  1. 0:18ladies and gentlemen
  2. 0:20the president of the united states
  3. 0:34have you been surprised by the intensity
  4. 0:37of the protest against your decision to
  5. 0:39send troops into cambodia
  6. 0:41and will these protests affect your
  7. 0:43policy in any way
  8. 0:45no i have not been surprised by the
  9. 0:47intensity of the protests
  10. 0:49i realize that those who are protesting
  11. 0:53believe that this decision will expand
  12. 0:57the war
  13. 0:58increase american casualties and
  14. 1:01increase american involvement
  15. 1:03and those who protest want peace they
  16. 1:06want to reduce american casualties
  17. 1:08and they want our boys brought home i
  18. 1:11made the decision however for the very
  19. 1:13reasons that they are protesting
  20. 1:17and as far as affecting my decision is
  21. 1:20concerned
  22. 1:22their protests i am concerned about
  23. 1:26i am concerned because i know how deeply
  24. 1:27they feel
  25. 1:30but i know that what i have done
  26. 1:33will accomplish the goals that they want
  27. 1:36it will shorten this war
  28. 1:38it will reduce american casualties it
  29. 1:41will allow us to go forward with our
  30. 1:42withdrawal program
  31. 1:43the 150 000 americans that i announce
  32. 1:46for withdrawal in the next year
  33. 1:48will come home on schedule and
  34. 1:51it will in my opinion serve the cause of
  35. 1:55a just peace
  36. 1:56in vietnam mr cormier
