  4. 0:18male announcer: "In Touch," the teaching ministry of Dr. Charles
  5. 0:21Stanley, reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  6. 0:26Next on "In Touch," "Our Intimacy with God."
  7. 0:32Dr. Charles Stanley: Do you realize that God has purposed to
  8. 0:35reproduce His life in your life and through your life?
  9. 0:41And in order for that to happen, He must reveal Himself to you
  10. 0:46and He must bring us into an intimate relationship with Him.
  11. 0:51An intimate relationship with Him is of the highest priority,
  12. 0:55and it demands something of us and it impacts our entire life.
  13. 1:04For example, when you have the right relationship with Him or
  14. 1:08if you have a poor relationship with Him,
  15. 1:11out of that flows everything else in your life so that your
  16. 1:15relationship to Him determines how you live your life.
  17. 1:20Whether it's the right kind of life or the wrong kind of life,
  18. 1:23it all relates to that.
  19. 1:25So if I should ask you today: Do you have an intimate
  20. 1:29relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ?
  21. 1:32Well, some of you'd probably say, "Well, I'm not sure."
  22. 1:35Or, "I don't even know what intimacy is."
  23. 1:37Usually when we think of intimacy today, we
  24. 1:40think of sexual intimacy.
  25. 1:41That's where most people leave it: the what you see,
  26. 1:44what you touch, what you feel.
  27. 1:46But you see, all that's surface.
  28. 1:48Intimacy goes much deeper than what you see,
  29. 1:51what you touch, what you feel.
  30. 1:53And what I want us to look at in this message today is: What does
  31. 1:57it mean to have an intimate relationship with God
  32. 2:01through His Son, Jesus Christ?
  33. 2:02Now, some people have a difficult time with that,
  34. 2:04and this is the reason: they would say, "Well,
  35. 2:07if God is who He says He is and that He is holy and He's
  36. 2:10righteous and transcendent above us and He's sovereign in all
  37. 2:14these other things, and how can I, a sinner, have
  38. 2:18a personal, intimate relationship with a Holy God?
  39. 2:21How's that possible?"
  40. 2:22That's what I want to explain because it is possible.
  41. 2:25It is the will of God for every single one of His children to
  42. 2:29have an intimate relationship with Him,
  43. 2:31which means just being saved is not enough.
  44. 2:36Just going to church is not enough and
  45. 2:39reading the Bible and all the rest.
  46. 2:40It's relationship.
  47. 2:42And we live in a day when it seems that most people are
  48. 2:44having difficulty having a relationship.
  49. 2:49There's all kind of things that go on in people's lives but
  50. 2:53intimacy is not one of them.
  51. 2:55I want you to turn, if you will, to the sixty-third Psalm.
  52. 2:58Because if there's anyone in the Old Testament who certainly had
  53. 3:01an intimate relationship with God, it was David.
  54. 3:05Was he perfect? No, he was not.
  55. 3:08He was a sinner just like all of us have sinned against Him.
  56. 3:11And so what I want you to see is: here is the
  57. 3:14expression of a man's heart.
  58. 3:16Here is evidence of a man's intimate
  59. 3:18relationship with the Father.
  60. 3:20And so, beginning in this sixty-third chapter of the
  61. 3:23Psalms, I want to begin in verse one, which says,
  62. 3:26"O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
  63. 3:32my soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
  64. 3:36in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
  65. 3:40Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,
  66. 3:42to see Your power and Your glory.
  67. 3:45Because Your loving-kindness is better than life,
  68. 3:48my lips will praise You.
  69. 3:49So I will bless You as long as I live;
  70. 3:52and I will lift up my hands in Your name.
  71. 3:54My soul is satisfied," listen, "My soul is satisfied with
  72. 4:00marrow and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.
  73. 4:06When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night
  74. 4:10watches, For You have been my help,
  75. 4:13and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
  76. 4:17My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me."
  77. 4:22Here is the expression of a man's heart that's not satisfied
  78. 4:26with things, with places, with prominence and prestige and all
  79. 4:31the rest, here is a man whose soul hungers after God.
  80. 4:37Could you say that you hunger after Him?
  81. 4:41Could you say that the most important thing in your life is
  82. 4:44your relationship to Him?
  83. 4:46Could you say that you want Him more than you want any other
  84. 4:49thing or person or any opportunity?
  85. 4:53What's first and foremost?
  86. 4:55Is it an intimate relationship with Him?
  87. 4:58Intimacy talks about closeness, oneness, unity.
  88. 5:03And so, as we look at this, what I want us to see is I want us to
  89. 5:06take a look at what real, genuine intimacy looks like.
  90. 5:10What is it about?
  91. 5:11Because God desires that for us, and when you read what David
  92. 5:16said in the Psalms, he's hungering and thirsting and
  93. 5:18yearning after Almighty God.
  94. 5:20Somebody says, "Well now, what's this all this hungering about?"
  95. 5:24Listen carefully because, listen, this could be one of the
  96. 5:29most important messages you've ever heard in your life.
  97. 5:33Because if you do not develop what I'm going to talk about,
  98. 5:36you're going to go through life and you're going to miss the
  99. 5:42ultimate purpose for which God created you.
  100. 5:48Remember what He said?
  101. 5:49In the beginning He said, "Let us create man in our own image."
  102. 5:55What did He mean by that?
  103. 5:56Not so much physical but the image of who He is, Spirit.
  104. 6:02There's something so awesome about God.
  105. 6:04And He said, "Let's create man in our own image so we can
  106. 6:08relate to him and he can understand who we are.
  107. 6:10And I can love him and love her and shower upon them the
  108. 6:15goodness and the kindness and all that I am."
  109. 6:17That's God's purpose.
  110. 6:19So, what does this look like?
  111. 6:21Well, we're going to put these on the mag screen
  112. 6:23so you can jot them down.
  113. 6:24The first one is: it's a relationship
  114. 6:26of spiritual intimacy.
  115. 6:29That is, it reaches deeper than physical intimacy.
  116. 6:32And because you and I have the Holy Spirit living within us,
  117. 6:36we have the privilege and the power to relate
  118. 6:41to the Spirit of God.
  119. 6:43When you became a believer, the Spirit of God came
  120. 6:45into your life to do what?
  121. 6:47To enable you, to equip you, to empower you,
  122. 6:50to give you direction and guidance for your life and all
  123. 6:52the things that we need.
  124. 6:53And so we have the Holy Spirit.
  125. 6:55And when you and I submit to the Spirit of the Living God within
  126. 6:59us, we can begin to develop a relationship with Him because
  127. 7:03it's our spirit and His Spirit.
  128. 7:05Nothing to do with things.
  129. 7:07It isn't asking God for things,
  130. 7:09it's developing that relationship.
  131. 7:12So it all begins with a personal relationship.
  132. 7:15Then when we talk about that, we talk about this
  133. 7:18idea of a personal relationship.
  134. 7:21What's that about?
  135. 7:22It's about being open and honest and free.
  136. 7:27So we're not hiding anything, we're just being who we are.
  137. 7:30And think about the times that you've prayed, oftentimes,
  138. 7:33and you told God what you wanted Him to know.
  139. 7:36And you only confessed up to a point.
  140. 7:38And you're willing to repent up to a point.
  141. 7:41Intimacy says: here's my heart.
  142. 7:43Intimacy says: I'm willing to unwrap myself,
  143. 7:46God, before You, my heart, my soul,
  144. 7:49my spirit, and everything that I am.
  145. 7:51I want You to see all of me.
  146. 7:53I want You to know that there's nothing I'm holding back.
  147. 7:57This personal relationship, intimacy.
  148. 8:02Then of course, when I think about that,
  149. 8:05naturally I'm going to think about the whole idea of trusting
  150. 8:07because if I should ask you, if you have a relationship to
  151. 8:12somebody or for your husband or your wife, if you don't trust
  152. 8:14them, you cannot have an intimate relationship.
  153. 8:17You can have a physical relationship and a surface
  154. 8:20relationship but no intimacy.
  155. 8:22If you don't trust someone, you cannot have
  156. 8:25an intimate relationship.
  157. 8:27And so, as a believer, for example,
  158. 8:28you don't trust God.
  159. 8:30You say, "Well, I have these needs and--or I'm not going to
  160. 8:32tithe because I don't believe God can take my nine tenths and
  161. 8:35do more than I can with tenth.
  162. 8:36And I'm not going to do this
  163. 8:38that may be the will of God."
  164. 8:39In other words, as long as you refuse to trust Him,
  165. 8:42you cannot have an intimate relationship with Him.
  166. 8:45Because intimacy is total openness and total surrender
  167. 8:49and total willingness.
  168. 8:51And trust is an issue.
  169. 8:53In fact, how many times did Jesus talk to us of, in the
  170. 8:57Gospels, about trusting?
  171. 8:59Intimacy says I'm willing to trust you.
  172. 9:03And you see, a person will not surrender their life to God
  173. 9:06because they don't trust Him.
  174. 9:08He may ask them to do something they don't want to do or
  175. 9:11something they think they can't do or something in in life that
  176. 9:14just no, no, no, no, I can't do that.
  177. 9:17If I trust Him, I will obey Him.
  178. 9:20And if I obey Him it's because I love Him.
  179. 9:24You ask yourself the question: Do I really and truly have an
  180. 9:27intimate relationship with Him?
  181. 9:30Do you really and truly trust Him?
  182. 9:32Is this relationship, listen, not a church relationship,
  183. 9:36this is a relationship between you and Almighty God?
  184. 9:40Not only must there be a trust in that relationship but there
  185. 9:43must be loving in that relationship.
  186. 9:47Go back to Psalm forty-two for a moment and listen to what the
  187. 9:53Psalmist says here because all of this is an indication of his
  188. 9:56personal, intimate, loving relationship to the Father.
  189. 10:01He says in Psalm forty-two, verse one,
  190. 10:04"As the deer pants for the water brooks," that is,
  191. 10:08he's been running and running and running and running,
  192. 10:10maybe chased by some other wolf or something.
  193. 10:13And he says as he pants, thirsty, so thirsty, "pants
  194. 10:17for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God.
  195. 10:22My soul thirsts for God, for the living God."
  196. 10:26Could you say that you thirst for Him?
  197. 10:29Could you say that you have a hunger for Him?
  198. 10:31Could you say that you really and truly love Him?
  199. 10:34Now, I'll be honest with you about something,
  200. 10:36I can remember, I don't know exactly the day, but I remember
  201. 10:40it was a number of years ago.
  202. 10:42I remember praying and telling God that I loved Him.
  203. 10:45And all of a sudden, it dawned on me,
  204. 10:46I felt like I had marbles in my mouth.
  205. 10:50And I finally had to say, "God, I don't know
  206. 10:53whether I do or not."
  207. 10:55Somehow it's not ringing in my spirit.
  208. 10:59It sounds good and I've been saying it a long time,
  209. 11:01"I love You, God."
  210. 11:03But on that day, it's like the Spirit of God just jumbled my
  211. 11:07words and made me realize I didn't know
  212. 11:11what I was talking about.
  213. 11:13And I began to realize I didn't really love Him the way He
  214. 11:17wanted me to love Him.
  215. 11:20I had an affection for Him.
  216. 11:23And then as the Lord opened my eyes and helped me to see, I
  217. 11:28somehow had a very difficult time accepting His unconditional
  218. 11:32love because I grew up believing that somehow
  219. 11:35I had to deserve it.
  220. 11:37Somehow I had to merit His love.
  221. 11:41And on that day, I realized, no, I did not really love Him.
  222. 11:44I had an affection for Him, but it was the beginning of bringing
  223. 11:48me to realization of what true, genuine love
  224. 11:52for God is all about.
  225. 11:54I think about also another issue,
  226. 11:56and that is this issue of openness and transparency.
  227. 12:02Because you see, you can't have an intimate relationship with
  228. 12:05somebody you're holding secrets from them.
  229. 12:08And when you think about how people live,
  230. 12:10oftentimes, and live a lifestyle that is not a lifestyle of
  231. 12:14openness and honesty and transparency.
  232. 12:16How can you have relationship with somebody who's keeping
  233. 12:19secrets and keeping things from you?
  234. 12:22Well, you can't because we go back to the whole issue
  235. 12:25of trust, what's going on?
  236. 12:27So think about this, when you pray and you talk to the Lord,
  237. 12:30do you open your heart totally?
  238. 12:32Do you say to Him, "Lord, I know I've sinned against You,
  239. 12:35please forgive me in Jesus's name.
  240. 12:36You said first John one nine, that's what I'm claiming.
  241. 12:38Amen"?
  242. 12:40That won't work.
  243. 12:41Transparency says, "God, today I was very, very lustful.
  244. 12:47Today I was very prejudiced.
  245. 12:49Today I should not have opened my mouth and said that.
  246. 12:53Today I was very critical.
  247. 12:54Today," whatever it might be.
  248. 12:56Openness, honesty, and transparency.
  249. 12:59God is with us.
  250. 13:01And you see, to have--to have intimacy,
  251. 13:03it's got to be both ways.
  252. 13:05Listen, God wants you to know Him.
  253. 13:09He desires that you know Him fully.
  254. 13:12He created you to reveal Himself through you because He
  255. 13:15wants to express His love.
  256. 13:17He's an awesome God of love.
  257. 13:19He wants to express it, He desires to express it,
  258. 13:22and He wants us to do the same.
  259. 13:24And without that openness and transparency,
  260. 13:26you're not going to have intimacy.
  261. 13:28So that leads me to the next issue and that is: it's got to
  262. 13:32be a two-way relationship.
  263. 13:34Now, I want you to listen to this carefully.
  264. 13:36Probably if I said to you, "Well, do you pray?"
  265. 13:39"Yes."
  266. 13:41Well, let me ask you this, when you pray,
  267. 13:44what do you pray for primarily?
  268. 13:46More than likely you're going to say,
  269. 13:47"For my needs," naturally.
  270. 13:50Or, "I pray for my friends or people
  271. 13:52who are sick," or whatever.
  272. 13:54Well, when you pray, how long do you pray?
  273. 14:03What do you pray about?
  274. 14:05And then how long after you finish talking do you listen?
  275. 14:15You see, you cannot have an intimate relationship
  276. 14:18if you do all the talking.
  277. 14:21So let me ask you this: The last time you prayed,
  278. 14:24did you stop and say, "Lord, now that's my feeling,
  279. 14:27now I want to hear what You've got to say"?
  280. 14:30Oh, you say, "Well, you know, God doesn't speak to me."
  281. 14:33Oh yes, He does.
  282. 14:36His Spirit speaks to your spirit,
  283. 14:39but you've got to be willing to listen,
  284. 14:42to give Him time to speak.
  285. 14:45If you say your prayer or pray to Him and get up off your
  286. 14:49knees, more than likely if it's the kind of praying you're
  287. 14:52doing, you're not on your knees anyway.
  288. 14:53But if you just pray and the last thing you know,
  289. 14:56you go to sleep.
  290. 14:59You didn't hear from God.
  291. 15:01You just voiced your feelings.
  292. 15:04Intimacy means I must be willing to listen to Him.
  293. 15:09What does He want to say?
  294. 15:11Which brings me to the last one, and that is time,
  295. 15:15listen, a relationship where time and effort
  296. 15:18are given to know God.
  297. 15:21Now, when people say, for example, "You know, I would
  298. 15:25read the Bible, but I'm just so busy, I don't have time."
  299. 15:28Or, "I know I should spend more time in prayer
  300. 15:30but I just don't have time.
  301. 15:33I don't have time, I don't have time,
  302. 15:34I don't have time."
  303. 15:35Think about what you're saying.
  304. 15:38You're saying to the God of this universe,
  305. 15:42the Creator, you're saying to the Sovereign of this universe,
  306. 15:47our Sustainer, you're saying to this God who is our judge, you
  307. 15:53don't have time for Him?
  308. 16:00Who is the source of every single thing you have.
  309. 16:03Who desires an intimate relationship with Him.
  310. 16:06It takes time, which means, of course,
  311. 16:10it doesn't happen overnight.
  312. 16:11I was fortunate enough growing up to have gone to see my
  313. 16:15grandad when I was about seventeen, you heard me talk
  314. 16:18about that, walked away with--wealthy on the inside,
  315. 16:23not realizing how wealthy I was, of what I heard him say,
  316. 16:27but I remember one of the most impressive things I heard was:
  317. 16:33God spoke to him and he listened to God.
  318. 16:39And he began to tell me the things
  319. 16:41that God had done in his life.
  320. 16:43And when I walked away, my question was,
  321. 16:45"God, if you spoke to him that way,
  322. 16:48would You speak to me?
  323. 16:50If You would work in his life that way,
  324. 16:52how would You work in my life?
  325. 16:54I want to hear You, God.
  326. 16:56I want You to show me the truth."
  327. 16:58Now, did that happen overnight? No, it did not.
  328. 17:00But I got in the Word and I began to read and I began to
  329. 17:03ask, "Lord, speak to my heart.
  330. 17:05Show me.
  331. 17:06Help me to understand Your voice when it's You and not me.
  332. 17:10Give me understanding, Lord."
  333. 17:14He makes it very clear, He will show you
  334. 17:17the truth about Himself.
  335. 17:19He, listen, He will show you the truth about Himself
  336. 17:22through His Word.
  337. 17:23But He will also show you the truth about Himself in life.
  338. 17:28Develop a listening heart, a listening spirit.
  339. 17:32And the reason people make wrong decisions is
  340. 17:35because they don't listen to Him.
  341. 17:37One thing you can bet for sure, He will never mislead you.
  342. 17:40You know why I know that?
  343. 17:41Because He is a God of purity,
  344. 17:45righteousness, and truthfulness.
  345. 17:47He cannot deceive, He cannot mislead,
  346. 17:50He cannot do anything that would be a contradiction to who He is.
  347. 17:56This very God is living on the inside of you
  348. 17:59in the person of the Holy Spirit.
  349. 18:02He's there. Why?
  350. 18:03Because it is His Spirit that speaks to our spirit.
  351. 18:07It is His life connecting to our life.
  352. 18:10You say, "Well, but I'm not worthy of all that."
  353. 18:13The next time you feel that a way, you just remember this:
  354. 18:16that the cross is God's one and final testimony to His awesome,
  355. 18:22unconditional love for you no matter what.
  356. 18:28He does care about you and He wants to work in your life His
  357. 18:32awesome grace and love and mercy.
  358. 18:35Now, those are the characteristics of a
  359. 18:38genuine, intimate relationship.
  360. 18:40So somebody says, "Well, okay, so once I have that
  361. 18:44relationship, what can I feel, what can I sense?
  362. 18:49You see, we are sort of like this.
  363. 18:51Well, let me give you some words.
  364. 18:52First of all, stability.
  365. 18:55When a person has an intimate relationship with the Lord,
  366. 18:58it's like that there is an anchor that's there, that no
  367. 19:04matter what wind blows against you, it's going to be okay
  368. 19:08because you know God is there in you and with you.
  369. 19:11There is this sense of security within you,
  370. 19:15takes away the fears.
  371. 19:17Because He's not up yonder, He's inside.
  372. 19:21And you have this intimate relationship with Him.
  373. 19:24So there is security, there's stability, there's serenity.
  374. 19:27And that is this quietness in your spirit, that no matter
  375. 19:31what's going on, there is this sense of quietness and peace and
  376. 19:35contentment because you're talking to Him,
  377. 19:38you're listening to Him, you have built that relationship.
  378. 19:42There is also a sensitivity.
  379. 19:45Now, watch this, there's not only a sensitivity to the Lord,
  380. 19:50but there is a--listen, when you have an intimate relationship
  381. 19:54with Him, you have who He is on the inside of you,
  382. 19:57you'll find yourself very sensitive to other people.
  383. 20:01I don't mean their criticism necessarily, there might be
  384. 20:04a little bit of that, but you'll be sensitive to their needs,
  385. 20:07their hurts, their person-hood.
  386. 20:09There'll be something--in other words God,
  387. 20:12listen, because God is in you, He's relating to other people,
  388. 20:18listen, through His Spirit He's relating to their need,
  389. 20:22their emotional, spiritual need, He witnesses to that.
  390. 20:26And all they can do is give us credit when what they don't
  391. 20:29realize is that God is working in their life.
  392. 20:33So when you think about how all this develops,
  393. 20:36and I think about that spiritual sensitivity
  394. 20:38and spiritual understanding.
  395. 20:40In other words, one of the things that you'll--when you
  396. 20:42start developing this intimacy, you're going to start
  397. 20:44understanding the Word of God in ways that you've
  398. 20:46never understood it before, why?
  399. 20:47Because God wants you to understand.
  400. 20:49The Bible is not a mystery book.
  401. 20:52It's not a book of philosophy.
  402. 20:54It is a book of truth that explains the attitude and the
  403. 20:58heart of Almighty God.
  404. 21:01So that we can, listen, because you see,
  405. 21:03we said in the very beginning, He created us to have a
  406. 21:05relationship with Him, which required of Him to reveal
  407. 21:08Himself to us through His Word primarily and through our
  408. 21:10spirit, and to bring us into this intimate
  409. 21:13relationship with Him.
  410. 21:16Now, there are three barriers, so
  411. 21:20you might want to jot these down.
  412. 21:21There are three barriers.
  413. 21:25And here's the first one: it is pride.
  414. 21:28Don't pray because I can handle it.
  415. 21:32We don't ask Him, I'll work it out.
  416. 21:34It's pride.
  417. 21:35The reason people don't get on their knees, except their
  418. 21:38physical thing sometimes, is pride.
  419. 21:40How can you be too prideful to get on your knees to Holy,
  420. 21:45Righteous, Sovereign God?
  421. 21:48Every breath you have is a gift from Him.
  422. 21:51Somebody says, "I don't need to get on my knees."
  423. 21:53No, you don't.
  424. 21:54You don't need to honor God, you don't need to reverence God,
  425. 21:57but you get what comes with that.
  426. 21:59It is pride who keep--that keeps us off our knees,
  427. 22:02pride that keeps us in sin.
  428. 22:04We'd rather have a relationship with somebody than God.
  429. 22:10The second thing is rebellion.
  430. 22:12Sin.
  431. 22:13As long as there's sin in our life,
  432. 22:15there's no intimacy with God.
  433. 22:17When people say, "Well, I pray but nothing happens.
  434. 22:20I pray but God isn't answering me.
  435. 22:22I pray and hmm hmm hmm."
  436. 22:23Then you need to look at yourself and ask yourself the
  437. 22:25question--God isn't the problem.
  438. 22:27You're the problem.
  439. 22:29There is no intimacy where there is rebellion.
  440. 22:32Now, think about this: you have to think
  441. 22:34about your own relationships.
  442. 22:35Can you have an intimate relationship with a husband or
  443. 22:38wife who's just rebellious against you?
  444. 22:41No, you cannot.
  445. 22:44You can't have an intimate relationship with your children
  446. 22:47if they're in rebellion in their life.
  447. 22:53And then the last one is real simple: if it's pride,
  448. 22:59if it's rebellion, and then if you're in a hurry.
  449. 23:02If you're in a hurry, you won't develop an
  450. 23:04intimate relationship with God.
  451. 23:06It takes time, time to read His Word and meditate upon it,
  452. 23:14think about it, ask questions.
  453. 23:16God, what are you saying to me?
  454. 23:20Lord, how does this apply to my life?
  455. 23:22Is this is a warning?
  456. 23:24Is this something that I need to look at in my life?
  457. 23:28Oh, Lord, thank You for this wonderful promise.
  458. 23:31Time to read.
  459. 23:33Time to talk to Him.
  460. 23:35Time to listen to Him.
  461. 23:37Cannot tell you how very important that is.
  462. 23:41And you see, here's what'll happen: the more you listen,
  463. 23:46the more you're going to hear.
  464. 23:48And the more you hear, the more excited you're going to be.
  465. 23:52And the more excited you're going to be,
  466. 23:54the more time you want to give to listen to Him.
  467. 23:59Now, if you're in love with somebody, you like listening.
  468. 24:04I do.
  469. 24:06I like listening to a friend of mine.
  470. 24:08I love listening.
  471. 24:11He's willing to tell you far more than you expect.
  472. 24:17Because you see, knowing that God gave His Son for me,
  473. 24:23I know He'll give me all the information
  474. 24:28and everything else I need.
  475. 24:31And that's what Paul meant in Romans when he said: having
  476. 24:34given us His Son Jesus Christ, will he withhold
  477. 24:39from us any good thing?
  478. 24:41And the answer is no.
  479. 24:44So with that in mind, would you say that you have an intimate
  480. 24:47relationship with God?
  481. 24:51Or would you have to say, "Phew, I missed it"?
  482. 24:57You say, "When do I start?"
  483. 24:58Now.
  484. 25:01Think about this: all of us one of these days,
  485. 25:05no matter where we are and whatever our age,
  486. 25:07our heart's going to beat for the last time and we're going
  487. 25:14to meet the Father.
  488. 25:16Is He going to be a stranger to you?
  489. 25:23Or do you want to have the kind of intimate relationship while
  490. 25:27you're here in this life whereby your life can impact
  491. 25:31the people around you?
  492. 25:33Not because of what you're doing but because of what He living
  493. 25:37within you is able to do through you.
  494. 25:40And that is my prayer for you.
  495. 25:42Don't be satisfied with less in your relationship to Him than
  496. 25:49intimacy, which is the will and purpose and plan of God for you.
  497. 25:54And Father, how grateful we are when we think about You:
  498. 25:58perfect, holy, awesome God having a personal,
  499. 26:02intimate relationship with sinners like us.
  500. 26:04But because the blood of Your Son has washed us clean and
  501. 26:07sanctified us under Yourself, You're willing to do it.
  502. 26:12And I pray for every person who hears this message,
  503. 26:14create within them this awesome, holy,
  504. 26:18dissatisfaction with where they are and a hunger to know you in
  505. 26:24a deeper way than ever before.
  506. 26:25In Jesus's name, amen.
