- 0:08The right to express what we think, to
- 0:10give our opinions, to be listened to.
- 0:13Yes, we have to have that sexual
- 0:15education so that later on, when we
- 0:17have our first relationship, we know
- 0:19what we should do. No, those types of
- 0:22things are very important. That is the
- 0:24right to be well-informed, more than
- 0:26anything because one has to be
- 0:27well-informed on the subject before
- 0:29doing certain things.
- 0:32Coming to school, from, let's say,
- 0:34kindergarten, primary, and
- 0:37secondary school onwards, is a right
- 0:39that everyone should have and that
- 0:41should be respected and that is how it
- 0:42should be. The Convention on the Rights
- 0:50of the Child states that girls, boys,
- 0:52and adolescents have the right to
- 0:53decide, participate, and have an
- 0:55opinion on all matters that involve
- 0:57them, such as sexual and reproductive
- 0:58health. In Argentina, we have two laws
- 1:05that refer to the rights related to the
- 1:07sexuality of boys and girls: Law 25673
- 1:14on sexual health and responsible
- 1:15procreation, which defends the right of
- 1:17boys and girls to receive information,
- 1:20to also receive free contraceptives,
- 1:21and to receive specialized medical care
- 1:24in adolescent clinics. The other law is
- 1:3026,150, which defends the right to
- 1:32receive comprehensive sex education for
- 1:34all students in our territory, whether
- 1:37they attend private or state-run
- 1:38schools. You have the right to decide
- 1:48whether or not to have sexual relations
- 1:50; to decide whether or not to have
- 1:52children, how many to have, when, and
- 1:54with whom; to educate and raise them
- 1:56even if you are a teenager; to receive
- 1:58sex education; to be informed to
- 2:00prevent pregnancies or sexually
- 2:02transmitted diseases; to continue in
- 2:03school if you are pregnant, a mother,
- 2:06or living with HIV/AIDS; to access
- 2:07health services and to attend without
- 2:09the company of an adult from the age of
- 2:1214. You have the right to know and to
- 2:14decide.
- 2:20The right to have your needs taken into
- 2:22account and considered and accompanied
- 2:23in your growth. The right to learn to
- 2:28take care of your body, to take care of
- 2:29your health, to defend yourself in
- 2:31situations of sexual abuse, and the
- 2:33right to freely live your sexual
- 2:35orientation without being discriminated
- 2:37against. and the right to live in
- 2:40educational institutions where the
- 2:42rights of women and men are respected
- 2:44equally.
- 2:46I know that we have the right to have
- 2:48something, sex education in schools,
- 2:50right? Because I think that is an
- 2:55important foundation for your teenager
- 2:56and to avoid what happens today
- 2:58regarding pregnancy, diseases and so on
- 3:00. Uh, and I think it's also good to
- 3:04learn from this.
