- 0:09oh
- 0:10nothing beats a cold glass of water on a
- 0:13hot day
- 0:16i'm paxy your favorite space explorer
- 0:20and today i will tell you all about the
- 0:22water cycle
- 0:24did you know that the water i am
- 0:26drinking is the same water that
- 0:28dinosaurs drank over 200 million years
- 0:31ago
- 0:32[Music]
- 0:34and the same water that you will be
- 0:36drinking 50 years from now
- 0:39as you know every living thing on earth
- 0:42needs water to survive
- 0:44plants
- 0:47trees
- 0:49animals
- 0:51and of course humans
- 0:54the earth only has a certain amount of
- 0:56water and it's the same today as it was
- 0:59four billion years ago
- 1:02it travels around and around and around
- 1:08this is called the water cycle it's
- 1:11mother nature's clever way of recycling
- 1:13its water come i'll show you how
- 1:19when the sun heats the earth it causes
- 1:22the temperature of water in rivers lakes
- 1:25and oceans to rise
- 1:28when this happens
- 1:30some of the water evaporates into the
- 1:32air
- 1:33becoming a gas called water vapor
- 1:37this is called evaporation
- 1:40as the water vapor moves up into the air
- 1:43it becomes cold and turns back into
- 1:46liquid droplets
- 1:48that's how clouds are formed
- 1:50this process is called condensation
- 1:58when a lot of water has condensed and
- 2:00the air cannot hold so many water
- 2:02droplets anymore the water falls back to
- 2:05earth
- 2:07it can do this in different ways
- 2:09rain
- 2:10hail
- 2:12sleet
- 2:13or snow
- 2:16this is what we call precipitation
- 2:19which is not always very nice
- 2:22especially when you want to play outside
- 2:26all the water that falls back to earth
- 2:28will be collected in different ways
- 2:31this is called collection
- 2:34water that falls into the oceans lakes
- 2:37and rivers
- 2:38will evaporate again and begin a new
- 2:40cycle
- 2:44water that falls on land soaks it and
- 2:47becomes groundwater that plants animals
- 2:50and humans use to drink
- 2:52water that falls on vegetation
- 2:54evaporates again through the leaves of
- 2:56the plants
- 2:59and do you know what happens to water
- 3:01that falls on glaciers as snow
- 3:04some of it freezes and keeps the glacier
- 3:07alive
- 3:08and some of it becomes liquid with the
- 3:10heat of the sun and feeds rivers
- 3:14cool isn't it
- 3:15wherever the water falls it keeps on
- 3:18recycling itself over and over and over
- 3:21again
- 3:23your planet really is amazing
- 3:27so
- 3:28today we learned that
- 3:30every living thing needs water to
- 3:32survive water on earth has been the same
- 3:35for four billion years water evaporates
- 3:39forms clouds and then falls back to
- 3:41earth
- 3:43it's collected into oceans lakes and
- 3:46rivers
- 3:47and it keeps on recycling itself over
- 3:51and over and over again
- 3:54bye-bye
- 3:55see you soon for our next adventure
- 3:58through the wonderful universe
