- 0:00Did you know you should never leave the
- 0:01house when dogs start barking in the
- 0:03middle of the night? My grandmother
- 0:05always said that, repeating it with
- 0:06such fear in her eyes that I obeyed
- 0:08without question. But on one Good
- 0:10Friday, I decided to take it seriously.
- 0:12My friends called me to go out for a
- 0:13walk. I was already ready, excited,
- 0:15when I heard the dogs barking outside
- 0:16in a strange way, as if they were
- 0:18seeing something invisible. My
- 0:19grandmother appeared distressed and
- 0:21said those barks were a warning, but I
- 0:22laughed. I thought it was nonsense and
- 0:24went out anyway. I soon met my friends
- 0:25on the corner. We went to the square
- 0:27and kept talking until another friend
- 0:29showed up asking us to go to the river.
- 0:30I was about to agree when my phone
- 0:32vibrated. I pulled it from my pocket
- 0:34and felt my body go cold, because it
- 0:36was a message from my friends saying
- 0:37they had gone home since I hadn't shown
- 0:39up. My heart raced. I looked at those
- 0:41who were with me, identical to my real
- 0:43friends, and I only managed to say I
- 0:45was going to the alley to pee. As soon
- 0:46as I turned the corner, I ran
- 0:48desperately back home. I arrived almost
- 0:50breathless and told my grandmother
- 0:51everything, who just hugged me and said
- 0:53they weren't my friends. That night, I
- 0:54understood that the barks weren't just
- 0:56noise, they were a warning that
- 0:57something was waiting for me out there,
- 0:59something I never saw again, but which
- 1:00I still feel watching me in the dark.
