  24. 0:56that they are probably making preference
  25. 0:58to those types of stories thank you to
  26. 1:00you screen for sponsoring this
  27. 1:03video I'm so happy that uh Tori pointed
  28. 1:06you my way and it's such a joyed to be
  29. 1:08here fun fact in just four months just
  30. 1:11in case this gets people excited about
  31. 1:13what we're going to talk about in the
  32. 1:15first four months of Tori and I working
  33. 1:17together she grew by 1.5 million follow
  34. 1:201.4 million followers collected almost
  35. 1:24150,000 new emails to her list we're now
  36. 1:26almost at 300,000 uh within the last
  37. 1:29like year and a half um and she has now
  38. 1:32made over $700,000 with this strategy
  39. 1:35for her own products so lots of good
  40. 1:37stuff here in terms of just like
  41. 1:39whatever metric you're looking to grow
  42. 1:40that you're here listening to this for
  43. 1:42um I'll have an example or something
  44. 1:44that you know you can use so well we'll
  45. 1:46put a pin in that I'm going to revisit
  46. 1:47some of those to some of those numbers
  47. 1:49to say how Absol but um let's start
  48. 1:52let's start with conversational
  49. 1:53marketing as a topic we haven't really
  50. 1:55touched on this on the podcast and that
  51. 1:57seems to be how you frame the the work
  52. 2:00that you guys do at school of bots so
  53. 2:02can you explain what that is yes in
  54. 2:04simplest terms and kind of my definition
  55. 2:06now having been in this space for the
  56. 2:08last seven years is that conversational
  57. 2:10marketing when we look at social media
  58. 2:13is simply the process the art and the
  59. 2:16science of taking people from a Content
  60. 2:19viewer or a follower all the way to
  61. 2:21becoming a customer and the way that we
  62. 2:24do that is through the DMS on social
  63. 2:26media and is that platform agnostic are
  64. 2:30we talking about any social media
  65. 2:31platform we can do this through no so to
  66. 2:35kind of break it down we have Facebook
  67. 2:37that first became available um at the
  68. 2:40very beginning of this which was like in
  69. 2:412016 and then from there WhatsApp became
  70. 2:44available and then Instagram we
  71. 2:47primarily at this point focus on
  72. 2:48Facebook and Instagram because it's the
  73. 2:49biggest opportunity for anyone who's
  74. 2:52putting out content on those platforms
  75. 2:53to just get a lot more people converting
  76. 2:56for you versus going to let's say your
  77. 2:58landing pages or your sales pages
  78. 3:00and for the other platforms like x.com
  79. 3:03or YouTube or LinkedIn um it's not quite
  80. 3:06available yet in the way that it is on
  81. 3:08Instagram and Facebook I should also add
  82. 3:09Tik Tok is in that bucket as well where
  83. 3:12there are very simple automations that
  84. 3:14you can run with your content and the
  85. 3:16DMS on the platforms but the platforms
  86. 3:18themselves haven't yet opened themselves
  87. 3:20up to saying hey you can build
  88. 3:22full-blown automated conversations in
  89. 3:24here in compliance with our terms of
  90. 3:26service and privacy policies so one day
  91. 3:28but meta has definely been the guinea
  92. 3:30pig out of the social medias for this so
  93. 3:33theoretically conversational marketing
  94. 3:34as approach as an approach could work
  95. 3:36anywhere but through the means that you
  96. 3:38use and teach with specific tools that
  97. 3:41tooling is a technical limitation on
  98. 3:43platforms that are not basically The
  99. 3:45Meta Suite of platforms correct so for
  100. 3:50the purposes of me misspeaking from time
  101. 3:52to time I feel like the the term I hear
  102. 3:55a lot is like Instagram Automation and
  103. 3:58is that basically the same thing we're
  104. 4:00talking about here it is in the sense
  105. 4:02that conversational marketing is more of
  106. 4:04like saying let's say development or
  107. 4:08social media it's like this bigger
  108. 4:09picture thing of hey um even things like
  109. 4:12website you know chat Bots or chat GPT
  110. 4:15or like some of these things could be
  111. 4:16considered conversational marketing
  112. 4:18right so the term I both like it and
  113. 4:21tend to not use it too much these days
  114. 4:23because it is just so widely
  115. 4:25encompassing versus to your point
  116. 4:27Instagram automation is much more
  117. 4:29tangible and it's hey when somebody does
  118. 4:32something on Instagram to my profile as
  119. 4:35a Creator or a business then I can
  120. 4:38automatically reply in this way to them
  121. 4:41can you walk me through a customer
  122. 4:43journey of interacting with
  123. 4:46conversational marketing and how that
  124. 4:48actually plays out to me the individual
  125. 4:50yeah absolutely and to kind of give an
  126. 4:53idea of where this can start from I'm
  127. 4:55going to pull up my screen real quick
  128. 4:57and show you just an overview of the
  129. 4:59nine different places where you can
  130. 5:02start that automated interaction so
  131. 5:04anyone who has an Instagram profile
  132. 5:06that's a Creator or a business can use
  133. 5:08this where these nine ways just to share
  134. 5:11for everybody who can't maybe see is
  135. 5:13commenting on a post so this is what
  136. 5:15somebody would do to you replying to one
  137. 5:17of your stories the bio on your profile
  138. 5:20right just what it says in text somebody
  139. 5:22tagging you in their story someone
  140. 5:25directly messaging you just going to
  141. 5:26your profile you know and hitting the
  142. 5:27message button on Instagram you using a
  143. 5:30link that takes people to a DM
  144. 5:32conversation with you instead of to your
  145. 5:34Instagram profile add traffic as well
  146. 5:36from Facebook Instagram Etc if somebody
  147. 5:40comments on a live and then also if
  148. 5:42somebody is in a broadcast channel of
  149. 5:43yours on Instagram we can then send them
  150. 5:46over to the DMS and trigger a message to
  151. 5:48them so these are the nine ways that we
  152. 5:50can actually start the conversation most
  153. 5:53people are using just the comment one
  154. 5:55right now on a post right that's the
  155. 5:56most common one you'll tend to see right
  156. 5:58now and I will say that's with good
  157. 5:59reason because typically on an average
  158. 6:02account that we work with that's going
  159. 6:03to be anywhere from typically 50,000
  160. 6:06followers to up to 45 million followers
  161. 6:08on Instagram we get about 70% of the
  162. 6:11traffic from post comments so that's the
  163. 6:13one where typically if you're a user
  164. 6:14who's going to go into someone else's
  165. 6:16you know DM system then that's where you
  166. 6:18would start you would comment on a post
  167. 6:20they might say something like hey I've
  168. 6:22got this free webinar coming up um if
  169. 6:24you want to get access just comment the
  170. 6:26word class and I will send you over the
  171. 6:28information for that that just want to
  172. 6:30pause and make sure that that all makes
  173. 6:32sense so far yeah so these nine things
  174. 6:33these are essentially triggers it's an
  175. 6:35action that the user takes and that is
  176. 6:37triggering the next step in this piece
  177. 6:40of Automation and I think a lot of
  178. 6:41people watching this have probably
  179. 6:42experienced the thing you just described
  180. 6:45of hey this is a short form video at the
  181. 6:46end of it they said if you want this
  182. 6:48thing comment this word and that will
  183. 6:51happen and that tends to be fairly
  184. 6:54instantaneous why don't you just take us
  185. 6:56through like that like an entire example
  186. 6:58if you could of what this interaction
  187. 7:00looks like so we understand on the front
  188. 7:02end how we're interacting with it and on
  189. 7:04the back end what is happening to
  190. 7:06deliver that end result yeah absolutely
  191. 7:09so on the leftand side we have a post
  192. 7:13and that post says comment protein if
  193. 7:15you want this free breakfast guide so as
  194. 7:17soon as you comment then what happens in
  195. 7:19the next image here on the right of that
  196. 7:22is we now send somebody a message so I
  197. 7:25know Jay I told you hey let's not get
  198. 7:27too deep too fast um but I know your
  199. 7:29audience also you know isn't necessarily
  200. 7:31beginner marketers or beginner business
  201. 7:32owners so I think they can handle just
  202. 7:35seeing kind of the different steps of
  203. 7:36this and I'm going to walk you guys
  204. 7:37through what's happening at each step so
  205. 7:39as soon as somebody comes into the DMS
  206. 7:42typically most of the time somebody who
  207. 7:44is using this automation on Instagram
  208. 7:46would just send the link to their
  209. 7:48landing page that's the easiest thing to
  210. 7:50set up and truthfully that's the best
  211. 7:51thing to start with if you are just
  212. 7:53testing the waters of this technology
  213. 7:55now what we do is we take it several
  214. 7:57steps further and this example is one of
  215. 8:00a simpler type of funnel where instead
  216. 8:03of sending someone to a landing page to
  217. 8:05go and get let's say this free guide we
  218. 8:07can instead replicate that same
  219. 8:09experience inside of the DMS and do
  220. 8:12things like collect their name and their
  221. 8:14email which you'll then see in the first
  222. 8:16and the second steps here and even allow
  223. 8:18them to change that information if they
  224. 8:19needed to instead of them having to go
  225. 8:21to the landing page this gives us an 85%
  226. 8:24or higher email capture rate compared to
  227. 8:26the average 25% landing page opt-in rate
  228. 8:29and it also gets taken over to your
  229. 8:31email marketing platform through
  230. 8:33behindth scenes Tech right and then at
  231. 8:35that point we can in this case deliver
  232. 8:36this free guide and someone can actually
  233. 8:38open the guide the PDF directly in the
  234. 8:40DMS so they never had to leave the
  235. 8:42platform to accomplish this and this
  236. 8:43gets us 85% or higher of people who
  237. 8:46commented on your post all the way to
  238. 8:48the end of the experience here it's so
  239. 8:51wild so to repeat some of this back to
  240. 8:53make sure people are following you
  241. 8:55basically you kind of laid out two
  242. 8:57strategies you could take at the point
  243. 8:58of the hey com this word and that
  244. 9:01trigger sends an action you could just
  245. 9:04have the automation say here's the
  246. 9:05landing page to get your free thing and
  247. 9:07I click that it opens up a browser I put
  248. 9:09in my name and email I get the free
  249. 9:10thing you're saying you guys take that a
  250. 9:12step further to have that entire
  251. 9:15interaction happen within the direct
  252. 9:16message thread and that is converting at
  253. 9:20something to the tune of 60% higher than
  254. 9:23having people go to a landing page that
  255. 9:26is correct I'll show you just a quick
  256. 9:28kind of graphic of the difference
  257. 9:30between if you are not using any kind of
  258. 9:32automation this is just a side by-side
  259. 9:35comparison of what I just showed you
  260. 9:36versus what you can do with a landing
  261. 9:38page right you miss out on all those
  262. 9:40people who come to the page but then
  263. 9:42just decide hey this isn't for me or
  264. 9:43they forget to opt in or whatever have
  265. 9:45you um and then to go back to what you
  266. 9:47were saying a lot of people are then
  267. 9:50also doing a simple automation where
  268. 9:53it's not really a conversation we're not
  269. 9:55respecting the medium that we're in in
  270. 9:57that sense where it's kind of like hey
  271. 9:58here's a link good luck and at the end
  272. 10:00of the day I'm not crapping on that in
  273. 10:02the sense that like hey you know
  274. 10:03everyone's busy this is a great way to
  275. 10:05get started with this and it can get
  276. 10:07very complex as I'm sure you all can
  277. 10:09start to imagine um but there is so much
  278. 10:11more that you can do with this to
  279. 10:13significantly increase the amount of
  280. 10:16emails you can add to your business as
  281. 10:17well as of course increase the amount of
  282. 10:19sales that you're getting for whatever
  283. 10:21it is that you promote on Instagram and
  284. 10:22I'm familiar with many chat as a tool
  285. 10:24that a lot of people in my space use for
  286. 10:26this is that are we implicitly talking
  287. 10:28about many chat is a platform that you
  288. 10:30typically use to enable this or are
  289. 10:32there other Alternatives we should be
  290. 10:34aware of yeah many chat is definitely
  291. 10:36one of the best tools to use in your
  292. 10:38Tech stack and for example because my
  293. 10:41team and I are building out very
  294. 10:43Advanced and complex and like
  295. 10:45multi-phase kind of campaigns with this
  296. 10:47technology we have multiple platforms
  297. 10:49that we use and many chat is going to be
  298. 10:52one of the key ones that allows you to
  299. 10:54easily connect your account to Instagram
  300. 10:57and Facebook and run this automation
  301. 11:00system and then we have other tools uh
  302. 11:02certain AI tools automation thirdparty
  303. 11:04platforms that like connect to the other
  304. 11:06Tech that are customers use and they
  305. 11:09plug into many chat so you can think of
  306. 11:10many chat kind of like your Hub almost
  307. 11:12like your email marketing platform but
  308. 11:13for the DMS it enables this type of
  309. 11:17conversation but you're saying it's not
  310. 11:19the full experience that can be possible
  311. 11:23if you really want to push this to the
  312. 11:24edge yes exactly and truthfully for most
  313. 11:28businesses who are going to like run the
  314. 11:30system in house maybe you only have a
  315. 11:32couple products or maybe you don't have
  316. 11:33any products and you primarily monetize
  317. 11:35with brand sponsorships um or some other
  318. 11:38you know medium then you may just need a
  319. 11:40few simple automations you can run all
  320. 11:42that in many chat and that maybe is
  321. 11:44perfect for your business because you
  322. 11:46don't want to spend time doing all sorts
  323. 11:48of other things like there's other ways
  324. 11:50that you can get more Roi for your time
  325. 11:52versus let's say a company that has a
  326. 11:55ton of different products different
  327. 11:56online courses or coaching programs or
  328. 11:59something of that nature they have many
  329. 12:01different sales mechanisms like free
  330. 12:03webinars maybe live webinars that they
  331. 12:05do they've got a podcast a YouTube
  332. 12:07videos you know all these different
  333. 12:08things and so it becomes um like a big
  334. 12:11web essentially of these things that
  335. 12:13you're promoting and so there's an art
  336. 12:15and a science to like how you get
  337. 12:17traffic into all those different things
  338. 12:19and then how you actually make those
  339. 12:20interactions more meaningful both for
  340. 12:22the people who are experiencing them as
  341. 12:24well as make it worth the time to set it
  342. 12:26up for your business um as you start to
  343. 12:29like layer more and more of that on and
  344. 12:31that's where then it makes sense to
  345. 12:33bring in maybe a webinar platform um
  346. 12:35things like open AI or like other AI
  347. 12:38tools that we can um be able to to tune
  348. 12:40into if we want to let's say bring in
  349. 12:42like an AI salesperson use case so
  350. 12:45there's other things that we can layer
  351. 12:47on top of like that initial simple
  352. 12:48automation that we're talking about but
  353. 12:50the first step is many chat for sure a
  354. 12:53great way to use these automations is to
  355. 12:54promote your paid products like a

  396. 14:16interested check out the link in the
  397. 14:18description thank you to you screen for
  398. 14:19sponsoring this video when I think about
  399. 14:22the difference in conversion we're
  400. 14:23talking about
  401. 14:25here it's such a large leap part of it I
  402. 14:28can certainly say like okay there's less
  403. 14:31friction I'm not leaving this experience
  404. 14:33going to a new experience there's
  405. 14:35obviously some friction there um I'm
  406. 14:38wondering how much of this you would
  407. 14:39attribute to less
  408. 14:42friction uh and how much you would
  409. 14:43attribute to maybe an implicit
  410. 14:46assumption that this was done manually
  411. 14:49by the end uh like by the Creator
  412. 14:53themselves do you find that people are
  413. 14:55aware this is an automation or they're
  414. 14:58not aware that it's an Automation and
  415. 14:59that's why it works so well yes there
  416. 15:02are two sides of it and the way that we
  417. 15:05do it um versus some people that I'll
  418. 15:07kind of speak about like what I've seen
  419. 15:09in the market since I'm always observing
  420. 15:10and kind of saying okay like what are
  421. 15:12people doing and how can we make sure
  422. 15:15that we are staying on the edge of
  423. 15:16what's happening in the space with like
  424. 15:18consumer behavior of like what's going
  425. 15:19to feel the best to the user and also
  426. 15:21accomplish the business result so the
  427. 15:23way that we structure our funnels and
  428. 15:25our system and like the voice that's
  429. 15:27essentially speaking to people through
  430. 15:29the automation is it's always implied
  431. 15:32that this is automation we don't
  432. 15:34typically come out and say hey this is
  433. 15:36so and so bot and blah blah blah you
  434. 15:37know and like kind of go the the like
  435. 15:39Alter Ego personality route of like hey
  436. 15:42I've taken over Jay's DMS you know kind
  437. 15:44of thing because we find that that
  438. 15:45actually doesn't work well people want
  439. 15:47to engage with your likeness which is
  440. 15:48why they're engaging with your content
  441. 15:50in the first place especially if you're
  442. 15:51a personal brand you can go the more
  443. 15:53like Alter Ego like hey it's Jake from
  444. 15:55State Farm you know kind of thing like
  445. 15:57in the DMS for a company brand that does
  446. 15:59work um and it works well but if you're
  447. 16:01giving a Persona as a alter Persona to
  448. 16:05the person who's creating content then
  449. 16:07that's where we find it doesn't work um
  450. 16:08and so anyways the type of feedback that
  451. 16:10we get I may have a quick example on
  452. 16:13here what we have seen over the years
  453. 16:15are thousands of messages like this
  454. 16:16where they say I know it's all automated
  455. 16:18but this is so nice this is so engaging
  456. 16:20like so friendly like this gave me what
  457. 16:22I wanted when I wanted and how I wanted
  458. 16:25and people we find are appreciating that
  459. 16:27more than ever when they can get
  460. 16:29something 24/7 from you without having
  461. 16:30to wait for that manual touch um now on
  462. 16:33the other hand I see people who I'm not
  463. 16:35necessarily advocating for this um and
  464. 16:37I'm also not saying there's anything
  465. 16:39wrong with it it's just different from
  466. 16:40what we have found to work best for us
  467. 16:42and the companies that we work with
  468. 16:44where they will either actually do
  469. 16:45everything manually or they will use
  470. 16:47many chat to start the first message and
  471. 16:50the first conversation and then from
  472. 16:52there they act like it is a human and
  473. 16:55they um kind of go back and forth with
  474. 16:58yes it's an autom but there's no buttons
  475. 17:00or there's no kind of indication that
  476. 17:01it's automated technically speaking not
  477. 17:04to go down rabbit holes and what not
  478. 17:07legally but there are certain states
  479. 17:09where you cannot pretend to be a human
  480. 17:13uh if it is in automation so in
  481. 17:15California for example there are laws
  482. 17:16that say Hey you can't like have an
  483. 17:18automation pretending like it's a human
  484. 17:20um and so in the state of like okay
  485. 17:23there are buttons there are different
  486. 17:24things that differentiate these
  487. 17:25experiences that we run to have it be
  488. 17:28very clear that this is not you know
  489. 17:30your typical human conversation even
  490. 17:32though it has elements of that um versus
  491. 17:35like pretending to be let's say a human
  492. 17:37but it's actually just random automated
  493. 17:40messages um it's a little bit of a gray
  494. 17:42area right now and I'm sure AI laws and
  495. 17:44everything are going to evolve so that
  496. 17:45there is more clear distinction um but
  497. 17:47right now we find that even that
  498. 17:49approach doesn't tend to work super well
  499. 17:51just yet because the AI is not good
  500. 17:53enough or the automation really isn't
  501. 17:55good enough yet to have a good
  502. 17:57conversation with somebody in the same
  503. 17:58way we can if we program more of like a
  504. 18:01hey here's the path that you're going to
  505. 18:03go down here are some different options
  506. 18:05you have but here's like how to get to
  507. 18:07the end result you came into this
  508. 18:09conversation for versus leaving it super
  509. 18:11open open-ended where it's almost like
  510. 18:12you're talking a chat GPT you know
  511. 18:14inside of someone's DMs I hope that
  512. 18:16makes sense I might have gone in a
  513. 18:17couple different directions there for
  514. 18:18sure so there is there's an aspect of
  515. 18:20even if I recognize it's automated
  516. 18:21ultimately what I want is convenience
  517. 18:23and things on my time schedule so I'm
  518. 18:26not feeling slighted that this is an
  519. 18:29Automation in lie of manual effort on
  520. 18:32behalf of the person yes this all speaks
  521. 18:35to me because I know for my business and
  522. 18:38I think a lot of people listening to
  523. 18:39this we allocate a lot of time to social
  524. 18:43media creating content and then every
  525. 18:45once in a while I step back and I say
  526. 18:47what am I doing all that for I'm not
  527. 18:49even giving people a way to go deeper on
  528. 18:52that like sure hopefully my effort
  529. 18:55posting on LinkedIn every day is
  530. 18:57building the brand and building
  531. 18:58awareness and eventually I can cash in
  532. 19:00that awareness later but being able to
  533. 19:03create an immediate bridge at the point
  534. 19:05of interacting with my content to
  535. 19:07something that deepens the relationship
  536. 19:09and gives people a step closer to the
  537. 19:12outcome they want this really speaks to
  538. 19:14me and makes me feel better about all
  539. 19:16the you know time and energy and even
  540. 19:20investment I'm putting into social media
  541. 19:23so I'm listening to this I'm saying okay
  542. 19:26I should you know make sure I still have
  543. 19:28a login to miny chat kick off the dust
  544. 19:30and try this out but before I dive in
  545. 19:32with both feet what are the
  546. 19:34commonalities you see among people who
  547. 19:36do see good results with conversational
  548. 19:38marketing how do we know that this is
  549. 19:40going to work for our business and is
  550. 19:42something we should invest time into
  551. 19:43figuring out yes thank you so much for
  552. 19:46asking that because and I know we talked
  553. 19:48a little bit about it beforehand but I
  554. 19:49think people at any sage in business get
  555. 19:51so excited about oh here's the new thing
  556. 19:53and here's what I'm going to explore
  557. 19:54without realizing okay maybe I should
  558. 19:56have this prerequisite before I go and
  559. 19:58do this um so there are two key
  560. 20:00prerequisites to keep in mind before you
  561. 20:02dive into even a simple Automation in my
  562. 20:05opinion just because I really value time
  563. 20:07regardless of where you're at in in your
  564. 20:09business Journey or your creator journey
  565. 20:11and the first thing is that whatever
  566. 20:13you're planning to promote on Instagram
  567. 20:15through an automation make sure that
  568. 20:17it's something that is proven and when I
  569. 20:19say proven if this is a brand sponsor
  570. 20:22then it probably is a proven offer
  571. 20:24because they are clearly paying you to
  572. 20:25promote this so you don't have to worry
  573. 20:26too much about that on the other hand if
  574. 20:29this is your own product then typically
  575. 20:31the Milestone I want to see or the
  576. 20:33marker is that at least 30 people have
  577. 20:35purchased this product from you in the
  578. 20:38same way for example if it's let's say a
  579. 20:40$300 online course then I want to see 30
  580. 20:43people who have gone through maybe a
  581. 20:45free webinar of yours they all watch the
  582. 20:47same webinar and they all decided to buy
  583. 20:48the same product same price point same
  584. 20:50name of the product same delivery of the
  585. 20:52product that gives you enough data to
  586. 20:54know hey this is something people are
  587. 20:55interested in it doesn't matter the cost
  588. 20:57of the product by the way we've sold
  589. 20:58products from a doar to $100,000 I still
  590. 21:01have this rule in place of uh regardless
  591. 21:03of how simple or complex the automation
  592. 21:05system is going to be it's probably not
  593. 21:07worth your time to try to promote
  594. 21:09something that you just don't know is
  595. 21:10actually going to sell or resonate with
  596. 21:12people versus trying to make the offer
  597. 21:14better or the sales mechanism better
  598. 21:16which in the example I gave is the
  599. 21:17webinar so first thing proven offer if I
  600. 21:21have um made a product and emailed my
  601. 21:24list about it and 30 people have
  602. 21:25purchased I didn't do a webinar but 30
  603. 21:27people purchased from this launch
  604. 21:29campaign or you know some some promo I
  605. 21:33ran that would cross this off your list
  606. 21:37yes precisely okay what's the what's the
  607. 21:39second prerequisite and the second thing
  608. 21:41is making sure you have enough traffic
  609. 21:43right now that's engaging with your
  610. 21:45content yes other metrics are useful
  611. 21:47around knowing okay how many
  612. 21:49non-followers are seeing your content
  613. 21:51how many followers do you have what's
  614. 21:52your average views per reel over the
  615. 21:54last let's say 30 days likes shares
  616. 21:57saves you know all those things are
  617. 21:59helpful but the most important thing is
  618. 22:01actually looking at your comments and so
  619. 22:03our absolute minimum before you
  620. 22:05implement and I would say this is even
  621. 22:07more important than the proven offer you
  622. 22:09can mess up on the proven offer but if
  623. 22:10you don't have this um it's not going to
  624. 22:13perform for you and that is that we want
  625. 22:14to see at least five comments on average
  626. 22:17per post over the last 30 days and I'm
  627. 22:20being really specific with that because
  628. 22:22what we have found and we have tested
  629. 22:23this on hundreds of thousands of
  630. 22:25accounts um is that when you don't get
  631. 22:28some kind of engagement on your posts
  632. 22:30and not just posts that are saying hey
  633. 22:32comment this word right you can still
  634. 22:34technically count that but you would
  635. 22:35want to see genuine conversation or
  636. 22:37reaction saying oh I so relate to that
  637. 22:40or hey this was really helpful um you
  638. 22:42know in the comments of your content
  639. 22:44that doesn't have call to actions as
  640. 22:46well because then you know hey I'm
  641. 22:47putting out good quality content that's
  642. 22:49resonating and so when I make the ask
  643. 22:52and I say hey I've got something that
  644. 22:55even if it's free I still am asking for
  645. 22:57you to give it attention and sign up for
  646. 22:59this thing that you're going to have
  647. 23:01people who feel like there's been enough
  648. 23:03trust building relationship building
  649. 23:05Goodwill built up for them to say cool I
  650. 23:08can you know I think that they would
  651. 23:09deliver on whatever this thing is that
  652. 23:11they're promoting I'm going to opt into
  653. 23:12this if you're not at that five comment
  654. 23:15Mark then we tend to find that it's very
  655. 23:17hard for you to get sufficient traffic
  656. 23:20to the automation so that you actually
  657. 23:22know if it's working or not because if
  658. 23:25you don't have you know let's say at
  659. 23:26least five people commenting on your
  660. 23:28post right now the automation typically
  661. 23:30will 2 to 3x if not more the amount of
  662. 23:33comments that you get on your post by
  663. 23:35telling people hey comment the specific
  664. 23:36word I'll give you this thing but if
  665. 23:39that's going to be let's say the same
  666. 23:40people over and over or it's going to be
  667. 23:43even less than that so let's say only
  668. 23:44two people comment the word then was it
  669. 23:46really worth your time setting up the
  670. 23:47Automation and having to go through the
  671. 23:49whole process you know just to have a
  672. 23:51little trickle of traffic come in um so
  673. 23:53those are the two most important things
  674. 23:55above all else that I would kind of
  675. 23:57grade your uh profile and business bu
  676. 23:59right now to say hey is it worth my time
  677. 24:01or do I need to focus on the offer first
  678. 24:03or focus on making better content right
  679. 24:05now that's resonating with people who
  680. 24:07are seeing it and implicitly we also
  681. 24:10have to be operating on messenger
  682. 24:13Instagram or Whatsapp correct yes you
  683. 24:16didn't mention follower number you
  684. 24:18mentioned comment number uh do you see
  685. 24:20any correlation between comment number
  686. 24:21and follower number should we worry
  687. 24:22about the number of followers at all uh
  688. 24:25or is it purely if you're getting five
  689. 24:27comments no matter how many how many
  690. 24:28people are following you this can work
  691. 24:30for you typically the comments trumps
  692. 24:32any kind of follower count because there
  693. 24:34are countless accounts that we look at
  694. 24:36that have over a 100,000 followers or
  695. 24:38millions of followers and they're not
  696. 24:40even getting great amounts of comments
  697. 24:43um and their views are you know super
  698. 24:45down and it just depends on how people
  699. 24:47acquir that following but when it comes
  700. 24:49to just a general follower count size
  701. 24:52like if you're going to invest let's say
  702. 24:53more time into this and you say hey I
  703. 24:55really want to like ramp this up and
  704. 24:56build all these different things like
  705. 24:57maybe you do have a more complex
  706. 24:59business but your follower count is
  707. 25:01let's say relatively smaller typically
  708. 25:03the 10,000 follower Mark starts to be
  709. 25:05the place where we as a business can
  710. 25:08look at that business and say hey
  711. 25:11they're putting time and effort into
  712. 25:13building up their following and there
  713. 25:14are people who are resonating with the
  714. 25:16content um and they got to this 10K
  715. 25:19follower mark because they were
  716. 25:20consistent with the content creation
  717. 25:22process um unless somebody built and I
  718. 25:25know I'm kind of throwing out exceptions
  719. 25:26but the only exception I've seen to that
  720. 25:27is if somebody built their Following
  721. 25:29over like years and years and years and
  722. 25:31they're only at 10K right now versus hey
  723. 25:33over the last maybe 2 3 years uh I've
  724. 25:35built up this follower count to at least
  725. 25:3710K that means you're probably posting
  726. 25:39actively and you probably have a couple
  727. 25:41comments per post because I'm fairly new
  728. 25:43to Instagram I don't know all the games
  729. 25:46that are being played there yet but I do
  730. 25:48often see these profiles that have like
  731. 25:50hilariously High numbers of
  732. 25:52followers
  733. 25:54inexplicably and not to say like I just
  734. 25:57don't get their content I'm saying like
  735. 25:59they're not posting much content or the
  736. 26:01content they're posting there's no
  737. 26:03reason why it would be growth style
  738. 26:05content and there's no engagement so
  739. 26:06what's going on there how how are
  740. 26:08follower accounts inflated on Instagram
  741. 26:10yeah there are several ways that this
  742. 26:12happens the most common way is that
  743. 26:14people buy followers meaning that they
  744. 26:16are buying from these let's say bot
  745. 26:19farms in countries where places like
  746. 26:22India or China or Pakistan where there
  747. 26:24are these essentially Farms of phones
  748. 26:27where they will essentially amp up the
  749. 26:30amount of followers that you're getting
  750. 26:31and these accounts will have all sorts
  751. 26:32of random you know things and
  752. 26:34information on them um but they won't be
  753. 26:35actual people right it's just a bunch of
  754. 26:37fake accounts that are being created and
  755. 26:39so you can still pay nowadays even
  756. 26:41though these Services get shut down all
  757. 26:42the time by Instagram directly you can
  758. 26:45still pay for services like that and
  759. 26:46they will get you a certain amount of
  760. 26:48followers now the problem with that
  761. 26:50strategy is what you'll kind of notice
  762. 26:52is that if you look at these accounts on
  763. 26:54something like socialblade.com you'll
  764. 26:56notice they lose a lot of followers
  765. 26:58every day and then they gain just a
  766. 27:00little bit more so that that way they're
  767. 27:02always kind of growing um but the amount
  768. 27:04of followers they're losing and gaining
  769. 27:06like kind of equivalently uh are usually
  770. 27:08pretty enormous as people get into like
  771. 27:10the millions and millions of followers
  772. 27:12so that's the first way um and then I
  773. 27:14can speak to some of the others that are
  774. 27:16not maybe as unethical let's say or as
  775. 27:18uh I'm fascinating continue
  776. 27:20on cool so that's the first um the
  777. 27:24second which was really popular and
  778. 27:25nowadays not um not super effective Ive
  779. 27:28but are like engagement pods people are
  780. 27:30still a part of these things where it'll
  781. 27:32be a group of usually it's smaller but
  782. 27:34like more notable accounts uh like let's
  783. 27:36say 20 people or 30 people but sometimes
  784. 27:37it's hundreds of people in these groups
  785. 27:40uh wherever it could be in Discord it
  786. 27:42can be in telegram or other places where
  787. 27:43it's like hey anytime someone in this
  788. 27:45groups post something drop the link to
  789. 27:47the post and everyone's going to go
  790. 27:48engage with that thing and then the
  791. 27:50Third Way which is uh almost
  792. 27:52unintentional but it can happen and it
  793. 27:55becomes something that businesses just
  794. 27:57have to figure out what to do with is if
  795. 27:59you have run a lot of ads as a company
  796. 28:01you may have gained a lot of followers
  797. 28:03over the years because people tend to
  798. 28:05follow you if they liked your ad it's
  799. 28:07just a common behavior that happens is
  800. 28:09they click on the profile and they say
  801. 28:10cool whether I'm going to buy or not
  802. 28:12like I liked that I'm going to hit
  803. 28:13follow but then those people don't end
  804. 28:15up engaging with you that often or the
  805. 28:18profile just doesn't post that often
  806. 28:19because they're primarily relying on ads
  807. 28:21to grow the business and so as a result
  808. 28:23you get a lot of inactive followers who
  809. 28:25just are not going to see your stuff
  810. 28:27when you post because you just don't
  811. 28:28don't post often enough and then they're
  812. 28:29not engaging with it so then they're not
  813. 28:31seeing it in their feed those are kind
  814. 28:32of the three most common that I would
  815. 28:34say I see and there's plenty of other
  816. 28:35like offshoots of that my assumption is
  817. 28:39having an inflated follower count of
  818. 28:40people who aren't real or aren't engaged
  819. 28:44makes it difficult for your content to
  820. 28:47reach outside of your followers is that
  821. 28:50correct it is to a degree what's been
  822. 28:53interesting now um and Gary ve talked
  823. 28:55about this quite a bit in his newest
  824. 28:56book day trading attention which I love
  825. 28:58and highly recommend to any business
  826. 29:00owner Creator is that nowadays it's
  827. 29:03easier than ever to go viral like people
  828. 29:06have a pretty equivalent chance of going
  829. 29:08viral if they just use the right sound
  830. 29:11or just do something a little bit more
  831. 29:13unique you know that captures attention
  832. 29:15um and so what's been kind of
  833. 29:17interesting is I observe some of these
  834. 29:19accounts that you're talking about uh
  835. 29:21and I love the way you described it like
  836. 29:22a hilar hilariously High that's a tongue
  837. 29:25twister amount of followers with let's
  838. 29:28say subpar content um is that these
  839. 29:32accounts though could still potentially
  840. 29:34like have a big piece of content that
  841. 29:36absolutely goes viral and and crushes it
  842. 29:37but the likelihood is low uh but it's
  843. 29:40becoming higher because now Instagram at
  844. 29:42least as of right now because things are
  845. 29:44always changing is that um they now they
  846. 29:47used to show your content to a small
  847. 29:50number of your followers and based on
  848. 29:51how they interacted with it they would
  849. 29:53then push it out to more and then
  850. 29:54eventually your content would end up
  851. 29:56maybe on the explore page or get
  852. 29:58recommended to somebody in someone
  853. 29:59else's feed since they do a lot of like
  854. 30:01recommendations now kind of like YouTube
  855. 30:03shorts does as well uh but now what
  856. 30:05they've started to do is that they also
  857. 30:07show your content to a number of
  858. 30:09non-followers and depending on how those
  859. 30:11two groups engage with your content they
  860. 30:13then decide to push it out to more of
  861. 30:15your followers and or more non-followers
  862. 30:18and see if more people can you know see
  863. 30:20that content and see if they like it and
  864. 30:22so there are little tactics that you can
  865. 30:24use shouldn't say little because they
  866. 30:25can create big results but things like
  867. 30:27using a trending sound or doing a um
  868. 30:31like using one of their newest features
  869. 30:33that they drop because then they push
  870. 30:34more traffic to it using stuff like that
  871. 30:37can sometimes then make a post pop off
  872. 30:39for you even if you have historically
  873. 30:41posted subpar content and is that the
  874. 30:43goal like when when on Instagram should
  875. 30:46I be trying to pop off and get to New
  876. 30:50viewers versus not because I mean like
  877. 30:53implicitly you might think yeah more
  878. 30:55more eyeballs more Impressions more
  879. 30:57views definitely do that but on some
  880. 30:59platforms you know that would push you
  881. 31:01to make content that might be more broad
  882. 31:05than your actual audience and might not
  883. 31:08actually be useful so what's your take
  884. 31:10how how should I think about my approach
  885. 31:12to growth on Instagram yeah given that
  886. 31:15Instagram has become more and more
  887. 31:16competitive especially in the last 12
  888. 31:18months typically the rule of thumb that
  889. 31:20we follow is there are kind of three
  890. 31:23types of posts that we'll typically put
  891. 31:25out there the first type of post and I'm
  892. 31:27going to come back to this one kind of
  893. 31:28break it down of like how to think about
  894. 31:30this is a post that can reach the
  895. 31:32largest addressable audience possible
  896. 31:35this means that you want as many people
  897. 31:36as possible to see this piece of content
  898. 31:38and actually I'll explain it now because
  899. 31:40I think it'll just be more useful is
  900. 31:42what we do though is that once that hook
  901. 31:45or whatever you know goes out and it's
  902. 31:48viral people are enjoying it or just
  903. 31:49getting a lot of views you're right it's
  904. 31:51capturing eyeballs that you might not
  905. 31:53want necessarily engaging with you or
  906. 31:55going into your business but then what
  907. 31:57you can do later in that same piece of
  908. 31:59content is then you say hey if you are
  909. 32:02this Avatar or if you're looking to
  910. 32:04solve this problem then comment whatever
  911. 32:07and I'll you know share that with you um
  912. 32:09so that's the best way to kind of use
  913. 32:11something like that or even if you don't
  914. 32:12have a comment called to action what's
  915. 32:14cool about this is that these are the
  916. 32:15audience getting posts right these are
  917. 32:17meant to be shared with a larger
  918. 32:19audience be more relatable to the
  919. 32:21largest group of people so for example
  920. 32:23you just became a dad if you put out a
  921. 32:25post that is relatable to dads that's
  922. 32:27like one of the largest you know
  923. 32:29audiences on planet Earth like if you
  924. 32:31are a dad you might resonate with this
  925. 32:33thing that happens you know with
  926. 32:34newborns but what that would do for you
  927. 32:37is that then in either the actual post
  928. 32:40or the caption you could have a call to
  929. 32:41action or you could not but then all
  930. 32:43those people all those dads are going to
  931. 32:45be like this was really funny like what
  932. 32:46else does this guy do and so they go to
  933. 32:48your profile and then your profile acts
  934. 32:51as the filter then and they say hey I
  935. 32:53actually happen to be a dad who's also a
  936. 32:55content creator I really like this guy's
  937. 32:57content I'm going to hit follow or I'm
  938. 32:59going to engage with him I'm going to go
  939. 33:01and look at some of his other posts Mr
  940. 33:03Beast talks about this as well with
  941. 33:04YouTube channels right where it's like
  942. 33:05if I enjoyed the content I'm probably
  943. 33:07going to go and binge now some more
  944. 33:08videos from that same channel so in the
  945. 33:10same way now people go and quote unquote
  946. 33:12binge your other content because they
  947. 33:14want more of it uh and so now then you
  948. 33:18go into the second type of post which is
  949. 33:20something that is more specific for your
  950. 33:21target audience but doesn't speak to
  951. 33:23people as if they already know who you
  952. 33:25are and what you do you are being a
  953. 33:27little bit more like hey I am a Creator
  954. 33:31who does this or whatever but you're
  955. 33:32leaving it a little bit more open while
  956. 33:34not targeting the largest addressable
  957. 33:36Market it might be your target audience
  958. 33:38which might be dad content creators
  959. 33:40let's say which is one uh level smaller
  960. 33:42than just like all dads of the world um
  961. 33:45and so those posts then kind of same
  962. 33:47strategy where you can have a call to
  963. 33:49action in it or maybe it's just a
  964. 33:50relatable post and then they come to
  965. 33:51your profile they want to learn more and
  966. 33:53the third type of post then would be
  967. 33:55something that is really specific it's
  968. 33:57doing a product launch you know we were
  969. 33:59talking a little bit about this earlier
  970. 34:00you mentioned hey I might email my list
  971. 34:02some offers so let's say you're in the
  972. 34:04middle of a big promo and you say hey
  973. 34:06I'd love to make a couple social posts
  974. 34:08about this so in the post you might then
  975. 34:11get pretty specific and say heyy my
  976. 34:13coaching program or my course or my paid
  977. 34:15newsletter or whatever is coming out um
  978. 34:17if you want to get access to it you know
  979. 34:18I've spent so much time putting this
  980. 34:19together and you actually tell the story
  981. 34:22Something Like An Origin story or
  982. 34:24something that would be interesting
  983. 34:25maybe to people who don't know you yet
  984. 34:27but but it's still pretty specific so
  985. 34:29most of the time the people who are
  986. 34:30going to see and engage with that
  987. 34:32content do know you and that is your
  988. 34:34like let's say bottom of the funnel
  989. 34:36style content where then that would get
  990. 34:38people to go and buy or go and take
  991. 34:40action on your thing even more so but
  992. 34:43those are people now who have gotten to
  993. 34:44know you and they have consumed multiple
  994. 34:46pieces of your content so if you want to
  995. 34:48think about as like top of funnel middle
  996. 34:50of funnel bottom of funnel we just
  997. 34:52rotate through those so every third post
  998. 34:54is that more top of funnel largest
  999. 34:56addressable Market every second post
1000. 34:58that we post is going to be that kind of
1001. 34:59middle of funnel and then every third
1002. 35:01post we put out is going to be that
1003. 35:03bottom of funnel like very targeted and
1004. 35:05specific call to action this is really
1005. 35:07smart I mean it Maps very directly to a
  1006. 35:09framework I've I've been taught about
1007. 35:11YouTube from Patty Galloway his core
  1008. 35:12casual new framework but I hadn't
1009. 35:14thought in terms of Instagram and
1010. 35:17basically any other short form platform
1011. 35:19I hadn't thought through the lens of
1012. 35:22broad interest in the content itself
1013. 35:25filtered through specific call to or
  1014. 35:28filtered through specific
  1015. 35:30profile uh that's that's kind of an
  1016. 35:33unlock for me I like that amazing I'm
1017. 35:35happy to hear that okay so I want to go
1018. 35:38back now to this example you gave at the
1019. 35:40very beginning of the episode with Tori
1020. 35:42and these huge results you shared of
1021. 35:44she's grown her account over a million
  1022. 35:47she's had $700,000 in business driven
1023. 35:50from this help me bridge the gap between
1024. 35:54some of the beginning strategies showed
1025. 35:55us here and what she's doing how can we
1026. 35:57visualize what this looks like at that
1027. 35:59level so we can start to understand what
1028. 36:01it would take for us to get there in
1029. 36:04terms of the larger strategy so we've
1030. 36:06talked a little bit about some content
1031. 36:07Frameworks here which are an important
1032. 36:09place to start because one of the
  1033. 36:12biggest mistakes that I see content
1034. 36:13creators and business owners make on
1035. 36:15Instagram is that they try to promote
1036. 36:16too many things every single week and it
1037. 36:19is such a condensed timeline to where
1038. 36:22it'd kind of be like if I sent you an
  1039. 36:23email and I had like 10 different call
1040. 36:25to actions and they're all over the
1041. 36:26place for different people maybe or just
1042. 36:29like different solutions uh and people
1043. 36:31tend to do this a lot where and it might
1044. 36:32just be because they just don't think
  1045. 36:34about it and they're like well I'm just
1046. 36:35going through my day and I'm going to
1047. 36:36post like my athletic greens link my uh
1048. 36:40you know interior design some furniture
1049. 36:43link affiliate link and my online course
1050. 36:45and my lead magnet and my new podcast
1051. 36:47episode I'm going to put all that on my
1052. 36:48stories today it just you know happens
1053. 36:51by the end of the day and then they tend
1054. 36:53to also approach their content in that
1055. 36:55way where in a given week you might have
1056. 36:56a post with a call to action to a new
1057. 36:59podcast episode uh all those affiliate
  1058. 37:01links I just mentioned are brand
1059. 37:02sponsors plus maybe you've got your own
  1060. 37:04stuff you're like oh wait I didn't
1061. 37:05promote my own thing this week I've got
1062. 37:07to make sure I promoted my newsletter
1063. 37:09and my webinar and my course so by the
1064. 37:12time you get to the end of each week
  1065. 37:13there's so many things that you're
1066. 37:15throwing at your audience and people
  1067. 37:17already have a million options right
1068. 37:19like we are just bombarded with options
1069. 37:21every single day through ads through
1070. 37:22different creators through the content
1071. 37:24we consume friends referring products to
1072. 37:27us and so the best thing you can do for
1073. 37:29your business and for your audience is
1074. 37:32start to simplify to amplify by focusing
1075. 37:36on One Core thing each week if possible
1076. 37:39um and so with Tori what we did is that
1077. 37:42she yes might have these promo periods
1078. 37:44during the year where there's like two
1079. 37:46weeks that we really focus let's say on
1080. 37:48like one product to sell but most of the
1081. 37:50time we can alternate through each week
1082. 37:53a specific offer that we're focused on
  1083. 37:56and so over time
1084. 37:57we have now I want to say something like
1085. 38:0030 different funnels that are running in
1086. 38:03the DMS uh kind of like the one that we
  1087. 38:06walked through earlier where there's
  1088. 38:07these multiple steps we're collecting
  1089. 38:09names emails and then we're leading
1090. 38:11people to whatever next step is going to
1091. 38:13be for them so there is a collection of
1092. 38:17free webinar registrations uh those
1093. 38:19types of funnels there are uh a number
1094. 38:22of like freebies that people can
1095. 38:24download and just view right then and
1096. 38:26there there are a number of um affiliate
  1097. 38:29and brand partnership ones which I
  1098. 38:32actually want to show because it's a
1099. 38:33little bit different from what I showed
1100. 38:35you guys earlier so this is an example
1101. 38:38of how somebody can see a post where she
1102. 38:41is she's in the finance base for those
1103. 38:42of you who might not be familiar with
1104. 38:43her first 100K and in this post she is
  1105. 38:46promoting a high yield savings account
1106. 38:48and this is one of the best performing
  1107. 38:50campaigns that she has we've collected I
  1108. 38:52think almost over 130,000 emails just
1109. 38:55from this campaign alone so this has
1110. 38:57been been highly successful and
  1111. 38:59typically when you promote a brand
1112. 39:00partnership or sponsorship you tell
1113. 39:02people to go to your link and that's
1114. 39:04that you don't really benefit until that
1115. 39:06person buys or does something with that
1116. 39:07link and then you get paid by the brand
  1117. 39:09either per person or maybe it's just a
1118. 39:11flat rate to promote for a given period
1119. 39:13of time with this what we're doing is
  1120. 39:15we're able to collect people's emails
1121. 39:18which happens after they initially opt
1122. 39:20in we then have a little conversation
  1123. 39:21with them we're giving positive
1124. 39:23affirmation as to like hey this is
  1125. 39:25really like my best recommendation I
1126. 39:27trust this company to essentially be the
1127. 39:29high yield savings account that you pick
1128. 39:32and then at the end we take people to
1129. 39:33the affiliate link or the brand sponsor
1130. 39:36link so we get a two for one here one
1131. 39:39these people are interested in high
1132. 39:40yield savings accounts which probably
  1133. 39:42means they're interested in the other
1134. 39:43things that Tori supports with because
1135. 39:45it's all around you know building your P
1136. 39:46personal financial system and so we add
1137. 39:48those people to our email list which we
1138. 39:50could also follow up with later and be
1139. 39:51like hey did you get a chance to sign up
1140. 39:53for your savings account if not what are
  1141. 39:55you doing like here's the link that's
  1142. 39:57one way and it's also um I have a friend
  1143. 40:00as well who and I don't know if he's
  1144. 40:02still doing this maybe I won't name him
1145. 40:03by name now but uh what we talked about
  1146. 40:06a couple months ago he's a big content
1147. 40:08creator as well in the um like resume
1148. 40:10and interviews space and he was he had
1149. 40:15different upsells of his brand partner
1150. 40:17packages based on whether he would run a
1151. 40:19funnel like this with them or not and
1152. 40:21he'd say hey I'm going to collect emails
  1153. 40:23and I'm going to send them follow-up so
1154. 40:24if you want that extra juice then it's
1155. 40:26going to be this tier of my you know
  1156. 40:28partnership offer that's delicious so
1157. 40:31it's something interesting it also adds
1158. 40:32some motivation for you as the Creator
1159. 40:34if this is something you want to test
1160. 40:36where you say hey I'm not going to put
1161. 40:37the extra effort into this unless I get
1162. 40:39paid more um but if you do have your own
1163. 40:41products then it's totally worth it to
1164. 40:43collect those emails and then of course
1165. 40:45you then get the double dip of okay now
1166. 40:46all these people are going to go and
1167. 40:48take action and the one thing you don't
1168. 40:49see here is that in between each of
  1169. 40:52these steps if let's say I was the
1170. 40:53person going through this and got super
1171. 40:55busy like someone calls me in the middle
1172. 40:57of this conversation and now I jump off
1173. 40:59Instagram I forget about it we have
1174. 41:01follow-ups at each point where they are
1175. 41:03thoughtful gifts or funny gifts um voice
1176. 41:06notes selfie videos we're like hey if
1177. 41:08you still want this like make sure that
1178. 41:10you you know take action on this so
  1179. 41:12there are some thoughtful follow-ups
1180. 41:13that happen if somebody drops off and
1181. 41:15then also at the end we can follow up
1182. 41:17too with them maybe a couple hours later
1183. 41:19or a day later and just say hey did you
1184. 41:21get a chance to do it right so these are
1185. 41:23some creative ways that you can use
1186. 41:25campaigns like this and this is one of
1187. 41:28those types of funnels that we ran that
1188. 41:29wasn't just for her own products wild so
1189. 41:33do you find that the folks you work with
1190. 41:36are the people that are doing this the
1191. 41:38best does this automation end in uh like
1192. 41:42a product pitch within Instagram or is a
  1193. 41:45lot of
1194. 41:47the final like transaction pitches
  1195. 41:50happening in email yeah it's a mix and
1196. 41:53we try to do both if we can because
1197. 41:55you're going to have people in different
1198. 41:57phases of their buying Journey there
1199. 41:59might be somebody who for example with
1200. 42:01Tori she puts out a lot of content
1201. 42:03typically two posts at least a day and
1202. 42:06there are people who are going to
  1203. 42:07consume let's say 10 posts at some point
1204. 42:10and say hey I would love to go deeper
1205. 42:12like she keeps talking about budgeting
  1206. 42:13and like I just don't have a budget like
1207. 42:15does she can she help me with this and
1208. 42:17then the next post ISS hey if you want
1209. 42:18to get my budget template you know
1210. 42:19comment budget for example um and so
1211. 42:22those types of situations where somebody
1212. 42:25is a little more hot and ready to buy
1213. 42:26and take action they might be the ones
1214. 42:28who buy immediately and you may get some
1215. 42:31people who either you know got busy
1216. 42:33jumped out of the DMS forgot about it
  1217. 42:34maybe get a followup a few days later
1218. 42:36they buy via DMS or they may need just a
1219. 42:39little bit more um relationship building
1220. 42:41or more proof maybe or they just weren't
1221. 42:44ready yet and they're like oh this is
1222. 42:46great but you know what I'm like super
1223. 42:47strapped for cash right now I'm going to
  1224. 42:49hold off maybe next month I'll I'll try
1225. 42:51to invest in something like this and
1226. 42:52then those people you might end up
1227. 42:54converting via email because you want to
  1228. 42:56make sure you're also sending emails
1229. 42:58ideally uh with an email sequence or
1230. 43:00your weekly emails right and eventually
1231. 43:03they decide that either they want to buy
1232. 43:05the original product or better yet let's
  1233. 43:07say that person's like hey actually I
1234. 43:09ended up figuring out my budgeting over
1235. 43:11the weekend my boyfriend helped me like
1236. 43:12I feel really good about that but you
1237. 43:14know what I still really need is a high
1238. 43:15yield savings account and then maybe you
1239. 43:17get an email about the high yield
1240. 43:19savings account you go oh awesome I'm
1241. 43:21going to go do that so it's an
1242. 43:23opportunity to either pivot the offer
1243. 43:25that's being offered or upsell people to
1244. 43:28just take more action with your products
1245. 43:30or with brand sponsorships I really like
1246. 43:32what you said about simplify to amplify
1247. 43:34because I'm finding that an email right
1248. 43:36now to your point of too many calls to
1249. 43:38action is actually fewer clicks like the
1250. 43:40way to optimize click clicks is to
1251. 43:43reduce the options of what to click on
1252. 43:46uh it sounds like you're saying that is
1253. 43:47also true in uh social yes absolutely in
  1254. 43:52so many different ways it's it's
1255. 43:54literally present in every single aspect
1256. 43:57of social from like the link in your bio
1257. 43:59which is not completely gone with this
1258. 44:02like you do still want to have that
  1259. 44:03there but it's just you're not going to
1260. 44:04get the most people engaging with that
1261. 44:06you're going to get more people engaging
1262. 44:08if you tell them to comment on your
1263. 44:10posts and uh reply to your stories and
1264. 44:12that kind of thing but then it's also
1265. 44:14even simplify to amplify with not just
1266. 44:17what you're promoting per week which is
1267. 44:18like the bigger decision and if you do
1268. 44:20that you are going to see better results
1269. 44:22just right off the bat I've just never
1270. 44:23not seen it not work U but then also in
  1271. 44:26the post it's s like really making it
1272. 44:28clear hey what is this thing um that I'm
1273. 44:31going to get or what is the like purpose
1274. 44:33of this post what am I supposed to like
1275. 44:35get from what you're telling me or
1276. 44:37teaching me here in this piece of
1277. 44:38content all the way to how do you bridge
1278. 44:41the gap of oh I taught you you know five
1279. 44:43simple exercises you can do from home
1280. 44:45without any body or with body weight to
1281. 44:48okay I now want to be in your coaching
1282. 44:50program it's like okay how do you make
  1283. 44:52sure you're bridging that Gap and
1284. 44:53telling people what the outcome is then
1285. 44:55of that coaching program since you just
1286. 44:58gave me this in this post um so it very
1287. 45:00much is about that like making sure one
1288. 45:02call to action same call to action like
1289. 45:05you know all those things it's it sounds
  1290. 45:06simple and it's tough too when you're
1291. 45:08like you don't have the muscle memory to
1292. 45:10go through it right if I like ask you to
1293. 45:11record a podcast and then upload the
  1294. 45:14podcast and put everything together it's
1295. 45:15kind of muscle memory for you you've
1296. 45:17done it so many times but if I ask you
1297. 45:19to go and create you know a type of
  1298. 45:22video maybe that you've never done
  1299. 45:23before it's like you just don't know
  1300. 45:26what you don't know know you're in that
1301. 45:27unconscious incompetence phase and so um
1302. 45:30the more that I can just harp on that
1303. 45:32message for everyone here I think just
1304. 45:33the more you're going to get out of your
  1305. 45:34Instagram whether you're like an
  1306. 45:36Instagram God or you're like hey I'm
1307. 45:39getting back into the game or kind of
1308. 45:40starting it up just keeping things
1309. 45:42really simple one call to action one
1310. 45:44offer like where you can will help a lot
1311. 45:46I want to recap some of the use cases
1312. 45:48you've shared here we had freebies lead
  1313. 45:50magnets you mentioned that we've talked
  1314. 45:52about sponsors we've talked about
  1315. 45:55Affiliates we've talked about our own
1316. 45:57products what major use cases are we
  1317. 46:00missing here for automation I'll list
1318. 46:03out a couple um that come to mind and
1319. 46:05then nearly anything that you can
1320. 46:08Envision that you would want to have
  1321. 46:10happen in a conversation or a landing
1322. 46:12page experience you can do inside of the
1323. 46:14DMS as well there are experiential use
1324. 46:17cases I'll kind of just start there as
1325. 46:18like a quick random one for example with
1326. 46:21Nike football which for us Americans
  1327. 46:23technically that's their soccer account
1328. 46:25and uh we we support reported and
1329. 46:27consulted them in an experience I think
1330. 46:29it was last summer where or maybe two
1331. 46:31summers ago now where um it was all
1332. 46:34around this like daily challenge kind of
1333. 46:37thing with their audience and none of it
1334. 46:39was leading to like a sale essentially
1335. 46:41or a conversion point it was all about
  1336. 46:42the experience that we're giving with
  1337. 46:44these super customized incredible
1338. 46:46highdef videos um and it was all around
1339. 46:49essentially like one of their specific
1340. 46:51athletes um whose name I'm going to
1341. 46:53mispronounce so I'm not even going to
1342. 46:54try but it's like one of the largest
1343. 46:55soccer players in the world
1344. 46:57most wellknown um and so that's one
1345. 47:00example that like probably no one here
  1346. 47:02will use unless you're a Fortune 500
1347. 47:04company or Fortune 100 but that is one
1348. 47:07of the use cases the others that are
1349. 47:08more practical for us are things like
1350. 47:10you said free download um or lead magnet
1351. 47:13you know a free video is also one you
1352. 47:15don't have to go and create a fancy PDF
1353. 47:17you could just film a selfie video going
1354. 47:18deeper into a concept you talk about in
1355. 47:20a post and then have that be the thing
1356. 47:23that you give um free webinars we talked
1357. 47:25about or Master Class is whatever name
1358. 47:27people like to use weight lists are a
1359. 47:30really big one that we did not talk
1360. 47:31about yet um then we have things like if
  1361. 47:34anyone is writing a book and launching a
1362. 47:36book uh or you already have a book and
1363. 47:38you want to promote it we have things
1364. 47:40like applications for high ticket
1365. 47:42coaching programs or masterminds or
1366. 47:43memberships um direct purchases we
1367. 47:45talked about a little bit things like
1368. 47:47discount codes if you run an e-commerce
1369. 47:49store or a merch store as well and then
1370. 47:51we talked about affiliate and brand
1371. 47:52sponsors um giveaways are a huge one as
1372. 47:55well especially thinking about the
  1373. 47:57holidays that's just such a great time
1374. 47:58to do a giveaway or really around
1375. 48:00anything that you want to um but doing
1376. 48:02one or two of those a year can be just
1377. 48:03such a great boost uh in leads for your
1378. 48:06business and the last thing that I'll
1379. 48:07mention that is not necessarily its own
1380. 48:09use case but is actually combining
  1381. 48:11multiple use cases is because we're in a
1382. 48:13conversational medium the fun and really
1383. 48:16powerful thing that you can do is give
1384. 48:18people what one of my clients Jenna
1385. 48:20cutcher likes to say as like invitations
1386. 48:23which means that initially when someone
1387. 48:25comments on your posts you are inviting
1388. 48:26them to your free webinar your free lead
1389. 48:28magnet your purchase your newsletter
1390. 48:30whatever once they get into the DMS and
1391. 48:32they've given you their name and their
1392. 48:34email then now we might have the
1393. 48:35opportunity to invite them to something
1394. 48:37else so we can say hey I've emailed over
1395. 48:40your free guide and I'm really excited
1396. 48:42for you to dive into it but super quick
1397. 48:44while you're here um are you looking for
1398. 48:47more help with XYZ and someone says yeah
1399. 48:50I actually am like the guide sounded
1400. 48:52great but really like here's my deepest
1401. 48:53struggle with this right now and we have
1402. 48:55multiple choice questions and we can do
1403. 48:57there so it's super easy and then from
1404. 48:59there we can then say cool well actually
1405. 49:01I have and then maybe they opted in for
1406. 49:03a free guide now you're inviting them to
1407. 49:05the free webinar and you can kind of
1408. 49:07double dip there where you can get
  1409. 49:09typically 50 to 80% of people to also
1410. 49:13take you up on your second offer and so
1411. 49:15now you have generated a lead and taken
1412. 49:17them deeper than it probably than they
1413. 49:20probably would have gone for at least a
1414. 49:22couple days or maybe even a couple
  1415. 49:23months because they wouldn't have seen
1416. 49:25that second offer for a while and
1417. 49:26instead you just get them right into it
1418. 49:28right away um and that can also work for
  1419. 49:30paid offers too another unlock you've
1420. 49:32given here for me Natasha is that first
1421. 49:35slide you showed of like those nine
1422. 49:36different triggers that could happen
  1423. 49:38when I think about Instagram and it's
1424. 49:40one of the smaller platforms for me and
1425. 49:42I get locked up because I think that I
1426. 49:43have to produce these like amazing reels
1427. 49:47and I get really excited about this type
  1428. 49:49of thing because I'm a very
1429. 49:52conversational uh writing based kind of
1430. 49:55person what it seems like I can do here
1431. 49:57is make better use of my stories to the
1432. 49:59people that are already there and say
1433. 50:01hey I like hearing from you even though
1434. 50:03like I heard from you First on YouTube I
1435. 50:05am also active on Instagram so now I'm
1436. 50:07following you on Instagram Jay yes it
1437. 50:08seems like I can make a lot better use
1438. 50:10of my stories and then use this on the
1439. 50:13back end of that to move people through
1440. 50:17a conversation or through a journey yeah
1441. 50:20absolutely so that you don't have to
1442. 50:21worry about the production you know no
1443. 50:23matter how simple or how uh you know
1444. 50:26High production or high definition you
1445. 50:28want to make your reals and this goes
1446. 50:30for everyone here right there is some
  1447. 50:31level of production that's involved in
1448. 50:33decision-making versus just throwing up
1449. 50:34a quick story of uh a selfie video of
1450. 50:37you talking or even just an image and
1451. 50:39being able to say hey if you want to get
1452. 50:41first access to my next upcoming
1453. 50:44episodes then reply back with this word
1454. 50:46and I'll get you on to my email list to
1455. 50:48do that for one of many examples that I
1456. 50:51think you could use well and the cool
1457. 50:53thing about stories as well is like
1458. 50:54they're so used on Instagram that
1459. 50:57Instagram's always coming up with new
1460. 50:58ways to get people more people to see
1461. 51:01your stories and when they come out with
1462. 51:03these features that for the most part
  1463. 51:05are usually what's called an Instagram
1464. 51:06sticker which is once you um you know
1465. 51:09clip or grab or record or whatever your
  1466. 51:11story you'll see a little icon like in
1467. 51:13the top right corner kind of looks like
  1468. 51:15a Post-It note and that's where you can
1469. 51:16click into your stickers for example
1470. 51:19adding your location to your story as a
1471. 51:20sticker So within the sticker options
1472. 51:22they're always launching new things
1473. 51:24there or trying to get more people to
1474. 51:26use the stickers that are there
1475. 51:28particularly two that recently came out
1476. 51:31um that are still going to to work for a
1477. 51:33long long time my opinion is the add
1478. 51:36yours and the reveal so those two
1479. 51:39Instagram is pushing a lot of traffic to
1480. 51:41so the kind of ninja tactic here is that
1481. 51:45you can put up a story with one of those
1482. 51:47stickers and the story doesn't need to
1483. 51:49have a called action or anything in it
  1484. 51:50yet just a story that's using one of
1485. 51:53those stickers and then your next story
1486. 51:55can have your call to action so then
1487. 51:57what happens is Instagram pushes a ton
1488. 51:59of people to that first story and then
1489. 52:02people are already in your stories
1490. 52:03they're like well what else is going on
1491. 52:04in Jay's life today and then they go to
1492. 52:06the next story and see the call to
1493. 52:07action and then they opt into your thing
1494. 52:09I did not know Instagram will give
1495. 52:13preference to stories that are using
1496. 52:15features that Instagram is pushing oh
  1497. 52:18man name of the
1498. 52:19game so it's always good to do that
1499. 52:22anytime you you know my recommendation
1500. 52:25to anybody who is wanting to to create
1501. 52:26more on Instagram is to follow the
1502. 52:28creators account and moseri who is the
1503. 52:31head of Instagram because both of the
1504. 52:34accounts they tend to post kind of the
1505. 52:35same announcements at the same time but
1506. 52:37sometimes one before the other they will
1507. 52:39always share hey this is a new thing or
  1508. 52:41they just coincidentally as we're
1509. 52:44recording this um the other day or
1510. 52:46yesterday I saw that they put up more
1511. 52:48posts about here's how to use the ad
1512. 52:50yours how to use the reveal so they're
1513. 52:52constantly pushing these things anytime
1514. 52:54you see them mention a specific feature
1515. 52:56in their posts know that they are
1516. 52:58probably uh making preference to those
1517. 53:01types of stories or those types of posts
1518. 53:04and try it out and see if you get more
1519. 53:06reach essentially you mentioned High
1520. 53:08ticket coaching programs as one of the
1521. 53:10use cases here have you seen a threshold
1522. 53:14of how high a price point can be before
1523. 53:17this stops being effective the highest
  1524. 53:19price point we've sold automatically
1525. 53:21with no human involvement has been
  1526. 53:23$100,000 and it was a business
1527. 53:25Mastermind so I have not seen this work
1528. 53:29not work I should say for any price
1529. 53:30point um below that let's say wow and it
1530. 53:34depends on your audience too right if
1531. 53:35you have a very curated audience you
1532. 53:37don't need to have the largest audience
1533. 53:39but as long as you follow some of those
1534. 53:41Frameworks that I've shared so far and
1535. 53:42are putting out content that just
1536. 53:44resonates with people um then the
1537. 53:46automation possibilities of what it can
1538. 53:48do for your business are are pretty
1539. 53:50Limitless okay last last question to tie
  1540. 53:52all this together I listen to this I'm
  1541. 53:54interested it seems like a lot
1542. 53:57what is the first best step I can take
1543. 54:00here to dip my toes into conversational
1544. 54:03marketing so two things um that I've
  1545. 54:06actually put together and I wasn't
1546. 54:07planning to share this one but I do want
  1547. 54:09to give this to everybody who's
1548. 54:11listening so if you have not already set
1549. 54:13up many chat for example or maybe you
1550. 54:16just haven't used it in a long time like
1551. 54:17you said you know knocking the dust off
1552. 54:19of it um then you want to make sure that
1553. 54:21everything's set up properly before you
1554. 54:23go and run the automation I get lots of
1555. 54:25DMS where people are like hey it's not
  1556. 54:27working the way I wanted it to what's
1557. 54:28going on and I'm like well did you
1558. 54:29adjust this setting they're like no darn
1559. 54:31it so um just to save you all the
1560. 54:33headache and the stress of that um two
1561. 54:35things if you want to go to Instagram
1562. 54:39and search my handle which is Natasha T
1563. 54:41Willis click the message button on my
1564. 54:43profile and message me the word J just j
1565. 54:46a y um I will give you my internal sop
1566. 54:50there is no opt-in or anything required
  1567. 54:52um I won't collect your email but I will
1568. 54:53show you you know a simple and effective
1569. 54:55automation that you can kind of check
1570. 54:57out for yourself um I'll give you the
1571. 54:59link to my sop to set everything up even
1572. 55:02if you already have many chat set up
1573. 55:03technically you can just make sure to
  1574. 55:05run through the steps it'll take like 5
1575. 55:0710 minutes so that everything will
1576. 55:09operate the way that you wanted it to um
1577. 55:11from the get-go and then that sop also
1578. 55:13happens to tell you how to set up that
1579. 55:15first automation that just like delivers
1580. 55:16a link um so either way people can use
1581. 55:19that and kind of get set up with
1582. 55:20everything um the other thing that I did
1583. 55:23actually plan to give to everybody here
1584. 55:25and again no opt-in required um when you
1585. 55:28message me Jay I will also give you a
1586. 55:31resource that I think is going to be
1587. 55:32incredibly useful to everyone and kind
1588. 55:34of crystallizes what we talked about for
  1589. 55:36her first 100K earlier of like here's
1590. 55:38all the things going on for this
  1591. 55:39business spent 20 hours putting this
  1592. 55:41thing together um and it's an in-depth
1593. 55:44behind the-scenes breakdown of one of my
  1594. 55:46client systems who's a friend actually
1595. 55:48of one her her first 100K um who has
  1596. 55:50added $2 million in additional Revenue
1597. 55:53with this over 100,000 new emails to her
1598. 55:55list and then her in instram engagement
  1599. 55:56also grew by 10x so what I did was I put
1600. 55:59together every type of DM funnel that
1601. 56:01we've created and its results so that
1602. 56:04that way you can see okay if I have a
1603. 56:06webinar or a freebie or whatever like
1604. 56:08here's kind of what that funnel looks
1605. 56:09like and what types of results are
  1606. 56:11possible as a benchmark um so I'll give
1607. 56:13you both of those downloads if you want
1608. 56:14to just message me Jay it'll be there
1609. 56:16for you and then from there you can DM
1610. 56:18me any questions you have as you get
1611. 56:19started with that stuff so I hope
1612. 56:20that'll be helpful before you start
1613. 56:22setting up any automations you need to
1614. 56:24learn how to structure your offers check
1615. 56:26out this video where I help my friend
1616. 56:27Justin Moore design his product strategy
1617. 56:30we get so specific it's the perfect
1618. 56:32companion to what you just watched
