  8. 0:21know about the guest that are coming up a later
  9. 0:24and pr well
  10. 0:25we'll see how they go i'm interested to see what happens
  11. 0:28this oil spill the v situation has gotten completely out of control i don't
  12. 0:33even know where to start with this thing first of all
  13. 0:36we were getting this is of course the b_p_ deepwater horizon spell that we've
  14. 0:40been talking about
  15. 0:41no video
  16. 0:42for twenty three days we finally get thirty-seconds of video
  17. 0:47and that video why we're getting it well i think we know what
  18. 0:50video made it incredibly obvious that we were being lied to by d_p_ about the
  19. 0:54amount of or ill
  20. 0:56that was being spilled first we were told by b_p_ that there were five
  21. 0:59thousand barrels a day being spilled
  22. 1:02and at the same time we're told where siphoning off
  23. 1:05five thousand barrels now i'm doing some math
  24. 1:08if five thousand bills are coming out
  25. 1:10and yourself inning five thousand barrels that means there shouldn't be
  26. 1:13any going into the gulf of mexico right well that's obviously not the case the
  27. 1:17video
  28. 1:17which again took more than three weeks to get
  29. 1:20showed that there was a ton of oil
  30. 1:22blasting out without being cited so if there if it obviously that five k number
  31. 1:26was a y
  32. 1:28then it becomes clear
  33. 1:29it's more like not
  34. 1:31five k
  35. 1:32not fifteen thousand barrels
  36. 1:34but more like sixty or seventy thousand barrels and that means what that means
  37. 1:37the exxon valdez
  38. 1:39every four days and vp start saying well
  39. 1:42it looks like it's a lot more because when you look at the video
  40. 1:46it's it
  41. 1:46that looks like there's a ton of what those well coming up but it's very dash
  42. 1:49s so it actually looks like there's a lot more oil than then there really is
  43. 1:54well
  44. 1:55then they go on innocent cooper three sixty they send
  45. 1:57i forget the name of the guys like the name that the managing director abhi
  46. 2:02peanut the c_e_o_
  47. 2:03the interview goes horribly
  48. 2:05anderson cooper asks him how much oil is coming out
  49. 2:08he doesn't want to say he doesn't know and eventually he pulls out the jaan but
  50. 2:12it doesn't matter
  51. 2:13how much oil is coming out it doesn't change anything
  52. 2:15because of the strategy they are using to stop the spill it's just not that
  53. 2:19important
  54. 2:20how much oil as coming out any logical person can realize
  55. 2:24that silly out of course it matters how much oil is coming up does it not
  56. 2:28our students are suing the more comes out the more you have to claim that's
  57. 2:32right and the more they get into the water if you don't clean it just it just
  58. 2:35logic
  59. 2:38that's what we hear from this managing director now that interview what's so
  60. 2:41poorly
  61. 2:42that after that we barely see any of b_p_ anywhere on the news they don't go
  62. 2:46back on anderson cooper
  63. 2:48i personally spoke with a couple of press people at the peak you're not
  64. 2:52going to believe the run-around that we got
  65. 2:54first i call the number that is clearly depressed number any questions on
  66. 2:58deepwater horizon you call this number i called that number
  67. 3:02i spoke to someone
  68. 3:04explain what we're doing they say
  69. 3:05is this please this a radio
  70. 3:08for t_v_ request versus print and i say no this is this is a it's both radio and
  71. 3:12t_v_ were on both
  72. 3:14okay here's the person need to call
  73. 3:16i call that person
  74. 3:18and sheep she calls me back
  75. 3:20he she whatever i guess i gave a waiter she fine
  76. 3:23called me back
  77. 3:25and asks again wait a second is this for praying and i say no
  78. 3:28i was told you or the person handles radio and t_v_ and she says well we
  79. 3:32don't actually do any radio
  80. 3:35we don't we're not doing radio interviews
  81. 3:37i say okay well were also on t_v_ we actually run more t_v_ stations and
  82. 3:41radio stations he has no i don't think we can do it by say okay
  83. 3:45will just put this on the t_v_ version
  84. 3:47obviously we wouldn't do that
  85. 3:49there's no way she would know that
  86. 3:51we'll just put this on the t_v_ version
  87. 3:52yeah okay let me call you back on that the right person for t_v_
  88. 3:55we get back to the first as you can see where this is going no interviews being
  89. 3:59granted we that we saw the anderson cooper one just really was not good
  90. 4:03uh... a friend of mine
  91. 4:05works on an already very very close to deepwater horizon
  92. 4:09i spoke with him and down
  93. 4:12yeah you know actually
  94. 4:14i think we should go into that
  95. 4:15he's ke told me a bunch of stuff about what goes on he didn't have any names he
  96. 4:18didn't have any specifics about that particular oil rig
  97. 4:21but he told me a lot about the operation and and safety and what's been going on
  98. 4:26essentially he was not surprised about allot of what's been going on on the
  99. 4:30members podcast i'll go into more detail i won't say what his name is i won't say
  100. 4:34what ricky's on but
  101. 4:36it's a it's just an incredible it's an incredible story so tune in member of
  102. 4:40mid-week politics dot com slash membership right after the show will go
  103. 4:43right into the post show
  104. 4:44i can understand obviously why b_p_ didn't want the video released it so
  105. 4:48heinous it's so telling
  106. 4:51they could go no other direction
  107. 4:53then public outrage reach which we've seen
  108. 4:56now what about
  109. 4:57journalist
  110. 4:58having them through the area and see what's going on the when c_b_s_ tried to
  111. 5:01film a beach with heavy oil on the shore
  112. 5:03in louisiana a boat avp vp contract it shows up
  113. 5:07and coast guard officer say turnaround or be arrested and that this is a quote
  114. 5:12this is vps rules it's not hours
  115. 5:15a lot of second d_p_ is making the rules for where you can film out in public
  116. 5:20d_p_ british petroleum
  117. 5:22a private companies making the rules
  118. 5:24for what american journalists can do in the gulf of mexico
  119. 5:28it is it
  120. 5:29cars are possible
  121. 5:31according to the coast guard it was bps roles why they couldn't down there you
  122. 5:33know
  123. 5:34this is an incredible example of how corporate deregulation has failed isn't
  124. 5:39this just a thought clear example of it i mean sometimes we can see the benefits
  125. 5:43of deregulation
  126. 5:44are clear even if there's cons there's there's pros
  127. 5:48deregulate electricity people canal shop around
  128. 5:51they can save some money and how it pretty okay
  129. 5:55final cv upside
  130. 5:56to deregulating
  131. 5:58tutor to just never took to the not deregulating per se but
  132. 6:02to reducing the restrictions and regulations on oil companies i just
  133. 6:05don't see it other then
  134. 6:07it allows them to make more money
  135. 6:09that's the only thing i see
  136. 6:11and tony hayward the c_e_o_ of p p said the following when we will be was asked
  137. 6:15about what will the environmental impact of this disaster b
  138. 6:19listen to what he said

  145. 6:45a dozen dolphin
  146. 6:46just dead covered in oil
  147. 6:48it's amazing the oils getting into the breeding grounds of many of the species
  148. 6:52during the breeding period that means it's not just going to kill them off now
  149. 6:56it's going to prabhu prevent the breeding
  150. 6:58of a lot of these species
  151. 7:01it's it's an it's a disaster
  152. 7:02the scale of it
