  1. 0:00Hi, my name is Christian Garcia.
  2. 0:02>> Hi, I'm Jen Garcia.
  3. 0:04>> Hi, I'm Camila Garcia.
  4. 0:07>> I'm
  5. 0:08I'm Mateo Garcia.
  6. 0:10>> Good job.
  7. 0:12>> [music]
  8. 0:15>> You know, people think that just because
  9. 0:17they're little, they can't live a a
  10. 0:19normal {quote unquote} life like we can.
  11. 0:22>> Now, when people see
  12. 0:24a family like us living with dwarfism,
  13. 0:27they see that we are {quote unquote}
  14. 0:29normal people. We live
  15. 0:32a full life. We have wives, [music] we
  16. 0:34have kids, we have jobs, we're
  17. 0:35entrepreneurs, and we're just changing
  18. 0:38the world [music] one day at a time, so.
  19. 0:40You get it right here.
  20. 0:41It goes all over there. You got to do a
  21. 0:43whole line, okay?
  22. 0:44>> When I met [music] Christian, I mean, I
  23. 0:46didn't know anything about dwarfism. And
  24. 0:48we started a conversation. At that
  25. 0:50moment, I didn't see him as a little
  26. 0:54person or as someone who's different or
  27. 0:56shorter. And the conversation was just
  28. 0:58[music] so smooth, so natural, not
  29. 1:01forced. And it sparked something because
  30. 1:05here we are, 13 years later.
  31. 1:10>> What's your favorite type of videos that
  32. 1:11we do?
  33. 1:12>> When we tell the the camera to like come
  34. 1:15with us to get eggs and feed the dogs
  35. 1:19and the chickens.
  36. 1:21>> We started creating videos online for
  37. 1:23fun,
  38. 1:25but it turned into something way greater
  39. 1:26than that. And we we love what it's
  40. 1:28doing. It's representing the community
  41. 1:31in a more positive way.
  42. 1:33>> Well, when we first started, it was more
  43. 1:35like trends. At that time, it was more
  44. 1:37like dancing videos and kind of, you
  45. 1:40know, like they have like the voices and
  46. 1:43you kind [music] of just do like funny
  47. 1:44videos. I started sharing with Camila
  48. 1:46and therapy,
  49. 1:49her milestones.
  50. 1:51And then, you know, I was pregnant with
  51. 1:53Mateo, shared my pregnancy journey.
  52. 1:57So, we were trying to do like a lot of
  53. 1:59dwarfism [music] awareness type of
  54. 2:01videos and, you know, showing people
  55. 2:03that just because they're shorter than
  56. 2:06your average doesn't mean they can't
  57. 2:08have a full, healthy life.
  58. 2:10>> We're just trying to touch everyone's
  59. 2:12heart and share our story.
  60. 2:29>> [music]
  61. 2:31>> So, what achondroplasia is to others is
  62. 2:34that it's a type of dwarfism. There's
  63. 2:35many different types of dwarfisms, but
  64. 2:38ours is the most common. Majority of
  65. 2:40people with achondroplasia come from
  66. 2:42average height parents. So, like my
  67. 2:44parents, they are average [music]
  68. 2:45height. And it's pretty much just
  69. 2:47shorter limbs of the arms and the legs
  70. 2:49and
  71. 2:50everything else [music] is pretty
  72. 2:51average.
  73. 2:53How do you explain achondroplasia to
  74. 2:55somebody else?
  75. 2:57>> Um I'll say that it's [music] a type of
  76. 3:00dwarfism and we should respect it and
  77. 3:03care for others [music] even though
  78. 3:06they're
  79. 3:07they're shorter
  80. 3:08and it doesn't
  81. 3:10depend on their height.
  82. 3:12>> [music]
  83. 3:17[music]
  84. 3:19>> Give people chances because
  85. 3:23just by the way they look doesn't define
  86. 3:24their work ethic, doesn't define the way
  87. 3:26they move, doesn't define what they're
  88. 3:28capable of doing. As long as you have a
  89. 3:30good heart and you're a dream [music]
  90. 3:32chaser and you got dreams and you never
  91. 3:34stop, you'll be all right.
  92. 3:42>> [music]
  93. 4:11>> Mhm.
