  1. 0:12most people in the United States are
  2. 0:14over stressed they're trying to keep up
  3. 0:17um in their daily activities trying to
  4. 0:19be successful at work at school at home
  5. 0:23and that eventually leads to Stress and
  6. 0:25Anxiety there's a need to break this
  7. 0:28Vicious Circle um
  8. 0:30I myself personally struggled with that
  9. 0:33as a wife mother and a full-time college
  10. 0:35student I had trouble keeping up I was
  11. 0:38constantly stressed and overwhelmed and
  12. 0:41I was looking for a
  13. 0:44solution everywhere I need IR reliable
  14. 0:46stress
  15. 0:48reliever uh I spend time um and money on
  16. 0:53fancy stuff on Miracle pills none of
  17. 0:55those work but what worked is simple
  18. 0:59it's just a simp simple as that and you
  19. 1:00don't need to spend a penny that's
  20. 1:04meditation uh today I want to inform me
  21. 1:08about the concept of
  22. 1:10meditation um types of meditation
  23. 1:13characteristics of that most meditation
  24. 1:15practices have in common and I want to
  25. 1:18persuade you to start meditating
  26. 1:26yourself now that I have previewed my
  27. 1:28main points let me introduce the concept
  28. 1:30of meditation meditation is a mind and
  29. 1:33body technique that involves deliberate
  30. 1:35holding one's deliberately holding one's
  31. 1:37attention on subject object or a
  32. 1:42process uh it goes back to ancient
  33. 1:45Eastern religions and spiritual
  34. 1:47traditions and has been practiced by
  35. 1:50Buddha and be was made Popular by be in
  36. 1:5260s by the way a most important feature
  37. 1:56of meditation is uh focusing focus at
  38. 1:59attention of
  39. 2:01meditator as we just learned most
  40. 2:03important feature of meditation is
  41. 2:04focused attention actually uh all most
  42. 2:08meditation practices have four elements
  43. 2:10in
  44. 2:12common uh let's
  45. 2:14see I call it flap it's easy to
  46. 2:20remember that's Focus location attitude
  47. 2:23and
  48. 2:24posture uh Focus attention that's pretty
  49. 2:27clear location that can be you know
  50. 2:30you might have tough time finding a
  51. 2:32quiet location cuz you need really quiet
  52. 2:34location with as few distractions as
  53. 2:36possible uh attitude let distractions
  54. 2:39come and go open attitude let me give
  55. 2:42you an example you get uh an A in your
  56. 2:46speech class and you just let it come
  57. 2:48and go without being too excited about
  58. 2:50it or you failed your speech class and
  59. 2:52then well you just let it go that's an
  60. 2:55open open attitude that's why call an
  61. 2:57open attitude so you might consider as
  62. 3:00well uh posture what is good about
  63. 3:03meditation is you're not supposed to
  64. 3:06start with L position and like you know
  65. 3:08feel like an disabled person afterward
  66. 3:12you can
  67. 3:13actually see or just walk around you
  68. 3:18know concentrate in attention make sure
  69. 3:20you're concentrated on all that or you
  70. 3:23can live light down so there a
  71. 3:26choice uh as we just learned most uh
  72. 3:30meditation practices have flap in
  73. 3:32common
  74. 3:35uh we just talked about flap now let's
  75. 3:38talk about different types of meditation
  76. 3:40all of them have this elements in
  77. 3:43common
  78. 3:44uh breath concentration is a Cornerstone
  79. 3:50of meditation
  80. 3:54techniques that's B basically breathing
  81. 3:58it's something we do on a regular basis
  82. 4:00but but really not
  83. 4:02it
  84. 4:04h as Richard Rosen a yoga teacher says
  85. 4:08do not we do not need to do anything
  86. 4:10about it but observe it there's one more
  87. 4:12mindfulness cultivating awareness of
  88. 4:15your experiences looking at an object
  89. 4:18such as a candle candle flame those were
  90. 4:20supposed to be
  91. 4:23on and movement using a physical
  92. 4:26technique like
  93. 4:27yoga by coordinating the
  94. 4:30breath and body with gentle
  95. 4:34movement for example like this using a
  96. 4:38mantra Mantra repeating a word or phrase
  97. 4:41over and over the most famous one
  98. 4:45is and or you can listen to meditation
  99. 4:49music
  100. 4:50uh we just discussed different types of
  101. 4:54meditation uh now you might say you
  102. 4:58might just wonder what's in it for for
  103. 4:59me but then uh there are conscious
  104. 5:02benefits meditation offers Accord

  113. 5:33Wellness uh as for the depression
  114. 5:35consider that study uh conducted by
