  2. 0:12hello again it's me paxi
  3. 0:15today let's go and explore the moon now
  4. 0:18tell me do you think the moon was always
  5. 0:21there
  6. 0:22let's go back in time four and a half
  7. 0:25billion years and find out
  8. 0:29most scientists believe that the moon
  9. 0:31was born when a young planet crashed
  10. 0:33into the earth
  11. 0:35it was a big crash
  12. 0:38huge amounts of material were thrown
  13. 0:40into space and later came together to
  14. 0:43form the moon
  15. 0:45earth was a very different place back
  16. 0:47then let's now go back to 1969
  17. 0:52when the first man neil armstrong
  18. 0:55stepped on the moon
  19. 0:58it was a really special moment
  20. 1:02millions of people on earth watched it
  21. 1:05live on tv
  22. 1:08your grandparents probably remember
  23. 1:11humans returned to the moon's surface
  24. 1:13five more times they investigated and
  25. 1:16collected hundreds of kilograms of moon
  26. 1:19rocks and brought them back to earth
  27. 1:21when scientists examined these rocks
  28. 1:24they discovered that they are like
  29. 1:26earth's rocks that's why they thought
  30. 1:28the moon was also formed out of
  31. 1:30materials coming from earth during that
  32. 1:32early crash
  33. 1:33but the last time humans went to the
  34. 1:35moon was in 1972
  35. 1:38since then only man-made machines
  36. 1:41satellites and robots have visited the
  37. 1:43moon
  38. 1:44there have been many of them the good
  39. 1:47news is that today scientists and
  40. 1:49engineers are preparing to send back
  41. 1:51astronauts to the moon and stay for a
  42. 1:54long time
  43. 1:55look at all the experiments they are
  44. 1:58doing
  45. 1:59come with me to the moon to see what
  46. 2:01they need to prepare for future
  47. 2:03exploration
  48. 2:06wow look back at the beautiful blue
  49. 2:10earth
  50. 2:12living on the moon would be very
  51. 2:13different from earth when it is dark on
  52. 2:16the moon it can get colder than anywhere
  53. 2:19on earth but when the sun shines it gets
  54. 2:22hotter than boiling water i'd better go
  55. 2:25inside my spaceship ah
  56. 2:28that is much better in here i am
  57. 2:32protected from these extreme
  58. 2:34temperatures and from the sun's
  59. 2:36radiation
  60. 2:38to stay on the moon i need somewhere to
  61. 2:41live kind of like when you go camping on
  62. 2:43earth you have to build a shelter
  63. 2:46but a moon shelter would need to be more
  64. 2:48high-tech to protect from the
  65. 2:50temperatures and radiation of space
  66. 2:53maybe i could build one out of the lunar
  67. 2:55soil
  68. 2:57or i could dig a tunnel underground
  69. 3:02or i could even inflate one like a
  70. 3:04balloon
  71. 3:06i also need electricity but there is no
  72. 3:10oil or coal to burn or wind power to use
  73. 3:14that leaves the sun
  74. 3:16[Music]
  75. 3:17i could use solar power on the moon just
  76. 3:20like the houses on earth that have solar
  77. 3:22panels on the roof
  78. 3:24hmm
  79. 3:25i am more comfortable now
  80. 3:28but i am thirsty where could i get water
  81. 3:32did you know there is water ice on the
  82. 3:34moon but only at the poles in cold
  83. 3:37craters where the sun never shines come
  84. 3:40with me to a lunar pole and drill to get
  85. 3:43some
  86. 3:45water is very important we need it to
  87. 3:48drink
  88. 3:49i could also produce oxygen from it and
  89. 3:52that is really important because the
  90. 3:54moon does not have an atmosphere so
  91. 3:56there is no air to breathe i could even
  92. 4:00use water to produce few water launch
  93. 4:02rockets
  94. 4:04[Music]
  95. 4:05but i am also hungry
  96. 4:08there is no food here
  97. 4:11on earth i can grow fruit and vegetables
  98. 4:15maybe i can do the same on the moon
  99. 4:18i would need to build my own greenhouse
  100. 4:20and take good care of my plants
  101. 4:23look at that potatoes are growing
  102. 4:27now i have shelter power
  103. 4:30water air and food
  104. 4:33that is all i need to stay on the moon
  105. 4:35for a long time
  106. 4:40so
  107. 4:40today we learned that the moon was
  108. 4:44probably formed when a young planet
  109. 4:46crashed into the earth billions of years
  110. 4:48ago
  111. 4:50astronauts have landed on the surface of
  112. 4:52the moon six times
  113. 4:55currently only satellites and robots
  114. 4:58study the moon
  115. 4:59humans are preparing to go back to the
  116. 5:02moon
  117. 5:03to live on the moon we would need
  118. 5:06shelter
  119. 5:07power
  120. 5:08water
  121. 5:09air
  122. 5:10and food
