  1. 0:02Hello everyone, meet me again, Clarity
  2. 0:04Primasari, in this IT Service
  3. 0:05Management course. ITIL. ITIL stands
  4. 0:09for Information Technology
  5. 0:11Infrastructure Library. It is a
  6. 0:14framework that provides advice or
  7. 0:16guidance on how IT service providers
  8. 0:19should implement successful IT service
  9. 0:21management. This framework was created
  10. 0:28based on the best practices of large
  11. 0:30organizations in running IT service
  12. 0:32management and has been tested across
  13. 0:34various types of industries and
  14. 0:36organizations. It is important to know
  15. 0:42that ITIL is merely a guide, not a
  16. 0:44standard where every aspect must be met
  17. 0:46. Every organization is given the
  18. 0:49flexibility to decide how to adopt and
  19. 0:51adapt the ITIL framework according to
  20. 0:53their own specific needs and conditions
  21. 0:55. History of ITIL. ITIL was first
  22. 1:03published in the late 1980s by a UK
  23. 1:05government agency called the Central
  24. 1:08Computer and Telecommunications Agency,
  25. 1:11or CCTA. The CCTA later merged into the
  26. 1:16Office of Government Commerce (OGC),
  27. 1:18which, until 2011, consistently
  28. 1:20documented and promoted industry best
  29. 1:22practices. In 2011, ownership of the
  30. 1:30best practice documentation, including
  31. 1:32ITIL, transferred to the Cabinet Office
  32. 1:34when the UK government underwent a
  33. 1:35reorganization. When first published
  34. 1:41between 1989 and 1996, the first
  35. 1:43version of ITIL consisted of 31 books
  36. 1:46covering all aspects of provision. The
  37. 1:54main goal of ITIL is to support
  38. 1:56organizational success by synergizing
  39. 1:58IT services with current and future
  40. 2:01business and customer needs, while
  41. 2:03continuously improving IT service
  42. 2:05quality and reducing long-term IT
  43. 2:08service costs. Benefits of adopting
  44. 2:17ITIL. First, treating IT as a strategic
  45. 2:20asset rather than a cost center. Second
  46. 2:23, aligning IT services with current and
  47. 2:25future business and customer needs, and
  48. 2:28having good IT planning with programmed
  49. 2:30, routine, and standardized IT
  50. 2:32activities. Third, increasing the
  51. 2:36utilization of IT resources. Fourth,
  52. 2:38eliminating unnecessary redundant
  53. 2:40activities. Fifth, reducing the number
  54. 2:43of errors and the volume of rework.
  55. 2:50Sixth, improving the ease of system
  56. 2:52development or scalability and IT
  57. 2:54service resources. Seventh, reducing
  58. 2:57long-term IT service costs and
  59. 2:58performing continuous improvements to
  60. 3:01systems and IT service quality. Eighth,
  61. 3:06increasing the availability,
  62. 3:08reliability, stability, and security of
  63. 3:10IT services by being able to display IT
  64. 3:12service performance indicators to
  65. 3:14justify service costs against the
  66. 3:16quality of IT services provided. So,
  67. 3:23why is ITIL so successful? ITIL has
  68. 3:28been proven successful and has been
  69. 3:29adopted by many of the world's large
  70. 3:31organizations and companies. These
  71. 3:33include the US Army, USA and local
  72. 3:36governments, Bell University, AXA
  73. 3:38Insurance Group, Boeing, Disney, Thales
  74. 3:41, Toyota, Visa, and other major
  75. 3:43companies. The reasons why ITIL is
  76. 3:50popular and successfully adopted by
  77. 3:51many organizations are: first, ITIL was
  78. 3:53developed from a practical service
  79. 3:55management approach that has truly
  80. 3:56proven successful in practice. It is
  81. 3:59based on the best practices of leading
  82. 4:01service provider companies in the world
  83. 4:03. Second, ITIL aims to deliver value to
  84. 4:07the business and is proven to increase
  85. 4:08organizational efficiency and enhance
  86. 4:10customer satisfaction with IT services.
  87. 4:13Third, it is scalable. This means ITIL
  88. 4:16can be implemented regardless of the
  89. 4:18number of IT staff we have. With ITIL,
  90. 4:20we can empower existing staff. Fourth,
  91. 4:27ITIL requires staff to focus more on
  92. 4:29things that are truly important in
  93. 4:30providing IT services. Fifth, ITIL is
  94. 4:34not tied to any specific type of
  95. 4:36organization. ITIL can be adopted and
  96. 4:38adapted to any service organization.
  97. 4:41ITIL is suitable and beneficial for
  98. 4:43public and private organizations,
  99. 4:45internal and external service providers
  100. 4:47, large, medium, or small companies
  101. 4:49with any technical condition. Sixth,
  102. 4:53ITIL is not tied to a specific
  103. 4:55technology platform, or is
  104. 4:56vendor-neutral. ITIL as good or best
  105. 5:02practice. Good practice is an activity
  106. 5:05or process that has been implemented by
  107. 5:07many people or organizations and has
  108. 5:10proven to work well and produce the
  109. 5:12desired outcomes, making it recommended
  110. 5:15as a model worth imitating or adopting
  111. 5:17by anyone or any organization.
  112. 5:21Meanwhile, best practice is an activity
  113. 5:23or process proven to be most effective
  114. 5:25and developed from the experience of
  115. 5:26the most successful organizations in
  116. 5:28their field. Good or best practice is
  117. 5:32not just a theory or something new that
  118. 5:33has never been tried before. Instead,
  119. 5:36it has been proven, accepted, and used
  120. 5:38widely by the industry. Good or best
  121. 5:45practice is developed both from the
  122. 5:47academic world, such as research
  123. 5:49results, case studies, training and
  124. 5:51education, and from industrial
  125. 5:52experience, such as ISO standards,
  126. 5:54COBIT frameworks, internal
  127. 5:55organizational experience, and common
  128. 5:57industry practices. Opportunities for
