- 1:35sponsored by nobody. Um, no sponsors
- 1:38yet, but this is only episode three, so
- 1:40maybe they are coming. We don't know.
- 1:42We'll find out. But for now, let's dive
- 1:45into this painting and talk about New
- 1:47Year's resolutions.
- 1:55All right, and welcome to Painting
- 1:56Therapy episode 3. I'm just going to
- 1:59start doing a painting here. We're going
- 2:00to talk about a few things. Christmas
- 2:03just ended. Uh holiday season's coming
- 2:05to a close and New Year's is coming up.
- 2:08So, you know what that means? That means
- 2:10a lot of people are going to be doing
- 2:13resolutions
- 2:15uh and trying to
- 2:18work on things about themselves or um
- 2:22make certain goals and all of that. So
- 2:25episode today, what I'm going to talk
- 2:27about is uh resolutions and if I have
- 2:31any and uh maybe some past resolutions
- 2:34that I've had uh whether I've completed
- 2:36them or not. That's one of the things
- 2:38that's interesting about um doing
- 2:41resolutions is that a lot of times sadly
- 2:45I mean myself included not uh no
- 2:48judgment of course but sadly we usually
- 2:53come up with some ideas you know uh we
- 2:55want to
- 2:57change some certain things or set
- 2:59certain goals and I think I read the
- 3:02other day and I'll I'll look this up and
- 3:04confirm but I think they said 88 88% of
- 3:08all New Year's resolutions fail. Uh
- 3:11people give up on them at a certain
- 3:13point. So it's great to create
- 3:17resolutions and goals. I think the new
- 3:19year always kind of gives us that
- 3:20motivation because it's the new year
- 3:23just signifies so much like it's the
- 3:25start of something new. It's the end of
- 3:28the old year and like oh have you had a
- 3:30bad year? It's like ah that year is
- 3:31finally over and now I can uh I can
- 3:34change some things about myself or I can
- 3:37work on things or set um a certain goal
- 3:40on like financial or health or whatever.
- 3:44Um, you know, resolutions are are are
- 3:48good in that aspect because it kind of
- 3:50gives us this good mental energy where
- 3:53we're like you have this sudden boost of
- 3:56motivation like I really want to change
- 3:59some things this year or work on some
- 4:00things this year. So, it's good cuz like
- 4:02I I think it's you know life can get
- 4:05mundane in a way because you know
- 4:08Groundhog's Day we do the same things
- 4:10like routine over and over which is
- 4:11really good. It's good to have routine.
- 4:13And I think consistency grounds us and
- 4:15keeps us sane but at the same time it
- 4:20gets boring too. So you know it's uh
- 4:23it's a double-edged sword. Um
- 4:25consistency and routine can become
- 4:28boring
- 4:30and then um we kind of get stuck in a
- 4:32rut and maybe we
- 4:36can't really commit to some of these new
- 4:39ideas that we have that we want to do.
- 4:41If painting is one of your New Year's
- 4:43resolutions, you know, I can help you
- 4:44out there. I have online painting
- 4:46lessons. You can check those out uh at
- 4:49my website, timger.com,
- 4:51and have hundreds of painting lessons.
- 4:53So, if painting is one of your New
- 4:56Year's resolutions,
- 4:58um you know, I hear that one a lot
- 5:00actually. Obviously, I'm a I teach
- 5:02people how to paint. So, uh, that's
- 5:05something I definitely hear quite often
- 5:08is, uh, this is the year that I'm going
- 5:10to start committing myself to painting.
- 5:13And, um, like I said, I can definitely
- 5:15help you out. You know, just watching
- 5:17here will probably help you, too. Like,
- 5:18maybe inspire you a little bit to pick
- 5:20up the brush a little bit more.
- 5:23So before I get into kind of the um
- 5:28resolution talk, I think, you know,
- 5:31that's a good conversation to have,
- 5:33especially if you're thinking, what am I
- 5:36going to do new this year? Um for
- 5:38myself, I just wanted to talk about uh
- 5:41the holidays. Uh for me, the holidays
- 5:44have been kind of like this thing that's
- 5:47been like kind of awful. like it's uh
- 5:52both my parents have passed away and
- 5:54really close together. Um if you don't
- 5:57know my story, I'll just recap really
- 5:59quick. Uh my mom passed away a few years
- 6:03ago to a stroke and uh she was
- 6:08relatively healthy. Uh you know, never
- 6:11really had any problems too much her
- 6:13whole life and uh just died suddenly.
- 6:17And uh that was pretty hard. I was super
- 6:19close to my mom and she was really big
- 6:22on Christmas. So,
- 6:25uh, she, you know, she had the little
- 6:27Christmas village that she'd put out
- 6:29every year and, um, it was, you know,
- 6:32the Christmas tree would go right up
- 6:34after Thanksgiving
- 6:36and, you know, Thanksgiving was always a
- 6:37big deal. We'd always have a really big
- 6:39family get together and uh go up to
- 6:43either my grandmother's house or one of
- 6:45my aunt's houses and uh we would all all
- 6:49get together on my mom's side of the
- 6:51family. We'd all get together, have
- 6:54Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun, lots
- 6:56of food and stuff like that. So, it was
- 6:57always uh all of this holiday uh time
- 7:00was always really big for me. And so for
- 7:03my mom, it was, you know, it was one of
- 7:05the best times of the year to celebrate
- 7:07celebrate Christmas and Thanksgiving and
- 7:10all New Year's, all that. Um, so she
- 7:12passed away and obviously Christmas
- 7:16after that was kind of rough. You know,
- 7:18both of my grandparents had passed away,
- 7:19so traditions were already starting to
- 7:21change, but she passed away at a young
- 7:23age um just a couple years ago. And
- 7:29uh, so that was really hard. So then,
- 7:30you know, Christmas started being really
- 7:33different after that. For the first few
- 7:35years, I didn't even honestly care about
- 7:38Christmas at all because um you know, it
- 7:41was just a lot of hard memories because
- 7:44it was such an important holiday to my
- 7:46mom and she made it super fun for all of
- 7:48us there. She had four kids so there's
- 7:50four of us and we all felt the same way.
- 7:53She like went above and beyond making
- 7:55Christmas a super special fun time.
- 7:59So anyway, uh yeah, so Christmas was
- 8:02just not like this super
- 8:05um fun thing to do anymore after she
- 8:08passed away. And then 2 years after my
- 8:12mom died, uh my dad also died of stroke
- 8:16randomly. And um so then it like became
- 8:21so this is about four years total now. I
- 8:23think my mom died four years ago now. Uh
- 8:25my dad um was almost literally two years
- 8:29right after. And so this is like
- 8:34probably the I think second Christmas
- 8:36I've had without either one of them.
- 8:39And uh yeah, so I've always just been
- 8:42like, "Yeah, I don't really care about
- 8:45Christmas too much." And I didn't really
- 8:46have a whole lot to look forward to
- 8:49because all of those traditions were
- 8:51gone.
- 8:53Um, but this year, uh, with my
- 8:56girlfriend's family, we had a lot of
- 8:58fun. Um, it was probably the best
- 9:00Christmas I've had, you know, since my
- 9:03parents have passed away. So, uh, yeah,
- 9:06I really enjoyed Christmas this year. It
- 9:08was it was really fun to hang out with
- 9:10her family and we went bowling. Uh, we
- 9:13had drinks, we had food and stuff and,
- 9:17uh, I just had a good time. Um, I had a
- 9:21lot of we had a lot of laughs and stuff
- 9:23like that. So, uh, yeah, my Christmas
- 9:25was pretty good this year and, uh, I
- 9:28always just think every year it's going
- 9:29to be awful. So, I'm pretty happy that
- 9:31this year was much better. And I hope
- 9:34for all of you out there, um, I hope you
- 9:37guys had a good Christmas as well. And
- 9:40if you don't celebrate Christmas, um,
- 9:42you know, if it's Hanukkah or anything
- 9:44else, hope you had a good holiday
- 9:46season. Um, but now, like I said, the
- 9:50whole subject of this video is
- 9:54now it's time to start a new year
- 9:58and
- 10:01time to
- 10:03create some goals. I hate calling it
- 10:05resolutions. Like, I think resolution
- 10:08sounds like you're resolving something
- 10:10like an issue. Um, and I don't think,
- 10:14you know, we all have hang-ups in life
- 10:17and like times of rough patches and
- 10:20stuff like that. Um, but resolution is
- 10:24kind of an interesting word for um,
- 10:28setting goals.
- 10:30Anyway, it is called resolution, so
- 10:32we'll stick with that for now. But, um,
- 10:36yeah, for myself, um, I'll kind of get
- 10:38into that a little bit later, but I'm
- 10:39curious
- 10:41at this point in the video, I'm curious
- 10:44to hear if
- 10:47all of you have some resolutions that
- 10:51you're thinking of tackling. Um, like I
- 10:55said, 88% of resolutions,
- 10:58according to one study, um, people
- 11:03go back out on. Usually it'll stick with
- 11:05them for about a month and then after
- 11:09that just they kind of fade away, which
- 11:13I get it. You know, like we said, life
- 11:15is kind of like Groundhog's Day
- 11:16sometimes and you get into these um ruts
- 11:21or
- 11:23spells where you're, you know,
- 11:26kind of in this routine over and over
- 11:28and over again. And if that resolution
- 11:31really isn't part of that routine, then
- 11:34it will just kind of go by the wayside.
- 11:37All right, so not to segue out of that,
- 11:39but I wanted to give a shout out to Joey
- 11:43Bird from South Carolina. Uh Joey
- 11:46purchased the last painting I did on the
- 11:50painting therapy podcast, painting
- 11:52painting podcast. And um I sell I'm
- 11:56going to start selling well I am selling
- 11:59the paintings that I do um at a really
- 12:01low price um for
- 12:04the podcast to kind of help support the
- 12:07podcast. I want to try to um expand
- 12:11this. This is a big goal of mine. I'll
- 12:12talk about a little bit more especially
- 12:13when it comes to the resolution stuff,
- 12:16but uh one of my big goals is doing one
- 12:18of these podcasts every single week. And
- 12:23um so I'm selling the paintings that I
- 12:25do in the podcast. You can find the link
- 12:27down below and that money is going to go
- 12:31towards helping me buy new equipment,
- 12:34microphones, uh cameras. Hopefully I can
- 12:37actually get out of this closet studio
- 12:39at some point. Maybe someday I'll have
- 12:41some sponsors for this podcast and I can
- 12:45build uh my own studio. I got some big
- 12:48goals with this and I think I'm really
- 12:51excited about it. I think this will be
- 12:53really popular. I'm manifesting that it
- 12:55is and um I think it's fun to talk about
- 13:00certain subjects and watch somebody
- 13:02paint. I think watching somebody paint
- 13:03is therapeutic. And not only that, we
- 13:06get to talk about different things in
- 13:08life. some fun stuff, some maybe some
- 13:12sad stuff, maybe some tough things to
- 13:15talk about, but um all good because
- 13:18talking I've learned especially through
- 13:21like how you heard the story about my
- 13:22parents, talking through things is very
- 13:25difficult uh but I think important and I
- 13:29was very resistant to talking about
- 13:31stuff. I don't know. I think it's cuz
- 13:32it's it's kind of painful to talk about
- 13:34stuff.
- 13:36Uh but like I said, I'm not a therapist.
- 13:38I'm just an artist, but talking and is
- 13:42its own form of therapy. And then just,
- 13:44you know, watching somebody paint is
- 13:45kind of therapeutic as well. So, thanks
- 13:48again, Joey, uh, from South Carolina.
- 13:51And, uh, if you want to get this
- 13:53painting, which you obviously don't see
- 13:55the end of it yet, but, uh, check out
- 13:57the link below in the description and
- 13:59you can help support the podcast as
- 14:02well. Also, if you want to check out my
- 14:03online painting lessons at timggon.com
- 14:06or um you know, you can if you're a
- 14:09painter and uh painting is one of your
- 14:11resolutions and you want some nice paint
- 14:13brushes, check out my custom paint
- 14:16brushes. They're all handmade by
- 14:18Rosemary Brush Company out of the UK. Uh
- 14:20the best brushes you'll probably be able
- 14:22to find. So, check those out, too.
- 14:30So anyway, let's get back to
- 14:34the idea of resolutions.
- 14:39I just kind of mentioned a little bit of
- 14:41mine, but what I want to hear from you
- 14:43in the comments is some of your goals,
- 14:46some of your resolutions, or if you
- 14:49don't if you don't like resolutions and
- 14:52you think it's a dumb idea or um you
- 14:56know, anything like that. Like, let me
- 14:58know in the comments how you feel uh
- 15:01about resolutions or if you have one and
- 15:04uh we'll talk about it next time. I'll
- 15:05pick some of the comments next time and
- 15:08we'll talk about those resolutions and
- 15:11uh maybe um you know other people can
- 15:14give their opinions as well. Maybe
- 15:15they've also done those resolutions and
- 15:18uh we can have a nice discussion about
- 15:21it. So, let me know in the comments down
- 15:24below
- 15:29and then we'll talk about your
- 15:30resolutions next time on the next
- 15:34painting podcast.
- 15:54All right. So, if I were to guess on
- 15:57what the top five
- 16:02New Year's resolutions are, I don't
- 16:04know. I haven't looked this one up yet.
- 16:06But what I'm going to do is I'm going to
- 16:07guess what I think the top five are, and
- 16:11then I'm gonna look it up and let you
- 16:14guys know what they actually are based
- 16:16on whatever random survey that I find.
- 16:19Um, I'll probably just ask Mr. Good old
- 16:23Chat GBT, Mr. Know-it-All,
- 16:27um, what the top five are. So my opinion
- 16:33um I think the the easiest one would be
- 16:38I think most people's first resolution
- 16:41is uh they're going to change their
- 16:46exercise habits and they're going to
- 16:48exercise in 2026. I think that's going
- 16:51to be I think that's going to be the
- 16:52number one resolution. I think that's
- 16:55the one I always hear the most and um I
- 16:59think everybody knows that you know
- 17:02being healthy is important not only for
- 17:04your body but for your mind and I think
- 17:08that's why it's usually I don't know
- 17:11this but my guess is that's um that's
- 17:14why I would think it's number one uh
- 17:16just because you know it's health is
- 17:19important u also it's it's hard to do
- 17:22it's like you got to find the time to
- 17:25exercise. And I'll give you my opinions
- 17:28after. I'm a big exercise guy. I've been
- 17:31doing CrossFit for um like 8 years now.
- 17:35So, I'm really obsessed with exercise.
- 17:38So, I'd say in a way um exercise is
- 17:42really easy for me, but I built it into
- 17:44a habit. And I think that's what
- 17:45everybody wants to do is kind of
- 17:48start this resolution and hope that it
- 17:50just turns into this habit that they can
- 17:53um continue to do because let's be
- 17:56honest, exercising when you first start
- 17:58out is not fun and nobody really wants
- 18:02to do it. You got to find time for it.
- 18:04Sometimes that means you got to get up
- 18:06early.
- 18:08um you got to figure it out with other
- 18:11people because you know if you're in a
- 18:13relationship or if you have kids or um
- 18:17whatever you have to work around other
- 18:19people's schedules to make it work. So
- 18:21there's a lot of obstacles when it comes
- 18:23to um allowing exercise to be part of
- 18:27your life. It's definitely a super super
- 18:30important thing that I think everybody
- 18:32should do their absolute best to try to
- 18:36make time for. Um, and like I said, I
- 18:39know it's I know it's not super easy.
- 18:41Uh, I was a coach at a CrossFit gym for
- 18:43a while. Uh, I know how hard it can be
- 18:47for people to stay consistent, not only
- 18:49because of obstacles, but you know, like
- 18:50I said in the beginning, it's not always
- 18:53the most fun thing in the world to do.
- 18:56So especially starting out. My opinion
- 18:58though is that once it becomes a habit
- 19:02and you start liking it, it becomes
- 19:06super
- 19:07easy to commit to because it just makes
- 19:10you feel so good. It's just the problem
- 19:12is in the beginning it doesn't really
- 19:15feel that good. So um yeah, it's like a
- 19:19a tough one to really commit to if we're
- 19:24being honest. And uh I completely get
- 19:26it. So that's my guess for number one is
- 19:29that exercise
- 19:32is going to be the number one. And then
- 19:34closely related to that uh because my
- 19:37guess is that you know these things are
- 19:39somewhat separate is everybody um or the
- 19:43next resolution is going to be
- 19:46eating healthier. Um which for me that
- 19:50is one of my goals for 2026 is to eat
- 19:54healthy. I've got the exercise part
- 19:55down. I love exercising. It makes me
- 19:58feel super good. Um, I grew up in doing
- 20:02a lot of athletics. Uh, basketball,
- 20:04baseball, golf, soccer, whatever. You
- 20:06name it, I played it. And, uh, exercise
- 20:09is kind of kind of reminds me of doing
- 20:13those things. And I don't I don't really
- 20:16play basketball much anymore. I'm
- 20:17getting a little bit older. Uh, I'd like
- 20:18to play a little bit more. It's not
- 20:20really a resolution, but I'd like to
- 20:21incorporate that a little bit more in my
- 20:23life. Again, u I play golf, but I ride
- 20:26in a golf cart. So, um you know, it's
- 20:30it's not a massive amount of exercise.
- 20:32It is. Um but I do, you know, I I I do
- 20:36still play sports a little bit, but
- 20:38doing CrossFit and the gym is kind of
- 20:40more of almost like a competitive thing
- 20:42with myself, and it gives me that little
- 20:45thing that I miss from when I was
- 20:46younger.
- 20:52So anyway, uh diet I believe is
- 20:56something that people will will try to
- 20:59do um even if they're not exercising a
- 21:03lot because um you know dieting in
- 21:06general like eating healthy I should
- 21:08say. It's not really necessarily like
- 21:10trying to lose weight and whatever, but
- 21:12I'm going to put that as um as part of
- 21:15number two, and that's, you know, losing
- 21:17weight and dieting. And I think you can
- 21:19you can lose weight by just by just
- 21:22eating better. Um and you can be
- 21:24healthier by just eating better. And so
- 21:26I think that's going to be number two.
- 21:29Uh, I find that eating healthy because I
- 21:32am a sugar addict and I love to eat bad
- 21:38food. That's it's my favorite. So, uh,
- 21:42like over Christmas, I ate a ton of bad
- 21:45food. I ate McDonald's. Uh, I ate um
- 21:50snacks, candy bars, you name it. Cuz
- 21:53like it's more available during the
- 21:55holiday times. And uh I drank alcohol. I
- 21:59don't really drink that much in general.
- 22:01Um I I don't because I mean I I just
- 22:05think it affects my sleep and my health.
- 22:08So I don't I don't even like have casual
- 22:11drinks very often, but over Christmas I
- 22:13had uh more than I normally would. So uh
- 22:17so eating bad, having drinks, doing all
- 22:20that has made me feel like I'm really I
- 22:24need to eat better. I need to be
- 22:26healthier. And I think that's a lot of
- 22:28the reasons why resolutions come up is
- 22:29because over Christmas time we're doing
- 22:32so bad. We're eating such we're eating a
- 22:35lot of good food, too, but we're eating
- 22:36a lot of snacks and like we give
- 22:38ourselves the excuses, oh, it's just
- 22:40Christmas time. I can do whatever I
- 22:42want. So, um I think that's when stuff
- 22:47gets uh you know, we kind of get into
- 22:50these moments where we're like, "Holy, I
- 22:52am doing really bad right now, so I need
- 22:54to like smarten up." And that's where
- 22:56some of those resolutions come from is
- 22:58just really bad eating during Christmas
- 23:00time, which is for me. I got to I got to
- 23:03eat better. I I in general, I um I
- 23:07really want snacks. So, uh, it's just
- 23:10something lifestyle-wise for me that I
- 23:12definitely need to improve on. I've done
- 23:14good with it a few times in my life, but
- 23:16I always like revert back to eating, uh,
- 23:19a little bit of that. And I always give
- 23:20myself the excuse that I exercise so
- 23:22much that I can get away with it, but
- 23:24that's not really true. So, um, I
- 23:27definitely want to work on that myself.
- 23:30So, that's number two. My guess number
- 23:32two is, uh, eating healthy and losing
- 23:34weight. I got to think about number
- 23:37three. Uh, I think this is those are the
- 23:40obvious ones. Um, I think I think number
- 23:44three, and this is obviously just a
- 23:47guess. We'll look it up after, but I
- 23:50think number three might be something
- 23:52like um money goals. So, I want to save
- 23:56a certain amount of money uh or put a
- 23:59certain amount of money away for the
- 24:02year or contribute to, you know, my 401k
- 24:05more or my IRA or whatever you have. Um
- 24:08I think that's I think that's going to
- 24:10be number three are money goals. And I
- 24:12think that's something we all especially
- 24:14right now I think the economy is a
- 24:16little bit unpredictable. It's always
- 24:18kind of unpredictable in a way if you
- 24:20think about it. like everybody every
- 24:22government administration always says
- 24:23that their economy is the best economy
- 24:25ever and then all the the people
- 24:27disagree and say oh what are you guys
- 24:29talking about have you gone to the
- 24:31grocery store lately or you know have
- 24:33you paid rent lately so I think it's
- 24:36kind of funny that every
- 24:38presidential administration says oh yeah
- 24:41we've had the best economy ever and I
- 24:44think all the people are like what are
- 24:45you talking about so yeah money goals
- 24:47would be my guess for number
- 24:50Okay, before I continue with my guesses
- 24:53on
- 24:57what the top five New Year's resolutions
- 25:00are going to be. Um, put your five
- 25:03guesses down below in the comments and
- 25:04no cheating, no going ahead in the
- 25:06video, finding out the answer, and then
- 25:09getting them all perfectly correct. Uh
- 25:13yeah, enter them now down in the
- 25:14comments and we'll see how close all of
- 25:17us are in those top five New Year's
- 25:20resolutions. So the fourth one that's
- 25:23going to be quite a bit harder, I think.
- 25:26Uh let me think here for a second. What
- 25:29could be
- 25:31number four? Thinking also gives me an
- 25:34excuse to concentrate on my painting a
- 25:36little bit more.
- 25:38Um let me think. Number four, what would
- 25:42be?
- 25:43So, we did diet,
- 25:45exercise, money. What other big things?
- 25:49Okay, I'm going to say this is a good
- 25:52one. I I hope everybody does this one.
- 25:54And I'm going to say
- 25:57number four, which probably should be
- 26:00number one, but number four would be
- 26:04spending more time with their family.
- 26:07So, making more time talking to family
- 26:11members that maybe they don't see very
- 26:14often or um maybe if you have somewhat
- 26:19of an estranged relationship with
- 26:22someone, you reestablish that
- 26:25relationship or work on it or um you
- 26:28know along those lines. So, that's going
- 26:31to be my guess for um number four. And I
- 26:35know personally I could do that myself.
- 26:38Um, uh, we want to get a little bit more
- 26:40personal here. Um, you know, Christmas
- 26:42for me was always,
- 26:46you know, was a little bit rough
- 26:48because, um, and try not to hold too
- 26:52much judgment as I talk about this, but,
- 26:54uh,
- 26:56you know, I was really close with all of
- 26:58my family, my whole life, and that
- 27:00included um, you know, um, aunts and
- 27:04cousins and, uh, everything like that,
- 27:07like everybody. And like I mentioned
- 27:09before, we used to have big family
- 27:12gettogethers uh with my grandmother and
- 27:15aunts and everything like that. And um
- 27:22um
- 27:24sorry concentrating. Uh yeah, so with my
- 27:28aunts and cousins and everything,
- 27:30everybody would get together at my
- 27:31grandmother's house or one of my aunts
- 27:33houses. And I have a lot of aunts and
- 27:35cousins. And uh after my mother died,
- 27:40they became really absent. Um and I've
- 27:44always been really confused about why.
- 27:47Um and if we want to be completely
- 27:49honest, which part of this podcast for
- 27:52me is about being really honest about
- 27:54stuff. And honestly, you know what? I
- 27:55don't even care about telling the whole
- 27:57world about it. But um my aunts didn't
- 28:00really like my dad. So, um, since they
- 28:04didn't like my dad, I think they then
- 28:06decided they maybe didn't want to have
- 28:08anything to do with
- 28:11his kids now that my mom was gone, which
- 28:13is weird. Um, and I never really
- 28:15understood it, but they don't really
- 28:16talk to me. They don't really reach out.
- 28:18Um, and I don't really understand why.
- 28:20And so that's been really hard for me
- 28:22for, you know, holidays is um, the fact
- 28:25that they don't ever reach out or say
- 28:28anything or check on me. when my dad
- 28:30died, they none of them said anything to
- 28:32me. So, uh, which was surprising to me
- 28:35to not have anybody really even care
- 28:38that my dad had died 2 years after my
- 28:40mom. So, that was like a huge kind of
- 28:43deal for me. And I've held a lot of
- 28:45animosity about it. Um, and I'm not
- 28:48really sure what to do about it to be
- 28:49honest. But, um, getting back to their
- 28:51New Year's resolutions, I think maybe
- 28:53fixing the strange relationships um, is
- 28:56going to be one of the things on the
- 28:57list. And I don't, it's hard because,
- 29:01you know, in my brain and in my heart,
- 29:04I'm like, I don't want to work on it.
- 29:06Like, why should I put the effort into
- 29:09like repairing anything? Um, and it's
- 29:12not one of my resolutions now, but I can
- 29:14relate to anybody who might have those
- 29:17resolutions of wanting to maybe uh work
- 29:20on things with their family because, you
- 29:22know, I would love to have my family
- 29:24back to how it used to be. Um, and I
- 29:27again, like I said, out of complete
- 29:29honesty, I don't really understand why
- 29:31it's not like that. Um, and I can't read
- 29:34other people's minds.
- 29:36And I just assume that I'm, you know,
- 29:38since I'm related to my dad who wasn't
- 29:41as well-liked amongst some of my family
- 29:44members. He was for a long time, but
- 29:46then I don't really know what happened.
- 29:47You know, um, my parents were always
- 29:49pretty private about that stuff, so I
- 29:51don't really know really. But um
- 29:55yeah, where's I going with that? Oh, so
- 29:57I don't I don't um
- 30:01yeah, I don't get it. So it's it's kind
- 30:02of hard to like want to put effort into
- 30:04something that you don't really
- 30:05understand. But uh so like I said, it's
- 30:08not really my resolution yet. Maybe it
- 30:10will be eventually. I'm not there right
- 30:12now. Uh, I am trying to, you know,
- 30:15forgive and forget, but it's really hard
- 30:16to like,
- 30:18you know, forgive and forget when I
- 30:20don't really understand what's going on,
- 30:22I guess. Um, yeah, maybe you can give me
- 30:24some advice down in the comments below
- 30:26what you think. Um, again, not trying to
- 30:28get too too personal, but like I said,
- 30:31my whole idea with this podcast is I'm
- 30:34going to be honest about stuff and I
- 30:36really don't care. So, um, not that I
- 30:39don't care in like a negative sense, but
- 30:41I don't care like I'll tell the world my
- 30:43story. Um, so yeah, that will be my
- 30:47guess for number four is spending more
- 30:49time with family and uh maybe resolving
- 30:53conflicts with other family members.
- 31:28Okay, so I looked up the top five
- 31:32resolutions for 2026 based on surveys
- 31:35and polls uh that chat GBT could find.
- 31:39And I did surprisingly well in my
- 31:41guesses. And I promise I didn't look
- 31:43before I made all of my guesses. Um, but
- 31:49so according to what I found out, the
- 31:52top five, number one is exercise more.
- 31:55So I had I got that one right, but I
- 31:57think that one was pretty easy. Um, I'd
- 32:00have to say, uh, number two was be
- 32:04happier. Um, that's a really good one. I
- 32:07like that. I think, uh, I'll adopt that
- 32:10one as well for myself. Um, everybody
- 32:13wants to be happier, so I think that's a
- 32:16great goal to have.
- 32:18Uh, I didn't have that one in my list,
- 32:20but um, definitely a good one. Like I
- 32:23said, number three was eat healthier,
- 32:28so I had that as my number two. Um, but
- 32:32again, pretty pretty good pretty good
- 32:35guess there on that one. And then number
- 32:39uh four was save money, which I think I
- 32:43had that one as my number four. Um so
- 32:46again,
- 32:48I I promise I didn't look it up first. I
- 32:50was I was actually pretty good at
- 32:52guessing uh the resolutions, I guess. Um
- 32:56and then number five was
- 32:59um use less social media. So, which
- 33:03again a great uh a great resolution. Uh
- 33:07looking at the top 10, um if I can
- 33:09remember right, I don't have it right in
- 33:11front of me, but um spending more time
- 33:14with family was on there. I think it was
- 33:15like number seven if I remember
- 33:18correctly. Uh quitting smoking and
- 33:20drinking was one of the ones on there.
- 33:24Um
- 33:26and that's all I can remember, I think.
- 33:29Um, but yeah, so my guess is not bad.
- 33:33I'm curious how you did. Um, hopefully
- 33:36you posted your uh responses before I
- 33:39revealed the actual results. Um, but
- 33:44yeah, so
- 33:46really good resolution ideas. I think I
- 33:48think uh we're always trying to improve
- 33:50ourselves as much as we can and um if we
- 33:56can be successful in doing one of those
- 33:59things, I think that's that's a pretty
- 34:01big deal. So those are the top five.
- 34:06And again, that's just based on um
- 34:09a compilation of what chat GPT found for
- 34:13surveys and um
- 34:18polls. So, I'm I'm pretty sure that's
- 34:21pretty accurate. I think if u we were to
- 34:24do a kind of a random
- 34:27survey ourselves, we'd probably run into
- 34:29those same answers. It's usually the
- 34:32same type of stuff. And I think it's
- 34:33just the fact is that those are the
- 34:36things that usually affect our lives the
- 34:39most. Um you know our health, our eating
- 34:42habits, uh money,
- 34:45um you know, happiness, how much we use
- 34:48social media. We use social media a lot.
- 34:51Uh I'm definitely on the bandwagon of
- 34:55reducing social media. I think that's a
- 34:58good thing about podcasts. I'm not just,
- 35:00you know, saying this out of my own
- 35:02benefit or anything like that,
- 35:03especially starting this podcast, but um
- 35:06it's podcasts are nice because it kind
- 35:09of brings back the old school radio
- 35:11format in a way like where you know we
- 35:14used to sit and listen to radio shows
- 35:17and uh longer format interviews and and
- 35:20things like that. And we really got away
- 35:22from it once social media came around
- 35:24and it was all about kind of more like
- 35:28quick hit like 7-second video um like
- 35:32vines and and things like that Tik Tok
- 35:35um and it's just
- 35:38you know it's I think it eroded our
- 35:41attention span. So with like podcast
- 35:43things where you can watch longer format
- 35:46I think is really great because um I
- 35:49think it's a good practice in
- 35:52expanding our attention span. I know I
- 35:56think that's a big problem. There's a
- 35:58big a lot of problems with the movie
- 36:01industry itself. I think
- 36:04you it's hard to spend a lot of time
- 36:08creating something because it costs so
- 36:11much um like in the movie industry and
- 36:17also people are releasing things left
- 36:20and right with with Netflix and all the
- 36:22streaming media. It's it's kind of like
- 36:25it's kind of like the same pressure I I
- 36:27assume anyway that I feel creating
- 36:31things and that's I need to stay
- 36:34relevant in people's minds or they're
- 36:36going to forget about me. So I think
- 36:38that's the same with movies and music
- 36:40and everything like that. So what
- 36:41happens is you see quicker productions
- 36:44of things and uh and the quality goes
- 36:48down and uh I that's a kind of a big
- 36:52goal for me this year is I don't I don't
- 36:54want to lose any quality in what I do.
- 36:57You know I don't want to sacrifice the
- 36:59quality just so I can get stuff out
- 37:02there. So
- 37:04that means I have to do a couple things.
- 37:06I can either
- 37:08put less out or I can work a lot harder
- 37:12and um spend more hours painting and
- 37:16things like that. And I think it's going
- 37:16to be a balance. I'm not really sure
- 37:19exactly how it will work out. Um but you
- 37:23know, I'm excited to, you know, really
- 37:26put the effort in. And so speaking of
- 37:28that, I want to talk a little bit maybe
- 37:30about my own resolutions and goals for
- 37:33the year. And uh one of them is eating
- 37:36healthy. Eating healthier. I talked
- 37:38about having kind of a sweet tooth, kind
- 37:41of a sugar addiction. And um that's, you
- 37:46know, it's I'm 45 now and you know, my
- 37:50dad passed away from a stroke. My mom
- 37:52passed away from a stroke. They were
- 37:54both healthy people. My dad exercised
- 37:56his whole life, but his biggest problem
- 37:58was he didn't he didn't eat super
- 38:01healthy and he had high blood pressure.
- 38:03Um,
- 38:05and I know I know that affects, you
- 38:07know, having a stroke and everything
- 38:09like if you get diabetes, you're more
- 38:10likely to have a stroke. Um, so that's
- 38:13something that I'm definitely going to
- 38:15work on is eating healthier in the new
- 38:18year. And I am going to try to
- 38:22keep kind of like a journal of
- 38:23everything. and um try to really focus
- 38:26on,
- 38:28you know, being accountable because it's
- 38:32hard cuz like some of those things
- 38:33you're only being accountable to
- 38:35yourself really. Um nobody can like
- 38:40force you to eat well or anything they
- 38:42can ask you to but um it's hard to you
- 38:46know stay accountable I guess in a way.
- 38:48So I'm going to try to like journal
- 38:51about it and stuff like that. So, that's
- 38:52one of the resolutions for me is just
- 38:55eating better.
- 38:57Um, you know, I don't eat terrible, but
- 39:00uh I also don't want to get diabetes and
- 39:04um go the same route as my parents
- 39:07basically. So, uh eating healthier. Uh
- 39:11but the big one for me is um you know, I
- 39:14started it last year that was like
- 39:16really kind of refocusing on my own
- 39:20artwork. And if you follow my social
- 39:23media, you'll see that I've done a lot
- 39:25of the timeline tree paintings. And
- 39:28that's something I really, really love
- 39:29doing. And it's my own signature thing.
- 39:34And I think that's big for an artist to
- 39:37have your own thing that somebody can
- 39:39look at your paintings and say, "Oh,
- 39:41that's so and so." And that was always
- 39:43important for me to come up with a
- 39:46concept or an idea artistically that
- 39:49defines me as um or defines some of my
- 39:52paintings. And so I'll definitely keep
- 39:55working on that. But another thing is um
- 39:59doing this painting podcast. I think
- 40:01this was an idea I've had for a long
- 40:04time. I've always wanted to kind of talk
- 40:06about things and and show my work at the
- 40:09same time. And I didn't really know how
- 40:10to do it. I thought, you know, YouTube's
- 40:12a good way to do it, but it takes a lot
- 40:15of effort to sit here and paint and
- 40:17talk. I'm not necessarily a huge talker
- 40:20myself. Um, I'm starting to feel a
- 40:23little more comfortable with it.
- 40:24Obviously, doing these videos is only
- 40:26the third video I've done, but I've done
- 40:28a lot of painting lesson videos. The
- 40:30difference is when you're doing a
- 40:32painting lesson video, you're describing
- 40:35what you're doing. So, um there's a lot
- 40:39less pressure on, you know, coming up
- 40:41with ideas. You can just, you know,
- 40:43reference what you're doing and you're
- 40:44trying to explain,
- 40:46um to your audience exactly what you're
- 40:49doing. It's a lot easier than trying to
- 40:51sit here and talk off the cuff,
- 40:53especially when you're not, uh a talker,
- 40:56per se.
- 40:58So, one of my goals is to do these
- 41:01podcasts
- 41:03every week for a full year and um just
- 41:09keep at it. And I don't really have
- 41:13expectations in any sort of
- 41:17monetary or um
- 41:22like I don't have, you know, I don't
- 41:24expect to get a certain amount of
- 41:26subscribers or anything like that. My
- 41:27goal simply is to just
- 41:30do this because I I enjoy painting. Um,
- 41:35I'm not great at talking in a sense of
- 41:38like I don't necessarily enjoy it, but
- 41:41it's something that I've always kind of
- 41:43admired of people is that they're good
- 41:45at talking. They're good at just like
- 41:48um speaking off the cuff. Um, being able
- 41:50to talk to anybody and I don't have that
- 41:52skill and I think it's something I need
- 41:54to practice and
- 41:56u this will definitely
- 41:58help me practice that.
- 42:02So,
- 42:04if I do
- 42:07one, at least one, I might do more, but
- 42:10if I do one podcast per week, then that
- 42:15means at the end of this year,
- 42:18if I stick with it, I should have at
- 42:20least 50 because 52 weeks in a year,
- 42:22I've already done this will be my third
- 42:25one, and it's not even the new year yet.
- 42:27So, uh, by the end of next year,
- 42:31I should at least have 50 because I'm
- 42:33thinking, you know, there will be
- 42:34probably weeks where, um, if you get
- 42:37sick or, uh, something comes up, there's
- 42:40probably going to be a few obstacles
- 42:42here and there that prevent
- 42:44complete perfect
- 42:47um, dedication.
- 42:49you're gonna you're gonna have I mean,
- 42:52life does happen, so it's it's hard to
- 42:55predict that, you know, I'll always have
- 42:58100% of time, but I can I think I can
- 43:00predict that I'll be able to do 50. So,
- 43:04that's the goal. So, a year from now,
- 43:09at the end of 2026,
- 43:11I'll be talking to you about hopefully
- 43:15filming my 50th episode. And the cool
- 43:18thing is if you're into like
- 43:20manifestation or visualization, which
- 43:23I'm going to talk about more in future
- 43:25podcasts, but I really do believe in
- 43:29that. Uh I myself I'm religious, so I
- 43:32believe in prayer as well. Um, but even
- 43:36if you're not necessarily
- 43:39religious, um, when it comes to a
- 43:45specific denomination or,
- 43:48um,
- 43:50type of religion.
- 43:54Uh, there's a lot of information that
- 43:56shows that, you know, positive
- 43:57visualization and manifestation is
- 44:00really effective in creating a better
- 44:03life. And um you know, I'm sure there's
- 44:05science behind it. I plan to do a little
- 44:07bit more research on it, especially when
- 44:10I do some podcasts about it, but I
- 44:13myself have always visualized things
- 44:17without even knowing it. Like I daydream
- 44:19a lot. And a lot of the times when I
- 44:22used to like visualize stuff and like
- 44:25hope that it happened, it really would.
- 44:27And it's very interesting that that
- 44:29actually does occur. And so I'm a pretty
- 44:32firm believer that visualization and
- 44:36manifestation do work.
- 44:40So when it came to this podcast, I kind
- 44:42of visualized it becoming like really
- 44:45popular and successful and all that. And
- 44:47it's not necessarily that it's
- 44:49important. I'm not like putting any sort
- 44:52of um pressure on it to be super
- 44:55popular. I just think it's a cool idea
- 44:57to have a podcast where somebody's
- 45:01painting and you can watch something and
- 45:03then if if you're busy doing something,
- 45:06it's one of those things you can kind of
- 45:08watch a little bit and then still listen
- 45:11and then come back and and see the
- 45:13progress of the painting, which I think
- 45:16is kind of kind of a fun idea.
- 45:22Me myself, when I picture it, I just
- 45:23picture it doing really well. So, um,
- 45:26we'll see. We'll see. You know, 50
- 45:28episodes in, who knows? Um, that's a lot
- 45:32of that's a lot of time and effort into
- 45:34something. And I think that's part of
- 45:37why a visualization can work sometimes
- 45:39is if as long as you put in the the time
- 45:42and the effort into what you're trying
- 45:45to accomplish.
- 45:51Then I have uh you know I have some
- 45:54exercise goals. I into CrossFit. I
- 45:57haven't really written them down yet,
- 45:59but um I have some like weightlifting
- 46:02goals and uh some business related goals
- 46:06that I plan on kind of writing down and
- 46:10and trying to visualize happen and all
- 46:13that. So, um, nothing too specific as of
- 46:17right now, uh, that I I'm going to share
- 46:20on here, but, um, my big ones are eating
- 46:24healthy and
- 46:26staying committed to, uh, creating this
- 46:29painting podcast.
- 46:35So, I appreciate all your support. You
- 46:36guys help me make it successful by
- 46:40sharing with your friends, even just
- 46:41commenting down below. um you know
- 46:44taking part in in the process and I
- 46:47really appreciate that. I really
- 46:49appreciate all the people who have
- 46:51supported my work over the years for
- 46:53sure. It's uh
- 46:55obviously you know you can still be an
- 46:58artist without support but it's a lot
- 47:00nicer when you have people supporting
- 47:02your work. It gives you motivation and
- 47:05it gives you
- 47:07more of a reason to kind of continue
- 47:09what you're doing when people are so
- 47:11supportive and um fortunate very
- 47:15fortunate to have uh great people who
- 47:18follow my work and who have always been
- 47:20really supportive. So that definitely
- 47:22gives me the motivation to continue
- 47:24doing this and also my own uh the stuff
- 47:28that like my timeline paintings and
- 47:31stuff like that stuff that I really
- 47:33enjoy doing and hope that I can maybe
- 47:36leave a mark on the world with
- 47:38something. Um I think there's always a
- 47:41little bit of a if I'm honest there's a
- 47:43little bit of a ego thing when it comes
- 47:45to being a creator. you don't want to
- 47:48create stuff and then nobody looks at it
- 47:50and nobody cares. It's still fulfilling
- 47:54to do it, but um it's a lot more
- 47:56fulfilling when you get feedback and
- 48:00support from people.
- 48:05So, thanks again everybody for being
- 48:08supportive.
- 48:12So, I think New Year's resolutions,
- 48:14again, just kind of recapping what we
- 48:17talked about for the day. And that's I
- 48:19think they're really really great
- 48:21because it's it it's interesting that we
- 48:24do it at the beginning of the year, but
- 48:25it makes a lot of sense just because it
- 48:27is that time of year where it's like,
- 48:29"All right, new year. I'm going to try
- 48:33again at, you know, because you almost
- 48:37like re recap your year at the end of
- 48:39the year. You're like, "All right, it's
- 48:41a new year. How did this year go?" And
- 48:44if you, you know, had planned on
- 48:48doing specific things and you didn't,
- 48:50they didn't come to fruition, you kind
- 48:53of gave up, it's it's almost like
- 48:55another shot. You get to try again. And
- 48:58I think that's the cool thing um about
- 49:01New Year's resolutions is it gives us
- 49:04that chance because it's on the
- 49:06calendar. It's it's the start of a new
- 49:07year. Um,
- 49:10and
- 49:12it's like, okay, I got another shot at
- 49:14trying to uh lose weight or eat healthy.
- 49:18And it's a fresh start, so there's not a
- 49:20lot of there's not as much baggage if
- 49:22it's like you start at the end of the
- 49:24year like, oh, well, I'll just wait till
- 49:26the new year cuz I messed up this year.
- 49:29and um you're still thinking about that
- 49:31previous year. But when it's the start
- 49:33of a new year, it's like, okay, I don't
- 49:35have any more baggage about the year
- 49:38because it's the new year and I get to
- 49:40start fresh. Um in reality, it's just
- 49:44another day and we should always be
- 49:47thinking about trying to improve on
- 49:49things whether it's a new year or the
- 49:51middle of the year or what, but there is
- 49:54that symbolic thing and I love
- 49:55symbolism. I use a lot of it in my
- 49:58paintings. A lot of times people miss
- 49:59it. Um, which I think is kind of even
- 50:02cool too when people miss the symbolism
- 50:03of some of the paintings I do. Um,
- 50:06because it's kind of like my own little
- 50:09secret when I when I see somebody say
- 50:12something about a painting or uh, you
- 50:14know, give their opinion. It's I kind of
- 50:17want to chime in. Like there's a part of
- 50:19me that wants to chime in and be like,
- 50:20"No, this is what this is what I meant
- 50:22by doing this in a painting." Um, or
- 50:24this is what the painting means to me.
- 50:27because painting is subjective. So, you
- 50:29know, you get to make whatever meaning
- 50:31you want when you look at a piece of
- 50:32art. That's what's cool about it. Um,
- 50:35but being the artist, sometimes you're
- 50:37just like, "No, it's not it's not what
- 50:39it means or that's not how I feel about
- 50:43uh a certain thing. It's you're missing
- 50:45the symbolism or you're missing, you
- 50:47know, what this color meant or what this
- 50:50type of thing meant within a painting."
- 50:52It's almost almost like my own little
- 50:53secret. So, I always resist and don't I
- 50:57don't chime in because I think it's more
- 50:59fun to just let everybody
- 51:02have their thoughts and feelings about a
- 51:04painting whether it's right or not. Um
- 51:08cuz I don't think I guess that's not the
- 51:09right way to say it. I
- 51:12It's It's not that it's not right. It's
- 51:13just it means something different for
- 51:15them. But the person who created it um
- 51:17if you're trying to think what they
- 51:19thought then it's that's wrong. If that
- 51:21makes sense.
- 51:26probably not. I don't always make sense.
- 51:28I uh I do my best, but you know,
- 51:32being an introverted introverted
- 51:35artist,
- 51:37uh sometimes I don't always come across
- 51:41as clear as I'd like. But this is again,
- 51:43this is what this podcast is all about.
- 51:45I'm working on it. And uh hopefully you
- 51:48guys all have things you want to work
- 51:50on. I'd be curious. Again, I hope you
- 51:52share it in the comments down below. Uh
- 51:55I'm excited to read what people think,
- 51:58you know, discussing some of the things
- 51:59that we talked about today. And uh
- 52:03yeah,
- 52:07it has been fun. I'm still going to work
- 52:10on these clouds a little bit more. I
- 52:12like the idea. Um, one of the things I
- 52:15really enjoy seeing, and this is all
- 52:17just kind of out of my memory, uh, I
- 52:20like to paint things kind of just off
- 52:22the cuff. And, um, one of the things
- 52:26that's really cool sometimes is when
- 52:29there's a really bright blue sky and
- 52:32some like yellowish orange clouds. U,
- 52:38it's always kind of like a really pretty
- 52:41look.
- 52:43It's almost like a painting of new
- 52:46beginning like our whole
- 52:49because it's a lot of times you see
- 52:50clouds like this after a rainstorm later
- 52:53in the day and the sun is just kind of
- 52:58bouncing off the clouds in all
- 53:00directions and uh
- 53:03after a storm it's kind of like the same
- 53:05type of thing of like a new beginning.
- 53:07So, that's kind of how we'll look at
- 53:10this cloud formation here is it's a
- 53:13resolution cloud and we're looking for
- 53:17some new beginnings
- 53:19for 2026.
- 53:22So, I was trying to think of some tips
- 53:26um that have been effective for me. Um
- 53:30and I did jump ahead here in the
- 53:31painting a little bit and decided to go
- 53:33a little bit more contrasty. You as I
- 53:36was talking about the bright blue sky
- 53:38and the kind of orangey clouds, I kind
- 53:41of I wanted to make it even more
- 53:44dramatic. So, I just kind of made
- 53:47uh this part of the cloud darker and
- 53:50putting some more color onto it. Um
- 53:53anyway, uh like I said, if you want to
- 53:55learn painting lessons stuff, just make
- 53:57sure you check out my website,
- 53:59timggon.com. I have I do full
- 54:01explanation videos there. So, if that's
- 54:02what you're looking for rather than a
- 54:05podcast, make sure you check that out.
- 54:07Uh, but I was trying to think of maybe
- 54:09some advice that I could give for
- 54:12resolutions that I've stuck to. And I
- 54:14think exercise is one that I've really
- 54:17stuck to well. And then this another one
- 54:20was um, with the timeline tree
- 54:23paintings, I've really stuck to making a
- 54:25lot of those this year. and uh sometimes
- 54:28I don't necessarily feel like it and
- 54:30want to take a break from doing it.
- 54:33Um but I guess
- 54:37it's a lot of willpower, you know, to
- 54:39commit to something and then continue to
- 54:41do it. It's always easy to do it when
- 54:44you want to. It's the the part that's
- 54:47hard is when you don't want to do it,
- 54:50it's really easy not to do it. So, um,
- 54:53for me,
- 54:55I almost when I really want to do it, I
- 54:58I have a little conversation with
- 54:59myself. So, like if I really want to,
- 55:02um,
- 55:04eat healthier, I'll I'll sit down, I'll
- 55:08write down I like to write in a journal
- 55:10a little bit and, uh, I'll write some of
- 55:14my thoughts down about, you know, how I
- 55:15want to do this and it's really
- 55:17important that I stick to it, blah,
- 55:19blah, blah. And one thing I I say when I
- 55:22write something down is there will be a
- 55:25time I know there will be a time when I
- 55:28don't want to do this and I will have a
- 55:31day where I I just want to give up. And
- 55:34so what I tell myself is those are the
- 55:36days you have to do it. Um, so if
- 55:40there's ever a day you're like, I really
- 55:41don't want to do this today, that's
- 55:44that's the day that you definitely put
- 55:46the effort in and do whatever it is
- 55:51you're working on. And the reason why I
- 55:53think that's effective is because if you
- 55:55can overcome, you know, even if it's for
- 55:58five minutes, um, commit yourself to
- 56:02doing whatever resolution you're doing
- 56:05on the days that you really don't want
- 56:07to do it. Make yourself do it for like
- 56:095, 10, 15, 20 minutes. And what happens
- 56:13is, I think you get such a mental win
- 56:15from doing that, you start to gain this
- 56:18resilience. And um as you gain
- 56:21resilience,
- 56:22it's easier to do stuff on days that you
- 56:25don't want to. And then you start
- 56:26forming habits. And then when you have a
- 56:29habit, um you'll almost start to just
- 56:32feel bad if you don't do it. Um so for
- 56:36me,
- 56:37that resilience of doing something for 5
- 56:4010 minutes. What I did is when I didn't
- 56:43want to do like a timeline tree
- 56:45painting, I just didn't really feel like
- 56:47it, what I'd do is I would say, "Well,
- 56:50what I can do is I can I can tape off my
- 56:53canvas. I don't even have to paint
- 56:55today. I'll just I'll just tape it off
- 56:57and um I won't worry about painting it.
- 57:00I know I know the design I want to do
- 57:03and um you know, taping it off is kind
- 57:07of monotonous and easy. So, I'll just
- 57:10measure out my design and tape it off
- 57:12and that's all I'll do for the day. And
- 57:15what I found would happen for me is um I
- 57:19tape off the painting. And then I'd say,
- 57:22well, I got it taped off. Maybe I'll
- 57:24just paint like one layer in. I still
- 57:27don't really feel like doing it, but
- 57:29it's taped off. Why don't I get myself a
- 57:31head start for tomorrow? And eventually
- 57:35what I found myself doing is I would
- 57:36just end up painting half the painting
- 57:38um even when I didn't want to. And uh
- 57:41it's kind of interesting. I think the
- 57:44anticipation or
- 57:46uh the waiting to do something is the
- 57:49hardest part. The actual doing of the
- 57:51thing isn't the hard part. So it's
- 57:53you're going to go to the gym and
- 57:56exercise. It's not the actual exercise
- 57:58part that's the hard part. it's the
- 58:00getting up and going to the gym part.
- 58:02Um,
- 58:04so you know, depending on what your
- 58:08resolution is, it's all going to be a
- 58:09little bit different. But if you can
- 58:11find that you can
- 58:14start the action at least a little bit,
- 58:17even if it's 5 minutes, at least you can
- 58:19give yourself the accomplishment of
- 58:21saying, "Oh, I did it even though I
- 58:23didn't want to do it. I did a little
- 58:25bit." And you would be surprised at how
- 58:27much that builds. Um, so that would be
- 58:30my advice. If you're looking to do a New
- 58:33Year's resolution this year, no matter
- 58:35what it is, and you have those days
- 58:37where you're like, I just don't want to
- 58:38do this today. Those are the days that
- 58:41you should definitely do it. Even if
- 58:43it's just a little bit, because that's
- 58:45where you'll start forming in that
- 58:48really strong resilience. I always say
- 58:50if it can work for me, it can work for
- 58:52anybody because I
- 58:54have the most
- 58:57um
- 59:01of the I have a big artist mind. So that
- 59:04means that I procrastinate and I put
- 59:06stuff off. Um and that's something I
- 59:11really want to work on this year too is
- 59:13uh and I've gotten a lot better at it
- 59:15this year to be honest. And that's um
- 59:18when I have a task to do and I think
- 59:20about it when it comes to mind. I used
- 59:23to be like, well, I'll do that in a
- 59:25little bit. I'll do that later today.
- 59:27Well, now I
- 59:30will attack that task even if it's just
- 59:32a little bit. Even if it were um
- 59:36like just uploading part of a video or
- 59:39editing five minutes of a video, um I'll
- 59:43just get up and do it. So,
- 59:47it's all those little things that kind
- 59:48of really build up and really create
- 59:56that resilience to continue doing
- 59:58something. So, like I said, you don't
- 1:00:00feel like doing it, just do it a little
- 1:00:02bit. Even if it's even if you're just
- 1:00:06anything, just little bit. and just give
- 1:00:08yourself the reward and saying, "Oh,
- 1:00:09there at least I did a little bit even
- 1:00:13though I really didn't even want to do
- 1:00:15it at all." So, I've been talking a
- 1:00:18little bit about resilience and that's,
- 1:00:20you know, in regards to goals. Uh, one
- 1:00:22thing I'll kind of leave with today as I
- 1:00:26kind of wrap up this painting, you can
- 1:00:27see it's changed a little bit over the
- 1:00:30um
- 1:00:32the time frame of of this video. you
- 1:00:34know, I've been adjusting and changing
- 1:00:36things and that's something that really
- 1:00:39is important when it comes to painting.
- 1:00:41I think it's, you know, reflective of
- 1:00:45how life is, too. And that's um
- 1:00:49without resilience, you don't get the
- 1:00:52results that you'd you'd want to get.
- 1:00:54I'm starting to get pretty happy with
- 1:00:55this painting. Um, you know, there were
- 1:00:58phases where I I felt like, you know, I
- 1:01:00I really need to um adjust what's
- 1:01:04happening in this painting cuz it's not
- 1:01:06it's not looking the way I expect it to
- 1:01:08look. And, you know, it's it's kind of
- 1:01:11hard when I'm talking and uh thinking
- 1:01:15about specific things, but
- 1:01:19when it comes to painting, there's
- 1:01:21always a phase that's really kind of
- 1:01:23hard to get through. And I always call
- 1:01:26it, you know, the ugly phase. You'll
- 1:01:27hear other artists say the same thing.
- 1:01:30So, I was talking about um, you know,
- 1:01:32the hard stage of the painting, the ugly
- 1:01:35stage. And kind of hard to get through,
- 1:01:37and sometimes it can be one of those
- 1:01:39things where it's almost like defeating.
- 1:01:43Um, I said a whole bunch of stuff, but
- 1:01:44my technical difficulties, my phone had
- 1:01:48stopped recording, so I lost all that.
- 1:01:51Now I have to say it all again, which is
- 1:01:52fine. Um, but these these are kind of
- 1:01:54the fun things that you learn as you're
- 1:01:58creating something new like this, like
- 1:02:00the uh things to look out for and things
- 1:02:02that um might mess you up a little bit
- 1:02:06here and there. But that's a it's a fun
- 1:02:08learning process for sure. But my what I
- 1:02:11was getting at with
- 1:02:13what I was talking about earlier about
- 1:02:15the hard stage painting, I think that's
- 1:02:17going to be when it comes to the New
- 1:02:19Year's resolutions, that's kind of the
- 1:02:21same type of thing for anything. There's
- 1:02:23going to be uh like these hard stages
- 1:02:27here and there and and that's anything
- 1:02:29in life really. And as is with painting,
- 1:02:33if you can get through some of those
- 1:02:36hard stages, uh it you get so rewarded
- 1:02:40because you
- 1:02:42you know, you create something that you
- 1:02:44really like. It starts out, oh, I really
- 1:02:46don't like this. Um I don't know where
- 1:02:48I'm going with this. It's uh you know
- 1:02:51it's there's so many kind of re rel uh
- 1:02:55things that relate to hard things in
- 1:02:58life like if you're starting a new
- 1:03:00venture or whatever when it when it
- 1:03:01comes to painting. So, um, that's kind
- 1:03:04of what I'm what I was getting at is
- 1:03:06like, you know, I started this painting
- 1:03:08and there were a few things about it
- 1:03:11that I didn't really like and, um, I
- 1:03:14just kept plugging away, plugging away,
- 1:03:16plugging away and then I got to a stage
- 1:03:18where I really liked it. So, that's
- 1:03:21going to be the same thing with any of
- 1:03:23those resolutions or new goals that you
- 1:03:25set is there's going to be those moments
- 1:03:27where you're like, I really don't like
- 1:03:28this. I don't want to do this anymore.
- 1:03:30But those are the times that you just
- 1:03:32got to persevere a little bit and push
- 1:03:34through it. And those are the testing
- 1:03:36points. That's where you start creating
- 1:03:38new pathways in your brain and you know
- 1:03:41overcoming those moments of resistance.
- 1:03:45So painting and life definitely relate
- 1:03:49to each other quite a bit.
- 1:03:59So, just going to do a few more of these
- 1:04:02clouds here and I am going to wrap up my
- 1:04:06painting and this podcast. And I hope
- 1:04:10you enjoyed the discussion about New
- 1:04:13Year's resolutions.
- 1:04:15And if you have some New Year's
- 1:04:18resolutions that you plan on doing,
- 1:04:20comment down below and let me know uh
- 1:04:22what you what your new venture is going
- 1:04:25to be, uh your new goal in life. Um
- 1:04:28sometimes when you publicly post about
- 1:04:31it, it gives you a sort of feeling that
- 1:04:35you need to commit to it a little bit
- 1:04:37more. So I think it's good to um comment
- 1:04:41and say, "Oh, this is this is what my
- 1:04:42plan is for 2026." Um, obviously you
- 1:04:46don't have to, but I think, like I said,
- 1:04:48if you kind of publicly put it out
- 1:04:50there, then you're committing yourself a
- 1:04:52little bit more than you normally would.
- 1:04:55If it's just kind of like a a secret,
- 1:04:57then you don't you don't have to face
- 1:05:00that feeling of uh giving up if you do
- 1:05:03end up giving up on it. Um, it's it's
- 1:05:06almost like you're forcing yourself to
- 1:05:08be more committed to it.
- 1:05:11So, I'd be really curious to hear if any
- 1:05:14of those top five uh
- 1:05:20resolutions are on your list, if you
- 1:05:22plan on doing some of those types of
- 1:05:23things. Um, or if you have your own, I'd
- 1:05:29love to hear it. Any new hobbies? If you
- 1:05:31want to learn how to paint, please check
- 1:05:33out my website. Come join me. I'd be
- 1:05:35happy to teach you everything I know. I
- 1:05:38don't hold anything back and uh my
- 1:05:41lessons are you can watch them as many
- 1:05:44times as you want. You get to keep them
- 1:05:45forever. You get to download them to
- 1:05:47your hard drive. So you never lose them.
- 1:05:50So I think that's a a big benefit to the
- 1:05:52lessons that I provide is you don't have
- 1:05:54any sort of time limit with them. You
- 1:05:56can paint and then you know 5 years down
- 1:05:59the road uh you can you can open it up
- 1:06:02again and and uh do the same painting.
- 1:06:06All right. So, that's pretty much
- 1:06:08wrapping it up for me. Um, I'm just
- 1:06:10going to do just a little bit of
- 1:06:13detail on these clouds that are up in
- 1:06:16front just to
- 1:06:22kind of give them just a little bit of
- 1:06:23depth. Not a whole lot.
- 1:06:35So, I was thinking about my sign off
- 1:06:40and I kind of came up with a couple
- 1:06:42ideas for a sign off and I sat and
- 1:06:46thought about it. sat out on the beach
- 1:06:49last night in Miami and uh was thinking
- 1:06:55between the things that I had come up
- 1:06:56with and I appreciate all the people
- 1:06:58chiming in on
- 1:07:01coming up with a sign off phrase and I
- 1:07:04wanted to keep it really simple,
- 1:07:06something I can remember and repeat over
- 1:07:09and over without forgetting it. Um,
- 1:07:14so we'll reveal that here in just a
- 1:07:17minute as I wrap up this last bit
- 1:07:23of detail on this painting.
- 1:07:32So again, if you like this painting and
- 1:07:34you want to help support this new
- 1:07:36venture of mine of creating a painting
- 1:07:38podcast,
- 1:07:40uh you can purchase the painting at a
- 1:07:42low price. I'm keeping it nice and low,
- 1:07:45especially right now as I'm first kind
- 1:07:47of starting out this podcast. But if you
- 1:07:49want to help me out, I'm going to I
- 1:07:51definitely need a new uh sound setup for
- 1:07:54doing these videos in the future. I want
- 1:07:56to get really good sound quality,
- 1:07:59especially if I want to turn it into a
- 1:08:01podcast that you can just listen to as
- 1:08:03well. So, um, that's what I'll be
- 1:08:05looking to do is getting a microphone
- 1:08:09set up for
- 1:08:12future videos. So, if you want to help
- 1:08:13me out in supporting this new podcast,
- 1:08:17uh, you can purchase this painting and
- 1:08:21that will go towards buying some new
- 1:08:23equipment that I can use.
- 1:08:27as this podcast goes forward. And I hope
- 1:08:29you enjoy the subject matter. I hope you
- 1:08:31guys all have a great
- 1:08:332026.
- 1:08:39And remember,
- 1:08:41keep your mind creative.
- 1:08:44Until next time.
