7. 0:13officially been charged with the 2011
8. 0:15murder of her friend betsy faria
9. 0:17it was hop who helped put betsy's
10. 0:19husband wrongfully behind bars
11. 0:22good evening i'm mike bush and i'm anne
12. 0:24allred now a new effort by a different
13. 0:26prosecutor
14. 0:27and a newly elected sheriff are going
15. 0:29after the people who botched the case to
16. 0:31begin with

22. 0:41hop is facing murder one charges and the
23. 0:43prosecutor is asking for the death
24. 0:45penalty
25. 0:46but more charges could come for former
26. 0:48law enforcement prosecutors and
27. 0:50even witnesses this case
28. 0:53struck very deep to our souls and our
29. 0:56conscience with a level of depravity
30. 0:59not regularly seen this murder case has
31. 1:02new life and pam hop has a new murder
32. 1:04charge
33. 1:04nearly a decade in the making for the
34. 1:06death of her friend
35. 1:08betsy faria we have a person who
36. 1:11not only murdered her friend
37. 1:14then mutilated the body staged the scene
38. 1:18testified against an innocent man and
39. 1:20then once he was acquitted
40. 1:22went and murdered someone in saint
41. 1:24charles county to prevent herself from
42. 1:26being considered as a suspect and i
43. 1:28if if i can't pick a case that was more
44. 1:31depraved than that
45. 1:32this is it lincoln county prosecutor
46. 1:34michael wood says it's clear
47. 1:36pam killed for insurance money and now
48. 1:38he's going after the investigators who
49. 1:40failed to see it
50. 1:42this is one of the poorest examples of
51. 1:43investigative work
52. 1:45that i as well as my team have ever
53. 1:47encountered
54. 1:48for that to be publicly said means a
55. 1:50whole lot to me
56. 1:51russ faria served years in prison for
57. 1:54his late wife's murder he was exonerated
58. 1:56and received a settlement from the
59. 1:57county
60. 1:58i've constantly said that they did a
61. 2:00very poor investigation in fact i've
62. 2:02compared them to the three stooges and
63. 2:03at one time to a bunch of incompetent
64. 2:05monkeys prosecutor woods says this was
65. 2:07confirmation bias in the purest form
66. 2:10meaning
67. 2:10once law enforcement and prosecutors
68. 2:12made up their minds about what happened
69. 2:14they ignored evidence and even twisted
70. 2:16it to save their own
71. 2:17egos most concerning however
72. 2:20is that information came to my attention

75. 2:27that witnesses were asked to lie on the
76. 2:29stand by the prosecutor in that case
77. 2:32in many ways it's the beginning of the

79. 2:36have wanted for a very long time i never
80. 2:39imagined we'd be standing here today
81. 2:4110 years ago well pamhup is already
82. 2:45serving
83. 2:45a life sentence for another murder to
84. 2:47cover up betsy's murder
85. 2:49she could though make her first court
86. 2:51appearance as early as friday

88. 2:54on the stand could face felony perjury
89. 2:56charges
90. 2:57and in this new trial russ faria says
91. 3:00he'll take the stand
