My Awkward Love Confession — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Today, I'm going to be talking about
- 0:01confessions. More specifically, how I
- 0:03confessed my love to my girlfriend,
- 0:06Hono.
- 0:08And like most things in life,
- 0:09>> [laughter]
- 0:10>> it did not go smoothly. But before I
- 0:12plaster all over the internet how
- 0:13pitiful and awkward my confession went,
- 0:16we got to rewind all the way back to the
- 0:18beginning of how I even started talking
- 0:20to her in the first place. So, back in
- 0:22February of 2021, I got an email from
- 0:25Hono asking to collaborate on a video
- 0:27she was working on. At the time, she was
- 0:29a humble aspiring content creator who
- 0:31time videos just like me. When I first
- 0:33saw the email, I thought to myself, "Aw,
- 0:36she's so sweet." And also, I really
- 0:38loved her videos. She had an amazing art
- 0:40style, super funny humor, and just all
- 0:43around had so much potential.
- 0:47It was a no-brainer. I was more than
- 0:49delighted to voice lines for her.
- 0:51Except, I
- 0:53forgot
- 0:55to reply back. I know, I know, I'm
- 0:58horrible. I feel horrible. I swear I
- 1:01genuinely had all intentions to do the
- 1:02voice lines, but I kind of just put it
- 1:05off for later. And unfortunately,
- 1:09that later never came. Not only do I
- 1:12have the memory and attention span of a
- 1:13goldfish, but admittedly, having a
- 1:16gazillion tabs open at all times didn't
- 1:19really help either. So, guess what? I
- 1:21kissed my old browser goodbye and
- 1:23downloaded one that's far superior in
- 1:25every way possible.
- 1:28This is a segway to this. This video was
- 1:29sponsored by Opera.
- 1:32For all my fellow chronic tab hoarders
- 1:34and disorganized peeps out there, Opera
- 1:36is an actual godsend. With their tab
- 1:38islands feature, you can easily group
- 1:40tabs by their respective project, name
- 1:42them, collapse and expand, and even
- 1:44color coordinate them accordingly. It's
- 1:46as easy as manually dragging and
- 1:48hovering the tab over one another. For
- 1:50me, I have one for art references, one
- 1:52for YouTube, one for memes, and even
- 1:54friends I respect and look up to for
- 1:58inspiration. Another feature I found
- 2:00incredibly useful was being able to
- 2:02directly access Google services in the
- 2:04sidebar. For someone like me who uses
- 2:06Gmail to communicate with my team and
- 2:08other work-related stuff all the time,
- 2:10having the app just one click away has
- 2:11been super helpful and convenient. It's
- 2:13as simple as clicking on the three dots
- 2:15in the bottom of the sidebar and
- 2:17choosing the ones you need under Google
- 2:18services. On top of all these, you can
- 2:20even fully customize the theme's mode,
- 2:23intensity, animation, color, and shade
- 2:26however you prefer in order to create
- 2:28the perfect modern and clean environment
- 2:30you desire. My personal favorite is this
- 2:32one called Frutiger Aero [music] cuz it
- 2:34gives my work sessions a more focused
- 2:37and soothing vibe. If all of these
- 2:38features sound right up your alley, you
- 2:40should definitely give Opera a try by
- 2:42clicking the link in the description or
- 2:44the pinned comment below to download it
- 2:46today. Thank you again to Opera for
- 2:47sponsoring the video and now back to the
- 2:49story. So anyways, I forgot to reply
- 2:52back to her and that was the end of
- 2:54that. Now skip to the month of June. I
- 2:57was casually scrolling through the bird
- 2:58app and there I stumbled upon a fan art
- 3:01that was retweeted by a popular
- 3:03up-and-coming storytime YouTuber who was
- 3:05celebrating her 100k milestone.
- 3:07Considering how she was a part of the
- 3:08same storytime community, I thought it'd
- 3:11be nice to congratulate her. And so I
- 3:13hover my mouse over to her profile name
- 3:15to make my way over to her DMs and oh
- 3:19no, bread?
- 3:22Oh no, bread?
- 3:24Oh no,
- 3:26yep, the exact same Honobread who sent
- 3:29me that collaboration email 5 months
- 3:32ago. I ghosted her for 5 months. The
- 3:36level of guilt I felt in that very
- 3:38moment was unbearable. So to make things
- 3:41right, I decided to go out of my way to
- 3:43apologize to her, but because I thought
- 3:46it'd be a bit disingenuous to do it over
- 3:48DMs, I asked her if she could get on
- 3:51call.
- 3:57>> Hey, you wanted to talk to me about
- 3:58something?
- 3:59>> Uh yeah. Um first of all, massive
- 4:02congrats on the 100k milestone. Been
- 4:04really loving your videos.
- 4:06>> Aw, thank you. That's really sweet. I
- 4:08love your videos, too.
- 4:09>> Oh, thanks.
- 4:13Anyways, about that collab email you
- 4:15sent like 5 months ago. I just wanted to
- 4:18genuinely apologize for
- 4:23Even though she was super embarrassed
- 4:25about it, she calmly explained it was
- 4:27okay and that she was actually hoping
- 4:30I'd forgotten about it and it wasn't
- 4:32that big of a deal. I still apologized
- 4:33profusely and after that, we kind of
- 4:36chatted for a little bit and ended the
- 4:38call there. And with that, my guilty
- 4:40conscience was satiated and everything
- 4:42between us was cool. In fact, we
- 4:46actually got on a lot more calls over
- 4:48time and the more we talked, the more we
- 4:50discovered how much we had in common.
- 4:53Sharing a conversation with her felt so
- 4:55effortless. So much so that our calls
- 4:58would sometimes go on for like 12 hours
- 5:00straight and we wouldn't even notice the
- 5:02time go by. At some point, these calls
- 5:05quickly became the thing I looked
- 5:07forward to the most throughout my day
- 5:08and shortly after, I knew that I was
- 5:12starting to catch feelings for her.
- 5:14Realizing this, I naturally made more of
- 5:16an effort to spend more quality time
- 5:18with her. We did some anime watch
- 5:20parties, played some comfy games and
- 5:22shared more in-depth conversations
- 5:24concerning our values and personal
- 5:26upbringings. We even started drawing
- 5:28little doodles or comics of our
- 5:30characters and used that to invite each
- 5:33other to call sometimes. And the more we
- 5:35bonded, the more certain I became about
- 5:37how I felt about her. And then one day,
- 5:39it hit me. I knew I had to do it.
- 5:42I was going to confess my feelings to
- 5:46her. Fortunately, my birthday was coming
- 5:48up and I knew this was the perfect
- 5:50chance for me to tell her how I feel.
- 5:52So, I called her up on Discord, asked
- 5:54her if she was free to hang out on my
- 5:55birthday, to which she replied, "Yes."
- 5:58LET'S GO! YEAH!
- 6:00>> [screaming]
- 6:04>> AND NERVOUSLY PREPARED MYSELF FOR THE
- 6:06biggest moment of my life. On the day of
- 6:09the plan, it started out flawlessly. We
- 6:11chatted for a bit, played some games
- 6:13with some adult juice, and celebrated my
- 6:15birthday with some cute pictures of
- 6:16cake. It was genuinely one of the most
- 6:19fun I had in a while. And of course, at
- 6:22the end of it, once the mood was set, I
- 6:25knew the time had finally come. Uh
- 6:28Honoka,
- 6:29I
- 6:31I have something important to tell you.
- 6:34>> Oh, what is it?
- 6:36>> So, you see, I um
- 6:41well, I
- 6:43uh
- 6:45you know,
- 6:46so I
- 6:48wanted to say um
- 6:53I
- 6:59I choked.
- 7:02I freaking choked! And you might be
- 7:06thinking, "Why was it so hard to just
- 7:09tell her how I feel?" Well, you see, out
- 7:11of nowhere, I was getting hit by
- 7:13thoughts like, "What if her liking me
- 7:15back was all in my head? What if she
- 7:17wasn't actually into me? What if she
- 7:19only wanted to be friends and I'm
- 7:21overstepping boundaries?" And I kid you
- 7:23not, I was stuttering and struggling to
- 7:26tell her how I felt for almost 10
- 7:29insufferable minutes. Like, I swear, she
- 7:32must have thought I was having a massive
- 7:33stroke or something. And just when I
- 7:35thought things couldn't get worse, I
- 7:38completely pulled the brakes when she
- 7:41said this. So, you see I
- 7:44I
- 7:45>> You know, if it's too hard to share with
- 7:48me,
- 7:49maybe you don't have to force yourself.
- 7:56>> Now look here. When she said that I
- 7:57didn't have to force myself, to me it
- 8:00almost sounded like she didn't want me
- 8:02to confess to her, which then led me to
- 8:04think I might have completely missed the
- 8:06mark on how she felt about me. So, in a
- 8:09moment of panic, I said, "Uh yeah, yeah.
- 8:12You're right. Uh
- 8:14I'm going to go get some water." At this
- 8:17point, I was fully convinced that she
- 8:19had zero interest in me, and telling her
- 8:22how I felt now would only end up in me
- 8:24getting painfully rejected. So, to save
- 8:26myself from further embarrassment, I
- 8:28decided
- 8:30not to confess. When I returned, I
- 8:32apologized for acting all weird and
- 8:35thanked her for taking the time to spend
- 8:37time with me on my birthday. And then we
- 8:39just kind of awkwardly ended the call.
- 8:43It was over. That night, I remember just
- 8:46sitting in front of the computer trying
- 8:48to process what just happened. And all I
- 8:50could think of was whether I should call
- 8:53her back right then and there and just
- 8:55tell her how I feel anyway, or just put
- 8:58things to rest and move on. I'm not even
- 9:01joking. I literally sat in the exact
- 9:04same position contemplating this for
- 9:06hours until eventually the sun came up.
- 9:11Then I realized she kind of already
- 9:14rejected me once.
- 9:16What do I have to lose now? I'll just
- 9:19tell her how I feel,
- 9:20and that'll be the end of that. And
- 9:23whatever happens, happens. And as soon
- 9:25as I made up my mind, I clicked the call
- 9:28button at 6:00 a.m. in the morning with
- 9:30crusty eye bags and all, and gave it one
- 9:33last go.
- 9:35>> Hello?
- 9:36Isn't it pretty early there?
- 9:38>> Uh yeah, it is.
- 9:40>> Oh no, are you okay? You sounded like
- 9:43you didn't get any sleep.
- 9:45>> I'm okay. I'm okay.
- 9:48Uh
- 9:50Hono,
- 9:51if you had a guy you had strong feelings
- 9:54for,
- 9:55but
- 9:56somehow failed to tell him how you feel,
- 9:59would you try again?
- 10:02>> Well, if it's someone I really like, I
- 10:04think so. Why?
- 10:13>> [screaming]
- 10:17>> I
- 10:19I have feelings for you.
- 10:22Romantic feelings.
- 10:24I I can't stop talking to you.
- 10:27I can't stop wanting to call you every
- 10:29chance I get. I enjoy being around you
- 10:32so much that it's
- 10:34it's becoming more and more difficult to
- 10:38get off call sometimes. And even if you
- 10:40don't feel the same way, it's okay cuz
- 10:43>> Oh,
- 10:44I have feelings for you, too.
- 10:47>> Huh?
- 10:49You do?
- 10:51>> Yeah.
- 10:55>> [music]
- 10:57>> Okay, how do I explain this? So,
- 11:01apparently, for some reason, she thought
- 11:04instead of a love confession, she was
- 11:07afraid I was trying to tell her that we
- 11:10should hang out less because I didn't
- 11:13want to seem like I was leading her on
- 11:16and stuff. Hence, why she was okay with
- 11:19not hearing what I had to say. I guess
- 11:22I'm happy to know I wasn't the only one
- 11:25overthinking things. Anyways, after
- 11:27clarifying, we both had a good laugh
- 11:29about it, and from then on, we just of
- 11:32look back on this memory [music] fondly.
- 11:34Sometimes things are not always going to
- 11:36go your way, but even if that's the
- 11:38case, I think it's better to be brave
- 11:40and take a chance [music]
- 11:42than to regret in the future wondering
- 11:44what it could have been. And for me,
- 11:47I'm glad
- 11:48>> [music]
- 11:49>> I took that chance.
- 12:02>> [music]
- 12:12[music]
