MILLIONS in ISK Waiting - Ghost Sites & Sleeper Cache Complete Breakdown! — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00In a recent video, we got ourselves
- 0:01started with exploration, one of the
- 0:03best income paths for new players. So,
- 0:06how do we go to the next level with
- 0:08exploration? There are a few exploration
- 0:10sites in EVE that can pay insane amounts
- 0:13of ISK, but they also punish explorers
- 0:15who don't know what they're doing. In
- 0:17this video, I'm going to show you two of
- 0:19them and how to walk away with the loot.
- 0:25Hello everyone. My name is Lynn Rakken
- 0:27and today I'm going to guide you through
- 0:30some of the more challenging exploration
- 0:32sites to deal with in New Eden. In my
- 0:34last exploration video, I gave you
- 0:36guidance on how to get started with
- 0:38exploration and start experimenting with
- 0:41mechanics like scanning, hacking, and
- 0:44the different hidden rules that will
- 0:46take the activity from frustrating to
- 0:48financially rewarding. Now we'll be
- 0:50taking this further. You should be
- 0:52familiar with the basic exploration
- 0:54sites by now. Maybe even taking your
- 0:57exploration frigate into low sec for
- 0:59some spicier loot. And maybe some of you
- 1:02have found sites such as ghost sites,
- 1:04not the besieged ghost sites. Those are
- 1:07combat sites and not hacking sites.
- 1:09You'll die in a scanning ship. And
- 1:11sleeper caches. That's what we're going
- 1:14to be tackling today, ghost sites and
- 1:17then the limited sleeper cache, the
- 1:19first of three levels of sleeper caches.
- 1:22These sites offer a massive rewards, but
- 1:24linger too long or fail a hack and there
- 1:26goes your ship and everything you
- 1:28collected to this point. This is why I'm
- 1:30making this guide so you can more
- 1:32confidently take on these sites and walk
- 1:35away with the loot as safely as can be.
- 1:39Before we get into the mechanics of
- 1:40these sites, we're going to talk about
- 1:43the fits. I have two fits for you today,
- 1:46one for Omega pilots and one for Alpha
- 1:48pilots. We're going to start with the
- 1:51Alpha version. We're going to continue
- 1:53progressing down Caldari and we're going
- 1:54to use the Heron Navy Issue. This is a
- 1:58relatively cheap alternative to
- 1:59something like the Astero while giving
- 2:01us some improved hit points and
- 2:03survivability while still retaining that
- 2:05large cargo hold from the Heron and
- 2:07being bonus for hacking. And though an
- 2:10alpha pilot still cannot cloak, this
- 2:12gives you a cheap way to progress
- 2:14towards a covert ops frigate like the
- 2:16Buzzard. A lot of these modules we've
- 2:18talked about before in other videos, so
- 2:20I won't rehash why we have them
- 2:22equipped. Instead, I'll explain the
- 2:24overall concept of why we have this
- 2:26setup. You'll notice here we're actually
- 2:29maximizing our explosive resistances
- 2:31because if we fail a hack, we will be
- 2:33able to absorb the explosion damage from
- 2:36a ghost site. And they only do explosive
- 2:38damage. We should be able to absorb a
- 2:41low sec container. Though, make sure
- 2:43your micro warp drive is not on when
- 2:45you're failing a hack. We've also
- 2:48upgraded our probes, not the launcher,
- 2:51the probes themselves, to Sisters Core
- 2:54Scanner Probes. This will give us just a
- 2:56little extra hand when scanning sites
- 2:59down. With a mobile depot in our cargo
- 3:01hold as well, we have the ability to
- 3:03swap fitting in space as we need to for
- 3:06things like sleeper caches where we need
- 3:08to be able to run data and relic
- 3:10containers while still remaining tanky.
- 3:13Lastly, you'll notice that I have a
- 3:15cargo scanner in my cargo hold. This is
- 3:17for refitting with the mobile depot.
- 3:19That's because when we are in ghost
- 3:21sites, we rarely will be able to hack
- 3:23all the cans. We'll want to hack the
- 3:25most valuable one or two cans and get
- 3:27out before the NPCs arrive and start
- 3:30destroying the leftovers or start
- 3:31shooting you. So, with these sites, you
- 3:33don't need to worry about cherry picking
- 3:35because as soon as you arrive in a ghost
- 3:38site, you're on the clock. And then the
- 3:40site will respawn somewhere else. This
- 3:42alpha Heron Navy Issue is about 22
- 3:44million ISK at the time of this video.
- 3:46Now, I'm going to show you a omega
- 3:48variation of this fit. It still can't
- 3:51cloak, but again, you should be working
- 3:53your way up to that little by little.
- 3:55And because of our Omega skills, we're
- 3:58able to fit more powerful variants of
- 4:01modules we had on the Alpha version. And
- 4:03we've also upgraded our core probe
- 4:05launcher from tech one to a Sisters core
- 4:09probe launcher. Why do we not go for
- 4:11tech two? Because the tech two version
- 4:13only offers a 5% bonus to scanning
- 4:16strength. And the Sisters variant
- 4:18provides 10% bonus while being less
- 4:20skill intensive. It is more expensive.
- 4:22It's actually worth the entire ship by
- 4:25itself, pushing our ship's price up to
- 4:2764 million ISK at the time of this
- 4:29video, but it's definitely worth it and
- 4:31why it's considered a standard. Just
- 4:33make sure you can afford three of your
- 4:36fully fitted ships before committing to
- 4:39upgrading to a Sisters core probe
- 4:40launcher. Now, for the purpose of this
- 4:42video, I will be using my Lynn ranking
- 4:44character and her skills. However, I
- 4:47will be limiting myself to the Alpha
- 4:49variation of the Heron Navy issue. This
- 4:51should give you a little bit of an idea
- 4:53how this operates, but just for ease, I
- 4:56use my Lynn ranking character.
- 4:58Take that as you will. With all this
- 4:59set, I'm going to go ahead and undock
- 5:01and I'll see you when we find a ghost
- 5:04site. If you want a free 1 million skill
- 5:06points to use however you want, you can
- 5:07use my recruitment link in the
- 5:09description below for 1 million free
- 5:12skill points to give you a quick boost
- 5:14in training your skills. However, I
- 5:16recommend you check out and prioritize
- 5:18the EVE University core skill plans,
- 5:21also linked down below. I do receive
- 5:23rewards if you upgrade to Omega or
- 5:25purchase Plex. Now, we found ourselves a
- 5:28standard ghost site. Finally, I had to
- 5:31scan down literally 100 signatures to
- 5:35find this ghost site. These go fairly
- 5:37quick and you need to be working
- 5:39quickly. I'm going to pause and explain
- 5:41what's on screen as needed in this
- 5:43section of gameplay. Firstly, my silly
- 5:45brain blocked out that we needed the
- 5:47cargo scanner in the mids and I was too
- 5:49tanky. By removing the multi-spectrum
- 5:51shield hardener, we should still have
- 5:53enough tank to fail a hack and move on
- 5:56and leave the site in safety. When we
- 5:58get into the site, I start cargo
- 6:00scanning and find the top two to three
- 6:02most valuable cargo containers and I
- 6:04start working on hacking them. The hacks
- 6:06themselves are actually not that
- 6:08difficult. However, if we leave the
- 6:10hacking mini-game, it is interpreted
- 6:12[music] as a fail and it explodes. Like
- 6:15it happened here when I tried to run
- 6:17from the NPC pirates when they showed
- 6:19up. Thankfully, I did not have my micro
- 6:21warp drive on, but I did not have my
- 6:23explosive shield hardener on, so we
- 6:24nearly blew up. Suffice to say, that was
- 6:27a close one. That's the basic principle
- 6:29for running a ghost site in EVE Online.
- 6:32Find the most valuable two to three
- 6:33cans, hack them, and get out. The hacks
- 6:36themselves are not that difficult. It's
- 6:38more of the pressure of don't fail. Make
- 6:41sure your explosive shield hardener is
- 6:43on and if NPCs are coming in, hurry to
- 6:46finish the current hack and get out
- 6:47quickly or face tank the can like I did.
- 6:50And for our trouble, we warped out with
- 6:52loot worth 200 million ISK if you factor
- 6:55in the implants. Keep in mind, the
- 6:58margins on implants is very thin. So,
- 7:01doing data and ghost sites will help you
- 7:03collect most of the material need in
- 7:05order to actually make the implants
- 7:07instead of buying the materials to make
- 7:09the implants. When I was wrapping up my
- 7:12session, well, get to the limited
- 7:13sleeper cache here in a moment, I found
- 7:15a lesser ghost site, which is the high
- 7:17sec version of these ghost sites and
- 7:20much easier to run and I made about 100
- 7:22million ISK in this site if you include
- 7:25the blueprints I got. Now, we can start
- 7:26looking for a sleeper cache. I'll get
- 7:29back to you with it after we find it. If
- 7:31you are considering purchasing Omega or
- 7:33Plex for EVE Online, I recommend you use
- 7:36my creator codes in the description of
- 7:38the video to show your support for the
- 7:40channel. With the EVE Online store, you
- 7:42can use my code Lynn to show your
- 7:44support for the channel, or you can use
- 7:46my code Lynn in the Marque Dragon store
- 7:49for 3% off your EVE Online purchases. I
- 7:52do receive a small kickback when you use
- 7:54these codes. We found ourselves a
- 7:56limited sleeper cache. So, what are
- 7:58sleeper caches in general? Essentially,
- 8:00they're all puzzle dungeons full of
- 8:02environmental hazards and things you
- 8:04need to hack in order to manipulate the
- 8:06room to safely reach loot. There's three
- 8:08levels of sleeper caches currently in
- 8:10the game: limited, standard, and
- 8:12superior. We'll be talking about the
- 8:14other two sleeper caches in a future
- 8:17dedicated exploration video. Today,
- 8:19we'll be focusing on the beginner
- 8:22version of these caches. After scanning
- 8:24the signature, you land in an entry
- 8:26pocket containing a container called the
- 8:28hyperflunct generator. We need to hack
- 8:31the hyperflunct generator. When we
- 8:33successfully hack this, a spatial rift
- 8:36will spawn and it'll act like a gate
- 8:38that'll get us into the main puzzle
- 8:39room. If we fail, it starts a 2-minute
- 8:42timer. If we don't succeed a hack within
- 8:45that timeframe, the entire site
- 8:47despawns. Once we successfully hack the
- 8:49site, go ahead and enter the rift. When
- 8:51we arrive in the main area called the
- 8:53ransacked storage site, it's important
- 8:55to see what kind of environmental
- 8:57hazards exist here. We have damage
- 8:59clouds, structures that explode if we
- 9:01get too close to them, and a force field
- 9:04that will activate if we get too close
- 9:06to a depot. The recommended process is
- 9:09to cargo scan all of the containers
- 9:11first and decide which ones are worth it
- 9:12so that way we know which puzzles we
- 9:14need to go for. This matters because
- 9:16some containers require extra puzzle
- 9:18steps. I didn't do this because I wanted
- 9:21to show you how to get to each
- 9:22container. We're going to start with
- 9:24disabling the gas cloud, the pressure
- 9:27control puzzle. One storage depot sits
- 9:30inside of a damaging cloud. Nearby is a
- 9:32structure called the remote pressure
- 9:34control unit. We're going to hack the
- 9:37remote pressure control unit. When we
- 9:39successfully hack it, the gas cloud
- 9:42temporarily shuts down, giving you a
- 9:44short two to three minute window, so we
- 9:46can approach and loot the depot safely.
- 9:48If you ignore this and you enter the
- 9:50cloud, your ship will start steadily
- 9:52taking damage. Next, we have the plasma
- 9:55chambers. The plasma chambers are highly
- 9:57unstable. If you move by them too close
- 10:00and too quickly, they will explode and
- 10:02cause some damage. So, we're going to
- 10:04move slowly, keeping these plasma
- 10:06chambers around 7 km from us. Any
- 10:09closer, we risk explosions. This puzzle
- 10:12is mostly about being slow and
- 10:14methodical. Once we've hacked the
- 10:16containers, we can move on to the final
- 10:18puzzle of the limited sleeper cache, the
- 10:21force field. One storage depot is
- 10:23protected by a force field generator
- 10:26that will activate if you get too close.
- 10:28Nearby, between some plasma chambers, we
- 10:30have the remote defense grid unit. What
- 10:32we're going to do is we're going to hack
- 10:34the remote defense grid unit. And on a
- 10:36success, the force field protecting the
- 10:37depot won't activate when we approach
- 10:40it, so we can hack it. Failing this hack
- 10:42may trigger an explosion near the
- 10:43defense unit that deals a decent amount
- 10:46of damage. Though, interestingly enough,
- 10:48I got very lucky. See, there's a chance
- 10:52that nothing happens if you fail the
- 10:53hack on the remote defense grid unit and
- 10:55you can try again. I got very lucky with
- 10:58the RNG and was able to disable the
- 11:00force field and collect the last
- 11:01container. And there we have it. You
- 11:04just finished your first limited sleeper
- 11:06cache and warped away with about 50
- 11:08million ISK in value before considering
- 11:10the blueprints. I recommend making sure
- 11:12you have all of your loot dropped off
- 11:13somewhere before attempting this site,
- 11:16as it can be very dangerous and you will
- 11:19likely die in your first few attempts. I
- 11:21still die in sleeper caches on occasion
- 11:24and that's okay. Now, I ignored a lot of
- 11:27exploration sites specifically trying to
- 11:29find these examples for you. So, my
- 11:32exploration run could have been way more
- 11:34profitable if I were scanning and
- 11:36hacking all of the data in relic sites
- 11:38as I went along. So, keep that in mind
- 11:40when considering how much these sites
- 11:42are worth. Remember, your ships in EVE
- 11:44are like ammo. They will explode, and
- 11:47hopefully you can make some ISK between
- 11:48the explosions and come away making
- 11:50billions doing exploration. As you get
- 11:52more advanced and comfortable and
- 11:54subscribe to EVE online, you can get
- 11:55into covert ops ships, which will be the
- 11:58subject of our next exploration guide
- 12:00video, where we'll be going over the
- 12:03standard and superior sleeper caches.
- 12:06So, subscribe so you don't miss it. If
- 12:07you enjoyed this video, definitely give
- 12:09it a like so I know to create more
- 12:11videos like this one in the future, and
- 12:13also consider subscribing to the channel
- 12:15so you don't miss my next video. We're
- 12:17getting very close to 4,000 subscribers,
- 12:20and I appreciate each and every single
- 12:21one of you. If you really, really like
- 12:23this video, consider using my creator
- 12:24codes in the description down below. If
- 12:27you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you
- 12:28check out my EVE Iron Man series, where
- 12:31I was locked from using my main
- 12:33character until I completed the Air
- 12:36Career Program without interacting with
- 12:39the player market or trading other
- 12:41players. I want to take a moment to
- 12:42thank my YouTube and Patreon members.
- 12:45Your support means the world to me. I
- 12:47appreciate each and every one of you,
- 12:49and I couldn't do this without you.
- 12:50Bye-bye now.
