  1. 0:00and who would this be directed to would
  2. 0:02you like to come up if I could ask Mr
  3. 0:04Walsh Mr Walsh if you would mind uh
  4. 0:11Matt thank you for being here you're
  5. 0:13recognized
  6. 0:14just a quick question for you we've
  7. 0:16heard in the news last week
  8. 0:18and even today that
  9. 0:22it's pro-life to vote against this bill
  10. 0:26we've heard that um
  11. 0:29suicides are prevalent
  12. 0:31and suicide has impacted my family so
  13. 0:34I'm sensitive when I hear something like
  14. 0:36that
  15. 0:37I I I've read some of the stuff that
  16. 0:40you've done and I was wondering can you
  17. 0:42speak to the statistics
  18. 0:44of of
  19. 0:46Mental Health
  20. 0:48and Suicidal Tendencies
  21. 0:51for the people who have gone through
  22. 0:52transition for people who have not in
  23. 0:55your studies from what I've read can you
  24. 0:56can you speak to that that's true
  25. 0:58recognized sure uh well the claim that
  26. 1:01uh you know doing the chemical
  27. 1:03castration drugs or surgery or hormonal
  28. 1:05intervention the claim that this
  29. 1:06prevents suicide or has a positive
  30. 1:10psychological effects down the line is
  31. 1:12utterly totally baseless there are no
  32. 1:15credible long-term studies that bear
  33. 1:17that out and one of the reasons for that
  34. 1:19is that there couldn't possibly be any
  35. 1:21credible long-term studies because we've
  36. 1:22never done this to kids on this scale
  37. 1:24ever before in history so this current
  38. 1:27uh shall we say crop of children they
  39. 1:30are the guinea pigs this is this is all
  40. 1:31experimental we're sort of trying it out
  41. 1:33on them to see if it works now they have
  42. 1:36attempted a few times to do studies and
  43. 1:37the interesting thing is that the world
  44. 1:39Professional Association of transgender
  45. 1:40Health wpath which is a radical far left
  46. 1:43pro-trans organization they commissioned
  47. 1:45a study to try to prove that um that
  48. 1:49hormones and puberty blockers decrease
  49. 1:51suicide rates among
  50. 1:54trans-identified Youth and even in their
  51. 1:56own study they found that they couldn't
  52. 1:57they couldn't they couldn't prove it
  53. 1:58they couldn't make them link because
  54. 1:59it's just not possible to do the other
  55. 2:01thing I'd mention too is that
  56. 2:03you know the the
  57. 2:06number of trans identified youth has
  58. 2:08skyrocketed in recent years talking
  59. 2:10about exponential 10x 20x growth just
  60. 2:13huge numbers having of a have increased
  61. 2:17and what we hear from the pro-trans side
  62. 2:19is that well this is not a social
  63. 2:20contagion it's just that you know
  64. 2:22there's always been this many trans
  65. 2:23people it's just that they were not in
  66. 2:25an affirming
  67. 2:26uh environment before in history and so
  68. 2:28they couldn't come out and now for the
  69. 2:29first time trans people have have the
  70. 2:31ability to live their truth so to speak
  71. 2:33well if that's the case and there have
  72. 2:36always been these sort of like millions
  73. 2:38of trans people and if it's also true
  74. 2:40that if we don't affirm them that it
  75. 2:42would cause them to commit suicide then
  76. 2:44we should be able to look back in
  77. 2:45history and find just this unbroken
  78. 2:47incredible epidemic of children
  79. 2:51mysteriously killing themselves because
  80. 2:53they weren't being affirmed as trans and
  81. 2:55what you find is that that didn't exist
  82. 2:57I mean the the youth suicide rate has
  83. 3:00increased exponentially alongside trans
  84. 3:04affirmation so trans affirmation causes
  85. 3:07the suicide rate not the other way
  86. 3:08around the last thing I'll note is that
  87. 3:10um
  88. 3:10the suicide rate among trans identified
  89. 3:12people is is Sky High it remains Sky
  90. 3:15High all the data shows us it remains
  91. 3:16Sky High even after surgery and in fact
  92. 3:19in the most reliable day that we have
  93. 3:20it's a years after surgery when
  94. 3:23suicidality is the highest for
  95. 3:25trans-identified people that's the
  96. 3:27reality
  97. 3:29professing you good okay any further
  98. 3:31questions for Mr Walsh while we are out
  99. 3:33of session uh Mr Hammer Mr
  100. 3:35representative Hammer thank you
  101. 3:37um thank you Mr Walsh I found an
  102. 3:39interesting one of our uh
  103. 3:41people testified today that they uh had
  104. 3:44their gender farming surgery at 16 and I
  105. 3:47know uh you and former comments
  106. 3:49mentioned this on your blog at about 16
  107. 3:51you're an adult who's mature and can
  108. 3:53make decisions uh you're that at 16. I
  109. 3:56don't care what anybody says even going
  110. 3:57so far as to say you know 16 people when
  111. 4:00you're 16 you should be married and uh
  112. 4:03and could be pregnant or should be
  113. 4:05pregnant so I'm curious if 16 is uh a uh
  114. 4:09an adult in your view why is this bill
  115. 4:12have the minor defined as 18.
  116. 4:17yeah that's that's a hit piece you took
  117. 4:19from Media Matters uh from something
  118. 4:21when I was a radio host uh 13 14 years
  119. 4:24ago in my early 20s uh it's also not an
  120. 4:27accurate reflection of what I actually
  121. 4:28said
  122. 4:30um I was talking about
  123. 4:31uh the fact that people tended to marry
  124. 4:34young historically and that's all that
  125. 4:36that was about
  126. 4:38um
  127. 4:39how does that relate to this
  128. 4:41subject
  129. 4:42just curious your definition of if you
  130. 4:45feel like people are adults at 16 should
  131. 4:47people are adults at 18. but actually
  132. 4:50they're your your brain is not fully
  133. 4:52developed until you're 25.
  134. 4:54so we should be having a conversation
  135. 4:56about whether we should even be doing
  136. 4:58these surgeries to people at 18. but
  137. 5:00certainly before 18 it's it's absurd I
  138. 5:03mean do you do you think that a 16 year
  139. 5:06old can meaningfully consent to having
  140. 5:08their body parts removed
  141. 5:12do you
  142. 5:15no
  143. 5:20we do not yeah we ask the questions it's
  144. 5:23not it's
  145. 5:25okay uh representative Hammer you are
  146. 5:27recognized
  147. 5:29no more questions okay uh representative
  148. 5:31Clemens you recognized
  149. 5:33yeah thank you Mr chairman
  150. 5:36um can you give us a summary of your
  151. 5:38educational background or your health
  152. 5:39care education experience Mr Walsh you
  153. 5:42recognized my experience in healthcare
  154. 5:45your educational background I'm just
  155. 5:47curious you you testified as to a lot of
  156. 5:49your own research so I'm curious for
  157. 5:51what purpose you do that and what
  158. 5:52background you have to qualifies you to
  159. 5:54speak to that well my background that
  160. 5:57qualifies me to speak to this is that
  161. 5:58I'm a human being with a brain and
  162. 6:00common sense and I have a soul
  163. 6:02and so therefore I think it's a really
  164. 6:04bad idea it's a chemically castrate
  165. 6:06children that is my experience
  166. 6:09um also I I did now it's true I didn't I
  167. 6:11didn't go to college but I did go to
  168. 6:13school long enough to learn how to read
  169. 6:14so I can read the data for myself and
  170. 6:16that's exactly what I've done
  171. 6:18representative Clemens and for what
  172. 6:20purpose do you um conduct your research
  173. 6:23and use this brain of yours Mr Walsh
  174. 6:26you're recognized
  175. 6:27I use it for the purpose of trying to
  176. 6:29protect children from being castrated
  177. 6:30and mutilated that's one of the things I
  178. 6:32try to do
  179. 6:34thank you Mr chairman you don't use it
  180. 6:36to get clicks on your let's stay
  181. 6:39application well are using it right now
  182. 6:41to try to get clicks with this
  183. 6:42interaction
  184. 6:44on no I I I I I I really like the idea
  185. 6:47of getting uh of of drawing attention to
  186. 6:51the fact that this is happening to
  187. 6:53children I know you seem to find it very
  188. 6:55amusing I don't
  189. 6:57representative Clemens
  190. 7:00well you made a lot of
  191. 7:01misrepresentations and and category
  192. 7:04characterizations in your comments so I
  193. 7:06think it's fair for me to question your
  194. 7:09background
  195. 7:10let me finish please
  196. 7:13you're recognize representative Clements
  197. 7:16you know if you're going to come before
  198. 7:17a committee and make
  199. 7:18mischaracterizations and
  200. 7:20misrepresentations it's fair game for us
  201. 7:23to ask you your educational background
  202. 7:24and your foundational knowledge for
  203. 7:27making such characterizations that's
  204. 7:29that's my point so I'm curious about you
  205. 7:33speaking to the development of the human
  206. 7:35brain by the age of 25 I seem to recall
  207. 7:38you advocating on behalf of firearm
  208. 7:40possession at the age of 18. do you
  209. 7:42think that's what let's stay on the bill
  210. 7:43please
  211. 7:45that's all I got okay yeah well uh can I
  212. 7:48respond to that
  213. 7:49representative Mitchell you'll recognize
  214. 7:51I can't respond to them thank you Mr
  215. 7:54chairman so
  216. 7:56you know you I think your original
  217. 7:58article blog post or tweet or whatever
  218. 8:02kind of started this Firestorm so I'm
  219. 8:05trying to figure out you know where we
  220. 8:07need to look for these surgeries because
  221. 8:09I'm still trying to find you know the
  222. 8:12surgeries because you know the the
  223. 8:14sponsor the bill last week I kind of
  224. 8:16agreed with him I said we need to split
  225. 8:18this bill in the two parts you know I
  226. 8:21may agree with him on the surgery part
  227. 8:23because I don't think it's happening so
  228. 8:26you know you seem to have started this
  229. 8:28so I need your evidence of where these
  230. 8:31surgeries are occurring in Tennessee
  231. 8:32could you could you give me you know
  232. 8:34places times maybe some names uh or
  233. 8:38something that you know you you know of
  234. 8:40yeah I watch Mr Walsh you're recognized
  235. 8:44my evidence is the health care
  236. 8:48provider's own words you know I I uh I
  237. 8:53outlined Vanderbilt health and their
  238. 8:56transgender Care Program
  239. 9:00and the people that work for that
  240. 9:02program their own words talking about
  241. 9:03what they do and talking about for
  242. 9:05example providing the chemical
  243. 9:07castration drugs to to adolescent
  244. 9:09children as far as surgeries you know
  245. 9:13double mastectomies do happen and the
  246. 9:14way that I know that they happen is that
  247. 9:15after I called attention to this program
  248. 9:18at Vanderbilt they said that they were
  249. 9:20going to stop performing they were going
  250. 9:22to put a pause on the program that
  251. 9:24performs these surgeries on minors and
  252. 9:26so if you're pausing the program that
  253. 9:27performs surgeries on minors then I'm
  254. 9:29going to assume
  255. 9:30that the program existed otherwise you
  256. 9:32couldn't have paused it so now the exact
  257. 9:35number of kids who are being subjected
  258. 9:37to this I don't know exactly it's really
  259. 9:39hard to come up with those numbers I
  260. 9:40think because the people doing it aren't
  261. 9:41really proud of it and there's not a lot
  262. 9:43of interest on their end to tell us but
  263. 9:46I do think that you know even one child
  264. 9:48being horrifically mutilated is too many
  265. 9:52so I know that it's more than one and
  266. 9:54that's reason enough to put a stop to
  267. 9:56this I would say
  268. 10:00so
  269. 10:02so last week I had an amendment that you
  270. 10:05know we're looking to protect children
  271. 10:06from abuse and I also had an amendment
  272. 10:10to stop cosmetic surgery of rhinoplasty
  273. 10:13and breast enhancements to minors how
  274. 10:18would you feel about that
  275. 10:19you know is that mutilation of children
  276. 10:22as well under the age of 18.
  277. 10:24Representative Mitchell that's not on
  278. 10:26the bill that we have
  279. 10:28yeah it is it's surgical it's surgical I
  280. 10:32I'm happy to
  281. 10:33answer that
  282. 10:35you're free to answer Mr walls okay my
  283. 10:38personal feeling about banning breast
  284. 10:40enhancements for for minors
  285. 10:42yes I would be all four personally I'd
  286. 10:45be all for Banning that absolutely yeah
  287. 10:48representative Mitchell okay and and so
  288. 10:51I think the previous representative you
  289. 10:55know proved that you have no medical
  290. 10:57background correct
  291. 10:59uh no so so you're here probably just as
  292. 11:03a public policy you you're trying to
  293. 11:06address good public policy correct
  294. 11:08represent or Mr Walsh yes so
  295. 11:12I just have to question you know some of
  296. 11:15your public policy you know expertise
  297. 11:18when you know I'm reading here Singapore
  298. 11:22is able to have nice things in part
  299. 11:24because they execute drug dealers by
  300. 11:26hanging and arrest even Petty vandals
  301. 11:29and thieves and beat them with a cane
  302. 11:31until they bleed we don't have nice
  303. 11:33things here because we aren't willing to
  304. 11:36do what is required to maintain them so
  305. 11:38you know with statements like that I
  306. 11:41kind of have to question your public
  307. 11:43policy beliefs and you know and you also
  308. 11:46stated there had been no studies well
  309. 11:48I'm sitting here holding a study from
  310. 11:50the American Academy of Pediatrics from
  311. 11:53the University of Pittsburgh about the
  312. 11:57uh suicidal disparities between
  313. 11:59transgender and cisgender adults and
  314. 12:02children so
  315. 12:04I think you know before you state things
  316. 12:07you may need to know all the facts
  317. 12:10thank you all right thank you is that
  318. 12:14Congressman uh chairman Williams you
  319. 12:16recognize
  320. 12:18thank you Mr chairman I make motion go
  321. 12:20back out of session or back into session
  322. 12:22thank you is there a objection
  323. 12:26all right
