- 0:02the secret appointment is simple find
- 0:05revise and learn as many points that the
- 0:08examiners use as fast as possible so
- 0:10what goes wrong for a lot of people
- 0:12first you find points no one asks in the
- 0:15hope they will be asked there are 3,000
- 0:18points asked more than 20 times each
- 0:19year and 6,000 points asked over a
- 0:212-year period so when you are finding
- 0:24points no one has asked there are
- 0:26already 3,000 outstanding places that
- 0:28you are yet to learn second you use
- 0:31techniques that diminish your learning
- 0:33rather than help it by this I mean
- 0:35taking notes taking notes on a point has
- 0:37several failings especially for
- 0:39beginners first how do you know what
- 0:41note to take or do you just take notes
- 0:43on everything second will your note be
- 0:45clearer and easier to understand than
- 0:48what already exists on the internet such
- 0:50as Google street or Apple Street View
- 0:52third taking notes is timec consuming
- 0:55time that would be better spent revising
- 0:57by repetition there is not a single
- 0:59benefit to taking notes but there are
- 1:01several
- 1:03drawbacks why do people take
- 1:06notes it's a comfort blanket but what
- 1:09you would be better off doing is
- 1:10revising correctly when you take a note
- 1:13a few things happen first if there are
- 1:16lots of notes you can write them
- 1:19unconsciously and like reading a book
- 1:21and daydreaming at the same time you
- 1:23know you read it but you remember
- 1:24nothing second your brain goes into
- 1:26autopilot it knows it does not need to
- 1:29remember the information because it's
- 1:31writing it down so in this instance
- 1:33taking notes is the complete avoidance
- 1:36of trying to remember so imagine for a
- 1:38second you write down a phone number
- 1:40compared to not writing it down but
- 1:42attempting to remember it you will know
- 1:45the moment you have remembered it as you
- 1:47kept repeating it to yourself the
- 1:49writing is the postponement of trying to
- 1:52remember it lastly on this subject if
- 1:54you do not remember the name of the
- 1:55point and the road it is in then you
- 1:58literally have nothing your first
- 2:00priority is to know the point's name and
- 2:02location that's it everything else is
- 2:05detailed to be added as and when you
- 2:08know you need it learn the point first
- 2:10detail is learned from point to point
- 2:13the last mistake made is pointing in
- 2:15post codes this is the lazy person's
- 2:17method you will see less and take longer
- 2:20to do it wasted time will reduce your
- 2:22revision time which will affect the
- 2:24depth to which you learn the points
- 2:27let's look at this quick example of
- 2:28pointing geographically I go straight to
- 2:30the point nearest my home I work my way
- 2:32to an area with a cluster and I come
- 2:34back a different way pointing on my way
- 2:37back it's all organized postcodes would
- 2:40miss all of this and still need to be
- 2:42organized in your chosen post code
