0:04me that didn't know if I was going to be
0:06able to get a video up this week but we
0:08are here and I just want to say thank

0:12last week I hated letting you all down I
0:15felt so guilty but last week was just
0:18one of those weeks for me where
0:19everything went wrong I felt like the
0:21universe was against me and then I
0:23thought I had covid which thank God I
0:26didn't but I just want to thank you guys

0:30world I am so happy to be here today so
0:33today we have an absolutely incredible
0:36Survivor story and the events of today's
0:39case will literally and I mean literally
0:42shock you to the core we are going to be
0:44talking about the survival story of Mary
0:46Vincent and oh my God this woman she is
0:50so so strong I honestly cannot believe
0:53what she went through Mary Vincent was
0:55just 15 years old when her whole world
0:57got turned upside down forever and this
1:00all happened when Mary hitched a ride
1:03from the wrong person yes this is a
1:06hitchhiking story oh remember the case
1:08of Colleen Stan um if you haven't
1:11watched that video you should well that
1:13was another case where hitchhiking went
1:15terribly wrong and what is just really
1:17strange about today's case is that it
1:19did take place in a very similar area in
1:21California as the Ken Stan case and it
1:24also happened in a very similar time
1:26period which is just very very strange
1:28so the evil perpetrator in today case oh
1:31my God this man makes my blood boil and
1:33this man is called Lawrence Singleton
1:35there are not enough evil words in the
1:37dictionary to describe this man this man
1:39is pure evil he is a monster what he did
1:42to Mary Vincent is the stuff of
1:44nightmares even though Mary Vincent is
1:46the most well-known victim of Lawrence
1:48Singleton there is actually another
1:50victim in this story that doesn't get
1:52spoken about as much this case is
1:54another one of those cases that just
1:56seems too farfetched to be real it just
1:58seems like a movie but it's not its real
2:00life so that is what we're going to get

3:57today's case Lauren Singleton was born
3:59on 28th of July 1927 making him a Leo he
4:03was born in Tampa Florida where he had a
4:06lot of siblings and I actually don't
4:07know the exact number some sources said
4:09six some sources said seven so a lot of
4:12siblings and not much is actually known
4:14about Lawrence's background which is
4:15just really really frustrating because I
4:17would love to know what the hell
4:19happened in this man's life to make him
4:21so evil and into the monster that he
4:24becomes but what we do know about his
4:26background is that after he left school
4:28he did serve in the military in Korea in
4:31a very gruesome war zone but then for
4:34the rest of his life and for the
4:35majority of his life he actually was a
4:38Merchant Marine where he would basically
4:40work on cargo ships and travel the world
4:42and he used to work below deck operating
4:45all of the Machinery Lawrence did get
4:47married twice and I don't know any of
4:49the details about these marriages which
4:51is why I just say he was married twice
4:54but we do know that Lawrence was a
4:56raging violent alcoholic he really
4:59struggled L to control his emotions he
5:02suffered with really low moods he did
5:05suffer with depression on and off and he
5:07also was very violent very angry as well
5:10especially when he was drunk so I don't
5:12know anything about the marriages but
5:14they did break down relatively quickly
5:16and I think we can safely assume that
5:18maybe it was because Lawrence was a dick
5:20I'm sorry I'm going to be sassy in this
5:22video because seriously Lawrence is
5:24disgusting and then by the time Lawrence
5:25gets to his 50s he leaves his job as a
5:28Merchant Marine and settles down in
5:30Sparks Nevada and he moved here to live
5:33out his retirement on his own we also do
5:36know that Lawrence had a daughter from
5:38his first marriage but the relationship
5:40with his daughter was not a good one his
5:42daughter did not like him and I wonder
5:45why like I have said Lawrence was a
5:46raging violent drunk and one time when
5:49he was drunk he lashed out at his
5:51daughter and slapped her really hard his
5:53daughter was just like yeah I'm not
5:55putting up with this like I don't want
5:57anything to do with you and after this
5:58incident she actually found filed a
6:00complaint against her father Lawrence
6:02and she asked to be removed from his
6:05custody and I think it was granted and
6:07then from that moment on they were
6:08estranged they didn't really have that
6:10much of a relationship and honestly her
6:12getting away from her father was
6:14probably the best decision she has ever
6:16made and that is pretty much all we know
6:18about Lawrence's background until we get
6:20to 1978 when Lawrence is 51 years old
6:24and this is when he meets his first
6:27victim 15-year-old Mary Vincent Mary was
6:31born in
6:321963 she was one of seven children and
6:35she lived with her parents and her other
6:37siblings in Las Vegas now Mary was
6:40described as a very happy Bright Child
6:42she had a really good future ahead of
6:44her she was a really competitive
6:46talented dancer and that was her dream
6:49to become a dancer and her instructors
6:51were confident that she would become a
6:53dancer like she was really really
6:55talented however in the summer of 1978
6:58things took a turn for the worst for
7:00Mary it said that her parents went
7:02through a pretty messy divorce and this
7:04kind of screwed her over it kind of put
7:06her on a bad path and Mary decided to
7:09run away from home things were that bad
7:11in the household and this wasn't just
7:13like oh I'll run away for a few hours
7:16teach my parents a lesson and then I'll
7:18come back home oh no no Mary used to be
7:20gone for days if not weeks at a time and
7:23Mary spent time living on the streets
7:25she would sleep anywhere she could
7:28sometimes that would be in unlocked cars
7:30and this is when she met and spent some
7:33time with a
7:3626-year-old companion Diego Montoya I
7:39saw some sources even called Diego her
7:43boyfriend I was just like uh-uh no would
7:46no even if Mary was voluntarily with him
7:50I am sorry we all know what Diego is he
7:52is 26 years old what does he want with a
7:5515-year-old that is living on the street
7:57and is vulnerable hm yeah and when Mary
8:00was with Diego kind of like living with
8:02him rough on the streets I don't really
8:04know where they were Diego was actually
8:06arrested for raping another 15-year-old
8:10girl so I think it's safe to say that
8:12Diego is not a good person not somebody
8:14that Mary should be hanging around with
8:16but obviously she's desperate she's
8:17doing whatever she can to survive right
8:19now she's living on the streets so now
8:21that her companion Diego is gone Mary
8:25really doesn't know what to do because
8:27she relied on Diego a lot to help her
8:29out to get her somewhere to sleep get
8:32her food Etc and she was really lost
8:34without him so this is when Mary decided
8:37to hitchhike to stay for a little bit
8:40with her grandfather down in LA and yeah
8:43hitchhiking wow oh God I'm glad it's not
8:45really a thing anymore I mean at least I
8:47don't think it's a thing anymore but
8:49it's currently the 70s and hitchhiking
8:52was huge pretty much everyone did it and
8:54when Mary decided to hit hike this is
8:57when she had the unfortunate experience
8:59experience of meeting Lawrence Singleton
9:02which is obviously the evil monster of
9:03today's case so the date is the 29th of
9:06September 1978 now Mary had a long way
9:09to go she had quite a long way to
9:11hitchhike and her journey started off
9:13really well she managed to hitch a ride
9:15with a couple of different people and
9:17everything goes great because most of
9:19the time hitchhiking back in the 70s was
9:22fine most of the time people did pick
9:25other people up off the side of the
9:26streets with good intentions however
9:29people like Lawrence Singleton used to
9:31use that to their advantage so Mary
9:34managed to Hitch a couple of rides with
9:36a couple of different people and she
9:37made it all the way to Berkeley in
9:39California and Berkeley is a college
9:42town a lot of young people obviously and
9:44a lot of hitchhikers as well and where
9:46Mary was dropped off by the previous
9:49hitchhikers it was actually called
9:51hitchhikers corner so it's not like Mary
9:53is stood on a deserted Road in the
9:56middle of the desert with her thumb out
9:57trying to get a ride she is in a very
9:59populated area she is stood with a lot
10:02of other hitchhikers so Mary is stood at
10:04hitchhiker's corner with a couple of
10:07other hitchhikers that are also heading
10:09south in the same direction as her and
10:11this is when Lawrence Singleton pulls up
10:15in his van so when Lawrence pulls up
10:17next to Mary Mary takes one look at him
10:21and she's like great he looks like a
10:24grandfather he just looks like an older
10:25man he looks friendly he has a nice
10:28smile on first impression questions Mary
10:29didn't get any kind of creepy vibes from
10:32him she just saw him as a grandfather
10:34and Lawrence says to Mary I'm also
10:37heading south so I can give you a ride
10:39and Mary is thinking great perfect I'm
10:42going to get in so Mary goes to climb
10:44into the van and the other hitchhikers
10:47that are standing with Mary that are
10:48also heading in the same direction go to
10:51get in the van as well and lence says oh
10:54no hold on hold on hold on I'm only
10:56taking Mary I don't want any other
10:59Hitchhikers in my van I don't have room
11:01and the other hitchhikers are looking at
11:03him and are like you have a van you have
11:06a van that is empty why do you only want
11:09to give this 15-year-old girl a ride and
11:12not everybody else and Lawrence was very
11:15insistent that he would only take one
11:18hitchhiker and that hitchhiker had to be
11:21Mary now immediately this set alarm
11:24Bells off in the other hitchhiker's mind
11:27they were thinking okay this is not
11:28right this is is creepy like why does he
11:31only want this 15-year-old girl he
11:33clearly doesn't have the best intentions
11:34but Mary is only 15 she's very naive and
11:38so far she's never had a bad experience
11:41hitchhiking but Mary is also desperate
11:43to get off the streets she can't bear
11:46the thought of spending another night on
11:48the streets she just wants to get to her
11:50own grandfather in La so Mary climbs
11:53into the van and the other hitchhikers
11:55that are standing with her are trying to
11:57warn her they say to her don't get in
11:59that van this is creepy he doesn't have
12:02the best intentions but Mary like I said
12:04was very naive and she climbed into
12:07Lawrence's van Mary saw Lawrence as this
12:09older man and he seemed completely
12:12harmless and Mary thought to herself
12:14well what's the worst that could happen
12:16and unfortunately this would be a
12:17decision that she would regret for the
12:19rest of her life so Mary is now in
12:21Lawrence's man completely alone and they
12:24set off towards La they are currently
12:27heading south and at first everything
12:28seemed great Mary's mind any kind of
12:31doubts that she did have from the other
12:33hitchhikers went out of her mind they
12:35were having a bit of small talk Lawrence
12:37was telling Mary that he also had a
12:39daughter of a similar age this
12:41information as well that Lawrence had a
12:43daughter also reassured Mary that oh
12:46he's not going to hurt me he has a
12:47daughter that's a similar age I probably
12:49remind him of his daughter so they carry
12:51on driving carry on having a little bit
12:53of small talk at some point in the
12:55journey Mary pulls out a cigarette and
12:58pulls a drag however at the same time
13:00she sneezes and in response to this
13:03which honestly gives me the creeps
13:05Lawrence reached out and stroked her
13:08neck that just really gives me the
13:10creeps and it gave Mary the creeps as
13:12well she instantly pulled away and as
13:14soon as Mary pulled away Lawrence did
13:16remove his hand straight away so Mary in
13:19her mind was just thinking okay he's a
13:21little bit weird that was a little bit
13:23creepy but at least he pulled his hand
13:25away straight away she thought to
13:27herself oh maybe he's just a bit touchy
13:29feeling maybe he's just a bit eccentric
13:31so Mary shakes off this little bit of a
13:33creepy moment she puts it to the back of
13:35her mind she probably doesn't want to
13:36think about it because right now she's
13:38alone in a van with this man so she
13:40probably doesn't really want to think
13:41about the fact that he is a creep so she
13:43puts it to the back of her mind and then
13:44at some point after that extremely
13:47creepy moment she does fall asleep and
13:49then a short while later when she wakes
13:51up from her nap she immediately knows
13:54something is wrong because they are
13:56heading in the wrong direction they are
13:59supposed to be heading south towards La
14:01but they're actually heading east
14:02towards Nevada and Mary starts to think
14:05back at all of the little creepy things
14:07that have happened so far she starts to
14:09think back about the fact that Lawrence
14:11didn't want any of The Hitchhikers in
14:13his van even though he has room the fact
14:16that Lawrence was adamant that it was
14:18only Mary that was allowed none of the
14:20other hitchhikers only Mary and then the
14:23fact that he stroked her neck after she
14:25sneezed and now they're heading in the
14:28wrong direction Mary was thinking okay
14:30no there is too many things now that
14:32have happened this is all adding up this
14:35is super weird he is creepy and she
14:37started to panic she thought okay I'm in
14:39a very bad situation here I need to get
14:42out of it so she reached under her seat
14:44to look for anything that she could use
14:46as a weapon if she needed to and she
14:48actually got her hands on this really
14:50long metal it was like a measuring stick
14:53I don't really know what that's supposed
14:54to look like but just like a long metal
14:56object essentially and she pulled it up
14:58from under under the sea and she started
15:00waving it at Lawrence and she was saying
15:02you're going the wrong way you were
15:03supposed to be heading south towards La
15:05why are you heading east towards Nevada
15:07turn around turn this van around and at
15:09this point you probably would think that
15:11Lawrence would lash out at Mary because
15:13of this become violent or either just
15:15ignore her but he responds in a very
15:17weird way he starts acting kind of like
15:19a blithering idiot essentially and he
15:21says oh I'm sorry I'm an old man I get
15:24confused very easily it was an innocent
15:26mistake I'm really sorry I'll turn the
15:29van around and we'll head in the right
15:31direction and Mary was like okay good I
15:34doubt with that I showed him he's scared
15:36of me now and Lawrence instantly turns
15:38the van around and they start heading
15:40back in the right direction which was
15:42south and Mary is instantly calm again
15:45she is at ease she thinks okay we're
15:47heading in the right direction now let's
15:50relax everything is going to go great so
15:52they are driving for a little bit in the
15:55right direction and they are now on a
15:58complete complely long deserted Road and
16:01I mean there is no one around there's
16:03barely any passing traffic they are
16:05literally in the middle of nowhere and
16:07we all know that this is not going to
16:09end well because there is no one around
16:11right now so at some point when they're
16:13driving along this really long deserted
16:16Road Lawrence puts his foot on The Brak
16:19very suddenly and he turns to Mary and
16:21says I've got to take a leak so Lawrence
16:23climbs out of the van and he goes to the
16:26bathroom and Mary gets out of the van as
16:28well to stretch her legs and she looks
16:31around
16:32realizes okay this is a very deserted
16:35Road there's no one around right now
16:38she's definitely getting creepy Vibes I
16:40mean she's obviously getting creepy
16:42vibes from Lawrence but just her
16:43surroundings it's very creepy it's also
16:46nighttime as well which makes everything
16:48a lot creepier and Mary starts to get
16:51that gut feeling that something's not
16:53right that something is going to happen
16:55she's feeling really uneasy and all of a
16:57sudden Mary feels really exposed she
17:00feels very vulnerable on this deserted
17:02road at night with this creepy man and
17:05she gets that impulsive thought in her
17:07head and she thinks to herself what if
17:10he attacks me so she starts to analyze
17:12the situation she lets that thought grow
17:15and she looks at Lawrence and she thinks
17:17okay he's old he doesn't look that
17:19healthy I'm young I'm fit I'm healthier
17:22than he is I could definitely outrun him
17:24and she looks down at the shoes that she
17:27is wearing and she's wearing trainers
17:29which are obviously good for running in
17:32but there is one problem and that is
17:34that her shoelaces are untied so she
17:37thinks to herself well okay if I'm going
17:39to run my shoelaces need to be tied so
17:42Mary bends down to tie her shoelaces
17:45unfortunately things escalate and take a
17:48very sudden tragic turn because in that
17:52exact moment when Mary bends down to tie
17:55her shoelaces Lawrence has creeped up
17:58behind her and smashes her over the head
18:01with a sledgehammer which when I read
18:04that for the first time I was like oh my
18:06God a sledgehammer and when I say he
18:09smashed her over the head with a
18:10sledgehammer I mean he used all of the
18:13strength in his body to smash Mary over
18:16the head with a sledgehammer he wanted
18:18to make sure that she was unconscious
18:20because he definitely did not need to
18:22use that amount of force so after being
18:24smashed over the head with the
18:26sledgehammer Mary immediately lost
18:29Consciousness and when she came round a
18:31short while later Lawrence was standing
18:34over her but unfortunately being smashed
18:37over the head with a sledgehammer was
18:39just the beginning it was about to get
18:41so much worse the first thing that
18:43Lawrence did when Mary came around was
18:46grab her hair and shove his penis in her
18:50mouth and then shortly after he forced
18:52Mary to perform oral sex on him he then
18:55grabbed her dragged her to the back of
18:57the van he tied her up and then
19:00throughout the remainder of the night
19:02Lawrence went on and raped Mary six
19:06times which is just absolutely
19:08horrifying and Mary was conscious the
19:11whole attack she was aware of what was
19:14going on she was fully awake she was
19:17looking at Lawrence doing this to her
19:19and this went on throughout the whole
19:21night and Mary she has said after the
19:24attack that she was thinking oh my God
19:27this is the worst thing I have ever ever
19:29been through I hope he kills me I want
19:33to die that is how bad this attack was
19:36Mary was wishing that Lawrence would
19:39kill her throughout the attack Mary was
19:41forced to drink a substance which she
19:44assumes was alcohol or some kind of
19:47mixture of alcohol she's not sure and I
19:49think Lawrence was just giving her this
19:52alcoholic beverage to subdue her to calm
19:56her down to make her easy to attack
19:59essentially but it didn't like I said
20:01Mary was conscious throughout the whole
20:03attack she was screaming through the
20:05whole thing she was pleading with
20:07Lawrence to stop she was pleading with
20:10him to let her go set her free she was
20:13saying to Lawrence please let me free I
20:16won't tell anyone just please let me go
20:20Set Me Free but Lawrence just ignored
20:22her and the brutal rapes carried on
20:24until the sun came up the next day and
20:27it's just truly heartbreaking what Mary
20:29has gone through up until this moment
20:32but we still have unfortunately a lot
20:34more to come so the sun had risen like I
20:36said it was the next day and Lawrence
20:39dragged Mary from the back of the van
20:42and dragged her into the open on this
20:45deserted desert road there was still no
20:47one around they were literally in the
20:49middle of nowhere I'm not being dramatic
20:51there there was nobody around Lawrence
20:54could literally do what he wanted he
20:56probably purposely went to this road
20:58knowing that that no one was going to
20:59disturb him Lawrence threw Mary onto the
21:02ground and she was completely beaten and
21:04bruised she was bleeding and Mary was
21:07still pleading with Lawrence to let her
21:10free set her free let her go and I've
21:12got to warn you all now the next thing
21:14that happens is probably one of the most
21:17horrifying and traumatic things I have
21:20ever heard happen to anyone because this
21:22is when Lawrence said to Mary you want
21:24to be set free I'll set you free this is
21:28when lawence went to the back of his van
21:30and pulled out a small axe from his
21:33toolbox he walks back to Mary grabs her
21:37left arm and swings the axe down on her
21:41forearm just below her elbow this
21:43happened very very quickly and Mary
21:46didn't quite know what was going on and
21:48she felt herself starting to fall back
21:52which really confused her because she
21:54was actually grabbing on to Lawrence and
21:57she was thinking why the hell am I
21:59falling backwards I'm grabbing on to
22:01this man but Mary continued to fall
22:04backwards to the ground but she fell she
22:06was still grabbing on to Lawrence and in
22:09that exact moment she looked down at her
22:12left arm and realized that he had cut
22:16her arm off in that one swing of his axe
22:20he had completely chopped her arm off
22:23clean I know I know what the actual hell
22:26why did Lawrence just go to the back of
22:29his van grab an Axe and cut her arm off
22:33what possessed him to do that why did he
22:35do that how have we gone from him
22:38brutally raping her in the back of a van
22:41to now chopping off her arm so Mary was
22:44now back on the ground lying there
22:46writhing in the most unimaginable pain
22:49and she could feel everything she didn't
22:52lose Consciousness or anything which I
22:54would have expected her to kind of black
22:56out or something from the pain from just
22:58something but she was aware of
23:00everything she could feel the pain she
23:01could feel the blood oozing out of her
23:03she could feel the hot liquid on her and
23:06she remembers the burning it burnt so
23:10badly the sharp pain but was Lawrence
23:13done no of course he wasn't because in
23:16that moment when Mary is lying on the
23:19ground Lawrence grabs her right arm and
23:22again he brought the axe down onto her
23:26right arm Lawrence had to bring the axe
23:29down three times onto Mary's right arm
23:33but the effect was still the same
23:35Lawrence had now chopped off Mary's
23:39right arm and again I think we just need
23:42to pause what the hell Lawrence has just
23:46cut off Mary's arms both arms just below
23:49the elbow I have never ever seen a case
23:54where there has been such a drastic
23:56escalation we have obviously ly covered
23:59cases where torture has been involved we
24:01have covered cases that have equally as
24:04disturbing things as what has just
24:06happened to Mary but I have never ever
24:08ever ever come across a case where there
24:10has been that kind of escalation there
24:13was no gradual buildup to the arm
24:15chopping for example he just did it and
24:18oh my God the pure nightmare that Mary
24:22is in right now again Mary was conscious
24:26through Lawrence cutting off her right
24:27arm she was conscious through the whole
24:29thing she was awake she was feeling
24:32everything none of us can even even try
24:35to put ourselves In Her Shoes in how
24:38much pain she was in psychologically
24:41physically and this is why I say
24:42Lawrence is pure evil pure evil he is a
24:46monster there is no other way to
24:48describe this man and I honestly don't
24:50know how she is still conscious like I
24:52don't I I don't know how has she not
24:53blacked out from the pain how is she not
24:55blacked out from blood loss but what is
24:58even even crazier is that when Lawrence
25:01had chopped off Mary's right arm Mary
25:04was lying there on the ground and she
25:06looked up at Lawrence and she could
25:08actually see her severed arm her severed
25:12right arm still gripping on to Lawrence
25:15I can't even imagine how that would have
25:18felt for Mary seeing her severed arm
25:21still attached to her attacker just
25:24before Lawrence had chopped off her
25:26right arm Mary Had grabbed onto
25:29Lawrence's arm and she must have grabbed
25:31on with so much force that when the arm
25:34was chopped off it was still attached
25:37like the muscles had frozen into place I
25:39don't quite know how that works I don't
25:41have any medical background or anything
25:43like that but I assume that that is how
25:45it happened and her arm was literally
25:46stuck to Lawrence and she could see
25:48Lawrence wriggling around the desert
25:50trying to flick her arm off him it's
25:53just unbelievable I can't believe I'm
25:54actually saying this I can't believe
25:56this is real and this actually happened
25:58to someone and Lawrence did eventually
26:00flick Mary's arm off and he was still
26:03not done of course he wasn't he then
26:05walked over to Mary and he grabbed her
26:09and dragged her to a nearby Ravine and
26:12this is when Lawrence took Mar's body
26:15and threw her off a 30 foot cliff I know
26:20where does this attack end what the hell
26:24but even still he was not done Lawrence
26:28came carefully made his way down this
26:3030t Cliff to Mary's body lying at the
26:34bottom and then he thought to himself I
26:36need to make sure that her body is
26:38completely concealed no one will be able
26:41to find her and I can get away with this
26:43so he picked up Mary's body and shoved
26:46her body into a concrete pipe he then
26:49thought to himself okay her body is
26:52hidden well enough now she's going to
26:54bleed out from her injuries and no one
26:57would be able to find her her he then
26:58carefully made his way back up the cliff
27:01got into his van and drove off and left
27:04Mary's body in that concrete pipe how
27:08can someone inflict so much pain on
27:12another person and I just don't know
27:14what the hell was going through
27:16Lawrence's head when he was doing this
27:18did he have this plan in mind from the
27:21very beginning I mean we don't know I'm
27:23just speculating here I think it's safe
27:25to say that he always knew he was going
27:27to sexually assault Mary from the moment
27:30he picked her up did he plan the murder
27:32did he want to murder her when he picked
27:34her up what was going through his mind
27:36what was his motive and his intention I
27:38feel like I'm leaning towards yes he did
27:42want to murder her because like I said
27:44the escalation was crazy how do you go
27:47from attacking someone in a van to then
27:49chopping off their arms and then leaving
27:51them to bleed out to death but we don't
27:53know it's just crazy that Mary is 15
27:57years old and she innocently got into
28:00this van with who she thought was a
28:03Granddad very friendly older man how did
28:06he then smash her over the head with a
28:09sledge Hammer rape her repeatedly
28:12through the night chopped off both of
28:15her arms threw her off a 30ft cliff and
28:20then shoved her body into a concrete
28:23pipe how did that actually happen to
28:25somebody but it did it happened to Mary
28:27Vincent and at this point you're
28:28probably thinking how the hell is she
28:31still alive because in case you've
28:33forgotten this is a Survivor Story how
28:37is it that after everything that
28:38Lawrence has put her through how is she
28:41still alive I honestly don't know but
28:45she is she is alive and she is still
28:48conscious in this concrete pipe Mary is
28:51strong and Mary was a fighter and
28:55somehow I really don't know how she was
28:58going to survive this so first of all as
29:00she was lying in this concrete pipe she
29:03was absolutely freezing because night
29:05have fallen by now she was so weak she
29:08was bleeding out she was losing so much
29:11blood this is when she started to hear a
29:13voice in her head because she was so
29:16sleepy all she wanted to do was fall
29:18asleep but that voice inside her head
29:21told her do not go to sleep you have to
29:25stay awake you have to get out of here
29:28because that man is going to do this to
29:32another person and you have to get out
29:35of this concrete pipe and stop him after
29:37everything that Mary has been through
29:39she is thinking about other potential
29:42victims she's not thinking about herself
29:44so with that thought in her mind she
29:47managed to gather the strength to get
29:49herself out of that concrete pipe and
29:51then once she was out of that pipe
29:53obviously both of her arms have been
29:55chopped off she is bleeding profusely
29:57and I really don't know how she is so
29:59coherent how is she thinking so
30:01logically but as soon as she gets out of
30:03that concrete pipe she thinks to herself
30:06okay I need to stop the bleeding of my
30:08arms otherwise I am going to bleed out
30:10so she shoved the ends of her arms just
30:13below the elbow she shoved them into the
30:15mud that was around her and the blood
30:18mixed with the mud it made this kind of
30:21paste formula and she was able to pack
30:23on this paste over her wounds to stop
30:26the bleeding and as well as stopping the
30:28bleeding Mary has also said that she
30:30needed to do that she needed to do
30:32something to the ends of her arms to
30:34stop the muscles from falling out and
30:36amazingly this mud blood paste that she
30:39had made was enough to clot up the
30:42wounds and they actually stopped
30:43bleeding and I just cannot get over how
30:46was she able to think of doing that
30:48she's 15 for starters but after
30:51everything she has been through to be
30:53able to think of doing something like
30:54that is honestly incredible so once Mary
30:57Had stopped the bleeding now she needed
31:00to get up this 30t cliff and we have to
31:03remember that this is a pretty steep
31:05Cliff I mean obviously Lawrence was able
31:07to get up and down but Mary has had her
31:10arms chopped off she is now trying to
31:12navigate the world for the first time
31:14without arms and she dragged her body up
31:16that cliff and it took every ounce of
31:19strength in her body and in her mind to
31:23get herself up that Cliff to the top and
31:25it actually took her all day it took her
31:28all day to get up this 30ft cliff and
31:31again I don't know how she did that how
31:33how did she do that and then once she
31:35was at the top obviously she was on this
31:37completely deserted road but in the
31:40distance she could hear traffic just a
31:43few passing cars every now and again and
31:45she thought to herself okay I need to
31:47head in the direction of those cars I
31:49need to get to that road because that is
31:52where I will get help so she followed
31:54the sounds of traffic and she walked for
31:58miles again this took her an incredibly
32:01long time in the state that she was in
32:03but she finally made it to the side of
32:05the road where she heard cars but it was
32:08still a pretty deserted Road there was
32:10still not that much passing traffic so
32:12now Mary is stood at the side of this
32:15road just hoping and praying that a car
32:18is going to come by and all she is
32:20thinking to herself is please please let
32:24a car pass because if a car passes I
32:27might be able to survive this so Mary
32:30stood at the side of that road for what
32:32must have felt like an eternity waiting
32:35for any car to pass now we have to
32:37remember that Mary who is currently
32:39stood at the side of this road is
32:41completely battered bruised she's
32:43covered from head to toe in blood she
32:46now has both arms missing whoever is
32:49going to come across Mary is in for a
32:51very very shocking sight and Mary was
32:54stood at the side of this road patiently
32:56waiting for for anyone to drive past
32:59when all of a sudden she sees a car in
33:02the distance and it is a red convertible
33:04and Mary is thinking oh my God I can't
33:07believe a car is coming they are going
33:09to help me and I'm going to survive this
33:11so Mary started frantically waving her
33:13arms in the air trying to flag this car
33:15down trying to get their attention and
33:17as the red convertible approached Mary
33:20they obviously saw her but they just
33:23drove past which is just so
33:25heartbreaking that they didn't stop to
33:27help her I mean I understand that coming
33:30across someone like Mary in the state
33:32that she's in that would be a shock for
33:34anyone but it's quite clear that she
33:37needs help you know and Mary at a later
33:39date has said that she doesn't hold it
33:41against the two people that were in that
33:43car she completely understands why they
33:46did drive past because she looked like
33:48something from a horror film but
33:50thankfully it wasn't long until another
33:53car drove ped this was another
33:54convertible that was driving past and
33:56there was a couple in the car and they
33:58were actually on their honeymoon so this
34:00couple on their honeymoon they had
34:02actually gotten lost they were never
34:04supposed to be on that road that Mary
34:06was but clearly it was fate and thank
34:08God they were because they saw Mary and
34:10they stopped they bundled her in the car
34:13they tried to help her as much as they
34:14could they tried to help her wounds and
34:16everything and they rushed to the
34:17nearest phone that they could because
34:19obviously we got to remember it's in the
34:2170s right now people do not have mobile
34:23phones so they had to get Mary in the
34:25car they drove to the nearest phone they
34:27phoned the Emergency Services paramedics
34:29immediately came out and Mary was
34:31actually airlifted to a hospital that
34:33would be able to help her injuries and
34:35Incredibly after everything that Mary
34:37had gone through she had actually lost
34:39about 50% of the blood in her body and
34:42the blood that was remaining in her body
34:44had reached a toxic level incredibly
34:47Mary survived it is one of the most
34:49incredible Survivor stories I think I've
34:51ever heard I honestly can't believe that
34:53she survived she is a fighter even
34:56though Mary had survived her ordeal
34:58wasn't over yet I mean she had suffered
35:01significant injuries and her recovery in
35:03hospital took a very long time they had
35:06to draft muscle from her legs to
35:09reconstruct part of her arm and then she
35:11was also fitted with prosthetic arms
35:13with hooks on the end and amazingly
35:15police after they discovered all of this
35:18the police found one of Mary's severed
35:21arms they actually found it over a 100
35:24miles from where it was cut off they
35:27found it in San Francisco it had washed
35:30up near the Golden Gate Bridge which
35:32honestly how how did they find that it's
35:34just crazy isn't it that they found her
35:36arm over 100 miles away from where it
35:38was cut off but obviously they found it
35:40too late there was nothing they could do
35:42so the recovery process that Mary had to
35:43go through was absolutely horrendous she
35:46was constantly proving that she was a
35:48Survivor that she was a fighter but her
35:51ordeal wasn't over yet because after she
35:53had recovered from her injuries she now
35:55had to go through the investigation to
35:58help the police catch the person that
36:00did this to her the police wanted to
36:01know who did this as soon as they
36:03possibly could but initially Mary was
36:05too traumatized to even talk to the
36:07police she couldn't give any
36:09descriptions she was a bit hazy on a few
36:11of the details and the police actually
36:13used forensic hypnosis to get the full
36:16story out of Mary which I think is crazy
36:19like how did they do that you don't hear
36:20of that happening very often do you and
36:22slowly over time bit by bit the details
36:24of the story came back to Mary which is
36:27honestly so sad that the story was
36:29coming back to her and she had to relive
36:31it all I mean obviously I'm glad that
36:33she was able to give the details to the
36:35police because I want Lawrence to be
36:37caught but then I also don't want her to
36:39relive it and Mary was able to give the
36:41police a pretty accurate description of
36:44Lawrence Singleton she was able to
36:46describe what he looked like and the
36:48police put together a composite sketch
36:50and let me tell you this sketch was
36:53accurate some of these sketches that
36:55they do yeah they don't look like anyone
36:57but this sketch of Lawrence singlet turn
36:59was so accurate that Lawrence's neighbor
37:03once he saw the sketch thought oh my God
37:06that is my neighbor Lawrence called up
37:08the police and said hey I know who that
37:10person in the sketch is that is my
37:12neighbor Lawrence Singleton so from this
37:14sketch because it was so good the police
37:16were able to track down Lawrence and on
37:19the 9th of October which was 2 weeks
37:22after the attack Lawrence Singleton was
37:24arrested Mary was then able to identify
37:27by him from a lineup and he was charged
37:30with the attack on Mary so Lawrence is
37:33now
37:34arrested but it's not over yet so
37:36initially in the interview Lawrence
37:38denies everything he's like no I don't
37:40know what this merry girl is talking
37:42about but it's all a bunch of Lies I
37:45mean what were we expecting were we
37:46really expecting him to hold his hands
37:49up and go yeah it was me I'm guilty if
37:52only it was that simple but Lawrence did
37:54actually have his own version of events
37:57of what happened which I just want to
37:59point out are complete BS but this is
38:01what Lawrence said he said that he did
38:03pick up Mary in Berkeley but he didn't
38:06just pick up Mary he also picked up two
38:09other hitchhikers and the other two
38:11hitchhikers were two men one of them was
38:14called Pedro and the other one was
38:16called
38:18Larry yeah he said he picked up a
38:20hitchhiker with the same bloody name as
38:22him now I'm not sure if Lawrence thinks
38:26he's being clever here because obviously
38:29Mary has identified her attacker and she
38:32has said that a man called Larry
38:35attacked her so I don't know if Lawrence
38:37is being clever here and thinking well
38:40if I say that one of The Hitchhikers
38:43names was also Larry maybe the police
38:46will think that it was actually that
38:47Larry that attacked Mary and not me so I
38:50don't know if he was being really clever
38:52even though it's not that clever but I
38:53don't know if he was being clever or
38:55just really stupid I don't know which
38:58one so Lawrence continues on with his BS
39:01story that he picked up Mary Pedro and
39:04Larry he said that all three of them
39:06went to a bar they had some drinks they
39:09smoked a bit of weed and then all three
39:12of the men so Lawrence Larry and Pedro
39:16all three of them paid for sex with Mary
39:19because Mary was a quote cheap [ __ ] and
39:23all of them paid $10 each for sex with
39:25her Lawrence denies raping her cuz he
39:28said it was consensual he said that he
39:30paid for it and he also denied cutting
39:32her arms off and said that it must have
39:34been Pedro or Larry that did that
39:36Lawrence then said that after all three
39:38of the men had sex with Mary Lawrence
39:41then dropped the three of them Mary
39:43Pedro and Larry off somewhere and when
39:46he dropped them off Mary was completely
39:49fine she wasn't attacked she wasn't
39:51raped and she still had her arms meaning
39:53that Lawrence is now blaming the attack
39:56on this ficticious Pedro or Larry
39:59thankfully Lawrence doesn't seem to be
40:00the Brightest Bulb in the Box because
40:02the police could see straight through
40:04this BS the police were hoping that they
40:06were going to be able to get a
40:08confession out of Lawrence to just make
40:10everything easier make him plead guilty
40:12then we won't have a trial and it would
40:14just be easier but no Lawrence was not
40:17going to do that instead the police had
40:19to try and collect as much evidence as
40:21they possibly could in order to get a
40:23conviction so they searched Lawrence's
40:25home and in Lawrence's home they they
40:27found a pack of Mary's cigarettes they
40:30also found remnants of burnt clothing
40:33that belonged to Mary clearly Lawrence
40:35had tried to cover his tracks the police
40:37also found that Lawrence had completely
40:40removed the carpet from the back of his
40:42van and completely cleaned his van from
40:45top to bottom and thoroughly washed
40:48everything trying to get rid of the
40:49evidence clearly trying to get rid of
40:51all the blood that was in there the
40:52police also learned that just days after
40:55the attack on Mary Lawrence tried to
40:57take his own life which the police took
41:01as a sign of guilt so after all of the
41:03evidence that they had gathered as well
41:04as Mary's testimony this was enough to
41:07take Lawrence Singleton to trial and
41:09this trial took place in March of 1979
41:12and at this trial Mary had to do one of
41:15the hardest things ever and that was
41:18take the stand she had to take the stand
41:21just feet away from Lawrence Singleton
41:24she had to look at her attacker and to
41:26make even worse to get to the stand she
41:29had to walk past Lawrence after she had
41:32given her testimony on the stand she
41:34left the stand she had to walk back past
41:37Lawrence and as she was walking past
41:40Lawrence Lawrence said quote if it's the
41:43last thing I do I will finish the job
41:47which oh my God will this man not leave
41:51her alone has he not done enough who the
41:54hell does he think he is like literally
41:56and I don't think think he was
41:57reprimanded in any way for saying that I
41:59don't know if anyone else heard I assume
42:01that they did but thankfully the jurry
42:04found Lawrence guilty on all charges
42:08thankfully and there were a lot of
42:09charges he was convicted of kidnapping
42:12mutilation of a body part attempted
42:15murder forcable rape sodomy and forced
42:18oral copulation so you would think after
42:21being convicted of all of those offenses
42:24he would get a very long prison sentence
42:28he would be going away for the rest of
42:29his life he would never be able to get
42:32out and hurt anybody else well you would
42:34be wrong unfortunately because all of
42:36those offenses he was only and I want to
42:40stress this only sentenced to
42:4214 years how the hell did that happen
42:46how how how but apparently in California
42:49at the time this was the maximum
42:51sentence that he could have gotten the
42:53maximum sentence for attempted murder at
42:55the time was only 10 years and the
42:58maximum sentence for rape was only two
43:01so yes Lawrence Singleton was only
43:03sentenced to 14 years and he was
43:06transferred to San Quinton prison to
43:09serve his time and that should have been
43:11the end of the video shouldn't it I
43:13should have said and Lawrence Singleton
43:15was sentenced to life in prison without
43:18the possibility of parole and we should
43:20be ending the video but we are not
43:23unfortunately there is one more victim
43:26to talk about but but we still have a
43:28hell of a lot to get through before we
43:29get there after Lawrence was sentenced
43:31to prison Mary tried to rebuild her life
43:35but it's almost like how do you rebuild
43:37your life after something like that
43:39happens to you what is just so
43:41incredibly sad and it was really sad
43:43when I found out this but Mary's family
43:46were completely different towards her
43:49after the attack they didn't know how to
43:52look at Mary the same as before now that
43:54she was living without arms which is
43:56just honest so sad it's like Mary has
43:59been through enough how can her family
44:01treat her like that just because she
44:04doesn't have arms just because she's
44:06being attacked because she's a victim
44:08it's like oh my God that is your
44:10daughter that is your sister and
44:13eventually over time her family just
44:15drifted away from her and she became
44:18estranged from her family Mary is also
44:20living in constant fear that one day
44:23Lawrence Singleton is going to be
44:25released from prison and the years went
44:27by and Mary did what she could to live a
44:30somewhat normal life she ended up
44:33getting engaged she went on to have two
44:36children however as her wedding day was
44:38approaching the stress inside her was
44:41building up and it wasn't just normal
44:43wedding day stress she was actually
44:45getting stressed because the release
44:48date of Lawrence singlet turn was
44:50looming closer and closer and she just
44:53had this really bad feeling in her
44:55stomach she had that gut feeling game
44:57and then on her wedding day which I
45:00cannot believe like I've said before
45:02give this woman a break she found out on
45:05her wedding day that Lawrence singlet
45:08turn was going to be released after only
45:12serving 8 years he was being released
45:15early due to good behavior and what are
45:19the odds that she found out that news on
45:23her wedding day apparently at the time
45:25California were really struggling with
45:27overcrowding in their prisons so because
45:30of this they put into place these work
45:33incentive schemes which essentially
45:35allowed prisoners to work off their
45:38prison sentence so for every day that
45:40they work in prison they get a day taken
45:42off their prison sentence and Lawrence
45:45worked in prison he was actually a
45:46teaching assistant at one point I think
45:48he did a couple of other things but
45:50essentially he was working in prison and
45:52as he was working each day he worked a
45:55day was being taken off his prison
45:57sentence which then allowed him to be
45:58released after only 8 years and listen I
46:03understand these schemes I also
46:05understand overcrowding I understand
46:07that if you are suffering with
46:09overcrowding you need to do something I
46:11completely understand that okay but I
46:14don't care what anybody says these
46:16schemes should not be available to
46:20dangerous violent prisoners like
46:24Lawrence it's like surely you can do
46:26something think about your overcrowding
46:28without releasing violent dangerous
46:32people it's like give these schemes to
46:35the people that have committed drug
46:36offenses or theft or fraud those kinds
46:40of offenses don't allow prisoners to
46:43participate in these schemes if they've
46:45raped and tortured people I'm sorry I'm
46:47going to get angry like seriously it
46:49just really annoys me and not only that
46:51Lawrence was also showing No Remorse for
46:53what he had done nothing throughout his
46:55time in prison he continued to say that
46:58Mary had made it up he was actually the
47:01victim of Mary's lies and just before
47:03his release he actually did have a
47:05psychological evaluation and in that
47:08evaluation it said quote Lawrence
47:10Singleton is so out of touch with his
47:13hostility and his anger that he is an
47:17elevated threat to others safety both
47:21inside and outside of the prison I'm
47:24sorry and he was still released how did
47:28he have a psychological evaluation that
47:30said all of that and he still got out
47:32it's like overcrowding cannot be that
47:34bad that you are being forced to release
47:37a man like this so Lawrence goes ahead
47:40and leaves prison he's given onee parole
47:43and this next bit is actually kind of
47:45funny at least I found it very funny
47:47because when Lawrence Singleton left
47:49prison not a single place in California
47:53wanted him so the story of Lawrence
47:55Singleton and what he had done to Mary
47:57Vincent had actually become pretty big
47:59news a lot of people knew about it and a
48:01lot of people knew that he was being
48:03released from prison and no one wanted
48:05him living in their area people
48:08literally and I mean literally came out
48:11with their pitchforks to prevent
48:13Lawrence living in their area and this
48:15was happening over and over again so the
48:18first town that Lawrence settled in over
48:22400 residents from the local area showed
48:25up to protest test him and they wanted
48:28him out of their area there was one time
48:29as well where he was placed in a hotel
48:32just for one night to figure out where
48:34he was going to go and people found out
48:36that he was in this hotel and 175 people
48:39turned up outside of this hotel in
48:41protest and this was happening over and
48:43over again wherever Lawrence went people
48:45were literally showing up and protesting
48:48they did not want him anywhere near them
48:50and I completely understand I mean would
48:52you want Lawrence Singleton to live next
48:55door to you so in the end because
48:56California just didn't know what to do
48:59with him he literally had nowhere to go
49:01they ended up putting Lawrence in a
49:03trailer on the grounds of s Quinton
49:06prison because nobody wanted him so he
49:09had to basically go back to prison and
49:12live in the prison grounds for a year
49:14while he was still on parole and there
49:15was so much outrage about Lawrence
49:18Singleton and what he had done to Mary
49:20and the fact that he was released early
49:22California actually released new
49:25legislation that was called the
49:27Singleton bill it was even named after
49:30him and this bill prevented prisoners
49:32from being released early if their crime
49:36included torture and also the minimum
49:38term for a crime involving torture would
49:41also be 25 years but what is just so
49:45annoying is that they didn't apply this
49:48to Lawrence Singleton himself I
49:52understand that you can't apply law
49:55retrospectively
49:57I do understand that I do I studied law
49:59but to name a bill after Lawrence
50:02Singleton the Singleton bill it's just
50:05so frustrating that they couldn't
50:08retrospectively apply that bill just to
50:12him I mean come on they've named it
50:13after him and I do get why they didn't
50:16but it's just so frustrating I wish they
50:17did because if they had applied that
50:20bill retrospectively to him what goes on
50:23to happen would have been prevented so
50:26after Lawrence serves his one-year
50:29parole in the prison grounds in his
50:31trailer he moves back to Tampa Florida
50:34which is where he was born in case
50:35you've forgotten and the same thing
50:37pretty much happens when he goes back to
50:39Tampa no one wants him so initially he
50:41went to live with his brother but then
50:43the house got firebombed by a protester
50:46because they found out that Lawrence was
50:47there so he quickly moved out someone
50:49even offered Lawrence
50:52$5,000 to leave the state eventually
50:55though he did find a community to settle
50:58down in and I think most of the people
51:00in this little town didn't know what he
51:02had done and then those that did know
51:04what he had done kind of just accepted
51:06it and kind of just thought to
51:08themselves well he served his time
51:11everyone deserves a second chance and I
51:13do believe that I do believe that people
51:15deserve Second Chances but not someone
51:17like Lawrence so whilst Lawrence is
51:19literally playing musical chairs with
51:22the towns that he's living in Mary is
51:24trying to rebuild her life but she is is
51:26still struggling with that especially
51:28since she's found out that Lawrence is
51:31now out because don't forget what he
51:33said to her at trial he said that he
51:36would finish the job I.E he would murder
51:39her and very tragically Mary's marriage
51:42broke down and after her marriage broke
51:44down everything in her life just seemed
51:47to fall apart she got into quite a
51:49little bit of debt she lost so much
51:51weight her weight fell under1 her health
51:54was also really suffering she could no
51:56longer afford the upkeep on her
51:58prosthetic arms and everything just
52:00seemed to be going wrong again for Mary
52:02but on top of all of
52:05that I cannot believe I'm about to say
52:09what I'm about to say but Lawrence
52:11Singleton had the nerve to sue Mary
52:16Vincent when he got out of prison
52:18Lawrence was now claiming that he was
52:21the victim of kidnapping at the hands of
52:24Mary Pedro and Larry you literally
52:29cannot make this stuff up it's honestly
52:32ridiculous how does this man have the
52:34nerve to sue Mary thankfully the lawsuit
52:39didn't get anywhere I just can't believe
52:41he even tried to bring it in the first
52:42place and Mary actually said you know
52:45what I'm not having this I'm suing you
52:47back and Mary won her lawsuit she
52:50actually won damages of $ 2.56 million
52:54but unfortunately Lawrence didn't have
52:56any money he only had $200 in his bank
52:59account so that is all that Mary got
53:01which is so frustrating because if
53:02anyone deserves $256 million it's Mary
53:06Vincent and I should also mention that
53:08it's not just Mary that is completely
53:10terrified now that Lawrence Singleton
53:12has been released from prison Lawrence's
53:14own daughter is also terrified because
53:18she is so scared that Lawrence is going
53:21to turn on her and kill her and his
53:23daughter was so scared because when he
53:26was in prison she phoned him up and said
53:29I am officially disowning you I do not
53:32want anything more to do with you and
53:34because of this now that he was released
53:35she was scared that he was going to come
53:37after her so as the years pass Lawrence
53:39is living in Tampa Florida somewhere and
53:42he does get involved in a little bit of
53:44crime every now and again and he
53:45actually does go back to prison on theft
53:48charges for stealing a $3 hat from
53:52Walmart it's like seriously why the hell
53:55are you stealing a $3 hat from Walmart
53:58who needs a hat that badly like
54:00seriously so it's now
54:031997 Lawrence is currently 69 years old
54:07and he was described by Neighbors at the
54:10time as a raging violent alcoholic he
54:13was also rumored to be able to drink two
54:16gallons of vodka a day at this point
54:19Lawrence's life had completely Fallen
54:21apart he was living a very lonely life
54:24and he was suffering a lot with
54:25depression his health was also failing
54:28there was rumors that he did have cancer
54:30and in February of 1997 a neighbor found
54:33him trying to commit suicide the
54:35neighbor intervened and actually saved
54:38Lawrence's life but the neighbor has
54:40later gone on to say that they regret
54:42this they regret helping him because if
54:45they had never discovered Lawrence and
54:46Lawrence was actually successful in
54:48taking his own life they wouldn't be
54:50another victim in this story an innocent
54:53person wouldn't have lost their life
54:55this is ially where we get to the part
54:57of the story where we meet Lawrence's
55:00last victim a woman called roxan Hayes
55:03roxan was 31 years old she was a mother
55:06of three and roxan had a very difficult
55:09childhood she had been sexually abused
55:11by her Granddad and this sexual abuse
55:13started from the age of 2 years old a
55:16father was also an alcoholic and he was
55:18a very violent man as well and he also
55:20physically abused roxan and then when
55:22roxan was 14 years old her mother died
55:26and it was at the age of 14 that roxan
55:28decided that she wanted to leave home
55:30and leave home for good so to say that
55:32roxan had it rough as a child is an
55:35understatement and even after leaving
55:37home things were still really difficult
55:39for roxan she became addicted to drugs
55:41she turned to sex work to fund her
55:43addiction this led to roxan going in and
55:45out of prison on prostitution charges
55:48but despite all of her hardship roxan
55:50was still a bright witty StreetWise
55:53person she just got on with everyone she
55:55was a really caring person she was a
55:57mother of three like I said and she did
56:00everything for her children her children
56:02always came first every little bit of
56:05money that she earned always went to the
56:07children first she wanted to make sure
56:09that her children never missed out that
56:10they had everything that they wanted
56:11they had parties at chuckecheese they
56:14always had really cool little Halloween
56:16outfits and it was on the 19th of
56:18February
56:201997 just days after Lawrence had tried
56:23to take his life that Lawrence picked up
56:25roxan in his van for sex work roxan was
56:29taken back to Lawrence's home and around
56:326:00 p.m. that night a neighbor came
56:34around to Lawrence's house to discuss
56:37some decorating work that he wanted
56:39Lawrence to do however when he peered
56:41inside Lawrence's window clearly he was
56:43knocking on the door and Lawrence wasn't
56:45answering he was about to witness the
56:47biggest shock of his life because he saw
56:5069-year-old Lawrence Singleton stood
56:54naked over roxan and and he was beating
56:57her and strangling her roxan at this
57:00point was still alive and she was
57:03screaming for help the neighbor banged
57:05on the window to try and distract
57:07Lawrence to try and stop the attack in
57:09whatever way he could and Lawrence
57:12stopped the attack turned and looked
57:14towards his neighbor stared the neighbor
57:17dead in the eye and then just turned
57:19back to rockan to finish the attack
57:22Lawrence didn't care that he had an
57:24audience he had tunnel vision of what he
57:25wanted to do so the neighbor dialed 911
57:28and a deputy arrived as quickly as they
57:31could but tragically it was too late the
57:34deputy knocked on the door personally I
57:36just feel like they should have kicked
57:38down the door but that's just me
57:40Lawrence answered the door he was
57:42completely naked he was covered in blood
57:46the deputy took one look at him and said
57:48uh what happened and Lawrence responded
57:51that he cut his finger whilst he was
57:54chopping vegetabl
57:56you think that cutting your finger
57:58whilst chopping vegetables is going to
58:00explain how you are covered in blood the
58:04deputy was having none of it of course
58:06and they stepped inside the house and
58:09tragically they found Roan's lifeless
58:11body on the living room floor she had
58:13been beaten strangled and stabbed
58:16multiple times in the head and torso
58:18Lawrence Singleton was immediately
58:21arrested and charged with the murder of
58:23roxan Hayes and I literally have no no
58:26words like I have no words how has he
58:29committed another murder oh my God if
58:32they had only just given him the
58:34appropriate sentence after the attack on
58:37Mary and obviously there was no denying
58:39that Lawrence was responsible for this
58:41murder I mean there was a witness and
58:43Lawrence didn't try to deny this murder
58:45he actually tried to justify it though
58:48he said that roxan had tried to steal
58:50from him and that is why he lashed out
58:53and murdered her now I do have a thing
58:56theory on why he killed roxan and I
58:58haven't seen this anywhere this is just
59:00my theory but I think he has been
59:02desperate to murder Mary Vincent I do I
59:06think he has had tunnel vision since the
59:09moment he left prison on finishing the
59:11job remember he said that to Mary if it
59:14was the last thing that he did he would
59:16finish the job well obviously Lawrence
59:18couldn't get to Mary he didn't know
59:20where Mary was and this is why he
59:22decided to take it out on roxan because
59:25if you look at Roan she actually looks
59:27very similar to Mary they both have dark
59:30hair dark eyes they have a very similar
59:32build they are also of a similar age
59:35because Mary would have been in her
59:37early 30s at the time of the attack on
59:39roxan they are so similar and this is
59:43why I think he went after roxan because
59:45she reminded him of Mary so that is my
59:49theory on why he murdered roxan because
59:51honestly it doesn't make any sense why
59:53did he murder roxan roxan had done
59:55absolutely nothing to him I mean
59:56obviously Mary had done nothing to him
59:58but like why murder roxan also his
1:00:01approach of the two murders as well cuz
1:00:03I know he didn't murder Mary but he
1:00:05tried to they're completely different
1:00:08when he tried to murder Mary he tried to
1:00:11cover it up he tried to get away with it
1:00:13he did it on a deserted Road where no
1:00:15one would see him where with roxan he
1:00:18did it in his own home he didn't try to
1:00:20cover it up and he admitted to it
1:00:22straight away those actions of those two
1:00:25murders are completely different which
1:00:27is why I think Lawrence was so desperate
1:00:29to murder Mary and obviously he couldn't
1:00:31get to her that he went to the next best
1:00:33thing and he almost didn't care if he
1:00:35got caught so Lawrence went to trial
1:00:37again for the murder of roxan Hayes and
1:00:40unbelievably Mary Vincent came out of
1:00:43hiding uhhuh she was in hiding she came
1:00:46out of hiding to take the stand she gave
1:00:50her own testimony of her own experience
1:00:53with Lawrence and with her testimony and
1:00:56witness statements from the neighbor and
1:00:58all of the evidence in the house
1:01:00Lawrence was found guilty of roxan
1:01:02Hayes's murder and this time Lawrence
1:01:05was sentenced to death and then in 2001
1:01:08whilst he was on death row awaiting
1:01:10execution Lawrence Singleton died in
1:01:13prison of cancer and when Mary first
1:01:16heard this news initially she was not
1:01:19happy she still didn't have the answers
1:01:21that she felt like she needed but then
1:01:23she saw the relief on her son's faces
1:01:27when they heard the news that he had
1:01:28died and this was enough for her this
1:01:30was all the closure that she needed
1:01:32Lawrence Singleton could no longer harm
1:01:35her family or herself and this was good
1:01:38enough for her Mary then remarried once
1:01:40more and this time she was able to
1:01:43rebuild her life she became more
1:01:46outgoing she became more like her old
1:01:49self she also set up a foundation to
1:01:51help the victims of traumatic crime and
1:01:54this is when she also started to talk
1:01:56about what had happened to her she was
1:01:58doing interviews talking about her
1:02:00ordeal and what she went through he
1:02:02replied you want to be set free I'll set
1:02:04you free and he lifted up a hatchet and
1:02:08that's when I I tried fighting him off
1:02:11and was kicking and screaming but I was
1:02:14realizing wait a minute I'm still
1:02:16holding on to his hand but I'm I'm
1:02:17laying on the ground that's when I
1:02:20realized that he had chopped off my left
1:02:22arm she would go around high schools
1:02:24local theaters she would speak in front
1:02:26of 200 plus people people that watch her
1:02:29talk are so inspired by her by her
1:02:32strength by her character her drive she
1:02:35even learned how to paint and she
1:02:37currently sells her artwork she truly is
1:02:41an incredible human being she has so
1:02:44much strength and I am so so happy that
1:02:47she was able to rebuild her life and she
1:02:49is thriving so thankfully Mary was able
1:02:52to rebuild her life but sadly the same
1:02:55cannot be said for roxan Hayes roxan
1:02:58Hayes was described as a bright witty
1:03:01caring person she was an incredibly
1:03:04loving mother of three and she would do
1:03:06absolutely anything for her children her
1:03:09children were her whole world she had
1:03:11suffered so much at a young age but her
1:03:14kids remained the most important thing
1:03:17in the world to her and I think we must
1:03:18remember that her three children are
1:03:21also a victim in this case because
1:03:23Lawrence Singleton took away their
1:03:26mother and roxan Hayes was only 31 years
1:03:30old she was so incredibly young she had
1:03:33so much more to give and Lawrence took
1:03:35her away from her children so this case
1:03:38is filled with so much heartbreak and
1:03:40also happiness as well that Mary
1:03:43survived and she was able to rebuild her
1:03:46life but then so much heartbreak for
1:03:48what Mary went through but then also
1:03:50roxan she lost her life and Lawrence
1:03:52Singleton is literally like I have
1:03:55already said said one of the purest
1:03:57forms of evil I've ever come across I
1:03:59think it's also important to say right
1:04:01here that I don't think that Mary
1:04:03Vincent was Lawrence Singleton's first
1:04:07victim investigators actually did look
1:04:09into some cold cases and some murders of
1:04:12sex workers that happened around the
1:04:14same time and area and they tried to
1:04:16link Lawrence to these murders to see if
1:04:18he had done them but they didn't have
1:04:20enough evidence to prove that he did but
1:04:22I think if we just think about it he was
1:04:24in his 50s when he attacked Mary that is
1:04:28so old to start committing crime the
1:04:32crimes that he committed they were very
1:04:34sexually violent you don't just wake up
1:04:37one day and commit crime like that given
1:04:40his job as well he traveled a lot which
1:04:44is unfortunately the perfect cover but
1:04:47that is just speculation there is no
1:04:49evidence to prove that but yeah that is
1:04:52just my thoughts and theories but let me
1:04:55know what of your thoughts theories and
1:04:57opinions down below I really want to
