  2. 0:12hi there I'm pxy and I come from a far
  3. 0:15away planet I came to Earth to meet you
  4. 0:19and tell you about my Space Adventures
  5. 0:21are you ready to meet a
  6. 0:24comet comets are so beautiful look at
  7. 0:28this one it name is Halo Bop and it was
  8. 0:31visible from Earth for many months in
  9. 0:32the
  10. 0:331990s many of you were not even born
  11. 0:36then what makes Comet so beautiful is
  12. 0:39their bright tail this makes them really
  13. 0:42unique in the sky there is nothing else
  14. 0:45that looks like
  15. 0:46them let me take you closer to the edge
  16. 0:49of the solar system where comets come
  17. 0:52from I really want to find some of them
  18. 0:55and show them to you close up you will
  19. 0:57be
  20. 0:58surprised here we are we are very far
  21. 1:02away from the Sun here that's why it's
  22. 1:05so cold freezing cold it is difficult to
  23. 1:09imagine how cold it is
  24. 1:11here can you see all those dark objects
  25. 1:15they are like dirty snowballs they are
  26. 1:25comets we're getting close to the Sun
  27. 1:28and it's getting a bit warmer here look
  28. 1:31something is happening to the comet you
  29. 1:33can see some jets of gas and dust coming
  30. 1:35out and all this stuff is making a
  31. 1:37bright Cloud that goes all around it
  32. 1:41this cloud is called the coma from the
  33. 1:43ancient Greek word for hair
  34. 1:46amazing now we're even closer to the sun
  35. 1:49look the wind is coming from the sun
  36. 1:51it's starting to push against the gas
  37. 1:53and dust in the coma this is how comet's
  38. 1:56Tails form this is really really EXC
  39. 2:00exciting wow it goes faster my counter
  40. 2:03says more than 100,000 km/ hour that's
  41. 2:07about 30 times faster than the fastest
  42. 2:10airplane on
  43. 2:11earth most comets we see in the solar
  44. 2:14system follow a path which has an oval
  45. 2:16shape some of them swing around the Sun
  46. 2:20and go back to the edge of the solar
  47. 2:21system before heading in again for
  48. 2:24another loop and again and
  49. 2:28again some finish their life by diving
  50. 2:31straight into the
  51. 2:33Sun and others swing around the Sun
  52. 2:36never to return so many different
  53. 2:40paths let me now tell you a fascinating
  54. 2:43story about comets and an amazing
  55. 2:45robotic spacecraft called Rosetta
  56. 2:48Rosetta's story began in 2004 when a
  57. 2:51rocket blasted off from Earth carrying
  58. 2:53it into space it was built by the
  59. 2:56European Space Agency helped by many
  60. 2:59space partners around the
  61. 3:02world Rosetta spent the next 10 years
  62. 3:05traveling in space to get to a comet C
  63. 3:0867p Chum of
  64. 3:11gameno and guess what in
  65. 3:152014 it got there Rosetta is able to fly
  66. 3:19near the comet as it gets closer to the
  67. 3:22Sun it can take pitches measure the size
  68. 3:25of the Comet and do a lot of
  69. 3:27experiments Rosetto is quite quite big
  70. 3:30with its solar panels open it is as high
  71. 3:33as a sstory building and it is also
  72. 3:36carrying a robotic Lander called filet
  73. 3:39that is able to land on a comet filet is
  74. 3:42about the size of a washing machine
  75. 3:45landing on a comet is tricky if Fila did
  76. 3:48not have harpoons and screws in its feet
  77. 3:50to Anchor it to the surface it could
  78. 3:53just bounce off the comet back into
  79. 3:56space no spacecraft has ever flown
  80. 3:59alongside inside a comet and landed on
  81. 4:01it before that's why Rosetta is so
  82. 4:03special the filet Lander can drill into
  83. 4:06the surface of the comet look and sniff
  84. 4:09around Rosetta and filet working
  85. 4:11together are trying to understand what
  86. 4:13comets are made of all this information
  87. 4:16is stored on a computer on board rosesa
  88. 4:19and a powerful radio antenna sends it to
  89. 4:21scientists on Earth why is it so
  90. 4:24important to study
  91. 4:25comets it's because a long time ago when
  92. 4:28your planet was young
  93. 4:30long before the dinosaurs and even life
  94. 4:32and plants appeared many comets hit the
  95. 4:35earth a true bombardment believe me now
  96. 4:39my scientist friends on Earth believe
  97. 4:41that comets contain water and even the
  98. 4:43basic building blocks of life this is
  99. 4:46the material or molecules that make up
  100. 4:49animals and
  101. 4:50[Music]
  102. 4:51plants Rosetta is helping them find out
  103. 4:54if water in the oceans and the seeds of
  104. 4:57Life were carried to Earth by
  105. 5:00comets so we followed a comet and saw
  106. 5:03its tail form and grow as it got closer
  107. 5:05to the sun we also found out about an
  108. 5:08amazing space mission Rosetta the first
  109. 5:11spacecraft ever to fly alongside a comet
  110. 5:14and Phil the first to attempt to land on
  111. 5:17it soon we will be closer to knowing if
  112. 5:20comets brought water and helped start
  113. 5:22life on Earth how
  114. 5:26[Music]
  115. 5:28exciting
