- 1:47you're interested in staying in a beach
- 1:50hut like this then the link for mermaid
- 1:53Beach Resort is in the video description
- 1:57there are a variety of rooms here at the
- 1:59resort one of the highlights being the
- 2:01sleeping boat room which When the tide
- 2:06is much closer to the resort later in
- 2:10the year it feels like you're sleeping
- 2:13on a boat as the name goes everything in
- 2:16the resort is made of recycled
- 2:22material there are all sorts of creative
- 2:26ways that things have been built here
- 2:29where whether it's
- 2:31bamboo
- 2:32or old
- 2:36rusted tin
- 2:42cans wood from abandoned ships in
- 2:46Chittagong and along the coast
- 2:49of Bangladesh on the Bay of
- 2:53Bengal
- 2:56hello and we're approaching the
- 2:59restaurant over
- 3:02here which has a lot of great food that
- 3:05I've been lucky enough to try since
- 3:07arriving this is where breakfast is
- 3:15served the longest swimming pool in
- 3:19Cox's Bazaar 300 M juice bar where you
- 3:24can chill and relax so stepping out
- 3:28from the resort behind me onto the
- 3:31longest uninterrupted seab beach in the
- 3:34world 120 km or
- 3:3775
- 3:39miles and the tide is very far out after
- 3:43this section of water the real tide is
- 3:48in the distance my GoPro probably
- 3:50doesn't even show it that
- 3:53much I have M by with
- 3:56me how are you finding it here yeah yeah
- 4:00enjoying both of us having some relaxing
- 4:03time together and the resort was quite
- 4:06nice
- 4:07also they're keeping us good and giving
- 4:11priority to everything what we
- 4:16need
- 4:18hello hello hello football game on the
- 4:20beach here yes
- 4:25yes just heading to check out some of
- 4:28these boats what do you call them in
- 4:31Bangladesh they're not Dows here they're
- 4:33called champan or the moonbo mhm and
- 4:38they're usually traditionally used by
- 4:40fishermen yeah they traditionally used
- 4:42by fishermen they can be used for
- 4:44different cases salam
- 4:47alaikum so here is a champan up close CH
- 4:52champan yes yes yeah your country
- 4:58England okay
- 5:00yeah
- 5:06yeah it is stuck here I guess
- 5:09until the tide
- 5:11comes as are the others on the beach
- 5:15further up with more groups of kids
- 5:18playing
- 5:21football the sun almost disappearing
- 5:24now Beneath The Horizon like a big red
- 5:28disc
- 5:30those men there locals just going
- 5:34for a
- 5:36stroll at the sunset
- 5:39hour tomorrow we will head further up
- 5:42the beach and check out some different
- 5:44areas away from the resort which is just
- 5:48over there and also head into Cox's
- 5:51Bazaar town
- 5:58too
- 6:08welcome back it is now the next day and
- 6:11we have made our way up the coastline to
- 6:14the center of Cox's bizaar Town we're
- 6:17going to check out the vibe and head to
- 6:20the main Beach public beach there are
- 6:23actually a
- 6:25few I think
- 6:27three but we'll go to the most one
- 6:32[Music]
- 6:39here souvenir shops selling clothes
- 6:42sandals swimming shorts and
- 6:48bags where many locals
- 6:50come for a break to be able to swim to
- 6:54go on
- 6:55holiday mosque there and this is the
- 6:59entrance to the
- 7:05beach snacks sweets kind of a mix of
- 7:08many things stepping on here to Shaga
- 7:13Beach
- 7:16and I am amazed at how many people
- 7:19you'll find along the coastline it's
- 7:22right in the middle of the day very hot
- 7:24at the moment but that doesn't stop
- 7:27people here they're not really afraid of
- 7:29the
- 7:30Sun different vendors and
- 7:37things guava so mermaid Beach Resort is
- 7:40that way about 20 minutes in a rick
- 7:43Shore
- 7:47South it's nice and Breezy the waves are
- 7:50looking good lots of locals enjoying
- 7:56[Music]
- 7:58themselves
- 8:03it's kind of like a festival type of
- 8:06atmosphere this man selling
- 8:11bananas lots of vendors passing by with
- 8:14different
- 8:17things and jet skis for hire lots of
- 8:21people riding them in the distance
- 8:25there although it is very sunny and a
- 8:28hot time of day
- 8:30and there are lots of people swimming
- 8:31most people
- 8:33are still wearing t-shirts and tops and
- 8:37long shorts
- 8:42even which is more of a cultural thing
- 8:46than anything
- 8:55else so regardless of where you're
- 8:57staying whether it is in mermaid
- 9:00another Resort in Co Bazar or even in
- 9:03the town checking out this beach or one
- 9:07of the main beaches next to the center
- 9:10of Fox's Bazaar is worth it just to
- 9:14people watch and get the idea of what
- 9:17the real beach experience is like for
- 9:20many locals here in Bangladesh it's not
- 9:24like mermaid Resort this is where the
- 9:27masses come to enjoy their time and ser
- 9:29your interested just to get a glimpse of
- 9:30that or even go for a swim yourself on
- 9:34this very
- 9:35large open part of the beach then you
- 9:38can but just bear in mind that you
- 9:40shouldn't really wear a bikini if you're
- 9:42a woman or be too exposed if you're a
- 9:44man
- 9:51[Music]
- 9:58either
- 10:18so a rickshaw Journey from Cox's bizaar
- 10:21town on the main public beach there and
- 10:25we are by this wooded area that I also
- 10:29visited 6 years
- 10:31ago a large span of open space here with
- 10:35less people showing the natural beauty
- 10:37of Cox's Bazaar once
- 10:40again there are some areas here to
- 10:44go
- 10:48paragliding immediately it gets quite
- 10:53hilly and Myanmar is over that way one
- 10:57thing I probably should touch upon
- 11:00is the rohinga refugee crisis because
- 11:03that's something that internationally
- 11:06Cox's bizar became more known for in the
- 11:10last decade one of the largest refugee
- 11:12camps in the world and many of the
- 11:14refugees I believe are on an island now
- 11:18and there's been quite a lot of tension
- 11:19between Bangladesh and Myanmar in recent
- 11:23years the Myanmar government are not
- 11:25receiving any of the ringas they're not
- 11:28really well welcome there anymore and
- 11:31the bangladeshis are struggling to know
- 11:34what to do with them without any
- 11:36international support it's difficult to
- 11:38relocate those vast numbers of people
- 11:42it's a bit of an issue that seems to
- 11:43have been kind of a stalemate for a
- 11:46while a
- 11:47non-starter bigger forces in the world
- 11:51are not intervening on this issue and so
- 11:54it's left to NGS to try and pick up the
- 11:57pieces for the moment and keep keep the
- 12:00people fed give them somewhere to live
- 12:02and the money has not been coming in as
- 12:05much as it was a few years ago because
- 12:08of other conflicts and things around the
- 12:10world such as Gaza and Ukraine and in
- 12:13the Congo and of course the list goes on
- 12:16but that doesn't mean the rindra crisis
- 12:18has gone away in fact it is still here
- 12:20and something I thought I should mention
- 12:22however it's safe to visit Cox's bizar
- 12:24you'll still see lots of people coming
- 12:26on their holidays locals and some
- 12:28International tourist too staying at the
- 12:31resorts so you can still come here it's
- 12:34still
- 12:35[Music]
- 12:43safe so now back here at mermaid Beach
- 12:46Resort and look at this view in front of
- 12:48me
- 12:50here the boat and the sunset right
- 12:57there this is the scene
- 13:00the tide far out now further down the
- 13:03beach
- 13:09here in
- 13:11Paradise here are the other rooms as I
- 13:13said before connected
- 13:15to the private
- 13:18pool the nice cold water here and this
- 13:22may well be an appropriate place to
- 13:25finish this
- 13:27video and the link for mermaid Beach
- 13:30Resort is in the video description if
- 13:33you're interested in staying here for a
- 13:35couple of days to cap off your
- 13:38Bangladesh trip if you
- 13:40make a visit here
