- 0:00Most all-in-one software claim to do
- 0:02everything, but few actually deliver.
- 0:04And if you've been searching for a
- 0:05system to run your business, you've
- 0:07probably come across two major names,
- 0:09ODU and Zoho One. But which one's really
- 0:12the better fit for
- 0:19you? Hi, I'm Jeff Bodiaak with Software
- 0:22Connect and in this video, we'll compare
- 0:24ODU and Zoho 1. not just list features,
- 0:27but help you decide which system
- 0:29actually works for how your company runs
- 0:31day-to-day. And a quick shameless plug,
- 0:33if you like straightforward, no fluff
- 0:35software breakdowns, hit the like button
- 0:37and subscribe below so you don't miss
- 0:39out on the next one. Let's get into it.
- 0:41ODU and Zoho One are often called
- 0:43lightweight ERPs. Both aim to help you
- 0:45manage your entire business from
- 0:47accounting and customer relationship
- 0:49management to inventory and HR. While
- 0:51they look similar on paper, their
- 0:53approaches are completely different. ODO
- 0:55is all about flexibility and
- 0:56scalability. Think of it like building
- 0:58with Lego bricks. You start with one
- 1:00app, use it as long as you'd like, and
- 1:02add more as your business grows. You can
- 1:04choose the free community edition or
- 1:06upgrade to the paid enterprise version,
- 1:08which comes with extra features and
- 1:10support. Zoho 1, on the other hand,
- 1:12takes a very different approach. Instead
- 1:14of building your own system from
- 1:15scratch, you get an entire toolkit
- 1:17pre-built, assembled, and ready to go.
- 1:20Zoho 1 includes over 45 cloud-based apps
- 1:22that handle everything from sales to
- 1:24customer support and marketing. You can
- 1:26subscribe to Zoho 1 for full access to
- 1:28all the apps or pick and choose only the
- 1:30ones you need like Zoho Books, Zoho
- 1:32Inventory or Zoho People. That
- 1:34flexibility and packaging is a big part
- 1:36of its appeal. But the real deciding
- 1:38factors usually come down to
- 1:40customization, pricing, and core
- 1:42features. First, let's talk about
- 1:44customization. ODO gives you control.
- 1:46It's open source, which means you can
- 1:48customize practically everything, even
- 1:50down to the source code. It's why it's a
- 1:52top pick for industries like
- 1:53manufacturing, wholesale, and
- 1:55e-commerce, where you often need deep
- 1:57integration between inventory production
- 1:58and sales. But that level of control
- 2:01comes with a trade-off, complexity.
- 2:03There's a learning curve, and you'll
- 2:05likely need help from an implementation
- 2:06partner or developer to get fully dialed
- 2:08in. Zoho, by contrast, is designed for
- 2:11ease of use. It's cloudnative, works out
- 2:14of the box, and is ideal if you want a
- 2:15comprehensive system without heavy
- 2:17setup. You won't get the same level of
- 2:19customization, but you also won't be
- 2:21buried in configuration steps. That
- 2:23said, Zoho does offer some automation
- 2:26tools. With Zoho Flow, you can connect
- 2:28different apps and build custom
- 2:30workflows, but it's not the same as
- 2:31having access to source code. You're
- 2:33still operating within Zoho's built-in
- 2:35limitations. That's why I'm giving this
- 2:37one to ODU. Deployment is another big
- 2:39difference between the two. Zoho 1 is
- 2:41primarily a cloud solution. Most apps
- 2:44run online and only a couple like Zoho
- 2:46Studio and Zoho Analytics offer onremise
- 2:49options. ODU gives you more choices. You
- 2:52can self-host it on your own servers,
- 2:54run it entirely in the cloud, or go
- 2:56hybrid with their hosting platform,
- 2:58ODO.sh. Just keep in mind that this does
- 3:01add extra hosting costs. But if you're
- 3:03looking for a flexible deployment
- 3:04option, ODU is a clear winner here.
- 3:07Let's break down pricing starting with
- 3:08Zoho. Zoho 1 starts at $45 per employee
- 3:12per month for your entire workforce, or
- 3:14you can pay a higher rate for just the
- 3:16users who need access. Bundled suites
- 3:18and individual apps are also available
- 3:20if you only need part of the platform.
- 3:22ODU offers a free community edition with
- 3:24limited features and a free single app
- 3:26online plan for unlimited users. For
- 3:29businesses that need the full suite of
- 3:31cloud apps, ODU Enterprise starts at
- 3:33about $39 per user per month with higher
- 3:36pricing for advanced features like
- 3:37customization or self-hosting. So, which
- 3:40one is more affordable? For small teams
- 3:42or startups, ODU's free community
- 3:44edition or single app plan can be the
- 3:46most cost-ffective starting point. But
- 3:48if you need a wide range of tools and
- 3:50want everything integrated out of the
- 3:51box, Zoho's bundle pricing may offer
- 3:54better value at scale, even if the cost
- 3:56per user is higher. But here's what most
- 3:58people miss. While ODO's licensing fees
- 4:01are low, the cost of implementation,
- 4:03customization, and hosting can quickly
- 4:05add up. Dependent upon how much
- 4:07tailoring you need, your total cost of
- 4:09ownership could approach that of a full
- 4:10ERP system like Microsoft Dynamics.
- 4:13Pricing really depends upon how your
- 4:14business is set up. Things like team
- 4:16size, IT resources, and whether you want
- 4:19to self-host can all shift the numbers.
- 4:21That's why it's tough to pin down a
- 4:23one-sizefits-all price. The good news,
- 4:26we can do the leg work for you. Just
- 4:28head over to softwareconnect.com and
- 4:30we'll match you with ERP vendors like
- 4:31ODU and Zoho, complete with custom
- 4:33quotes based on your exact needs. It's
- 4:35free, fast, and takes the guesswork out
- 4:38of the search. Now, since this is often
- 4:40the heartbeat of any business, let's see
- 4:42how each systems accounting features
- 4:44compare. ODU simplifies online payment
- 4:46through customer portals and e-commerce
- 4:48checkouts. It supports various payment
- 4:50methods, including PayPal and Stripe,
- 4:53and accommodates cash on delivery.
- 4:55Transactions are securely handled by
- 4:57certified payment processors with fees
- 4:59typically ranging from 1.5 to
- 5:023.5%. However, ODU doesn't have its own
- 5:04payment gateway. You get seven invoice
- 5:07layouts with customization options like
- 5:08logo, color, scheme, font, and tagline
- 5:11or footer changes. Plus, ODU offers 20
- 5:15reports covering all the essentials.
- 5:16Balance sheets, profit and loss, cash
- 5:19flow, tax reports, you name it. All of
- 5:22these can help you track cost and
- 5:23profitability by project or
- 5:25department. Zoho Books supports online
- 5:28payments via multiple gateways,
- 5:29including Stripe, PayPal, and Square
- 5:31with options varying by regions. It also
- 5:34allows for direct a transfers and select
- 5:37areas. Zoho Payments, its built-in
- 5:39solution, provides more payment methods
- 5:41such as UPI, cards, and net banking,
- 5:44each with different transaction fees.
- 5:46But Zoho shines when it comes to
- 5:47invoicing and reports. It offers 21
- 5:49invoice templates. You can fine-tune
- 5:51font types, colors, orientation, and
- 5:54even automate reoccurring invoices. For
- 5:57reporting, Zoho gives you 80 financial
- 5:59reports from cash flow to aging
- 6:01summaries with drill down capabilities
- 6:03for deeper insights. So, in the end, I
- 6:05choose Zoho Books for its broader
- 6:07reporting tools, more flexible invoicing
- 6:09options, and built-in support for a
- 6:11payments that help keep cash flow
- 6:13steady. So, which one should you choose?
- 6:15ODU is the better choice for most
- 6:17businesses that need a scalable,
- 6:18flexible, and fully customizable ERP. It
- 6:21rivals major platforms like Netswuite
- 6:23and Dynamics, but at a much lower cost,
- 6:26especially if you don't mind handling
- 6:27some of the technical setup. But if you
- 6:29want something that's easy to use, fast
- 6:31to deploy, and budget friendly, Zoho 1
- 6:33is a strong contender. It's perfect for
- 6:35small businesses that want plug-and-play
- 6:37tools without diving deep into technical
- 6:39setups or customization work. Of course,
- 6:42these aren't your only options. If you
