- 0:15ABBY: You know what the rule is.
- 0:16You're not in class, no solo.
- 0:17She was at the doctor.
- 0:20ABBY: Done!
- 0:21[bleep] you.
- 0:22PAIGE: [crying] I want to go home.
- 0:24We are.
- 0:25ABBY (VOICEOVER): Coming up on "Dance Moms"--
- 0:27ABBY: Foul language or unsportsmanlike behavior
- 0:30by a dancer or parent will risk expulsion from the Abby Lee
- 0:34Dance Company.
- 0:35MELISSA: Mackenzie can't do this solo.
- 0:36She's not ready.
- 0:37ABBY: If I was competing in two days,
- 0:38I'd have a headset on and I'd be doing that dance in my head
- 0:41a million times.
- 0:42She'll have one wear a costume too big
- 0:43and one wear a costume too small,
- 0:45just so my daughter doesn't stick out.
- 0:47MELISSA: These mothers are calling my daughter
- 0:49a cheater for last weekend.
- 0:51They said that she practiced her dance with that music.
- 0:55Did you cheat for my daughter?
- 0:58[theme music]
- 1:01(SINGING) Get up.
- 1:02Get on the floor.
- 1:04My world is with my girls, living on the dance floor.
- 1:11[music playing]
- 1:15ABBY: Come on, girls! Let's go!
- 1:17Let's go! Let's go!
- 1:18Come on, girls!
- 1:18Hustle up!
- 1:20Last week, the Abby Lee Dance Company
- 1:21was a real hit in Chicago at Energy Dance.
- 1:24Finally, Overall High Score, Junior Groups.
- 1:27[cheering and applause]
- 1:32I'm really proud of my girls.
- 1:34But now it's a new week it's time for my favorite thing.
- 1:37Let's move on to the pyramid.
- 1:38KELLY: I'm sure that my kids will be on the bottom
- 1:40of the pyramid this week.
- 1:41But I'm back because my girls want
- 1:44to dance with their friends, and that's
- 1:45what they're going to do.
- 1:48ABBY: First, we have Brooke.
- 1:49Probation-- no solo this week.
- 1:52Paige, same thing.
- 1:55BROOKE: I don't think it's fair that Abby put my sister and I
- 1:58on probation because we had nothing to do with the argument
- 2:01my mom and her had.
- 2:02Brooke, Paige, you didn't do your routines.
- 2:05Nobody got to see them.
- 2:06ANNOUNCER: Please welcome Paige.
- 2:07Thank you.
- 2:08Judges, please skip ahead to entry number 42A.
- 2:10This is Brooke performing "Paint the Pictures."
- 2:15KELLY: I think that Abby thinks that she's hurting me
- 2:18by putting my kids on probation.
- 2:20They didn't not do their solos because they weren't prepared.
- 2:23Where are the stoppers?
- 2:25I'll have them for the competition.
- 2:29Done! HOLLY: Go get Paige.
- 2:30I'm going to [bleep] kill her. HOLLY: Aw.
- 2:32ABBY: You're-- you're finished.
- 2:33Neither of my kids are doing your group dance.
- 2:35You're not doing a solo.
- 2:36Let's go, Brooke.
- 2:38They didn't do their solos because of unfair treatment.
- 2:41Well, regardless, it doesn't matter.
- 2:43Kelly was out of control.
- 2:45She used vulgarity and profanity in the dance studio, therefore,
- 2:50those two kids were on probation.
- 2:53Chloe.
- 2:54CHRISTI: For two weeks, my daughter
- 2:55has been at the top of the pyramid.
- 2:56And she misses one rehearsal and she goes straight
- 2:58to the bottom row.
- 3:00Sure, Abby, that's fair.
- 3:01Last Monday you went to the doctor,
- 3:03then you went to the movies.
- 3:05That's ridiculous.
- 3:06You need to be in class, not at the movie theater.
- 3:08I don't know if Chloe really went to the doctors
- 3:11or if she was playing hooky and went to the movies.
- 3:13All I do know is you're on the bottom row, kid.
- 3:17Mackenzie did a great job, but it's still wasn't your best.
- 3:23You need to be in more ballet classes.
- 3:28Nia, you're here because you worked very well
- 3:33with Mackenzie.
- 3:34I gave you a role.
- 3:35You were the ringmaster in a circus.
- 3:36Some may say it's a little immature for you,
- 3:39but I love the fact that you embraced it,
- 3:41that you had fun with it, and you were
- 3:43entertaining to the audience.
- 3:45HOLLY: Nia's place on the pyramid, it means a lot to her.
- 3:48And seeing herself on the second row, I'm happy for her.
- 3:51I'm happy to see that joy in her eyes.
- 3:53ABBY: And, at the top of the pyramid, we have Maddie.
- 3:56CHRISTI: I'm really not surprised that Maddie's
- 3:58at the top of the pyramid.
- 3:59Abby has been looking for a reason
- 4:01to put her back up there.
- 4:02ABBY: You stepped out on stage, you started your routine,
- 4:05and your music skipped.
- 4:06[music skipping]
- 4:09[cheering and applause]
- 4:11You didn't let it get the best of you.
- 4:13You stayed out there, you kept going,
- 4:15and you finished without missing a beat.
- 4:17You really had the audience behind you.
- 4:19So I don't know what happened with the CD.
- 4:20It just scratched.
- 4:23But we need to move on.
- 4:25Abby has been in the dance world long enough
- 4:27to know that when that happens, you win.
- 4:30So the second Maddie's music stopped,
- 4:33I knew what was going on.
- 4:34ABBY: Now, this week we will be attending Energy Dance
- 4:37Competition again.
- 4:39It's in Waterford Township, Michigan.
- 4:41Last week when I called to enter the routines, Gina, the owner--
- 4:46she told me there are two studios specifically coming
- 4:50to beat the Abby Lee Dance Company.
- 4:53The director of the competition was kind enough
- 4:55to tell me that two studios called to register,
- 4:58determined to take down the ALDC.
- 5:01I'm going to have to pull out all the stops.
- 5:03Let's talk about the group number.
- 5:05It's called "Silver Spoon," silver meaning the finest
- 5:10quality flatware, meaning the luxuries of life,
- 5:15the country club, the finest schools.
- 5:19So this is a pretty dance.
- 5:20We also have a prop.
- 5:23We have a big giant spoon, and you pass the spoon around
- 5:27throughout the routine.
- 5:28I want to talk about the rest of the numbers for this week.
- 5:30Maddie, you and Chloe will be doing a duet.
- 5:33It's called "Inside of Me."
- 5:37And you need to work together.
- 5:39You need to be a team.
- 5:40I want to see that teamwork, once again.
- 5:42Understood?
- 5:43MADDIE: Chloe and I make a great team for our duet
- 5:45because we're always in sync and we're really good friends.
- 5:49So I think it helps out with that.
- 5:51Nia, you're going to have a solo this week.
- 5:53It is called "Bound."
- 5:57It means you're being held back while you're
- 6:01trying to chase your dream.
- 6:04Mackenzie, you're doing a solo.
- 6:07Your dance is called "Daisy Chain."
- 6:09You're like a flower, and you're thinking, "He loves me,
- 6:12he loves me not.
- 6:13He loves me, he loves me not."
- 6:15And it's not Justin Bieber, it's the judges.
- 6:17Understood?
- 6:19MACKENZIE: I wish Justin Bieber was one of the judges.
- 6:21He's cute.
- 6:22[laughs]
- 6:24ABBY: Maddie, you will be doing "Helen Keller."
- 6:27You will be deaf, you will be blind, and you will be mute.
- 6:31I am using an old routine that was undefeated,
- 6:34that was absolutely beautiful.
- 6:36And it's about the actual character of Helen Keller.
- 6:39I'm really putting a lot of pressure on Maddie.
- 6:41I need those judges to be right on top of her,
- 6:43so they get the story and it touches a nerve.
- 6:46So you need to be in character and you need a rag doll
- 6:50to bring to rehearsal.
- 6:51KELLY: I'm surprised that Maddie is at the top of the pyramid.
- 6:54Maddie wasn't even supposed to have a solo last week.
- 6:57And, as far as I'm concerned, that shouldn't even
- 6:59have been considered as part of the placement on the pyramid.
- 7:02Like, that's the unfair treatment.
- 7:04All right, moms, you can go.
- 7:05All right.
- 7:06Spread apart we're going to do a warm up.
- 7:08I'd like your legs right out in front of you.
- 7:09While the girls are stretching and getting
- 7:11ready for rehearsal, I need to have a little chat with Kelly.
- 7:14I need to remind her that I'm the boss.
- 7:17I wanted to talk to you about a few things that happened
- 7:19last week.
- 7:21Done!
- 7:22[gasps]
- 7:25[bleep] you, Abby.
- 7:26ABBY: You don't need it for the competition.
- 7:28I told you to do it today.
- 7:29[bleep] you.
- 7:31I can't have the loss of self-control or the language go
- 7:35on when there's other customers in the studio.
- 7:37Yes.
- 7:38You threw a chair and scared my 10-year-old.
- 7:39Well--
- 7:40It goes both ways.
- 7:42Yes, but this contract doesn't go both ways.
- 7:45I want to take her contract that she signed
- 7:48and make her read it.
- 7:50I don't think the woman reads.
- 7:52Foul language or unsportsmanlike behavior by a dancer or parent
- 7:57will risk expulsion from the Abby Lee Dance Company.
- 8:00I don't care how much time and energy
- 8:02I've invested in her children, if she opens that filthy mouth
- 8:05one more time, those kids are going to be shown the door.
- 8:08Yeah.
- 8:09How'd that go?
- 8:10Well, she put out the contract and was like--
- 8:11Oh, you mean at the top of the contract that says,
- 8:13"We will provide a nurturing and safe positive learning
- 8:16experience?"
- 8:17KELLY: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:18I will stay here just to torture her.
- 8:20HOLLY: [laughs]
- 8:21ABBY: All right, ladies, we have three days--
- 8:24three days to put an entire routine together
- 8:26that is completely different than anything you've ever done.
- 8:29The group number this week is called "Silver Spoons,"
- 8:31kind of a play on you were born with a silver spoon
- 8:35in your mouth.
- 8:36I want them to look like they were born and raised
- 8:38at the country club.
- 8:40I think we have a good shot at a winning number.
- 8:44Come on, girls!
- 8:45We are not going to lose to those two other teams.
- 8:48HOLLY: You know what's interesting?
- 8:50Last week, Chloe went to the physical therapist
- 8:53and the doctor.
- 8:54Mm-hmm.
- 8:55HOLLY: So how come there was an issue this week?
- 8:59CHRISTI: Somebody told her that she went to the movie.
- 9:01KELLY: Chloe didn't show up for class last week.
- 9:03She was at the movies.
- 9:04Who rats out a 10-year-old?
- 9:06I didn't tell her.
- 9:09MELISSA: Typically, I never tell Abby things that the people do
- 9:12behind her back.
- 9:13But I was just so sick of all the moms saying that I don't
- 9:16follow the rules, so I let her know that Christi
- 9:20had no intention of bringing her child to class on Monday.
- 9:23So who told her?
- 9:24I told her that.
- 9:26If Melissa really had a problem with Chloe going
- 9:29to the movies, I don't know, I would think that she would come
- 9:31to me and ask me about it instead of going to tattle
- 9:34to the dance teacher.
- 9:35So why is it your business to tell her
- 9:37that she went to the movie?
- 9:38She wasn't allowed to dance, so what do you care where she is?
- 9:41I just told Abby because I was just pissed off because--
- 9:44Do you need to make sure that you get on Abby's good side?
- 9:46I'm not on Abby's good side.
- 9:47Yeah, you are, Melissa.
- 9:49She claims that she and Abby are no longer friends.
- 9:51But, man, you're really working hard to get back
- 9:53on her good side, aren't you?
- 9:54Do we need to talk about all the other lies?
- 9:57We were told, by you on the phone to Kelly,
- 10:01that Maddie practiced with her music
- 10:02like that she knew to keep dancing.
- 10:04KELLY: The day after Maddie's music skipped,
- 10:06I talked to Melissa on the phone.
- 10:08And she admitted to me that if Maddie's music skipped,
- 10:11she was instructed to keep on dancing.
- 10:13So make my daughter look bad again.
- 10:15CHRISTI: No.
- 10:16We're telling you that you look bad.
- 10:17OK.
- 10:18Because you have said that it's OK to lie and cheat
- 10:22as long as you win and you get your way.
- 10:24And, you know what?
- 10:25That's not something that any of us want to teach our kids.
- 10:29My daughter did not practice to music like that.
- 10:32KELLY: Melissa, I really have a hard time believing you.
- 10:35HOLLY: Well, someone here is lying.
- 10:36And if Abby set that up, that would be pretty despicable.
- 10:38That's cheating. KELLY: But how can you do that?
- 10:40- It's cheating. - I don't know.
- 10:41I would have no idea. MELISSA: How can you--
- 10:42- You cheated. - But that would be pretty low.
- 10:43I didn't do anything of the sort.
- 10:45I would never cheat.
- 10:47The moms accused Abby of causing my daughter's music to skip.
- 10:51That's, like, sabotage.
- 10:52Go back.
- 10:53Let's try it one time.
- 10:55I need to speak to Abby about the situation,
- 10:57and I need to get to the bottom of it.
- 10:59You'd have to ask her.
- 11:00Oh, I will.
- 11:01I guarantee it.
- 11:02I'm not happy about this.
- 11:11[music playing]
- 11:16[duet music]
- 11:21Left shoulder.
- 11:23Maddie and I have a duet this week called "Inside of Me,"
- 11:25and I really like it.
- 11:27And we only have three days to learn it, clean it, and perfect
- 11:30it for the competition.
- 11:34OK, come on.
- 11:35Maddie and Chloe have several challenges
- 11:37in the routine "Inside of Me."
- 11:39There's partner work.
- 11:41They have to work together.
- 11:42They have to trust each other.
- 11:43They have to be technically correct.
- 11:45All of those things go into this duet.
- 11:48I want to see that partner work.
- 11:49I want to see that together stuff.
- 11:51I want to see the timing.
- 11:54It's really, really important.
- 11:55The kids need to leave.
- 11:56I really need to talk-- ABBY: I need to--
- 11:57I am so pissed.
- 11:58Abby, I don't care.
- 11:59I need to talk to you, please.
- 12:00Girls, go real quick, very quickly.
- 12:02Go.
- 12:03I walk into the studio, and Maddie and Chloe
- 12:06are practicing.
- 12:07Maddie is mad at me that I walk into the studio.
- 12:10And I really don't care.
- 12:11I need to get to the bottom of this.
- 12:12Melissa's in there talking to Abby.
- 12:14CHRISTI: Oh, great.
- 12:15Go and tattle on us.
- 12:17What do you think we're-- what do you think she's saying?
- 12:19Maybe she's not talking about it.
- 12:20Sure. KELLY: Oh, god.
- 12:21After we just finished saying don't talk--
- 12:23And she's going to say they're just jealous.
- 12:25Melissa, once again, storms off to go tattle on us to Abby.
- 12:28If she really felt strongly that she didn't
- 12:31do what Kelly was saying she did,
- 12:33then stay and defend yourself.
- 12:34Don't go run and tattle on us to Abby.
- 12:36These mothers are calling my daughter
- 12:38a cheater for last weekend.
- 12:39They said that she practiced her dance with that music.
- 12:43Did you cheat for my daughter?
- 12:44They're calling me--
- 12:45Absolutely not.
- 12:46You would never send a child intentionally onstage
- 12:50with a bad CD.
- 12:51That makes me look bad.
- 12:53I've been doing this for 32 years, women.
- 12:56Wake up! - That could ruin--
- 12:57I have some stickers all over my--
- 12:59MELISSA: --my daughter's career.
- 13:00I would never-- ABBY: Whoa!
- 13:01MELISSA: --let my daughter dance.
- 13:02Wait a second!
- 13:03Your daughter's career?
- 13:04How about my name? MELISSA: I know.
- 13:05- How about my reputation? - I know it's your reputation.
- 13:07But my daughter's nine.
- 13:08ABBY: Look at what's labeling her!
- 13:09You just fell into the same pot with them.
- 13:11MELISSA: I'm sorry, because they're calling my daughter
- 13:12a cheater.
- 13:13I don't want my daughter to be labeled as a cheater.
- 13:15ABBY: She's not.
- 13:16MELISSA: I don't want you to keep her special treatment or--
- 13:19I'm pissed.
- 13:19I'm done.
- 13:21ABBY: Melissa, she's once again jealous that your kid won.
- 13:24Don't you get it?
- 13:25MELISSA: Well, OK.
- 13:26Well, I'm-- I'm not happy.
- 13:28ABBY: Toughen up, Melissa.
- 13:29MELISSA: I was mad.
- 13:30I was mad at Abby, but I wanted to make sure
- 13:32that she wouldn't do this.
- 13:33And she said, "I would never do that, ever, ever, ever."
- 13:35And I believe her.
- 13:37What were you talking to Abby about?
- 13:38I asked her if she did something to the CD.
- 13:41She's pissed that I even thought that she would do that.
- 13:44[music playing]
- 13:47ABBY: Come on, girls!
- 13:49Let's go!
- 13:51All right, girls, listen!
- 13:53We have two days--
- 13:54two days to get this number finished and clean,
- 13:57and it's a mess.
- 13:58We have two days until the competition,
- 14:01and I'm really feeling the pressure.
- 14:03We have two teams gunning for us this week,
- 14:05and my group number is not looking good.
- 14:08I need to fix it and fix it fast.
- 14:10[music playing]
- 14:16I'm really nervous for the "Silver Spoon" dance because I
- 14:19don't want to drop the spoon.
- 14:21ABBY: OK.
- 14:22Just set it down.
- 14:23Does anyone have to turn with that spoon?
- 14:26Why can't we just use a little spoon?
- 14:27It is one big spoon.
- 14:33Whoa!
- 14:34The prop is fabulous.
- 14:36I mean, it looks great for pictures.
- 14:38But the girls could not dance with it.
- 14:40They can't even get off the floor.
- 14:42I'm trying to find something that's not so heavy for them
- 14:46to work with.
- 14:47It's very difficult to rehearse
- 14:48with that big, giant spoon.
- 14:51All of us are having really hard times because we can't really
- 14:54lift it.
- 14:54It's bigger than us.
- 14:56Can we try it with this trophy and see
- 14:58if it's easier for them?
- 14:59OK, Maddie, let's go.
- 15:01[music playing]
- 15:09All right.
- 15:10That's a wrap.
- 15:11Nia, solo, you're up.
- 15:12HOLLY: Now I'm watching Nia's solo
- 15:14and I'm already noticing it is so different than any solo she
- 15:18has ever done before in her life.
- 15:20It has a more mature tone to it.
- 15:24It could be a defining moment for Nia, as a dancer.
- 15:28Stretch that bottom foot.
- 15:33This is his first solo since the whole Miami debacle.
- 15:39[applause]
- 15:43She needs to prove to me that she is a competitor.
- 15:46She needs to warrant more difficult choreography.
- 15:51Face.
- 15:52You're dying.
- 15:54If I was judging, I would say losing momentum, losing energy.
- 15:57Come on, stamina.
- 15:59Stamina.
- 16:00Keep it up.
- 16:01Face.
- 16:06[applause]
- 16:09I think Nia looks really great doing this number.
- 16:11I think it's good for her.
- 16:13It shows strength.
- 16:14She has some good jumps at it.
- 16:15I think it's a really nice number for her.
- 16:17Maddie, when you get a drink, get your ragdoll
- 16:20and get it back in here.
- 16:21Oh, we have a doll!
- 16:23Someone did their homework.
- 16:25OK, well, this is cute.
- 16:28But this is, like, a boy doll.
- 16:30So this is perfect.
- 16:32During the Helen Keller number, Maddie dances with the doll.
- 16:35This is more than just a prop.
- 16:38It's a very important part of the piece.
- 16:40[music playing]
- 16:45For this routine to be a success,
- 16:47Maddie needs to know where the doll is at all times.
- 16:51She's supposed to be blind.
- 16:52If she breaks character, the judges are going to know it.
- 16:56No.
- 16:57I want to put the aerial in.
- 16:58I forgot you did it at the end.
- 17:00I want you to aerial over the doll.
- 17:05I'm not really nervous for my "Helen Keller" solo.
- 17:07I think this is a good dance for me
- 17:09because I'm good at playing parts.
- 17:12[laughs]
- 17:14[music playing]
- 17:21ABBY: Mackenzie slipped at Nexstar in Upland, California.
- 17:24She left the stage, and I don't want the same thing
- 17:26to happen again.
- 17:28Stay out there and do what you were taught.
- 17:29So that's our lesson with her for this week.
- 17:31Cross your fingers, or that kid's going to be mincemeat.
- 17:39Do you know what to do next?
- 17:42MELISSA: Mackenzie can't do this solo.
- 17:43She's not ready.
- 17:44She doesn't remember it.
- 17:45She can't do solos.
- 17:47It makes me so nervous for the competition
- 17:48because Mackenzie needs at least two weeks to learn a dance, not
- 17:52two days.
- 17:55[music playing]
- 17:57I'm going to lunch today with Holly,
- 17:59and I just want to talk to her about this music issue,
- 18:02and get it out in the open.
- 18:04I feel like I can talk to Holly without her screaming at me.
- 18:07My daughter or I did not do anything wrong, Holly.
- 18:09I-- I'm just trying to figure out What is going on.
- 18:12Because that exploded quickly.
- 18:14It escalated really, really fast.
- 18:17The fight we had upstairs about the scratched CD in Maddie's
- 18:21solo was driving me insane.
- 18:23It was like World War II erupted over this scratched CD.
- 18:27In this dance world, there's so much coming out
- 18:29with different directions. - Mm-hmm.
- 18:31And you feel like you don't know what's going on.
- 18:33I only have the dance moms to rely on.
- 18:35That's why it's really important for me
- 18:38to be able to trust you and trust the other moms, too.
- 18:40We have to be able to trust each other.
- 18:42Mm-hmm.
- 18:43Something's going on and we have to resolve it.
- 18:45We're calling each other liars and cheats,
- 18:48and that's not a team.
- 18:56ABBY: Good morning, everyone.
- 18:57All right.
- 18:58I have a new spoon.
- 18:59Let's try it with this.
- 19:00This is the last day we have to rehearse, ladies.
- 19:02So, come on.
- 19:03I need 100% in there.
- 19:04Let's do it.
- 19:05This is our last chance to rehearse.
- 19:07I've already had to replace our silver spoon prop,
- 19:09and I'm not thrilled about that.
- 19:11I just hope nothing else goes wrong.
- 19:12We need to utilize this time. Let's go.
- 19:14Let's go. Let's go.
- 19:15We have a lot to do today.
- 19:16We have three solos, a duet, and the group number
- 19:20to rehearse, plus costume fittings.
- 19:22There is no time to waste.
- 19:24Let's do it.
- 19:26[music playing]
- 19:29Smile!
- 19:31Smile!
- 19:32Smile when I yell at you!
- 19:33ABBY: Do you want those two other teams to beat you?
- 19:35What's wrong with you guys?
- 19:37Come on!
- 19:38Don't sickle your left foot on that développé parallel!
- 19:42We have two teams coming to beat us this weekend
- 19:44at this competition.
- 19:45This would be a number that we would
- 19:46do in Ohio against the Candy Apples,
- 19:49not against two teams that are coming to kill us.
- 19:51ABBY: Grand plie, Chloe, plie!
- 19:54Turn your feet out!
- 19:57I'm watching the dance.
- 19:58It's a disaster.
- 19:59None of the girls know it, and they're going on stage
- 20:01tomorrow. It's a mess.
- 20:03This week's dance does not compare to last week's dance
- 20:05at all. - Not at all.
- 20:06CHRISTI: I know. And they have a chef spoon.
- 20:07KELLY: Look. You can't even tell what it is.
- 20:09I think Abby's smaller spoon it's going to be easier
- 20:11for the girls to dance with.
- 20:13I don't know what it's going to look like on stage.
- 20:15It's sort of just looks like a wand.
- 20:16Let's grab a drink, and then we'll
- 20:18go into the other numbers.
- 20:19One of my favorite things is seeing the girls
- 20:21try their costumes on for the very first time.
- 20:23Costumes can really make or break a performance.
- 20:27CHRISTI: I like Nia's costume.
- 20:28I think it's cool.
- 20:29That looks like the first, like, mature costume she's had.
- 20:31It's not, like, a cutesy costume.
- 20:33When I first heard Nia's costume, I was so happy.
- 20:36It's not a cutesy kind of costume.
- 20:38It has a bunch of ropes.
- 20:40I really think that Nia's stepping up
- 20:42this week with her costume and performance.
- 20:46ABBY: Great.
- 20:47Get your butt down there.
- 20:48All right, Nia, it's good.
- 20:49I'm still not seeing a lot of face.
- 20:51Sometimes you're amazing.
- 20:52Other times you're sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
- 20:54All right, let's go, daisy head.
- 20:56I think Mackenzie's costume's adorable.
- 20:58Mm-hmm. It's cute.
- 20:59Just keep dancing.
- 21:01It doesn't matter what-- nobody knows the dance.
- 21:03Mackenzie is so cute in her "Daisy Chains" costumes.
- 21:05But if she doesn't remember her solo,
- 21:08cute can only take you so far.
- 21:09ABBY: And stand up and off.
- 21:14You did it.
- 21:16Is that all we have?
- 21:18The girls come in in their "Silver Spoon" costumes,
- 21:22and something's just not right.
- 21:23I have two pink, two blue, and one green.
- 21:26Go to your formation.
- 21:27Let's see.
- 21:31CHRISTI: There's five girls in the dance.
- 21:32There's two pink costumes, two blue costumes, and one green.
- 21:36So, obviously, the girl wearing the green
- 21:37is going to stand out, and that was Paige.
- 21:40And, apparently, that couldn't happen.
- 21:42Paige, put the pink on that your sister has on.
- 21:47HOLLY: The pink is too big.
- 21:48CHRISTI: Oh, the pink is too big.
- 21:49Way big. CHRISTI: It's too big.
- 21:50That's, like, a large.
- 21:51HOLLY: Yeah.
- 21:52The green one's the right size for her.
- 21:54But it's Paige.
- 21:55She doesn't matter.
- 21:56ABBY: Paige, turn around.
- 21:57Let me see that on you.
- 21:59What size is yours?
- 22:01I'm not fixing that costume.
- 22:02ABBY: Chloe and Brooke, switch.
- 22:04So the obvious choice was to take Chloe,
- 22:06who starts the routine stage left all by herself,
- 22:09and put her in the different color.
- 22:11She has to wear the green dress.
- 22:13The green doesn't fit Chloe, either.
- 22:14It's too small. - Yeah.
- 22:15KELLY: No.
- 22:17But she'll have one wear a costume too big
- 22:18and one wear a costume too small just so my daughter doesn't
- 22:22stick out.
- 22:23MELISSA: I don't know what these moms would do if they didn't
- 22:25have something to complain about.
- 22:26I'm so glad that Abby didn't give Maddie that green costume
- 22:29or I know those moms would go ballistic.
- 22:31So, ideally, we needed, like, three and two
- 22:33or all the same color.
- 22:35All right, that looks the best.
- 22:37PAIGE: Abby switched my costume with Chloe's, and I'm
- 22:39a little bit upset.
- 22:41But now the problem is my costume doesn't fit
- 22:45and it's kind of falling down.
- 22:47Of course Paige can't stand out.
- 22:49HOLLY: Well, I thought it was nice that she did stand out.
- 22:52Yeah, so did I. So Abby would rather two girls
- 22:54go on stage in costumes that don't fit, rather than have
- 22:58my daughter stand out.
- 23:01Why?
- 23:01It's too small?
- 23:04I kind of want to trade back dresses
- 23:06to that Paige can finally have this special part,
- 23:09and so that I have a dress that fits me and that fits her.
- 23:11I-- I really think it would have been nice if Paige could
- 23:14have kept the green.
- 23:16I don't know how Abby expects to meet these two studios that
- 23:19are coming to beat us.
- 23:20Our costumes are ugly.
- 23:21The spoon is too small.
- 23:23The dance is doomed.
- 23:24[laughs]
- 23:25I'm tired of fighting with her.
- 23:26I'm not fighting with her over a pink or a green costume.
- 23:28Either she can get your costume that fits
- 23:31or you'll wear the one that does not fit.
- 23:32I don't know how much longer I can take this, to have a dance
- 23:35teacher, like, sabotage and--
- 23:40KELLY: Honestly, I don't know how much
- 23:41more of Abby trying to sabotage the group numbers I can take.
- 23:44But I know she's just switching Paige's costume to hurt me.
- 23:47And, you know what?
- 23:48It worked.
- 23:49That woman is just evil.
- 23:50She is an evil person.
- 23:52It's making me sick.
- 24:00[music playing]
- 24:01ABBY: We've arrived at Energy Dance.
- 24:03While my girls are getting ready,
- 24:04I'm backstage checking out the other teams.
- 24:07Supposedly, they came to take us down, and I'm a little worried.
- 24:10These kids are fierce.
- 24:11[cheering and applause]
- 24:17We've got three solos, a duet, and a group number.
- 24:20I hope these girls don't let me down.
- 24:23[cheering and applause]
- 24:30So our first routine is number 39, the duet "Inside of Me."
- 24:35Approaching this competition, I know that I have people gunning
- 24:39for me.
- 24:41So I am using Chloe and Maddie's duet, "Inside of Me."
- 24:44It's a very difficult routine, level-wise.
- 24:46I think it's packed full of all the right elements
- 24:48to be a winning number.
- 24:49All right, you guys are ready. - OK.
- 24:51Come on, girls. You coming?
- 24:52Come on, Kenz.
- 24:53ANNOUNCER: Once again, we ask you please remain seated.
- 24:56[cheering and applause]
- 24:57I'm a little bit nervous because there is pretty tough
- 25:01competition out there.
- 25:02So we'll just hope for the best.
- 25:04ANNOUNCER: Judges, please welcome to the stage entry
- 25:07number 39, "Inside of Me."
- 25:09[cheering and applause]
- 25:13[music playing]
- 25:18(SINGING) Everybody has to try.
- 25:21That's what they say.
- 25:23But sometimes I don't know if I got what it takes
- 25:28to make the world come alive.
- 25:32But then I close my eyes.
- 25:39I put my foot upon the ground, listen to my heart
- 25:46but it don't make no sound.
- 25:49Inside I know if I don't turn this thing around,
- 25:54I'll never live it down.
- 25:58Don't back down.
- 26:00[cheering and applause]
- 26:01(SINGING) Inside of me, I find my wings.
- 26:07'Cause I can be most anything.
- 26:12Inside of me is all I'll ever need--
- 26:22is all I'll ever need.
- 26:32[cheering and applause]
- 26:40That's the best they ever did it.
- 26:42They have never danced that well before.
- 26:44Everything was right on the money.
- 26:45[cheering]
- 26:48Good girl!
- 26:50Chloe, so good.
- 26:51Really projected.
- 26:52Emotionally, the connection, their facial expressions
- 26:55on stage, working together--
- 26:58I thought they did an exquisite job.
- 27:00Good job.
- 27:01You should be very proud of yourself.
- 27:02Did it feel good? CHLOE: Yeah.
- 27:03CHRISTI: It looked great.
- 27:04ABBY: OK, ladies.
- 27:06We're going to go for the group.
- 27:07Moms, we need to get the hair done.
- 27:09KELLY: Well, Paige gets to put her big costume on.
- 27:11It's unfortunate, because I thought the green looked great
- 27:13on her.
- 27:14I know.
- 27:15Paige has to put on a dress that is two sizes too big for her,
- 27:17just because Abby doesn't want her to stand out in the group.
- 27:27Both girls are wearing costumes that don't fit.
- 27:29It just doesn't make any sense.
- 27:33ABBY: Make a big deal out of the spirit spoon.
- 27:36Smile.
- 27:37Shoulders, down.
- 27:39KELLY: I just don't know how much more I can take of Abby.
- 27:41I have had it with her.
- 27:42Brooke's putting her hand in.
- 27:44That's a valiant effort.
- 27:45One, two, three, etiquette!
- 27:48ABBY: The girls are gorgeous in their costumes.
- 27:50The spoon has a bow on it.
- 27:53We just have to hope and pray that this number comes
- 27:55across the way I want it to.
- 27:58ANNOUNCER: Judges, please welcome to the stage entry
- 28:00number 53, "Silver Spoons."
- 28:03[cheering and applause]
- 28:06[music playing]
- 28:37ABBY: Judges like to see something new and something
- 28:39different.
- 28:40I don't care what those mothers think.
- 28:41I think this is a winner.
- 28:43[music playing]
- 29:00[cheering and applause]
- 29:03From a judging point, I think it was a breath of fresh air.
- 29:06I think the routine was light and pretty, and certainly
- 29:09different than anything I saw.
- 29:11Do the judges think so?
- 29:13I don't know.
- 29:13[music playing]
- 29:14[cheering and applause]
- 29:16ANNOUNCER: Welcome, again, to Energy Regional Competition.
- 29:19We're going to get right to the awards.
- 29:22All righty.
- 29:23And the Energy Junior Duet/Trio--
- 29:27we have a top three.
- 29:30In third place, entry 16, "Stars on Your Grave Stone."
- 29:34[cheering and applause]
- 29:36In second place we have entry number 39, "Inside of Me."
- 29:42[cheering and applause]
- 29:47ANNOUNCER: First over all is entry number 21, "Don't Y'all?"
- 29:51[cheering and applause]
- 29:55CHRISTI: We have some serious competition here,
- 29:57and I think that Abby's substandard choreography is
- 29:59just setting us up to fail.
- 30:02We have the Energy Junior Small Group top three awards.
- 30:08In third place we have entry number 121, "Party."
- 30:12[cheering and applause]
- 30:16And, our second place, entry number 53, "Silver Spoons."
- 30:21[cheering and applause]
- 30:26ANNOUNCER: And our top Energy Junior
- 30:28Small Group goes to entry number 131, "Dream Girls."
- 30:33[cheering and applause]
- 30:36The studios who made the trip just to beat our girls--
- 30:39it was a trip well worth it.
- 30:40They beat us, hands down.
- 30:42So that group, they brought that trio
- 30:44and then they brought a junior small group
- 30:45to compete against "Silver Spoons,"
- 30:47and they brought three junior solos.
- 30:49They're here to beat us.
- 30:50Girls, last week you won.
- 30:53Today studios came specifically to beat the Abby Lee Dance
- 30:57Company, and they did just that.
- 30:59You win and then you don't have to work anymore because you
- 31:02think you're winners.
- 31:03These girls are not behaving like we're at a competition.
- 31:06I don't know what's going on with them,
- 31:07but they better start behaving like competitors.
- 31:10Girls, this is so sloppy, you might as well
- 31:13have the other teams the trophies.
- 31:14Maddie, Nia, Mackenzie-- you all have solos.
- 31:17If you're aiming for second, save yourself the aggravation.
- 31:21Save me the time.
- 31:23Get it?
- 31:27Is there anything else she could have barked
- 31:29at before they left?
- 31:30Because there's nothing wrong with second place.
- 31:33I don't know.
- 31:34But I really hope that they checked and made sure Maddie's
- 31:36music didn't skip this week.
- 31:37[laughter]
- 31:39This scratched CD situation has gone too far.
- 31:42I'm sick of hearing about it.
- 31:44Either that or make sure it did.
- 31:46[laughter]
- 31:48MELISSA: I trust Abby when she says that no one cheated.
- 31:57[music playing]
- 32:00So far, this entire competition has been a bust.
- 32:03It's all coming down to my solo routines.
- 32:05Let me have Nia, Mackenzie, Maddie, right here.
- 32:08Let's go.
- 32:08Now, what's done is done.
- 32:10You can't go back and do it again.
- 32:11But we are not about to lose to those two other teams.
- 32:14So either win or lose big.
- 32:17What?
- 32:19Maddie needs to emote to those judges.
- 32:22Nia's routine is really mature.
- 32:24I need her to pull it off.
- 32:26And Mackenzie-- come on, kid.
- 32:28Just remember the dance and stay out there do it.
- 32:30Please?
- 32:31You need to prove that your technique is up to the standard
- 32:33to do this number, because there's a lot of amazing girls
- 32:36out there.
- 32:36Understood?
- 32:38This is Nia's first solo since the whole Miami debacle.
- 32:41And, I'll tell you what.
- 32:43If that kid forgets this dance, there are no second chances.
- 32:46I need to do that to my stomach.
- 32:49MELISSA: We're in the dressing room,
- 32:50and Abby is helping Maddie with her makeup.
- 32:52She never helps my girls with their makeup.
- 32:54I don't feel like I'm getting the best treatment and the best
- 32:57training for my kids right now.
- 32:59And I'm going to fight with Abby until I get it.
- 33:01ABBY: All right, let's go.
- 33:02Don't dance too far down stage.
- 33:04Last week, my music skipped.
- 33:06And hopefully, this week nothing will happen to my solo.
- 33:09[cheering and applause]
- 33:10ANNOUNCER: This is Maddie performing "Helen Keller."
- 33:13MELISSA: Maddie's really been working hard on her "Helen
- 33:15Keller" solo this week.
- 33:16I think it's a really good thing that Maddie is being challenged
- 33:19this week by Abby.
- 33:20[music playing]
- 34:07[cheering and applause]
- 34:09ABBY: Maddie went out there, she looked great.
- 34:12Thank God nothing went wrong.
- 34:14Now, Nia is up next.
- 34:15I just hope she can pull this off.
- 34:17[cheering and applause]
- 34:18ANNOUNCER: This Nia performing "Bound."
- 34:19[cheering and applause]
- 34:23[music playing]
- 34:38(SINGING) Starts out sweet and then it tastes bitter.
- 34:46And the coolness of your fingers makes me blush and want
- 34:55to try to find it, so hot.
- 35:02It's hot in here.
- 35:08And I gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out,
- 35:13gotta get out.
- 35:17[applause]
- 35:21[music playing]
- 35:25ABBY: Nia's solo was good, but not great.
- 35:28I don't think she's even going to make the top five.
- 35:31Good job.
- 35:32CHRISTI: Good job, Maddie!
- 35:33HOLLY: Hey, Maddie! - Oh, honey, it was beautiful.
- 35:35How did you feel? - Good.
- 35:36Did you love it?
- 35:37[cheering]
- 35:42I was really pleased with Nia's performance,
- 35:45and she's come such a long way.
- 35:46I think Abby's finally taking her in the right direction.
- 35:50You're a better dancer now, right?
- 35:51Don't you think?
- 35:52Mm-hmm.
- 35:53I'm so proud of you.
- 35:55ABBY: All right.
- 35:56Come on, Mackenzie.
- 35:57Now, listen.
- 35:58Twice in a row you've exited that stage
- 36:01without doing your whole number.
- 36:02You have to say on the stage until the music is over.
- 36:04Do you understand? - Yes.
- 36:05ABBY: When Mackenzie steps out on stage,
- 36:08I will be in the wings.
- 36:09And if she tries to run off, I'm serious,
- 36:12she is going right back out on that stage.
- 36:14Come on, let's go.
- 36:19She knows the dance, you know, but Abby freaks her out.
- 36:22Every kid has forgotten dances,
- 36:24and she's never helped them backstage.
- 36:27I'm really nervous about my solo
- 36:28because I might forget the moves, again.
- 36:31And Abby would totally yell at me if I forgot this dance.
- 36:34ANNOUNCER: Entry numner 185, Mackenzie, "Daisy Chains."
- 36:38[cheering and applause]
- 36:47ANNOUNCER: Please welcome to the stage entry number 185.
- 36:50This is Mackenzie performing "Daisy Chains."
- 36:53[music playing]
- 36:59(SINGING) La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- 37:04La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- 37:07You're the taffy apple of my eye, sweeter than a sugar

- 39:16I don't know what to think.
- 39:18KELLY: Now that the competition is done and over with,
- 39:20I want to go give Abby a piece of my mind.
- 39:22Between the costume fiasco and the scratched CD,
- 39:24I've had it with her antics.
- 39:26Abby, can I talk to you for a second I just
- 39:28wanted to see-- it it, like, your goal in life
- 39:30to make Paige feel bad?
- 39:31Finally once she had the odd costume
- 39:34and was going to have a second to shine,
- 39:36and then you take it from her.
- 39:37And then you gave her one that didn't even fit.
- 39:39And it was, like, no big deal.
- 39:40I'm not setting out to hurt a kid's feelings.
- 39:42You have to understand that.
- 39:44Chloe was the obvious choice.
- 39:45I needed all eyes to go over to her because she started
- 39:48with the spoon. - And I realize that.
- 39:49Kelly, come on.
- 39:50The dance is over.
- 39:51We already did the competition.
- 39:53They were second.
- 39:55Who cares about the dress?
- 39:57God forbid you would see Paige stand out just a little bit.
- 40:00There's five kids.
- 40:01You can see them all on stage.
- 40:02Whatever, Abby.
- 40:03I mean, it's something different every day.
- 40:06That's it.
- 40:07I will not take these accusations and finger
- 40:10pointing, anymore.
- 40:12I've had it.
- 40:13Girls, every single one of you know the reason
- 40:17we change things is because it doesn't look right.
- 40:21That's why we change routines.
- 40:22Don't go accusing people of doing things
- 40:25that they didn't do.
- 40:27Win or lose, I'm not going to send somebody out there
- 40:29with bad music.
- 40:31And if any one of your mothers have something to say about it,
- 40:33come to Abby and find out what happens with the CD when it
- 40:36skips.
- 40:37And we'll tell you exactly what to do with it.
- 40:47MELISSA: Come on, girls.
- 40:48We're getting on the bus.
- 40:50Finally, Abby has put an end to the CD skipping issue.
- 40:53We both said our piece.
- 40:55And if the moms don't believe it, that's their problem.
- 40:57I'm not discussing it anymore.
