- 0:00Have you ever built a Lego city? You
- 0:02need roads, buildings, traffic signs,
- 0:04and people all in the right places. If
- 0:07everyone is doing the same thing in the
- 0:09same spot, it's a mess. But if each part
- 0:11has its role, the city runs smoothly.
- 0:14That's exactly what organizational
- 0:16structure and design is all about. What
- 0:18is organizational structure? Definition.
- 0:21Organizational structure is the system
- 0:24that outlines how certain activities are
- 0:26directed in order to achieve the goals
- 0:27of an organization. In simple words,
- 0:30it's how a company is built. Who does
- 0:33what, who reports to whom, and how
- 0:35everything connects. Think of it as a
- 0:37company's skeleton. It holds everything
- 0:39together. Why is structure important?
- 0:42Imagine a school with no principal, no
- 0:44teachers, and no class timetable. Total
- 0:47chaos, right? But when everyone knows
- 0:50their role, the principal leads,
- 0:52teachers teach, and students learn,
- 0:54everything works like magic. In the same
- 0:56way, a company with the right structure
- 0:58avoids confusion, saves time, makes
- 1:01better decisions, and grows faster.
- 1:03Types of organizational structures.
- 1:05There are many ways to build an
- 1:07organization. Here are the three main
- 1:08types. Functional structure. People are
- 1:12grouped by their jobs. Example,
- 1:14marketing team, sales team, HR team.
- 1:17Divisional structure. The company is
- 1:19divided by products, customers, or
- 1:21locations. Example, Apple has iPhone
- 1:24division. Mac division and iPad
- 1:27division. Matrix structure, a mix of
- 1:29both. Employees report to two bosses,
- 1:32one for their job and one for a project.
- 1:34Example, a designer might report to the
- 1:37design head and a project manager. What
- 1:40is organizational design? Now, what
- 1:42about organizational design? It's like
- 1:44being the architect of a building. You
- 1:46don't just throw bricks together. You
- 1:48plan it first. Organizational design
- 1:50means creating the best structure so
- 1:52people can work easily, talk clearly,
- 1:54and achieve goals quickly. Famous quote,
- 1:57"Structure follows strategy." Alfred
- 1:59Chandler. That means the way your
- 2:01company is built should match your
- 2:03goals. Kid-friendly example. Let's say
- 2:06you and your friends run a school
- 2:08newspaper. One person writes stories,
- 2:10another designs the pages, someone
- 2:12prints, and someone delivers.
- 2:15If you all know your roles and who to
- 2:16talk to, the newspaper gets done. That's
- 2:19your mini organizational structure in
- 2:21action. A strong structure is like a
- 2:24superhero costume. It gives a business
- 2:27power, protection, and identity. When
- 2:29the right people do the right jobs,
- 2:32everything flows. So, next time you see
- 2:34a successful company, remember it's not
- 2:37luck, it's structure and design behind
- 2:39the scenes. Did you learn something new
- 2:41today? Like this video. Comment with
- 2:44your favorite company structure. Is it
- 2:46Apple or maybe your school?
