- 0:04today we begin the best week in the
- 0:07whole lurgical
- 0:09year centuries ago it was called the
- 0:12great week but nowadays week Catholics
- 0:15call it holy
- 0:17week we follow Jesus's every step of the
- 0:21way we start with his triumphant entry
- 0:24into Jerusalem where he was welcomed he
- 0:27was applauded and acclaimed by the the
- 0:30crowds of by his
- 0:32followers on Thursday we will join him
- 0:35at the table and receive the gift of
- 0:37himself in the bread and
- 0:40wine after dining with him we will walk
- 0:43with him along the path that leads from
- 0:45the upper room to the garden of
- 0:48olives there we will see him falling to
- 0:51the ground in fear and anxiety about the
- 0:55cruel death that awaits
- 0:58him on Friday Friday we will gather and
- 1:01we will find ourselves standing beside
- 1:05him with his mother at the foot of the
- 1:07cross and feeling compassion for him in
- 1:11both his physical Agony and his mental
- 1:16torment we will be feeling especially
- 1:19some of his sense of being alone and
- 1:21abandoned betrayed and deserted not only
- 1:25by his friends and his
- 1:28followers but even by God
- 1:32himself on Saturday we will be
- 1:35quiet silent around his
- 1:39tomb as we remember the Injustice the
- 1:42hostility and the cruelty of all those
- 1:45evil men who murdered
- 1:48him then late in the evening on Saturday
- 1:51we will move from the darkness of our
- 1:53journey to the place of that brightly
- 1:56burning
- 1:58fire there we will join the procession
- 2:01of the great Easter candle representing
- 2:04the Risen Christ as he lights up the
- 2:07darkness in our church and in our
- 2:11lives there and then the pain and
- 2:13sadness of our journey with Jesus to
- 2:17Calvary this all will give way to
- 2:21hope will give way to Joy a joy that
- 2:24comes from our awareness of
- 2:26understanding of all that has taken
- 2:28place
- 2:30Jesus Christ is not dead and gone but he
- 2:34is alive strong and powerful alive in
- 2:38himself and alive in every one of
- 2:42us I'll keep it short today and close
- 2:45with a little
- 2:46thought I invite you that every time you
- 2:49meditate on the sorrowful mysteries of
- 2:51the Rosary every time you PR pray the
- 2:54Stations of the Cross or you recite the
- 2:56Chaplet of the Divine Mercy or even put
- 2:59a crucifix around your
- 3:02neck do these things with great
- 3:07gratitude mindful of the price Jesus
- 3:10Paid and how he perfectly accomplished
- 3:13your Eternal
- 3:15Redemption for that purpose and that
- 3:18purpose alone is for which he
- 3:21came so my brothers and sisters I invite
- 3:23you as we enter into Holy Week to take
- 3:26part into uh the different lurgical
- 3:28celebrations this week I pray you have a
- 3:33blessed Holy Week
- 3:53amen
