- 0:04I'm pleased justice has been achieved
- 0:05for the six children who died in this
- 0:07fire but I have to say that I derive no
- 0:10pleasure from the conviction of Mick and
- 0:12marade Philpot and poor
- 0:14Mosley this has been a shocking case for
- 0:17everyone
- 0:18involved six young children lost their
- 0:20lives needlessly in a fire and all our
- 0:23efforts have been focused on getting
- 0:25Justice for those
- 0:26children my thoughts at this time are
- 0:28very much for the friends and relations
- 0:30of the children who have been affected
- 0:32by the events on Victory Road in Derby
- 0:35on May the 11th last
- 0:37year I want to thank all the people from
- 0:39the local community who had the courage
- 0:42to come forward and give evidence
- 0:44against the defendants in this
- 0:46trial without them we would never have
- 0:49been able to discover the
- 0:51truth I also want to pay tribute to The
- 0:54Bravery shown by the firefighters the
- 0:57police officers and more importantly The
- 0:59Neighbors
- 1:00who tried to rescue the children on the
- 1:04night officers and police staff from the
- 1:06darbishire constab the East Midland's
- 1:09major crime unit have worked tirelessly
- 1:12with the CPS on this investigation
- 1:14during the last 10
- 1:15months this has to be one of if not the
- 1:19most upsetting case any of us has ever
- 1:23investigated it was a long and difficult
- 1:25inquiry which involved more than a 100
- 1:28officers and police staff at its peak
- 1:31everyone was determined to find out the
- 1:33truth behind this fire and who was
- 1:37responsible throughout the investigation
- 1:40the police have worked closely with the
- 1:41fire service and other partner agencies
- 1:44such as the local Authority and Health
- 1:46Service to provide support for other
- 1:49members of the family I'm extremely
- 1:52grateful for their support and advice
- 1:54during this difficult investigation
- 1:57thank you in the early hours of the 11th
- 1:59of May 2012 a fire was set at 18 Victory
- 2:03Road in Derby as a result of that fire
- 2:06Dwayne Jade John Jack Jesse and Jaden
- 2:10Philpot all died today the jury have
- 2:14concluded that Michael and Mar Philpot
- 2:16along with their friends Paul MOS were
- 2:18responsible for that
- 2:20fire the three of them made a plan to
- 2:22start it in order to turn family
- 2:24proceedings in Mr philpot's favor it was
- 2:27a plan that went tragically wrong this
- 2:30is a heroin case and it has been very
- 2:32challenging to prosecute I would
- 2:34therefore like to thank everyone who's
- 2:36come forward to give evidence in such
- 2:38difficult
- 2:39circumstances finally I offer the
- 2:41condolences of the whole prosecution
- 2:43team to the extended family and friends
- 2:45of the six children thank you my family
- 2:48and I have attended Court each and every
- 2:50day and listened objectively to all the
- 2:52evidence during this trial to understand
- 2:55what happened to our six beautiful
- 2:57children on the 11th of May 2012
- 3:00our presence in court was to find out
- 3:02the truth following today's verdict we
- 3:05the family of Michael Philpot believe
- 3:07justice has been served this past year
- 3:10has been a very difficult time for our
- 3:11family as we have had to come to terms
- 3:13with what Michael mered and for Mosley
- 3:15have done we can now attempt to move on
- 3:18and our six angels can rest in peace I
- 3:22would however like to take this
- 3:23opportunity to thank the following
- 3:24people ask at drve fire and rescue
- 3:27service who attended the scene in such
- 3:29harrowing
- 3:30circumstances Birmingham Burns unit for
- 3:32their care and support of Dwayne's
- 3:34treatment the Royal Derby A&E Department
- 3:37doctors nurses and staff the DJs trust
- 3:41and catch me when I fall for their
- 3:42fundraising and support to everyone who
- 3:45donated money for the children's funeral
- 3:48and everyone who has supported us
- 3:49through what has been a very traumatic
- 3:51year and finally to detective
- 3:53superintendent Kate mennel the East
- 3:55Midlands major crime team and the darish
- 3:58staby for their Untold hours of working
- 4:00on this case to ensure Justice was
- 4:03done the following statement is from the
- 4:05Duffy family who are Mer's family on the
- 4:0911th of May
- 4:102012 Dwayne Jade John Jack Jesse and
- 4:14Jaden were taken away in the
- 4:26cruestv and we are happy with the
- 4:29verdict
- 4:31we would like to thank everybody
- 4:32involved in this case particularly the
- 4:34police and CPS medical staff from Derby
- 4:37and Birmingham hospitals darbishire fire
- 4:39service and the jury in this
- 4:41trial we'd like to express our gratitude
- 4:44also to the young men who tried to save
- 4:46the children that night you truly are
- 4:49heroes and to the people of Derby for
- 4:51giving the children the send off they
- 4:53deserved thank
- 4:56you
