  1. 0:00I just got to catch my breath and then
  2. 0:01I'm gonna show you guys I'm very
  3. 0:03necessary workout for our motor sport
  4. 0:05athlete the best thing you don't even
  5. 0:07need to tie up this thing yeah hey and
  6. 0:13welcome back to another episode of
  7. 0:14backyard life and today we are moving
  8. 0:16onto thin ice kiss we are gonna do a
  9. 0:19workout together with you guys I'm gonna
  10. 0:21show you my preferred workout for motor
  11. 0:23sport athletes bring on the the
  12. 0:25healthiness into backyard life got a
  13. 0:27quite a few questions from you guys to
  14. 0:30show more like inside what do we
  15. 0:32motorsport drivers do between races and
  16. 0:35today we are in the gym I'm training at
  17. 0:38in Bali and it's called in a limit
  18. 0:39CrossFit which is a very very nice
  19. 0:42CrossFit gym has all the tools that I
  20. 0:44would like to have is where I kind of
  21. 0:45build my base before a race weekend for
  22. 0:49example next week we have the race in
  23. 0:51Norway in hell the big event for me of
  24. 0:53the year we bring tons of Bakkerud blues
  25. 0:55up to to hell it's gonna be great to see
  26. 0:57all the fans alright so I want to show
  27. 0:59you guys some different workouts which I
  28. 1:01use we're gonna work with some core
  29. 1:03we're gonna work do a simple workout
  30. 1:05which it's gonna be very very fast but
  31. 1:07high poles and high intensity different
  32. 1:10motorsport requires different training
  33. 1:12for example for me in rallycross has one
  34. 1:14type of fitness form and you have
  35. 1:16Formula One athletes which has a
  36. 1:17complete different one so I follow my
  37. 1:20workouts in rallycross to get more fit
  38. 1:22and prepared for races where I think
  39. 1:24marks for stopping for example which
  40. 1:26drives f1p follow his path but yeah
  41. 1:29let's get to it
  42. 1:30alright so normally I start with
  43. 1:32stretching before I go over to so
  44. 1:35warm-up sessions which can either be
  45. 1:37like rowing or assault bike or jumping
  46. 1:40jack no jumping rope it's called jumping
  47. 1:44rope I think in radicals or in
  48. 1:46motorsport in general you need to be
  49. 1:47quite athletic and a nice way to forget
  50. 1:55[Music]
  51. 2:02I'm not very flexible but a little I
  52. 2:05think that's good for anymore sport or
  53. 2:08any athlete at all to be flexible so
  54. 2:12normally whenever I travel I bring
  55. 2:13jumping rope with me it's super simple
  56. 2:15it has no weight so you can bring it in
  57. 2:18your suitcase everywhere you go in a
  58. 2:19hand luggage it looks silly if you're on
  59. 2:21the airport actually jumping around you
  60. 2:24can probably do that to something which
  61. 2:37is very very important in every athletes
  62. 2:39life its core training and that's also
  63. 2:41without a doubt in motorsport especially
  64. 2:43I remember in karting you know you're
  65. 2:44sitting here very like tight with your
  66. 2:47stomach in the seat you're sitting and
  67. 2:48tightening up your stomach and your back
  68. 2:51and I think the core Fitness in
  69. 2:53motorsport is generally where you need
  70. 2:55to focus the most and the biggest time
  71. 2:58of your workouts needs to be around your
  72. 3:00core it's extremely important to have a
  73. 3:02good core when doing motor sports so you
  74. 3:04guys probably remember the crash I had
  75. 3:06with Timmy in Abu Dhabi that was
  76. 3:11measured with the G sensor we have in a
  77. 3:13car on seven G's the G sensor actually
  78. 3:16stopped working at seven and it got
  79. 3:18destroyed so it was probably over seven
  80. 3:20GS
  81. 3:21so in those situation those are extreme
  82. 3:23situations but there it's more important
  83. 3:26than ever to have a strong core I was
  84. 3:28bruised for one and a half week he felt
  85. 3:30that pain in my lower back some pain in
  86. 3:32my neck shoulder but other than that it
  87. 3:35took one a half week two weeks to get
  88. 3:37hundred-percent
  89. 3:38but if I didn't have a strong core that
  90. 3:40would be so much worse I would probably
  91. 3:42go to hospital and get straighten up
  92. 3:44after I hit when your body is stuck but
  93. 3:47your body wants to go this way I would
  94. 3:49be probably twisted around 120 degrees
  95. 3:51all right so let's do some core workouts
  96. 3:54normally when I choose exercises I would
  97. 3:56like fun exercises I don't like to do
  98. 3:58200 sit-ups and ones I would like to
  99. 4:01find fun exercises I use medicine ball a
  100. 4:03lot like explosive workouts use your
  101. 4:06whole body so I don't know what this one
  102. 4:08is called but we do it a lot together
  103. 4:10with the national coach in Norway
  104. 4:17[Music]
  105. 4:28all right speaking of a-kor very
  106. 4:30important is your back core muscles you
  107. 4:33can find it in almost every gym you go
  108. 4:36up to here if it's too easy for you you
  109. 4:39can have weights many people get very
  110. 4:42tired in their lives
  111. 4:43including myself try to relax more in
  112. 4:45your legs and let the back do the work
  113. 4:48if you don't have the correct equipment
  114. 4:50at home you can always do back extension
  115. 4:53like this it is pretty much as simple as
  116. 4:56that when I'm out traveling 270 days a
  117. 4:58year then I use this a lot so the reason
  118. 5:00I'm here at in a limit CrossFit is that
  119. 5:02you have a lot of different stuff you
  120. 5:04can do as an athlete you can jump in the
  121. 5:07Rings or rope or use the pull up rig or
  122. 5:10cross-country skiing you have so many
  123. 5:12different element you can use and in
  124. 5:14CrossFit there's so many different
  125. 5:16workouts for example for me I'm not a
  126. 5:18very strong athlete I don't squat mush I
  127. 5:21don't deadlift modular on bank press
  128. 5:23much as a motorsport athlete you would
  129. 5:25like to stay light so my aim is to be
  130. 5:28around 72 kilos when I did the DTM test
  131. 5:31I was the heaviest in Spain last year I
  132. 5:33was 80 kilo with full equipment helmet
  133. 5:35suit shoes gloves everything where I
  134. 5:39think the closest one was at 74 so yeah
  135. 5:42I think most people at least are pretty
  136. 5:44skinny
  137. 5:44they don't have much leg muscles but
  138. 5:47they are pretty strong in their core
  139. 5:49which is the key and essential key to
  140. 5:51everything I'm not sure if you guys
  141. 5:52remember the DTM test I did the seat was
  142. 5:55a little bit too big and I was like
  143. 5:57floating around and the seat a little
  144. 5:59bit too much and I was tightening up my
  145. 6:01core
  146. 6:08and you especially my lower back to
  147. 6:10tighten up my myself when I was driving
  148. 6:12and I was so tired after the half a day
  149. 6:15I did in the car there was a lot of new
  150. 6:17muscles I never thought that I had in my
  151. 6:19body I should definitely have used the
  152. 6:21back extension a little bit more with
  153. 6:23you guys remember I was like I've never
  154. 6:25been so wet in my entire life it was so
  155. 6:27warm in our cockpit because I'm so I'm
  156. 6:32wet it was very warm in the car I've
  157. 6:34been sitting there for a whole day so I
  158. 6:36will change my back is I didn't want to
  159. 6:40say to anyone it's painful and I tried
  160. 6:43to hold on to the steering wheel and
  161. 6:44everything I had and the g-forces you
  162. 6:46have when you're racing also I do think
  163. 6:48part of your neck muscle is also
  164. 6:50connected to your lower back and core
  165. 6:53obviously your head is attached to your
  166. 6:54body so when you are in long corners and
  167. 6:58you have a lot of g-forces pressing your
  168. 6:59head either way you start with your core
  169. 7:02and then it goes up to your neck muscles
  170. 7:04to keep your head in space so I think
  171. 7:07the core is essential biggest muscle if
  172. 7:10you're gonna do long endurance racing or
  173. 7:12work with something that has a lot of
  174. 7:14g-forces for your neck like you see I
  175. 7:16like to go a little bit back and forward
  176. 7:18with front and back again side to side
  177. 7:20I'm sure everybody have seen this
  178. 7:22exercise before touch the floor first up
  179. 7:25lift your legs it get heavier and you
  180. 7:28can work with your coordination at the
  181. 7:29same time so I try to find different
  182. 7:32type of core training and now I had over
  183. 7:35to the Rings where we will work on both
  184. 7:37the back and the front together you put
  185. 7:40the legs in you can either stand like
  186. 7:42this
  187. 7:43[Music]
  188. 7:48he's nice is nice alright so that was
  189. 7:53very simple just a couple of exercises
  190. 7:55correlated stomach and lower back right
  191. 7:58now I want to go into workouts well
  192. 8:01minis workout it works very efficient
  193. 8:03you get your heart rhythm up very fast
  194. 8:05normally it's like 30 minutes or even
  195. 8:08longer workouts today I put up a
  196. 8:1112-minute workout just we got to see and
  197. 8:14understand how it works it's gonna be
  198. 8:15just peek up to your max heart rate and
  199. 8:18try to stay in that gap and in that way
  200. 8:20no for a short time for only 12 minutes
  201. 8:22so the workout I'm having today is I'm
  202. 8:25wrapped 12 so it's it's gonna be 12
  203. 8:27Global's it's gonna be 12 kettlebell
  204. 8:30swing 12 push-ups and then ended up with
  205. 8:3212 toasted bar when I'm done with that
  206. 8:35then I go back to the wall ball 12 new
  207. 8:38they're back to 12
  208. 8:39a kettlebell I'd think you understand
  209. 8:41the game so it just keeps on going until
  210. 8:43you have done a 12 minute workout
  211. 8:45heartrate get up very fast and the first
  212. 8:47two three realms will be very easy then
  213. 8:50you're gonna get the hammer and then you
  214. 8:52need to stick in the zone and try to
  215. 8:54live alright so wish me luck right we
  216. 9:00ready we are ready by the way it's 10:00
  217. 9:02p.m. so my screen is already turned to
  218. 9:05night night mode alright so twelve
  219. 9:08minutes on the clock
  220. 9:10go
  221. 9:14[Music]
  222. 9:16[Applause]
  223. 9:17[Music]
  224. 9:36[Music]
  225. 9:42[Applause]
  226. 9:43[Music]
  227. 9:58it's not fun so it's up to you guys
  228. 10:01comment below how many wrongs do you get
  229. 10:03if you comment how many wrongs you did
  230. 10:05then maybe I'll let you guys know how
  231. 10:07many wrongs I did so the reason why I
  232. 10:12like to do this is that it's short for
  233. 10:14sure the wood we did today was kind of
  234. 10:17extreme I shouldn't have added the
  235. 10:18toaster bar you can take away the
  236. 10:20toaster bar and put in jumping rope or
  237. 10:22something a little bit easier or you can
  238. 10:24choose your level you can change all the
  239. 10:26kind of workouts we had with different
  240. 10:29stuff like sit-ups you can add in there
  241. 10:31you can do squats you can do the
  242. 10:33important thing is that you are doing
  243. 10:35something and that you get your heart
  244. 10:36rhythm very fast especially for
  245. 10:38rallycross I think this is the best form
  246. 10:40of workouts for me it doesn't
  247. 10:42necessarily be the best way for you to
  248. 10:45get in shape but I have a short window
  249. 10:47every day where I can do a workout of
  250. 10:49tons of different stuff to do during the
  251. 10:50day so for me to get in here to in early
  252. 10:52May CrossFit to do a fast workout
  253. 10:55together with them be competitive with
  254. 10:57other athletes Omar Gooding strength
  255. 10:59someone good in cardio some are good in
  256. 11:01movement some are good in running it's
  257. 11:04others are good in rowing combining
  258. 11:06everything it's like like rallycross is
  259. 11:08motorsports MMA I think also CrossFit is
  260. 11:11Fitness MMA it's a mix of everything
  261. 11:14alright I'm just going I just got to
  262. 11:16catch my breath and then I'm going to
  263. 11:18show you guys our very cool and very
  264. 11:19necessary workout for a more sport
  265. 11:22athlete it doesn't need to be rallycross
  266. 11:24or a limo driver of f1 everybody's doing
  267. 11:26it so this is my go-kart helmet slash
  268. 11:29racing helmet I used it back in 2016 and
  269. 11:3317 we're gonna do a neck workout so this
  270. 11:37you can do at home you can be at the
  271. 11:39coach or it can be in bed
  272. 11:40put the helmet on 20 times upwards 20
  273. 11:44times the left side 20 times the right
  274. 11:46side when you have got the hang of it
  275. 11:48do more longer workouts with neck I used
  276. 11:51especially when I started to become like
  277. 11:5412 13 years old in karting when yellow
  278. 11:56big tires a high grip and a struggle
  279. 12:00with my neck and core muscles so this
  280. 12:02exercise I did all the time we can do a
  281. 12:04couple of hair right now as you can see
  282. 12:06the best thing you don't even need to
  283. 12:07tie up this thing yeah now you go from
  284. 12:10straight and up here 20 times and then
  285. 12:17you go side you go a little bit down go
  286. 12:20up there and then you do the other side
  287. 12:25so I keeping with the neck exercises is
  288. 12:28that you need to be very careful with
  289. 12:30your neck you can't start flying in
  290. 12:32hundreds workouts on your neck
  291. 12:34immediately you need to start somewhere
  292. 12:35be gentle with your neck it takes time
  293. 12:37for your neck muscles to to react
  294. 12:40you only have one neck and you don't
  295. 12:41want to destroy it so don't go crazy
  296. 12:43banana start with something easy you can
  297. 12:45start without the helmet do the same
  298. 12:47exercises without the helmet and then
  299. 12:48put on a helmet when you feel that's
  300. 12:50easy and do more reputation for me this
  301. 12:52helped me tons alright so this was some
  302. 12:55of the exercise I like to do when I'm at
  303. 12:57the CrossFit Center alright I'm not
  304. 12:59always bringing a helmet or a CrossFit
  305. 13:01gym but I always try to do something fun
  306. 13:04when I'm doing workout so you know we do
  307. 13:07a lot of training and I think training
  308. 13:09is supposed to be fun you don't need to
  309. 13:11run 10,000 meter in a certain time I
  310. 13:13just think you need to be in general
  311. 13:15good shape and you need to enjoy what
  312. 13:17you're doing so that's why I try to play
  313. 13:19some games when I'm training you know
  314. 13:21try to find fun stuff challenge myself
  315. 13:23the best world rally driver ever
  316. 13:26sebastien loeb he was a very good
  317. 13:28gymnastic athlete before he joined
  318. 13:30rallying so I do think that we need to
  319. 13:33do a little bit like him I'm gonna be
  320. 13:43impressed if you get over this line
  321. 13:46that's probably five meters and how many
  322. 13:48chances you get three attempts okay
  323. 13:51three oh he's going woo Oh kind of
  324. 13:56stopped oh you're never gonna make it
  325. 14:05let's try the intense moment it's this
  326. 14:09line oh he's going oh oh oh that's a bad
  327. 14:15one oh he's going for it that's a whole
  328. 14:19bad I'm at handstand box let's try it
  329. 14:22Burma stops I've never done one oh I
  330. 14:24have actually done one but it's pretty
  331. 14:26hard and I can't do it without without
  332. 14:28the swing it's gonna be like up here
  333. 14:30truth and up I have a chance but it's
  334. 14:34hard okay I think you need to move
  335. 14:46oh you need to get through two rings
  336. 14:49don't hurt yourself yeah mom there is a
  337. 14:58technique you need to get true all right
  338. 15:00oh one more time I'm pretty sure there
  339. 15:44is so many like Ross the technician out
  340. 15:47there knowing what I do wrong so all the
  341. 15:49haters comment below oh I didn't
