- 0:00If you have been keen to start a side
- 0:01hustle but have not quite been sure
- 0:02where to start, then congratulations.
- 0:04You have come to the exact right place.
- 0:06My name is Tom and I'm the co-founder of
- 0:08Printroom. And in this series of videos,
- 0:09we are going to talk to you about the
- 0:11concept of selling art prints on Etsy
- 0:13and other platforms through the concept
- 0:14of print on demand. Now, if you've heard
- 0:16of the term print on demand before, it
- 0:18might bring to mind certain buzzwords
- 0:20such as passive income and 10K a month
- 0:22and that kind of thing from loads of
- 0:23online gurus. And now, I know I'm sat
- 0:25here in a professional studio
- 0:26background, so I might seem like one of
- 0:28those kind of characters that's there
- 0:30selling you a course. However, all of
- 0:31the information that we provide
- 0:32throughout these videos is completely
- 0:34free of charge because we do not need to
- 0:36charge for the knowledge. We want as
- 0:38many people printing posters as possible
- 0:39[music] because we are a poster printing
- 0:41company. That is why we give away all of
- 0:43this information for free and why at no
- 0:46stage will you ever be charged for any
- 0:47knowledge. Print was founded 18 months
- 0:49ago by myself, Tom, and my friend Max.
- 0:52We somehow managed to actually build up
- 0:53to a reputable print on demand company.
- 0:55And obviously I'm biased, but I would
- 0:57now say we are the number one option for
- 0:59poster printing in the industry. This is
- 1:01largely because we specialize on posters
- 1:03and framed art prints. [music] In fact,
- 1:04I think we are one of the few print on
- 1:06demand companies that only specialize in
- 1:08posters. That means that they get our
- 1:09full attention and care. And as they are
- 1:11our number one focus, we know what we're
- 1:13doing. We're able to completely dial in
- 1:15and give you guys the best possible
- 1:17offering and service. We've had an
- 1:19absolute blast setting up print. It's
- 1:21been a whirlwind of an 18 months, but we
- 1:23feel like we're just getting going. I
- 1:24think you guys will really enjoy working
- 1:26with Printri to print your orders. We
- 1:28have exceptional customer service, and
- 1:29lucky you, you get to talk to me every
- 1:31day with any questions you might have.
- 1:33We feel very, very lucky to be able to
- 1:35work on Printri each and every day.
- 1:37Especially because we get to do so
- 1:38through things like this where we get to
- 1:40teach people how to sell posters on
- 1:41Etsy. It's very rewarding that most of
- 1:43our customers have come from watching
- 1:45these videos [music] and are now the
- 1:46owners of successful Etsy shops when
- 1:48they previously weren't making money
- 1:49online. So, as I said, we hit 100,000
- 1:51orders not that long ago at the time of
- 1:53recording. The high majority, I would
- 1:55say probably 85 to 90% of these orders
- 1:58came from people that previously were
- 2:00not selling posters. Don't let anybody
- 2:01ever tell you there is such thing as too
- 2:03much competition because these 100,000
- 2:05orders that we've had came from people
- 2:07that have started Etsy shops within the
- 2:09past 12 months. And it really can be you
- 2:11to be the next person getting regular
- 2:12Etsy sales. So, just a few disclaimers.
- 2:15This is not a get-richquick scheme. This
- 2:17does take time and it does take hard
- 2:19work. But I think that shows the
- 2:20legitimacy of this [music] because
- 2:22success never comes overnight. People
- 2:24telling you online that you can make
- 2:25money within the next week doing this
- 2:27thing. Most of the time that's not true
- 2:29and they're just trying to benefit and
- 2:31profit from selling you a course. We
- 2:32don't need to sell the course because
- 2:34this actually works and we make our
- 2:35money from the results. What this is is
- 2:37the process of building a legitimate
- 2:39business of selling posters online.
- 2:41You're going to create an Etsy store
- 2:43that hopefully will then see hundreds if
- 2:45not thousands of sales. But this will
- 2:47only come if you put in the hard work.
- 2:49This is not easy. I would actually say
- 2:51the concept is easy. It is very easy to
- 2:54create a poster and upload it to Etsy.
- 2:56However, it does take hard work and
- 2:58time. You need to have patience. You
- 3:00need to create good products and you do
- 3:02need to upload a lot of them. Now, we
- 3:04here at Printroom are here to help you
- 3:05the whole way. We're going to go through
- 3:07everything that you need to know and
- 3:08we've also built some very cool software
- 3:10that makes the process of uploading
- 3:12posters to Etsy a hell of a lot easier
- 3:14than it ever has been before. But if you
- 3:16put in the hard work and time to this,
- 3:17then oh my god, it can really work. The
- 3:19profit margins of selling posters on
- 3:21Etsy can be awesome, especially now that
- 3:23we have framed prints on offer. Real
- 3:25quick, if you're watching this video on
- 3:27YouTube and have not come across our
- 3:28school community yet, I highly recommend
- 3:30you check that out. It is completely
- 3:32free to join. It is a thriving community
- 3:34filled with people doing the same thing
- 3:35and selling posters on Etsy. You can ask
- 3:38questions, get answers. We have all of
- 3:40these videos in there and more. It is an
- 3:42incredible place to learn how to sell
- 3:44posters and share your journey with
- 3:45other people. I highly recommend
- 3:47checking out the win section where you
- 3:48can see that every day we have people
- 3:50coming through celebrating their first
- 3:51sale, celebrating milestones like 100
- 3:54sales and a,000 sales. It's a really
- 3:56great place to be and a really good
- 3:57thing to check out. So, go take a look.
- 3:59My personal background is also selling
- 4:01posters on Etsy. I've been doing so
- 4:02since about 2022. This is like why we
- 4:05started Printroom from my knowledge of
- 4:06selling posters and that kind of thing.
- 4:0818 months ago, I started three poster
- 4:10shops on Etsy. One has had 3,200 sales
- 4:13at the time of recording. That is a
- 4:14revenue of £60,000. The other has had
- 4:171,700 sales and my third one has had
- 4:191,100 sales. These are all shops that I
- 4:22uploaded posters to 18 months ago and
- 4:24then since then have not uploaded
- 4:26anything. They sit there genuinely,
- 4:28completely passively uh earning me
- 4:30income every single month. Some people
- 4:31that I have taught how to sell posters
- 4:33through this videos have ended up doing
- 4:35better than me.
- 4:36>> [laughter]
- 4:36>> Some people have literally had double
- 4:38the amount of sales since uh we both
- 4:39started our shops. It goes to show the
- 4:42information we provide is so so valuable
- 4:44and if you put the work in, it really
- 4:45really works. We've actually had a
- 4:47couple people be able to quit their jobs
- 4:49to pursue posters full-time, which is
- 4:51insane. So, I'm going to do a quick
- 4:53overview of what is print on demand, why
- 4:55we think posters are the best product to
- 4:57sell, and then why we think you should
- 4:58start out by selling them on Etsy. If
- 5:00you are already pretty confident in how
- 5:02print on demand works and don't need an
- 5:03overview, then skip to this part of the
- 5:05video and go from there. So, print on
- 5:07demand is essentially a form of drop
- 5:09shipping. However, you create the
- 5:10product yourself and that product only
- 5:13then gets printed and exists when you
- 5:15get a sale. So, what we will be doing is
- 5:18creating posters. But when I say
- 5:19creating posters, what we're essentially
- 5:21doing is creating a digital design file
- 5:23on our computer. We're then uploading
- 5:25that digital design file to Etsy as if
- 5:27it was already a made poster. And then
- 5:29when you get a sale, you come to
- 5:31Printrim and we will take your digital
- 5:33file that you have created, print and
- 5:34ship it as a poster and send it to your
- 5:37customer. You then get to pocket the
- 5:38difference between what you charge on
- 5:40Etsy and what the printing cost on
- 5:41Printrimp is. And the profit margins are
- 5:43awesome. There's also some huge benefits
- 5:45to the print on demand model and using
- 5:47Printum. We work with 20 plus printers
- 5:49around the world to ensure that your
- 5:50poster is always printed as close as
- 5:52possible to your customer. This saves on
- 5:54shipping and allows us to offer free
- 5:55shipping and also is obviously good for
- 5:57the environment and customer
- 5:58satisfaction because it means that their
- 6:00poster will be with them as quick as
- 6:02possible. We have all of the major
- 6:03markets covered and this means that when
- 6:05you sell a poster, it is printed most of
- 6:07the time in your buyer's home country or
- 6:10very close to them. This means fast and
- 6:12free shipping, quick delivery times, and
- 6:14it's better for the environment and just
- 6:16overall it's just a better model. No
- 6:18international shipping, no long wait
- 6:20times, no customs problems. A lot of
- 6:22people selling posters on Etsy do the
- 6:24printing themselves and then send it
- 6:25from wherever in the world they are, no
- 6:27matter where their customer is based.
- 6:29This leads to very expensive shipping
- 6:30costs and long shipping times. And think
- 6:32about it, if you're selling a similar
- 6:34poster to someone on Etsy and a customer
- 6:36has to decide between you who uses print
- 6:38on demand and print and can get the
- 6:40poster to them in 3 to 4 days, or
- 6:43someone who is printing in England and
- 6:44sending it all the way to them in
- 6:46Australia, they're going to choose your
- 6:47poster every single time. Print on
- 6:49demand therefore means that selling
- 6:50posters on Etsy can be completely
- 6:52remote. This is how I've been selling
- 6:54posters since I was about the age of 22.
- 6:56I have been living abroad full-time ever
- 6:58since then because of the power of
- 7:00selling on Etsy. I've lived in Thailand.
- 7:02I've lived in India, Vietnam, Mexico,
- 7:05America, all because of selling posters,
- 7:07which is insane to think about to be
- 7:08honest, but it goes to show how remote
- 7:10running an Etsy shop can be. So, just to
- 7:12make it clear again, we at Printroom are
- 7:14the company that will do the printing
- 7:15and shipping of your posters for you.
- 7:17That is why we do not charge at all for
- 7:19any of the knowledge that we are
- 7:20providing. Our school community is and
- 7:22always has been and always will be
- 7:24completely free to join. We don't need
- 7:25to charge for the knowledge because
- 7:27yeah, we make a bit of money when you
- 7:28guys succeed. But the irony is it's you
- 7:30guys that are often making a lot more
- 7:32money because our profit margins are
- 7:34very very small and the profit margins
- 7:35for selling on Etsy can be absolutely
- 7:37brilliant. So yes, this whole course the
- 7:39whole way through and all of the
- 7:41information completely free of charge.
- 7:43So, why do we think posters are the best
- 7:45product to sell for print on demand?
- 7:47Because the benefits that I mentioned
- 7:48from print on demand do extend to a lot
- 7:50of other products, but we think posters
- 7:52are the number one. Obviously, we are a
- 7:54poster printing company, so we're going
- 7:55to think that. But there's a reason why
- 7:56we chose to be a poster printing
- 7:58company. We could have started being a
- 8:00t-shirt print on demand company, but we
- 8:02didn't want to go that route because
- 8:03posters are the best. First of all, they
- 8:05are very, very easy to design. What you
- 8:07see is what you get with a poster. The
- 8:09rectangle that you will be designing on,
- 8:10say, Canva or Photoshop, for example, is
- 8:13exactly what your product will look like
- 8:15when it's printed. This is far easier
- 8:16compared to t-shirts, for example, where
- 8:18you often have to worry about where
- 8:19you're going to place that part of your
- 8:21design. You've got the back prints,
- 8:22you've got things like labels that you
- 8:24need to consider. And that brings me on
- 8:25to the next point of the consistent
- 8:27quality worldwide. As posters are quite
- 8:30a simple product, it really gives you
- 8:31peace of mind that you know that your
- 8:33poster will be printed to a very high
- 8:34standard wherever in the world. If you
- 8:36were selling t-shirts, for example, and
- 8:38you like a certain kind of fabric, you
- 8:39have to coordinate this exact same style
- 8:41of t-shirt across multiple countries.
- 8:43With posters, [music]
- 8:44there's only it can only be so
- 8:46different. You know, at the end of the
- 8:47day, it is a design printed on some
- 8:49poster paper. Now, we do offer framed
- 8:52prints as well, which are an amazing
- 8:53product to offer. The profit margins are
- 8:55very, very high when it comes to frame
- 8:57prints as customers will pay a lot for
- 8:59them on Etsy. But here at Printroom, we
- 9:02are all about quality. So, we make sure
- 9:03that our quality of frames are the exact
- 9:05same. worldwide and they are of a very
- 9:07very high standard. The same for our art
- 9:09prints. We use a minimum of 200 gsm
- 9:11poster paper all across the world. Feel
- 9:13free to take a look at my shops that I
- 9:15showed earlier and check the reviews. As
- 9:17you will see, the print quality is
- 9:18exceptional and pleases customers every
- 9:20single time. In fact, I will just very
- 9:22quickly show you the profit margins here
- 9:24with this beautiful little graphic I
- 9:25made. As you can see, so when you're
- 9:27selling posters, there are multiple
- 9:28different sizes that you can sell and we
- 9:30encourage you to list all of these.
- 9:31[music] I will go through in detail
- 9:33later. This is after accounting for the
- 9:35VAT that we charge. This is after
- 9:36accounting for Etsy fees. And as you can
- 9:38see, when you go up to the bigger sizes,
- 9:40you can end up taking home £28.95.
- 9:43So essentially £30 from one sale. And
- 9:46then let's move on over to frames. As
- 9:48you can see, wow, huge, huge profit
- 9:50margins there. Insane, insane profit
- 9:52margins from one sale. Bear in mind now.
- 9:55For example, a lot of people often order
- 9:5624x 36 in frames. They're a very, very
- 9:59common and popular size. And a lot of
- 10:01people enjoy buying sets of free
- 10:02posters. You are looking at £150 [music]
- 10:06profit from one potential sale. So yeah,
- 10:09with the big poster sizes and with
- 10:10frames, you actually don't need to see
- 10:12that many consistent sales to end up
- 10:14taking home a large amount of money. As
- 10:16you can see, very, very healthy profit
- 10:17margins when selling posters and frame
- 10:19prints. Another huge benefit of print on
- 10:21demand is that you do not need any
- 10:23stock. No inventory management, no
- 10:25worrying about running out of paper or
- 10:27your printer breaking. We deal with all
- 10:29of that stress on our end cuz trust me,
- 10:31printers are a pain. But yes, for you
- 10:34guys, it means you literally, you know,
- 10:35no rainy trips to a post office, nothing
- 10:37like that. No worrying about inventory
- 10:39management and very, very low cost to
- 10:42start because you can just start by
- 10:44designing your posters and then coming
- 10:46to Printrim to print them. You do not
- 10:47need any upfront costs, any buying of
- 10:50equipment or that kind of thing. So
- 10:51yeah, with profit margins like this, I'm
- 10:53sure you can see how quite easily you
- 10:55can actually start making some pretty
- 10:56serious money. Because, for example, all
- 10:58you need to do to make the UK average
- 11:00annual salary is profit about £120 every
- 11:03day. And I'm not saying my Etsy shop
- 11:05does this every single day. However,
- 11:07quite often it does. I have free shops
- 11:09myself personally, and I'm sure you can
- 11:11probably figure out that combining those
- 11:13free shops and those free revenues, it
- 11:15leads to a good bit of money. For
- 11:16example, my one shop here has done
- 11:18£57,900
- 11:20in revenue in the past 18 months. My
- 11:22profit margin is not far off 50% after
- 11:25accounting for everything. So, that was
- 11:26about £30,000 profit in the [music] past
- 11:2818 months, which is a take-home profit
- 11:31of £1,500 every single month. And then I
- 11:34have two other Etsy shops that also
- 11:35themselves do about £750 to £1,000
- 11:38profit every single month. So, yeah, I
- 11:40take home about £35,000 every month from
- 11:43selling posters on Etsy, which is
- 11:45actually pretty bang on. the UK average
- 11:46and your salary. So, considering this is
- 11:48my side hustle and that I don't actually
- 11:50do any active work on these shops other
- 11:52than sending orders, which again is all
- 11:54automated through Print Shrimp, [music]
- 11:55it's pretty crazy. So, this is what can
- 11:57happen if you do put the hard work and
- 11:58time in. I have listed over 4,000
- 12:00posters between my free shops. So, yes,
- 12:02it's a lot of products and it's a lot of
- 12:04listing, but like I said, we do also
- 12:05have software that really makes the
- 12:07listing process to Etsy almost too
- 12:09quick. Uh, so I will go through that in
- 12:11detail later. Okay, so let's get into
- 12:13what you actually need to get started
- 12:15selling posters on Etsy. First of all,
- 12:17I've said it before, but I will say it
- 12:18again. Expectations are very important
- 12:20[music] here. This is not a get-rich
- 12:22quick scheme. You will need to be
- 12:24prepared to watch all these videos in
- 12:25great detail. I would recommend taking
- 12:27notes. This is also why our school
- 12:29community is so great because if at any
- 12:30point there's anything you are not sure
- 12:32about, you can ask on there and you will
- 12:33get some [music] really helpful answers
- 12:35from me or from other members of the
- 12:37community. It's a great active group.
- 12:38But yes, you need to be prepared to put
- 12:40the hard work and time in because it
- 12:42does take time for an Etsy shop to gain
- 12:43traction and to get going. You might
- 12:45find your first two to three or even
- 12:47four months is very very slow, but stick
- 12:50with it. Keep uploading and as long as
- 12:52you are creating good posters because
- 12:54yes, you need to make sure your products
- 12:55are good, you will start to see results.
- 12:57So, one thing you will need for this is
- 12:59a computer/laptop. I do not recommend
- 13:02doing this from a mobile phone.
- 13:03Unfortunately, it's not intuitive. You
- 13:05will limit yourself. It'll be a slow and
- 13:07clunky process. [music] and really to
- 13:08unleash the benefits of connecting with
- 13:10print and things like that, you will
- 13:11need a laptop. So that's just one thing
- 13:13to bear in mind. Does not need to be a
- 13:15high performance laptop at all. But I do
- 13:17highly recommend a laptop. And one of
- 13:19the first things you will need is a form
- 13:20of design software because again, we are
- 13:23creating our poster designs ourselves
- 13:25and then selling our own designs. So you
- 13:27can actually kind of call yourself
- 13:28[music] an artist from doing this.
- 13:29That's what I like to say. Anyway, you
- 13:31have options here and uh there are some
- 13:33good free options. Again, this is very
- 13:35easy to get started without a lot of
- 13:37upfront cash. In fact, the only thing
- 13:39that you need to pay for upfront is
- 13:41starting an Etsy shop. And I'll go
- 13:42through how much that costs momentarily.
- 13:43So, yeah, in terms of design software, I
- 13:45always recommend starting with Canva.
- 13:47This is because it is free of charge and
- 13:49also it's very easy to uh get to grips
- 13:51with. You know, it's got a very friendly
- 13:52interface and that kind of thing. But
- 13:54further down the line, you might want to
- 13:55explore options like Photoshop because
- 13:57you can just unlock a little bit more
- 13:58with them. But these do come with a
- 14:00monthly subscription fee. There is also
- 14:02another platform called photop.com that
- 14:04is worth checking out. That is basically
- 14:06an online version of Photoshop that is
- 14:08completely free of charge and runs from
- 14:10your browser. Also talking about design
- 14:12software, it will probably be worth
- 14:14investing in an AI image generator if
- 14:16that is the route you want to go to.
- 14:17Now, some of you watching this may not
- 14:19be a fan of AI and that's completely
- 14:20fine. You do not need to use that for
- 14:22this uh concept of creating products to
- 14:24work. However, I will say it has never
- 14:26been easier to design posters. Now we
- 14:28have tools like MidJourney at our
- 14:30disposal. So, I will go into detail what
- 14:32AI platforms you should look at and how
- 14:34much they cost uh in a later video. But
- 14:36just a word of warning, that's basically
- 14:38one of the only upfront things that you
- 14:39might want to uh bear in mind. As I said
- 14:41before, we highly recommend selling on
- 14:43Etsy. Now, why do we recommend this?
- 14:45First of all, as I told you earlier, all
- 14:47of my shops, those statistics come from
- 14:49Etsy sales. So, there is plenty of
- 14:51demand for posters and there is plenty
- 14:53money in selling on Etsy. But there's
- 14:54some other reasons as well. Your other
- 14:56option, for example, would be selling on
- 14:58Shopify. And this is a great idea and
- 15:00something that we will explore further
- 15:02down the line. But starting with Etsy
- 15:04just makes sense because the interface
- 15:06is so easy. You don't actually need to
- 15:08build a website. You can literally open
- 15:09a shop and then start uploading products
- 15:11straight away. In addition, Etsy makes
- 15:13marketing so much easier. So I consider
- 15:15Shopify a cold marketplace and Etsy a
- 15:18hot marketplace. What I mean by that is
- 15:19that if you go the Shopify route, you
- 15:21are creating your own website by scratch
- 15:23and then you have to advertise to
- 15:25customers yourself on external
- 15:27platforms. This means they are cold
- 15:28customers because they are not actually
- 15:30actively looking to buy posters. You
- 15:32will be pushing adverts to them as
- 15:34they're scrolling on Instagram or
- 15:35Facebook or something like that. Etsy in
- 15:37the meantime is a marketplace and people
- 15:39are only on Etsy because they are
- 15:41actively looking to buy something. And
- 15:43in our case, they will be coming across
- 15:44your products because they are looking
- 15:46to buy posters. Therefore, they are much
- 15:48more likely to purchase your product
- 15:50because they have come to Etsy looking
- 15:51to buy a poster. But with Shopify, you
- 15:54need to convince them that they want a
- 15:55post that they didn't know they were
- 15:56looking for. That's the large reason why
- 15:58we recommend starting on Etsy. But
- 16:00again, selling on Shopify is definitely
- 16:02something to bear in mind and something
- 16:03we will go on to in later videos. But I
- 16:05do recommend just gaining traction,
- 16:06creating products, and uploading them to
- 16:08Etsy first. It just m it makes sense as
- 16:11the place to start your journey. And
- 16:12like I said, there is a lot of money in
- 16:14it. Etsy is also very good because it
- 16:16has a bit of a snowball effect. If you
- 16:17have a good start at selling posters on
- 16:19Etsy, you will see the sales keep coming
- 16:21in and coming in. It really promotes
- 16:23products that are doing well and pushes
- 16:24them to the first page of search
- 16:26results. So, what do you actually need
- 16:28to set up an Etsy shop? It's a very easy
- 16:30process. All you basically need to do is
- 16:32be a real person who has an address and
- 16:34a bank account and a form of
- 16:35identification to prove who you are and
- 16:37then you will be allowed to open an Etsy
- 16:39shop. You can set up an Etsy shop in
- 16:41most countries around the world. If
- 16:42you're from Europe, America, Australia,
- 16:44countries like that, it's almost a
- 16:45guarantee that you'll be able to set one
- 16:47up. If you are from another part of the
- 16:48world, I would just double check before
- 16:50you go any further in these tutorials to
- 16:52check that you can open a shop. The only
- 16:54other thing you need to set up an Etsy
- 16:55shop is a small onetime setup fee. At
- 16:58the time of recording in the UK, this is
- 17:00about £15 and it does vary slightly
- 17:02between countries. So, just do double
- 17:03check, but this will be the best money
- 17:05you ever spend to be honest. Think about
- 17:06it. From one sale, you can make that £15
- 17:09back. So, yeah, that is the only upfront
- 17:11non-negotiable cost throughout this
- 17:12whole process. But everything else you
- 17:13can actually do without spending any
- 17:15more money. Now, you will need to link a
- 17:16bank account to Etsy. I recommend
- 17:18actually opening a new bank account. For
- 17:20example, a Monzo or a Revolute if you're
- 17:22in the UK. It just keeps everything
- 17:23separate from your personal finances and
- 17:25just makes a hell of a lot of sense to
- 17:26have that kind of separation. And then
- 17:28you'll find once you get regular sales,
- 17:30you can let this pot just build up on
- 17:31its own. And again, it's nice to have
- 17:33that separate from your personal
- 17:34financials. And then the only other cost
- 17:35on Etsy is every time you upload a
- 17:37poster, it will charge you a 20 [music]
- 17:39cent listing fee. This listing fee keeps
- 17:41that product active on Etsy for four
- 17:43months or until it sells, at which point
- 17:45when it sells, you will be charged uh an
- 17:47an extra 20 cents to relist that
- 17:50product. So, I suppose that is
- 17:51technically another upfront cost, but
- 17:52it's not too bad. It's kind of
- 17:54reasonable. Say you create and upload a
- 17:55100 posters, that [music] is only $20
- 17:58going out of your account. And again,
- 17:59bear in mind, you can make that back
- 18:00from one sale. And normally, if you have
- 18:02uploaded 100 products, as long as they
- 18:04are good, you will see a sale pretty
- 18:06quickly. And like I said, the good thing
- 18:07about selling on Etsy is once you have
- 18:08your bank account connected, a lot of
- 18:10the time you don't even see the money
- 18:11leave your account because Etsy will
- 18:13keep a certain amount on the platform
- 18:14and then things like fees will just come
- 18:16out of that. So, you don't even really
- 18:18notice it leave. So, that is about all
- 18:19you need to start this whole process.
- 18:21It's pretty low barrier to entry, pretty
- 18:23low cost to get going. And I hope that's
- 18:25been a nice overview of the concept and
- 18:27how this will work. In later videos,
- 18:28we're going to go through how to design,
- 18:30how to actually open an Etsy shop, how
- 18:32to best list your products. We will
- 18:34leave no stone unturned throughout this
- 18:36process of videos. It's actually never
- 18:38been easier to get into this industry
- 18:40and to break through on Etsy, especially
- 18:41now we do live in the age of AI. The
- 18:43barrier to entry of design is so so low
- 18:46right now. The only thing you really
- 18:47need is to be able to see, okay, that is
- 18:49a good product that will sell on Etsy.
- 18:51The wall art market is absolutely
- 18:53massive. So there is no reason you
- 18:55cannot benefit from it and be the next
- 18:57person who gets a sale from this. A lot
- 18:59of people will try and put you off and
- 19:00say, "Oh, there's too much competition."
- 19:02But my shops that I created 18 months
- 19:03ago and the other shops of people on our
- 19:05school that are being created every day
- 19:07prove that that is wrong because they
- 19:09are getting sales consistently. Like I
- 19:11said, as long as you're prepared to put
- 19:12the hard work and time in, I'm sure you
- 19:14will be seeing consistent sales by the
- 19:16end of this. So, best of luck with the
- 19:18rest of the videos. As I've said, if you
- 19:19are watching this on YouTube and have
- 19:21not yet joined our school community,
- 19:22then please go and check it out. It's an
- 19:24incredible place. You can ask questions,
- 19:26interact with people doing the same
- 19:27thing, and there's a lot more videos
- 19:29like this one on there. And once again,
- 19:31of course, it's all completely free to
- 19:33join. So, thank you for watching. In the
- 19:35next video, we're going to go over the
- 19:36process of designing good-looking
- 19:37posters and how to kind of decide what
- 19:39products you should sell and things like
- 19:41that. So, best of luck to you. So, you
- 19:44are ready to start making some money
- 19:45through print on demand. Well, I hate to
- 19:48break it to you, but the only way you're
- 19:49going to do that is by creating good
- 19:51products. And I really do want to stress
- 19:53the good here. We've been teaching
- 19:55people for a long time how to sell
- 19:57posters on Etsy because we are a poster
- 19:59printing company. This is how we create
- 20:00customers for ourselves. It's a great
- 20:02beneficial uh trade of knowledge. But I
- 20:05must admit, it shocks me the amount of
- 20:07people we see come through who just flat
- 20:09out make bad products. If you create
- 20:11crap posters, they will not sell and you
- 20:13will not see results. But if you make
- 20:15good, well-designed products, you will
- 20:18see success. So, when you're watching
- 20:20this tutorial, I want you to be honest
- 20:22and harsh with yourself as you are
- 20:24creating your posters. really think to
- 20:26yourself, can I see this fit into a
- 20:29customer's room? If I was buying on
- 20:31Etsy, would I select this poster over
- 20:33all the other hundreds that people are
- 20:35selling? I'm sick of seeing print on
- 20:37demand advertisements online that
- 20:38literally just go, "Oh, all you need to
- 20:40do is put this logo on this t-shirt or
- 20:42put this bit of text on this poster and
- 20:44then you can sell it on Etsy and make
- 20:46thousands." You can make thousands by
- 20:48selling posters on Etsy through print on
- 20:50demand, but again, only if your products
- 20:52are good. So, in this video, I'm going
- 20:54to go through not only how to decide
- 20:56what kind of posters you should sell,
- 20:58like what niche and that kind of thing,
- 21:00but I'm going to show you how you can
- 21:02design posters to look good and to be
- 21:04commercially viable. We're going to
- 21:06explore how you can design them yourself
- 21:08through Canva or Photoshop and things
- 21:10like that. Also, how you can utilize AI
- 21:12as a part of the design process to help
- 21:14you out cuz we don't sell AI slop, but
- 21:16we don't mind using it as a tool for our
- 21:19designs. We'll also talk about things to
- 21:21bear in mind, such as copyright and
- 21:22public domain. And I'm going to hold
- 21:24your hand and walk you through the
- 21:26process of designing some products to
- 21:27show you what works well and what
- 21:29doesn't work well. Selling posters can
- 21:31seem confusing at the start because
- 21:32there's so many different poster sizes
- 21:33that you can offer, too. We're going to
- 21:35go through that and simplify the whole
- 21:36thing. And we'll also talk about
- 21:38prepping your design files to be print
- 21:40ready. Because if you get your design
- 21:42right and come up with good products,
- 21:43this can be such a reliable source of
- 21:45income. And as we said in the last
- 21:47video, it's completely remote. It could
- 21:48be pretty much completely passive and
- 21:51yeah, it's just amazing really. But
- 21:52those results will only come if we
- 21:54design good products. So, let me show
- 21:55you how. First of all, before we get on
- 21:57to the actual designing part, we need to
- 21:59select what kind of posters we are going
- 22:01to sell. Now, this is why posters are
- 22:03awesome because there is an endless
- 22:04possibility of the kind of categories
- 22:06and niches that you can [music] sell. In
- 22:08fact, I don't think there's any kind of
- 22:10hobby or interest or thing that can't be
- 22:12translated to a poster design. So, first
- 22:15of all, a good question that a lot of
- 22:16people ask is, should I select a
- 22:18specific niche? Do I have to constrict
- 22:20myself to one category of poster on my
- 22:22Etsy shop or can I sell a wider range?
- 22:25Etsy is pretty good. It allows you to
- 22:26have sections. So, you can sell
- 22:28different kind of posters on one shop.
- 22:30However, I am of the opinion that it is
- 22:32better to specialize into a form of
- 22:34niche. doesn't need to be a very
- 22:36specific niche, but I think it really
- 22:38helps the buyer journey and it also
- 22:40helps the Etsy algorithm to understand
- 22:42your products better if they are all of
- 22:44one kind of niche. Etsy is not a generic
- 22:47overall marketplace. It has a form of
- 22:48niche where it's handmade homemade kind
- 22:50of products. So, compare it to real life
- 22:53shops. Etsy is not a supermarket. People
- 22:55aren't coming onto Etsy to just shop for
- 22:58whatever. They're coming with a specific
- 23:00kind of thing in mind. So, I like to
- 23:02think of Etsy more of like boutique
- 23:04shops, independently ran cute high
- 23:06street stores. And these kind of stores
- 23:08will often specialize on one thing. I'm
- 23:10talking your butchers, your florists,
- 23:12your whimsical craft shops. That's what
- 23:14I like to think of Etsy shops as rather
- 23:16than a supermarket that will sell this,
- 23:18this, this, and this. So, therefore, I
- 23:20think it makes sense to offer one kind
- 23:22of product on your Etsy shop. You can
- 23:24then tailor the theme of your shop to
- 23:26that. like your shop name, your banner
- 23:28can all synergize into this one form of
- 23:31niche because as well you can actually
- 23:33open multiple Etsy shops with one
- 23:35identity. Now, I don't want to get ahead
- 23:36of ourselves. Let's focus on creating
- 23:38one successful Etsy shop first. But just
- 23:40so you know, thinking longer term, you
- 23:42can have multiple shops under one
- 23:44identity. So, rather than having lots of
- 23:46different types of posters in the one
- 23:48shop, I actually think it's better to
- 23:50segment. As I said earlier, I have three
- 23:52Etsy shops [music] and that is because
- 23:54they serve three different niches. For
- 23:56example, I have one shop that is just
- 23:58travel prints. Now that travel prints is
- 24:00a overall niche itself. I sell posters
- 24:02of everywhere in the world. I have
- 24:04multiple different forms of designs of
- 24:06these travel prints. The overall niche
- 24:08there is just travel. I then have an art
- 24:10print shop where it is just art prints.
- 24:12This involves the work of other artists
- 24:14like Vincent Van Go and things like
- 24:16that. It also involves just generic arty
- 24:18prints of cats and animals. So, as you
- 24:21can see, that shop is not very very
- 24:23niched down. It is the overall general
- 24:25niche of our prints, but I think that is
- 24:27the kind of niche that you need to head
- 24:28for. I think some people make the
- 24:29mistake of almost being too specific and
- 24:31boxing themselves into a corner. I think
- 24:33it's good to pick a general overall
- 24:35niche that is its very own distinct
- 24:37category, but does allow you to have a
- 24:39bit of creativity and flexibility within
- 24:41that niche. So, yeah, you don't need to
- 24:42be completely exclusive to just one
- 24:44specific type of poster, but there are
- 24:46definitely benefits to niching down
- 24:48because again, it helps the Etsy
- 24:50algorithm to rank your products, to
- 24:52place them. it will know better what
- 24:54customers to show your products to if
- 24:56you have kind of specialized in one
- 24:58niche. So, how do we go about selecting
- 25:00what on earth kind of posters we can
- 25:02sell? Because there is such a wide range
- 25:04of possibilities and so many different
- 25:05avenues that you can go down. I always
- 25:07say the number one most important thing
- 25:09here, select something that interests
- 25:11you. Don't just follow the money. You
- 25:13will see a lot of people, for example,
- 25:14selling travel prints on Etsy. It's a
- 25:16great niche. It can really work, but if
- 25:18you're not a traveler, I'd recommend
- 25:20picking something else. You want to be
- 25:22invested in the products you are
- 25:23creating. You want to let your
- 25:25creativity flow and it will flow a lot
- 25:27easier if you have an active investment
- 25:29in what you are making. I've made the
- 25:31mistake of previous shops of just
- 25:32following the money and I wasn't that
- 25:34inspired or I didn't care that much
- 25:36about what I was making. And I think
- 25:38that translates to the effort you then
- 25:39put into your shop. Cuz again, this
- 25:41isn't a get-richquick money grab. This
- 25:43is the process of building a Etsy store
- 25:45that we care about and we are very proud
- 25:47of. So let's make sure it is something
- 25:49we are interested in and will really
- 25:52enjoy the whole process of doing. So
- 25:54what I'd actually recommend doing is
- 25:55getting a piece of paper and spending 10
- 25:57minutes just to write down everything
- 25:58you are interested in. If you're
- 26:00interested in music or sports or
- 26:02television, just write down anything
- 26:03that is of even a vague interest to you
- 26:05that you can kind of visualize maybe
- 26:07starting an Etsy shop with that theme. I
- 26:09think it's good just to get the ideas
- 26:11flowing and just to see what kind of
- 26:13pathway you can go down. As well as
- 26:15this, it's also obviously a good idea to
- 26:17see what people are selling on Etsy. So,
- 26:18I would literally come into Etsy and
- 26:20just search poster and just have a look
- 26:22through. And again, take this piece of
- 26:24paper and write down any category that
- 26:26you find. And I'm sure you'll see pretty
- 26:28quickly that the amount of possibilities
- 26:30are endless. Travel posters, Japanese
- 26:32style art prints, music inspired
- 26:34posters, which we do need to be careful
- 26:36of, but I'll explain why in a second.
- 26:38Vogue inspired things, even religious
- 26:41posters, floral art prints, music
- 26:43related kind of things. The
- 26:45possibilities genuinely are uh endless,
- 26:48which is why this is such an awesome
- 26:49thing to do because you can get so
- 26:50creative. Like posters like this, for
- 26:52example, that's that's just a room. Like
- 26:55that's just a like a building, but that
- 26:57looks so cool. Mayonnaise posters, like
- 26:59who would have thought that that could
- 27:00sell, right? But look, this shop has had
- 27:022,700 reviews, which likely means it's
- 27:05had about 27,000 sales. Let's take a
- 27:07look. Yeah, 16,000 sales large for
- 27:10selling posters like boom boom boom. Let
- 27:11me hear you say mayo. Mayo. Like the
- 27:14possibilities are endless. This is why
- 27:16it's so good. So do what I'm doing here.
- 27:18Have a scroll through Etsy and just
- 27:19write down everything that you come
- 27:21across because yeah, as you can see, you
- 27:23can get very creative like this more
- 27:24spaghetti, less of a seti one. Like
- 27:26that's that's fun to make. And we'll go
- 27:27through how to design posters like this
- 27:29shortly. As we're looking on Etsy as
- 27:31well, it's important to be aware of our
- 27:32design capabilities and have a think
- 27:34about what we think, especially when
- 27:35we're starting out, we will be able to
- 27:36design because there's a few different
- 27:38types of posters being sold on Etsy.
- 27:40Now, a lot of them at the moment are AI
- 27:42generated, which obviously means the
- 27:43barrier to entry for these kind of
- 27:45designs is very low because all you need
- 27:46to do is type a sentence and you will
- 27:48then have some artwork generated that
- 27:50you can sell on Etsy. We live in crazy
- 27:52times, eh? And there's other posters
- 27:54that have a bit more to them, but you'll
- 27:55often find that it's actually very
- 27:57simple to uh design posters because
- 27:59design, I like to think of it like a
- 28:01jigsaw, right? A poster that might
- 28:03actually appear a bit complicated at
- 28:05first. You will actually normally find
- 28:07out it's just the process of layering a
- 28:09few things together, whether that be
- 28:11images and text. It's like a little
- 28:13jigsaw most of the time. So, a poster
- 28:15that can look pretty complicated to
- 28:17design, when you actually break it down,
- 28:19it might not be as hard as you might
- 28:21think. And again, pay attention to the
- 28:23designs here. See what's selling. See
- 28:25what looks good. And be very critical
- 28:27about what looks good. Because if you
- 28:29want to be breaking through onto page
- 28:30one of Etsy, then it needs to be a
- 28:32elegant, nice, modern design that will
- 28:35fit into multiple spaces. And like I
- 28:37said before, it can't be crap. You need
- 28:39to make good products. [music] You might
- 28:40come across some designs that are very
- 28:42complex and very hard to design with
- 28:44like handdrawn illustrations and stuff
- 28:46like that. If you are an artist,
- 28:48awesome. Go for them. Have fun with it.
- 28:49Get creative. If you can sell any form
- 28:51of art that you can make. But if you're
- 28:53watching this video having never done
- 28:54digital design, then I would maybe uh
- 28:57steer clear from that kind of design for
- 28:58now. Start off with either AI generated
- 29:00ones or the kind of easier jigsaw style
- 29:03[music] designs. Let's not push
- 29:05ourselves too far when we're starting
- 29:06out and make it more complicated than it
- 29:08needs to be. Cuz again, Etsy is a
- 29:10numbers game. So if we can pick designs
- 29:12that we can make in bulk and then upload
- 29:14quickly to Etsy, that is often where a
- 29:16lot of the results will come from. And
- 29:18again, don't rush. We're making good
- 29:19products here. I'm just saying you might
- 29:21want to think about not boxing yourself
- 29:23into the kind of designs that take ages
- 29:25to make. You want to be able to produce
- 29:27a decent quantity to build up your Etsy
- 29:29shop. You will also see a lot of people
- 29:31selling custom prints. Whether this be
- 29:33posters of music lyrics and you get to
- 29:35pick the lyrics and add to the poster,
- 29:37whether it be custom travel prints where
- 29:39you get to suggest a location and then
- 29:40the seller will create that. That is a
- 29:42viable thing and you can definitely do
- 29:44that. I would however say that I prefer
- 29:47fixed designs and staying away from the
- 29:48custom thing. It just means that it's
- 29:50less work basically. Like with uh fixed
- 29:53designs, they will sell forever and ever
- 29:54and ever. You don't need to do any work
- 29:56at the time of sale. With custom, it
- 29:58adds in that extra level of complexity
- 30:01and you know, you need to be on call
- 30:03ready to design at all times, but it's
- 30:05definitely something you can think
- 30:07about. It just takes away a bit from the
- 30:08passive incomeess of selling posters.
- 30:11There's one thing that you need to be
- 30:13very aware of as well, and that is
- 30:14copyright issues. One thing to really
- 30:16steer clear of is copyrighted products.
- 30:19It can be very tempting and you will
- 30:20often see people selling copyrighted
- 30:22products on Etsy, but those shops are
- 30:24running on borrow time and it will
- 30:26eventually get caught and shut down. And
- 30:28when you get banned on Etsy, you are
- 30:29banned for life. There is no way you are
- 30:31ever making another shop under [music]
- 30:32your own identity. They are very strict
- 30:35at the moment. They have really cracked
- 30:36down on people selling copyrighted
- 30:38prints. Now, this might sound ironic
- 30:39because if you do look on Etsy, you will
- 30:41see people selling copyrighted prints,
- 30:43but I promise you, they are on borrowed
- 30:45time and they will eventually get shut
- 30:47down. And once you are banned on Etsy,
- 30:49you are banned forever and you will
- 30:50never be able to start another Etsy shop
- 30:52in your name. So, don't throw away your
- 30:54one chance at building up a reliable
- 30:56passive income stream on Etsy by being
- 30:58selfish and selling copyright designs.
- 31:00It's not worth it. Just don't do it. Do
- 31:02stay steer clear from it. Like, you will
- 31:04see people do it. For example, this
- 31:05person here is selling Full Guys poster.
- 31:07Yes, that is copyrighted. But as you can
- 31:09see, they've only had 17 sales. They are
- 31:11a newer shop. They will eventually get
- 31:13caught. So, what is copyright? It is
- 31:15essentially anything that involves
- 31:17property that belongs to someone else.
- 31:19So, music posters, Frank Ocean here,
- 31:21that is a copyrighted material. As you
- 31:23can see again, it's a new shop. They
- 31:25will eventually get shut down. Etsy used
- 31:27to back in the day, you'd be able to get
- 31:29away with having, you know, 20, 30, 40
- 31:31copyright strikes before you get shut
- 31:33down. Nowadays, one [music] or two,
- 31:35you're done. So, don't risk it. Again,
- 31:36movie posters, that is copyright because
- 31:38it involves intellectual property. Even
- 31:41things like song lyrics, copyright. In
- 31:43fact, I would say if you are
- 31:44questioning, hm, could this be
- 31:46copyright? Then it probably is. Sports
- 31:48posters like that that is technically
- 31:50copyright because it involves an image
- 31:52of Kobe Bryant. However, say you had
- 31:54this design and made it a silhouette
- 31:56version where it was not apparent that
- 31:58it was Kobe Bryant. That would be
- 32:00completely copyright free. Say you're
- 32:02interested in sports or music. You can't
- 32:04go and start selling album posters
- 32:06because you will get banned. But there
- 32:08are ways of creating musical inspired
- 32:10posters that are copyright free. Takes a
- 32:12little bit more brain power to think of
- 32:14how to get around it, but it can be
- 32:15done. Now, if you were selling on
- 32:16Shopify, you might get away with selling
- 32:18copyrighted products for longer, but
- 32:20it's not my position to sit here and
- 32:22encourage copyright sales in any way.
- 32:24But just a word of warning, Etsy is
- 32:26very, very harsh on it. You might get
- 32:27away with it for longer on other
- 32:28platforms, but you shouldn't really.
- 32:30It's a bit naughty. So, you know,
- 32:32however, one thing to be aware of that
- 32:33is almost like a loophole to selling
- 32:35copyrighted materials or materials that
- 32:37feel copyrighted anyway is the public
- 32:39domain. Now, basically, copyright for
- 32:41people's work expires after about a
- 32:43100red years. So, a lot of old artists,
- 32:46think Vincent Van Gogh, think Henry
- 32:48Matise, think William Morris, who
- 32:50created their art over a hundred years
- 32:52ago and have now passed away. Their work
- 32:54is now in the public domain. So, as
- 32:56you're scrolling Etsy, you might have
- 32:57seen a lot of Vincent Van Go, Pablo
- 32:59Picasso, things like that, and thought,
- 33:00"Huh, that must be copyright." That is
- 33:03actually not because it is now in the
- 33:04public domain. And that means you can
- 33:05fully sell their work online for
- 33:07commercial purposes and profit from
- 33:09them. So, I have an art print shop as I
- 33:11mentioned before, and a high majority of
- 33:13my sales come from posters I have
- 33:15created of Henry [music] Matise, of
- 33:17William Morris, of Pablo Picasso, Van
- 33:19Gogh. And there's also two ways you can
- 33:21go about this. You can download their
- 33:23original artwork and sell that. But what
- 33:25I like to do and what a lot of people
- 33:26like to do is create inspired by work.
- 33:28So you're not you're not saying that
- 33:30you're selling an original art print.
- 33:31You are saying artwork in the style of
- 33:34Henry Matise, inspired art of Vincent
- 33:36Van Go. And you can create that using AI
- 33:39and then add it to posters and sell it
- 33:41that way. I think that's a great method.
- 33:42It's really worked my art print shop.
- 33:44Just make it clear that it's inspired by
- 33:46and you're not trying to pass it off as
- 33:47an original cuz you don't want to
- 33:49confuse buyers. But a lot of the time
- 33:50it's the art style that customers like
- 33:52and it doesn't matter that it's not an
- 33:53actual original piece. So that's
- 33:55something to bear in mind. So just do
- 33:56check that the artist or or work that
- 33:58you want to sell is in the public domain
- 34:00before doing so. For example, if you
- 34:02look on Etsy, you'll see a lot of
- 34:03posters of Yaya Consumer. You might
- 34:06assume because so many people are
- 34:07selling her artwork that she is in the
- 34:09public domain as that's what I did a
- 34:11year ago, but then I got five copyright
- 34:12strikes for selling uh her artwork and
- 34:15it turns out she is alive and well. So
- 34:17sorry, I did didn't mean to copy your
- 34:19artwork there. So just do check because
- 34:21yeah, you might be led into a false
- 34:23sense of security that you can sell this
- 34:25form of artwork because so many people
- 34:26are doing it. But again, that doesn't
- 34:28mean you're safe from getting copyright
- 34:30strikes for this kind of artwork as what
- 34:32happened to me. That really scared me
- 34:33and I thought I was going to lose my
- 34:35shop, but I got away with it. But just a
- 34:37word of caution with that one. So let's
- 34:39move on to actually starting to design
- 34:40and [music] starting to create products.
- 34:42And I want to stress the importance here
- 34:44of providing something new to Etsy. What
- 34:47I mean by this is we don't need to
- 34:48reinvent the wheel here. We don't need
- 34:50to come up with something completely
- 34:51revolutionary that is a never seen
- 34:52before category of posters. However,
- 34:54what we don't want to do is falling into
- 34:56the trap of essentially copying
- 34:58someone's design and just uploading
- 35:00incredibly similar products to what is
- 35:02already on offer. especially as a new
- 35:04shop. If you upload loads of posters
- 35:06that are basically already on Etsy and
- 35:08are not that new and that different, why
- 35:10is a customer going to choose your
- 35:11poster from a shop with no reviews and
- 35:14no credibility when they can buy the
- 35:16exact same poster from an established
- 35:17shop with a lot of reviews? So, this is
- 35:19why we need to provide something that is
- 35:21slightly different to what is currently
- 35:23on offer. A lot of people will tell you
- 35:24that you need to find an emerging niche
- 35:26that has not yet been served by the
- 35:27market. That is not true. For example,
- 35:29my most successful Etsy shop that I have
- 35:31has been travels. My second most has
- 35:33been art prints. These are very
- 35:35saturated niches, but because the
- 35:37posters I created were slightly
- 35:39different to what was already on the
- 35:40market, they did well and had success.
- 35:43If I had copied someone else's designs
- 35:46basically and uploaded them, as we do
- 35:47see people do, it I would not have done
- 35:50as well. So provide something slightly
- 35:52new. incentivize someone choosing your
- 35:54product over existing ones. But don't
- 35:56feel like you have to do something
- 35:58revolutionary because it is slight
- 36:00differentiations that can make a big
- 36:01difference in catering towards different
- 36:03customers tastes and motivating them to
- 36:05buy your poster over someone else's. So
- 36:07when you first start out designing, I
- 36:08know I just told you not to copy
- 36:10people's designs, but I think the first
- 36:12thing you should try doing is to copy
- 36:13someone's design. This is just to get
- 36:16used to the art of designing and to
- 36:18practice playing around with shapes,
- 36:19elements, images. So take a poster on
- 36:22Etsy in the niche that you are
- 36:23interested in. Come into Canva, use AI
- 36:26if it's that kind of design and try and
- 36:29replicate it. I think this is the best
- 36:30way you can get to grips with using
- 36:32software and that kind of thing. So for
- 36:34design, I imagine a lot of you at the
- 36:36start will want to keep your cost down,
- 36:37which is absolutely a very sensible
- 36:39thing to do. It takes a lot of risk out
- 36:40of starting a side hustle when you can
- 36:42do it for free. So Canva is amazing for
- 36:45this. I'm sure most of you have probably
- 36:46had a play around with Canva before, but
- 36:48for those of you who hasn't, it is a
- 36:49online design platform and it's all
- 36:51pretty intuitive. So again, let's pick a
- 36:54poster from Etsy and let's have a play
- 36:56around with trying to design this in
- 36:58Canva. Some poster designs can be so so
- 37:00simple that really you actually don't
- 37:02need design skills at all. For example,
- 37:04this one here that I made of Barcelona.
- 37:06This is actually a ready-made product
- 37:08that will sell on Etsy. Travel prints
- 37:10can be very basic like this. Often times
- 37:12it is just an image of the place that
- 37:14you can create using midjourney and then
- 37:15text describing where that place is. You
- 37:18obviously can add in other elements
- 37:19here. For example, the country name,
- 37:21maybe coordinates, maybe you want some
- 37:23shapes showing color. I'll show you some
- 37:25examples on the screen here. But the
- 37:27concept of travel prints can be very
- 37:29basic. And the same applies for art
- 37:31prints. For example, here is a William
- 37:33Morris inspired poster. All it is is
- 37:36creating artwork in the style of William
- 37:37Morris and then adding his name. This
- 37:39again is a very very popular kind of art
- 37:42print to sell on Etsy. And even designs
- 37:45that look a little bit complicated, when
- 37:46you actually break them down, they're
- 37:48really not that hard. Like I said, we're
- 37:50basically creating jigsaws here. So,
- 37:51here's an example of a Yay Kosuma
- 37:54inspired art print that I sell on my
- 37:55Etsy. It's loosely inspired. It's more
- 37:57of a Japanesey art print style. This
- 37:59might look complicated, but really
- 38:01there's only three or four things going
- 38:03on here. So, we have our main image,
- 38:05which is the basis of design. And guess
- 38:07what? I generated this using AI. So I
- 38:10went into midJourney and I said,
- 38:11"Generate me a Yaya Kuma inspired image.
- 38:14You know, a colorful wavy pattern in the
- 38:16style of Yaya Kuma." That gives me a
- 38:19basis for a design. So let's let's let's
- 38:21strip this design back. This is
- 38:23essentially what I started with. Just
- 38:25the image from MidJourney on a on a
- 38:27poster page. And what I'm doing here,
- 38:28I'm designing as a a size poster. I'm
- 38:31going to go over poster sizes in a
- 38:32minute, but I always recommended
- 38:34designing in an A size. That could be
- 38:36A4, A3, A2, A1, A Z, A5. Uh, but I would
- 38:40recommend designing in either A3 or A2.
- 38:42I'm going to deep dive onto that in a
- 38:43second, but just so you know, that is
- 38:44the canvas size we are working with in
- 38:46this example and the others. So, the
- 38:48next question is, okay, what what do I
- 38:50add to this design? We need some big
- 38:52bold text at the top to make it look
- 38:54striking and nice. So, bang, there we
- 38:56go. I know I've just made that magic out
- 38:58of thin air, but all this is is typing
- 39:01in text, finding a nice funky font. I
- 39:03know I'm on Photoshop right now, but the
- 39:05it's the exact same concept in Canva. It
- 39:07will just be a slightly different
- 39:08layout, but you'll be able to find
- 39:09everything very easily. Also, do
- 39:11remember as well throughout designing
- 39:12that Google is your friend. Any question
- 39:14you have about using Canva, you will be
- 39:16able to find very easily just from
- 39:17googling or coming to our school
- 39:19community and asking question there cuz
- 39:21we have a very active school community.
- 39:23Again, completely free to join. You can
- 39:24ask questions and people will answer
- 39:26very quickly. It's very active.
- 39:28Everybody is very much supporting each
- 39:29other. and this video and all of our
- 39:31others are on there available to watch
- 39:32as well. So yeah, this is a very kind of
- 39:34funky style font. It matches the vibe of
- 39:36what we have. Canva will have lots of
- 39:38free fonts available in for Photoshop
- 39:40and Photo. You can also download fonts
- 39:42for free online through websites like
- 39:44daffont.com. And yeah, just have a play
- 39:46around with the colors. So for this text
- 39:47for example, I took these colors from
- 39:49this design. I can see a lot of blacks
- 39:51and purples. I can see that that will
- 39:53match uh pretty nicely. And as you can
- 39:55see, this text here is the color of
- 39:57this. So that's another good thing. Pick
- 40:00from your basis image, like make it all
- 40:02cohesive and work together. So now I'm
- 40:04left with a lot of blank space down the
- 40:05bottom. So it's just a question of okay,
- 40:07how do I fill this space? And often
- 40:09times it's very easy. You just need to
- 40:12put honestly you just kind of need to
- 40:14put random stuff in there sometimes like
- 40:16four squares. Random squares. Again,
- 40:18colors from the design. How much nicer
- 40:20has that made this poster look? And
- 40:22again, next up. Okay, I've got a bit of
- 40:23space on the bottom right. What do we do
- 40:25here? Well, it's a Japanese style art
- 40:27print. So, let's put some Japanese
- 40:29kangji. I will let you into a secret
- 40:31here. I do not recommend this. I don't
- 40:33know what those Japanese ki say. That is
- 40:35just random Japanese letters that I
- 40:37typed to my laptop. I'm not saying
- 40:39that's good design practice. But I am
- 40:41saying a lot of the time it's more about
- 40:42how your product looks rather than what
- 40:45uh what it conveys. So, yeah. I don't
- 40:47know. Maybe that's bad advice. I
- 40:48shouldn't be telling you that. But so
- 40:49now look at that. A beautiful poster
- 40:51that we have created from scratch from
- 40:53only really doing three or four things.
- 40:56not that complex, but that is in my
- 40:58opinion anyway a bold, modern, striking
- 41:00poster. So, I've also mentioned AI quite
- 41:03a lot so far because it is an amazing
- 41:05tool for design. It's crazy the world we
- 41:07live in. You can just now type sentences
- 41:09into a platform like Midjourney and
- 41:10before you know it, you have a
- 41:12aesthetically pleasing poster ready to
- 41:14sell. So, I understand some of you might
- 41:16be anti- AI. That is completely fair
- 41:18enough. Please do skip through to the
- 41:19next section if you are not a fan. But I
- 41:21am going to talk about how to utilize it
- 41:23because it honestly lowers the barrier
- 41:25to entry so much into this industry and
- 41:27you really can use it as a tool to
- 41:29create amazing products. For me, for
- 41:31example, I uh have a travel print shop
- 41:33and I use AI to generate the images of
- 41:35each of these locations in the world.
- 41:37And I use Midjourney for this. I really
- 41:40do recommend MidJourney. I think it is
- 41:42the number one platform for ease of use,
- 41:44for the style that it kind of generates.
- 41:46It's always been my go-to. There are now
- 41:48other options like Nano Banana is an
- 41:50incredible, incredible tool, but for me,
- 41:52MidJourney has just always been the one
- 41:54that makes the most sense for the style
- 41:55of posters I want to create and for how
- 41:57easy it is to use. And now I'm I'll let
- 42:00you into my usage history of Midjourney.
- 42:02So, I have a travel print shop with
- 42:04thousands and thousands of travel prints
- 42:05posters. So, if you scroll through my
- 42:07MidJourney, you will see thousands and
- 42:10thousands of images of locations around
- 42:12the world. You can see the prompts on
- 42:14the right hand side here, right? Not
- 42:15that complicated prompts. This is one
- 42:17thing to bear in mind. You don't always
- 42:19need to do the most with prompting. You
- 42:20can actually get very good results from
- 42:22pretty simple prompts. For example, for
- 42:24all my travel images, all I did was I
- 42:27used Chat Gvt to generate me a list of
- 42:29every single city/place in the world it
- 42:31could possibly think [music] of until I
- 42:32had about a thousand in the end. And
- 42:35then I got Chat Gvt again to put those
- 42:37places into this very simple prompt. A
- 42:40beautiful photorealistic image of San
- 42:42Jose, Costa Rica, for example. That's
- 42:44all it needs to be. does not need to be
- 42:46that complex half the time. As you can
- 42:47see, these are pretty striking,
- 42:49realistic, lovely to look at images.
- 42:51That's another handy tip. Use chat gvt
- 42:53in combination with midjourney t can
- 42:56generate you a list in Google sheets of
- 42:58these prompts and then you can sit there
- 42:59and just copy and paste into midjourney
- 43:01[music] and generate these images very
- 43:03very quickly. Another thing to note,
- 43:04midjourney will by default generate
- 43:06images as square as in a 1:1 ratio. As I
- 43:09said earlier that I will go into more
- 43:10detail in a second, we recommend
- 43:12designing your images as an a size
- 43:14format. So if you want your images to
- 43:16come out as an a size format then you
- 43:18just need to type- AR70 colon 999 on the
- 43:23end of your prompt. So will then
- 43:24generate in this aspect ratio that you
- 43:27can see here ready for an A size. So how
- 43:29much is MidJourney? Well, at the moment
- 43:31the intro tier is $10 a month. So it's
- 43:34actually pretty reasonable and pretty
- 43:36affordable. This I believe will generate
- 43:37you roughly 200 images. That is a pretty
- 43:40good start to an Etsy shop for only $10.
- 43:43So, it is worth the investment. I must
- 43:45be honest, unless you are going to
- 43:46design posters that do not need this AI
- 43:48image as a part of it. Unless you're
- 43:50doing that, I would highly recommend
- 43:51investing. Uh, I think it's the best
- 43:53money you'll ever spend. You pay for
- 43:54what you get. You know, you want to be
- 43:55able to make good products and, uh,
- 43:57using AI can be a very big part of that
- 44:00and can really help you to create
- 44:02polished, finished, good posters as
- 44:04well. I've shown you examples of travel
- 44:05prints there, but Midjourney is also
- 44:07amazing for general art print style
- 44:09things. One of my shops, I sell a lot of
- 44:11Japanese inspired artwork of very
- 44:14different designs. Call them kind of
- 44:15like Japanese advert designs where it's
- 44:17just like random products or things but
- 44:20in a Japanese old retro advertising art
- 44:23style. And Midjourney is actually
- 44:25brilliant at coming up with complete
- 44:27designs like this. So, for example, and
- 44:28again, you don't need to get that
- 44:30complicated with the prompt. You can
- 44:31talk to chat GBT about the kind of
- 44:33result that you want and it will help
- 44:34you craft a very detailed prompt. But
- 44:36just to show you, for example, this is a
- 44:38very basic prompt, a vintage Japanese
- 44:40advert of a camera. Look how nice that
- 44:43is. That is a ready to sell uh poster
- 44:46that will do pretty well on Etsy. To be
- 44:48honest, MidJourney has come a long way,
- 44:49right? When I first started out, uh
- 44:51these were the kind of designs it was
- 44:53coming up with. This was about a year
- 44:54ago. These are now so much nicer, so
- 44:56much more aesthetically pleasing. Uh and
- 44:59yeah, like it's it's insane what we can
- 45:01now do with just simple sentences from
- 45:03MidJourney. So, as you can see, each
- 45:05time as well, it gives you four options
- 45:06just from the one prompt, which is
- 45:08brilliant because it means A, you can
- 45:09either pick your favorite or b, you can
- 45:11sell three of these from one prompt. So,
- 45:13before you know it, you can rack up a
- 45:15good amount of posters ready to list to
- 45:17Etsy. So, the only thing to bear in mind
- 45:18is exporting from MidJourney. What you
- 45:20need to do is make sure you upscale. And
- 45:22upscale, you see some other ones I made
- 45:24here of dogs and crowns and things like
- 45:26that. Upscaling creative is what you
- 45:28want to do. This gives you the highest
- 45:30possible quality. I'm going to go over
- 45:31image quality and things like that and
- 45:33what you need to be aware of shortly.
- 45:35But I must admit, most of the time
- 45:37upscaling creatively from midjourney
- 45:38gives you images that are a high enough
- 45:40quality to send to print. In my
- 45:42experience, I actually didn't know what
- 45:44DPI was until 2 years ago and all the
- 45:46posters I made before then. I never
- 45:47looked into upscaling further than uh
- 45:49from midjourney and they always print
- 45:51well. We are going to have a specific
- 45:53section talking about file quality, but
- 45:55as long as you upscale creatively, in my
- 45:57experience, that is normally enough. So
- 45:59there's some examples what you can do
- 46:00with MidJourney as well. As I mentioned
- 46:02earlier with the public domain, you can
- 46:04sell artwork of artists like Van Go. And
- 46:06if you look here, it can do that very
- 46:08very well. So it's a really powerful
- 46:10tool. There's kind of no limits to what
- 46:12you can create with it. Uh it's [music]
- 46:14it's been an absolute game changer for
- 46:16selling posters. So I do highly
- 46:17recommend the investment and checking it
- 46:19out. And what I always say with AI is
- 46:21like use it as a design tool, right? You
- 46:23don't want to just be pumping out any
- 46:24old crap using AI, but it is an
- 46:27incredibly powerful tool if you use it
- 46:29right. So, prompt correctly. Don't be
- 46:31afraid to bring that image into Canva or
- 46:33Photoshop and add text and other
- 46:35elements. It doesn't need to be you type
- 46:38a sentence, you download that image, and
- 46:39upload that straight to Etsy. I think
- 46:40it's often better if you combine that AI
- 46:43image with other design elements cuz
- 46:45then it's more your own work as well.
- 46:47You know, you can have more of a claim
- 46:48to fame of being an artist. Another tip
- 46:50I would say is don't be afraid to create
- 46:52one design and then use that kind of
- 46:54template to then create multiple posters
- 46:56from that. So this is what I do pretty
- 46:58successfully in print shop. As you can
- 47:00see here, I have a design of a Van Go
- 47:03poster with this nice blue text in the
- 47:05top left. But what I've done is I've
- 47:07created multiple images in Midjourney
- 47:09and then place those images into that
- 47:11same template multiple times. This a
- 47:14removes a bit of work, gives my
- 47:15customers a lot more options, and is
- 47:17just a really good way of saving time in
- 47:20the creation of products process because
- 47:22rather than have to come up with a new
- 47:24template every single time, I can
- 47:25generate 20 or 30 of these. Not so much
- 47:28that I'm spanning my shot with, you
- 47:30know, a similar product. But as you can
- 47:31see, each of the paintings that I have
- 47:33put into this template is rather
- 47:35different. And again, workflow-wise,
- 47:37combine with chat GBT, say, "Generate me
- 47:4030 midjourney prompts for different
- 47:42styles of Vango artwork." Copy and paste
- 47:44those prompts into MidJourney. Bring
- 47:46them all into the same template. Boom.
- 47:48Do that for 20 or 30 posters, move on to
- 47:50a new template. This is a great workflow
- 47:53and it's a great way of creating
- 47:55products quickly and in bulk without
- 47:57being too similar, but also saving you
- 47:59time. And also, a lot of customers like
- 48:02to buy multiple posters at once, for
- 48:03example. Doing this allows them to, you
- 48:06know, have three side by side that look
- 48:08similar but are different. It's nice to
- 48:10be able to provide that as a template
- 48:11and that kind of thing. So that's
- 48:12something to bear in mind. So once
- 48:14again, have a play around with Canva.
- 48:16Don't rush this. Like take your time
- 48:18getting used to designing. I'm sure a
- 48:20lot of you will never have done anything
- 48:22like this, but give you some peace of
- 48:23mind. I first accidentally discovered
- 48:25the concept of selling posters in 2022
- 48:28because I was a cheapkate. I actually
- 48:30wanted to buy a poster for my university
- 48:31bedroom, but the one I wanted online was
- 48:33like £60 and I was like, I'm not paying
- 48:35that. So, I actually sat down and I
- 48:37copied the design on Canva. I'd never
- 48:40done anything like it. It took a bit of
- 48:42tweaking, getting right, but before I
- 48:44knew it, I had just created a poster
- 48:47that was for sale online for £60 and was
- 48:49like, "Oh my god, that actually wasn't
- 48:50that hard once you sit down and take it
- 48:52step by step." So, if I can do it, that
- 48:55Etsy shop that I created then went on to
- 48:57make me £30,000 profit in the first 6
- 48:59months. Anyone can do it. So, yeah, take
- 49:01your time with it. Do use AI if you want
- 49:03to do that. Uh, like I said, it's a
- 49:05great tool. Treat design like a jigsaw.
- 49:08Do copy people's work at the start, but
- 49:09not to sell, just to get to grips with
- 49:11design. And then put your own spin on
- 49:13it. Be creative and just have fun with
- 49:16it. Like I said, canvas pretty intuitive
- 49:18to get to grips with, but do Google
- 49:20anything and do come to our school
- 49:21community to ask any questions you may
- 49:23have. So, with selling posters online,
- 49:25there are multiple sizes that a poster
- 49:28can be. And this is something we need to
- 49:29bear in mind for when we are designing.
- 49:31With Printrim, we offer multiple poster
- 49:34sizes. And we actually offer 21 standard
- 49:36poster sizes that we recommend you
- 49:38selling. The same goes for frame prints
- 49:40as well, minus a couple of sizes. Here
- 49:43is a handy diagram that I put together
- 49:45showing post to aspect ratios. For
- 49:46example, A sizes are very popular in the
- 49:49UK and the EU, but less so in America.
- 49:51You will still get sales for A sizes in
- 49:53America, but their go-to is more the 18x
- 49:5724 in, the 24x 36 in, and the 16x20s.
- 50:00So, there is no reason why you shouldn't
- 50:02cater to every possible size that you
- 50:04can to maximize your sales. The only
- 50:06thing that this does mean though is it
- 50:08does involve a bit of redesigning your
- 50:10poster files because some of these sizes
- 50:12are different aspect ratios. So it's
- 50:14broken down here. As you can see, all of
- 50:16these A sizes all scale with each other
- 50:18proportionally. This means that you can
- 50:20design a poster in A2 and instantly that
- 50:23is ready for when you get a sale in A3,
- 50:26A4, A5 and also A1 and A Z. They scale
- 50:30with each other completely. So when you
- 50:32have designed a poster in an A size and
- 50:34you go to upload your file to Printroom
- 50:36for us to print it as a poster, you only
- 50:38need to upload an A2 for example and
- 50:41then that will fill out A5 to A Z. And
- 50:44then whenever you in the future get a
- 50:46sale for any of these A sizes, we can
- 50:48use that A2 file and use that to send to
- 50:51print for A Z or for A4, for example.
- 50:55So, it's handy to be aware of these
- 50:56aspect ratios because as much as you
- 50:58will need to redesign your files, for
- 51:00example, if you've made your poster as
- 51:02an A2 and you get a sale for 24x36, you
- 51:05will need to redesign for 24x36.
- 51:08However, once you've done it for 24x36,
- 51:11you then don't need to duplicate your
- 51:13efforts and redesign for 20x 30, 16x 24,
- 51:16or 12 x 18 because these sizes will
- 51:19scale with each other. So the workflow
- 51:21we recommend is starting all of your
- 51:23designs and designing all of your
- 51:24posters as an A size. This is the most
- 51:27popular size in the UK and is very very
- 51:29popular in America as well. It's
- 51:31basically where most of your sales will
- 51:33come from and caters to a wide range as
- 51:35you can see A52 A Z. So we recommend all
- 51:38of your posters originally you design in
- 51:40a sizes upload those to print and then
- 51:43only at the point of sale of another
- 51:45size do you then redesign because at the
- 51:48start say you make a poster you don't
- 51:50want to then redesign it eight times to
- 51:53cater to every possible size it could
- 51:55be. Don't do that. That is so much
- 51:57upfront work. Just save it for when you
- 51:59get a sale in another size and you then
- 52:01need to redesign it. And then when you
- 52:03do that at the point of sale, you can
- 52:05upload that to print and say for example
- 52:07that you have just got a sale as 18 by
- 52:0924 in. When you upload this poster to
- 52:12print, it will say, would you like to
- 52:14upload this file to the other
- 52:15corresponding aspect ratios? Say yes.
- 52:18That saves it in our system so that in
- 52:20the future whenever you get a sale for
- 52:22any of these other aspect ratios in that
- 52:24ratio, it will import your file over
- 52:27automatically the next [music] time. I
- 52:29hope that makes sense. It can be a
- 52:30little bit confusing at the start, but
- 52:32with this guide and once you kind of do
- 52:33it yourself once, you'll kind of get to
- 52:35grips with it. We recommend that you do
- 52:37this redesigning outside of Printri
- 52:39because sometimes you will actually need
- 52:41to go into the original design file to
- 52:43mess with elements specifically. It's
- 52:45not always like you can just redesign
- 52:47your design on a canvas and restretch it
- 52:50because that might lead to clipping or
- 52:52some elements of the design being lost.
- 52:54I'll show you an example now. So when
- 52:56you're redesigning your files to another
- 52:57poster size, you might need to get a bit
- 52:59creative about how to do this. So for
- 53:01example, let's say that I sell this
- 53:03poster as a 16x20 in. Again, this is
- 53:06originally an A size file because that's
- 53:08how I do it and that is the best
- 53:10workflow. So if we drag this out to a
- 53:1216x20in canvas, this doesn't work
- 53:15because as you can see, I had a border
- 53:16for it as it was an when it was an A
- 53:18size and now we're left with it just
- 53:20looking awful. Like we need to do some
- 53:22redesigning here. So, there's two ways
- 53:24you can often go about this. Sometimes
- 53:26you might need to go into the original
- 53:28Photoshop file and actually move things
- 53:30around and copy and paste over to a new
- 53:32canvas. But other times with this, for
- 53:34example, you can get a bit creative
- 53:36because, for example, if I drag out the
- 53:38edges here and then move this down, as
- 53:41you can see, it's starting to look more
- 53:42normal again. So, and then [music] I can
- 53:45fill out this border and by adding a
- 53:47shape like this, making sure that it's
- 53:49the same color as the rest of the border
- 53:51and the same size. And boom, I have now
- 53:54successfully converted that to a 16x20in
- 53:56poster. That means that this is also
- 53:58ready for sale as an 8x10 in poster. And
- 54:01I'm only going to do this at the point
- 54:02of sale because otherwise I would waste
- 54:04so much time redesigning every time. Now
- 54:07sometimes you might get lucky. So say
- 54:09for example this Yayoi Kua poster that
- 54:12we did earlier. If I drag this into a
- 54:1416x20in canvas and I drag it all the way
- 54:17up, I actually think that looks pretty
- 54:19good and that kind of works as a
- 54:20complete design. So that I can now sell
- 54:22like that. Easy does it. But you will
- 54:25need to check for each different size.
- 54:26Sometimes, like I said, you might need
- 54:28to go into the original Canva file and
- 54:30start copy and pasting to a new
- 54:31document. Normally, you can kind of make
- 54:33it work by dragging it in and then just
- 54:35getting a bit creative, like I said,
- 54:36with the borders and things like that.
- 54:38So yeah, that's just a quick overview of
- 54:40how redesigning works. It's important to
- 54:42get right. You want every one of your
- 54:44products to look good no matter what
- 54:46size poster you sell it as. Okay. Hey,
- 54:48some other things you need to be aware
- 54:49of with uh print files because print
- 54:51isn't as always as simple as it seems.
- 54:54Now, one thing that we often get asked
- 54:56is do we need to leave a bleed on our
- 54:58designs? And basically, our overall
- 55:00policy is that we print border to
- 55:01border. So, we will print your full
- 55:03design file as it is provided to us. But
- 55:06I will warn very precise elements very
- 55:09close to the edge of the poster. There
- 55:11is a 2 millimeter allowance with print
- 55:13sizes according to ISO standards which
- 55:15means that there could be a very slight
- 55:172 millimeter variation in the size of
- 55:19your posters. This is industry standard
- 55:20and completely normal. So don't have
- 55:23very small and precise things very next
- 55:25to the edge because there is a danger
- 55:27that they might get cropped or clipped.
- 55:29And also with frames for example, frames
- 55:31often overlap around your poster. So
- 55:34again, you don't want elements too close
- 55:35to your design in case of that overlap
- 55:38will obscure any design elements that
- 55:40you want visible. So as much as you
- 55:41don't need to leave a bleed and we do
- 55:43print the full design border to border,
- 55:45do be aware of putting things too close
- 55:47to the edge. Some other things to bear
- 55:49in mind with print files is DPI. What
- 55:52this is is dots per inch and this is a
- 55:54very good indicator of the quality of
- 55:56your print file. Now you should be
- 55:58aiming for 300 dpi wherever possible. I
- 56:01think a lot of people can end up over
- 56:02complicating this. It can seem a bit
- 56:04stressful with upscaling files and
- 56:06things like that. But I will say with my
- 56:07posters, I have always used AI as the
- 56:10main basis of my image. And I have
- 56:12always upscaled creatively from
- 56:14MidJourney, place that image into Canva
- 56:16to add other design elements and
- 56:18exported as a JPEG. And these files
- 56:20always, in my experience, end up being
- 56:22300 dpi, as I will show you here, and
- 56:25have always printed fine. I have never
- 56:27done additional upscaling on external
- 56:29platforms, but most files from
- 56:31Midjourney by Standard are absolutely
- 56:33fine and are high enough quality. So, do
- 56:35bear that in mind. And I would I would
- 56:38warn against overthinking and stressing
- 56:40yourselves out with too much upscaling
- 56:41and all of this stuff. Most of the time,
- 56:43to be honest, as long as your image
- 56:45looks good quality on your screen,
- 56:47especially if you zoom in slightly and
- 56:48doesn't look pixelated, it will print
- 56:50fine. So, we would recommend exporting
- 56:52your files as either JPEG or PNG. We can
- 56:55accept PDFs. However, you'd be
- 56:57surprised. A lot of printers actually do
- 56:59not prefer this and JPEG is actually
- 57:01better. So, one thing to bear in mind is
- 57:03that when designing files and print,
- 57:05they can sometimes be a difference in
- 57:07what you see on the screen and how a
- 57:09file will print. This is because
- 57:10computers and printers use different
- 57:12color spaces. Screens by default display
- 57:14colors as RGB and printers by default
- 57:17use CMYK. This basically means that
- 57:20sometimes what you see on the screen is
- 57:22not how a poster [music] will print.
- 57:24What you can do to help with this is
- 57:26export in an RGB space. This essentially
- 57:29tries to keep the colors on screen as
- 57:30true as possible to [music] when it
- 57:32converts over to CMYK for print. Now, if
- 57:35you're using Canva or Photoshop, the
- 57:37default color space is often actually
- 57:39sRGB. Might be worth a double check, but
- 57:42most of the time if you export in this
- 57:43color space as a JPEG, then you will
- 57:46have no issues sending your file to
- 57:47print. Also, when redesigning for other
- 57:49aspect ratios and picking the size to
- 57:51do, I'd often choose the middle ground.
- 57:53So, for example, say you get a sale as a
- 57:5630x40in print. [music] I would often
- 57:58pick 18x 24 in cuz then it just is a
- 58:00nice middle ground between all sizes and
- 58:02covers all bases. I'd also be wary of
- 58:04upscaling too much because sometimes it
- 58:06can lead to massively large files. Just
- 58:08looking at all of my posters on my
- 58:10computer, I have never created a product
- 58:12that is above about 5 megabytes. And if
- 58:15you are consistently creating posters
- 58:17with a huge file size of 20, 30, 40, 50
- 58:20megabytes, I would look into why this is
- 58:22because it's not very necessary to be
- 58:24honest and it slows down the whole
- 58:26process and it just makes things clunky.
- 58:28So if your files are coming out
- 58:29massively, I would review your workflow
- 58:31and your upscaling process because
- 58:33you're probably doing too much. Again,
- 58:34we have lots of resources going through
- 58:36file preparations on our website and in
- 58:38our school community. So if you need any
- 58:40further guidance, please do check them
- 58:41out at printtrim.com and through
- 58:44searching for our print school. So 99.9%
- 58:47of the time your file will print as
- 58:48expected and as it looks on your screen.
- 58:50Just be wary of designing with a very
- 58:52very bright screen cuz that can often
- 58:54make colors appear more vibrant than
- 58:55they really are. In fact, often times
- 58:57from midjourney, I then up the vibrancy
- 58:59of the image because it helps the colors
- 59:02pop a bit and sometimes they can come
- 59:04out a bit dull by default on midjourney.
- 59:06We at Printri as well offer free paper
- 59:08sizes by default at every single one of
- 59:10our locations. These are gloss, satin,
- 59:13and matte. Gloss is a nice shiny poster.
- 59:16It's kind of what I my mind goes to when
- 59:18I think of posters. It's got that shine
- 59:20and sheen to it. Matte has completely no
- 59:23shine and satin is kind of a nice middle
- 59:25ground. I really like the feel of satin
- 59:26as well. So, you do have the choice
- 59:28every time you sell a poster. I would
- 59:30not recommend passing on this choice to
- 59:32customers because there is such thing as
- 59:34too much choice and it can confuse them.
- 59:36So, we allow you to in the settings of
- 59:38Printrim set your default paper type and
- 59:40it is up to you what you choose. I
- 59:42always recommend satin. I think it's a
- 59:44very nice middle ground between gloss
- 59:45and matte and it often actually holds
- 59:48darker and vibrant colors a bit better
- 59:50and for me produces the more true to
- 59:52screen result. So, the choice is yours.
- 59:55A lot of the time customers, you know,
- 59:57[music] don't care how it comes to be
- 59:59honest. But my personal go-to is Saturn.
- 1:00:01Okay, so hopefully after this video you
- 1:00:03have an idea of what kind of posters you
- 1:00:05want to sell. Again, take a look at what
- 1:00:07people are selling on Etsy. Inspire, but
- 1:00:09don't copy. And do select a niche that
- 1:00:12has an interest to you. I hope what I
- 1:00:14showed you about design is useful.
- 1:00:15Honestly, the best way to get used to
- 1:00:17designing is just to have a play around
- 1:00:19and practice yourself. You won't be
- 1:00:21great at the start. That is fine. In
- 1:00:24fact, I often look back at the first
- 1:00:25posters I ever designed and I'm like,
- 1:00:27"Oh my god, what on earth was I
- 1:00:29thinking?" But you will find over time,
- 1:00:30the more you do it, the more you get
- 1:00:32used to and the more your eye for design
- 1:00:33improves as well. Because again, as I've
- 1:00:36said before, I cannot stress enough the
- 1:00:38importance of creating good posters. So,
- 1:00:41be critical with yourself. Encourage
- 1:00:43friends to check your designs and be
- 1:00:45critical with you because once again,
- 1:00:47this is becoming a bit of a common party
- 1:00:49line. If we create crap posters, they
- 1:00:51will not sell. So there we go. That is a
- 1:00:54nice overview of designing posters for
- 1:00:56print on demand and using Print Shrimp.
- 1:00:58In the next video, we're going to go
- 1:00:59through setting up an Etsy shop and
- 1:01:01getting started with our platform to
- 1:01:03sell our posters on. So, thank you for
- 1:01:04watching. As always, see you in the next
- 1:01:06one and best of luck. If you're ready to
- 1:01:08now set up your Etsy shop, then welcome.
- 1:01:10You're in the exact right place, and
- 1:01:11we're going to walk you through the
- 1:01:12whole step-by-step process of how to
- 1:01:14create and set up properly your perfect
- 1:01:16Etsy store. Etsy is a wonderful
- 1:01:19marketplace. It brings the customers
- 1:01:20right to you. It's very intuitive and it
- 1:01:22is a wonderful place to sell posters
- 1:01:24through print on demand. So, I'm going
- 1:01:26to take you through everything you need
- 1:01:27to know about setting up the kind of
- 1:01:28costs and fees you can expect with
- 1:01:30selling on Etsy and the things you can
- 1:01:32do to promote as many sales as possible
- 1:01:34and to get your shop looking very
- 1:01:36attractive to customers. Also, I'll take
- 1:01:38you through how Etsy can help you
- 1:01:39because it is a wonderful platform that
- 1:01:41does care about their sellers. So,
- 1:01:43everything you need to know, we'll go
- 1:01:44through now. So, a lot of people go down
- 1:01:46the Shopify route when they're first
- 1:01:47starting with print on demand, and
- 1:01:48Shopify is a great platform with a lot
- 1:01:51of benefits. However, we really
- 1:01:53recommend starting out with an Etsy shop
- 1:01:55for your poster print on demand journey.
- 1:01:57There's a few reasons behind this.
- 1:01:59Number one is that it is very easy and a
- 1:02:01low barrier to entry to set up. Because
- 1:02:02with Shopify, you have to build your
- 1:02:04website from the ground up. There's so
- 1:02:06much that goes into that and it can get
- 1:02:07pretty complicated pretty quickly.
- 1:02:08[music] But with Etsy, you literally
- 1:02:11sign up and then you can upload products
- 1:02:13straight away. You don't need to worry
- 1:02:14about setting up your shop or anything
- 1:02:16like that. There's only a few things
- 1:02:17that you need to do, but you can be
- 1:02:19selling posters 10 minutes after you
- 1:02:21have created your Etsy shop. Compare
- 1:02:23that to Shopify. Takes a lot more
- 1:02:24knowledge and takes a lot more time to
- 1:02:26set up. I mentioned this in one of our
- 1:02:27previous videos as well, but Etsy
- 1:02:29ensures that it is bringing customers to
- 1:02:31you that are primed to buy. I call it a
- 1:02:33hot marketplace whereas Shopify is a
- 1:02:35cold marketplace cuz you are then
- 1:02:37responsible for all of the marketing and
- 1:02:39that kind of thing. But with Etsy, you
- 1:02:41will have people coming across your shop
- 1:02:42that are actively looking to buy a
- 1:02:44poster. Compared to Shopify, where
- 1:02:46you're advertising to people on
- 1:02:48Instagram and Facebook, you need to
- 1:02:49convince them that they want a poster.
- 1:02:51But on Etsy, they're already there
- 1:02:53looking to buy one. That is why it is
- 1:02:54the number one place to start with print
- 1:02:56on demand. It's also pretty low cost and
- 1:02:58low fee, which we will get into now. I
- 1:03:01will add a note and say though that we
- 1:03:02encourage Etsy as a starting point, but
- 1:03:04that is no reason to rule out Shopify in
- 1:03:06the future because slightly contrary to
- 1:03:08what I just said, it really can work as
- 1:03:10a marketplace. I just think it's better
- 1:03:12to build up your knowledge of selling
- 1:03:14posters first on Etsy, build up your
- 1:03:16product catalog, and then you can look
- 1:03:17to expanding to things like Shopify,
- 1:03:20eBay, even Amazon. We'll go through all
- 1:03:22of that in future videos. Okay, so what
- 1:03:24are the costs involved with selling on
- 1:03:26Etsy? So, the main one is a £15 account
- 1:03:28setup fee. This is £15 in the UK. That
- 1:03:31might vary slightly around the world. I
- 1:03:33think it can go upwards to $29 depending
- 1:03:36on your country, but that is a onetime
- 1:03:38fee that you pay. It'll be the best
- 1:03:39money you ever spend. Think about it.
- 1:03:41From one sale of a framed poster or of a
- 1:03:44large standard poster, you've made that
- 1:03:46back, if not doubled it. So, it's well
- 1:03:48worth the investment. The only other
- 1:03:50fees on Etsy are transaction fees and
- 1:03:52listing fees. So, every time you upload
- 1:03:54a poster, you will be charged a 20 cent
- 1:03:56flat fee. This will keep that poster
- 1:03:58active on the marketplace for four
- 1:04:00months or until it sells, at which point
- 1:04:02you will pay another 20 cents to renew
- 1:04:04that listing. So, also something to bear
- 1:04:06in mind, every four months you will be
- 1:04:08charged 20 cents for every listing you
- 1:04:10have on Etsy that hasn't sold thus far.
- 1:04:12So, sometimes you might notice that
- 1:04:14every four months a good bit of money
- 1:04:15leaves your account. It always catches
- 1:04:17me by surprise and I realize, oh, it's
- 1:04:18the listing fee renewal. So, that's just
- 1:04:21something to bear in mind. But even say
- 1:04:22you have a 100 products, that's only
- 1:04:24$20. Transaction fees as well occur
- 1:04:27every time that you have a sale. There's
- 1:04:29a few different fees. There is a 6.5%
- 1:04:31transaction fee at the time of
- 1:04:33recording. The 20 cent listing fee goes
- 1:04:35into this when you get a sale. And then
- 1:04:37there's also payment processing fees and
- 1:04:38regulatory operating fees which are
- 1:04:41about an extra 3% plus sometimes an
- 1:04:43extra fixed flat fee. Basically, what
- 1:04:46you can expect is normally it will end
- 1:04:47up being about 15% of what you charge
- 1:04:50that you will lose to transaction fees.
- 1:04:52Now, this does seem kind of high, but
- 1:04:54Etsy is such a good platform to sell on
- 1:04:57that, to be honest, it's worth the
- 1:04:58money. And luckily, selling posters has
- 1:05:01very, very healthy profit margins. As
- 1:05:02you can see here, these take-home profit
- 1:05:04columns, pretty big numbers. These
- 1:05:06account for Etsy fees and everything
- 1:05:08like that. So, these are what you will
- 1:05:10take home after each sale. So, yeah, as
- 1:05:13much as it can be seem a bit painful to
- 1:05:15lose 15% per sale, don't worry. It's
- 1:05:17accounted for in these figures, [music]
- 1:05:18as you can see, incredibly healthy
- 1:05:20profit margins. And a lot of the time
- 1:05:22you don't even notice the fees leaving
- 1:05:24your account because what often happens
- 1:05:25is you'll have a bit of money in Etsy
- 1:05:27from sales and then the fees just come
- 1:05:29out of that. So the money leaves you
- 1:05:31before it actually hits your bank
- 1:05:33account and seems real anyway. So to be
- 1:05:35honest, as much as I probably paid
- 1:05:36thousands and thousands of pounds in
- 1:05:38fees throughout my lifetime, it's never
- 1:05:40something that I've noticed. And it's
- 1:05:41much better to pay fees to then receive
- 1:05:43money that you otherwise wouldn't have
- 1:05:45received than to not pay any fees at
- 1:05:46all. So don't don't worry about Etsy
- 1:05:48fees. Basically, it's part of the
- 1:05:50process, part of the fun. Suggested
- 1:05:52pricing, again, you can take a look and
- 1:05:53price it your own way, but we account
- 1:05:55for the fees and everything like that
- 1:05:56and leave you with very healthy profit
- 1:05:58margins. Another big benefit of selling
- 1:05:59on Etsy is that they do care about
- 1:06:01sellers and they do have a thing called
- 1:06:03Etsy seller protection. What this means
- 1:06:05is that if there was ever an order issue
- 1:06:07that is completely out of your control.
- 1:06:09So say for example you send a poster to
- 1:06:11a customer with tracking because you
- 1:06:13will always have tracking through print
- 1:06:14by default and that tracking shows as
- 1:06:16delivered to your customer's address but
- 1:06:18your customer claims that they have not
- 1:06:20received it. What you can do is
- 1:06:21encourage a customer to open a case on
- 1:06:23Etsy and Etsy 99% of the time will step
- 1:06:27in and refund your buyer for you without
- 1:06:29it costing you a penny. This offer means
- 1:06:31that your buyer can then actually
- 1:06:33reorder your poster and you can actually
- 1:06:35profit twice from one sale which is kind
- 1:06:37of cool. But yeah, Etsy is very good
- 1:06:39about that. It's a very useful program,
- 1:06:40Etsy seller protection, and it's just
- 1:06:42one benefit for that peace of mind of
- 1:06:44selling on their platform. Also, any
- 1:06:46other order issues that may arise, say
- 1:06:48for example, damage caused in transit
- 1:06:50because Royal Mail does love sometimes
- 1:06:52using poster tubes as cricket bats for
- 1:06:54some reason, Printri completely has you
- 1:06:56covered. So, with Printrim within our
- 1:06:58platform, if you ever have an order
- 1:06:59arrive damaged, go onto your portal, go
- 1:07:02to your paid orders, click report a
- 1:07:04problem, upload image proof that you can
- 1:07:06get from your buyer, and then we will
- 1:07:08send a replacement completely free of
- 1:07:10charge. We will never ever have you out
- 1:07:12of pocket for something that is not your
- 1:07:13fault. Order issues do arise with Royal
- 1:07:15Mail. It's part of the part of the fun.
- 1:07:18Sometimes orders are late. Sometimes
- 1:07:19orders arrive damaged, but we will
- 1:07:21always cover you and resend completely
- 1:07:23free of charge. So, just so you know, it
- 1:07:24takes the kind of stress out of having
- 1:07:26to deal with order issues. Pass over
- 1:07:27your problems to us and we will deal
- 1:07:29with it for you. Okay, so let's actually
- 1:07:32set up an Etsy shop. First of all, you
- 1:07:34need to create a standard Etsy account.
- 1:07:36If you do not have one already, I would
- 1:07:38actually recommend creating a brand new
- 1:07:39email address with your shop name and
- 1:07:42then using this Gmail to sign into Etsy.
- 1:07:44I just think it's a nice way of having
- 1:07:46the two things linked and it just makes
- 1:07:48it easier to sign in in the future. So
- 1:07:50yeah, create a just normal free Gmail
- 1:07:52with your shop name atgmail.com. I don't
- 1:07:54think you need to buy a custom domain or
- 1:07:56anything like that. You can longterm
- 1:07:57when your shop picks up and you want to
- 1:07:58seem proper, but at the start keep your
- 1:08:00cost down. Just create a standard free
- 1:08:02Gmail. And then once you've created a
- 1:08:04customer Etsy account, it is here where
- 1:08:06you then click on your user in the top
- 1:08:07right and then click seller on Etsy. And
- 1:08:10then it will ask you questions about who
- 1:08:11you are and you confirm your identity.
- 1:08:13You need to link a bank account as well.
- 1:08:15I would actually recommend creating a
- 1:08:17brand new bank account that is not one
- 1:08:19of your current personal ones. This is
- 1:08:20just to keep your Etsy funds separate
- 1:08:22from your personal funds. I think it
- 1:08:24just makes so much sense just to have
- 1:08:25that separation. And you'll find that
- 1:08:27over time when you start getting
- 1:08:28consistent sales, this will build up and
- 1:08:30up. And it's really cool just to be able
- 1:08:31to track actually how much you have made
- 1:08:32from selling on Etsy. It's very easy to
- 1:08:34create a bank account with Monzo or
- 1:08:36Revolute or even Chase if you haven't
- 1:08:38done so already. Stling Bank is another
- 1:08:40good option. Yeah, I would recommend New
- 1:08:42Bank account for a new Etsy shop. The
- 1:08:43questions that you will be asked to
- 1:08:45create an Etsy shop should be very
- 1:08:46intuitive. The only one you might get
- 1:08:48stuck at is whether you want to be a
- 1:08:49soul trader or a private limited
- 1:08:51company. Now, this is something to
- 1:08:52consider because once you select this,
- 1:08:54you actually can't change it going
- 1:08:56forward. So, if you select soul trader,
- 1:08:57you will forever be a soul trader on
- 1:08:59Etsy. If you select private limited
- 1:09:01company, you will forever be a PLC. The
- 1:09:03only thing with PLC is that you actually
- 1:09:05then have to create a business through
- 1:09:07company's house, which does incur some
- 1:09:09extra costs and comes with legal
- 1:09:11responsibilities. Then once you've
- 1:09:12created that business, which can take a
- 1:09:14little bit of time, you then use that to
- 1:09:16create your Etsy shop. So for 99.99% of
- 1:09:19you, I would recommend being a soul
- 1:09:20trader. This is what I am on my Etsy
- 1:09:22shops. It just keeps it very simple and
- 1:09:24it means that you pay personal income
- 1:09:26tax rather than having to worry about
- 1:09:27corporation tax and things like that.
- 1:09:29It's just a lot easier and more
- 1:09:31accessible for most people. But do your
- 1:09:33own research on this. Look into what
- 1:09:35will work better for you. There are some
- 1:09:37benefits to being a private limited
- 1:09:38company. It just is a bit more
- 1:09:40complicated. So I think for most of you
- 1:09:42it will make sense to be a soul trader.
- 1:09:44Okay. So now you need to come up with a
- 1:09:46shop name. I would not overthink this
- 1:09:49too much. I wouldn't say it matters too
- 1:09:50much on Etsy what you call your shop.
- 1:09:52The one thing I will bear in mind I made
- 1:09:54a mistake previously. I called a shop
- 1:09:56Groovy Creations cuz I wanted to make
- 1:09:58like funky psychedelic posters. And then
- 1:10:00when I started making them, I realized
- 1:10:02that that actually wasn't really my vibe
- 1:10:03and not what I wanted to do. But then I
- 1:10:05was stuck with a shop called Groovy
- 1:10:07Creations and the products that I then
- 1:10:08listed didn't really fit that vibe.
- 1:10:10didn't make too much of a difference.
- 1:10:12You know, the shop still did well, still
- 1:10:13got a lot of sales, but it didn't quite
- 1:10:15match up. So, have a think about your
- 1:10:17shop name. Ensure that it will match
- 1:10:19your niche that you have chosen. Maybe
- 1:10:21don't box yourself in too much with a
- 1:10:23name. You can always choose something
- 1:10:24generic like one of mine is called Print
- 1:10:26Seeking Rules, for example. That could
- 1:10:28apply to any niche. But then again, my
- 1:10:30travel shop is called One Planet Prints,
- 1:10:32which is very specific to travel, but I
- 1:10:33knew that that shop was always going to
- 1:10:35be specific to travel, so that worked
- 1:10:37well. But yeah, just have a general
- 1:10:38overall think about the branding that
- 1:10:39can come from this shop name. Again,
- 1:10:41don't overthink it too much, but you
- 1:10:43should be proud of the creation of your
- 1:10:45Etsy shop. So, do make sure it's a name
- 1:10:47that you're happy with and you know that
- 1:10:48you'll want to tell people about because
- 1:10:50you should be shouting from the
- 1:10:51rooftops, check out my Etsy shop. So,
- 1:10:53yeah, just have a think. Don't rush into
- 1:10:55it and yeah, choose something that you
- 1:10:56like. Okay, so now you need to do some
- 1:10:58shop branding. The two main things you
- 1:11:00will need to do is create a banner for
- 1:11:02the top of your shop and a logo. Having
- 1:11:04a shop banner is a great way just to
- 1:11:06communicate some information largely the
- 1:11:08quality of your prints and your dispatch
- 1:11:10speed. And it's a nice way to show off
- 1:11:12some posters that you sell. So maybe you
- 1:11:14want to create a few products before you
- 1:11:15create your banner so you can show off
- 1:11:16some of your products on your banner.
- 1:11:18For example, here's mine with One Planet
- 1:11:20Prints. As you can see on the right hand
- 1:11:22side, just show off some posters and on
- 1:11:24the left just a bit of general
- 1:11:25information about how quickly I will
- 1:11:26dispatch the posters, the fact that
- 1:11:28they're pre premium and on really nice
- 1:11:30paper and that kind of thing. So that's
- 1:11:32one route you can go. Another route you
- 1:11:33can go with my art shop is more
- 1:11:35literally just showcasing posters. So I
- 1:11:37brought this mockup on Etsy and then
- 1:11:39using photo or Photoshop, I can place my
- 1:11:41posters within this mockup and it's just
- 1:11:43a nice way of showing off some of the
- 1:11:45different designs that I have for offer.
- 1:11:46Same goes for logos. It can be more
- 1:11:48complicated like my One Planet one that
- 1:11:50has like a little mascot or you can keep
- 1:11:52it very simple and literally just do
- 1:11:54textbased logo like that. Again, these
- 1:11:56don't matter too much. I don't think
- 1:11:58anyone will not buy a poster from your
- 1:12:00shop because they don't like your lo
- 1:12:01your logo, but it's nice to have a
- 1:12:04pretty shop that you're proud of,
- 1:12:05basically. So, you know, do do make it
- 1:12:07look nice. Like, I do think it does it
- 1:12:08does contribute to the customer journey.
- 1:12:10So, that's the two main things uh
- 1:12:12design-wise that you need to create for
- 1:12:14your Etsy shop. There are some other
- 1:12:15fields for you to fill out on Etsy as
- 1:12:17well, because the thing is, you might as
- 1:12:18well maximize anything that Etsy gives
- 1:12:20you to give you the highest chance of
- 1:12:22success. One thing is your about
- 1:12:24section. This is a great time to tell a
- 1:12:26little story about yourself. People use
- 1:12:28Etsy largely because it is an
- 1:12:30independent marketplace filled with
- 1:12:31independent sellers. So, a lot of people
- 1:12:33do care about who they're buying from,
- 1:12:35their story, and their inspiration
- 1:12:36behind their products. It's quite a
- 1:12:38wholesome marketplace, Etsy. Write a
- 1:12:40little bit about yourself. Write why
- 1:12:41you're selling these products, where
- 1:12:43your inspiration came from. You can even
- 1:12:45add photos of yourself if you like to.
- 1:12:47There's no pressure to do that
- 1:12:48whatsoever, but it's a nice place to be
- 1:12:50a little bit wholesome. And yeah, you
- 1:12:52don't have to write too much for this
- 1:12:53bit. It can be a sentence. It can be a
- 1:12:54paragraph. A couple of paragraphs.
- 1:12:56That's up to you really and what you
- 1:12:57want to share with the world. But I
- 1:12:59think it just makes your shop look
- 1:13:00complete and full. Some other things you
- 1:13:02can fill out. One is your uh policy
- 1:13:04settings. Now, this is important because
- 1:13:06obviously we are doing print on demand.
- 1:13:09Your poster is only produced at the
- 1:13:11point of a sale. So, I recommend trying
- 1:13:13to avoid accepting returns and exchanges
- 1:13:15as much as you possibly can. You do need
- 1:13:17to check EU regulations for this as
- 1:13:20sometimes uh it's you actually can't
- 1:13:22refuse a return. But always try and
- 1:13:24argue your case that if it's for change
- 1:13:26of mind, do not allow a return because
- 1:13:29it's unfair. You know, you've paid for
- 1:13:30this post to be printed specifically for
- 1:13:32this customer. So for change of mind, I
- 1:13:34would really try and avoid uh accepting
- 1:13:36returns. If you do ever accept a return,
- 1:13:38we recommend doing this to your own
- 1:13:40personal address. That is because we
- 1:13:42have no reason for returns. We're never
- 1:13:44going to resell one of your posters. We
- 1:13:46will always reprint as fresh just due to
- 1:13:47inventory and stock issues. So if a
- 1:13:50customer is insistent on returning a
- 1:13:52poster to you, it's your prerogative to
- 1:13:53decide whether you want to accept or
- 1:13:55not. But if you do accept, you might as
- 1:13:57well give them your return address. Uh
- 1:13:58and then you get to have one of your
- 1:14:00posters uh for free or not free, but you
- 1:14:02know, that's just something to bear in
- 1:14:04mind. So you can display this on your
- 1:14:06policy settings and just try and make it
- 1:14:07clear that for change of mind you're not
- 1:14:09a fan of accepting returns. And you can
- 1:14:11make it clear that it's because it is
- 1:14:12print on demand and the poster is only
- 1:14:14printed at the point of sale and it
- 1:14:16would be wasteful of you to accept a
- 1:14:17return because it would not be possible
- 1:14:19to resell it. Okay. Now, FAQs is also a
- 1:14:22big section. Unfortunately, most
- 1:14:23customers never actually read this.
- 1:14:25However, you know, it it's good to it's
- 1:14:27good to have in there, but most
- 1:14:29customers unfortunately just do not
- 1:14:30read. But, you know, it's fine. So, some
- 1:14:32things you should bear in mind and
- 1:14:33important things to note in here.
- 1:14:35Damaged items on arrival. If your order
- 1:14:37arrives damaged, just tell your customer
- 1:14:39to get in touch with you. send you
- 1:14:41photos of the damaged poster and then
- 1:14:43what you need to do is pass this on to
- 1:14:45Print by going into paid orders,
- 1:14:46clicking report a problem, uploading
- 1:14:48images. We will resend to your customer
- 1:14:50free of charge every single time, no
- 1:14:52questions asked, as long as we have
- 1:14:53proof of damage. As I said earlier, we
- 1:14:55will never have you out of pocket for
- 1:14:56something that is not your fault.
- 1:14:57Returns and refunds as well. Just make
- 1:14:59it clear here as I said before that you
- 1:15:01don't accept returns or refunds with
- 1:15:02change of mind. But you can say that you
- 1:15:04do offer refunds or replacements for
- 1:15:06things like printing or quality issues
- 1:15:07or rare cases where something went wrong
- 1:15:09on our side. And again, any print issues
- 1:15:11that it happens on 0.1% of cases, we
- 1:15:15will always resend free of charge.
- 1:15:17Delivery delays and late arrivals as
- 1:15:19well. Again, when an order is deemed
- 1:15:21lost by a courier or normally we say
- 1:15:23around 7 to 10 days late, we will resend
- 1:15:26for you free of charge once again. So
- 1:15:28you can just say in here, we can't issue
- 1:15:30refunds or returns and unless your
- 1:15:32parcel is officially marked as lost by
- 1:15:33the carrier. Print quality and color
- 1:15:35differences. You can say that if uh
- 1:15:37anything arises in a printing error,
- 1:15:38we're happy to offer a free replacement.
- 1:15:40I would also add a little disclaimer
- 1:15:42saying that colors do vary slightly for
- 1:15:43what is seen on screen because this does
- 1:15:45happen sometimes as I mentioned earlier,
- 1:15:46but it should never be a big enough
- 1:15:48difference to cause a problem. Now, if
- 1:15:50it comes to a customer supplying a
- 1:15:52incomplete or in uh incorrect address,
- 1:15:54then make it clear that that is their
- 1:15:56fault and you know, you can't officially
- 1:15:57offer free replacements. I will say
- 1:15:59though, even if that is what's happened
- 1:16:01with an order, do get in touch with us.
- 1:16:03We're very friendly. We're very nice and
- 1:16:04forgiving with sending replacements, so
- 1:16:06we will always try and help you as best
- 1:16:08as we can. So, always get in touch with
- 1:16:09us no matter what the issue is. And
- 1:16:11yeah, you can also add some notes about
- 1:16:13uh shipping times over Christmas because
- 1:16:15December gets a bit crazy with selling
- 1:16:16posters. It's a great time of year for
- 1:16:18it. So, that's the main overview of uh
- 1:16:20other fields you can fill out to just
- 1:16:22maximize your shop and communicate how
- 1:16:24things work to your customers. Cuz yeah,
- 1:16:26the only thing that ever really goes
- 1:16:27wrong with print on demand is orders
- 1:16:29arriving damage. But, as I said, free
- 1:16:30printion, we will always resend free of
- 1:16:32charge. We have your back. We're on your
- 1:16:34side. We want you to provide the best
- 1:16:36experience to your customers as
- 1:16:38possible. So, just get in touch with us.
- 1:16:39Uh you'll be speaking to me most of the
- 1:16:41time. We're very human customer service.
- 1:16:43We like building relationships with all
- 1:16:44our customers. So, yeah, it's it's good
- 1:16:46stuff. Okay. Hey, just want to go over
- 1:16:48quickly some things you can do to
- 1:16:50safeguard your Etsy account as a new
- 1:16:51seller and some things to be aware of.
- 1:16:53One big thing, when you start your Etsy
- 1:16:55shop, you will be inundated with spam
- 1:16:58messages. This is unfortunately a small
- 1:17:00problem with the platform. Basically,
- 1:17:01there are a lot of bots on Etsy that
- 1:17:03specifically target new sellers. So,
- 1:17:05within your first week or two, just be
- 1:17:08wary of scam messages. These could come
- 1:17:10via Etsy messages. They could come via
- 1:17:12your email. But just so you know, the
- 1:17:14only place you will get confirmation of
- 1:17:17a real legitimate order is on your
- 1:17:19orders page within your order dashboard.
- 1:17:21Do not open or click through to any
- 1:17:23emails that tell you you need to verify
- 1:17:25your bank account or anything like that.
- 1:17:27And you have only had an order if you
- 1:17:29can see it in your orders section on
- 1:17:31your Etsy shop. These spam messages will
- 1:17:34stop eventually. They do specifically
- 1:17:35target new sellers, so after a couple
- 1:17:37weeks, it will go away. It is slightly
- 1:17:39annoying, but it's just something to
- 1:17:40bear in mind. If in doubt, it's probably
- 1:17:42a scam. Don't click through anything. Do
- 1:17:44not ever provide your bank details. And
- 1:17:46yeah, they will stop eventually, so
- 1:17:48don't worry. But you will probably come
- 1:17:49across a couple scam messages. Also,
- 1:17:51small word of warning. It's probably not
- 1:17:53too much of a major issue anymore, but
- 1:17:54when you first start an Etsy account,
- 1:17:56don't spam upload too many products all
- 1:17:58at once. Etsy can sometimes flag this
- 1:18:00automatically as suspicious behavior and
- 1:18:02might suspend your account. You will
- 1:18:04often get it back if you appeal when
- 1:18:06this has happened. But maybe just take
- 1:18:08it a bit slower and upload, you know, 10
- 1:18:10to 20 a day if you have that many ready.
- 1:18:12you probably have less and that's fine.
- 1:18:13But yeah, just don't spam upload
- 1:18:15hundreds as soon as you first create
- 1:18:16your Etsy shop. And yeah, if you do get
- 1:18:18banned, uh, unless you've been selling
- 1:18:20copyrighted products, don't panic. Uh,
- 1:18:22it's probably just an automatic flag
- 1:18:23from Etsy, and if you appeal, you should
- 1:18:25get it back. That is, unless you have
- 1:18:27been selling copyrighted posters, in
- 1:18:28which case you probably won't get your
- 1:18:30account back, but that is the risk you
- 1:18:32take with selling copyrighted products.
- 1:18:34Another thing to be aware of is don't
- 1:18:35direct traffic away from Etsy. Etsy will
- 1:18:37flag this uh, and it is against their
- 1:18:39policy. they want you to, you know, keep
- 1:18:41your sales on your platform. You can
- 1:18:43actually link your website in a social
- 1:18:44media section if you have a Shopify
- 1:18:46site, for example. But in customer
- 1:18:48messages, don't go messaging a customer
- 1:18:51uh about, you know, oh, you can buy my
- 1:18:53posters here or I'm sure at the start
- 1:18:54you will have no reason to direct anyone
- 1:18:56away from the platform anyway. Just a
- 1:18:58word of warning. Uh it is against Etsy's
- 1:19:00policies officially and might get
- 1:19:01flagged out. So, we've now set up an
- 1:19:03Etsy shop. That is one piece of the
- 1:19:04two-part puzzle. And the other part of
- 1:19:06that puzzle is setting up a print shrimp
- 1:19:08account because as we are doing print on
- 1:19:10demand, we are obviously the people that
- 1:19:11will print your posters. So we need to
- 1:19:13get your customer information from Etsy
- 1:19:15over to us so we know where to send your
- 1:19:17posters. So if you come to
- 1:19:18app.printship.com, you can sign up
- 1:19:20there. Our platform should be pretty
- 1:19:22intuitive and easy to use. We are built
- 1:19:24specifically for Etsy poster sellers by
- 1:19:26poster sellers and myself and my
- 1:19:28co-founder. We have full Etsy
- 1:19:29integration and things like that. So
- 1:19:31it's very easy to literally connect your
- 1:19:33Etsy shop to your Printroom account. You
- 1:19:35need to click a button every day and
- 1:19:36your orders will automatically go over
- 1:19:38to Printrim ready to be printed as
- 1:19:40actual posters. So you might as well
- 1:19:42connect Printrim to your Etsy shop
- 1:19:43straight away. So if you sign into
- 1:19:45Printroom, come to integrations and then
- 1:19:47click connect Etsy. It will take you
- 1:19:49over to Etsy and just give us permission
- 1:19:50to access your account and then you'll
- 1:19:52be integrated your Etsy and Printroom.
- 1:19:54There will be a symbiotic relationship
- 1:19:56and it'll be very easy for you to get
- 1:19:58your orders over to Printroom and things
- 1:20:00like that. I'm going to go through uh in
- 1:20:01a later video in detail how everything
- 1:20:04on Printion works because we have some
- 1:20:05really cool software and tools that we
- 1:20:07have built, including software that
- 1:20:09completely automates the whole process
- 1:20:11of uploading posters to Etsy, which we
- 1:20:13are incredibly proud of. I'm going to go
- 1:20:15through this in a later video, but
- 1:20:16uploading posters to Etsy used to be so
- 1:20:18manual. You used to have to put your
- 1:20:19posters in mockups one by one manually
- 1:20:21and then do all the SEO yourself. And
- 1:20:23now with Printim, you can literally drag
- 1:20:25and drop 100, 200 posters at once. It
- 1:20:28will place them into mock-ups for you,
- 1:20:29upload them to Etsy with all your SEO
- 1:20:31done, all your pricing filled out,
- 1:20:33everything. It's amazing. I I'll go into
- 1:20:35detail later. I'm just excited to talk
- 1:20:37about it because it's a really, really
- 1:20:38cool thing. And oh my god, it saves so
- 1:20:40much time. It's insane. And yeah, Print
- 1:20:42will automatically pick up what product
- 1:20:44you have sold, whether you sell a framed
- 1:20:46print or a standard poster. We have a
- 1:20:48very smart uh integration system in
- 1:20:50place where you click a button and it
- 1:20:52will pull over all of your orders from
- 1:20:53Etsy ready to be sent out. It's very,
- 1:20:55very easy. truly is passive income once
- 1:20:58you've got it all set up and running. So
- 1:20:59yeah, create a print account as well.
- 1:21:01Have a little play around and yeah, have
- 1:21:03a look. So now that we have connected
- 1:21:04our Etsy shop to Printrimp, we might as
- 1:21:06well declare Printrimp as a production
- 1:21:08partner because this is something that
- 1:21:09you officially according to Etsy's
- 1:21:11policies have to do because you work
- 1:21:12with us to produce your products. You
- 1:21:14just need to declare that to your buyers
- 1:21:15just so they know there is a third party
- 1:21:17involved in the process. Uh yeah, this
- 1:21:19is completely fine to do and is no
- 1:21:20problem at all. So, if you come down to
- 1:21:22your Etsy settings and then click
- 1:21:24partners you work with. You can add a
- 1:21:26production partner here. It's up to you
- 1:21:27whether you want to show us to buyers or
- 1:21:29not. We appreciate if you do, but
- 1:21:30there's no pressure there whatsoever.
- 1:21:31You can keep a secret if you would like
- 1:21:33to. That's absolutely fine. So, you can
- 1:21:35just type in print shrimp and then
- 1:21:37location-wise, you can just type United
- 1:21:38Kingdom. We do have locations around the
- 1:21:40world, but like I'm English, so I
- 1:21:42default to United Kingdom. You can write
- 1:21:44whatever you want here. and what they do
- 1:21:45for you. You can just do a brief
- 1:21:47sentence saying they assist me in the
- 1:21:48creation of my products or they do the
- 1:21:50printing for me or I make the designs.
- 1:21:53They print my posters and send them to
- 1:21:55my customers. However you want to phrase
- 1:21:56it, just a little brief description of
- 1:21:58what we do. I like to stress that, you
- 1:22:00know, you are the creator of the
- 1:22:01designs. You've come up with them. We're
- 1:22:03just the we're just the dudes to put
- 1:22:04them on paper. And why do you work with
- 1:22:06this partner? I would say I don't have
- 1:22:07the technical ability or equipment to
- 1:22:09make it entirely by myself because trust
- 1:22:10me, you don't want to deal with the
- 1:22:12bloody printers that we have as they're
- 1:22:13huge and expensive and always break as
- 1:22:15well. So, yeah, that's fine to click
- 1:22:17that role in the design process. Design
- 1:22:18everything myself as you do. And
- 1:22:20partner's role is they make a component
- 1:22:22of my product and I do the rest. And
- 1:22:24there you go. That is uh production
- 1:22:26partner. You're now all above board and
- 1:22:28able to work with print. Okay, you now
- 1:22:30have set up an Etsy shop.
- 1:22:31Congratulations. you're getting one step
- 1:22:33closer to selling posters through print
- 1:22:35on demand on Etsy. In the next video,
- 1:22:37we're going to go through how to
- 1:22:38actually upload your products that you
- 1:22:39have created and do so in a way that is
- 1:22:41good SEO. Once again, I'll give a quick
- 1:22:43shout out to our school community. If
- 1:22:44you have come from YouTube, it's a
- 1:22:46completely free to join place filled
- 1:22:48with people selling posters and going
- 1:22:50through a similar journey as you now
- 1:22:51are. It's a great place to ask
- 1:22:53questions. It's a very active community.
- 1:22:55So, yeah, check that out. As I said, all
- 1:22:57completely free because we don't charge
- 1:22:59for knowledge at any point. All right,
- 1:23:01thanks for watching and see you in the
- 1:23:03next one. You could be selling the
- 1:23:05world's best product on Etsy. However,
- 1:23:07if you don't do your SEO correctly, no
- 1:23:10one's going to see it. SEO is the one
- 1:23:12thing you really need to smash and get
- 1:23:13correct and also other things like
- 1:23:15placing your products and attractive
- 1:23:17mock-ups is just so so important in
- 1:23:19building a successful Etsy shop. So,
- 1:23:21today we're going to go through all of
- 1:23:22that. Going to tell you absolutely
- 1:23:24everything you need to know and
- 1:23:25everything you need to maximize to get
- 1:23:27your SEO correct. [music] So, what is
- 1:23:29SEO? Well, it is search engine
- 1:23:31optimization. You may have heard of it
- 1:23:33before in other contexts outside of
- 1:23:34Etsy, but it is essentially how your
- 1:23:36products get shown to customers, and
- 1:23:38it's a culmination of things like your
- 1:23:40titles, your descriptions, your tags,
- 1:23:42and also mockups on your im on your
- 1:23:44listings. I'll be honest, uploading
- 1:23:46posters to Etsy can take a while if you
- 1:23:48do it manually. There's a lot that goes
- 1:23:50into it. For example, you need to find
- 1:23:52at least three to five mock-ups. Place
- 1:23:54your poster into each of these three to
- 1:23:56five mock-ups to show it off in
- 1:23:58different lights and angles. Then you
- 1:23:59need to upload those images, type out
- 1:24:01your title, type out your description,
- 1:24:03type out your tags. It can take a long
- 1:24:06time. Now, we over at Printroom have
- 1:24:08built some software that completely
- 1:24:09automates this whole process. I'm not
- 1:24:11just going to sit here and completely
- 1:24:13shill that. I am going to take you
- 1:24:15through the manual process of uploading
- 1:24:16a product because I think it's important
- 1:24:18that you understand how to do so and
- 1:24:20each of the fields and everything that
- 1:24:22goes into it. But what I will say is I
- 1:24:24do highly recommend checking out our
- 1:24:26software because I think you'll be uh
- 1:24:28bewildered if you compare the difference
- 1:24:30between uploading a poster manually
- 1:24:32versus using our software. So I do
- 1:24:34recommend coming on to Printrim,
- 1:24:35connecting your Etsy shop and then
- 1:24:36coming into our listing tools section
- 1:24:38and clicking bulk list product to Etsy.
- 1:24:40We do have to charge for the software
- 1:24:42cuz it costs us to put your images and
- 1:24:43mockups and upload to Etsy for you. But
- 1:24:45we give you five free credits every
- 1:24:47single month which means that you can
- 1:24:48upload five posters completely free of
- 1:24:50charge. I would recommend coming on to
- 1:24:52Printim and trying that out shortly just
- 1:24:54so you can see how the software kind of
- 1:24:56works because it's really really cool.
- 1:24:58But anyway, for now I'm going to show
- 1:24:59you how you would upload posters
- 1:25:01manually to Etsy so you can understand
- 1:25:02the whole process. Even if you already
- 1:25:04know you want to use this software, I
- 1:25:06still recommend watching this uh this
- 1:25:08section because it's important for you
- 1:25:10to understand all of the SEO fields and
- 1:25:12kind of what goes into it. So the first
- 1:25:14thing and one of the most important
- 1:25:15things is placing your posters into
- 1:25:16mockups. And in case you're unsure what
- 1:25:18that is, it is essentially presenting
- 1:25:20your posters in real life situations
- 1:25:22within customers homes. So often placing
- 1:25:24them in frames and showing them in
- 1:25:26people's lounges or kitchens and things
- 1:25:28like that. These are very very important
- 1:25:30because they are showcasing your product
- 1:25:32to customers and they is allowing them
- 1:25:34to visualize them within their home. So
- 1:25:36what makes a good mockup is something
- 1:25:38that's bright and light, something
- 1:25:40that's realistic and shows it in a
- 1:25:42relatable home and something that really
- 1:25:44shows the poster up close. Don't select
- 1:25:45mock-ups that are very zoomed out and
- 1:25:47far away from the actual product. So,
- 1:25:49how mock-ups work, they are normally
- 1:25:51Photoshop documents or files within
- 1:25:53Canva where they essentially have a
- 1:25:55smart object layer. This means that you
- 1:25:57will have a frame. You'll be able to
- 1:25:59click a layer on Photoshop. It will open
- 1:26:01another window. You place your poster
- 1:26:03within that window and close it. Come
- 1:26:05back out. Your poster is now within that
- 1:26:07frame and looks nice and lovely. So,
- 1:26:09there's a few ways you can go about
- 1:26:10getting mock-ups. Unfortunately, it's
- 1:26:12quite a manual process. For example,
- 1:26:14Canva has a lot of free ones. So, if
- 1:26:16you're trying to start out without
- 1:26:17spending any money, then Canva is a good
- 1:26:19place to go. Some of their mock-ups do
- 1:26:21look decent. They're not all the best,
- 1:26:23but it's free to place your posters
- 1:26:24within these mockups. Like I said, it
- 1:26:26just does take a bit of manual work
- 1:26:28because you do want to be using
- 1:26:29realistically about five mockups cuz
- 1:26:32it's really good to present your product
- 1:26:34within different scenarios around the
- 1:26:35home. So, yeah, Canva has the pros of
- 1:26:37being free, but unfortunately it is
- 1:26:39quite manual. Another option is you can
- 1:26:41actually pay for mock-ups and download
- 1:26:42them from Etsy. But again, this does
- 1:26:45involve the manualness because you will
- 1:26:46then have to take these mockups into
- 1:26:48Photo P, which is actually a free online
- 1:26:50version of Photoshop. And yes, you can
- 1:26:53use this to place posters and mockups.
- 1:26:54So you can download a mockup through
- 1:26:56Etsy, for example, upload it to Photop
- 1:26:58and then again click on that smart
- 1:27:00object layer and upload your poster.
- 1:27:02Again, bear in mind, make sure that if
- 1:27:04you are buying mock-ups on Etsy, then
- 1:27:05you buy ones that are a size to fit your
- 1:27:08designs that you have made because some
- 1:27:09might be selling mock-ups is as 24x 36
- 1:27:12in, for example. This unfortunately is a
- 1:27:15manual process as I said. However, this
- 1:27:17is something that our software solves
- 1:27:19and it solves it really, really well cuz
- 1:27:22when you first come on to our bulk
- 1:27:23listing tool, you create a template and
- 1:27:26in here we have a library of over a 100
- 1:27:28mockups for you to choose from that are
- 1:27:30all completely free to use. You can
- 1:27:31select up to five per listing. And then
- 1:27:34you can drag and drop as many posters as
- 1:27:36you want. It will place all of these
- 1:27:38posters into these mock-ups for you
- 1:27:40instantly. And then not only that, it
- 1:27:42will then fill out the rest of the SEO
- 1:27:44like your titles, descriptions, and
- 1:27:46tags. So essentially, you'll be able to
- 1:27:48upload hundreds of posters instantly
- 1:27:50through this software, placing them all
- 1:27:52into mockups, doing all of the SEO, and
- 1:27:54then you can click a button to publish
- 1:27:56them all to Etsy. Now, obviously, we are
- 1:27:59biased. It's our software, but I genu
- 1:28:01it's it's amazing. Like I when I first
- 1:28:04started my poster shots 18 months ago,
- 1:28:06we didn't have this [music] software. It
- 1:28:08took me about 4 months and 3 or 4 hours
- 1:28:10every night to upload my 5,000 products
- 1:28:12to Etsy. It was a long hard manual
- 1:28:15process and time that I could have spent
- 1:28:17creating new products was being spent on
- 1:28:19uploading to Etsy. This software
- 1:28:22completely solves that to be honest
- 1:28:23[music] and it's allin-one. So yeah,
- 1:28:25check it out. We have many different
- 1:28:26tiers based on your usage, but it is an
- 1:28:28incredible tool and I do recommend it. I
- 1:28:30understand you might not want to spend
- 1:28:31any money up front at the start, but
- 1:28:33time is money as they say and uh this
- 1:28:36software really pays for itself because
- 1:28:38a it's not very expensive, but b again
- 1:28:41one sale from a frame poster and you've
- 1:28:44paid for your monthly cost and with this
- 1:28:46software you can upload so many so
- 1:28:48quickly that you will be getting uh
- 1:28:50regular sales eventually again as long
- 1:28:52as you make good products. Um, so yeah,
- 1:28:54anyway, that's my sales pitch. Let's now
- 1:28:56go through the rest of the SEO on Etsy
- 1:28:57because I still think it's good for you
- 1:28:58to have an understanding of that, even
- 1:29:00if you do go the software route, which I
- 1:29:02really can't recommend enough. It's
- 1:29:03completely changed my life. But
- 1:29:05actually, I want you to understand the
- 1:29:07pain of manually uploading a poster and
- 1:29:10manually placing all of your posters
- 1:29:11into mockups to then really appreciate
- 1:29:13how cool this software is and how uh how
- 1:29:16much less painful Etsy is with this
- 1:29:18software. Okay, so we've put our posters
- 1:29:20into mockups. Now, another thing that we
- 1:29:22can upload is a other listing images and
- 1:29:25also a listing video. So, you might as
- 1:29:27well maximize everything that Etsy gives
- 1:29:28you. So, uploading other listing images
- 1:29:30is a great way of doing this. You are
- 1:29:32allowed up to 20 on Etsy, which is
- 1:29:34definitely probably a bit excessive. We
- 1:29:36recommend using five mockups per listing
- 1:29:38and then filling out some other image
- 1:29:40squares with some information squares
- 1:29:41that you can create. So, for example, on
- 1:29:43one of my shops, I often run a 20% off
- 1:29:46free or more poster sale because it just
- 1:29:48encourages bigger orders and like I
- 1:29:50don't mind profiting less per item to
- 1:29:52profit more overall from a bigger sale.
- 1:29:54So, you can create a graphic to explain
- 1:29:55this and to encourage customers to add
- 1:29:57three or more to their basket. I then
- 1:29:59have a listing square telling people
- 1:30:00that, you know, if they want
- 1:30:02personalization, all they have to do is
- 1:30:03ask. And we can do things like change
- 1:30:05the text on the poster, add a gift
- 1:30:07message, remove borders, and stuff like
- 1:30:09that. I've then just uploaded my shop
- 1:30:11logo as another one. And then I have a
- 1:30:13listing square just demonstrating that
- 1:30:15all posters are like sent in high
- 1:30:16protective packaging just showing off a
- 1:30:18couple of designs and like the quality
- 1:30:20of the paper. And then I have a listing
- 1:30:22square showing off the frames that we
- 1:30:23offer. We have created these for you
- 1:30:25guys to use. They are available within
- 1:30:27our software and you can add them into
- 1:30:29your software template on there or go
- 1:30:31into our school and they will be linked
- 1:30:32somewhere. But yeah, this just showcases
- 1:30:34the customers what kind of frames they
- 1:30:36will arrive in if they purchase a framed
- 1:30:38print because you really want to be
- 1:30:39pushing for those frame sales because
- 1:30:40the profit margins are so high with
- 1:30:43them. Another cool thing to do is to
- 1:30:44create a listing video. These are a bit
- 1:30:46more complicated to set up than images,
- 1:30:49but it's fine to use the same one for
- 1:30:51all of your listings. You don't need to
- 1:30:52do like one specific to each listing.
- 1:30:54That would be way too much workflow. So,
- 1:30:56for example, mine is just a overview
- 1:30:58scan of loads of posters that I have on
- 1:31:00my shop. And I also you take the
- 1:31:02opportunity to display some information
- 1:31:03such as the fact that we use high
- 1:31:04quality 200 gsm plus poster paper. How I
- 1:31:07did this was I bought this from Etsy. It
- 1:31:09comes as a video template and will come
- 1:31:11with instructions as to how to use it. I
- 1:31:13then dragged it into photo and uploaded
- 1:31:15my images into it that way. You can also
- 1:31:17do similar things with Canva, but I
- 1:31:19would recommend spending the I think
- 1:31:21this cost me three or4 pound on Etsy and
- 1:31:23then gave me a nice video to use across
- 1:31:25all of my listings [music] cuz Etsy
- 1:31:27really does push and promote listings
- 1:31:28that use video. In fact, they say here
- 1:31:30that they found that listings with video
- 1:31:32get twice as many orders as listings
- 1:31:34with just photos. So, it does really
- 1:31:36help you stand out and it's definitely
- 1:31:37worth doing. Again, through our
- 1:31:39software, you can create your video
- 1:31:40once, drag it into your template, and
- 1:31:41then that will be listed to [music] all
- 1:31:42of your listings alongside all of your
- 1:31:44posters that will be put into mock-ups.
- 1:31:46Okay, so now I'm going to take you
- 1:31:48through one of my listings on my travel
- 1:31:49shop and show you what I've done for my
- 1:31:51SEO, what it kind of looks like, and all
- 1:31:53of the important fields that you need to
- 1:31:54be aware of. I'm going to show you two
- 1:31:56examples. One will be from my travel
- 1:31:57shop and my other will be from my art
- 1:31:59print shop for a more generic listing.
- 1:32:00So, let's take a look at this Mount Fuji
- 1:32:02poster that I have here. So, as you can
- 1:32:04see, I filled out my mockups and my
- 1:32:06listing squares. I should have five
- 1:32:08here. It's very naughty of me that I
- 1:32:09don't. Don't do as I say, not as I do.
- 1:32:12So, for a category, what I basically do
- 1:32:13is I type print and then that brings up
- 1:32:16wall decor, home and living, home decor,
- 1:32:18wall decor. I select that and it is a
- 1:32:20physical item that is made to order.
- 1:32:22That is what you should fill out here.
- 1:32:24Once again, I won't shield the software
- 1:32:25too much, but this is all filled out for
- 1:32:27you and automatically done in bulk and
- 1:32:29listed to Etsy straight away [music] uh
- 1:32:31through the software. So, it is it is
- 1:32:33really cool. I'm only saying it so much
- 1:32:34cuz we're very proud of it. All right,
- 1:32:36so with your title here, I often say
- 1:32:39maximize everything Etsy gives you. As
- 1:32:41you can see, you can have up to 140
- 1:32:43characters in [music] this title, but I
- 1:32:44do not have that. That is because Etsy
- 1:32:46have recently made a change to their
- 1:32:48titles where they are now encouraging
- 1:32:49buyers to have shorter titles. [music]
- 1:32:51So, they actually now have a tool as
- 1:32:53well. My all my titles used to be 140
- 1:32:55characters long. I would maximize
- 1:32:56maximize maximize. They released a tool
- 1:32:58that through AI changed everybody's
- 1:33:00titles to be shorter and that is now
- 1:33:02what they recommend. As you can see
- 1:33:04here, they have some tips here. So bear
- 1:33:06this in mind. They clearly state the
- 1:33:07item for sale. Includes the most
- 1:33:09important traits and streamline for
- 1:33:11clarity and scannability. Like they want
- 1:33:13you to use shorter [music] titles. Now
- 1:33:15before everybody's titles would be huge
- 1:33:17chunks of text like broken up with
- 1:33:18dashes. They've moved away from that
- 1:33:20now. And yeah, you want to be realistic.
- 1:33:22You want to be objective and avoid
- 1:33:24subjective words. So yeah, you can keep
- 1:33:26it really simple nowadays. For example,
- 1:33:28this is just Mount Fuji Japan art print
- 1:33:30semig gloss travel poster. You could
- 1:33:32again this was done by Etsy's AI. You
- 1:33:34could even remove semig gloss and add
- 1:33:36Japanese travel poster for example. But
- 1:33:38yeah, just keep it simple. You don't
- 1:33:40need to add too much to the titles
- 1:33:41anymore nowadays. [music]
- 1:33:42I'll show you a similar example on my
- 1:33:44art print shop. Let's use this uh image
- 1:33:46as an example. It is a poster of a cat
- 1:33:49with a glass of wine. And as you can
- 1:33:50see, the title is as simple as cat with
- 1:33:53wine art print funny bathroom animal
- 1:33:55poster. That's as simple as it needs to
- 1:33:56be. That's all you kind of need to do.
- 1:33:58Don't need to add too many
- 1:33:59complications. Now with the description,
- 1:34:01this is just a good opportunity to hit
- 1:34:02some buzzwords. So for example, I'm
- 1:34:04highlighting the quality of the paper
- 1:34:05that we use. I'm saying favorite
- 1:34:08location cuz this is travel related. So
- 1:34:09now I'm going to hit some buzzwords like
- 1:34:11modern, bright, remember, holiday,
- 1:34:13vacation, travels, things like that.
- 1:34:15Just apply the buzzwords to whatever
- 1:34:17kind of category your poster is within.
- 1:34:19So, for example, here because it's
- 1:34:20travel, I'm saying beach lover, mountain
- 1:34:22climber, cultures, and then also it's
- 1:34:24good to mention rooms of the house
- 1:34:26because some people might search bedroom
- 1:34:27poster. And I've got in here bedroom,
- 1:34:29office, lounge, hallway. It's just a
- 1:34:31good way of filling this out. Also, you
- 1:34:33don't necessarily need to do a different
- 1:34:35description per poster. That kind of
- 1:34:37does duplicate efforts and takes up a
- 1:34:38bit of time. What the good thing about
- 1:34:40our software is for example you could
- 1:34:42copy and paste this add this to your
- 1:34:44template and then this bit of the
- 1:34:45description will be appended onto each
- 1:34:48description and then it will also
- 1:34:50generate a bit of description specific
- 1:34:52to that poster which is really cool and
- 1:34:54does really help with SEO. Okay, the
- 1:34:55next bit is variations and this is where
- 1:34:57we set up that we are selling a poster
- 1:35:00as an option and that we also have
- 1:35:01options for frame prints. So we at
- 1:35:03Printrim by default offer oak, white and
- 1:35:06black frame. So, it's important to offer
- 1:35:08all three of these as well as the
- 1:35:10unframed option. And this is done within
- 1:35:12variations. So, this is kind of a
- 1:35:14two-step process. So, what you need to
- 1:35:15do first of all is create a initial
- 1:35:17variation called uh frame or whatever
- 1:35:20you want to call it. And then the four
- 1:35:21options here are print only, black
- 1:35:24frame, white frame, and oak frame. And
- 1:35:26then you need to create a second
- 1:35:27variation called size. And this is where
- 1:35:29you add in all of the sizes that print
- 1:35:31offers. So, you've got your A sizes and
- 1:35:34then you got every different aspect
- 1:35:35ratio. You really might as well maximize
- 1:35:37here. And then we need to click the
- 1:35:39prices vary for frame and size. Now we
- 1:35:42have our recommended pricing here at
- 1:35:44Printrimp. You don't need to stick to
- 1:35:45these prices, but we have recommended
- 1:35:47these based on a lot of market research
- 1:35:50and finding what works for our
- 1:35:51customers. These are within like the
- 1:35:53market rates so that you are competitive
- 1:35:55on Etsy, but also so that you experience
- 1:35:57healthy profit margins. So this takes a
- 1:35:59while to fill out for the first time
- 1:36:00because you need to type in your
- 1:36:02printonly price for each size. Then you
- 1:36:04need to type out your frame price for
- 1:36:06each size. And that and you have to
- 1:36:08triple this ethics. You need to do it
- 1:36:10for black, oak, and white as well. Once
- 1:36:12again, within our software here, as you
- 1:36:13can see, these come automatically filled
- 1:36:15out for your listing. So, you do not
- 1:36:17need to do this and do not need to
- 1:36:19manually type out your size at all. So,
- 1:36:21as I said, you get five free listing
- 1:36:23credits through our software. So, what
- 1:36:24you should do is create your first
- 1:36:26product through our software because it
- 1:36:28will automatically fill all of this out
- 1:36:30for you because then you get to have a
- 1:36:32play with the software, but also it is
- 1:36:33done for you and then you can copy over
- 1:36:36listings in the future to save this
- 1:36:38information cuz otherwise it's a lot of
- 1:36:40manually typing out numbers and oh my
- 1:36:41god, trust you'll go crazy. Uh, trust me
- 1:36:43from experience. Now, I think SEO is
- 1:36:46actually quite common sense. Uh, that's
- 1:36:48one bit of advice I have for you. Don't
- 1:36:50overthink it too much. If you're selling
- 1:36:52travel prints, then include keywords
- 1:36:54like travel and vacation and the country
- 1:36:56and the city. If you're selling floral
- 1:36:58art, then floral wall art, flower art
- 1:37:01print. Like, it's often not that
- 1:37:03complicated. And I see a lot of people
- 1:37:04spend a lot of time on e- rank and
- 1:37:05things like that. Again, this is not
- 1:37:07necessarily maybe the best advice, but
- 1:37:09I've never used a tool like that. I just
- 1:37:11uh upload based off vibes and like my
- 1:37:13shops do really well. So, I don't know
- 1:37:15if that's good advice I should be giving
- 1:37:17here, but that's been my personal
- 1:37:18experience. And again, our software has
- 1:37:20been completely trained up to know what
- 1:37:22the best kind of uh keywords is. It
- 1:37:24scans Etsy for what is working and then
- 1:37:27does it based on that. So yeah, just an
- 1:37:29FYI. But yeah, just think about what
- 1:37:30people are likely to be searching
- 1:37:32because the next section is tags. And
- 1:37:34these are actually the most important
- 1:37:35part of SEO. This is largely what Etsy
- 1:37:37based their search results from is how
- 1:37:39you have categorized your products with
- 1:37:41tags. Now again, I'll show you how kind
- 1:37:44of easy it can be to do. So with this
- 1:37:46travel poster for example, literally
- 1:37:48travel print, travel poster, travel wall
- 1:37:50art, gift for traveler, gift is a good
- 1:37:51one to get in there. Then I've mentioned
- 1:37:53Iba multiple times because it is an IFA
- 1:37:55poster. I've mentioned Spain. I
- 1:37:56mentioned IB for night life cuz that's a
- 1:37:58big theme. It's kind of common sense to
- 1:38:00be honest. And the same applies for
- 1:38:02other listings too with this cat
- 1:38:03drinking a wine poster. I've got animal
- 1:38:05wall art, cat poster, cat wall art,
- 1:38:07funny animal print, uh like [music]
- 1:38:09bathroom poster, things like that. Funny
- 1:38:11cat art, quirky art, wine art. It's it's
- 1:38:15really using common sense of what you've
- 1:38:16got going on in the poster. Again,
- 1:38:18within our software, something that's
- 1:38:19quite cool is that you can set default
- 1:38:21tags for your listings. So, say you're
- 1:38:22uploading travel posters, you know that
- 1:38:24you probably want travel poster, travel,
- 1:38:26wall art, vacation poster to be present
- 1:38:28on each listing. So, within your
- 1:38:30template, you can set default tags and
- 1:38:32then that will apply them to uh all of
- 1:38:33your listings going forward. And then
- 1:38:35again, it generates the other tags based
- 1:38:37on what is working well on Etsy um from
- 1:38:39a lot of extensive research. For default
- 1:38:41materials, you actually don't need to
- 1:38:42put too much in here. It's not too much
- 1:38:44of an important field. I normally type
- 1:38:46in a GSM weight of the paper. We use a
- 1:38:49bit of a mix of print. Our bare minimum
- 1:38:51is 200 GSM, but 90% of orders go out on
- 1:38:54about 240. So, I often type in 240 GSM
- 1:38:57and then type in museum grade paper.
- 1:38:59Again, if you know that you're going to
- 1:39:00be doing satin for all of your orders or
- 1:39:02matte or [music] gloss, then you can
- 1:39:03type that in here. But these fields
- 1:39:05aren't massively relevant for SEO, so I
- 1:39:07wouldn't worry too much. There's a lot
- 1:39:09of other fields here. It's up to you
- 1:39:11whether you want to spend the time if
- 1:39:12you're doing this manually uh to set
- 1:39:14like the primary color and secondary
- 1:39:15color for example. [music] But again, if
- 1:39:17you use a software, it will
- 1:39:19automatically pick up uh the primary
- 1:39:21color and things like that and fill it
- 1:39:22out automatically for you, which does
- 1:39:24give you that small extra edge with
- 1:39:25[music] SEO. But if you're doing it
- 1:39:27manually, it might take too much time to
- 1:39:28do it that way. Once again, with the
- 1:39:30recommended prices that we have here are
- 1:39:32the expected profit [music] margins from
- 1:39:33them. As you can see, it's very, very
- 1:39:35healthy. Selling posters really is
- 1:39:37awesome and there is a lot of money in
- 1:39:38it. These prices are based on UK prices
- 1:39:40and account for VAT charged by us and
- 1:39:42also Etsy fees. So, this is complete
- 1:39:44take-home profit after everything. This
- 1:39:47is exactly what you'll be left over with
- 1:39:48after [music] every sale. Now, if you go
- 1:39:50to our actual print pricing list, uh we
- 1:39:52have a really handy table on our website
- 1:39:53where you can see the prices for each
- 1:39:55size in each country and also the
- 1:39:56expected production times. But what you
- 1:39:58will notice is that other countries such
- 1:40:00as Europe or Canada and sometimes the US
- 1:40:03is a bit more expensive than the UK.
- 1:40:05This is just because the cost of
- 1:40:06printing is lower in the UK, especially
- 1:40:08with postage and stuff. Like Europe,
- 1:40:10shipping is a bit more expensive. The
- 1:40:12same with Canada. They just have a
- 1:40:13general higher cost of living. So, the
- 1:40:15print costs are often 3 to4 [music]
- 1:40:17higher in those other countries. So,
- 1:40:19Etsy's now made it so you can actually
- 1:40:21set a price in the United Kingdom, you
- 1:40:23can set a price in the United States,
- 1:40:25and you can set a price everywhere else,
- 1:40:27which is really, really handy. Now, I
- 1:40:28recommend you look at the difference in
- 1:40:30cost uh on your own end for this, but my
- 1:40:32recommendation anyway is to set the US
- 1:40:34at two pound higher and then everywhere
- 1:40:37else at £4 higher. Again, this is up to
- 1:40:39you, but this accounts for the
- 1:40:40differences. The US has a bigger
- 1:40:42variation from England for the small
- 1:40:44sizes, but then as soon as you go up to
- 1:40:45like the 24x36s and the 12x8s, they're
- 1:40:49actually pretty similar priced. So, two
- 1:40:50pound is a nice middle ground for the
- 1:40:52US. And then Europe and Canada, you will
- 1:40:54normally find £4 differences between
- 1:40:55printing [music] costs. This is just a
- 1:40:57nice way of offsetting the differences
- 1:40:59in printing and it means that your
- 1:41:00profits across the board are pretty
- 1:41:02close to these uh profit margins
- 1:41:04displayed on our print recommended
- 1:41:05prices uh sheet. Again, if you're
- 1:41:07setting global and domestic pricing
- 1:41:09within the Etsy listing, uh it's quite
- 1:41:11annoying cuz you do have to fill it out
- 1:41:13all manually once yourself, but then
- 1:41:14once you do this once, you can copy it
- 1:41:16across between listings. But again, with
- 1:41:18our software, you can just upload all to
- 1:41:20Etsy and then select them in bulk and
- 1:41:21then edit the prices there. uh you can
- 1:41:23come in, select whichever ones you've
- 1:41:25uploaded from our software. Edit the
- 1:41:27prices for US buyers and then edit
- 1:41:28prices for buyers everywhere else just
- 1:41:30by increasing it by a fixed amount. You
- 1:41:32have to do it afterwards in Etsy rather
- 1:41:34than doing it through our software just
- 1:41:35because of the way the Etsy API is set
- 1:41:37up with global and domestic pricing, but
- 1:41:39it's very easy to do so in bulk. Then
- 1:41:41you have your quantity field. You can
- 1:41:42put whatever you want for this really
- 1:41:44because it's print on demand. So we
- 1:41:45technically have an unlimited quantity
- 1:41:47of all of our products. Uh I put 999 on
- 1:41:50some of my listings. On others I put 99.
- 1:41:52It doesn't matter. too much. Then you
- 1:41:53need to fill out your SKU. For those of
- 1:41:56you that don't know what this is, this
- 1:41:57is a stockkeeping unit and it is
- 1:41:59basically just what the file is referred
- 1:42:01to as within Etsy system. Now, these are
- 1:42:04important for print with our
- 1:42:06integration. This is how we know which
- 1:42:08file to send to for which order. So, you
- 1:42:11don't need to over complicate this.
- 1:42:12Basically, what I would recommend is
- 1:42:14setting your SKU for your poster within
- 1:42:16Etsy as the file name of your poster on
- 1:42:18your computer. This means that when you
- 1:42:20upload your posters to Printroom, you
- 1:42:22can do so through bulk upload, it will
- 1:42:24name your files as what they are saved
- 1:42:27as on your computer by default. So then
- 1:42:29if this matches up in Etsy as your SKU,
- 1:42:32this means that when you get an order on
- 1:42:33Etsy and come to Printrim, when you
- 1:42:35click a button to import your orders, it
- 1:42:37will match up your file within Printroom
- 1:42:40with your Etsy order and will pull over
- 1:42:42the correct poster so it's automatically
- 1:42:44added to your order. I hope that makes
- 1:42:45sense. That sounded complicated as it
- 1:42:47was coming out of my mouth, but it's
- 1:42:48really not. Basically one SKU per
- 1:42:50product. Set it as how you have your
- 1:42:52file named on your computer. Then you're
- 1:42:54good to go. Now coming down to the
- 1:42:56delivery, processing and return section.
- 1:42:58[music] You need to set up a processing
- 1:42:59profile. And basically this just
- 1:43:01communicates to your customers how long
- 1:43:03after they order will you dispatch their
- 1:43:04product. So let's say if we create a new
- 1:43:07profile here, it's simply just selecting
- 1:43:09that it's made to order because it is
- 1:43:10cuz it's print on demand. And then you
- 1:43:12want to select your processing time. I
- 1:43:14would recommend between 1 to two or 1 to
- 1:43:163 days for this. You can select one day
- 1:43:19if you want to communicate really rapid
- 1:43:21dispatch to your customer. But this does
- 1:43:22mean that you then have to log on to
- 1:43:24Etsy every day to send orders because
- 1:43:25otherwise they will be sent late and you
- 1:43:27don't want orders being marked as late
- 1:43:29in Etsy system because you want to be
- 1:43:31aiming to be a star seller which we will
- 1:43:32get on to later. So I think 1 to two
- 1:43:34days or 1 to 3 days just gives you that
- 1:43:36bit more of breathing room. I used to
- 1:43:38have mine set as one day but then moved
- 1:43:40it down to 1 to three and I will tell
- 1:43:41you now I've actually not seen a drop
- 1:43:43off in orders at all. though I think it
- 1:43:45is fine and better to do 1 to two or 1
- 1:43:48to 3 days to be honest. Also, you can
- 1:43:49see here it says underneath see your
- 1:43:51shop's order processing schedule. This
- 1:43:53is something very important to set
- 1:43:55because you want to set up your working
- 1:43:56days correctly. We work with very family
- 1:43:59brand print shops. That's like our
- 1:44:00ethos. We want to partner with smaller
- 1:44:02local businesses. That means that they
- 1:44:03actually really care about the posters
- 1:44:04that they print. So, because of that,
- 1:44:06our print location shut on the weekend.
- 1:44:08So, you want to come into here and set
- 1:44:09your order processing schedule as Monday
- 1:44:11to Friday. This is better for multiple
- 1:44:13reasons. A, it means that you don't have
- 1:44:15to log on to Etsy over the weekend and
- 1:44:16worry about sending orders. You can
- 1:44:18relax, switch off for the weekend and
- 1:44:20then come back to hopefully a busy
- 1:44:22weekend of orders on Monday. And yeah,
- 1:44:23this just accounts your only working
- 1:44:25days as Monday to Friday and provides
- 1:44:28more accurate uh delivery updates to
- 1:44:30your customers because our print
- 1:44:31locations will shut every Saturday and
- 1:44:34Sunday. You can still place orders on
- 1:44:35the weekend. It just means that they'll
- 1:44:37be printed first thing Monday morning.
- 1:44:38Say you order them on a Saturday. So,
- 1:44:40it's nice to have this plugged into the
- 1:44:42system on Etsy's side as well. So,
- 1:44:44that's the processing profile. It's easy
- 1:44:46as that. And then delivery profile as
- 1:44:48well is something you need to set up for
- 1:44:49all of your listings. You can just call
- 1:44:51this print room if you would like to.
- 1:44:52And then for a postcode, you can either
- 1:44:54put your own postcode. We have our
- 1:44:56office postcode here. So, feel free to
- 1:44:58use that if you would like to. And now,
- 1:44:59delivery profiles is a very important
- 1:45:01section. This is where we set up for our
- 1:45:03print on demand model and ensure that we
- 1:45:05are providing free shipping for our
- 1:45:07customers worldwide as much as possible.
- 1:45:08Because bear in mind we've accounted for
- 1:45:10the difference in printing shop through
- 1:45:12doing global and domestic pricing.
- 1:45:13[music] So here you're selecting postage
- 1:45:15methods which communicate how long it
- 1:45:17will take to deliver to your customers.
- 1:45:19It's actually more important to select
- 1:45:21what you pick here by the amount of
- 1:45:23business days that it will take rather
- 1:45:24than the actual courier. We use multiple
- 1:45:26couriers through printion but you can
- 1:45:28change that retroactively when you add
- 1:45:30the tracking. So what you select now
- 1:45:32isn't necessarily what your customer
- 1:45:34will be told it's sent with. That
- 1:45:35happens when you add [music] the
- 1:45:36tracking. So don't worry about that. So
- 1:45:37for the United Kingdom, I select Royal
- 1:45:39Mail Secondass as that is what the
- 1:45:41majority of our orders are sent with.
- 1:45:42This communicates a two to [music] three
- 1:45:44business day delivery time to your
- 1:45:45customers. Bear in mind this is in
- 1:45:47combination with your processing time of
- 1:45:481 to 3 days as well. So it does pretty
- 1:45:50accurately convey to your customers when
- 1:45:52they can [music] expect the delivery of
- 1:45:53their poster. Now it's important to set
- 1:45:56up delivery profiles for each of the
- 1:45:57countries that we have domestic shipping
- 1:45:59within. You can see this by coming to
- 1:46:01the pricing table on our website. Our
- 1:46:03main countries are England, Australia,
- 1:46:06America, Canada, and then quite a few
- 1:46:08throughout Europe. We have a couple
- 1:46:09different European zones. So, we have
- 1:46:11our EU1, EU2, and then also France,
- 1:46:14Spain, and Germany are also cheaper and
- 1:46:16have their own independent prices cuz we
- 1:46:17will always pass on savings to you guys
- 1:46:19when we can. So, I'd recommend providing
- 1:46:21free delivery to United Kingdom, to
- 1:46:23Australia, to America, to Canada, and to
- 1:46:26all the countries in EU1 and EU2 because
- 1:46:29we have made up the difference by doing
- 1:46:31global and domestic pricing. You can
- 1:46:33also use your own prerogative on this.
- 1:46:34If you wanted to, for example, make up
- 1:46:36more for the difference in printing cost
- 1:46:38for EU2 for example or Canada, you could
- 1:46:40charge two pound shipping for Canada,
- 1:46:42for example, [music] to just make that
- 1:46:44extra bit more. That's completely up to
- 1:46:46you. I like providing free shipping. I
- 1:46:48think it encourages orders and it's kind
- 1:46:49of part of the beauty of the print on
- 1:46:50demand business model, but that's
- 1:46:52completely your prerogative. And it's
- 1:46:53important to select these countries that
- 1:46:55we deliver to one by one manually
- 1:46:57because then that allows you to group
- 1:46:59the rest of the world because we do
- 1:47:01deliver to the rest of the world. But we
- 1:47:02do this at a fixed fee and these are
- 1:47:04sent from the United Kingdom. So you
- 1:47:05want to communicate that accurately to
- 1:47:07customers. Honestly, you will hardly
- 1:47:09ever get any sales for the rest of the
- 1:47:11world. That we pick our print location
- 1:47:13strategically based around where orders
- 1:47:15are actually coming from. So, we charge
- 1:47:17a £849 flat fee for rest of the world
- 1:47:20delivery for prints and it varies
- 1:47:22slightly for frames, but that's all
- 1:47:23communicated in on our website. So, I'd
- 1:47:25recommend just setting up everywhere
- 1:47:27else, selecting that you send with Royal
- 1:47:28Mail International track. So, hopefully
- 1:47:30that makes sense. That's how we set up
- 1:47:32our Etsy shop to be ready for the print
- 1:47:33on demand global shipping business
- 1:47:35model. And then you only need to do this
- 1:47:37once and then this is applied across all
- 1:47:38of your listings. So, don't worry, you
- 1:47:40won't be needing to fiddle with all of
- 1:47:41this every time. Okay. Okay, so just to
- 1:47:43quickly show you what I mean about the
- 1:47:44importance of SKUs. I'm going to show
- 1:47:46you how our Etsy integration works cuz
- 1:47:48all you have to do is come onto your
- 1:47:49print portal, connect your Etsy as we've
- 1:47:52been through before, and then when you
- 1:47:53have sales, you just click import orders
- 1:47:55on the create orders page. Now, whether
- 1:47:58I've sold a framed print or a standard
- 1:48:00poster, it will import that over and
- 1:48:02identify what I have sold. It will
- 1:48:04import the customer's address, the
- 1:48:05customer's name, and as you can see,
- 1:48:08when I have my SKUs correctly set up, as
- 1:48:10in one SKU per product that matches the
- 1:48:13file name on my computer that I uploaded
- 1:48:15to Printrim, it has the order image
- 1:48:17attached to the order. It's
- 1:48:19automatically picked this up. And this
- 1:48:21is fully ready to be shipped out as a
- 1:48:23poster. As soon as I pay for my orders,
- 1:48:25I've done one here as an example where
- 1:48:26the SKU on Etsy is different to the file
- 1:48:29name in Printrim. As you can see, it has
- 1:48:31all of the order details here. it just
- 1:48:33hasn't added the image. So, all I would
- 1:48:34need to do is upload my poster and like
- 1:48:38this. It'd be very easy to do, but just
- 1:48:40showing the importance of making sure
- 1:48:41your SKUs match and also uploading your
- 1:48:44images to Printrim beforehand just so
- 1:48:46that when you click import orders, they
- 1:48:47all appear there. But that's how easy it
- 1:48:49is to send orders [music] of Printroom.
- 1:48:50These will automatically now get sent
- 1:48:52out to my customers wherever they are in
- 1:48:54the world, which is very cool. Just a
- 1:48:56quick note about listing multiple
- 1:48:57products at the same time. If you're
- 1:48:59doing this within Etsy, then it's
- 1:49:00actually a lot easier to copy a listing
- 1:49:02each time rather than start from
- 1:49:03scratch. This means that you just need
- 1:49:05to change the title, descriptions, tags,
- 1:49:08the images, uh, of your mockups and
- 1:49:10stuff like that rather than having to
- 1:49:11start with the variations and prices
- 1:49:13from scratch every time cuz oh my god,
- 1:49:14that would take even longer than it does
- 1:49:16at the moment. So yeah, obviously it
- 1:49:17does take a bit of time to do it
- 1:49:18manually, but the option is there for
- 1:49:21you to do so. Obviously, we do have our
- 1:49:22software that we would recommend. It
- 1:49:24really saves up the time and then it
- 1:49:26means that you can spend your time
- 1:49:27actually creating products rather than
- 1:49:29having to waste time uploading them to
- 1:49:30Etsy. Cuz really Etsy is quite a numbers
- 1:49:33game, right? The more posters you can
- 1:49:34upload, the better and the more results
- 1:49:36you will see. So the more you can spend
- 1:49:38your time creating products rather than
- 1:49:40uploading them, the better. So if you
- 1:49:42can simplify the uploading process
- 1:49:44through our printing software, then
- 1:49:45you're going to be on to a winner.
- 1:49:46Obviously, it does come at a small cost
- 1:49:49depending on your usage as well, but
- 1:49:50just so you know, the option is there to
- 1:49:52really speed up the whole process. It's
- 1:49:54been a complete game changer since we
- 1:49:56built this and we're very proud of it.
- 1:49:57So there you go. One other thing that
- 1:49:59you might want to bear in mind and I'll
- 1:50:00show you some examples of is offering
- 1:50:01bundles on Etsy. So you could actually,
- 1:50:03for example, sell sets of two or three
- 1:50:05or four or five or an infinite amount of
- 1:50:08posters. You can do this just by finding
- 1:50:10a mockup that displays, for example,
- 1:50:12free posters and then just set up the
- 1:50:14listing to account for the fact that
- 1:50:16it's three posters in one. So you can
- 1:50:17just times your price for each size by
- 1:50:19three. Uh this is a great way of just
- 1:50:21encouraging slightly bigger value
- 1:50:22orders. Uh it's not something you have
- 1:50:24to do. It depends on what posters you're
- 1:50:26selling and if they work as bundles, but
- 1:50:28just something [music] to think about.
- 1:50:29You can even do up to sets of 10, you
- 1:50:31know, if you wanted to. Uh just make
- 1:50:33sure you price your products accordingly
- 1:50:35and make sure it makes sense. But yeah,
- 1:50:36that's that's maybe something to
- 1:50:37consider. I'd have it on my art shop
- 1:50:39here and a lot of these do sell and then
- 1:50:41it's just that much of a bigger high
- 1:50:43value order every time. Especially with
- 1:50:44frames. Before you know it, if you sell
- 1:50:46a bundle of freeear frames, you've made
- 1:50:48£150 in one order, which is absolutely
- 1:50:51crazy. But that is the beauty of selling
- 1:50:53framed art prints through print. The
- 1:50:55profit margins awesome. Okay, so
- 1:50:57hopefully that is a very nice and clear
- 1:50:59overview of how to upload your products
- 1:51:00to Etsy. I really do implore you to go
- 1:51:03have a play with our software. Like I've
- 1:51:05said, you get to upload five listings
- 1:51:06completely free of charge every month. I
- 1:51:08think you'll find our mockup library has
- 1:51:10an amazing selection and saves you from
- 1:51:12doing that yourself. You also can upload
- 1:51:14your own mockups to our software if you
- 1:51:15would so like to. if you found some you
- 1:51:17like for sale on Etsy or something like
- 1:51:19that. [music] It really really does
- 1:51:20simplify the whole thing and ensures
- 1:51:22that you get your SEO correct. But
- 1:51:24please do bear in mind if you don't want
- 1:51:25to pay for the software, still do this
- 1:51:27manually. Like it takes a bit longer,
- 1:51:29but it's still so worth it. All of my
- 1:51:31shops that I built up, believe it or
- 1:51:33not, I uploaded 5,000 posters manually
- 1:51:36before we built our software. I really
- 1:51:38wish we had our software at the time
- 1:51:39because it would have saved me months of
- 1:51:41work. But that's that's it. We have it
- 1:51:43now. So there we go. Once again, I just
- 1:51:45want to quickly shout out our school
- 1:51:46community. If you are watching this on
- 1:51:48YouTube, then please do look at our
- 1:51:50printer school. It's a completely free
- 1:51:52to join community. We have loads of
- 1:51:53people asking questions and learning
- 1:51:55from each other every day. Everybody is
- 1:51:57in the same boat and is pursuing
- 1:51:58building a Etsy poster shop. It's
- 1:52:01awesome. And all of this video and more
- 1:52:03is on there. Uh so yeah, check it out.
- 1:52:05Feel free to ask any questions the to
- 1:52:07the community and everything like that.
- 1:52:09And um yeah, thank you for watching.
- 1:52:11[music] In the next video, we'll go over
- 1:52:12the day-to-day running of an Etsy shop
- 1:52:14and everything you need to know on that
- 1:52:15front. And yeah, catch you in the next
- 1:52:18one. Print on demand is basically as
- 1:52:19close as you can get to passive income.
- 1:52:22However, it would be a lie to say that
- 1:52:24it is completely passive. There are some
- 1:52:26day-to-day things that you should do
- 1:52:27when running and owning an Etsy shop,
- 1:52:29and we're going to go through them in
- 1:52:30today's video. Cuz there's some things
- 1:52:32that you should be aware of. For
- 1:52:33example, Etsy advertising. Is that worth
- 1:52:35it? Should you run sales and discounts?
- 1:52:38How do you respond to customer messages?
- 1:52:40How do you achieve Etsy star seller?
- 1:52:41There's quite a lot to think about when
- 1:52:43it comes to running an Etsy shop. And
- 1:52:44there's a lot of things that you can do
- 1:52:46to really maximize your sales. So, we're
- 1:52:48going to go through all of that today.
- 1:52:49And first of all, we are going to talk
- 1:52:51about Etsy ads cuz I think they are a
- 1:52:53very big benefit of selling on Etsy.
- 1:52:55However, it's not often clear whether
- 1:52:57they're a good idea, what kind of budget
- 1:52:59you should set, and things like that.
- 1:53:00I'm always a very big advocate for Etsy
- 1:53:02because it does make advertising so so
- 1:53:04simple. All you literally need to do is
- 1:53:06click a button, agree to give Etsy a
- 1:53:08certain amount of money every day, and
- 1:53:10then they will start to promote your
- 1:53:11products. This is a completely different
- 1:53:13kettle of fish from advertising on
- 1:53:15Shopify, for example, where you would
- 1:53:16need to set up meta adverts and things
- 1:53:18like that. So, Etsy advertising is very
- 1:53:20easy, but should you do it, and is it
- 1:53:22worth it? And how does it kind of work?
- 1:53:24First of all, whether you should turn on
- 1:53:26Etsy ads kind of depends how riskprone
- 1:53:28you are, how much money you have to
- 1:53:30throw at selling on Etsy because it is
- 1:53:32really personal preference. We've
- 1:53:33actually seen a lot of people succeed in
- 1:53:35our school without advertising and have
- 1:53:37seen organic sales. What you really need
- 1:53:39to be aware of is your return on
- 1:53:41advertising spend. Bear in mind the
- 1:53:43profit margins from print on demand
- 1:53:44through posters is often about 50%. Not
- 1:53:47for every size, but that's kind of what
- 1:53:49it averages out to. So really, your
- 1:53:51return on advertising spend needs to be
- 1:53:53over two for Etsy ads to be worth it. So
- 1:53:56for example, on one of my shops, I have
- 1:53:57a return on advertising spend of $2.77.
- 1:54:01That means I have spent $900 this year.
- 1:54:04That has got me a revenue of $2,500.
- 1:54:07Now, that means that basically I've
- 1:54:09profited $1,200 from spending $900 on
- 1:54:12ads. So, these ads have brought me an
- 1:54:14extra $300 to $400 that I otherwise
- 1:54:16would not have. Now, that makes sense
- 1:54:18and you know, the math checks out on
- 1:54:20that, but you might often find that your
- 1:54:21return on advertising spend could be
- 1:54:23lower than two, in which case it
- 1:54:24probably would not be worth spending on
- 1:54:26Etsy ads because you are technically
- 1:54:28losing money. However, not to further
- 1:54:30complicate, but there are other things
- 1:54:32to bear in mind. For example, these
- 1:54:34statistics here only track when people
- 1:54:36directly buy after coming from an
- 1:54:37advert. I don't think these stats tell
- 1:54:40the whole picture because I'm pretty
- 1:54:41sure a lot of buyers will come across an
- 1:54:43advertised item, will favorite it and
- 1:54:45save it for later, then come back and
- 1:54:47purchase, which is then not tracked as a
- 1:54:49purchase from an advert. So, I think it
- 1:54:51doesn't tell the whole story. I think
- 1:54:53ads do lead to other sales more longer
- 1:54:55term from return customers, but that's
- 1:54:58hard to track. And you know, there's no
- 1:55:00numbers or stats to look at for that. So
- 1:55:02that is something to bear in mind. So
- 1:55:03for example, on one of my shops, I spend
- 1:55:05$10 a day on ads. This is about $300 a
- 1:55:08month, which is about £220.
- 1:55:11And this shop generates me £1,500
- 1:55:13take-home profit most months. So I am
- 1:55:16more than happy spending that £220 to
- 1:55:18get to that £1,500 point. Who knows,
- 1:55:21maybe without adverts, I would be at a
- 1:55:23similar level of sales. I'm not sure.
- 1:55:24However, I like the money that this shop
- 1:55:26is bringing me, so I'm not going to mess
- 1:55:28with that. So, it's okay to experiment
- 1:55:30with advertising and whether it works.
- 1:55:32What I would advise is do not rush into
- 1:55:34starting to advertise when you first
- 1:55:35start your Etsy shop. I would make sure
- 1:55:37you have at least two to 300 listings
- 1:55:39before you look at advertising because
- 1:55:41again, Etsy is a bit of a numbers game.
- 1:55:43So, the faster you can upload as many
- 1:55:45products as possible, the more results
- 1:55:46you will see. It's around the 3 to 500
- 1:55:49listing mark where you will start to see
- 1:55:51sales pick [music] up. And then you can
- 1:55:52experiment with adverts and see how much
- 1:55:54of a difference that makes. $10 a day
- 1:55:56has always been a good number for me.
- 1:55:58This will depend on your budget though
- 1:56:00and your risk tolerance. There is
- 1:56:01definitely validity to just pumping out
- 1:56:03adverts and going for $100 a day for
- 1:56:06example. This is obviously if you are
- 1:56:07more risk prone and for most of you I
- 1:56:09assume that is not something you'd
- 1:56:10consider which is absolutely fine and
- 1:56:12there's no pressure to at all. Basically
- 1:56:14I do think Etsy ads do work and I think
- 1:56:16they are a valid strategy. I would just
- 1:56:17keep an eye on the stats you get from
- 1:56:19them. And also bear in mind that it's
- 1:56:21good practice to give adverts a good
- 1:56:23amount of time to get going before you
- 1:56:25judge their results. You need to give it
- 1:56:27a good few months for Etsy to kind of
- 1:56:29learn how to advertise your products for
- 1:56:31it to rank into the algorithm and things
- 1:56:32like that. You might find if you turn
- 1:56:34off your ads too quickly, you will lose
- 1:56:36a lot of progress that you have just
- 1:56:38built up. So that's something to bear in
- 1:56:40mind. Also, Etsy have recently made some
- 1:56:42changes. They used to allow you to pick
- 1:56:43a advertising goal where it would either
- 1:56:46prioritize showing off as many as your
- 1:56:48products as possible or it would
- 1:56:49prioritize being more selective and only
- 1:56:51showing the products that it thinks has
- 1:56:52a chance of selling. This has now
- 1:56:54changed and you now cannot change your
- 1:56:56advertising strategy until you advertise
- 1:56:59$25 a day. Etsy's current uh party line
- 1:57:02and what they say is that below $25 a
- 1:57:04day, how they operate right now is they
- 1:57:06optimize for efficient spending and aim
- 1:57:08to get your items in front of buyers
- 1:57:09most likely to purchase. However, with a
- 1:57:12higher budget of $25 and above, you can
- 1:57:15customize your strategy with two other
- 1:57:17options. And these are optimizing for
- 1:57:19greater visibility where it just gets
- 1:57:21your items in front of buyers more
- 1:57:22often, but at a higher cost per click,
- 1:57:24or they're optimized for a lower cost
- 1:57:26click, where you pay less each time a
- 1:57:28potential buyer clicks, but your ads
- 1:57:29will be shown less often. So, that might
- 1:57:32be worth something to consider.
- 1:57:33Especially if you're at a point where
- 1:57:34your shop is running well, then you
- 1:57:36might want to have a little play around
- 1:57:37with different strategies to see what
- 1:57:39kind of difference it makes. But I must
- 1:57:41admit, we do have a lot of members in
- 1:57:42our school community that have said they
- 1:57:44do not advertise and that they are
- 1:57:45getting a good amount of consistent
- 1:57:47sales. So there's no pressure to go for
- 1:57:50Etsy ads. I think it's worth a play
- 1:57:51around once you've uploaded enough
- 1:57:53products, but it's not an essential,
- 1:57:55especially if you're a bit money
- 1:57:56conscious at the start and want to keep
- 1:57:58cost down. I would I would argue that
- 1:58:00you are better off investing the money
- 1:58:02that you could spend on ads to our
- 1:58:03software because the ability to pump out
- 1:58:06as many listings as you can is far far
- 1:58:08more valuable than promoting those
- 1:58:10products because Etsy is a numbers game
- 1:58:12and the more products you have uploaded
- 1:58:14the more chances of those being seen you
- 1:58:16will have anyway cuz Etsy kind of
- 1:58:17operates on an 80/20 rule which is often
- 1:58:19very true for e-commerce in general. And
- 1:58:22what this means is that 80% of your
- 1:58:24sales will come from 20% of your
- 1:58:26products. That might sound
- 1:58:27counterintuitive, but that's often the
- 1:58:29case. I have 3,000 listings on my travel
- 1:58:31shop. I'm sure I've only sold 500 of
- 1:58:34them individually. But without those
- 1:58:373,000 there to attract buyers to my
- 1:58:39shop, that 20% that does the more
- 1:58:41regular sales would not have had the
- 1:58:43same chance to be discovered. So, it
- 1:58:44really really is a numbers game. You can
- 1:58:46see it from my free shops. The order of
- 1:58:49success of my shops. My number one is my
- 1:58:51travel print shop with 3,300 listings.
- 1:58:53That's had 3,200 sales. My second most
- 1:58:56successful shop has got 1,600 listings,
- 1:58:59which has had 1,700 sales. And my third
- 1:59:01most successful only has 900 listings,
- 1:59:04and that's had 1,100 sales. If anything,
- 1:59:07to almost a weird degree, the amount of
- 1:59:09sales I've had directly correlates to
- 1:59:11the amount of listings I have on that
- 1:59:13shop. Really, you should prioritize your
- 1:59:14money going towards stuff that will
- 1:59:16allow you to upload as many posters as
- 1:59:17you possibly can to Etsy. And our
- 1:59:20software, just saying, is a great way of
- 1:59:22doing that. So, do consider that. maybe
- 1:59:23instead of Etsy ads. I will say as well,
- 1:59:26Etsy is actually a very good platform
- 1:59:27for kind of like snowball effects. You
- 1:59:29will find that if you see your products
- 1:59:31start to do well, it's very good at
- 1:59:33continuously promoting these products
- 1:59:34and putting them in front of buyers.
- 1:59:36Etsy wants customers to convert just as
- 1:59:38much as you do. So, if it's noticing
- 1:59:40that you are starting to get a winning
- 1:59:42product, it really will start promoting
- 1:59:44that. And advertising can be a great way
- 1:59:46of like starting off that chain reaction
- 1:59:48and getting those products in front of
- 1:59:50customers. And then you'll find that
- 1:59:51after a while, you might not need the
- 1:59:53adverts to keep pushing these products
- 1:59:55because they will organically rank high
- 1:59:57and be on the first page or two of Etsy
- 1:59:59search results anyway. Because yeah,
- 2:00:00this is another thing. I've said it
- 2:00:02before, I say it again. You do need to
- 2:00:03have patience on Etsy, whether it be
- 2:00:05with ads or without ads. It takes a good
- 2:00:07few months for your products to find
- 2:00:09their place within the algorithm. It
- 2:00:11will take time for them to rank. So, do
- 2:00:13have patience. Don't worry if you don't
- 2:00:14see results straight away, especially
- 2:00:16within the first two to 3 months. If
- 2:00:18maybe after six to seven months you've
- 2:00:19uploaded quite a lot of posters but
- 2:00:21aren't getting consistent sales, that's
- 2:00:22when maybe you should look at what you
- 2:00:24are uploading because maybe your posters
- 2:00:26aren't good enough. Once again, if
- 2:00:27you're ever unsure about what you are
- 2:00:29creating and what you are listing, come
- 2:00:31to our school community. Great place to
- 2:00:33show off the products you've created.
- 2:00:34Get feedback. I will be brutal. I do not
- 2:00:37hold back in there. Like, we want you
- 2:00:38guys to succeed as much as possible. So,
- 2:00:40if I think you're selling crap, I will
- 2:00:41tell you that. So, it's a great place to
- 2:00:43get feedback. I'm not that harsh. I'm
- 2:00:45nice about it. Don't worry. I'm just
- 2:00:46saying. uh yeah they like give give your
- 2:00:49shop time to warm up but if it has been
- 2:00:51six to seven months and you're not
- 2:00:52seeing results that's a bit of a red
- 2:00:53flag and then you should really uh have
- 2:00:55a think about what you are selling. So
- 2:00:57also within the marketing tab as you can
- 2:00:59see there is a opportunity to run some
- 2:01:01sales and discounts and I think these
- 2:01:02are a great way to encourage purchases
- 2:01:04and definitely worth turning on. So let
- 2:01:06me go through what I have on my shop and
- 2:01:08I'll show you some statistics for that.
- 2:01:09So, basically, Etsy recommends uh a few
- 2:01:12different sales that you can run/ a few
- 2:01:13different discount codes that you can
- 2:01:14have active. And I would uh encourage
- 2:01:16you to make all of these active. So, for
- 2:01:18example, you can set it up so anyone who
- 2:01:21has left an item of yours in their
- 2:01:22basket and not checked out will receive
- 2:01:24an email with a set percentage discount.
- 2:01:27I do 10% on my shots, just a nice sort
- 2:01:29of 10% off just to encourage purchase.
- 2:01:31You could stretch this to 20 though.
- 2:01:33Definitely validity in that. It's up to
- 2:01:35you depending on how much you want to
- 2:01:36offer off. But yeah, definitely worth
- 2:01:38turning on the abandoned basket
- 2:01:40discount. A thank you offer as well.
- 2:01:41Anyone who buys from your shop will then
- 2:01:43receive an email with a future discount
- 2:01:45for a future order. That might be worth
- 2:01:47doing higher than 10%. You can maybe set
- 2:01:49that at 20 or even 30% to encourage
- 2:01:51repeat purchases cuz you do get a decent
- 2:01:54amount of repeat customers. Actually
- 2:01:55flags them whenever they do. They'll
- 2:01:56have a little star next to them. And
- 2:01:58yeah, it's it's worth offering that just
- 2:02:00just to really encourage them to come
- 2:02:02back. And then also a favored item
- 2:02:04offer. So, a lot of buyers on Etsy will
- 2:02:06obviously run through Etsy and hit
- 2:02:08favorite to add to their list and come
- 2:02:10back to if you're then prompting them
- 2:02:11with a follow-up email for a further 10%
- 2:02:13off. That can really help conversion.
- 2:02:15So, I would say it's definitely worth uh
- 2:02:17turning all of these things on. You
- 2:02:19might as well. It's better to lose 10%
- 2:02:21revenue and get a sale that you
- 2:02:23otherwise wouldn't have then not get a
- 2:02:24sale at all. So, yeah, they're worth
- 2:02:26turning on for all. I would say another
- 2:02:28good thing you can do is run a sale. I
- 2:02:31like to offer a buy free items get 20%
- 2:02:35off sale on my shop. Our profit margins
- 2:02:37from our recommended pricing has enough
- 2:02:39wiggle room for you to lose 20% of the
- 2:02:41profit. You could even do 10 or 15% if
- 2:02:43you didn't want to go all the way up to
- 2:02:4520, but it's a great way of encouraging
- 2:02:47higher value orders. As we mentioned
- 2:02:49earlier with the bundles, uh it's just a
- 2:02:51great way of getting high ticket sales.
- 2:02:52It does help people convert. Like 20%
- 2:02:55can be a decent discount especially for
- 2:02:57people buying frames and stuff. So yeah,
- 2:02:58that's definitely worth looking at. you
- 2:03:00will still have a good profit margin per
- 2:03:02item. It's just encourages bigger
- 2:03:03orders. So, it's definitely something
- 2:03:05worth thinking about and something I
- 2:03:06would recommend turning on. Also, bear
- 2:03:07in mind it can be good to run a general
- 2:03:09sale across all your items on certain
- 2:03:11days like Cyber Monday or Black Friday.
- 2:03:13It might be worth adding to your
- 2:03:15calendar and just being aware of cuz
- 2:03:16it's very easy thing to implement. You
- 2:03:18just click a button. So, yeah, that's
- 2:03:19something worth thinking about as well
- 2:03:21as a lot of other sellers will be doing
- 2:03:23that. So, it helps you kind of stay in
- 2:03:24the same level and compete with them.
- 2:03:26All right, so the main things you need
- 2:03:28to deal with on a day-to-day basis is
- 2:03:30obviously sending your orders and also
- 2:03:32adding tracking and responding to
- 2:03:34customer messages. So, we make sending
- 2:03:36orders incredibly easy over here at
- 2:03:37Printri. I did do a little overview
- 2:03:39earlier, but I'll show you now how
- 2:03:41simple it is. We do have full Etsy
- 2:03:43integration, which means that all you
- 2:03:44need to do every day is log onto
- 2:03:46Printri, click a button, and all your
- 2:03:48orders will import over, ready to be
- 2:03:50sent to your customers. So, as you can
- 2:03:52see here, literally click import orders
- 2:03:54and taa, they will all load in. So, some
- 2:03:57of these I will have my images uploaded
- 2:03:59to Printroom. And as you can see, they
- 2:04:00load in automatically. Some I haven't
- 2:04:02actually uploaded yet, so I need to
- 2:04:03quickly do that. But if you be ahead of
- 2:04:05time bulk upload all of your products to
- 2:04:08uh Printroom, then it will automatically
- 2:04:10port over all of your posters.
- 2:04:11Sometimes, as we said before, you will
- 2:04:13have to redesign to a different aspect
- 2:04:15ratio. So you might have to quickly go
- 2:04:16and do that on Photoshop or Canva or
- 2:04:18wherever you want to do it on and then
- 2:04:20just upload it to Printim. Very quick
- 2:04:22and easy though. And yeah, that that's
- 2:04:24basically it. You then pay for your
- 2:04:25orders and we will dispatch them to your
- 2:04:26customers as posters as quick as
- 2:04:28possible. Then just come into Etsy. You
- 2:04:30can select all at once if you like or
- 2:04:32you can do it individually and just mark
- 2:04:34as complete. We have different
- 2:04:36production times for different
- 2:04:37countries. Sometimes it takes one, two,
- 2:04:39three days for the poster to actually be
- 2:04:41printed and shipped out. But I recommend
- 2:04:43just marking your orders as complete on
- 2:04:45Etsy as soon as you've sent them over to
- 2:04:47Print because you can add your tracking
- 2:04:49in retroactively afterwards. And it
- 2:04:50doesn't matter if your tracking is added
- 2:04:52a few days after the order is marked as
- 2:04:54complete. Etsy only cares that the
- 2:04:56tracking is in transit once it is added
- 2:04:58and it will be with Printrimp because we
- 2:05:00only send you over the tracking when
- 2:05:01it's actually been shipped out. So yeah,
- 2:05:03as I said, we do have different
- 2:05:04production times for different
- 2:05:05countries. So, I would recommend coming
- 2:05:07to print.com/pricing.
- 2:05:09Here you can see all of the sizes offer
- 2:05:10in all of the countries we have domestic
- 2:05:12print locations and you can see when you
- 2:05:15can expect your tracking to be available
- 2:05:17after placing your order cuz there's
- 2:05:18things you need to account for such as
- 2:05:20Saturday and Sunday not being working
- 2:05:21days and different production times. I
- 2:05:24will say we say for the UK it's 0 to one
- 2:05:26days. 90% of our UK orders dispatch the
- 2:05:29same day. In America we say one to two
- 2:05:32days. Most of our orders are actually
- 2:05:34currently dispatching same day and EU
- 2:05:36can take 1 to 3 days but again about 50
- 2:05:39to 60% go out within the same or next
- 2:05:41day but we just have to cover oursel by
- 2:05:43allowing for the longest possible time
- 2:05:45that it could take. Yeah, we prioritize
- 2:05:48rapid dispatch. We are pretty quick and
- 2:05:50we will make sure that your buyers
- 2:05:51receive their items within their
- 2:05:53expected time frames to the best of our
- 2:05:54abilities. Sometimes couriers can mess
- 2:05:57up on their end but again come to us
- 2:05:59with the issue. We will sort it for you.
- 2:06:01We are literally only here to help you
- 2:06:03guys. So, as much as couriers can
- 2:06:04sometimes be a bit annoying every now
- 2:06:06and then, we will help you out and it
- 2:06:07will get sorted. So, your tracking will
- 2:06:09be automatically added to your Etsy
- 2:06:11order as soon as it comes through on
- 2:06:12Print Triumph as well, which is really
- 2:06:13handy. It means you don't have to wait
- 2:06:15around and add it in manually. So, yeah,
- 2:06:17as soon as your tracking has come
- 2:06:18through, it will be added into your Etsy
- 2:06:20account. This means it's added as soon
- 2:06:21as possible and allows you to stick to
- 2:06:23that ontime dispatch and things like
- 2:06:25that and don't and nothing gets missed.
- 2:06:27So, that's very, very handy. And yeah,
- 2:06:28with completing orders, so we recommend
- 2:06:30doing this as soon as you have sent your
- 2:06:32order over to Printri. This is a good
- 2:06:34place where you can add a little note to
- 2:06:35your buyer. You can just say something
- 2:06:37as simple as, for example, mine says,
- 2:06:39"Thanks very much for your order. Your
- 2:06:40poster has been sent. If your tracking
- 2:06:42isn't already available, it will be
- 2:06:43added in as soon as we have it. Please
- 2:06:45feel free to get in touch with me if you
- 2:06:47have any questions." smiley face. Just a
- 2:06:49nice way of saying a little message to
- 2:06:51your buyer. You can customize that and
- 2:06:52write it whatever you want to in there.
- 2:06:54So yeah, basically your daily workflow
- 2:06:56is as easy as that is log on to Etsy,
- 2:06:58click a button with imprint shrimp, pay
- 2:07:00for your orders to be sent. So yeah, not
- 2:07:02a thousand% passive, but you can have
- 2:07:04your daily workflow taking 10 minutes a
- 2:07:07day in terms of actually running the
- 2:07:08shop, which is amazing for the money
- 2:07:10that it can be. And again, as long as
- 2:07:11we've set our work schedule to not
- 2:07:13include Saturday and Sunday, then this
- 2:07:15is accounted for in the dispatching of
- 2:07:17orders and in the adding tracking. The
- 2:07:18only other day-to-day thing you'll have
- 2:07:20to deal with is responding to customers
- 2:07:22messages. A lot of these will be
- 2:07:23self-explanatory. I'm sure you guys are
- 2:07:25capable enough to figure out how to
- 2:07:26respond to your customers. The two types
- 2:07:28of messages you will get is questions
- 2:07:30about the item, which should be very
- 2:07:31easy to answer, or issues that have
- 2:07:33occurred during delivery. This could be
- 2:07:35courier damage. This could be the order
- 2:07:37being late. And once again, [music]
- 2:07:38we've got your back. All you need to do
- 2:07:40is come over to Printroom, go to paid
- 2:07:42orders, click report a problem, make
- 2:07:44sure you get images of damage from the
- 2:07:46customer, and then send that over to us.
- 2:07:48We will resend and rehip your item as
- 2:07:50soon as possible, free of charge. We're
- 2:07:52[music] here to help you. We've got your
- 2:07:54back. If you ever get any questions from
- 2:07:56customers that you're not sure how to
- 2:07:57answer, you can either drop us an email
- 2:07:59at hey printroom.com and we will help
- 2:08:01you out, or it's a great opportunity to
- 2:08:03come into our school community and ask
- 2:08:05our community there. It is a website/
- 2:08:08community filled with people selling
- 2:08:10posters, people that are learning just
- 2:08:12like you. It's very active. It's a very
- 2:08:14friendly place. You can really learn
- 2:08:15from others. And also these videos that
- 2:08:17you're watching now and loads of others
- 2:08:18that we have are all in there for free
- 2:08:20as well. So definitely check that out
- 2:08:22and don't be don't be afraid to ask
- 2:08:23questions. It's a great place to
- 2:08:24interact with others and uh get
- 2:08:26involved. We have awesome customer
- 2:08:28service at Printroom. It is one of our
- 2:08:29biggest selling points and something
- 2:08:30that we are very very proud about. You
- 2:08:32know, you'll be talking to me most of
- 2:08:33the time and we can actually build up a
- 2:08:35relationship, talk to each other human
- 2:08:37to human. We don't have any of this AI
- 2:08:39customer service BS. It's all human.
- 2:08:42It's it's yeah, it's it's it's lovely.
- 2:08:44It's like my favorite part of our
- 2:08:45business that we've kept that humanity
- 2:08:47side and that kind of thing. So, you'll
- 2:08:49be chatting to me. We'll be helping you
- 2:08:51out with any issues that do arise and
- 2:08:52also any questions you have about
- 2:08:54getting started. We want you guys to
- 2:08:56succeed as much as possible. One other
- 2:08:58thing you should aim for on Etsy is to
- 2:09:00become a star seller. This is achieved
- 2:09:02by meeting four criteria that Etsy set.
- 2:09:04You are reviewed on a monthly basis and
- 2:09:06if you succeed, you will then be a star
- 2:09:08seller for the next month. As long as
- 2:09:10and then as long as you keep hitting
- 2:09:11those targets, you will remain a star
- 2:09:13seller. What this basically means is
- 2:09:14that Etsy really trusts you to provide
- 2:09:16the best possible service. It will then
- 2:09:18promote your products a bit more. It
- 2:09:19just gives you that extra boost and that
- 2:09:21extra edge. So, that is something you
- 2:09:22should definitely be striving for and
- 2:09:24it's something that is definitely doable
- 2:09:25through using Printri. As long as you
- 2:09:26are on top of your Etsy shop and really
- 2:09:29going the extra mile. I'm actually
- 2:09:30currently not a star seller, so I'm not
- 2:09:32a great example here, but I'm very busy
- 2:09:34running Print Shrimp. So, I don't often
- 2:09:36spend much time on my Etsy shops, but
- 2:09:38they still get me three grand a month
- 2:09:39for passive income, which is pretty
- 2:09:40cool. So, it goes to show that they can
- 2:09:41really, really work. So the criteria
- 2:09:44that you need to be attaining to and
- 2:09:46what you need to bear in mind is uh four
- 2:09:48things. So number one is message
- 2:09:50response rate. So you need to respond
- 2:09:51within 24 hours of a customer asking you
- 2:09:54a question. Etsy also has their service
- 2:09:56standard and basically these are lower
- 2:09:58benchmarks that you actually have to be
- 2:10:00hitting to remain a seller on the
- 2:10:01platform. And if you consistently fall
- 2:10:03below these, they will give you warnings
- 2:10:05and can eventually ban your account. So
- 2:10:07we should be striving for the star
- 2:10:08seller, but you need to at the bare
- 2:10:09minimum hit the service standards cuz
- 2:10:11otherwise you're in trouble. So yeah,
- 2:10:12message response rate. Just make sure
- 2:10:14for Stareller, reply to 95% of messages
- 2:10:16within 24 hours. Now, there is one life
- 2:10:19hack that you can do to help with this
- 2:10:21that is an absolute game changer. And I
- 2:10:22didn't realize was a thing for ages. And
- 2:10:24then when I discovered it, I was like,
- 2:10:25"Oh my god." This is a autoresponder for
- 2:10:28customer messages. And you can turn this
- 2:10:29on. And basically what it will do is if
- 2:10:31a customer messages you outside of your
- 2:10:33working hours, you have to set 8 hours a
- 2:10:35day. So you could do 9 to5 or whatever
- 2:10:37works for you. If they message you
- 2:10:38outside of these hours, Etsy will
- 2:10:40respond with an automated message
- 2:10:42saying, "Hey, I'm not working right now,
- 2:10:43but I will get back to you soon." And
- 2:10:45this response will actually count as a
- 2:10:47response of yours within 24 hours. So,
- 2:10:49it's a bit of a cheat code really. And
- 2:10:50it ensures that basically, unless you
- 2:10:53get a message between the hours of 9
- 2:10:54to5, whatever you set on your schedule,
- 2:10:56and then forget to reply for 24 hours,
- 2:10:57you will basically always hit this
- 2:10:59message target, which is awesome. So,
- 2:11:00all you need to do is come to messages,
- 2:11:02click up here for auto reply, and then
- 2:11:05as settings will pop up here. So, as you
- 2:11:06can see, mine is just a default Etsy
- 2:11:08message that says, "Thank you for
- 2:11:09reaching out. You've reached me outside
- 2:11:10my normal hours, but I'll try to respond
- 2:11:12as soon as I'm back." So, yeah, just
- 2:11:14turn on your weekly auto reply, set your
- 2:11:16working days. I do Monday to Friday,
- 2:11:18which I assume most of you will like to
- 2:11:19do as well. I think you need to do a
- 2:11:20minimum of 5 days a week and then a
- 2:11:22minimum of 8 hours a day. I set my
- 2:11:24processing time just as 9 to5 as
- 2:11:26standard. that will then yeah send out
- 2:11:28an automated message whenever someone
- 2:11:30responds outside of these hours which
- 2:11:32helps you get your customer service
- 2:11:34stats up and goes towards star seller.
- 2:11:36So that's awesome. On time dispatch and
- 2:11:38tracking uh as well. You can see here
- 2:11:39I'm on 97%. So this is proof in the
- 2:11:42pudding that it does not matter if you
- 2:11:43add your tracking a few days after
- 2:11:44dispatching your order because that's
- 2:11:46what I do in my shop and I'm at 97% for
- 2:11:48the past 30 days. So, as long as as soon
- 2:11:51as your tracking is available from
- 2:11:52Printrim, it gets added to your orders,
- 2:11:54you'll be on track for this and should
- 2:11:55be hitting star seller standard. And
- 2:11:57average review rating, you should aim
- 2:11:59for 4.8 or higher. This will normally
- 2:12:02happen with Printrim. It's very rare to
- 2:12:03get negative reviews. If you do get
- 2:12:05negative reviews, it's often people
- 2:12:07complaining about something out of your
- 2:12:08hands or out of Printrim's hands. It's
- 2:12:10often the courier's fault, such as Royal
- 2:12:12Mail. What you can do is actually report
- 2:12:14these reviews to Etsy because it's
- 2:12:16something out of your control. Etsy
- 2:12:18doesn't like people leaving bad reviews
- 2:12:19for that. So, you can actually get these
- 2:12:21reviews removed. So, that's something
- 2:12:22important to bear in mind. You will
- 2:12:24occasionally get an unhappy customer
- 2:12:26with the quality of their print. You
- 2:12:28know, it's customer service. It happens
- 2:12:30every now and then. We can we'll always
- 2:12:32[music] even try and resend just to
- 2:12:34satisfy them and change something if we
- 2:12:37can, but sometimes you just do get an
- 2:12:39unlucky customer. But I implore you to
- 2:12:40even go look at my shop reviews. Like,
- 2:12:42well packaged, excellent quality print,
- 2:12:44would buy from again. Yeah, we we print
- 2:12:46really good posters worldwide. So, your
- 2:12:48customers will be satisfied. I'll be
- 2:12:50very very surprised if you fall below
- 2:12:524.8 star rating. Then the only other
- 2:12:54thing is the case rates. And yeah, you
- 2:12:56you should try and keep this down. Uh it
- 2:12:58will naturally be low. It's very rare
- 2:13:00for the need for a case to arrive, but
- 2:13:02this links back to the Etsy seller
- 2:13:04protection that I said before. This
- 2:13:05often just applies if a customer has
- 2:13:07provided you the wrong address, then you
- 2:13:08can ask them to open a case. If a order
- 2:13:11issue out of your control has arisen,
- 2:13:12basically say like an order's been
- 2:13:13marked as delivered, but the customer's
- 2:13:15adamant they haven't received it, then I
- 2:13:16would recommend you ask the customer to
- 2:13:18open a case because it's very rare that
- 2:13:20this will happen more than like once or
- 2:13:22twice a month. So, it's very it would be
- 2:13:24very very unlucky for you to go over the
- 2:13:27star seller limit here because cases are
- 2:13:29pretty rare and you do want to be able
- 2:13:31to benefit from Etsy seller protection.
- 2:13:32So, maybe keep an eye on it. If you've
- 2:13:34if you know you've had a few cases in a
- 2:13:36month, then this is how you can be
- 2:13:37hitting star seller. It's definitely
- 2:13:39something you should strive for, but I
- 2:13:40think you'll normally find if you're on
- 2:13:42top of your Etsy shop, if you're logging
- 2:13:43in every day, if you're good at
- 2:13:44responding to customers and sending
- 2:13:46orders on time, then I think you'll
- 2:13:47naturally hit it anyway. But it does
- 2:13:49give you that extra boost in the
- 2:13:51algorithm and does push your shop that
- 2:13:52little bit further than the rest. So,
- 2:13:54it's definitely worth uh trying to
- 2:13:55strive for this. Another thing you
- 2:13:57should aim to be doing is just be
- 2:13:58regularly uploading products. Etsy loves
- 2:14:01active sellers. Etsy wants people
- 2:14:02selling on their platform who are
- 2:14:04consistently providing new products to
- 2:14:06their market. So, the more often you can
- 2:14:08be uploading, the better. Once again, I
- 2:14:10won't plug it too hard, but we do have
- 2:14:12amazing software for this that automates
- 2:14:14the uploading of products and can take
- 2:14:15your workflow from being 5 minutes per
- 2:14:17product to 100 products uploaded in 5
- 2:14:20minutes. It makes a huge huge difference
- 2:14:22and it really allows you to get that
- 2:14:24volume up. That is so so important on
- 2:14:25Etsy. So, it's not like you need to
- 2:14:27upload a new product every day. Don't
- 2:14:28worry about that. But, you know, if you
- 2:14:30can on a weekly basis be uploading new
- 2:14:32posters, then that's amazing. As I said,
- 2:14:34it's a numbers game on Etsy. The more
- 2:14:35you can get up, the better. So, keep
- 2:14:37uploading, stay active. Etsy likes that
- 2:14:40and you will be rewarded for it. A
- 2:14:41question we get asked a lot of the time
- 2:14:43because a lot of people will set up one
- 2:14:44successful shop and be hungry for more
- 2:14:46is, can I set up another shop? And yes,
- 2:14:49you can. Now, we do recommend this
- 2:14:51longer term. I will say I would much
- 2:14:53prefer you guys focus on one shop, get
- 2:14:55it to a good point, upload a lot of
- 2:14:57listings, and really have the concept
- 2:14:59nailed in and be at a point of getting
- 2:15:01regular consistent sales before you look
- 2:15:02at opening another one. But once you are
- 2:15:04at that point, then yes, you can
- 2:15:06actually have as many shops as you
- 2:15:07wanted in your name. It can be with the
- 2:15:09same identity. It can be with the same
- 2:15:11bank account. It's very easy to set up
- 2:15:13multiple. Just uh ensure they're
- 2:15:15different niches basically. And that's
- 2:15:16as we said on the first video, it's good
- 2:15:18to kind of have a set niche for a shop.
- 2:15:21So I would definitely recommend building
- 2:15:23up your first shop first and getting
- 2:15:24that to a level of consistent sales.
- 2:15:26However, now with our automated Etsy
- 2:15:28listing software, it has never been
- 2:15:30easier to create a shop and to list
- 2:15:32products quickly to Etsy. For example,
- 2:15:34in the meantime, when you're building up
- 2:15:35your first shop, you can start looking
- 2:15:37at creating products for your second
- 2:15:38store. And now, with our software, you
- 2:15:41can basically instantly upload all of
- 2:15:42these products you've created as soon as
- 2:15:44you start an Etsy shop. It's kind of
- 2:15:45insane and a little bit scary what this
- 2:15:48software unlocks and the power it has.
- 2:15:50For example, it took me about 6 months
- 2:15:52of 3 or 4 hours a day to build up my
- 2:15:54free Etsy shops of consistent graft just
- 2:15:56sitting there uploading to Etsy. I think
- 2:15:59I watched the whole of Game of Thrones.
- 2:16:00I watched the whole of Good Girls. Uh I
- 2:16:02watched a lot of series in the
- 2:16:04background as I was just sat there copy
- 2:16:06and pasting listings to upload my 6,000
- 2:16:08posters to Etsy. What's insane is that
- 2:16:11now with our new software, that would
- 2:16:12have taken me an hour, minutes. It's
- 2:16:15it's honestly insane. So yeah, just
- 2:16:17something to bear in mind. But yeah, I
- 2:16:18do recommend multiple shops. I think you
- 2:16:20might as well, like I said, get your
- 2:16:22grips with one, but I have three for a
- 2:16:24reason. I have one that is focusing on
- 2:16:26travel prints. I have another that is
- 2:16:27focusing on general art prints. And I
- 2:16:29have another that is focusing on food
- 2:16:31posters and uh dogs and cats, which is a
- 2:16:33bit random, but it yeah, it it works.
- 2:16:36But yes, it definitely makes sense to
- 2:16:38have one niche for one shop just in
- 2:16:40terms of the customer journey, as I
- 2:16:41mentioned earlier. And also the Etsy
- 2:16:43algorithm is much better at ranking your
- 2:16:45products if it knows that they're in one
- 2:16:47kind of niche. Also, it helps with the
- 2:16:49branding and things like that. So, yes,
- 2:16:51definitely do look at expanding to other
- 2:16:53Etsy shops. And that brings me on to the
- 2:16:55next section, which is advertising
- 2:16:56outside of Etsy and also moving past
- 2:16:58Etsy and expanding onwards because yes,
- 2:17:01we recommend Etsy as a starting
- 2:17:02platform, but there are so many other
- 2:17:05options that you guys have as to
- 2:17:06marketplaces where you can sell posters.
- 2:17:09Shopify and eBay are the big ones that
- 2:17:11come to mind, but there's also options
- 2:17:12such as Amazon, lots of other platforms.
- 2:17:15We do recommend Etsy at the start just
- 2:17:17because of how easy it is and it's it's
- 2:17:19the perfect introduction to e-commerce,
- 2:17:21but we will have lots of videos coming
- 2:17:23soon about how you can move over to
- 2:17:24Shopify to create your own websites and
- 2:17:27to also list on platforms like eBay. So,
- 2:17:29focus for now on building up your Etsy
- 2:17:31shop and then potentially looking at
- 2:17:33starting some other Etsy shops. But when
- 2:17:35you're at a point of regular sales, we
- 2:17:36will have other videos ready talking
- 2:17:38through how you can set up Shopify
- 2:17:40websites and things like that. Also, I'm
- 2:17:42sure a lot of your minds go to, should I
- 2:17:44advertise outside of Etsy? [music] I
- 2:17:46would say this is definitely something
- 2:17:47worth exploring, but again, at the
- 2:17:49start, spend your time creating products
- 2:17:51and uploading as many as you can to your
- 2:17:53Etsy shop. It is a numbers game. You
- 2:17:56really should be aiming for 500 to a,000
- 2:17:58plus here to see consistent results. But
- 2:18:01social media advertising definitely can
- 2:18:02work. There is no harm in creating a Tik
- 2:18:04Tok account. For example, Tik Tok
- 2:18:06slideshows can work quite well. So don't
- 2:18:08feel like that's something you can't
- 2:18:09explore. I would just say at the start,
- 2:18:11spend your time creating and uploading
- 2:18:13products because that is where the value
- 2:18:14will come from. But I have seen many
- 2:18:16successful examples of people
- 2:18:18advertising posters on Tik Tok and
- 2:18:20channeling traffic to their Etsy shops.
- 2:18:22Tik Tok shop is also another thing that
- 2:18:23we will have a video on coming soon
- 2:18:25because that can be another great
- 2:18:27platform for selling posters online.
- 2:18:29That is the great thing about selling
- 2:18:30posters. We can sell them anywhere. So
- 2:18:32yeah, Etsy best place to start. Please
- 2:18:34do focus on that for now. There is a
- 2:18:36reason why we recommend it, but we will
- 2:18:38have a lot of content coming soon on how
- 2:18:39you can expand onto other platforms.
- 2:18:41Another thing you can do when running
- 2:18:42your Etsy shop is to try and get as many
- 2:18:44reviews as possible. Reviews do really
- 2:18:46help, but if you don't see yourself
- 2:18:48getting too many, then don't panic. For
- 2:18:50some reason, the average review rate on
- 2:18:51Etsy is about 10% of sales in my
- 2:18:54experience. For example, I've had 3,200
- 2:18:56sales on my travel print shop and only
- 2:18:58285 reviews. And I've had 1,700 sales on
- 2:19:01my art print shop with 233 reviews. So,
- 2:19:04as you can see, it varies a little bit
- 2:19:06either side, but I would say it normally
- 2:19:07averages out to about 10%. So, don't
- 2:19:09panic if you are around that rate or
- 2:19:11even a little bit less. One thing you
- 2:19:12can do is message customers a week or
- 2:19:14two after they've ordered to ask if they
- 2:19:16would like to leave a review. This is up
- 2:19:18to you whether you want to do that. It's
- 2:19:19not something I've ever done myself, but
- 2:19:22reviews do go a long way. So, if you
- 2:19:24want to put the effort in on this, then
- 2:19:25it might be worth looking at. Okay,
- 2:19:26guys. So, that is everything you need to
- 2:19:28know about the day-to-day running of an
- 2:19:29Etsy shop and how to keep your shop as
- 2:19:31successful as possible. As much as this
- 2:19:33is passive income, and my workday for my
- 2:19:36shops is genuinely about 10 minutes a
- 2:19:37day, it is important to stay on top of
- 2:19:40things and to be active on Etsy, making
- 2:19:42sure we're replying to customers,
- 2:19:44dispatching orders on time. Things like
- 2:19:46this really do make a difference,
- 2:19:47especially when it comes to getting
- 2:19:49Stareller, which can give your sales a
- 2:19:51big, big boost. So yes, this basically
- 2:19:53is passive income, but like anything in
- 2:19:55life, nothing is ever truly passive, and
- 2:19:57never believe anyone online that tells
- 2:19:58you something is. In the next video,
- 2:20:00we're going to go over using Printri and
- 2:20:02everything you need to know about us and
- 2:20:03the platform. Thanks for watching as
- 2:20:05always. So, what the hell is a Print
- 2:20:07Shrimp? We are a global poster print on
- 2:20:10demand company started about 18 months
- 2:20:12ago by just two friends. Now, my
- 2:20:14personal background was selling posters
- 2:20:16beforehand. So, we are very much a
- 2:20:17poster printing company founded by
- 2:20:19poster sellers. I always had a bad
- 2:20:22experience with platforms such as
- 2:20:23Printify and Gelato due to high prices,
- 2:20:26shipping delays, order issues. And to be
- 2:20:28honest, out of sheer delusion, me and my
- 2:20:31friend were like, I'm pretty sure we can
- 2:20:32do a better job. And if I do say so
- 2:20:34myself, I believe that is what we have
- 2:20:36done. So in this video, I'm just going
- 2:20:38to give you a walk through onto how to
- 2:20:39use Print Shrimp, who we are, and like
- 2:20:41what our values are, how we can help you
- 2:20:43sell posters on Etsy, and everything you
- 2:20:45need to know about the day-to-day of
- 2:20:47using Printri to help with your poster
- 2:20:49shop. We at Print just focus on posters.
- 2:20:52Unlike most other print on- demand
- 2:20:53providers that sell every kind of
- 2:20:55product that you can possibly think of,
- 2:20:57we only sell the one, well technically
- 2:20:59two if you want to say posters and
- 2:21:01framed posters, but we dial in on these
- 2:21:03and focus on these so we can be the
- 2:21:05number one in the industry and provide
- 2:21:07the best possible service for these
- 2:21:09products. And I believe that is what we
- 2:21:11have done. Not to toot my own horn, of
- 2:21:12course I'm biased, but focusing just on
- 2:21:14posters has allowed us to have an
- 2:21:16amazing offering. And we're often able
- 2:21:18to print post at a much lower price
- 2:21:20compared to our competition. This is
- 2:21:22largely because we are a small and
- 2:21:23nimble team and some of our sizes are up
- 2:21:26to 50% cheaper than the competition as
- 2:21:28in Gelato and Printify. We're very proud
- 2:21:30of this, but we do not compromise on the
- 2:21:33quality for these low prices at all. So,
- 2:21:35what is our standard offering? We print
- 2:21:37on a bare minimum of 200 GSM paper all
- 2:21:40around the world. Now we say bare
- 2:21:42minimum of 200 GSM largely just to cover
- 2:21:45ourselves because some locations in some
- 2:21:47very obscure European countries for
- 2:21:49example do use 200 GSM. However, you
- 2:21:52will find that about 80 to 90% of your
- 2:21:54orders will be either the UK or the US.
- 2:21:56And in the UK we print on 260 GSM by
- 2:22:00standard and 240 GSM by standard in the
- 2:22:03US. This is very thick premium poster
- 2:22:05paper, museum grade quality if you will.
- 2:22:08We also print on either gloss, satin or
- 2:22:10matte across all locations. And you are
- 2:22:12free to choose this either at the point
- 2:22:14of order or you can set your default
- 2:22:16paper type within your print account
- 2:22:17settings. And also we have framed
- 2:22:19prints. We have an awesome framed
- 2:22:21offering with the same consistent
- 2:22:22quality worldwide. It actually took us a
- 2:22:25year to coordinate our frame prints
- 2:22:26offering because we just weren't finding
- 2:22:28the quality we were after. But we have
- 2:22:30now finally done that and have launched
- 2:22:31our frame prints and they are of great
- 2:22:33great quality. So, those as well, you
- 2:22:35can choose between an oak, white, or
- 2:22:37black finish by standard. They're a nice
- 2:22:39thinner frame of about 20 to 25 mm thick
- 2:22:43and 10 to 14 mm wide. They're very high
- 2:22:45quality, and all frames come ready to
- 2:22:47hang, meaning that your customer will
- 2:22:49receive their poster already in a frame
- 2:22:51and ready to put on their walls. And
- 2:22:53yes, that is our whole offering, posters
- 2:22:55and frame posters, but we have done this
- 2:22:57intentionally, like I said, so we can
- 2:22:59really focus on these products and
- 2:23:01ensure your customers are leaving you
- 2:23:02guys fivestar reviews every single time.
- 2:23:05Now, once again, I want to touch on the
- 2:23:06profit margins that you guys can expect
- 2:23:08to see when using Print Shrimp. And
- 2:23:10these profit margins would be a lot less
- 2:23:12with other print on demand providers
- 2:23:14such as Printify or Gelato. So, for
- 2:23:16example, UK profit margins accounting
- 2:23:18for VAT charged by us and Etsy fees all
- 2:23:21the way up to £27.75 for A0 and 28.95
- 2:23:25for 30x40. For example, 24x 36 is an
- 2:23:29incredibly popular size and you will
- 2:23:30often see a lot of your sales will be of
- 2:23:32this size. And each time you sell one of
- 2:23:34these, £24 in your pocket. It's kind of
- 2:23:37crazy. The profit margins in posters and
- 2:23:39frame posters really are crazy. You
- 2:23:42would not see this with other print on
- 2:23:43demand products such as t-shirts. And
- 2:23:45this is why it is such a good product to
- 2:23:47sell. Large posters and large frame
- 2:23:49posters are perceived as a very high
- 2:23:51value item and therefore allows you to
- 2:23:53charge quite high prices on Etsy. You
- 2:23:56could even up these prices if you wanted
- 2:23:57to and wanted to see more profit. We
- 2:23:59calculated these prices to charge on
- 2:24:01Etsy from doing a lot of market
- 2:24:03research. These are a nice middle point
- 2:24:05whereas you will not be the cheapest on
- 2:24:07Etsy, but you will be far from the most
- 2:24:09expensive too. And it's a nice middle
- 2:24:11ground between not charging too much to
- 2:24:12customers but also ensuring that you
- 2:24:14have healthy profit margins. So these
- 2:24:16are just our recommended and you can
- 2:24:18change these to your liking. But it goes
- 2:24:20to show why posters are the best product
- 2:24:22to sell through print on demand. Again
- 2:24:24with our automated Etsy listing
- 2:24:26software, all of these prices will be
- 2:24:27pre-filled out for you when your
- 2:24:29products are automatically and instantly
- 2:24:30listed to Etsy. Also through our
- 2:24:32software, we give you the option to bulk
- 2:24:34edit your prices if you ever want to
- 2:24:36change them as that is not something
- 2:24:37that is native to Etsy software. But
- 2:24:39because we're cool, uh that's something
- 2:24:40we offer to you guys. Okay, so now I
- 2:24:42just want to run through our production
- 2:24:44times and delivery times as they do vary
- 2:24:46a bit between country and print
- 2:24:47location. These are important to be
- 2:24:49aware of, but we do have a very nice and
- 2:24:52easy to use table on our website. We
- 2:24:54really do prioritize rapid dispatch here
- 2:24:57at Printrimp. So if you come to our
- 2:24:59website, printstrimp.com/pricing,
- 2:25:01you can see here that you can click onto
- 2:25:03the country where you've had an order.
- 2:25:05You can select what date you place the
- 2:25:07order and then you can see when you can
- 2:25:08expect your tracking to come through and
- 2:25:11when you can expect the poster to be
- 2:25:13delivered. It will also show you the
- 2:25:15potential couriers that this poster may
- 2:25:16be sent with. Now again on this page we
- 2:25:19have to show you what the worst case
- 2:25:20scenario would be. But you'll find in
- 2:25:23most cases these posters are actually
- 2:25:25delivered faster than the longest
- 2:25:27possible production times. For example,
- 2:25:29in the UK, I would say that 95% of our
- 2:25:31orders, you will get the tracking for
- 2:25:33same day. We're very, very good at same
- 2:25:35day rapid dispatch in the UK. It's one
- 2:25:37of the things we're most proud of. And
- 2:25:39for those that don't come through the
- 2:25:40same day, you'll often find your
- 2:25:41tracking available the next morning.
- 2:25:43We're now actually the same in the USA.
- 2:25:45As much as we say processing time 1 to
- 2:25:46two days, I would say about 80% of our
- 2:25:48tracking currently comes through the
- 2:25:50same working day. Also, bear in mind
- 2:25:52these production times are based on
- 2:25:53working days and do not include Saturday
- 2:25:55and Sunday as our printers are shut. so
- 2:25:57they can go and spend time with their
- 2:25:58families. We're not that mean. So yes,
- 2:26:00as much as USA can take up to two days,
- 2:26:02you'll find the majority come through
- 2:26:03the same or next working day. This is on
- 2:26:06a US time zone, though, so do bear that
- 2:26:08in mind. The EU is in a similar boat
- 2:26:10where we advertise one to three working
- 2:26:11days, and some orders do take up to
- 2:26:14three working days, but the majority
- 2:26:16will go out either the next day or two
- 2:26:18working days later. We have multiple
- 2:26:19print locations throughout the EU. So,
- 2:26:21whilst your poster might not always be
- 2:26:23printed in the exact same country, for
- 2:26:25example, if someone orders a poster in
- 2:26:27Macedonia, we don't have a printer in
- 2:26:28Macedonia, but we will print from a
- 2:26:30neighboring EU country to minimize
- 2:26:33postal times and postal costs and also
- 2:26:35fuel emissions. We also have print
- 2:26:37locations in Australia and Canada with
- 2:26:39very rapid dispatch times where you can
- 2:26:41normally expect your tracking the next
- 2:26:42working day. Now, for the rest of the
- 2:26:44world, as we went through before, we
- 2:26:46recommend charging your customers this
- 2:26:48£849 shipping cost because these orders
- 2:26:50are printed in the UK and then sent
- 2:26:52internationally. We only really focus on
- 2:26:55the countries where you will actually be
- 2:26:56receiving orders. So, we do have the
- 2:26:58option there for you guys, of course, to
- 2:27:00ensure that you can fulfill orders to
- 2:27:01any country, but you will find that
- 2:27:03getting a sale for a rest of our country
- 2:27:05is very, very rare. But these will also
- 2:27:07be dispatched the same working day
- 2:27:09because they are being printed and
- 2:27:10shipped from the UK. We are very
- 2:27:12selective with who we partner with in
- 2:27:13terms of print shops and the high
- 2:27:15majority of our locations are smaller
- 2:27:17independent family ran locations. We
- 2:27:19love this. We think it makes us provide
- 2:27:21a much better service and offering. And
- 2:27:23also, not to sound cringey, but it means
- 2:27:25your posters get the love and care that
- 2:27:27they deserve. We don't really work with
- 2:27:28any of these huge automated factories
- 2:27:30where, you know, there's AI involved and
- 2:27:32it's all, you know, it's real people
- 2:27:34printing your posters and real people
- 2:27:36checking your artwork looks good and
- 2:27:38looks perfect before it is sent out. We
- 2:27:40also print with FSC print paper across
- 2:27:42the board which basically means it's
- 2:27:44forest stewardship council approved
- 2:27:46print paper which is a sustainable
- 2:27:48responsibly sourced paper in line with
- 2:27:50environmental and social standards. Also
- 2:27:52most of our packaging is recyclable and
- 2:27:54cardboard. So you can ensure we are
- 2:27:56doing everything we can to be
- 2:27:57environmentally friendly and sustainable
- 2:27:59especially because we do domestically
- 2:28:01print across the world rather than
- 2:28:03sending packages with international
- 2:28:05shipping. Now, my favorite thing about
- 2:28:06Printim is our customer service. And I
- 2:28:09do the high majority of customer
- 2:28:10service. So maybe that's why I'm saying
- 2:28:12that that we really pride ourselves on
- 2:28:14having a completely human approach. You
- 2:28:16will never ever be talking with an AI
- 2:28:18chatbot or assistant. It will always be
- 2:28:21me or someone similar. And you will
- 2:28:23build up a really good relationship with
- 2:28:25us. I have great relationships with mo,
- 2:28:27you know, most of our customers just
- 2:28:28from chatting to them dayto-day about
- 2:28:30how their shops are going and helping
- 2:28:31with any delivery issues and things like
- 2:28:33that. You will always talk to a human.
- 2:28:35You can always ask us questions about
- 2:28:37anything and we will always get back to
- 2:28:39you the same working day. Yeah, it's one
- 2:28:41of the things we're most proud of and
- 2:28:42are committed to never changing as we
- 2:28:44grow and scale. I spend a lot of my time
- 2:28:46in Bali and I've actually met quite a
- 2:28:47few customers that have been in Bali at
- 2:28:49the same time and said, "Hey, let's meet
- 2:28:50up." And that's been so cool. Ended up
- 2:28:52with some friends from it. So, that is
- 2:28:54the kind of customer service we
- 2:28:55genuinely reach for and aim for. We are
- 2:28:57humans at the end of the day. You don't
- 2:28:59need to talk to us like we're a formal
- 2:29:01business. chat to us, let us know what's
- 2:29:03up, and we'll help you deal with it. And
- 2:29:05on that vein, any order issues that do
- 2:29:06arise, as I've touched upon previously,
- 2:29:08we will sort out for you as quick as
- 2:29:10possible. We will never have you out of
- 2:29:12pocket for something that is not your
- 2:29:13fault. This means that any order that
- 2:29:15arrives late, damaged, incorrect,
- 2:29:18anything like that, we will resend free
- 2:29:20of charge for you. We also can obviously
- 2:29:22offer refunds if the customer does not
- 2:29:24want a resend, but we do normally try
- 2:29:26and push for resends just so your
- 2:29:27customer can get the original poster
- 2:29:29that they ordered. But yeah, we really
- 2:29:31are here to help. We're not stingy with
- 2:29:33uh resends either. Just chat to us and
- 2:29:36we will help sort out any order issues
- 2:29:37that do arise cuz it does happen.
- 2:29:39Couriers are often quite incompetent and
- 2:29:41for some reason I think they see a
- 2:29:42poster tube and they're like, "Oh my
- 2:29:44god, baseball bat and just start bashing
- 2:29:45on the floor sometimes cuz the state
- 2:29:47that some packages arrive in blows me
- 2:29:49away." Okay, so let's move on to
- 2:29:51actually creating a printrip account and
- 2:29:53using us dayto-day to help run your Etsy
- 2:29:55shop and print your posters. So first
- 2:29:57thing first is to sign up if you haven't
- 2:29:59already. I will not sit here and
- 2:30:00patronize you by telling you how to do
- 2:30:01that because you just need to put in an
- 2:30:03email and password and then sign up. So,
- 2:30:05this will bring you to your dashboard
- 2:30:06where we we say hello and welcome you.
- 2:30:08Uh there's some news popups and things
- 2:30:10like that. You can see some statistics
- 2:30:12as in the total prints you've put
- 2:30:13through uh print in total and in the
- 2:30:15last 30 days. And this is us. The first
- 2:30:17thing I would recommend doing is
- 2:30:18connecting your Etsy shop to Printrimp.
- 2:30:21So, if you come down here to
- 2:30:22integrations and click connect to Etsy,
- 2:30:24it will then take you over to Etsy. You
- 2:30:26just need to sign into your Etsy account
- 2:30:27if you're not already. Click approve and
- 2:30:29then boom, print is now connected to
- 2:30:31your Etsy shop because we can do some
- 2:30:33really cool things with this such as
- 2:30:35pulling over your orders and also the
- 2:30:37software that I mentioned previously
- 2:30:38which I will talk you through in a
- 2:30:39moment. So the main areas for you to be
- 2:30:41aware of, we have our create order
- 2:30:44section. This is where you can either
- 2:30:45import your orders from Etsy or manually
- 2:30:48create an order if you would like to do
- 2:30:49so. So let's go to create order. Then
- 2:30:51you can see you have the option of
- 2:30:52either print or framed print. And then
- 2:30:54this is just a standard order flow of
- 2:30:57say you want to I don't know order a
- 2:30:58sample posted to yourself. You can do
- 2:31:00this manually through here. Just type in
- 2:31:02your address and things like that. And
- 2:31:04then on the next screen you can either
- 2:31:05select or upload your artwork. But most
- 2:31:08of you will want to be placing orders
- 2:31:09through our Etsy integration because you
- 2:31:11don't want to waste your time typing in
- 2:31:12addresses. That that is a complete waste
- 2:31:14of time. So if you have open orders on
- 2:31:17your Etsy shop, here is how it works.
- 2:31:18You just come into create orders. You
- 2:31:20press import orders and as if by magic
- 2:31:23they will load in over from Etsy. How
- 2:31:25this integration works is that it pulls
- 2:31:27over your customer's address and
- 2:31:28everything like that. It will pick up
- 2:31:30the size. It will pick up the paper type
- 2:31:32if you have that on offer. If not, it
- 2:31:34will default to the paper type you have
- 2:31:35selected within your printroom account
- 2:31:37settings. You can come and change that
- 2:31:39very easily. And the way we link images
- 2:31:42from your Etsy shop to your printer is
- 2:31:44through the SKU. So, as I said earlier,
- 2:31:46all of your Etsy products should have
- 2:31:48one SKU, and that should be the file
- 2:31:50name on your computer, which will by
- 2:31:52default become the name of your file
- 2:31:54when you upload it to Printroom. And as
- 2:31:56you can see here, when I have my SKU set
- 2:31:58up correctly, it automatically loads in
- 2:32:00the poster, like the file of the poster
- 2:32:03linked to the order. That order is now
- 2:32:05completely ready to go. With instances
- 2:32:07where I don't have my SKU set up
- 2:32:08correctly, as you can see, all I need to
- 2:32:10do is click in and add my poster file.
- 2:32:13Very, very easy. does not take long at
- 2:32:15all because often times as we said
- 2:32:17before we have designed all of our
- 2:32:19posters in a sizes you might get an
- 2:32:21order for 24x36
- 2:32:23which means that you will not have that
- 2:32:24print file as 24x36 within print shrimp
- 2:32:28so all you will need to do go away
- 2:32:30redesign it to 24x36 come back [music]
- 2:32:32click add image load it in easy as that
- 2:32:35then the good thing is that image will
- 2:32:37save within print as all the other sizes
- 2:32:39within that aspect ratio which means
- 2:32:41that if the next day you sell that same
- 2:32:43poster for 12x8 rather than 24x36. It
- 2:32:46will then automatically pull over that
- 2:32:4812 x 18 poster because you have now
- 2:32:50uploaded that for that aspect ratio.
- 2:32:52This might seem a little bit confusing
- 2:32:54at first and there's a lot of sizes and
- 2:32:55things like that, but you will come to
- 2:32:56grips with it. Okay, so that is the
- 2:32:58create orders and where we place it. So
- 2:33:00then you just need to pay for your
- 2:33:01orders whenever they are all in there
- 2:33:03and print will then straight away get
- 2:33:05working on those and print and ship them
- 2:33:06around the world for you. Once an order
- 2:33:08has been paid for, it will move over to
- 2:33:10your paid orders window. This is where
- 2:33:12you'll be able to retrieve your
- 2:33:13tracking. You will also receive an email
- 2:33:15when tracking has been added to your
- 2:33:16order. But here you can press this nice
- 2:33:18little copy button to copy the tracking
- 2:33:20and then you can go and add it into Etsy
- 2:33:21if you need to. Also, so you don't lose
- 2:33:23track of what you have added tracking
- 2:33:25for. When you've added tracking, you can
- 2:33:27click mark order as complete. And this
- 2:33:29just moves it over to a completed tab
- 2:33:31away from new. Up to you whether you
- 2:33:33want to use this or not. I think it's
- 2:33:34very handy to stay on top of things. So
- 2:33:36that is essentially paid orders. And you
- 2:33:38can search here by customer name. You
- 2:33:40can search by PS number and it is here
- 2:33:43in paid orders that you will report any
- 2:33:45order issues. Say you receive a message
- 2:33:47from a customer on Etsy who says their
- 2:33:48order has arrived damaged and they've
- 2:33:50sent you a photo of a poster that has
- 2:33:52been desecrated by Royal Mail. Then come
- 2:33:54over into paid orders. You can search by
- 2:33:56your customer's name and then come here
- 2:33:58and click report a problem. Then you
- 2:34:00need to create a new case. We have all
- 2:34:02the options covered for what could have
- 2:34:04gone wrong with the order. So let's say
- 2:34:06order arrived damaged. And then just
- 2:34:08give us a little note. You don't have to
- 2:34:09say much. You can just say, "Hey,
- 2:34:11customer reported this one arrived
- 2:34:13damaged. Could we resend, please?" And
- 2:34:15then upload the images. And please do
- 2:34:18try and get a photo of the outer
- 2:34:19packaging of the order. This helps us
- 2:34:21make a claim against Royal Mail or
- 2:34:23whatever courier it is. So, if your
- 2:34:25customer does not provide one, please do
- 2:34:27ask them. We will obviously still try
- 2:34:28and help you out if this is not
- 2:34:30something you can provide, but it really
- 2:34:31helps us out having that. And then yeah,
- 2:34:33upload all of your images, type in
- 2:34:35what's happened, click submit, and then
- 2:34:37that will submit a case to us. We work
- 2:34:39through these all day every day. So then
- 2:34:41you will quickly receive an email
- 2:34:42resolution from us. Sometimes we'll get
- 2:34:45back to you and say, "Hey, looking into
- 2:34:46this. Other times we'll just respond
- 2:34:48later in the day with your brand new
- 2:34:50tracking because we would have already
- 2:34:51resent it. Normally you can expect to
- 2:34:53hear from us same working day, sometimes
- 2:34:55the next working day depending on what
- 2:34:56time you submitted your case. But as I
- 2:34:58said before, we do pride ourselves on
- 2:35:00our customer service. we will always
- 2:35:01very quickly try and solve any issues
- 2:35:03like this that do arise. All right, so
- 2:35:05let's move down to the my print file
- 2:35:07section because this is where your
- 2:35:09posters that you upload to print live
- 2:35:11and where they are. But I wanted to get
- 2:35:12a distinction clear here. So say that
- 2:35:14you have made 200 posters and you've not
- 2:35:17uploaded them yet to Etsy. There's two
- 2:35:19things you can do. You can come into
- 2:35:21Print, you can upload your files just so
- 2:35:24they sit and live on Print and then you
- 2:35:26can go and separately upload your
- 2:35:28posters yourself manually to Etsy. So
- 2:35:30this bulk upload here in my products is
- 2:35:33just to get your files within print
- 2:35:35system. For bulk we only accept a sizes
- 2:35:38but that is how you should be designing
- 2:35:39your posters anyway. You literally just
- 2:35:41drag and drop all of your posters and it
- 2:35:44will upload them to print and again we
- 2:35:46will take the file name as your print
- 2:35:48SKU. So that is why I say make sure your
- 2:35:51Etsy SKU is the same as the file name on
- 2:35:54your computer because if you then bulk
- 2:35:56upload your products to Print through
- 2:35:58bulk upload, your Print SKUs will be
- 2:36:01those file [music] names. I hope that
- 2:36:03makes sense. So this section is just so
- 2:36:05you can store your posters within
- 2:36:06Printim system. It means that when you
- 2:36:08get a sale and you import it over
- 2:36:10through Etsy integration, we have your
- 2:36:12poster within our system and we can port
- 2:36:13over that poster file and match it to
- 2:36:15the order. But there is of course the
- 2:36:17other way of doing it which we obviously
- 2:36:19recommend which is through the software
- 2:36:21that we have built and this lives in
- 2:36:23listing tools and is our bulk list
- 2:36:24products to Etsy. This is the tool that
- 2:36:27say you have created 200 posters will
- 2:36:29allow you to upload those 200. They will
- 2:36:32be instantly placed into up to five
- 2:36:34mockups. You can add all of your listing
- 2:36:36images in the template. It will put all
- 2:36:38of those images into mockups, do all of
- 2:36:41the SEO for you, titles, descriptions,
- 2:36:43tags, and upload them to Etsy for you.
- 2:36:46It is an amazing tool. Obviously, I'm
- 2:36:48selling it here. Yes, we do charge for
- 2:36:50the software, but we have to cuz it
- 2:36:52costs us money to to build and make,
- 2:36:53obviously, and you know, we are a
- 2:36:55business at the end of the day. Let's
- 2:36:56not lie. But I cannot speak enough for
- 2:36:58the amount of time that this will save
- 2:37:00you. 500 listings used to take me about
- 2:37:032 months to get uploaded to Etsy doing
- 2:37:05about 3 hours a day. And now you can pay
- 2:37:07£50 and have them uploaded instantly.
- 2:37:10It's so worth the investment because
- 2:37:13Etsy is a numbers game. The quicker you
- 2:37:15can get your post uploaded to Etsy, the
- 2:37:17quicker you can start making sales. £50
- 2:37:19a month, one framed print [music] sale
- 2:37:22can get you that £50 back. One frame
- 2:37:24print sale. And if you're uploading 500
- 2:37:27good posters, chances are you will get
- 2:37:29that one frame print sale times a lot
- 2:37:31more. As I said, we do give you five
- 2:37:33listings a month for free just so you
- 2:37:35can see the process and see how it
- 2:37:37works, which I highly recommend doing
- 2:37:39cuz it's it's an awesome software. It's
- 2:37:40so so cool. So, just so you can see how
- 2:37:42this works, I'm going to take you
- 2:37:43through it now. So, as you come into
- 2:37:45listing tools and bulk list products to
- 2:37:47Etsy, how it works is you set up a
- 2:37:49template first of all. This contains
- 2:37:51just the core basic information for each
- 2:37:53listing and is very important to set up.
- 2:37:55This is where you select your mockups.
- 2:37:56You can add your listing information
- 2:37:58squares and things like that. So, let's
- 2:38:00make one now. Template name. This is
- 2:38:01just for your records. You can call it
- 2:38:03whatever. But say you have different
- 2:38:04types of posters on your shop. Say I'm
- 2:38:06selling food posters and cat posters. I
- 2:38:09would call this template cat posters.
- 2:38:11For this one, we're going to do travel
- 2:38:12prints. So, let's call it travel
- 2:38:14posters. And here is where you select
- 2:38:16your mockups. And as you can see, we
- 2:38:18have a huge mockup library. Uh they're
- 2:38:20all handpicked by us to ensure that they
- 2:38:22show off your posters in the best
- 2:38:24possible lighting and they're very close
- 2:38:26up. So again, this software saves the
- 2:38:28hassle of having to go and find mock-ups
- 2:38:30and manually insert posters into these
- 2:38:32mockups, which trust me is a hell of a
- 2:38:34pain. And you can select up to five
- 2:38:36mockups per listings for one credit. You
- 2:38:38can select more if you would like, but
- 2:38:40it will use two credits per [music]
- 2:38:41listing. Okay, so let's just select five
- 2:38:43random mockups here. Now, tempate
- 2:38:45listing photos. So, as you can see,
- 2:38:46we've selected our mockups, but here is
- 2:38:48where we can also add our other listing
- 2:38:51information squares. So, on mine, I have
- 2:38:53a thing about protection. I've got a
- 2:38:55thing about a free off 20 sale. I've got
- 2:38:57a thing about personalization. And I've
- 2:38:59got one for my logo. So, again, I can
- 2:39:01add these in and these will be added to
- 2:39:03each of the listings that we upload
- 2:39:04through this tool. You can also upload
- 2:39:06your listing video here, and that will
- 2:39:07be added to each of your listings. Also,
- 2:39:09if you did have your own mockups that
- 2:39:11you would like to use, you can upload
- 2:39:13this in my uploads. You can upload your
- 2:39:15own PSD document and our tool will be
- 2:39:18able to do that for you too. Okay, so my
- 2:39:20listing squares have loaded in. Now we
- 2:39:21can press done and we can actually give
- 2:39:23the AI some instructions on how we like
- 2:39:26our titles and descriptions and things
- 2:39:28like that. So for example, if you want
- 2:39:29it to avoid using the word wall art for
- 2:39:32whatever reason and only say poster, you
- 2:39:33can instruct it to do that. If you're
- 2:39:35uploading travel posters and you want it
- 2:39:37to include the city and the country, you
- 2:39:39can tell it to do that. And the same
- 2:39:40goes for description as well. Our AI
- 2:39:42will also generate each description
- 2:39:44specific to each poster to maximize SEO.
- 2:39:46But what you can do is have some footer
- 2:39:48text that is appended to each
- 2:39:50description, which we highly recommend.
- 2:39:52We've actually typed out an example here
- 2:39:54that you could use, and you can click
- 2:39:56use example, and it will allow you to
- 2:39:57add that onto each of your listings if
- 2:39:59you so wish to do that. Some default
- 2:40:01attributes here we've already filled out
- 2:40:02for you. And default tags. Again, if you
- 2:40:04want to guarantee that any tags are on
- 2:40:06any listing, you can do that. So here,
- 2:40:08so for this one, we're doing travel
- 2:40:09print. So, I want to guarantee that each
- 2:40:10listing says travel print, travel
- 2:40:12poster, travel wall art. And you could
- 2:40:15get specific. For me, I'm just going to
- 2:40:16upload loads of different countries. But
- 2:40:18if you were only uploading Europe
- 2:40:20posters, for example, you could say
- 2:40:22Europe poster and that kind of thing.
- 2:40:24Pricing and variations. As you can see,
- 2:40:26we have filled this all out for you with
- 2:40:28our printing recommended pricing. Same
- 2:40:30goes for frames as well. So, this saves
- 2:40:32so much work having to type in all of
- 2:40:34these numbers yourself. And then all of
- 2:40:35this information is filled out by
- 2:40:37default, too. So now we can save
- 2:40:38template and now you'll see how quickly
- 2:40:41we can literally just drag in some
- 2:40:43travel images. So let's just drag in
- 2:40:45five random travel posters that I have.
- 2:40:47It will upload these. All right, so
- 2:40:49we've uploaded our files and now we just
- 2:40:51need to click generate all and it will
- 2:40:52do the magic. And look at how quickly it
- 2:40:55places all of the products in mockups.
- 2:40:57And look at that. We can all see it come
- 2:40:58to life. So Archers National Park travel
- 2:41:01poster print Bordeaux France artwork
- 2:41:03poster architectural print wall art.
- 2:41:05Changdu, China travel poster wall art.
- 2:41:07And look at all of our products within
- 2:41:09the mockups. The print file here is just
- 2:41:11for reference that won't be uploaded to
- 2:41:13Etsy, so don't worry about that. And
- 2:41:15here you can see our posters have been
- 2:41:17magically placed into all five different
- 2:41:18mockups. We have a description for each
- 2:41:21filled with SEO. We have a nice Etsy
- 2:41:23optimized title according to their new
- 2:41:252026 standards. We have loads of tags
- 2:41:28filled out and it's ready to upload to
- 2:41:30Etsy. So, we can click through here,
- 2:41:32click ready and next. I would recommend
- 2:41:33going through each listing manually.
- 2:41:35There might be some tags that you want
- 2:41:36to swap out just to really optimize SEO,
- 2:41:38but that's up to you. And we can ready
- 2:41:40them next all. And now we can select all
- 2:41:43and list to Etsy. So the only caveat
- 2:41:46here is that once listed to Etsy, they
- 2:41:48will list to your drafts. So once
- 2:41:49they're in your draft, then you just
- 2:41:51need to select global and domestic
- 2:41:52pricing and do it however you've done it
- 2:41:54before. You can do this in bulk. It's
- 2:41:56very easy to select all in Etsy and then
- 2:41:58set global and domestic pricing to the
- 2:42:01level that we said before. or I think £4
- 2:42:02for the rest of the world. Etsy doesn't
- 2:42:04allow us to do this on our end, so this
- 2:42:06is just the only thing that you need to
- 2:42:07do, but you can do it in two clicks and
- 2:42:09then publish them all from your drafts
- 2:42:11and then boom, they're live in your Etsy
- 2:42:13shop. It is an incredible tool. I highly
- 2:42:15recommend that you uh upload some
- 2:42:17manually and then upload some using our
- 2:42:19software just so you can see the
- 2:42:20difference because I cannot stress
- 2:42:21enough how worth the money this is uh
- 2:42:23and how quickly it allows you to have a
- 2:42:26successful Etsy shop with all your posts
- 2:42:27uploaded. It's it's crazy. Some other
- 2:42:29tools we have, we have just a bulk
- 2:42:31mockup generator. So, this just does the
- 2:42:33mockup part and then you need to go away
- 2:42:35and upload your products to Etsy
- 2:42:36manually. We have this as an option just
- 2:42:38in case anybody only wants the mockups
- 2:42:40to be done and then wants to go away and
- 2:42:41upload manually. So, just FYI, but that
- 2:42:43does not include the actual listing to
- 2:42:45Etsy part. And we have the ability to
- 2:42:47bulk change Etsy variations and prices
- 2:42:49if you ever want to update your prices
- 2:42:51or sizes in bulk. And we also have a
- 2:42:53tool where you can bolt change your
- 2:42:54SKUs. These might not be relevant to you
- 2:42:56guys who are just learning now. And
- 2:42:58there are tutorials within these
- 2:43:00sections that go through how to use
- 2:43:02them. So I'll leave them for you to
- 2:43:03explore at your own time if you ever
- 2:43:05need to. So yeah, this is the software
- 2:43:06that we currently offer at Printri. We
- 2:43:09are very proud of it as you can probably
- 2:43:10tell from me waffling on about it. And I
- 2:43:12highly recommend you go and check it out
- 2:43:14cuz it is so so valuable. Now if you'll
- 2:43:16come across these videos and you sell on
- 2:43:17other platforms, we do have integrations
- 2:43:19live for other platforms apart from
- 2:43:21Etsy. Currently, we have a CSV uploaded
- 2:43:23for Shopify where you can just export
- 2:43:25your order sheet and then upload it into
- 2:43:27Printrimp. And we will have full
- 2:43:29integrations for other platforms coming
- 2:43:30very soon. So, what order issues may
- 2:43:33arise when selling posters? The most
- 2:43:35common culprit is damaged orders cuz
- 2:43:37couriers hate posters for some reason.
- 2:43:39They often get stood on or folded in
- 2:43:41half. Again, it's a bit of a pain, but
- 2:43:44we will always resend free of charge.
- 2:43:46Sometimes as well, packages do get lost.
- 2:43:48Normally after seven days to 10 days we
- 2:43:50can claim these as lost and resend, but
- 2:43:52we will try and do our best to resend
- 2:43:54sooner, especially if your customer
- 2:43:55needs them for a certain occasion. One
- 2:43:57other annoying thing that sometimes
- 2:43:58happens is that packages do not get
- 2:44:00scanned in when they originally get
- 2:44:02picked up. So the tracking will be stuck
- 2:44:04on we're expecting it, for example. This
- 2:44:06may look like it has not been sent from
- 2:44:08our end and is very frustrating for us,
- 2:44:10but this order will have been collected
- 2:44:12by the courier. They will have just
- 2:44:13forgotten to scan it in. So normally if
- 2:44:15an order is stuck on we are expecting it
- 2:44:17for 3 to 4 days, it will update when it
- 2:44:20reaches either the final or next
- 2:44:22destination. This is one of the annoying
- 2:44:24order issues that looks a bit
- 2:44:25suspicious. But normally when this
- 2:44:27happens, if you give the package a few
- 2:44:28more days, it will update upon delivery
- 2:44:30or like I said when it reaches its next
- 2:44:32stop. This Royal Mail and USPS are the
- 2:44:35main culprits for this. Normally doesn't
- 2:44:37happen very often, but it's just an FYI
- 2:44:39just in case you do ever come across it.
- 2:44:41Our price list is very very easy to
- 2:44:43understand and we make it even easier
- 2:44:44for you with our recommended prices to
- 2:44:47charge on Etsy. A lot of print on demand
- 2:44:49platforms change their prices quite
- 2:44:50often and do a more dynamic thing. We
- 2:44:52have a fixed rate policy so you guys
- 2:44:55know your actual cost and profit
- 2:44:57margins. We have one price per size per
- 2:45:00country with free shipping as well. So
- 2:45:02it really keeps it simple. Obviously, we
- 2:45:04do need to charge VAT as well, but we
- 2:45:06clearly communicate that when that is
- 2:45:07happening. And our recommended prices do
- 2:45:10account for VAT being charged. And the
- 2:45:12profit figures you are seeing is after
- 2:45:14accounting for VAT. Order issues will
- 2:45:16happen every now and then, especially if
- 2:45:18you get to a point of regular sales. But
- 2:45:19as I said, we are always here to help.
- 2:45:21But I cannot stress the importance of
- 2:45:23checking your emails. We always remedy
- 2:45:25solutions through emails. And it's very
- 2:45:27frustrating that sometimes we have
- 2:45:29customers flag all the issues that never
- 2:45:31actually check their emails and see the
- 2:45:32resolutions and then keep raising cases
- 2:45:34on the platform. So do check your
- 2:45:36emails. That is where responses will
- 2:45:37come through to and how we kind of
- 2:45:39communicate on a day-to-day basis. We
- 2:45:41use a wide range of couriers here at
- 2:45:43Printrimp. Most of our UK orders go with
- 2:45:45Royal Mail and some do go with every. I
- 2:45:48know a lot of you will hear me say every
- 2:45:49and go, but we monitor damage rates and
- 2:45:52they're actually no worse than Royal
- 2:45:53Mail. In the US, we use a wide range,
- 2:45:55largely USPS. And across the EU, most of
- 2:45:58our orders go with DHL, but some with
- 2:46:00JLS packet and things like that. We
- 2:46:02track the performance of every courier
- 2:46:03we use, and if they ever fall below our
- 2:46:05standards, we will cut them off. We are
- 2:46:07very good at dealing with things like
- 2:46:08this and staying on top of things like
- 2:46:10this. Once again, just in case you came
- 2:46:12across this video from YouTube, I want
- 2:46:13to shout out our school community. It's
- 2:46:15the thing we are most proud of here at
- 2:46:17Printri because the majority of our
- 2:46:19customers have learned how to sell
- 2:46:21posters from us and we're not previously
- 2:46:22in the world of e-commerce or selling
- 2:46:24art prints. So, we recently printed our
- 2:46:26100,000th poster and the high majority
- 2:46:29of those posters are from people that
- 2:46:31previously weren't selling online and
- 2:46:33would not have existed without our
- 2:46:35knowledge and guidance and without you
- 2:46:36guys giving it a crack and getting
- 2:46:38involved and starting Etsy shops, which
- 2:46:40is awesome. It's been a very rewarding
- 2:46:42way to grow a business and it's through
- 2:46:45videos like this and this education that
- 2:46:47we have been able to teach people how to
- 2:46:49sell posters and how we've been able to
- 2:46:50get Printroom to the point where it is
- 2:46:52today. So make the most of the school
- 2:46:55community. Do not be afraid to ask
- 2:46:56questions. Do not be afraid to celebrate
- 2:46:59your wins. Like we're really really
- 2:47:00proud of this community that we have
- 2:47:02built. So yeah, do make the most of it.
- 2:47:04Talk to each other. Ask questions. Share
- 2:47:06your journey. This is a really awesome
- 2:47:09thing to do. It is so fun to create
- 2:47:10products and to build up a successful
- 2:47:12Etsy shop. And yes, we do have people
- 2:47:14coming through every day and reaching
- 2:47:16milestones such as their first, hundth,
- 2:47:18or even thousandth posters sold. Do
- 2:47:20check out our win section. You'll see it
- 2:47:22for yourself. The Etsy wall art market
- 2:47:24is booming, and it's never been easier
- 2:47:26to break through and succeed, especially
- 2:47:28now we have things like our software and
- 2:47:30frame prints that can really boost your
- 2:47:32margins. Once again, this is not a
- 2:47:34get-rich quick scheme. This will take
- 2:47:36time and it will take patience, but if
- 2:47:38you put the hard work in and make good
- 2:47:40posters, you can really, really see some
- 2:47:43incredible results. So, the very best of
- 2:47:45luck to you. I hope you've taken notes
- 2:47:47throughout this video course. I hope
- 2:47:49you're ready to get stuck in and to work
- 2:47:51hard. And of course, let me know if you
- 2:47:53have any questions. Best place to reach
- 2:47:54me is heyrtrim.com
- 2:47:56or just ask a question in the school
- 2:47:58community. But thank you very much for
- 2:48:00watching and absolutely best of luck to
- 2:48:02you. There is no reason why the next
- 2:48:04successful Etsy poster shop cannot be
- 2:48:06you. I feel incredibly lucky to be able
- 2:48:08to make videos like this and to empower
- 2:48:10people to earn money through selling
- 2:48:12posters online and it's so so rewarding
- 2:48:14to see people's first sales come through
- 2:48:16print shrimp. We are incredibly grateful
- 2:48:18to have been able to build this company.
- 2:48:20It's been a lot of fun and yeah, we have
- 2:48:22a lot coming this year. We are busy as
- 2:48:24always improving our offering and
- 2:48:26service and making Printroom as best as
- 2:48:28it possibly can be for you guys as well.
- 2:48:31Do check out our YouTube channel because
- 2:48:32we have a lot of other short form
- 2:48:34content or shorter form videos going
- 2:48:37through more specific things all around
- 2:48:39posters. So if you ever have a specific
- 2:48:41question, it might be a good place to uh
- 2:48:43check out and see if we have a video for
- 2:48:45that. And if not, ask in our school, of
