Poor Sean Spicer Says He Regrets Embarrassing His Family & Friends As Trump’s Press Secretary — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Recently, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer appeared on MSNBC, where they
- 0:05decided to greet him with a video of some of his greatest hits as Press Secretary, and
- 0:11then proceeded to ask him if he had any regrets about taking the job.
- 0:16Take a look.
- 0:17I want to just, these are just some of your greatest hits, so to speak, and I want to
- 0:20talk to you about it on the other side and get your take on one or two of these.
- 0:24Take a listen.
- 0:26This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period.
- 0:30Both in person and around the globe.
- 0:32But even General Flynn was a volunteer of the campaign.
- 0:37And then obviously there's been discussion of Paul Manafort who played a very limited
- 0:41role for a very limited amount of time, but you had a, you know, someone who's as despicable
- 0:47as Hitler, who didn't even sink to the, to using chemical weapons.
- 0:52You made some mistakes.
- 0:54Yes.
- 0:55Do you regret taking the job?
- 0:58No.
- 0:59Not at all?
- 1:00I think in terms of net net, I enjoyed having a front row seat to history, was an opportunity
- 1:06of a lifetime.
- 1:08Did I make mistakes?
- 1:09Thank you for taking me down memory lane, absolutely.
- 1:12Do I hope I grow as a person, as a friend, as a stranger, to do better?
- 1:17Absolutely.
- 1:18You're giving me, but you're giving me a diplomatic answer.
- 1:21Well, what do you?
- 1:22Do you, do you regret at all taking the job, and by that-
- 1:25No, no, no, I regret things that I did that brought embarrassment to myself, my family,
- 1:31friends of mine who have been very big supporters where I said, "Hey, that was a self-inflicted
- 1:35wound.
- 1:36I screwed up."
- 1:37Spicer really hit the nail on the head there, when he said, "These are self-inflicted wounds."
- 1:44And he is 100% right.
- 1:45And yes, he does owe his family and his friends an apology for how embarrassing he was for
- 1:53them during his time as Press Secretary.
- 1:56But again, self-inflicted wounds.
- 1:58He is the one who made the choice to walk up to that podium and lie to the American
- 2:03public every single day.
- 2:05He is the one who got so irate during press conferences that Saturday Night Live devoted
- 2:11about eight months to making fun of him.
- 2:15He is the one who did this to himself, and yes, they were self-inflicted wounds, as he
- 2:20correctly pointed out.
- 2:23And he regrets embarrassing his family, his friends, and everyone he's ever known throughout
- 2:27his life, but he doesn't regret taking the job.
- 2:30Now, those two statements seem to be at odds with one another.
- 2:34You can't be embarrassed about your behavior, the things you had to say, the things you
- 2:39had to do, as Press Secretary, and also not regret taking the job.
- 2:45Because if you don't regret taking it, then you don't regret the horrible things that
- 2:49you were made to do.
- 2:51You could've said no, you could've done something else, but you went right along with it.
- 2:55That's part of that job.
- 2:57Do you regret shrinking off into the bushes, telling reporters to "Come over here where
- 3:02there's no cameras", to talk to you?
- 3:05You didn't even mention that one and MSNBC didn't even bother to show that, but that
- 3:09to me was probably one of your more embarrassing moments as Press Secretary.
- 3:13And I hope every member of the Trump Administration watches that interview with Sean Spicer.
- 3:19Where he does talk about the few regrets that he does have about embarrassing his friends
- 3:23and family.
- 3:24Because Sean Spicer, as of right now, still can't find a job.
- 3:27No media outlet wants to hire him even though he has applied to damn near all of them.
- 3:33He can't get a full-time gig lecturing.
- 3:36He can't get a full-time gig as an adjunct professor at colleges.
- 3:41He can't find work because he has no credibility, and that includes the application he put in
- 3:47at Fox News that was declined.
- 3:49He has so little credibility that even Fox News was like, "I don't think we're going
- 3:54to go that route, but you know, thank you for your time."
- 3:58Every member of the Trump Administration needs to understand that.
- 4:02Because Sean Spicer's future is the future for you as well.
- 4:06People like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway.
- 4:10Watch what happens to Sean Spicer, because that exact same thing is going to happen to
- 4:15each and every one of you.
