- 0:01The Laponia World Heritage Site in
- 0:04Sweden is located just above the Arctic
- 0:07Circle.
- 0:10It is one of the largest wilderness
- 0:13areas in Europe.
- 0:17Orsolya Harberg and her husband Erlend
- 0:21are nature photographers.
- 0:24They have traveled all over Laponia to
- 0:27take photographs of the area.
- 0:31There are no people around for miles and
- 0:34many places in Laponia are extremely
- 0:38hard to get to.
- 0:40But the Harbergs are familiar with this
- 0:43land, both its beauty and its danger.
- 0:49They know the challenges of traveling,
- 0:52living, and working in an area that is
- 0:55completely untouched.
- 1:00You just got in a such a special mood
- 1:02there. You You You really slow down on
- 1:04these trips.
- 1:09The Harbergs have returned to this land
- 1:12many times.
- 1:23Winter is the easiest time to travel
- 1:26around Laponia. The Harbergs use sleds
- 1:30to pull their gear over the smooth snow.
- 1:34With the sleds, it's easier to transport
- 1:38heavy gear.
- 1:39The weather can get very cold here
- 1:42during winter, below -30°
- 1:46C,
- 1:47and the winds are very strong.
- 1:51In summer, the sleds don't work, so the
- 1:54Harbergs have to carry all their gear on
- 1:58their backs.
- 2:00They carry food such as oatmeal,
- 2:03crackers and cheese, chocolate and nuts.
- 2:07There is no communication with the
- 2:10outside world here.
- 2:12And it's easy to get hurt or sick if
- 2:16you're not careful.
- 2:18On one trip, O Sulia slipped on a rock
- 2:21and fell into a river. Luckily, she
- 2:25wasn't seriously hurt.
- 2:28The Harbergs work well together because
- 2:32they always support each other.
- 2:36They work as a team to take photos that
- 2:39show the amazing beauty of this land.
