 2:18like that
  61. 2:20diversity shouldn't even be a
  62. 2:21conversation it should be normal
  63. 2:24when we look around this room there's
  64. 2:26not one kind of person i don't even see
  65. 2:29one kind of person in one row
  66. 2:31and that's our normal
  67. 2:33we've forgotten that eventually we're
  68. 2:36all human
  69. 2:37it's this one little planet that we have
  70. 2:39which in this big universe is really
  71. 2:42tiny
  72. 2:43so we should stop giving ourselves so
  73. 2:45much importance and saying oh well
  74. 2:46you're better than me or i'm better than
  75. 2:48you we all are basically humanity and
  76. 2:51let's like go back to that and bring
  77. 2:54compassion and kindness into beauty and
  78. 2:57not be so hard on ourselves or other
  79. 2:59people
  80. 3:01in life you know there are moments when
  81. 3:02you stop and ask yourself
  82. 3:04how did i get here like why am i
  83. 3:07standing here
  84. 3:09and i find myself going back to the
  85. 3:11beginning
  86. 3:13back to my roots
  87. 3:14i was born to incredible parents
  88. 3:17amazing parents
  89. 3:19both my my parents were very progressive
  90. 3:22in their mindsets especially coming from
  91. 3:24a country at that time which india was
  92. 3:27which was a little bit like this you
  93. 3:28know a woman's life sort of
  94. 3:30ends when she gets married because after
  95. 3:32that yeah you can think about
  96. 3:34progressive families will tell you yeah
  97. 3:35you can achieve whatever but your
  98. 3:37milestone is to get married my mother
  99. 3:39still says she's like you know you get
  100. 3:41married the day you find someone who
  101. 3:42will appreciate how hard you have worked
  102. 3:44to get where you are who will appreciate
  103. 3:46the sacrifices you made and that's the
  104. 3:48man you will get married to and if you
  105. 3:50don't doesn't matter
  106. 3:52we're in the world of science can still
  107. 3:53have babies
  108. 3:55and i was like what kind of mom says
  109. 3:57that
  110. 3:58but the idea was the philosophy behind
  111. 4:00it that it didn't define me
  112. 4:03and it's so important for us to be able
  113. 4:05to empower each other
  114. 4:07in everyday life we don't have to
  115. 4:10conquer the world you don't have to be
  116. 4:12the only person who reaches space like
  117. 4:14you don't have to have crazy wild
  118. 4:16ambitions you just have to find your
  119. 4:18power and to say that oh i can do this
  120. 4:21too
  121. 4:22i don't have to
  122. 4:24create like this crazy opportunity for
  123. 4:26me to thrive you can thrive in anything
  124. 4:28you choose just have to find that
  125. 4:30confidence within yourself
  126. 4:33life can never be safe
  127. 4:35and if it's safe
  128. 4:37it's not worth living
  129. 4:38it really isn't
  130. 4:40you have to take risks risks are so
  131. 4:43important in evolution
  132. 4:45playing it safe
  133. 4:46yeah you can have an existence but
  134. 4:48you'll never be someone who's a
  135. 4:50trailblazer
  136. 4:53the world is your oyster if i a girl
  137. 4:56from a small town like barely
  138. 4:59from an army officer's family middle
  139. 5:01class background can today be a movie
  140. 5:04star giving an inspirational speech to
  141. 5:06you today be
  142. 5:08debuting in america as an international
  143. 5:10pop star can't any one of you do it
  144. 5:13if i can do it
  145. 5:15you can do it right
  146. 5:17the world is your oyster
  147. 5:20finding our own confidence no one is
  148. 5:22going to give that to you no one is
  149. 5:24gonna tell you here's an opportunity
  150. 5:27go make something of yourself you're
  151. 5:29gonna do it for you
  152. 5:32i just love growing like i said i think
  153. 5:34growing is a very important thing and
  154. 5:35when i was very young i started working
  155. 5:37when i was 17 years old
  156. 5:39[Music]
  157. 5:40you need to be responsible for your
  158. 5:42finances and be financially independent
  159. 5:45and that kind of really stuck with me
  160. 5:47i just
  161. 5:48love what i do and i'm good at it and i
  162. 5:52love the ability to wake up in the
  163. 5:54morning and say oh my god i get to go to
  164. 5:56work i mean how many people
  165. 5:58in their lifetimes do a job
  166. 6:01that they love doing most people do it
  167. 6:03for survival
  168. 6:04kitchen we need to feed our families we
  169. 6:06need to survive but to wake up with you
  170. 6:08know my my feet and my fingers tingling
  171. 6:12and say wow i have this to do i have
  172. 6:13that to do today
  173. 6:15and
  174. 6:16it's an amazing feeling and i don't take
  175. 6:17it for granted
  176. 6:20i'm a high achiever i've always been a
  177. 6:22high achiever i'm someone who
  178. 6:24is goal oriented i i like challenges i
  179. 6:27like growth i like evolution i like
  180. 6:29knowledge so when you put all of those
  181. 6:31things combined i have a lot more i want
  182. 6:34to do
  183. 6:35i've had multiple things that haven't
  184. 6:37worked out in my life i mean i i just
  185. 6:40don't talk about them i'm not someone
  186. 6:41who
  187. 6:42rests on my failures i believe that they
  188. 6:45are natural part of life and failure
  189. 6:47will happen to every single person and
  190. 6:49what you do after failure that makes you
  191. 6:52the person that you will become
  192. 6:55you know i've always said that i'm
  193. 6:56ambitious and i i have that's my sense
  194. 6:59of purpose is my drive is my
  195. 7:01contribution to the arts
  196. 7:03that's where i feel like i'll have most
  197. 7:05purpose and you know that's just my
  198. 7:07quest is always that to push the
  199. 7:08envelope
  200. 7:10i don't really have regrets but i have
  201. 7:12to say i think
  202. 7:14my biggest achievement i feel is
  203. 7:16honestly
  204. 7:18the ability to get over my fears
  205. 7:21i'm hugely emotional and i get affected
  206. 7:23by a lot of things and i know i come
  207. 7:24across as this tough sassy witty thing
  208. 7:28and but i do think that is a big part of
  209. 7:30keeping myself protected
  210. 7:32um and surviving i've always had to do
  211. 7:35it for myself there's not been anyone
  212. 7:37who's held a safety net for me in all
  213. 7:39the decisions that i've taken so i think
  214. 7:41my biggest achievement is
  215. 7:43to trust my feet to trust my legs to
  216. 7:46trust my instinct and say even if i fall
  217. 7:49it's okay it'll be my mistake
  218. 7:51there's only one you
  219. 7:53okay because there's no one like you
  220. 7:56and i don't mean the superfluous
  221. 7:58superficial parts
  222. 8:00i'm talking about the core of you who
  223. 8:02you are inside your values your beliefs
  224. 8:04your flaws and once you understand
  225. 8:07who really that person is
  226. 8:10you would have made taken the first step
  227. 8:12in finding your unique self and that is
  228. 8:14the best version of you who am i really
  229. 8:18most often we don't allow ourselves the
  230. 8:20ability to dream beyond
  231. 8:22our imagination we don't allow ourselves
  232. 8:24to think about the future because we are
  233. 8:26afraid of change we are afraid to move
  234. 8:28away from what is familiar
  235. 8:30either that or sometimes you know we are
  236. 8:32too rigid to let our dreams evolve
  237. 8:36loosen up
  238. 8:37you know shake it off a little bit
  239. 8:40change is the only constant thing in
  240. 8:41life and you are never too old or never
  241. 8:44too experienced to learn something new
  242. 8:47believe that you have everything already
  243. 8:50as your brahmastra in your will
  244. 8:52to be able to be and achieve your dreams
  245. 8:55be fearless
  246. 8:57funny thing aren't these opportunities
  247. 8:58they don't come very often
  248. 9:00they come far and few in between
  249. 9:03but when they do do we recognize them
  250. 9:07our job is to recognize them and make
  251. 9:09the most of them i look back on all the
  252. 9:11things that i've done and i marvel at
  253. 9:13the opportunities that came my way
  254. 9:17more like the universe sort of guiding
  255. 9:19me towards these opportunities all i had
  256. 9:21to do was recognize them and make sure i
  257. 9:24worked so hard that i squeezed every
  258. 9:27drop out of these opportunities
  259. 9:30this ladies and gentlemen is called
  260. 9:32drive it's called ambition
  261. 9:35be greedy
  262. 9:36be greedy for your ambitions be hungry
  263. 9:38for it don't live on someone else's
  264. 9:41benchmarks
  265. 9:43i've always believed that you have to
  266. 9:44take risks calculated educated risks
  267. 9:48to evolve because if you've not truly
  268. 9:51explored the full extent of your
  269. 9:53possibilities you'll always remain
  270. 9:55stagnant
  271. 9:57excellence is the pursuit of my life in
  272. 9:59anything that i do my ambition gives me
  273. 10:02purpose and i think purpose is very
  274. 10:04important in life you have to have a
  275. 10:05sense of purpose you whatever that might
  276. 10:07be it could be your children it could be
  277. 10:09your family it could be your career it
  278. 10:12could be anything
  279. 10:14i think my purpose is the pursuit of
  280. 10:16excellence in anything that i do i don't
  281. 10:18like doing anything less than perfect i
  282. 10:21want them to say that i left behind a
  283. 10:23legacy
  284. 10:24i want my kids to feel like you know
  285. 10:26proud to say that that's our mom i want
  286. 10:29people to say that i made a dent in my
  287. 10:31art in entertainment in my profession
  288. 10:35i think people confuse discipline with
  289. 10:37like punctuality sometimes but that's
  290. 10:39not what discipline is discipline is
  291. 10:41being prepared discipline is riaz
  292. 10:43discipline is training discipline is
  293. 10:46learning discipline is knowing that if
  294. 10:48i'm going to do a job i'm going to give
  295. 10:50it my 120 otherwise i'm not going to do
  296. 10:52it
  297. 10:53one mistake can cause a big big
  298. 10:55butterfly effect
  299. 10:58learn to be like what
  300. 10:59adaptable fit into any vessel have a
  301. 11:02sense of calm have a sense of patience
  302. 11:04but ambition is extremely important and
  303. 11:06i don't just say this to girls i say
  304. 11:08this to boys and girls just everyone who
  305. 11:10wants to be able to have a purpose in
  306. 11:12life have an ambition have the guts to
  307. 11:14find your glory
  308. 11:21[Music]
