20. 0:38Back to the story.
21. 0:40My name is Hayes, and I was 42,
22. 0:43wealthy and foolish enough to believe my
23. 0:45husband Rhodis loved me.
24. 0:48I'd inherited a luxury hotel chain from
25. 0:51my father,
26. 0:52worth nearly $18 million. Rhodis
27. 0:55managed our investments while his
28. 0:57mother, Eliana, constantly reminded me
29. 0:59that I wasn't good enough for her son.
30. 1:02What I didn't know was that they had
31. 1:03been forging documents to transfer my
32. 1:05property into shell companies.
33. 1:08When I discovered their scheme,
34. 1:10Rhodis invited me to his mother's
35. 1:11countryside home to discuss our
36. 1:13marriage.
37. 1:14Instead,
38. 1:16she drugged my wine.
39. 1:17I remember him dragging me across the
40. 1:20porch as Eliana watched. "She should
41. 1:22have just signed away everything," she
42. 1:24muttered.
43. 1:25Rhodis dropped me beside her flower pots
44. 1:28and said, "Bye, money.
45. 1:29She'll be gone, and everything belongs
46. 1:32to us."
47. 1:33They left me there,
48. 1:34but Eliana's housekeeper found me and
49. 1:36called an ambulance. I survived, and
50. 1:39while recovering, I discovered something
51. 1:41even more delicious than revenge.
52. 1:43You see, Rhodis had unknowingly signed
53. 1:45documents making him personally liable
54. 1:48for every fraudulent transfer.
55. 1:51And my father had left me one final
56. 1:53gift, a controlling interest in a
57. 1:55private bank financing Rudy's business
58. 1:57empire.
59. 1:59I contacted my attorneys and 3 weeks
60. 2:01later
61. 2:02Rudy and Leona got out of their house
62. 2:05celebrating the news that I supposedly
63. 2:07died.
64. 2:08A black limousine pulled into the
65. 2:10driveway and I stepped out
66. 2:12alive
67. 2:13wearing a crimson suit.
68. 2:15Rudy
69. 2:18white.
70. 2:19"You You're supposed to be dead now."
71. 2:22they said. I smirked.
72. 2:24"You should have checked."
73. 2:25Behind me federal investigators appeared
74. 2:27at the house.
75. 2:28My attorneys had frozen
76. 2:30their stolen assets, exposed their
77. 2:32forged documents, and delivered evidence
78. 2:34of attempted murder to the authorities.
79. 2:37Rudy's company collapsed under the
80. 2:39investigation and then Leona lost the
81. 2:41mansion she had secretly purchased with
82. 2:43my money.
83. 2:45Rudy fell to his knees and said,
84. 2:47"Please. We were married." I leaned
85. 2:49closer and said, "Yet.
86. 2:51You left your dying wife on the porch."
87. 2:54And I walked away.
88. 2:56I don't need to destroy them with my
89. 2:57hands. I simply made sure they live long
90. 3:00enough to watch everything they stole
91. 3:01from me become mine again.
