  1. 0:00Have you ever picked up a loaf of bread
  2. 0:02and water? Is this really fresh? Welcome
  3. 0:05to our innovation pitching presentation
  4. 0:07on the digital smart glo system for
  5. 0:09Gardinia. An upgrade that use buckle
  6. 0:11technology to improve freshness control,
  7. 0:14reduce waste and support sustainability.
  8. 0:16I'm Brunetta and together with my team
  9. 0:18Sino Aisha and Aisha. Let's get start.
  10. 0:22>> The problem mainly comes from the way
  11. 0:23the Gilog system is currently operated.
  12. 0:26It relies heavily on manual processes,
  13. 0:28daily forecast based production and
  14. 0:29strict freshness requirements. This
  15. 0:31makes the system highly dependent on
  16. 0:33human accuracy and leaves very little
  17. 0:34room for error. Uh as a result, quality
  18. 0:37control inconsistency occurs due to
  19. 0:39manual color assignment and human error.
  20. 0:41At the same time, eventually waste
  21. 0:42increases when demand fluctuates and
  22. 0:44bread reaches the end of its short shelf
  23. 0:46life. There are also environmental
  24. 0:48concerns as the G-lo tips are made from
  25. 0:50non biodegradable plastic. In addition,
  26. 0:53consumer and retailer confusion can
  27. 0:55occur when incorrect color coding or
  28. 0:57delay stock rotation affects freshness
  29. 1:00identification. Uh because of these
  30. 1:02issues, our group choose to focus on
  31. 1:04improving quality control consistency as
  32. 1:06it is the root problem uh that lead to
  33. 1:09waste confusion and sustainability
  34. 1:10challenges. This also creates a clear
  35. 1:13opportunity to improve the existing glo
  36. 1:15system, reduces human error and minimize
  37. 1:17inventory waste through innovation. So,
  38. 1:19Gardinia colorcoded Gox [music] system
  39. 1:21is effective in maintaining daily
  40. 1:23freshness. But our reflective case study
  41. 1:25identifies several key issues. This
  42. 1:27includes human error during color
  43. 1:28coding, inconsistent, effortful
  44. 1:30practices at retail outlets, high
  45. 1:32inventory due to demand fluctuations,
  46. 1:34consumer confusion, and environmental
  47. 1:36concerns caused by non biodegradable
  48. 1:38plastic clips. Based on these
  49. 1:40challenges, we propose an innovation
  50. 1:42called the digital smart G-Lock system
  51. 1:44with a biodegradable barcode cutter
  52. 1:46clips. This innovation enhanced the
  53. 1:47existing G-Lock clip by integrating
  54. 1:49three elements into one product. Color
  55. 1:51coding, instiry information, and
  56. 1:53escanable barcodes. The clip is made
  57. 1:55from biodegradable materials such as
  58. 1:57plant-based biopolymer like polyactic
  59. 1:59[music] acid which are environmentally
  60. 2:01friendly and suitable for food
  61. 2:03packaging. Importantly, the traditional
  62. 2:05color system is retained so there is no
  63. 2:07major disruptions to current operations.
  64. 2:10In terms of how it works during
  65. 2:11production and packaging, the barcode
  66. 2:13based Gulot clips is printed and
  67. 2:15attached to each loaf of bread. The
  68. 2:17system alternatively record key data
  69. 2:19such as production date, expiry date and
  70. 2:21batch number. At the quality control
  71. 2:23stage, a mandatory scanning process
  72. 2:25verifies that the information is correct
  73. 2:27before the product is released for
  74. 2:28distribution, ensuring consistency and
  75. 2:30reducing human error. At the retail
  76. 2:33level, staff can scan the barcode during
  77. 2:35shelf arrangement. The system then
  78. 2:37indicates which loaf should be sold
  79. 2:39first. supporting proper FIFO practices
  80. 2:41and reducing the risk of expired bridge
  81. 2:43remaining on shelves. At the same time,
  82. 2:45Gladina receive real-time data on sales,
  83. 2:48stock [music] edging and returns
  84. 2:50allowing better demand forecasting and
  85. 2:52reduce over productions. Overall, this
  86. 2:54innovation improves quality control
  87. 2:56consistency, reduce inventory waste,
  88. 2:58enhance consumer clarity and addresses
  89. 3:01environmental sustainability while
  90. 3:03remaining practical and feasible. It
  91. 3:05represents a meaningful improvement to
  92. 3:07an existing business process rather than
  93. 3:09a complete replacement making it
  94. 3:10suitable for your implementations. Thank
  95. 3:13you. Next, this innovation provides
  96. 3:15benefits in four main areas. From an
  97. 3:17operational perspective of automation
  98. 3:19helps reduce human error in kodi. Uh
  99. 3:21improve quality control consistency and
  100. 3:23ensure v4 apply correctly at retail
  101. 3:25outlets. [music] In terms of cost and
  102. 3:27efficiency, better demand based planning
  103. 3:29helps reduce inventory waste caused by
  104. 3:31over production uh and expired products.
  105. 3:33This also lowers product returns,
  106. 3:35disposal costs and rework resulting in
  107. 3:37smoother and more efficient operations.
  108. 3:39From an environmental perspective, using
  109. 3:41biodegradable or reduce plastic glob
  110. 3:43materials helps lower plastic waste and
  111. 3:45reduce unnecessary disposal of soore
  112. 3:48break, supporting Guardian
  113. 3:49sustainability goals. Finally, for
  114. 3:51customers and the brand, accurate
  115. 3:52freshness indicators reduce confusion,
  116. 3:55increase confidence in product quality
  117. 3:56and safety, and strengthen Gardinia's
  118. 3:59reputation as a trusted bakery brand.
  119. 4:01We're going to move to the next steps of
  120. 4:02future plans. We will start with pilot
  121. 4:04testing and system integration. The
  122. 4:06improved Glo system will be tested on
  123. 4:08selection lines to reduce operational
  124. 4:11risk. During this stage, we will check
  125. 4:13the accuracy of automated uh color
  126. 4:15assignment and digital tracking. While
  127. 4:17monitoring error rates, W levels and
  128. 4:19processing time feedback will also be
  129. 4:22gathered from production staff, quality
  130. 4:24control teams and retailers. After that,
  131. 4:26we will focus on sustainability and
  132. 4:28continuous improvements. Biodegradable
  133. 4:30or reduced plastic glo materials will be
  134. 4:32introduced gradually uh and performance
  135. 4:34will be monitored using key indicators
  136. 4:36such as error reduction, waste reduction
  137. 4:38and product returns. The system will
  138. 4:40then be improved continuously based on
  139. 4:42data and feedback. Next, I will talk
  140. 4:46about our rees and validations. In this
  141. 4:48part, we will explain how we studied
  142. 4:50existing ideas in the market and
  143. 4:52validated our innovation to ensure it is
  144. 4:55practical, realistic and suitable for
  145. 4:57Gardinia's Glo system. First, we look at
  146. 5:00existing and similar ideas. One example
  147. 5:03is no company which use QR code on its
  148. 5:06packaging [music] to provide product
  149. 5:08transparency, sustainability
  150. 5:10informations [music] and transpility to
  151. 5:12customers. They show that digital
  152. 5:15identification on food packaging is
  153. 5:16already accepted [music] and trust by
  154. 5:18customers. However, for a high volume
  155. 5:21bakery like Ginas, QR code may not be
  156. 5:25the most efficient options. So, our
  157. 5:27innovation adapts this concept [music]
  158. 5:29by using barcode instance.
  159. 5:32Marot allow faster scannings, lower
  160. 5:35implementation cost and easier
  161. 5:37integration with existing return and
  162. 5:39warehouse system. Since mark are already
  163. 5:42widely used in food manufacturing,
  164. 5:43[music]
  165. 5:44inventory trackings and batch control.
  166. 5:47This makes our solution practical,
  167. 5:50scalable and suitable for Gardinia's Glo
  168. 5:53system. Next, we identify the target
  169. 5:55users and how this innovation help them.
  170. 5:58The main users include Gardinia's
  171. 6:00production and quality control teams,
  172. 6:03retail such as supermarket and
  173. 6:05convenience store, consumer [music] and
  174. 6:07environmental conscious stakeholders.
  175. 6:10For the production and quality control
  176. 6:12teams, the buckot enhance the look, help
  177. 6:15reduce reliance [music] on color coding
  178. 6:17and minimize batch handling errors.
  179. 6:20Retail benefit from easier fee for
  180. 6:22managements, better stock rotation and
  181. 6:25fewer production return due to expired
  182. 6:28rent. [music]
  183. 6:30For consumer, the system provide clear
  184. 6:32freshness [music] ensure without
  185. 6:35requiring a scanning step and additional
  186. 6:37step. At the same time, the use of
  187. 6:40biodegradable glo materials support
  188. 6:42environmental sustainability by reduce
  189. 6:46plastic waste.
  190. 6:48In term of flexibility, this [music]
  191. 6:50innovation is highly achievable. It is
  192. 6:53low cost because it build on existing
  193. 6:55market technologies and enhance the
  194. 6:58current G-log system without major
  195. 7:00capital investment.
  196. 7:03It can be seamlessly integrated into
  197. 7:06current packaging lines without
  198. 7:07distrupting production workflow. The
  199. 7:10technology is already proven and
  200. 7:12accessible within the food packaging
  201. 7:14industry and most importantly it is
  202. 7:16provides the existing freshness control
  203. 7:19process instead of replacing it. Finally
  204. 7:22the impact of this innovation [music] is
  205. 7:24significance. It help reduce inventory
  206. 7:27waste by improving freshness accuracy
  207. 7:30and minimizing product returns. [music]
  208. 7:33It's enhanced quality control
  209. 7:34consistency through a standardized Glo
  210. 7:37system reducing MOS errors at the same
  211. 7:40time it is strenous
  212. 7:43sustainability effort and build stronger
  213. 7:46consumer trust in the brand.
  214. 7:48>> That's all. Thank you for watching.
