  1. 0:05I'm going to just to go through a level
  2. 0:093 version of hand reflexology so I'm
  3. 0:13going to explain to you what hand
  4. 0:15reflexology is and we're going to
  5. 0:17actually show you some of the movements
  6. 0:19that we use the massage movements that
  7. 0:21you can use on your hands that will help
  8. 0:24alleviate some common issues that we all
  9. 0:27deal with from day to day such as vacuum
  10. 0:30things headaches and stress so first of
  11. 0:36all just a bit of an introduction to
  12. 0:38reflexology because anyone have any
  13. 0:41clicks on the G before yes because
  14. 0:50basically reflexology is moving time on
  15. 0:53the feet because most of the reflexes in
  16. 0:55our body are found in our feet so when
  17. 0:58it is is that there is belief that all
  18. 1:01the reflexes in your body can be found
  19. 1:05on your feet and by stimulating these
  20. 1:07points you can bring about a sense of
  21. 1:09relief balance and healing within the
  22. 1:13body to help whatever issue that you're
  23. 1:15going through so the first thing that is
  24. 1:19very important in reflexology if you're
  25. 1:21working on yourself or with a client is
  26. 1:23the initial health and safety is hygiene
  27. 1:27you don't want to cross contaminate
  28. 1:30anything you're going to be touching
  29. 1:32people or yourself so you need to make
  30. 1:35sure that you're clean and that your
  31. 1:37hands especially
  32. 1:38team reflexologist you must have short
  33. 1:42nails especially your thumbnails because
  34. 1:43that's the actual English you use when
  35. 1:45you do reflexology it's going to be the
  36. 1:47thumbs short nails the dress-code
  37. 1:50actually needs to be quite professional
  38. 1:52you want to come across that you clean
  39. 1:56professional hair tied back this is the
  40. 2:00the note that you can be giving your
  41. 2:03clients because you want them to know
  42. 2:05that they're in a safe capable homes so
  43. 2:07I'm going to pass around the bacterial
  44. 2:09hand sanitizer before any treatment and
  45. 2:12after every treatment you must make sure
  46. 2:15you use that really useful when you
  47. 2:31doing a session again either on
  48. 2:33yourselves or science is baby wipes in
  49. 2:37case you do encounter feet that you
  50. 2:39don't really want to touch or for some
  51. 2:41reason that company never clean they
  52. 2:43actually see although we're doing hands
  53. 2:46today that just incorporates what you do
  54. 2:49is you actually works on anyone's face
  55. 2:51and tissues because sometimes when you
  56. 2:53stimulate the reflexes on the feet that
  57. 2:55they can get quite expensive it's just a
  58. 2:58much body's reflex function that happens
  59. 3:14[Applause]
  60. 3:20to the history of reflexology and then
  61. 3:25the next pages on what reflexology
  62. 3:27actually is as well as a diagram on the
  63. 3:31back of our hand that we will be working
  64. 3:33through later to actually go through
  65. 3:36some reason X points so I'm going to be
  66. 3:40back write about reflexology if a like I
  67. 3:44said before it's a form of massage that
  68. 3:46you use on your hands or your feet and
  69. 3:49massage actually stimulates the reflex
  70. 3:52points which will correlate to past the
  71. 3:54body reflexology is fans began to talk
  72. 3:57about 4-thousand these days which is
  73. 4:01where it's being found actually in
  74. 4:04hieroglyphics in Egypt the Egyptians
  75. 4:07used as a natural form of spinning the
  76. 4:121930s that was actually boredom anymore
  77. 4:15I got to call dr. Riley even engineered
  78. 4:20it for more modern day techniques that
  79. 4:23we put into practice my new thing today
  80. 4:28so that's just a little bit of
  81. 4:30background there's obviously a whole lot
  82. 4:32more to it but I don't want for you too
  83. 4:35much with them or the academic side of
  84. 4:38it so when I say reflexology reflexology
  85. 4:47can be used for a variety of ailments at
  86. 4:51the moment it's very popular for useful
  87. 4:53issues like sciatica migraines an x-man
  88. 4:58ass smack IBS is quite a big
  89. 5:03thing that reflexologist have a lot of
  90. 5:05success with as well because it's a
  91. 5:08natural treatment it can actually be
  92. 5:10used in pregnancy as well although do
  93. 5:12not use it within three months first
  94. 5:14three months of pregnancy we just
  95. 5:16strongly about fitness and let's do that
  96. 5:19the other great thing about reflexology
  97. 5:22is you can use it from any age range so
  98. 5:24it can be from newborn we can treat
  99. 5:27newborn for colic constipation anything
  100. 5:30like that right up to you quite suddenly
  101. 5:33interest can be treated before
  102. 5:35reflexology because it's a natural
  103. 5:37process where you stimulate from the
  104. 5:40body to heal itself the age range is
  105. 5:43fantastic very clean usual things and
  106. 5:45what you can actually use it to achieve
  107. 5:47as the results have been very good so
  108. 5:52other any questions so far as just the
  109. 5:55background reflexology in reflexology
  110. 6:21always active work the right side of the
  111. 6:23body first so you would will be working
  112. 6:25the right hand the right foot and then
  113. 6:27you can move on to the left hand you
  114. 6:31start with the right because the body
  115. 6:32actually functions in anti-clockwise
  116. 6:37direction and everything expels the next
  117. 6:41funny in reflexology stones so you
  118. 6:44wanting to work everything to actually
  119. 6:46work through and when you get down to
  120. 6:48about area again
  121. 6:49recruit and art rather than if you work
  122. 6:52that way you're working it up and in
  123. 6:54that's the general consensus on and the
  124. 7:01other things that you need to remember
  125. 7:02when treating yourself or a client there
  126. 7:06are certain things that we call
  127. 7:07contraindications these are things that
  128. 7:10will stop you from actually treating
  129. 7:13someone the reflexologist is is quite a
  130. 7:17it is an intense treatment and it will
  131. 7:20cause changes in the body so you need to
  132. 7:22make sure that the total giving
  133. 7:24treatment is now they're coming to you
  134. 7:28for health issues but and that there are
  135. 7:30issues that you're not going to make
  136. 7:33worse things like heart conditions if
  137. 7:35they've had any major operations if an
  138. 7:38hemorrhage quite easily things like that
  139. 7:40you don't want to be working at home
  140. 7:41that person and that's them you'll find
  141. 7:44that out when you actually meet your
  142. 7:46client and they'll be telling you this
  143. 7:48information should be consulting with
  144. 7:49them and then you'll be able to
  145. 7:51establish whether you can go forward
  146. 7:53nothing is verrucas infections are the
  147. 7:56feet we don't treat either because you
  148. 7:58don't actually want to contaminate
  149. 8:00yourself and somebody else who might be
  150. 8:03after that patient all right so if you
  151. 8:07all turn to the back page and we'll show
  152. 8:08you my home
  153. 8:32yes but any pain associated with that
  154. 9:35helps reflexology there's things like
  155. 9:37scar tissue and that will accumulate and
  156. 9:39cause pain inflammatory if you start
  157. 9:42having issues now you don't have any
  158. 10:06there are pretty common elements I think
  159. 10:08most of the plans that actually see cut
  160. 10:11back or sciatic problems hip problems
  161. 10:14and again a lot of shoulder tension
  162. 10:18because a lot of us stress that we carry
  163. 10:20these that were really stressed or
  164. 10:21carried in our shoulders
  165. 10:44so these great little massage routines
  166. 10:50that you can use on yourself
  167. 10:51again if you're just using them in any
  168. 10:55setting that they are going to bring
  169. 10:56around they've got some relief so if I
  170. 10:59quickly show you and then we can go
  171. 11:00through this together on how we actually
  172. 11:02been to to massage our own hands
  173. 11:04today we're going to start with our
  174. 11:07right hand as we say as you wish start
  175. 11:09with the right and when you massage or
  176. 11:12do you mean kind of reflexology the main
  177. 11:14thing which can be using on your thumb
  178. 11:16and your forefinger purely because you
  179. 11:19have fingers you can actually control
  180. 11:20pressure with men your thumb you can get
  181. 11:23quite deep and in some
  182. 11:25points that you need to work with
  183. 11:28yourselves because you didn't you men
  184. 11:30you need to be careful if you're working
  185. 11:32on someone else that you do have very
  186. 11:33strong hands
  187. 11:35and people who are suffering with any
  188. 11:37kind of conditions can't find the area
  189. 11:39that they're dealing with and suffering
  190. 11:41with quite sensitive and painful to
  191. 11:44actually be worked on so don't you know
  192. 11:46put on too much pressure
  193. 11:48so movie you just something like that
  194. 11:52goes in that some way and that's how you
  195. 11:55work there you go too many years of
  196. 12:01reflexology but yeah he's just going to
  197. 12:03get it in that position if you take your
  198. 12:06right hand again using the rest of your
  199. 12:08fingers you can actually just support
  200. 12:10your hand and you get a massage it's
  201. 12:13very very small massage movements that
  202. 12:16you use so you're going to gently very
  203. 12:19small small small movements yeah and
  204. 12:23then you're moving across gentlemen
  205. 12:27which is the tree pusher you're just
  206. 12:29literally pushing it's a post movement
  207. 12:31it's very gentle although you might
  208. 12:34actually feel some sensitivity in an
  209. 12:38area as you go through it needs to be
  210. 12:39deep enough that you can actually feel
  211. 12:41it not you're not just you know tapping
  212. 12:43you need to be able to get in today
  213. 12:46areas and as you work your way through
  214. 12:48with your thumb you might come across
  215. 12:51for the crunchiness a bit of sensitivity
  216. 12:54and again this will just reflect that
  217. 12:57there is an issue in that area and you
  218. 13:00by working it you are flocking in and
  219. 13:02you're helping that issue so that's
  220. 13:04essentially how you do reflexology with
  221. 13:07your finger okay when you're actually
  222. 13:21working with reflexology the feet are
  223. 13:23going to be more sensitive and you will
  224. 13:26find a lot more in the fetus is more
  225. 13:27reflex points in the feet the hands
  226. 13:30however are a good place to start trying
  227. 13:33to want me comfortable with you using
  228. 13:35the feet or people who might actually
  229. 13:38have conditions on the feet that you
  230. 13:40don't want to treat you like the
  231. 13:41verrucas that I was talking about then
  232. 13:43you can go into their hands so I'm going
  233. 13:45to come around we're going to actually
  234. 13:47start on the spinal area we're going to
  235. 13:49start at the top like say with your
  236. 13:51thumb just massage then gently all the
  237. 13:54way down and I'll come around and see
  238. 13:56how you go
  239. 14:27I can see just by the wideness of you
  240. 14:30that's quite a bit pressure
  241. 14:32can you feel any kind of strengthen when
  242. 15:15you do it so that is the basis of your
  243. 15:19massage movements it is very simple and
  244. 15:22the only competitive really comes in
  245. 15:24knowing when you're massaging and the
  246. 15:26reasons why the other quick area before
  247. 15:30I end off is headaches your thumbs so
  248. 15:34again do the same movements just massage
  249. 15:36your thumbs all the way just to the
  250. 15:39middle crease so see what that's it
  251. 15:42that's it yeah that's one or two that's
  252. 15:45one on the tip and only first two
  253. 15:47fingers as well but the main areas are
  254. 15:49going to be your thumbs and then your
  255. 15:57fingers and again if you have any sinus
  256. 16:01issues you can
  257. 16:02see oversensitivity as she goes on know
  258. 16:10it's showing you where where you can
  259. 16:14have issues in this area and then the
  260. 16:17last quick one before we end off is your
  261. 16:19shoulder area where you probably will
  262. 16:21actually feel some crunchiness or some
  263. 16:23sensitivity in the corner however I do
  264. 17:16recommend if you'd like to have any
  265. 17:18further reading
  266. 17:57at the moment a studies on every single
  267. 18:00issue because I specialize in maternity
  268. 18:03issues they all about issues that I've
  269. 18:08had through and after the first two
  270. 18:09treatments with a lot of information
  271. 18:22online a lot of research Yugi and a lot
  272. 18:25of information that will actually guide
  273. 18:26you and most reflexologist are really
  274. 18:30good even off to the first I'd say one
  275. 18:41or two sessions either Boston actually
  276. 18:49training we do say once a week for every
  277. 18:51four weeks I however believe personally
  278. 18:54that everybody is different a lot of my
  279. 18:56clients are spy glass of wine session
  280. 19:00you gauge how you feel next day because
  281. 19:03you will literally feel the difference
  282. 19:05one day later and if you and I love them
  283. 19:08back
  284. 19:09while there is such an improvement I
  285. 19:10want to come back and maintain that and
  286. 19:12that's a good thing and then most kind
  287. 19:15of thing go back to about six weekly
  288. 19:17intervals and it would already
