- 0:00peacekeeping doesn't work without its
- 0:02troop and police contributors we
- 0:03entirely dependent on
- 0:09them when the United Nations was created
- 0:13new possibility was uh was was was
- 0:16erected which was the possibility of
- 0:19countries to contribute to peace in
- 0:21other countries through this
- 0:24internationally mediated effort it
- 0:26seemed to us that it was important to
- 0:28make this contribution to
- 0:30International
- 0:35Peace we don't have our own forces our
- 0:38forces are given to us by the
- 0:39International Community for a particular
- 0:46purpose countries like Portugal provide
- 0:49specific capabilities what we call Niche
- 0:52capabilities that are difficult for us
- 0:54to get whether it's special forces or
- 0:56police or specific other skill sets high
- 1:00quality Personnel that allow us to make
- 1:03a difference on the ground and can make
- 1:05an impact every time they deploy that's
- 1:08tremendously valuable for un
- 1:14peacekeeping what I have seen over the
- 1:17years is growing confidence in in Minar
- 1:21in the United Nations mission in Central
- 1:24African Republic and I believe that the
- 1:26Portuguese contribution has something to
- 1:28do with that so I'm very proud that the
- 1:31Portuguese peacekeeping uh troops are
- 1:34there making their contribution to a
- 1:36country which has its name says is
- 1:39Central to the African
- 1:51[Music]
