  2. 0:01got out of prison?
  3. 0:02I, uh, shrimp from Costco.
  4. 0:06Shrimp from Costco? Eddie buys seafood
  5. 0:09from Costco all the time.
  6. 0:11eat salmon all the time. They got great
  7. 0:13salmon there, Billy.
  8. 0:14They have great salmon.
  9. 0:16Tosh Show.
  10. 0:19Tosh Show.
  11. 0:23Tosh Show. Tosh Show.
  12. 0:25Hey, y'all. It's me, Daniel Tosh, and
  13. 0:26welcome to Tosh Show. Hope everyone's
  14. 0:29buckled up cuz today's going to be one
  15. 0:32heck of a ride. Sorry for the language.
  16. 0:35How you doing, Eddie?
  17. 0:36I'm doing pretty good. You sound a
  18. 0:37little different though today.
  19. 0:39Huh.
  20. 0:40You think I sound different? Well, I I
  21. 0:42mean, we're recording a little earlier.
  22. 0:44This is just Maybe this is my morning
  23. 0:46groggy voice. I'm sure it'll it'll work
  24. 0:49its way through.
  25. 0:52What'd you do this weekend, Eddie?
  26. 0:54Yeah, I just hung out at the house. Had
  27. 0:55some Had some friends over.
  28. 0:57You had friends over? I didn't come
  29. 0:58over.
  30. 0:59I Yeah, I missed uh Yeah, no.
  31. 1:02That was [ __ ] [ __ ] man. You had
  32. 1:04friends over. Like There was like a
  33. 1:07whole crew of people I don't know about.
  34. 1:09All right. You know what I did? On
  35. 1:11Friday, I, uh,
  36. 1:13I went to my son's preschool and I
  37. 1:17passed out 21, that's how many people
  38. 1:20are in his class, uh, 21 index cards
  39. 1:23where I wrote a a clean, funny joke that
  40. 1:26a 4-year-old would laugh at, and I gave
  41. 1:28them to the kids and I told them they
  42. 1:30needed to practice their joke over the
  43. 1:32weekend, and then on Monday, I went in,
  44. 1:35I had built a stage, uh, a little
  45. 1:38backdrop, and made them a little comedy
  46. 1:40club at their preschool, and I was going
  47. 1:43to teach them how to do stand-up. And
  48. 1:44they were so excited. And I got a a
  49. 1:46microphone and everything like that. Got
  50. 1:49a little stool, put a little, uh,
  51. 1:51kids' water bottle on the on the stage,
  52. 1:54and, uh, you know, I had them do say
  53. 1:56funny things too, like, uh, you know,
  54. 1:59I'll be here all week. Try the chicken
  55. 2:00fingers. Yeah.
  56. 2:02We did They They just like to hear their
  57. 2:03voice amplified. But, here's the thing.
  58. 2:06Every one of those kids memorized their
  59. 2:09joke. They took it seriously. Like,
  60. 2:11their parents told me they're like, "Oh,
  61. 2:13our kid was working on his joke all
  62. 2:15weekend." And I was like, "Oh, that's
  63. 2:16great." And I was just, you know,
  64. 2:19showing them that
  65. 2:20every but every kid hears all the time
  66. 2:23that they can be a doctor or, uh, you
  67. 2:25know, a firefighter. But, you know, they
  68. 2:27they
  69. 2:27they might not be brave or they might be
  70. 2:29dumb as [ __ ] So, you need to know that
  71. 2:31there's another option. And that's why I
  72. 2:32introduced them to comedy. It was It was
  73. 2:34fun. Everybody My My son did well. He
  74. 2:37He'll Here, let's play his joke.
  75. 2:39Why did the girl throw a stick of butter
  76. 2:41out the window?
  77. 2:43Why?
  78. 2:44Because she wanted to see a butterfly.
  79. 2:48Thank you. THAT'S MY TIME.
  80. 2:52IT JUST HOLDS UP. BY THE WAY, I didn't
  81. 2:54charge these kids for my expertise.
  82. 2:58No, but But, there are these comedy
  83. 3:00classes. And And, you know, if anybody
  84. 3:02ever talks to me about stand-up, they're
  85. 3:04"What do you think of these comedy
  86. 3:05classes?" I think they're ridiculous.
  87. 3:08Uh, I don't think anybody should pay
  88. 3:09money to learn how to do stand-up
  89. 3:11because to me
  90. 3:13that was actually the fun part was
  91. 3:15trying to figure out how do I do this.
  92. 3:18I'll tell you Here's a story some people
  93. 3:20might not know. The first time I did
  94. 3:21stand-up, it was not in a comedy venue.
  95. 3:26Meaning, uh, it wasn't even a comedy
  96. 3:29night.
  97. 3:30I just looked in the paper in Orlando,
  98. 3:33uh, and I saw open mic. And because I
  99. 3:35was thinking everything open mic means
  100. 3:38stand-up, I'm going to go to this. And I
  101. 3:40went there. It was like a little jazz
  102. 3:42club. And they were just having, uh,
  103. 3:44musicians go up and perform all night.
  104. 3:47And I was like, "Oh, no. I made a huge
  105. 3:49mistake." So, I was like, I don't think
  106. 3:52I I had already signed my name on the
  107. 3:53paper and then I went over to the guy
  108. 3:55and I said, "Hey, uh
  109. 3:57I I I messed up. I I thought this was
  110. 3:59like comedy."
  111. 4:00He's like, "Well, are what are you going
  112. 4:01to tell jokes?" And I was like, "Yeah, I
  113. 4:04was just going to go up and tell He's
  114. 4:05like, "Yeah, that'd be great. Uh just
  115. 4:07just do it."
  116. 4:09And I'm like, "Oh, okay."
  117. 4:11So, there's this night of bad music and
  118. 4:14then they stop to have me go up for a
  119. 4:18few minutes and do horrible comedy.
  120. 4:22Anyway, so the point is I never took a
  121. 4:25comedy class and it's it's We can tell.
  122. 4:28But, I don't I just You just learn. You
  123. 4:30just figure it out. So, like, yeah, I
  124. 4:32that's I did comedy the wrong venue and
  125. 4:34then I was like, "Oh, I should look for
  126. 4:35places that are doing comedy and that's
  127. 4:38the open mics I should go to."
  128. 4:39It worked out for you.
  129. 4:40Yeah, it worked out. And by the way, if
  130. 4:42you're somebody that's like, "Oh, I
  131. 4:43signed up for a comedy school and it it
  132. 4:45helped me." Then, all right, fine. But,
  133. 4:48I just don't think it's a necessary step
  134. 4:51in learning how to become a comedian.
  135. 4:53And I do say this to everyone. If you
  136. 4:55wanted to get into stand-up comedy, it's
  137. 4:58uh
  138. 4:59it's you'll get better. It's not like,
  139. 5:01"Oh my goodness, only the funny people
  140. 5:03do well in stand-up." I know tons of
  141. 5:05very successful comedians that aren't
  142. 5:08funny. And the opposite, I know tons of
  143. 5:11very funny people that are very poor
  144. 5:14stand-up comics.
  145. 5:16All right. Eddie, you got any videos for
  146. 5:17us today?
  147. 5:18I do have a video.
  148. 5:19You do?
  149. 5:20Yeah, let's For people just listening,
  150. 5:22check out our YouTube channel for the
  151. 5:23link.
  152. 5:24What the [ __ ] was that?
  153. 5:27I hope we got paid for that, Eddie.
  154. 5:29All right, let's see what we got here.
  155. 5:37You know, this should be next year's
  156. 5:38Super Bowl halftime show.
  157. 5:40Is this Hamilton?
  158. 5:41No, I think this is the Fire Festival.
  159. 5:44I see what you did. I see what you
  160. 5:46brought me back. The Fire Festival. You
  161. 5:48remember that?
  162. 5:50Huh? More like Liar Festival. Am I
  163. 5:53right? That guy conned everybody. Oh,
  164. 5:56man. Well,
  165. 5:58you're in luck.
  166. 5:59Today's guest has been in prison for the
  167. 6:02past 4 years for producing the worst
  168. 6:05concert ever.
  169. 6:06Enjoy.
  170. 6:09Car show.
  171. 6:12My guest today is the co-creator of the
  172. 6:14greatest music festival. He was the star
  173. 6:16of two very popular documentaries and he
  174. 6:19was sued for a hundred million for
  175. 6:21spending millions of your parents'
  176. 6:23money. Our first convicted felon, huh?
  177. 6:27Woo! Please welcome Billy McFarland.
  178. 6:29Thank you, Daniel.
  179. 6:30All right. Now, let let's get right to
  180. 6:31it. This is the first question I ask all
  181. 6:34my guests. How was jail?
  182. 6:36Uh really terrible. I did 10 months in
  183. 6:38solitary confinement. Um seven for
  184. 6:40trying to do a podcast from the
  185. 6:42payphone. So, it feels a while to be in
  186. 6:45Los Angeles with you doing a podcast and
  187. 6:46not in solitary.
  188. 6:47So, wait, hold. You were put in solitary
  189. 6:50for trying to do a podcast?
  190. 6:52For 7 months.
  191. 6:53Now, isn't the goal in jail
  192. 6:56to get your own space?
  193. 6:59So,
  194. 7:00On some level?
  195. 7:01They they they outsmarted me there.
  196. 7:02There was a guy who got into a shootout
  197. 7:04with the police and he lost his colon.
  198. 7:06Um he was named Bags because he didn't
  199. 7:08have a bag. So, they made him my
  200. 7:10cellmate in solitary confinement. So,
  201. 7:12every 30 minutes the toilet was probably
  202. 7:15a foot and a half of my bed. It had to
  203. 7:16be used. So, yeah, they found a way to
  204. 7:18make it worse.
  205. 7:18How did the podcast do uh coming out of
  206. 7:20prison?
  207. 7:22Just like you got you got a lot of subs?
  208. 7:23An hour after the trailer came out, they
  209. 7:26just like some beefy guard came to my
  210. 7:27cell like, "McFarland, get your ass over
  211. 7:29here." And that was the that was the end
  212. 7:31of it. Didn't go much further than
  213. 7:32You're you're a large man, right?
  214. 7:35Decently decently large.
  215. 7:36Did you like do anything to yourself to
  216. 7:38make your image look a little tougher
  217. 7:39when you were Were you the clink?
  218. 7:40No, my glasses were like really crooked
  219. 7:42cuz you couldn't really change them out.
  220. 7:43So I looked like a super nerd. Everybody
  221. 7:45thought I was a pedophile until they
  222. 7:46asked me my real name.
  223. 7:47What, just cuz you had glasses on?
  224. 7:48That's That's the the look of a
  225. 7:50pedophile?
  226. 7:50a white guy
  227. 7:54I don't know about you, but a white guy
  228. 7:55in jail with no tattoos and all of his
  229. 7:57teeth, usually you're a pedophile.
  230. 7:59[ __ ]
  231. 8:00That There's the tell. All right, let's
  232. 8:03talk. Let's How long were you in jail?
  233. 8:054 years.
  234. 8:064 exactly?
  235. 8:07plus or minus a month.
  236. 8:09Wouldn't you know?
  237. 8:104 years and month and a half, but who's
  238. 8:11counting?
  239. 8:12Was it Was it 4 years and a month and a
  240. 8:13half?
  241. 8:14Yes.
  242. 8:14I mean, that's a long [ __ ] time.
  243. 8:16time. I lost half my 20s, deservedly so,
  244. 8:18but yeah. So now I'm trying to catch up.
  245. 8:19Oh, look at you. So you you you feel
  246. 8:22like you deserved it.
  247. 8:23I absolutely deserved it. Totally messed
  248. 8:25up.
  249. 8:25Now, I I don't know enough
  250. 8:28about the situation to think that you
  251. 8:30completely deserved it because
  252. 8:32in my head, you were seeking people to
  253. 8:35invest. Tell me where I'm wrong. Seeking
  254. 8:37people to invest and like all
  255. 8:40investments, sometimes they work out and
  256. 8:42sometimes they don't.
  257. 8:44So where I went wrong was I told
  258. 8:46investors we were doing far better than
  259. 8:48we actually were. So I lied to the
  260. 8:50investors, but what people don't know is
  261. 8:52even if the event worked, I still would
  262. 8:53have gone to jail. Like the event we
  263. 8:55actually tried. So the scam wasn't the
  264. 8:57event, the scam was me lying to the
  265. 8:59investors.
  266. 8:59So even if it would have gone off
  267. 9:01completely without a hitch
  268. 9:02I'm I'm still with bags in solitary.
  269. 9:05Are you even if it was profitable?
  270. 9:07Even if it was profitable.
  271. 9:08Even if it was profitable.
  272. 9:09Like if I told you, "Hey Daniel, you
  273. 9:10know, I have $10 million in my bank
  274. 9:11account, give me 1,000 bucks." And even
  275. 9:14if I returned to you $2,000, I still
  276. 9:15lied. I don't have $10 million in my
  277. 9:16account after last night, so.
  278. 9:17What do you say to people that they call
  279. 9:19you a con? I mean, is that That's not
  280. 9:21what you set out to do.
  281. 9:22I've been called so many things and like
  282. 9:24that's the only thing I don't like.
  283. 9:25That's the only thing you don't like.
  284. 9:26That's the only thing I don't like.
  285. 9:27Everything else is like, yeah, I I
  286. 9:28[ __ ] up in so many ways, but
  287. 9:30But you weren't deliberately trying to
  288. 9:32con people.
  289. 9:32It wasn't like this great con. I don't
  290. 9:33want to get over on people. I think I'm
  291. 9:35obsessed with trying to give people a
  292. 9:37good time and bring them together and
  293. 9:39I'm childish and naive and do a lot of
  294. 9:40stupid things to try to make it happen,
  295. 9:41but the intention is good, but it
  296. 9:43doesn't make the crime okay.
  297. 9:44Did you have to get authorization to
  298. 9:46leave the state of New York to travel
  299. 9:48here today and am I responsible for you?
  300. 9:51Yes to all the above, had permission,
  301. 9:54Daniel Natasha's name always secures the
  302. 9:55deal there and yes, you're responsible
  303. 9:57for all my behavior, so.
  304. 10:01Total hypothetical, I give you $10
  305. 10:03million today.
  306. 10:05All all through legal means, how long
  307. 10:08before you could double it?
  308. 10:09How long before you can double it? Oh
  309. 10:11god, I'd probably blow it in like 3
  310. 10:12weeks.
  311. 10:13Oh.
  312. 10:15That's not what I wanted to hear. That's
  313. 10:16not what I wanted to hear.
  314. 10:18Give it to me, I'm not going to jail.
  315. 10:19No. What do your parents do?
  316. 10:21They're they live in New Jersey, so very
  317. 10:22regular family, they do real estate.
  318. 10:24You grew up in New Jersey, do you feel
  319. 10:26that had something to do with the fact
  320. 10:28that you ended up in prison?
  321. 10:29I think I had to prove that all New
  322. 10:31Jersey people weren't terrible, but I
  323. 10:32think I proved it to be true.
  324. 10:34Nurture versus nature.
  325. 10:37Yeah, I mean it's not your fault.
  326. 10:38It's not my fault.
  327. 10:39You're born in New Jersey, you're going
  328. 10:41to end up in jail.
  329. 10:42in the armpit, you're going to you're
  330. 10:42going to end up someplace gross, like.
  331. 10:44Was it prison or was it um minimum
  332. 10:47security? What's going on there?
  333. 10:48Started at minimum security, uh got in
  334. 10:50trouble twice. I flew on Con Air three
  335. 10:53times where they shackle you on an
  336. 10:54airplane. That was kind of wild.
  337. 10:55What was it a just an airplane full of
  338. 10:57criminals?
  339. 10:58Full of criminals.
  340. 10:59That's awesome.
  341. 11:00Shackled by the ankles, your hand
  342. 11:01shackled here and then they put me on a
  343. 11:03bus for 17 hours from Oklahoma to
  344. 11:05Detroit, shackled, so you couldn't pee
  345. 11:07for 17 hours. That was kind of brutal.
  346. 11:10And and you and you didn't pee?
  347. 11:11No, you could I mean you're literally
  348. 11:13shackled.
  349. 11:13But they don't they don't care if you
  350. 11:14pee yourself?
  351. 11:15not.
  352. 11:16How did you survive that?
  353. 11:17kind of brutal, right?
  354. 11:18That sounds it sounds I mean it's worse
  355. 11:20than a nightmare.
  356. 11:21I fell asleep on the shoulder of the guy
  357. 11:22next to me and I woke up and said, "Hey,
  358. 11:24what did you do?" He goes, "I made
  359. 11:25bombs." I'm like, "Oh, maybe I'm not
  360. 11:26going to sleep on your shoulder
  361. 11:27anymore."
  362. 11:31Did you meet anybody in prison that was
  363. 11:33convicted of murder?
  364. 11:36I did meet some murderers, yes.
  365. 11:38How is your relationship with Ja today?
  366. 11:40Uh non-existent.
  367. 11:41Yeah?
  368. 11:41Yeah.
  369. 11:42How did he get off completely?
  370. 11:44Did he What was the ramifications of his
  371. 11:46role?
  372. 11:46Uh I don't think anything.
  373. 11:47That's weird. That might be the first
  374. 11:49time in history that a white
  375. 11:51white-collared guy goes to prison and
  376. 11:54then the black rapper free as a bird.
  377. 11:57he was a little smarter. He'd gone to
  378. 11:58jail before, so he knew the inner
  379. 12:00workings of how the how the system went
  380. 12:01down after that.
  381. 12:02All right. Should we Should we get into
  382. 12:03the Fire Let me just get into the
  383. 12:04festival. You were 23 when you organized
  384. 12:07the Fire Festival. Who in the [ __ ] gives
  385. 12:08a 23-year-old
  386. 12:10that kind of money?
  387. 12:11I think this is the most embarrassing
  388. 12:12part of the story. Most of the investors
  389. 12:14had backed me for four or five years.
  390. 12:16So, they'd seen me go through little
  391. 12:19wins and little losses along the way.
  392. 12:21And I violated their trust. When I said,
  393. 12:22"Hey, this this one's going to be the
  394. 12:23biggest." Like, yes, I was right, but I
  395. 12:25was wrong about how big it was going to
  396. 12:26be. So.
  397. 12:26I mean, I just feel like they're the
  398. 12:28ones that are at fault. I would just cut
  399. 12:32a check to a 23-year-old
  400. 12:34is just grossly negligent on their part.
  401. 12:38So, you're not going to give me the $10
  402. 12:39million.
  403. 12:40No, you're not 23 anymore. Now you're
  404. 12:42Now you're How old are you?
  405. 12:4432.
  406. 12:4532.
  407. 12:45Yeah.
  408. 12:46All right. I am um
  409. 12:48uh
  410. 12:49just background for me uh
  411. 12:52don't enjoy going to see live music. A
  412. 12:55festival seems like a nightmare to me.
  413. 12:58Uh the best festival in the world versus
  414. 13:01Mhm.
  415. 13:02what you tried to put on to me doesn't
  416. 13:04seem that different.
  417. 13:06Yeah.
  418. 13:06You're [ __ ] outside, accommodations
  419. 13:09are garbage.
  420. 13:10I've only gone to one music festival in
  421. 13:11my entire life. That's That's a red
  422. 13:12flag. I went to Coachella one time.
  423. 13:14Did you enjoy it?
  424. 13:15No, it sucked.
  425. 13:18It's hot.
  426. 13:19Uh but the the women, they dress so so
  427. 13:21provocatively.
  428. 13:22to like meet this girl and it didn't
  429. 13:23work out, so I had a bad time, and that
  430. 13:24was my only music festival ever. And
  431. 13:26from that, I thought I could do Fire.
  432. 13:27Makes a lot of sense.
  433. 13:28Did you see the press? They're not
  434. 13:28selling any tickets this year.
  435. 13:30At Coachella?
  436. 13:30Yeah. It was all over the news and
  437. 13:32nobody was buying.
  438. 13:32Yeah, I know.
  439. 13:33Like I've done Bonnaroo.
  440. 13:34Really?
  441. 13:34Did not It's awful.
  442. 13:36Will you perform at fire, too?
  443. 13:38No, but I'll let you say that I'm going
  444. 13:39to be there.
  445. 13:40Oh, that's so sad.
  446. 13:41Can't you do that thing where you where
  447. 13:42you say like lineup subject to change
  448. 13:44and you and you you promote me,
  449. 13:46Yeah.
  450. 13:47but I don't show up?
  451. 13:48First headliner announced, Daniel Tosh.
  452. 13:51I don't know that I would sell I don't
  453. 13:53know that I think I would move the
  454. 13:54needle for you at the festival.
  455. 13:56yesterday? Is your special saying that
  456. 13:58no one ever is sad in a wave runner.
  457. 13:59Uh-huh.
  458. 14:00I couldn't relate more, so I feel like I
  459. 14:01have to do that at the fire festival.
  460. 14:03Are you So you are going to do a second
  461. 14:05We are.
  462. 14:05Uh-huh. We are. Oh, Jesus. Why not start
  463. 14:08smart smaller and not go like swing for
  464. 14:11the fences here?
  465. 14:11I just like want to create an incredible
  466. 14:13experience, but I also want to pay
  467. 14:14everybody back what I owe.
  468. 14:15How much do you owe?
  469. 14:16Uh it's like between 26 and 28 million.
  470. 14:19It kind of changes by the hour.
  471. 14:20So you do still have to pay this back?
  472. 14:22Yeah, every month I literally have to
  473. 14:23like give a check back to the investors
  474. 14:26and then they get a percentage of all
  475. 14:27the business revenue, too. So, you know,
  476. 14:29if fire two makes 100 bucks, like a
  477. 14:30percentage of that goes back to them.
  478. 14:32Is there any way that you could be free
  479. 14:33and clear in one big festival?
  480. 14:35It'll probably take like three or four
  481. 14:37festivals to pay that back. I have
  482. 14:39partners who like, you know, are owned
  483. 14:41significant pieces of it, so yeah.
  484. 14:42Did you ever in your wildest dreams
  485. 14:44think you'd be in the hole 26 million
  486. 14:46dollars?
  487. 14:47I think it's just past the point of like
  488. 14:49being tangible, right? It's just so
  489. 14:50much, so it's at least for me. Maybe not
  490. 14:53for you.
  491. 14:53I always think like I always
  492. 14:55hypothetically like if I'm playing with
  493. 14:57a deck of cards. Do you gamble?
  494. 14:59Not really.
  495. 14:59I like will like pretend like okay, I'm
  496. 15:01going to put two million on this hand.
  497. 15:03Yeah.
  498. 15:03And then I lose. And then I'm like well,
  499. 15:04I'll put more.
  500. 15:05Let's play. Cuz if I lose it just
  501. 15:07becomes 30 million. If you lose, then
  502. 15:08we're then we're good.
  503. 15:09Well, I just I'm I'm just wondering if
  504. 15:11you're like you could just double your
  505. 15:14double down.
  506. 15:15I'd have to give me the 28 to try to
  507. 15:17play with.
  508. 15:17If I gave you if I gave you 20 million
  509. 15:19dollars, you you would put it down on a
  510. 15:20hand?
  511. 15:20No, never.
  512. 15:21I wouldn't let you give it to me. I
  513. 15:23don't want to I don't want to go to
  514. 15:24jail.
  515. 15:24Cut you a check What? I don't You don't
  516. 15:26go to jail. If I cut you a check for $25
  517. 15:28million
  518. 15:28and you find a casino that takes your
  519. 15:30action, one hand of blackjack, to become
  520. 15:33even.
  521. 15:34I would like not be able to sleep for a
  522. 15:35while if I [ __ ] you up.
  523. 15:37Well, let's let's let's say you win.
  524. 15:38[ __ ] anybody over.
  525. 15:39Let's say you win. You pay back your
  526. 15:41debt. You're at zero now. What do you do
  527. 15:43with your career?
  528. 15:44I'm still doing Fire Twerk. Like I just
  529. 15:46have to do it. I have to show people
  530. 15:47like what the dream was.
  531. 15:48I mean, whose dream are we talking
  532. 15:50about?
  533. 15:51I rented an airstrip in New York like 2
  534. 15:53months ago and did a concert on the
  535. 15:55airstrip and took people up in a plane
  536. 15:56that probably shouldn't be allowed to
  537. 15:57fly for zero gravity flights and that
  538. 15:59worked really well. So, I convinced
  539. 16:00myself that we can just go bigger now.
  540. 16:01I mean, just you're so ambitious. And it
  541. 16:04hasn't hasn't dropped off. Yeah, I mean,
  542. 16:05are you slowing down as you're aging? Do
  543. 16:07you feel like, "Okay, now I've got a
  544. 16:08better perspective on things?"
  545. 16:10I went to jail like totally broke, lost
  546. 16:1285% of my friends, and I'm just like so
  547. 16:14scared of being that powerless again. It
  548. 16:16just [ __ ] freaks me out.
  549. 16:1785% of your friends?
  550. 16:19Yeah.
  551. 16:20I don't even know what that means. If I
  552. 16:21lost 85% of my friends, like is that I
  553. 16:23lost two friends?
  554. 16:24I mean, I I probably had 10 and now I
  555. 16:26had one and a half after.
  556. 16:27Yeah, that's
  557. 16:28all you need is two friends. All you
  558. 16:29need is two friends.
  559. 16:30Yeah. Seems pretty much.
  560. 16:32How How upset were your parents?
  561. 16:33Super upset. Yeah, that's the hardest
  562. 16:35part. There's family just gets unfair
  563. 16:37punishment.
  564. 16:38Yeah, that's a tough one. But they But
  565. 16:40they they still supported you or no?
  566. 16:42I mean, it's tough. They're embarrassed,
  567. 16:43right? It's like your son is a total
  568. 16:45[ __ ] up, so it's hard.
  569. 16:46I mean, I'm part of me would be like,
  570. 16:48"Yeah, it was pretty
  571. 16:50pretty ballsy kid."
  572. 16:52Biggest win.
  573. 16:53Yeah, big big swing.
  574. 16:54I gave him those balls, honey.
  575. 16:56Yeah.
  576. 16:57Didn't happen.
  577. 16:58At what point were you like, "I can't
  578. 17:00stop this" and you just had to wait for
  579. 17:02the wheels to fall off?
  580. 17:03Uh I was at the festival, the first
  581. 17:05thousand people had arrived, and my like
  582. 17:07number two at the company came up and
  583. 17:09said three people had died. Uh it was
  584. 17:10not true at all. No one was hurt. And he
  585. 17:12had told me these elaborate stories
  586. 17:13about how they were One got bit by a pig
  587. 17:15and blood out, two got shot, and like
  588. 17:17none of this is even remotely true. And
  589. 17:18at that point I'm like, "Okay, let's
  590. 17:20turn these planes around and get
  591. 17:21everybody home."
  592. 17:22Why did someone tell you in the first
  593. 17:23place that three festival goers died?
  594. 17:26They probably thought that was the only
  595. 17:27way to get me to stop it. So they were
  596. 17:28like, "Let's scare Billy and tell him
  597. 17:30that."
  598. 17:31okay. So they were like, "Listen, this
  599. 17:33is bad."
  600. 17:33he just isn't listening, but
  601. 17:35But somehow you conned all the like the
  602. 17:37world's hottest models uh to promote
  603. 17:39this thing. And then and that made me
  604. 17:41laugh. Uh
  605. 17:44because
  606. 17:44Not funny, then, is it?
  607. 17:45That couldn't have been hard. Um but
  608. 17:49But but do you think do you think
  609. 17:50they'll be back?
  610. 17:51So prior to messing up the big one, we
  611. 17:53did like 20 mini Fire Festival trips
  612. 17:55that went really well. And I think
  613. 17:57that's what created all this like
  614. 17:58marketing hype. So I want to get back to
  615. 18:00what I'm good at and just like get help
  616. 18:01to do it do it right. But yeah, I've no
  617. 18:03idea who's going to be there, but people
  618. 18:04are going to have fun.
  619. 18:05You're like Pete Davidson.
  620. 18:07Is that good or bad?
  621. 18:07Well, I just good in that like you
  622. 18:09somehow
  623. 18:10I don't think my dick's that big,
  624. 18:11though, so
  625. 18:12Oh, is I I don't I would I bet What if
  626. 18:14he great if his penis wasn't that big?
  627. 18:16And he's like, "This guy's just sweet."
  628. 18:20Did you have a pri- Who was your fav-
  629. 18:22Who was your favorite model that you you
  630. 18:24got to
  631. 18:25Oh, this is This is This is a dangerous
  632. 18:26question.
  633. 18:27Are you in a relationship?
  634. 18:28Uh yeah.
  635. 18:29You are?
  636. 18:29Yeah.
  637. 18:30Somebody fell in love with you while
  638. 18:31you're behind bars?
  639. 18:32Right before.
  640. 18:33Oh, and and you made them wait for you?
  641. 18:35Yeah, that's kind of [ __ ] up, right?
  642. 18:36That's messed up.
  643. 18:37Yeah.
  644. 18:38Uh
  645. 18:38That's wrong, I think.
  646. 18:39No, okay, but so so you're in a serious
  647. 18:40relationship. That doesn't matter. In a
  648. 18:42relationship, you can still
  649. 18:43have a conversation who you think is the
  650. 18:45prettiest uh model out of a list of
  651. 18:48models that I just read off.
  652. 18:49I think Bella was the most fun. She just
  653. 18:51did the most like cool activities.
  654. 18:52That wouldn't be my pick.
  655. 18:53Who do you like?
  656. 18:54Rajek Kackowski.
  657. 18:56Oh.
  658. 18:56I I think I think she's really pretty.
  659. 18:58It'd be funny, too, to get some of these
  660. 19:00models the same models that now they're
  661. 19:02you know, they've they've they've lived
  662. 19:04life.
  663. 19:04Yeah.
  664. 19:07Fire Festival, too. They got their kids
  665. 19:09with them.
  666. 19:11They get yelled at. It'll be a funny
  667. 19:12video.
  668. 19:13Their kids are pulling at their legs.
  669. 19:15They're like, "Oh, Mom, put something
  670. 19:16on."
  671. 19:17Oh my god.
  672. 19:18Put a wrap on, at least. By the way, I'm
  673. 19:20just guessing that you watched the
  674. 19:22documentary.
  675. 19:23I have not.
  676. 19:23You honestly have not watched either.
  677. 19:26I can't do it.
  678. 19:27I watched one of them.
  679. 19:29Okay. I'm sorry for you.
  680. 19:30No, it was it was enjoyable.
  681. 19:31It was enjoyable?
  682. 19:33Wow.
  683. 19:33I mean, it was I watched
  684. 19:35a lot of things.
  685. 19:35Which one did I like? Uh which one did I
  686. 19:37watch, Eddie?
  687. 19:38The one on Netflix that has the guy in
  688. 19:40it that
  689. 19:40Netflix. I watched the guy one on
  690. 19:41Netflix. The guy that yeah, that said he
  691. 19:44had a had to blow the guy at customs,
  692. 19:47which I don't know if he actually did or
  693. 19:48didn't, but I found him delightful.
  694. 19:50So, do you know how I found out about
  695. 19:51that story ever happening? A prison
  696. 19:53guard comes up to me and goes, "Hey, you
  697. 19:55can tell me, did you force some guy to
  698. 19:56blow someone for official government
  699. 19:58officer to release water at customs?"
  700. 19:59Like, "Wait, what?" Like, I never heard
  701. 20:01about this ever happening until other
  702. 20:02police officer tried to question me.
  703. 20:04I can't believe you didn't watch it. Are
  704. 20:05you you think you'll never watch one of
  705. 20:07those documentaries?
  706. 20:07No.
  707. 20:08How in the world I don't believe you.
  708. 20:10I would just get so mad and
  709. 20:11you'll get mad, but why wouldn't you
  710. 20:12watch it?
  711. 20:13Because it would take away from the real
  712. 20:14point, right? I [ __ ] up and just
  713. 20:15because like someone said it did
  714. 20:16something that may or may not be true.
  715. 20:17Like, it just I'm not mature enough to
  716. 20:19to handle it.
  717. 20:20Yeah, but I don't think you're mature
  718. 20:21enough not to watch it.
  719. 20:23I am.
  720. 20:24That's crazy to me.
  721. 20:25just scared. They all watched it in jail
  722. 20:26one day and then I went outside all
  723. 20:27alone and the rest of the jail they they
  724. 20:29snuck in a USB drive and they watched it
  725. 20:31on the TV and I'm outside alone like
  726. 20:32ooh.
  727. 20:33Which one did they bring in? The Netflix
  728. 20:35one? Yeah, it's the better one. Were So,
  729. 20:37were you in jail when that came out?
  730. 20:39Did they try to reach out to you like
  731. 20:41for some
  732. 20:42any reporters or anything like that?
  733. 20:43A little bit. It was kind of a [ __ ]
  734. 20:44show, but it was it was it was
  735. 20:45Where were you? In Ohio?
  736. 20:47Uh I that one I was in New York and then
  737. 20:49I went to Ohio and then right outside
  738. 20:51Detroit, Michigan.
  739. 20:52What's what's the best state to be in
  740. 20:53prison in?
  741. 20:54I like the Detroit one the most because
  742. 20:55they're probably the most like
  743. 20:56gangbangers there, so they were more
  744. 20:57concerned about them and left me alone.
  745. 20:59What's See? Detroit, another win.
  746. 21:02Real real real problems to worry about.
  747. 21:04Well, let Billy do nothing in his cell.
  748. 21:06Where was the food worse? Prison or the
  749. 21:08Fyre Festival?
  750. 21:10Ooh, so probably
  751. 21:12probably the Fyre Festival. In jail, uh
  752. 21:15I had a great Mexican cellmate. He
  753. 21:16didn't really speak a lot of English,
  754. 21:17but he cooked me quesadillas with a
  755. 21:19clothes iron every day. So, he like
  756. 21:21stole a clothes iron from the laundry
  757. 21:22room and would grill quesadillas in our
  758. 21:24cell. They're pretty good.
  759. 21:25Unbelievable.
  760. 21:27Living large.
  761. 21:28Good gig. Did they Was there any
  762. 21:30entertainment? Do you like put on any
  763. 21:32shows for your
  764. 21:32People fighting, people getting high and
  765. 21:34like collapsing and that was kind of the
  766. 21:35daily daily
  767. 21:36Did you fight ever?
  768. 21:37Not really, no.
  769. 21:38Oh, it's good.
  770. 21:39watch.
  771. 21:40Did you have to cheer? Did you have to
  772. 21:41cheer for the white people?
  773. 21:43Sometimes, yeah. That's kind of the
  774. 21:44problem. I would cheer for the wrong guy
  775. 21:46and then they'd get mad.
  776. 21:47Yeah. That all man, I everything about
  777. 21:49jail stresses me out.
  778. 21:51Did you do a lot of crying in prison?
  779. 21:53A little bit.
  780. 21:54I would cry all the time.
  781. 21:55The toughest guy there would cry a lot,
  782. 21:56so that made me feel like it was okay.
  783. 21:58Is that what you needed? You needed
  784. 21:59validation?
  785. 22:00Yeah, for sure. When when the guy who's
  786. 22:02killed more people than I've than we've
  787. 22:04talked to is there crying every night, I
  788. 22:05think it's okay to cry.
  789. 22:06Well, he's got stuff to cry about. Got
  790. 22:08demons in his ears.
  791. 22:09a video he chopped a guy's head off with
  792. 22:10a machete and he played soccer with his
  793. 22:11head. And you're allowed to have your
  794. 22:13like legal materials, so he would show
  795. 22:15people the video to scare them.
  796. 22:19I thought you were in a minimum security
  797. 22:21prison.
  798. 22:21in in the Brooklyn Detention Center, so
  799. 22:23there was all
  800. 22:25Oh my gosh. Yeah.
  801. 22:26What's the first thing you ate when you
  802. 22:27got out of prison?
  803. 22:28Uh
  804. 22:29shrimp from Costco.
  805. 22:32Oh man, shrimp from Costco.
  806. 22:36Everybody seafood from Costco all the
  807. 22:38Yeah, salmon all the time. They got
  808. 22:40great salmon there, Billy.
  809. 22:41They had great salmon.
  810. 22:42Big slabs of salmon just to and then he
  811. 22:45gets the the kit for the Caesar and I'm
  812. 22:47just like, oh god, we're all going to
  813. 22:49[ __ ] ourselves.
  814. 22:49My family gave me a Timberland wallet
  815. 22:51with $200 in 20s in it and said you're
  816. 22:53good to go. So, I couldn't really get
  817. 22:56that far.
  818. 22:57Oh, when you got out of prison?
  819. 22:59out, so hence the Costco shrimp. I
  820. 23:00really wanted shrimp.
  821. 23:01Did you get Did you get the Do they give
  822. 23:03you the bag of like the the of the stuff
  823. 23:05that you had on your persons when you
  824. 23:07walked in? They do?
  825. 23:08Oh, no, no, no. No, they give you the
  826. 23:10bag of what you had in jail. So, a
  827. 23:11couple of like sweatpants and notebooks.
  828. 23:13What misconceptions
  829. 23:15uh do people have about jail that you're
  830. 23:17like, "No, that's not the way it is"?
  831. 23:19like as a kid you're taught that there
  832. 23:20are good people and bad people. I think
  833. 23:22it's like not true. There's probably
  834. 23:23like 2% of the population who are
  835. 23:25actually psychopaths, and everybody else
  836. 23:26is just
  837. 23:28somewhere on that spectrum of doing
  838. 23:29something stupid in their life and I
  839. 23:31think most people were like good people
  840. 23:32who just didn't have opportunity in life
  841. 23:34and like they sold drugs and got 15
  842. 23:36years for it and now they're stuck,
  843. 23:37right? But, it's hard to hard to blame
  844. 23:39some of them.
  845. 23:40No, I I mean
  846. 23:41how desperate you are, how bad your
  847. 23:43circumstances are often lead to going to
  848. 23:45jail, but most people in there are
  849. 23:46actually not bad, and that was a huge
  850. 23:48eye-opener.
  851. 23:49My normal first question that I ask
  852. 23:50everyone, do you believe in ghosts?
  853. 23:52No.
  854. 23:55Do you?
  855. 23:56No.
  856. 23:59Top five favorite Billies.
  857. 24:01Uh Waverunner Billie, number one.
  858. 24:03Pretending like I know how to fly and
  859. 24:04scaring people in the back of the plane,
  860. 24:05number two.
  861. 24:06No, no, no, no.
  862. 24:07I don't know what the [ __ ] you're
  863. 24:08talking about. Um
  864. 24:10famous people named Billie.
  865. 24:12Billy the Kid.
  866. 24:13Billy the Kid.
  867. 24:14Yeah.
  868. 24:14Okay, a criminal. Great.
  869. 24:15Yeah, Wild Bill.
  870. 24:17What another What is Oh, this is
  871. 24:19This is great, right? Um Who else is
  872. 24:20there?
  873. 24:21Billy Corgan.
  874. 24:22Bill Gates.
  875. 24:23Bill Gates, Bill Shatner, if you know
  876. 24:25him well.
  877. 24:26Don't, but there you go.
  878. 24:28That's cool. It's a good list.
  879. 24:29Billy Madison.
  880. 24:30Nice.
  881. 24:31Billy on the Street.
  882. 24:32I don't know him.
  883. 24:32Eichner.
  884. 24:33Okay. I don't know him.
  885. 24:34He goes on New York and he ask I don't
  886. 24:36know. It doesn't matter. It's funny in
  887. 24:37the street. He's funny.
  888. 24:38Sounds like where I'm going to end up
  889. 24:39pretty soon.
  890. 24:41Where are you living currently?
  891. 24:42living in New York. We're back.
  892. 24:44You got your own place?
  893. 24:44Yeah.
  894. 24:45You living with your girlfriend?
  895. 24:47No, some nights she's there, but she has
  896. 24:48her own place, too.
  897. 24:49Oh, a little safety house.
  898. 24:52For me, mostly.
  899. 24:53Case Case things go wrong.
  900. 24:54Case things go bad.
  901. 24:55How long did you wait to uh from when
  902. 24:59you were released to make love to your
  903. 25:02girlfriend? How long of a wait was that?
  904. 25:05You're going to get me in trouble. Um
  905. 25:07Why would you get in trouble?
  906. 25:08I was in the halfway house.
  907. 25:10Oh, you're not supposed to make love in
  908. 25:11the halfway house?
  909. 25:12No, but we made it work.
  910. 25:13Okay.
  911. 25:14Made it work in jail, too, a couple
  912. 25:15times.
  913. 25:15Oh, did you? You got You got conjugal
  914. 25:17visits?
  915. 25:17No, but made it work a couple times. Not
  916. 25:19supposed to talk about that, either.
  917. 25:19Oh, that's interesting.
  918. 25:21Did she Did you do that thing where she
  919. 25:22mashed her boob up against the glass?
  920. 25:24No, it was for real.
  921. 25:25Oh. Your gift seems to be raising money.
  922. 25:28So, why don't you just focus on that and
  923. 25:31like just raise money for charities.
  924. 25:33That would really do a a good PR 360.
  925. 25:36idea. Thank you, Daniel. Let's start one
  926. 25:38together.
  927. 25:39A charity?
  928. 25:39Yeah.
  929. 25:40With you.
  930. 25:41I'll do the fundraising and you And you
  931. 25:42do everything else.
  932. 25:43No, I'm not doing that. Hey, um I always
  933. 25:46give people a gift that's on my show,
  934. 25:47something for my house. I thought I
  935. 25:49would just give you a blank check.
  936. 25:51Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea,
  937. 25:52Daniel.
  938. 25:52You don't think he should have my
  939. 25:53information?
  940. 25:54No, maybe uh no.
  941. 25:56You I You guys are giving me way too
  942. 25:57much credit.
  943. 25:57All right, fine. I won't give him the
  944. 25:59blank check.
  945. 26:00Damn.
  946. 26:01I'm going to give you
  947. 26:03a used
  948. 26:05Ferrari.
  949. 26:06No way.
  950. 26:07But it's my son's.
  951. 26:08Um I don't want to Now I want to screw
  952. 26:09your son over?
  953. 26:10Nope.
  954. 26:11We're screwing you over. You thought you
  955. 26:13were getting a real Ferrari, but we're
  956. 26:14giving you a used toy Ferrari and
  957. 26:17guess what?
  958. 26:19Guess what?
  959. 26:19Yeah?
  960. 26:20Batteries are dead.
  961. 26:21No problem.
  962. 26:23So, you're on your own.
  963. 26:24I've worked so hard for one of these.
  964. 26:25Hold on, I got another gift for you. I
  965. 26:27don't know what you'll do with it, but
  966. 26:28if you go to prison again, I want you to
  967. 26:29bring it.
  968. 26:29A shank?
  969. 26:30Um no.
  970. 26:30Damn.
  971. 26:31This is a photo of me and my wife on a
  972. 26:34roller coaster at Dollywood.
  973. 26:35Wow.
  974. 26:38Now, the reason I want you to have that
  975. 26:39photo is because that's more fun than
  976. 26:42any music festival.
  977. 26:47You go to Dollywood, they've got shows,
  978. 26:50they've got they have roller coasters.
  979. 26:53Ah, it's just the time of your life.
  980. 26:54Daniel
  981. 26:55Yeah.
  982. 26:55Can we get on the phone with my
  983. 26:56probation officer?
  984. 26:57Put this on the floor. I don't want this
  985. 26:58on the
  986. 26:58Get permission to go to the island right
  987. 27:00now and then you can reassess this
  988. 27:02judgment you're making.
  989. 27:03You're telling me that your island's
  990. 27:04going to be better than than
  991. 27:06Thunderhead, the roller coaster at
  992. 27:08Dollywood? All right, you put that on
  993. 27:10the floor. You keep that. Yeah, you keep
  994. 27:12that's yours. I want you to put that on
  995. 27:13in your cell.
  996. 27:14Now I can show people I actually have
  997. 27:15friends.
  998. 27:16All right, have you ever been to
  999. 27:16Dollywood?
  1000. 27:17No.
  1001. 27:17It's delightful.
  1002. 27:19I want to go.
  1003. 27:19Yeah.
  1004. 27:20All right, let's do it.
1005. 27:21I would I'll definitely go back to
  1006. 27:22Dollywood again. Will I will I go with
1007. 27:23you? No, I got to I got to lug my whole
  1008. 27:25family. It's a nightmare.
1009. 27:26So you can't trace me to your family.
1010. 27:27I'll introduce to my family. Huh, I
  1011. 27:29don't give a [ __ ] I'm not going to let
  1012. 27:30you watch my kids.
  1013. 27:31Really?
1014. 27:31Um, no. I mean I mean if I need to go to
1015. 27:33the bathroom you can watch them.
  1016. 27:35Oh my god.
  1017. 27:35Uh, I don't like bringing them in. It's
  1018. 27:36always weird.
  1019. 27:37I was like 10% as
1020. 27:38stand next to me. Don't touch anything.
1021. 27:39Stand next to me. Don't touch anything.
1022. 27:40And the next thing I I look over and my
1023. 27:42son's like trying like just like I'm
  1024. 27:44lean against anyway.
1025. 27:46You going to have kids someday?
  1026. 27:47I think so.
  1027. 27:48Probably not yet.
1028. 27:49You going to scrub the internet first?
  1029. 27:51No.
1030. 27:53How much money do you have in your How
1031. 27:55much money do you have
  1032. 27:56net worth? What's your current net
  1033. 27:58worth?
  1034. 27:58So what I I owe between 26 and 28
1035. 28:01million. So you know, negative in that
  1036. 28:02range.
1037. 28:03No, but do they they don't allow you to
  1038. 28:05keep any money?
1039. 28:06I can keep money, but I pay a percentage
1040. 28:08of whatever I earn to it. Yeah.
1041. 28:09So are you are you making money yet?
  1042. 28:11A little bit.
  1043. 28:12Your zero gravity [ __ ] how did that
  1044. 28:14go?
  1045. 28:15That work?
  1046. 28:15fun. No one died.
1047. 28:16I mean is that always is that always the
  1048. 28:18bar?
1049. 28:18Yeah, as long as nobody dies.
1050. 28:21As long as nobody gets scammed and
  1051. 28:22nobody dies and
  1052. 28:24we win, baby.
  1053. 28:25Are you
1054. 28:26do you read your Wikipedia page?
  1055. 28:28Never.
  1056. 28:29Okay.
  1057. 28:30It's pretty bad.
1058. 28:30Sorry to bring it up.
  1059. 28:31bad.
1060. 28:31I'll tell you what line one is.
  1061. 28:33Yeah, con man, right?
1062. 28:34It's got the word con in it.
1063. 28:35We were we were negotiating a deal
1064. 28:36yesterday and one of their counter
1065. 28:37points was, "You think we're just going
1066. 28:39to give this much money to someone whose
1067. 28:40Wikipedia page says con man?" And they
1068. 28:42used that to try to get some some
1069. 28:44percentage off on the deal. So
  1070. 28:45Did it work?
1071. 28:46Yeah, it worked. I felt bad, and I was
  1072. 28:47like, all right.
1073. 28:49All right, you guys win.
  1074. 28:51Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's a hard
  1075. 28:52argument.
  1076. 28:53It's a hard argument. Like, you're
  1077. 28:54right. Like, wow.
  1078. 28:55We'll give you a .5 off there.
1079. 28:57Tell me how you really feel. Like,
1080. 28:58Has anyone physically uh threatened you
1081. 29:01that you owe money to?
1082. 29:02They're smart enough to to veil the
1083. 29:03threats pretty well. So, they come off
  1084. 29:05as polite.
  1085. 29:05Uh-huh. But, you but
  1086. 29:06I hope you I hope you're doing great
  1087. 29:07coming back. Where's my [ __ ] money?
1088. 29:09But, you feel the threats?
1089. 29:10A little bit. It's not too crazy,
1090. 29:11though. It hasn't gone to the point
  1091. 29:13where it's bad.
  1092. 29:13Do you sleep well?
  1093. 29:15Sometimes. Not last night.
  1094. 29:17Oh, no?
  1095. 29:17No, it's bad.
1096. 29:18Why was last night bad?
1097. 29:19this is this is a dangerous city for me.
1098. 29:21Th- This is a dangerous city for you?
1099. 29:22I should go back home.
1100. 29:27People seem to overlook your flaws a
1101. 29:28little bit too fast here. So, it's like
  1102. 29:31Maybe I shouldn't be this accepted. I
  1103. 29:33should go back.
1104. 29:33Now, are you allowed to vote anymore?
  1105. 29:35I don't know. That's a That's a good
  1106. 29:38I think no, but there's like they've
1107. 29:40tried to pass new laws to get you back.
1108. 29:41trying to pass new laws, but this is an
1109. 29:43election year, so you probably won't be
1110. 29:44able to vote this year. But, if you had
1111. 29:47a vote, where would your vote
  1112. 29:49I I I wouldn't know what to do.
1113. 29:51You wouldn't know where who to vote?
  1114. 29:52No. I'm really conflicted. Like, Trump
1115. 29:54gave me a year off jail, so that was
  1116. 29:56cool.
  1117. 29:56He did?
1118. 29:57personally. He like passed a law that
  1119. 29:58gave non-violent uh first-time offenders
1120. 30:00a year off. So, like, that's pretty
  1121. 30:01cool. But,
1122. 30:02So, you you got a year knocked off
  1123. 30:04because of Trump. Well, that's worth a
  1124. 30:06vote.
  1125. 30:07Yeah.
1126. 30:08I mean, if if if you told me you were
1127. 30:10going to vote for Trump because he got
1128. 30:12you out of jail a year early, I'd be
  1129. 30:14like, well, I can't can't fault that
  1130. 30:15guy.
1131. 30:15Yeah, it's pretty hard to to say no to
  1132. 30:17that.
  1133. 30:17Biden, step up.
  1134. 30:19Yeah, seriously.
1135. 30:20What could you do for him?
  1136. 30:21$26 million, baby.
  1137. 30:25I'm just kidding.
  1138. 30:27Would you allow
1139. 30:29Ja Rule to perform at Fyre Festival,
  1140. 30:31too?
  1141. 30:31No.
  1142. 30:32Okay.
  1143. 30:33Yeah, we're we're going younger this
  1144. 30:34time around.
  1145. 30:34Well, sure. But, I mean, that'd still be
1146. 30:36a kind of a neat neat nod to uh lessons
  1147. 30:40learned.
  1148. 30:41No?
  1149. 30:42Perhaps.
1150. 30:42How are you actually going to get
1151. 30:43musicians to to show up to this
1152. 30:46festival? Aren't they going to be like
  1153. 30:47so skeptical?
  1154. 30:48Well, that's why I'm here, to get the
1155. 30:49first ones. Like once you come,
1156. 30:50everybody else will follow you.
  1157. 30:51Who do you want? Who's a Who's a dream
  1158. 30:53get?
  1159. 30:54I want Kanye. Kanye, let's do Fyre 2.
  1160. 30:56God, I mean that is perfect.
  1161. 30:59It's perfect.
  1162. 31:00It's absolutely You You
  1163. 31:01Is there anybody better?
1164. 31:02No. Get Kanye. There's no reason he
  1165. 31:05shouldn't do this.
1166. 31:06fits so nicely. What could go wrong?
1167. 31:11Have you ever thought about booking
  1168. 31:12comedians at your festival?
1169. 31:13Uh yeah, we did. Didn't do it, but
1170. 31:15thought about it. Like Like like most of
  1171. 31:17the festival.
1172. 31:18So, this new festival might have a like
  1173. 31:19like a comedy tent? Is that what you're
  1174. 31:21saying?
1175. 31:21Oh, I didn't think of it until now, but
1176. 31:23it'd be great. You could be your
  1177. 31:24headliner.
1178. 31:24No, I'm not going to do it, but
1179. 31:26that's what they have at these
1180. 31:27festivals. They have like a comedy tent.
  1181. 31:29[ __ ] that, let's give you the main
1182. 31:30stage. You'd be floating on the water,
  1183. 31:32glass see-through barge, Daniel Tosh.
1184. 31:34want any of this stuff.
1185. 31:35Everybody's in the WaveRunner smiling.
1186. 31:36Are you doing it on an island again?
1187. 31:38I got to I got to complete the story.
1188. 31:40An American island or no?
1189. 31:41it's Caribbean. But I got to complete
1190. 31:42the narrative. It's got to be back in a
1191. 31:44very similar location to the first one,
1192. 31:46and we just need to execute the dream of
  1193. 31:48Fyre 1.
1194. 31:49You needed You need a longer lead time.
1195. 31:51We have a year now. It's going to be
  1196. 31:52next February.
1197. 31:53You should do it in Why don't you do it
  1198. 31:54on American soil?
  1199. 31:55That's so boring.
1200. 31:56I know it's boring, but like Bonnaroo
  1201. 31:57does it in the [ __ ] whatever shitty
  1202. 31:59Tennessee, and Coachella's out in the
  1203. 32:00desert. Like
1204. 32:01a challenge, Daniel Tosh. We need
1205. 32:02content here. We need We need something
  1206. 32:03to talk about.
1207. 32:04Why do you say my full name, Billy
  1208. 32:05McFarland?
  1209. 32:07Cuz I I revere you as a business
  1210. 32:08advisor.
1211. 32:10You Don't talk to your business advisor
  1212. 32:12that way, either.
  1213. 32:13Okay, Mr. Tosh.
1214. 32:13Do you have Do you have a business
  1215. 32:15advisor?
  1216. 32:16I do.
  1217. 32:16Okay.
1218. 32:17Yeah. He's not as good as you.
  1219. 32:20There's no scenario.
1220. 32:21give me his checkbook, either, so
1221. 32:23So, he kind of sucks.
1222. 32:24How much are tickets going to cost to
  1223. 32:26this new Fyre Festival?
  1224. 32:27Uh starting at 2,500 and
  1225. 32:29Whoa, whoa, whoa. Starting at 2,500.
  1226. 32:32focused on the million-dollar ticket,
  1227. 32:34Daniel Tosh.
  1228. 32:35A million There's a million-dollar
  1229. 32:36ticket?
1230. 32:37There's how many million dollar tickets
  1231. 32:39are there?
1232. 32:39We'll probably sell like 20 or 30 if we
  1233. 32:41can.
1234. 32:41And what do you get with a million
  1235. 32:43dollar ticket?
  1236. 32:44So, you we're partnering with this
1237. 32:46incredible new like condo tower in
  1238. 32:47Miami. So, they'll have like 1 month a
1239. 32:49year in this crazy like firehouse there.
  1240. 32:51And they get to do all the cool [ __ ]
1241. 32:52with me at Fyre. They might die. We're
1242. 32:54going to try to, you know, push the
1243. 32:55boundaries and do tricks in the planes
1244. 32:57and jump out of helicopters and go free
1245. 32:59diving and do all this fun stuff.
1246. 33:012500, what is 2500? Does that get you a
  1247. 33:03plane ticket?
  1248. 33:04Uh you'll go there on a boat.
  1249. 33:06From where?
  1250. 33:07From Miami.
1251. 33:07From Miami you can get there by boat.
  1252. 33:10Okay.
1253. 33:12All right. So, how long is this boat
  1254. 33:13ride?
  1255. 33:14Like 3 hours.
1256. 33:143 hours. All right, so you
1257. 33:16and this is going to be in the Bahamas
1258. 33:18or is it going to be a key or is it
  1259. 33:19It's It's somewhere in the Caribbean.
  1260. 33:20Can't say where yet.
  1261. 33:21Yeah.
1262. 33:22Well, who owns it? Cuz Bahamas we need a
1263. 33:23passport. Do we need a passport for this
  1264. 33:25one?
  1265. 33:26You need a passport, yes.
1266. 33:27Oh, all right. All right, so we need a
  1267. 33:28passport.
  1268. 33:293 hours, we need a passport.
  1269. 33:31give it back. I'm I'm innocent.
  1270. 33:33Oh, you don't have a passport.
  1271. 33:34Okay.
1272. 33:36So, you won't be able to go to your own
  1273. 33:37festival.
  1274. 33:39There There is a chance you guys don't
1275. 33:41give me my passport back. No, I think
1276. 33:42I'll have it back soon. We're working on
  1277. 33:43it diligently.
1278. 33:45I mean, it's pretty easy to leave the
  1279. 33:46country without a passport. Getting back
  1280. 33:48in is a little tricky.
1281. 33:50They would do it. They would throw a
  1282. 33:50celebration, probably. They wouldn't
1283. 33:52worry about his dumb ass.
1284. 33:53How many days is the festival?
  1285. 33:54Uh 3 days. Like 3-day weekend.
1286. 33:56Is it going to be two weekends or just
  1287. 33:57one off?
  1288. 33:58Just one.
  1289. 33:59Just one weekend.
  1290. 34:00Tried two weekends last year, didn't
  1291. 34:01work. I mean, they didn't get through
1292. 34:02the first day, so let's stick to one
  1293. 34:04weekend this time.
1294. 34:04excited were people that were on the the
  1295. 34:08second weekend
  1296. 34:09that they didn't actually do it?
1297. 34:11was they weren't there to tell their
1298. 34:12friends they were there. I think that
1299. 34:13was kind of the value you got from the
  1300. 34:14first one.
1301. 34:15In hindsight now, do you think those
1302. 34:17people are happy that they went, that
1303. 34:18they were part of it, or do they feel
  1304. 34:19silly?
1305. 34:20like I hear a story every like week or
1306. 34:22two of someone who had just had a crazy
1307. 34:23experience at the first Fyre Festival. I
1308. 34:25was invited to two weddings people
  1309. 34:27Two weddings?
  1310. 34:27Yeah.
  1311. 34:28Huh.
  1312. 34:29Kind of cool, right?
  1313. 34:29Those are No, it's not. That
1314. 34:31How's that cool? that marriage will not
  1315. 34:32work.
1316. 34:33Cuz that people make dumb decisions.
1317. 34:35They seem like good people.
  1318. 34:36I don't believe them.
  1319. 34:37Food, how's the food situation being
  1320. 34:39taken care of?
  1321. 34:40Oh, I don't know.
1322. 34:42We're going to leave that one for the
1323. 34:43last minute. The shrimp from Costco is
  1324. 34:44pretty good.
  1325. 34:45I
1326. 34:46We're not doing Costco shrimp, Billy.
  1327. 34:49Food is important.
1328. 34:50to undersell it this time, okay? Let me
  1329. 34:52do that.
1330. 34:52Okay, but but there will be food?
  1331. 34:54Uh maybe.
  1332. 34:55Will it be included?
  1333. 34:56Yeah, the food's included. We have a
1334. 34:57festival partner who like surprisingly
  1335. 34:59does the stuff for a living. So, I'm
  1336. 35:01here to talk [ __ ] and provide the wave
  1337. 35:02riders and they're going to actually
  1338. 35:03make this work.
  1339. 35:04Okay. All right.
  1340. 35:05don't convince you to headline, they're
  1341. 35:06going to fire me.
  1342. 35:07Okay.
1343. 35:08We I think comedians would be great.
1344. 35:09I'll go pitch them on it after.
  1345. 35:10No, you don't.
  1346. 35:11Please, Daniel.
  1347. 35:12I mean I yeah, I I'll give you a list of
  1348. 35:13comedians.
  1349. 35:14I'll give you
1350. 35:19I I I can think of some comics that
  1351. 35:21a thing where you're you're knocking
1352. 35:22each other with like the inflatables to
1353. 35:24see who falls off the stage first.
  1354. 35:25No, well okay. The
1355. 35:27Some of your ideas are off.
1356. 35:29How much would they rate you to check
1357. 35:30for to to perform at the Fire Festival,
  1358. 35:32too?
  1359. 35:32I would need It's a lot.
  1360. 35:34Yeah.
  1361. 35:35It's a lot. Like a half a million.
  1362. 35:36Damn.
1363. 35:37And and I would and I still would say
  1364. 35:39no.
  1365. 35:39Yeah.
  1366. 35:40I've I don't have fuck-you money, but I
  1367. 35:42have no-thank-you money.
  1368. 35:44That's pretty close.
1369. 35:45People have asked me all the time like,
1370. 35:46"Oh, would you do this private event?"
1371. 35:47I'm like, "No, it it's not worth it.
1372. 35:49It's not worth knowing that the event
  1373. 35:52could be bad."
  1374. 35:54Yeah.
  1375. 35:54I I need I need a nice theater. Like
1376. 35:57even when I could perform in larger
1377. 36:00venues, like arenas or things like that,
1378. 36:03I chose not to. I'd rather make less
1379. 36:05money and be in a beautiful old theater
1380. 36:09where everything sounds right, the
1381. 36:11people are seated the right way, as
  1382. 36:13opposed to a hockey arena that's been
  1383. 36:15converted so I can [ __ ] get the most
  1384. 36:18money. That's how I've always kind of
  1385. 36:21approached stand-up comedy. I I didn't
1386. 36:24like comedy clubs, either. The the
  1387. 36:25lowest end, I didn't like that either
  1388. 36:27cuz people [ __ ] sitting in the front
1389. 36:29row eating nachos and like who's this?
  1390. 36:33I don't like jalapenos.
1391. 36:35So it was it was a middle ground for me.
1392. 36:37I wanted to get successful enough to get
1393. 36:38out of comedy clubs. The other good
  1394. 36:40thing about not uh
1395. 36:42playing the biggest venues in the world
  1396. 36:44Like Fyre 2.
1397. 36:45Right. Is that when you fall off
  1398. 36:49Yeah.
1399. 36:49you don't notice the fall off near as
  1400. 36:51much.
  1401. 36:52Understood.
  1402. 36:53It's nice. It's like oh I don't have to
1403. 36:55go back to smaller things. It's like no
  1404. 36:56I kind of just
1405. 36:57Nothing will compare to Fyre 2, right?
1406. 36:58It's like you don't want to hit the peak
1407. 37:00and just have to go downhill. I
  1408. 37:01understand.
1409. 37:01How many tickets have to be sold for
  1410. 37:03this to be considered a success?
  1411. 37:05Couple thousand.
  1412. 37:06Couple that's it?
  1413. 37:06Yeah.
1414. 37:07How are you going to get big you can't
  1415. 37:08get Kanye with a couple thousand
  1416. 37:10tickets.
1417. 37:10said we have Kanye. I said I want Kanye.
  1418. 37:12No I understood I understood what you
  1419. 37:13said.
  1420. 37:14But like he's not coming for a couple
  1421. 37:15thousand people.
  1422. 37:16I don't know. Probably not.
1423. 37:18I mean maybe if he a few more wrong
  1424. 37:20turns.
  1425. 37:20Yeah. You never know.
1426. 37:21All these artists are going to ask for
  1427. 37:22their money up front.
1428. 37:24Probably. So thank god for the partners.
  1429. 37:27And Dana Tash.
  1430. 37:29I'm not a partner.
  1431. 37:30You're the backer. It's different.
  1432. 37:32Uh
1433. 37:32Do you surf or is this just
  1434. 37:33I do surf.
  1435. 37:34Really?
1436. 37:35You know people always ask me about this
  1437. 37:36board. They're like oh it's painted
  1438. 37:37black. But it's it's carbon fiber. It's
1439. 37:39a single fin. Don't touch the board. You
1440. 37:41can touch it. Uh just don't leave
  1441. 37:43fingerprints on it. Um
1442. 37:45yeah. But like these are pressure marks
  1443. 37:47from I actually wrote it. I used to
  1444. 37:48write it a bunch.
  1445. 37:49Uh what is it? 5'6" 5'8"?
  1446. 37:50No. It's it's probably 6'2".
  1447. 37:52Oh.
  1448. 37:53How tall are you?
  1449. 37:546'2".
  1450. 37:546'2".
  1451. 37:56Huh?
  1452. 37:57recognize one when I see one. I guess
  1453. 37:58not.
  1454. 38:00What's your wingspan?
1455. 38:01I have no idea. My arms are pretty long
  1456. 38:02though.
  1457. 38:03Are they?
  1458. 38:03Yeah.
1459. 38:03Did you play any sports growing up?
  1460. 38:05A little bit. Wasn't very good.
1461. 38:06What did you enjoy playing?
  1462. 38:07Uh football and jiu-jitsu.
  1463. 38:09Oh yeah.
  1464. 38:09Yeah.
1465. 38:10What do you watch now? Do you watch all
  1466. 38:11the UFC stuff?
1467. 38:12Watch the UFC and a big Jets fan
  1468. 38:14unfortunately.
1469. 38:14Oh man. That was a rough year.
  1470. 38:16Yeah. It's been a rough life.
  1471. 38:21Torture.
1472. 38:22Have you been to you go to Jets games?
1473. 38:24I went to the first game this year.
1474. 38:25Aaron Rodgers carried the flag out. I've
  1475. 38:27never heard 70,000 drunk people so
1476. 38:29happy. Then when he gets hurt like 2
1477. 38:30minutes into the game, the entire
1478. 38:32stadium just gets depressed the same
  1479. 38:34time. It's like a collective like, "Oh,
  1480. 38:35[ __ ] our lives."
1481. 38:36Did Did people blame you?
1482. 38:37Oh, for sure. They're going to be up on
  1483. 38:39the jumbotron and say this guy [ __ ]
  1484. 38:41the turf up.
  1485. 38:42[ __ ] Fire Festival guy's here.
  1486. 38:44Everybody like, "No!"
  1487. 38:46Security carried me out. They're
  1488. 38:47throwing popcorn at me.
  1489. 38:48Oh, that's tough.
  1490. 38:50Yeah.
1491. 38:50How many years in your 30s do you think
1492. 38:52will be spent in jail?
1493. 38:55I really hope not. Do you think Do you
  1494. 38:57think I'm going to go back?
  1495. 38:57No.
  1496. 38:58I really don't I'm not
  1497. 38:59I don't think so.
  1498. 39:00Yeah, that would be super [ __ ] up.
1499. 39:01The odds of you going back to jail are
1500. 39:05are greater than if you were like me me
1501. 39:09where you would just stay so far away
1502. 39:13from everything that got you there the
  1503. 39:14first time. The fact that you're
1504. 39:15embracing it and diving back into that
1505. 39:18world, that would terrify me.
  1506. 39:20I think what's scary is like it's an
1507. 39:21opportunity for someone, right? Like if
1508. 39:23they get me and if someone like gets me
1509. 39:25in trouble, like they get rewarded for
1510. 39:26that and that's like that freaks me out.
  1511. 39:28Oh.
  1512. 39:28Yeah, so it's like it's like a it's
  1513. 39:29Bounty on your head.
1514. 39:31a come up for someone's career. So,
  1515. 39:32that's kind of scary.
  1516. 39:33Was it worth it?
  1517. 39:34No.
  1518. 39:37No, I hurt a lot of people. It's not
  1519. 39:39cool.
  1520. 39:40No.
1521. 39:41I'll pay them back though.
1522. 39:42The The people of the Bahamas,
  1523. 39:44Mhm.
1524. 39:44how many of those still need to be paid
  1525. 39:46back?
1526. 39:47So, we owed like 200,000 back to them.
  1527. 39:50Um,
1528. 39:51and that that will be paid soon. So,
1529. 39:53we're working on that right now.
1530. 39:54And how many years When When was the
1531. 39:56Fire Festival supposed to happen?
  1532. 39:572017.
  1533. 39:58Okay, so
1534. 39:58And we we spent like around like 4
1535. 40:00million dollars on local uh employees
1536. 40:02there and like 200k is still owed. So,
  1537. 40:04200k.
  1538. 40:05Yeah.
1539. 40:06I should I I feel like we can we can get
  1540. 40:07that 200k back to them.
1541. 40:09Let's do it right now.
  1542. 40:10WRITE THE CHECK.
  1543. 40:12OH.
  1544. 40:14I DON'T WANT TO I DON'T WANT TO I don't
  1545. 40:15want to pay 200k.
  1546. 40:17You'll You'll help You'll help It's like
  1547. 40:18190 people?
1548. 40:19It's 190 people that need to get paid?
1549. 40:21Yeah, they're like the average is just
  1550. 40:22over $1,000.
  1551. 40:23with interest, the 200k?
  1552. 40:25It's It's like what they're what they're
  1553. 40:26owed. So.

  1562. 40:38check.
1563. 40:39You don't know what to do with the
  1564. 40:39check?

1615. 42:26walking around and she stops and we're
1616. 42:29like and she just stares at me, just
1617. 42:31looks right in my eyes, like just
