1. 0:00In this world, every Monday, the world
2. 0:01gets an update. You see, every Monday
3. 0:03morning, new patch notes appear on the
4. 0:05board in the middle of town, and
5. 0:06whatever they say becomes true. Gravity
6. 0:08reduced by 10%. Everyone bounce to work.
7. 0:10Dogs can now talk. Turns out they mostly
8. 0:12want to talk about squirrels. Fixed a
9. 0:13bug where grandma could walk through
10. 0:15walls. She was really upset about that
11. 0:16one. Nobody knows who writes them. All
12. 0:18we know is they come from the server
13. 0:19tower on the hill. A giant glowing
14. 0:21keyboard sits at the very top, guarded
15. 0:23by moderator bots. Whatever gets typed
16. 0:24on that keyboard goes into the update.
17. 0:26Once a raccoon got in and walked across
18. 0:28the keys. That Monday, everyone woke up
19. 0:30talking backwards. And there's one more
20. 0:31rule. The keyboard only lets you add
21. 0:33words. Nothing written there can ever be
22. 0:35deleted. Until one Sunday night, the
23. 0:37preview [music] of tomorrow's update
24. 0:38showed up on the board. Just one line.
25. 0:40Removed. Kids. At midnight, every kid
26. 0:41[music] in town would be deleted.
27. 0:43Parents were screaming. Grandmas were
28. 0:44fainting. My dad tried to throw his shoe
29. 0:46at the board. But me? I called my crew.
30. 0:48Zoe, the smartest kid in school. She's
31. 0:50read every patch note ever written. And
32. 0:51Marcus, 7 years old, small enough to fit
33. 0:53through a vent. We can't delete it. Zoe
34. 0:55said. Nobody can. Then we don't delete
35. 0:57it. I said, "We add." At 11:00 p.m., we
36. 0:59climbed the hill. The server tower was
37. 1:01humming, red lights everywhere. Two
38. 1:02moderator bots stood guard at the door,
39. 1:048 ft tall, laser eyes. Marcus squeezed
40. 1:06into the air vent. Zoe threw a rock into
41. 1:08the bushes. The bots turned.
42. 1:09Unauthorized noise detected. And while
43. 1:11they went to check, Marcus kicked open
44. 1:13the back door from the inside. We ran up
45. 1:14the stairs. 200 steps. 11:45 1150. At
46. 1:17the top was the keyboard. Huge. Every
47. 1:19key as big as a pizza box, and floating
48. 1:21in the air above it, glowing in red.
49. 1:23Removed. Kids. A countdown appeared
50. 1:25underneath it. Update [music] in 3
51. 1:26minutes. Then the door slammed open
52. 1:28behind us. The moderator bots.
53. 1:29"Intruders! Intruders! Hold them off!"
54. 1:31Zoe yelled. Marcus started running
55. 1:32circles around their legs. I jumped onto
56. 1:34the keyboard. I didn't have time for a
57. 1:35whole sentence. I had time for one word.
58. 1:37I jumped from key to key. H O M. The
59. 1:40bots grabbed Marcus. E Wo! One of them
60. 1:42grabbed my hood. R K. I slammed down on
61. 1:44enter with both feet. The whole tower
62. 1:46flashed and the line in the air changed.
63. 1:48Removed. Kids homework. [music] The bots
64. 1:50let go. The countdown hit zero and a
65. 1:52giant beam of light shot out of the
66. 1:53tower over the whole town. The next
67. 1:55morning, I woke up in my bed. I ran to
68. 1:56the window. Every [music] kid in town
69. 1:58was outside screaming, cheering because
70. 2:00every math sheet, every book report,
71. 2:02every worksheet in town was gone. Zoe
72. 2:04hugged me. Marcus did a backflip for one
73. 2:06whole week. We were heroes. Then the
74. 2:08next Monday, a new patch note showed up
75. 2:10on the board added, "Homework [music]
76. 2:11double." and under it in tiny letters.
