- 0:00is and I love the process, but it's a
- 0:02lot. And I started just thinking about
- 0:04the entire day this morning. I'm sitting
- 0:06out here having a little bit of
- 0:10a little bit of caffeine trying to p
- 0:11myself up and I'm like, [ __ ] man. What
- 0:14a day. I was like, you know what? Maybe
- 0:16I just do cardio, skip everything else
- 0:20cuz I'm tired.
- 0:22And then I started thinking about uh
- 0:25then I started thinking about you know
- 0:28you start negotiating with yourself
- 0:30and when you negotiate with yourself
- 0:34you can make any negotiation
- 0:37work out in your favor because you're
- 0:39negotiating with yourself. So I start
- 0:41negotiating. I'm like all right I'm
- 0:43[ __ ] tired. It's only Tuesday. I got
- 0:46to listen to my body. You know, all my
- 0:48life I was brought up and and and
- 0:52trained to listen to your body. Let pain
- 0:54be your guide. Sometimes you get through
- 0:56it. Sometimes you really got to listen.
- 0:59Take a seat. And uh then I I thought of
- 1:03I thought of the difference between
- 1:05motivation and discipline.
- 1:08And I had learned this a long time ago.
- 1:11And you know the big difference,
- 1:14what would you rather be, motivated or
- 1:15disciplined? And I used to choose a long
- 1:18time ago motivation. But then I realized
- 1:21the the greater power is in discipline
- 1:24because motivation can be fleeting.
- 1:28Motivation
- 1:30is the noise. You know, I can do it. I'm
- 1:33going to go run through a wall, you
- 1:35know, grind, grind, grind. No days off.
- 1:38Let's go.
- 1:40Uh motivation is the noise, but
- 1:41discipline is the voice. And discipline
- 1:45is the voice that is like right behind
- 1:47your rib cage. And it's the one that
- 1:50will that will say you can listen to
- 1:53your body and you could take a rest.
- 1:55Sure. Um no one will know.
- 1:58But you'll know and you know right now
- 2:03if you can do it, you know. So that's
- 2:06how my negotiation went. I was like,
- 2:08"All right,
- 2:09[ __ ] it. Let's do this." But if your dog
- 2:14tired on a Tuesday or any day that ends
- 2:16with why and you start questioning, man,
- 2:19I you know, I got to get get up, get the
- 2:21kids ready for school, get them out, try
- 2:23and go work out, then go to work, come
- 2:25back. Uh, you know, responsibilities
- 2:29when you get back home. I get it. Got to
- 2:31pay the bills, do the thing we do. Um,
- 2:34just try and remember that the
- 2:35difference between motivation and
- 2:37discipline. And motivation is amazing
- 2:40and we get a lot of [ __ ] done. We
- 2:42accomplish a lot of great stuff when
- 2:44we're motivated. But motivation is the
- 2:46noise. Good and sometimes a little
- 2:49cloudy, but discipline is always the
- 2:52voice. It's always the gut voice that
- 2:56will never ever steal you wrong. Ever.
