12. 0:20the light of day Alex Jones is too

15. 0:28interview this morning Meg Kelly facing
16. 0:31a wave of Fury over an upcoming
17. 0:33interview with popular far-right radio
18. 0:35show host and conspiracy theorist Alex
19. 0:38Jones the whole thing is

70. 2:36edited video very deceptively to hurt
71. 2:38people's feelings and to drive a wedge

73. 2:42backed off his theory that Sandy Hook
74. 2:43was indeed a hoax we have reached out to
75. 2:45him as well as Megan Kelly and NBC we've
76. 2:47not received any comments but Kelly's
77. 2:49executive producer tells CNN quote that
78. 2:51as journalists it is our job to
79. 2:53interview newsmakers no matter how
80. 2:55important their view may be what other
81. 2:57kind of backlash we seeing uh well so
82. 2:59far at least Le one Advertiser has
83. 3:00pulled out of her show JB Morgan Chase
84. 3:02has pulled out all of its local TV ads
85. 3:04as well as as his digital ads and she
86. 3:06was supposed to MC an event tomorrow
87. 3:08night in Washington you guys for Sandy
88. 3:10Hook promise that's an advoc advocacy
89. 3:12group for gun violence prevention uh
90. 3:14she's no longer going to be hosting and
91. 3:16they're asking that she not air this
92. 3:17interview as well okay let's talk to Dan

97. 3:26Megan Kelly is using him are they using
98. 3:28each other um sure but I don't think
99. 3:31this is a close call I mean what Alex
100. 3:33Jones says is often reprehensible
101. 3:36sometimes it's crazy he's also
102. 3:38incredibly influential he has a lot of
103. 3:40followers and the president of the
104. 3:42United States himself has cited him
105. 3:45favorably talked about how much he
106. 3:47supports Alex Jones the notion that the
107. 3:50answer to that is to ignore him is
108. 3:53absurd I mean what journalists do every
109. 3:55day is to take someone like that who is
110. 3:59um uh influential and who is
111. 4:02controversial and to ask hard questions
112. 4:04we haven't even seen the interview yet
113. 4:06if she does a softball interview let's
114. 4:08criticize her but until then the notion
115. 4:11that NBC shouldn't even put him on the
116. 4:13air I've interviewed murderers before so
117. 4:16has every major Network and we don't get
118. 4:18this kind of backlash I guess the
119. 4:19question comes down to how influential
120. 4:21is he how important is he in fact Megan
121. 4:22Kelly in her tweet was using exactly the
122. 4:24opposite argument saying most people
123. 4:26don't know him is it is it right to give
124. 4:28someone like that a platform even if you
125. 4:30are questioning yeah but the key is you
126. 4:32have to expose people like this you have
127. 4:34to challenge them um I think he is a big
128. 4:37enough deal I mean look the fact that
129. 4:38we're talking about it the fact that so
130. 4:39many people are talking about it why
131. 4:41because I guess he's a big enough deal I
132. 4:43mean he is influential enough that I
133. 4:46think that people we're talking about it
134. 4:47because it's going on the show yeah yeah
135. 4:49but but the point is that that he is he
136. 4:52is influential look is it a small group
137. 4:54comparatively yes but but what he says
138. 4:58ends up mattering to a lot of people and
139. 4:59I think it's really important that Megan
140. 5:02Kelly ask very tough questions of him
141. 5:05try to point out
142. 5:07inconsistencies highlight some of the
143. 5:09flaws in what he says and say to him hey
144. 5:12what are you doing a lot of the time and
145. 5:15and let's wait and see if she does that
146. 5:17it's clear that Alex Jones thinks she's
147. 5:19done that which is probably why Alex
148. 5:20Jones is loving the attention for this
149. 5:22so now he's this this Falls right into
150. 5:24his theory that all the media is corrupt
151. 5:26he knew it was going to be edited when
152. 5:27he did this of course it was going to be
