  1. 0:00we've been through an incredibly
  2. 0:02difficult time as a nation we've gone
  3. 0:05through a tougher time than any time in
  4. 0:08the lifetimes of most of
  5. 0:10you a once in a generation
  6. 0:16Challenge and when I was sworn in it was
  7. 0:19my profound hope and I know it was the
  8. 0:22hope of many of you not just Democrats
  9. 0:24but Republicans it was the hope of so
  10. 0:27many
  11. 0:28people that it would cause
  12. 0:30both parties to put politics aside for a
  13. 0:32moment for the sake of the
  14. 0:36country the Republican leaders in
  15. 0:38Washington made a different decision
  16. 0:40they figured if they just sat on the
  17. 0:41sidelines long enough and if they
  18. 0:43opposed everything that we
  19. 0:45did if they said no even to policies
  20. 0:48that traditionally they had
  21. 0:50supported then they figured that they
  22. 0:53could ride people's anger and
  23. 0:55frustration all the way to success in
  24. 0:58the next election that was their working
  25. 1:00Theory it's as if they
  26. 1:03drove America's car into the
  27. 1:07[Music]
  28. 1:09ditch they they they drove it in the
  29. 1:11ditch and it was a big
  30. 1:13ditch and so I came along and we put on
  31. 1:16our boots and we went down into the
  32. 1:21ditch and it was hot down there and it
  33. 1:23was
  34. 1:25muddy there were
  35. 1:28bugs but we said that's that's okay even
  36. 1:31though we didn't drive it into the ditch
  37. 1:33it's still our responsibility to get
  38. 1:35that car out of the
  39. 1:40ditch and so we pushed and we pushed and
  40. 1:44every once in a while we'd look up and
  41. 1:45up on the road you'd see the Republicans
  42. 1:47standing there Fanning
  43. 1:50themselves sipping on a
  44. 1:55Slurpee having a
  45. 1:58latte and we'd say hey why don't you
  46. 2:00come down and help push a little bit we
  47. 2:02need some help down here and they'd say
  48. 2:04no that's all
  49. 2:05right they said but you need to push
  50. 2:08harder you're not pushing the right
  51. 2:11way and we just kept on pushing we kept
  52. 2:13on pushing finally we get this car up on
  53. 2:15level
  54. 2:17ground it's pointing in the right
  55. 2:20direction we're ready to move America
  56. 2:23[Music]
  57. 2:25forward but but but the next thing we
  58. 2:28know we get this tap on our shoulder and
  59. 2:31we look back and who is it it's the
  60. 2:34Republicans and they say we want the
  61. 2:36keys
  62. 2:46back you can't have the keys back you
  63. 2:49don't know how to
  64. 2:57drive now if you want you can you can
  65. 3:00roll with
  66. 3:03us but you got to be in the back
  67. 3:14seat I don't know if you've noticed if
  68. 3:16you want to take your car forward you
  69. 3:18got to put it in what in D if you want
  70. 3:20to go backwards it goes what we don't
  71. 3:23want to go backwards we're moving
