- 0:02World at the Contemporary Resort a
- 0:05resort that if you take the Montreal and
- 0:07you go through this Resort you end up at
- 0:09the Magic Kingdom you can see Space
- 0:11Mountain off in the distance
- 0:12Cinderella's castle and of course the
- 0:14train station and some people take this
- 0:17hotel for granted or they take it just
- 0:19as a fantastic piece of Walt Disney
- 0:22World History whether to stay at or to
- 0:25eat at to dine at or just to wander the
- 0:27premises on your way over to the Magic
- 0:30Kingdom but there is more to this Resort
- 0:32this hotel than meets the eye on
- 0:34November 17th 1973 president Richard
- 0:38Nixon answered a question in front of
- 0:41400 guests and a televised special for
- 0:44the Associated Press where he actually
- 0:47said I am not a crook and that actually
- 0:50happened in one of the ballrooms inside
- 0:53this Walt Disney World hotel you want to
- 0:56check it out please gather your watch
- 0:59your head and step join me shall

- 1:17[Music]
- 1:25you it's very interesting that over time
- 1:28Comedians and television shows talk show
- 1:30hosts they kind of misconstrued or ovx
- 1:33exaggerate what Nixon actually said it
- 1:35has become a basically a staple of Pop
- 1:37Culture I am not a crooked he always
- 1:40does the peace sign but inside one of
- 1:43these ballrooms that we are about to
- 1:45check out we are going to see the actual
- 1:46spot where the podium was the door he
- 1:48walked through and he answered one of
- 1:50the associated press's question and
- 1:53actually gave that famous
- 1:57line as you walk in the convention
- 1:59center you'll see these awesome floor
- 2:01mats some of my favorite floor mats
- 2:03we're actually going to go up to the
- 2:04second floor we you're on the bottom
- 2:05level so if you ever come here go up to
- 2:07the second floor and that is where the
- 2:09ballroom will be
- 2:28located
- 2:31as you can see on both sides there are a
- 2:33lot of different meeting rooms and
- 2:34ballrooms none of these are the ones
- 2:36Nixon was in the one we are looking for
- 2:38is the ballroom of americaas which lies
- 2:41straight
- 2:49ahead right through here is where it all
- 2:52happened basically through these doors
- 2:55is where Nixon walked in there were 400
- 2:57people seated in their seats he walked
- 2:59up to the podium he answered some
- 3:01questions and he delivered that famous
- 3:03line right through here and look there's
- 3:06a piano it's some pretty comfortable
- 3:09couches H the cool thing about the
- 3:12Contemporary is you're actually allowed
- 3:13to walk around and you can actually go
- 3:15in the meeting rooms in fact the doors
- 3:17are completely open and unlocked so
- 3:19let's actually go inside and see where
- 3:21it actually happened come
- 3:26on of course the carpet has changed over
- 3:28the years the kitchen back there the
- 3:31private restroom is back there but Nixon
- 3:33would have walked right through those
- 3:35doors the podium would have been
- 3:38standing right there and he would have
- 3:40stood behind the
- 3:42podium answered some questions all the
- 3:45Associated Press and public all seated
- 3:49right in here on their seats people
- 3:51lined up against this
- 3:54wall but there you go there's the
- 3:56shot right
- 3:58there
- 4:01I have never obstructed
- 4:07Justice pretty crazy to
- 4:09think that President Nixon was standing
- 4:13right
- 4:15there amazing here's the actual doors
- 4:18that he walked through of course the
- 4:19doors have been repurposed and
- 4:21resurfaced since then they were
- 4:22different doors but this was the actual
- 4:25walkway where Nixon walked through and
- 4:28walked up to the podium
- 4:31so just imagine the podium basically
- 4:34right there next to where this chair is
- 4:35the podium would have been there
- 4:37speaking out to the
- 4:41crowd people have got to know whether or
- 4:43not they're president a c well I'm not a
- 4:46crook I've burned everything I've
- 4:51got so there you have it a little bit of
- 4:54presidential and Walt Disney World
- 4:56History combined hopefully you learn
- 4:58something new today feel free to leave
- 4:59some comments about the subject down
- 5:01below and remember if you show up out
- 5:02here you allowed to walk the halls and
- 5:05enter the ballrooms as long as nothing
- 5:06is actually happening if there is no
- 5:08convention actually taking place inside
- 5:11one of the rooms I'd also like to give a
- 5:12shout out to my friend at Smith film
- 5:14Productions who actually told me about
- 5:16this me and him did a video for his
- 5:17channel a few years ago I will post a

- 5:32lights that are in here look at the
- 5:35ceiling and the way the lighting is set
- 5:37up very futuristic and
- 5:58cool
