- 0:00If you are still redrawing bathroom
- 0:01layouts, vanities, and plumbing details
- 0:04for every project, [music] here's how
- 0:05you can turn those past bathroom
- 0:07renovations and new builds into a
- 0:09reusable library that [music] will save
- 0:11you hours. Bathroom designs might look
- 0:13different from project to project, but
- 0:14the work behind them is often the
- 0:16[music] same. We're recreating layouts.
- 0:18We're redrawing vanities, rebuilding
- 0:20plumbing fixtures over and over again.
- 0:22In this tutorial, I'm going to show you
- 0:23how to stop redrawing all of that
- 0:25bathroom stuff [music] from scratch by
- 0:27turning every project into a reusable
- 0:29documentation library. We're going to
- 0:31focus on rebuilding an adaptable layouts
- 0:33template, [music] vanity and fixture
- 0:35libraries, and detailed systems that
- 0:37help your workflow [music] get faster
- 0:39and more organized with every single
- 0:41project. I'm going to be demonstrating
- 0:42this process today using Rayon Design
- 0:44[music] where we're going to first
- 0:45import a floor plan, design a complete
- 0:48bathroom layout, work with vanity and
- 0:50plumbing fixtures, [music] apply
- 0:51materials and finishes, and organize
- 0:54everything into clear, concise
- 0:55documentations that are ready to pass
- 0:57over to your client all [music] in one
- 0:58place. By the end of this tutorial,
- 1:00you'll have a bathroom design workflow
- 1:02that's more efficient, consistent,
- 1:03[music] and far easier to maintain over
- 1:05time. You can go ahead and create
- 1:06[clears throat] a free rayon account
- 1:08using [music] the link below in the
- 1:09description to follow along and
- 1:11duplicate the templates [music] that
- 1:13we're going to use in this tutorial.
- 1:14Let's go ahead and get started.
- 1:18So whether you are renovating an
- 1:20existing bathroom [music] or maybe
- 1:22designing a new one, the process usually
- 1:24starts by importing a DWG file of the
- 1:26project. So to demonstrate the bathroom
- 1:29design [music] template and resource
- 1:30library, we'll walk through a realistic
- 1:32step-by-step workflow.
- 1:33>> [music]
- 1:33>> So, we're going to start by importing a
- 1:35DWG and then we'll edit and redesign the
- 1:38bathroom [music] space before moving
- 1:39into layout, mill work, and plumbing
- 1:42details. So, I'm just in a blank new
- 1:45model right inside of Rayon. And I'm
- 1:46going to go to the hamburger menu over
- 1:48here and go [music] to import DWG. We're
- 1:51going to search for our CAD file, which
- 1:53is bathroom DWG. And I'll hit open. And
- 1:56then it's going to prompt you with
- 1:57[music] a few questions about layers.
- 1:59I'm just going to import as is. And this
- 2:02is what the preview is going to look
- 2:03like. Um, it is asking me to draw a
- 2:05[music] line by clicking two points.
- 2:06Usually, I just pick some sort of
- 2:08opening, something that I might know
- 2:09[music] the dimension of. So, right
- 2:11here, let's click those two points. It's
- 2:13asking me if it is [music] 1 meter. And
- 2:15I'm going to say yes, that is correct.
- 2:17Um, this is basically just making sure
- 2:19that it brings it into scale. So, I'll
- 2:21just say continue. And then it says pick
- 2:23an insertion [music] point. And we'll
- 2:24just pick. And there you have it. So
- 2:27obviously um you can see that it has
- 2:30maintained some of [music] the blocks,
- 2:32some of the layers. If we go over to our
- 2:34layers panel here, [music] um you can
- 2:36see that it actually brings in all of
- 2:38the layers, the native layers from your
- 2:40CAD [music] file. Basically, anything
- 2:42that was in the CAD file is now in here
- 2:45and completely editable. Now, it is up
- 2:48to you whether you want [music] to
- 2:50redraw some of these items in uh rayon.
- 2:53For instance, the walls and the [music]
- 2:56openings might be helpful to redraw in
- 2:59rayon. And let me just show you why.
- 3:01Because when I select [music] one of
- 3:02these walls, it's basically just like
- 3:04vector um hatch and lines, and it takes
- 3:07a little bit more effort to move them.
- 3:10Whereas, [music] if we had a true uh
- 3:12rayon wall, um which I can show you by
- 3:15drawing our wall here in a [music]
- 3:16second, uh it's easier to kind of expand
- 3:19them and move them. Now, [music] if
- 3:21you're not going to be moving any walls
- 3:23in your project, it might not be worth
- 3:24it to redraw them. But just for the sake
- 3:27of demonstration, [music] let's go ahead
- 3:29and lock this entire thing, and I'll
- 3:31show you how you can actually retrace
- 3:32the walls in this file. And then we'll
- 3:34dive into what the actual project scope
- 3:37is [music] and what we're going to be
- 3:38doing with this floor plan. So, I'm
- 3:40going to just select this entire thing
- 3:41and I'm going to rightclick and say
- 3:43lock. And so now I can't touch or move
- 3:46or edit anything, [music] which is good
- 3:47because I just want to show you how you
- 3:49can actually retrace these walls. So
- 3:51down here with the wall [music] tool, um
- 3:53you can create a new layer to work from.
- 3:55So I'm going to hit the plus layer and
- 3:58let's say rayon
- 4:01walls and make sure that [music] little
- 4:03check box is there. So we're drawing in
- 4:05the layer. And we'll grab the wall tool.
- 4:07And I'm just going to start by basically
- 4:09tracing these walls that we have here.
- 4:11So, [music] you can choose to trace it
- 4:13from the inside, the outside, whatever.
- 4:15Um, I'm going to just [music] do like
- 4:17this and basically click the corners.
- 4:20And you can see that it's drawing walls
- 4:22as [music] I kind of move around here
- 4:24and trace. And again, I've got all of
- 4:27the CAD line [music] work locked. So,
- 4:29that should not impact any of my
- 4:31drawing. Um, it just allows me to kind
- 4:33of retrace it. So, again, you would just
- 4:35kind of like [music] continue doing
- 4:37that. When you're done, you just uh
- 4:39click enter, click done, and now you can
- 4:42see all of my walls here. [music]
- 4:43They're obviously the wrong width. So,
- 4:46we can easily adjust that. So, if I
- 4:48select this wall here, uh we can go over
- 4:50[music] into the style here and adjust
- 4:52the thickness. So, for instance, this
- 4:54looks like it might be a 12-in wall. So,
- 4:56if I click 12 [music] in, now you can
- 4:58see that this wall actually kind of like
- 5:00fills out that space a little bit
- 5:02better. [music] I also like to change
- 5:03the fill as I am tracing. So, I like to
- 5:06put it to like a red color so I can see
- 5:08[music] the difference. Um, you can also
- 5:10easily add like a gradient or a texture
- 5:13or hatch [music] or even upload your own
- 5:15image to add to the style fill. And once
- 5:18you get that looking the way you want it
- 5:20to, [music] you can actually hit save
- 5:22style. And we can call this 12in
- 5:25exterior wall. And now [music] what you
- 5:28can do is actually select all of your
- 5:29other walls and just use your pick style
- 5:32and just ey drop that wall and it
- 5:34[music] will automatically change the
- 5:36style of those walls to match the new
- 5:39one that you [music] have created. So
- 5:41just continue to do that all around your
- 5:43space. And then what's nice about that
- 5:45now is that we can actually [music]
- 5:46select these walls and easily move them
- 5:49in and out. So instead of using the
- 5:52vector lines and you know [music] having
- 5:54to select everything and the hatch and
- 5:55the lines and everything, we can easily
- 5:57just like adjust these walls as we need
- 5:59to.
- 6:01Now our [music] main focus here is going
- 6:03to actually be this bathroom. So I'm
- 6:05going to right click in the canvas and
- 6:06say unlock all. And now you can see that
- 6:09[music] everything is completely
- 6:10editable. So you know maybe we're not
- 6:12going to be adjusting any walls in this
- 6:14space. So, let's just go ahead [music]
- 6:16and delete, you know, anything in this
- 6:18bathroom that exists and is going to be
- 6:21demolished. So, I'm going to just delete
- 6:22this entire [music] bathroom space. And
- 6:24now we have a blank space to work from.
- 6:26And we can actually add in our own
- 6:28blocks and styles and everything later.
- 6:30[music] Now, after some retracing and
- 6:32restyling, your model can look something
- 6:34like this. [music]
- 6:35So, here we've got um a more realistic
- 6:38style. We've got basically all the walls
- 6:40have been replaced [music] with rayon
- 6:42walls. All the blocks have been replaced
- 6:43with rayon blocks, so they're like
- 6:45easily editable in here. [music] And now
- 6:48that our base plan is ready, I can show
- 6:50you how to actually add a style to our
- 6:53floor. [music] And then we're going to
- 6:54build out this space. So you can see
- 6:56that every single floor here basically
- 6:58has a texture associated with it. Now,
- 7:00an easy way to do that [music] is just
- 7:02to place a zone in your room. And how to
- 7:05do that is to grab your zone tool down
- 7:07here and then just basically hover over
- 7:09the space. You can [music] see that
- 7:10these spaces are already zoned out. But
- 7:12when I hover over this blank space that
- 7:14does not have a zone, you [music] can
- 7:15see that it's kind of like a light blue.
- 7:17So, if I click there, it's going to
- 7:19create a zone for me. [music] And now,
- 7:20what I can do is I can apply a style the
- 7:22same way that I applied a style to our
- 7:25walls earlier. [music] Um, but you can
- 7:27add something a little bit more
- 7:28realistic if you'd like. So, just by
- 7:29clicking here, um, we can go to texture
- 7:33[music]
- 7:33and then select something, you know,
- 7:36maybe we want to do like a tile in the
- 7:37bathroom. So maybe we select that
- 7:39[music] tile. Uh maybe we want to make
- 7:41it a little bit uh less opaque. Uh just
- 7:45to like be less in your [music] face.
- 7:46You might want to rescale it. So you can
- 7:49just go on the transform. Uh maybe we
- 7:52want to make this tile a little bit
- 7:53bigger. So uh multiply it by two.
- 7:55[music] So now we're starting to see
- 7:57this realistic tile in here. And this is
- 7:59kind of indicating that this is a
- 8:00bathroom. All right. Now, if you do want
- 8:02to rename this, instead [music] of
- 8:03saying zone 16, all you do is just
- 8:05select on the zone and just say bathroom
- 8:07[music]
- 8:09and it will rename that for you. And of
- 8:11course, it also gives you
- 8:13>> [music]
- 8:13>> um the area inside it as well. So, now
- 8:16that we kind of have that matching um
- 8:18the rest of our spaces, let's go ahead
- 8:21and start to [music] outfit this
- 8:23bathroom using our bathroom design
- 8:25template. So this way we'll be able to
- 8:27explore some layout typologies and
- 8:29design details and just copy [music]
- 8:31them directly into the current project
- 8:32instead of starting from scratch. Um we
- 8:35can just kind of simply adjust what we
- 8:36already have to fit [music] our new
- 8:38space. And this is going to save a
- 8:40significant amount of time compared to
- 8:41starting from scratch. Now that we are
- 8:43in the [music] template file, I just
- 8:45want to walk you through kind of how
- 8:46this is structured. So you can see over
- 8:49here under canvases that we've got um
- 8:51the bathroom layouts here. So, [music]
- 8:53if we just zoom in, you can see that
- 8:55there are multiple different bathroom
- 8:57layouts. Again, [music] very just like
- 8:58standard designs, standard designs that
- 9:00I've used on past projects that
- 9:02>> [music]
- 9:02>> um worked really well. And again, might
- 9:04not fit every single bathroom, but can
- 9:06be easily adjusted to fit other
- 9:08bathrooms. So, you know, it's kind of
- 9:10like if I create [music] something, if I
- 9:12design something that works really well
- 9:14or I think I might use on another
- 9:15project, [music] I just basically copy
- 9:17it into this template and then that way
- 9:19I can reuse it again. And you can see
- 9:20that these all have basically like the
- 9:22floor plan version, the elevation
- 9:24[music] section details. So again, I
- 9:27don't have to start from scratch. I can
- 9:29just kind of copy and paste this into my
- 9:31next project. Moving down, we've got
- 9:33some plumbing details here. [music] This
- 9:35is something that every interior
- 9:37designer basically loathes drawing. Um,
- 9:40so having these like readily made, uh,
- 9:42ready to just copy [music] paste or even
- 9:44like simply adjust, maybe even just
- 9:46adjusting some of the spec call outs or
- 9:48something. [music] Um, just having this
- 9:50already ready at your fingertips is
- 9:51super super useful. And then moving
- 9:53down, we also have some mood [music]
- 9:55boards in here. So again, just some
- 9:56styles that have worked in the past for
- 9:58me that I don't want to have to [music]
- 10:00recreate or, you know, maybe I just want
- 10:02to replace one item in there. Uh, these
- 10:05are just really, really good starter
- 10:06[music] kits. And again, just select it,
- 10:08copy and paste it into your new working
- 10:11project file, and you're, [music] you
- 10:13know, most of the way there. And then
- 10:15lastly, we have our presentation
- 10:16template, which just which just makes it
- 10:18really easy in the end when you want to
- 10:20like assemble everything together.
- 10:21[music]
- 10:22This is just um you know already laid
- 10:24out exactly how I want it. I've got my
- 10:26title page, [music] you know, got my
- 10:28inspiration, I've got my floor plan, my
- 10:30elevations, sections, and so on and so
- 10:32forth. And those things are just already
- 10:33prepared [music] for me. So, I can just
- 10:34copy and paste this and then replace any
- 10:36images that I need to without starting
- 10:38from scratch. So, we'll just test a
- 10:40couple different layouts in here [music]
- 10:41and see if any of them work with what we
- 10:44have. Uh, let's go to this one, the
- 10:46bathroom console vanity. I'm just going
- 10:48to basically [music]
- 10:49uh select all of this, right click, and
- 10:51copy as export so that way I can bring
- 10:53it into another model. And then going
- 10:55back into our model, I'm going to
- 10:57[music] actually lock everything again.
- 10:59So, just select it all and lock. And
- 11:03that way, nothing's going to move when I
- 11:05bring this in. [music] Um, which I will
- 11:07just paste it in here. And that way I
- 11:10[music] can just uh place it where I
- 11:12need to. So you can see that this
- 11:14actually uh seems to fit pretty well
- 11:16right off the [music] bat. I can also uh
- 11:18get in here and just like delete the
- 11:19walls that I already have. So we don't
- 11:22need walls on this, [music] but let's go
- 11:24ahead and just delete those. Delete.
- 11:26Delete. Delete. And this is really all
- 11:28that I need. [music] So I can just move
- 11:30this in here. And if I like this, then I
- 11:33can easily uh just select [music] some
- 11:35elements and move them to work with what
- 11:37we have. Um, you can scale it up, scale
- 11:41that up. You can move some things
- 11:42around. You know, if we want to recenter
- 11:44[music] some of these, I don't really
- 11:46need the tile floor here, so I could
- 11:47delete that and delete some of these
- 11:49tags here. And then, you know, just move
- 11:51things around. [music] We already have
- 11:52the blocks in here. I just can easily
- 11:55adjust this to fit our space again
- 11:57without completely starting from
- 11:58scratch. So, that layout works, but
- 12:01let's try another one. [music] So, I'll
- 12:02just delete that. And again, because I
- 12:04have everything locked, um I don't have
- 12:06to worry about adjusting anything else
- 12:08in the project. We're really just in
- 12:09this one little space. So, having
- 12:11everything locked really helps. So,
- 12:13[music] back in our layout template, um
- 12:16let's go try out [music] our uh
- 12:20freestanding vanity option over here.
- 12:23And [music] again, I can just copy this
- 12:25entire thing. There's some details that
- 12:26I maybe don't need, but we [music] can
- 12:28just copy it and then delete them when
- 12:29we get in there. So, I will copy as
- 12:31export. And you can see too before I
- 12:33bring this in that I already have like
- 12:34all the elevations [music] and sections
- 12:36set up here. Again, I might have to
- 12:37adjust them based on the size, but it is
- 12:40a [music] super helpful starter kit.
- 12:42Again, I don't have to do this from
- 12:43scratch. It already has blocks in it. It
- 12:45already has even styles in it. So, let's
- 12:48move [music] into our model and then
- 12:49we'll just paste it in here. So, we'll
- 12:51say paste. And I'm going to just move it
- 12:53off to [music] the side here for a sec.
- 12:54And obviously we need to rotate it. So
- 12:56I'll just rotate that. And then let's go
- 12:59ahead and just delete our walls again
- 13:00and delete some of these [music] um
- 13:02extra annotation things that we don't
- 13:04need.
- 13:06So basically all of those I don't need
- 13:08any of my shadows [music] for right now.
- 13:10And we'll just basically move this into
- 13:13this space. [music] And I can see
- 13:15already that it actually fits pretty
- 13:16perfectly. So I'm just going to line it
- 13:18up. And I'm [music] actually going to
- 13:20delete the floor cuz I like my floor.
- 13:22And now you can see that like basically
- 13:24the bathroom is designed, right? Like I
- 13:26didn't have to do that much and I can
- 13:28already see that the bathroom [music] is
- 13:30mostly designed. So I'm going to
- 13:32rightclick and unlock all. Um I'm going
- 13:35to make this uh floor pattern a little
- 13:39bit uh [music] more transparent just
- 13:41because I feel like it's a little too in
- 13:42my face. And uh there you have it. So if
- 13:47I would have left my shadows in there, I
- 13:49could have easily just um kept those in
- 13:51[music] there. But you can also just
- 13:52kind of extend any other ones that you
- 13:53have or don't even use them. It really
- 13:55doesn't matter. [music]
- 13:56And then, you know, if you don't like
- 13:57this countertop, you can easily just
- 14:00detach [music] the style and create a
- 14:02new one. So, you know, maybe we want to
- 14:05do [music] more of like more of like a
- 14:07granite type thing. So, I'll just click
- 14:08on like the turazzo and maybe that's
- 14:10more our [music] style. But, as you can
- 14:12see, I mean that the bathroom is
- 14:14basically designed and that took us like
- 14:151 minute to [music] copy it over. It
- 14:17might not always be that easy. Sometimes
- 14:19you might have to adjust things, but
- 14:20again, RAM makes it super easy. [music]
- 14:22So, you can just kind of like scale and
- 14:24move as you need to. Um, if I, you know,
- 14:28maybe wanted to add another sink to this
- 14:29[music] project, I could easily just
- 14:31make that countertop bigger, copy paste
- 14:34the sink, [music]
- 14:35and voila. Like, that was so easy. Right
- 14:38now, [music] as you can see, I already
- 14:40have some blocks that are coming in from
- 14:42other projects, but Rayon does have a
- 14:45huge library of blocks, 10,000 [music]
- 14:47plus to be exact, and they are all in
- 14:49top front side views. I'll show you
- 14:52where to access those. You can just go
- 14:53over here to the blocks and then
- 14:56libraries. [music]
- 14:57And under blocks here, you can just
- 14:59search for whatever you want or you can
- 15:01go to libraries and everything [music]
- 15:02is kind of like laid out here. So, for
- 15:05instance, we might want to be looking
- 15:06for a bathroom. And there we're [music]
- 15:09going to find all different kinds of
- 15:11like toilets or sinks or anything like
- 15:14that. Like for instance, if [music] we
- 15:16decide we don't want this kind of sink
- 15:17and we want to maybe replace it with
- 15:19something different, um you can easily
- 15:21do that here. So, like this [music]
- 15:22round sink, I can say open and it's
- 15:24going to show me three different uh
- 15:26views. So, [music] you know, if I want
- 15:28this right here, I can just drag it in
- 15:31and [music] adjust it. And you know, if
- 15:34I wanted to basically replace um the
- 15:36sinks that [music] I have, I can just
- 15:37delete those. You just might need to do
- 15:39a little bit of relayering. So, let's go
- 15:41back to our layers, find the round
- 15:43[music] sync, and bring it up to the
- 15:45top. And now you can see that we have
- 15:47this new round sync. If you [music]
- 15:48wanted to do two of them, you could
- 15:49always scale that down, put it over
- 15:52here, and then, you know, paste it over
- 15:54here. So, really easy to kind of bring
- 15:57in other blocks, [music] adjust them as
- 15:59you need to. Uh you can also bring in
- 16:01your own blocks from CAD obviously as
- 16:03we've already seen. Additionally, there
- 16:05are parametric [music] blocks in Rayon,
- 16:07which basically just means that they
- 16:09scale and adjust a little bit
- 16:10differently [music] than a typical block
- 16:12would. So to show you some examples of
- 16:14that now, in order to find the
- 16:15parametric [music]
- 16:16blocks in the block library, um you'll
- 16:18just go to your library, make sure
- 16:20you're in your blocks, and [music] just
- 16:22add a filter here that says is
- 16:23parametric and save. And then what it
- 16:25will do is it will search for [music]
- 16:27parametric blocks. Um, you can see this
- 16:29little like symbol here that basically
- 16:31indicates [music] that these are all
- 16:32parametric. And let me just show you
- 16:34what that means as opposed to [music]
- 16:36just like a regular block here. So, here
- 16:38I have a parametric uh bathroom sink.
- 16:41And you can see just by clicking it, it
- 16:43looks a little bit different. I've got
- 16:44[music] these arrows here as opposed to
- 16:46this one. There are no arrows. So, if I,
- 16:49you know, [music] scale this, it
- 16:50basically just scales it up or down.
- 16:52Now, with this one, I can actually
- 16:54adjust just certain parts of it instead
- 16:56[music] of scaling it all together. Um,
- 16:59this is scaling it in just one
- 17:01direction. So, you'll notice that this
- 17:04is really useful [music] with things
- 17:05like kitchen tables and couches and
- 17:08things like that where you don't
- 17:09necessarily want to like scale [music]
- 17:11the entire thing. You just want to add a
- 17:12seat to it. That's kind of similar to
- 17:14what this is doing. The parametric
- 17:16blocks can come in handy [music] in
- 17:17certain um areas if you need them. Now,
- 17:20you can also [music] use their AI panel
- 17:24here to create blocks. If there's
- 17:25something that you cannot find that
- 17:27matches what you want, uh you can easily
- 17:30just ask [music] the AI panel over here
- 17:32to create a block for you. So, we're
- 17:35just going to pop back in here into
- 17:37[music] the template to grab uh an image
- 17:40of a sync that we want it to create a
- 17:42block for. Now, a sink is pretty simple,
- 17:45right? [music] Um it's probably just
- 17:47going to be like a square. Uh but just
- 17:49to show you what Rayon can do, let's
- 17:51just [music] copy as export and place
- 17:55that image in here. So we'll place it
- 17:57comes in really small,
- 18:00but what we're going to do is we're
- 18:01going to tell the AI panel to [music]
- 18:02generate a CAD block based on this
- 18:05image. So I'm going to say use selected
- 18:07image. And then under tools, I will say
- 18:10uh generate a CAD block. And I don't
- 18:12even have to prompt it anything. I just
- 18:13hit [music] send. And what it's going to
- 18:14do is it's going to create a top as well
- 18:17as two different side views of the
- 18:19product um image. And then you know we
- 18:21might have to adjust them a little bit.
- 18:23And again this is going to be a really
- 18:24simple CAD block cuz this [music] is
- 18:25like just basically a rectangle with
- 18:27some fade edges.
- 18:30So as you [music] can see the AI has
- 18:32generated um some different views of
- 18:34this sink. So all I have to do here is
- 18:36say insert. [music] And now you can see
- 18:39that that's a pretty accurate
- 18:40representation of this sink. And then
- 18:42there [music] are also the side views as
- 18:44well. It even added like some of the
- 18:45piping in there. So later when we are
- 18:47[music] doing elevations, we can use
- 18:49that. Again, this is a really simple CAD
- 18:51block, but you can see up here there
- 18:52were there was another [music] one that
- 18:54I had prompted with um this vanity that
- 18:57it did, which if I insert that um yeah,
- 19:00pretty accurate. [music] So
- 19:03sometimes it takes a couple different
- 19:04prompts within the AI to
- 19:06>> [music]
- 19:06>> uh get it to look right. But as I've
- 19:08said, it's just a really good start. So
- 19:10you don't have to be drawing this stuff
- 19:12from [music] scratch every time. And
- 19:12again, if you find something that you
- 19:14like, then you can just reuse it again.
- 19:16Which brings me to [music] my next
- 19:17point, which is that you can create your
- 19:18own templates. Obviously, like we've
- 19:20been using this template that I created,
- 19:22but you can [music] use any blocks or
- 19:24styles, any model that you've created,
- 19:27and actually transform it into a
- 19:28template. So really, all you need to do
- 19:31is just start [music] dropping um your
- 19:33blocks or your styles or anything onto a
- 19:36canvas. And then once you create that
- 19:38canvas similar [music] to this one that
- 19:40I have created here, all you need to do
- 19:43is go to the share button and [music] uh
- 19:46you can either publish it as a template
- 19:48which is then going to be reusable for
- 19:49the future or you can go to libraries
- 19:51here [music] and publish your styles or
- 19:54publish your blocks. Um, and what that's
- 19:56going to do is it's going to basically
- 19:57take all the styles from your project
- 19:59that you've created and it will put them
- 20:01into a [music] style library and then
- 20:02you just import those into a future
- 20:04project um, and insert those into the
- 20:06[music] project and then you can reuse
- 20:07those on every project. So, as we've
- 20:10seen so far, having a template at your
- 20:12fingertips [music] uh, just makes laying
- 20:13out and redesigning so much faster. Just
- 20:16like with floor plans, [music] you can
- 20:17copy those sections, elevations, mill
- 20:19work, all that stuff um, back in the
- 20:21layouts here. So, you know, once you
- 20:23select one of these designs, then you
- 20:26can just copy and paste [music]
- 20:27these as well um as your elevations. And
- 20:31um having these [music] sections,
- 20:32elevations, mill work, drawings from
- 20:34your library just makes it so simple um
- 20:36because you can just kind of adjust the
- 20:38layout uh based on the changes that
- 20:40you've made. [music]
- 20:41And now that our drawing process is
- 20:43clear, I want to show you two more time
- 20:45savers that will also make your drawings
- 20:47more impressive [music] and expressive.
- 20:49Let's start with how you can use that AI
- 20:51panel to extract [music] more value from
- 20:53your drawings with just a few clicks.
- 20:55So, back to Rayon's AI panel over here.
- 20:58[music] This uh really helps you design,
- 21:00visualize, and refine bathroom projects
- 21:02faster than ever. Uh from generating
- 21:04aometric [music] views to creating
- 21:05custom CAD blocks, as we just did,
- 21:07producing realistic 3D renderings. Yes,
- 21:10you heard that right. And even swapping
- 21:12fixtures, finishes, and materials.
- 21:13[music] You can use single prompts to
- 21:15save hours and explore more design
- 21:17options faster than ever. This is
- 21:19especially powerful during the early
- 21:21design phase when you want [music] to
- 21:22present clients with multiple different
- 21:24bathroom layout options, material
- 21:26options before you actually commit to
- 21:28anything and before you're like moving
- 21:30[music] into your more detailed uh shop
- 21:32drawings. So, let's see how we can bring
- 21:34a bathroom plan to life by creating a
- 21:36quick 3Dometric [music] view without
- 21:38even doing any 3D modeling. And we'll
- 21:41also apply our mood board materials to
- 21:43it with just a few prompts. Back [music]
- 21:44in here in our working model, I am going
- 21:47to just uh take a screenshot of this
- 21:49bathroom here and basically prompt the
- 21:52AI to [music] generate a 3D axon. So,
- 21:55I'm just going to hit the plus button
- 21:56over here, say add screenshot. Um, this
- 21:58is just a quick way to literally add a
- 22:00screenshot of
- 22:02your [music] um space that you want it
- 22:05to recognize. And then um [music] I'm
- 22:08also going to go to tools over here and
- 22:10I'll say create an axometric view of the
- 22:12scenes floor plan. Um, and then I
- 22:14[music] don't have to say anything else.
- 22:15I'll just say send, and it's going to
- 22:17basically um create like a vector
- 22:19looking uh axon based on the floor plan
- 22:23that I [music] gave it. Sometimes it
- 22:24will also take into account any of the
- 22:26materials that you have. So, if you want
- 22:27it to just be a blank space or a blank
- 22:30slate, um, I would just, you know,
- 22:32remove your materials or just make all
- 22:33of these [music] like a white fill. But
- 22:35what's really cool is that we can also
- 22:36prompt the AI to make different styles
- 22:39of this. So, we can do like a clay
- 22:40style. We could also give it a mood
- 22:42[music] board and say, you know, apply
- 22:43these materials to the axon. So, I'll
- 22:46show you how to do that here in just a
- 22:47minute. Okay. [music] So, as we can see
- 22:50over here, um it looks like it has
- 22:52created an axon, which actually doesn't
- 22:55look [music] super accurate. Um it's
- 22:57it's moved the sink a little bit. If I
- 23:00say preview, it looks [music] like it
- 23:01moved the sink on the other wall. So,
- 23:02I'm going to X out of that. And we're
- 23:04just going to try that again.
- 23:07[music]
- 23:10Now, we have to just kind of be mindful
- 23:11[music] with AI, right? Because it's not
- 23:14always going to be super accurate. Um,
- 23:16and sometimes it does take a couple
- 23:17different tries. So, I'm going to hit
- 23:19the plus sign [music] here, and we'll
- 23:20say add screenshot. Um, we're going to
- 23:22just get as tight into [music] this uh
- 23:25bathroom as possible, and we'll take the
- 23:28screenshot there. And then I'll say
- 23:29[music] tools and generate axon. And
- 23:31we'll hit send again and see what it
- 23:33comes up with.
- 23:37Okay. [music] So, it looks like this new
- 23:39one that it created is a little bit more
- 23:40accurate. Looks like it threw in a door
- 23:41there, which that [music] might be part
- 23:43of the plan, might not. But just for
- 23:45tutorial purposes, let's go ahead and
- 23:47insert the image. And then we [music]
- 23:48can um stylize this a couple different
- 23:51ways. So, let's select the image. And
- 23:54then over here, we'll say use selected
- 23:56image. And you can see that it's
- 23:57basically populated [music] this with
- 23:59the image. And under tools, we're going
- 24:00to say stylize. And you can select
- 24:03whatever you want. So, we could either
- 24:04do a clay model, we could do realistic.
- 24:06Um, [music] let's just do a clay model
- 24:08to start and we'll hit send and then see
- 24:10what it does there. And then we can also
- 24:12go grab a mood board from our template
- 24:14and then apply [music] those materials
- 24:15to the axon. So, jumping back into the
- 24:18template under [music] the mood boards,
- 24:20I can select whichever one I want. So,
- 24:23I'm going to just go ahead [music] and
- 24:24select this one here. So, I'll just
- 24:26basically copy as export and go back
- 24:29into our model. And off to [music] the
- 24:31side, I'm just going to paste that.
- 24:34scale it up a little bit and just keep
- 24:36it handy for whenever we need it. Now,
- 24:39[music] scrolling down, let's go see
- 24:40what it did here. So, if I say insert
- 24:42image,
- 24:44now we have our basically the exact
- 24:46[music] same axon just as a clay
- 24:48rendering, which is super cool. And so
- 24:51then you can also apply these materials
- 24:55to [music] the axon. So, I am going to
- 24:58first take screenshot over here of
- 25:00[music] my mood board. So take a
- 25:02screenshot of the mood board and then
- 25:05also add in a selected image. You can
- 25:07select either. Let's just [music] try
- 25:08selecting the clay. We'll say use
- 25:10selected image. So I want to make sure
- 25:12that both of those are populated [music]
- 25:13here. And then under tools,
- 25:16uh we can either say realistic look.
- 25:19Let's say realistic look and feel and
- 25:21see how it does there. You can also type
- 25:23in a prompt here [music] that would say
- 25:24like apply mood board materials to the
- 25:27acton. But let's see how it interprets
- 25:29this. So we'll just hit send. What's
- 25:31really cool [music] too that I just
- 25:32noticed is it actually did add our
- 25:34little hex pattern and it actually looks
- 25:35kind of like 3D tiles and you can also
- 25:38see like the turazzo here. So like
- 25:39[music] the materials are there. They're
- 25:41just kind of grayed out. So I think
- 25:43that's pretty cool. Okay, so [music]
- 25:45let's see here. If we preview this other
- 25:48image now, we can see that it did apply
- 25:49some materials. [music] And I'm actually
- 25:51pretty impressed. Let's go ahead and
- 25:52insert the image. And yeah, so it looks
- 25:56like it applied some of the materials
- 25:58from the mood board. [music]
- 26:00And
- 26:01yeah, I mean, I think it did a pretty
- 26:02good job. We've got like the turazzo. If
- 26:05you wanted [music] to get more specific,
- 26:06you could, you know, grab this tile here
- 26:11and the image and say like apply tile to
- 26:13walls or something like that. [music]
- 26:15Um, the AI is actually pretty good about
- 26:17really specific prompts. So that just
- 26:20kind of like is an easy way to start
- 26:22[music] uh building more of a 3D
- 26:24representation without actually having
- 26:25to build the 3D representation. And this
- 26:27is just going to make the design intent
- 26:29so much more clear to clients. So now
- 26:31that we've kind of learned how [music]
- 26:33to do all this stuff, uh let's go ahead
- 26:35and see how it all comes together in our
- 26:37final part [music] where we set up our
- 26:38client presentation.
- 26:40Now, as you might know, Rayon is a
- 26:43[music] one-stop shop to go all the way
- 26:45from our conceptual design to
- 26:47construction documentation to [music]
- 26:48client presentation. So, we can use our
- 26:51model canvases and paper canvases to
- 26:54create our drawings, set up our
- 26:55drawings, and then [music] always have
- 26:57them like up to date, the drawings up to
- 26:59date, represented in our documentation,
- 27:01um whether we're working with the team
- 27:02or [music] presenting to the client. So,
- 27:04let's go ahead and dive in and see how
- 27:06we can finally present this design.
- 27:10back [music] into our template again.
- 27:11I'm going to go to our paper canvas
- 27:13bathroom presentation. And this is where
- 27:15this guy comes in handy. [music] So,
- 27:17we're going to literally just copy this
- 27:19entire thing. So, just selecting
- 27:20everything, rightclick, copy [music] as
- 27:22export. And then in our model, we're
- 27:25going to go to our paper canvas. So, up
- 27:27until now, we've been working in our
- 27:28model canvas, [music] which is just kind
- 27:29of like the working space. Um, in the
- 27:31paper canvas, this is kind of where you
- 27:33present everything. So, I don't need to
- 27:35create [music] a page because I'm
- 27:36literally going to just paste the pages
- 27:38that I have. So, I'm going to say paste.
- 27:40And now, if we zoom in, we can [music]
- 27:42see that our presentation is started.
- 27:44Right now, we we can [music] notice that
- 27:47there are quite a few drawings that are
- 27:49missing. And that's just because we need
- 27:50to add in our own floor plan and stuff
- 27:52like that. But, this is such a good
- 27:54starter kit um that has like a lot of
- 27:56stuff ready to go [music] for us uh that
- 27:58can be easily swapped out or just
- 28:00reused. So, we can change out some
- 28:03[music] of the images in our mood
- 28:05boards. um change out some of the
- 28:07colors, the textures, anything like that
- 28:09just by, you know, importing uh [music]
- 28:12any new images. Uh we do also need to
- 28:15add in some of our views over here. So,
- 28:17[music] for instance, the proposed floor
- 28:18plan as well as elevations. And then
- 28:21we'll drop in our axons. And then I'll
- 28:23show you how to actually share this with
- 28:24the client. [music] So, you can see here
- 28:26that there's a view that we just need to
- 28:28delete. And instead, we're going to
- 28:30create a new view from our model canvas.
- 28:32[music] So, I'm going to just say plus
- 28:34right here. go to view from model canvas
- 28:36and it's going to basically drop our
- 28:38[music] model canvas on here. Now before
- 28:41I resize anything, I need to rescale
- 28:44this so the floor plan fits on the page.
- 28:47So having [music] the view selected, I'm
- 28:49just going to go over here to scale. And
- 28:51you can just start by selecting a couple
- 28:52of different sizes. Um let's go to let's
- 28:57try one to 200. Maybe that'll work.
- 28:59>> [music]
- 28:59>> So once it kind of looks like it's
- 29:01fitting on the page now to kind of clean
- 29:03it up, you can just hold down [music]
- 29:04your command or whatever it is on a
- 29:07window to kind of uh close this in.
- 29:10Sorry, I'm working on a Mac. And [music]
- 29:12now we kind of have like a more uh
- 29:14streamlined floor plan. Obviously, that
- 29:16[music] looks much nicer. And then same
- 29:19goes for over here. So maybe we want to
- 29:21show more of a closeup of bathroom.
- 29:23[music] So maybe I copy and paste this
- 29:25view and we scale it up. So, [music]
- 29:28let's go to like one to
- 29:3350. And again, we'll use [music] our
- 29:36little command key. And we can just kind
- 29:37of like zoom in on the bathroom.
- 29:40And this could [music] be kind of more
- 29:41of like our detail shot. And then if we
- 29:44wanted to, we could also add in our
- 29:45elevations and sections. So, going back
- 29:48into [music] the template then, um,
- 29:49we'll go to our layouts and grab these
- 29:53two sections. Copy as export. [music]
- 29:56and back into our model canvas. I will
- 29:59just paste those. Um, if you need to
- 30:01adjust them based [music] on any design
- 30:03adjustments that you did, uh, this would
- 30:05be the time to do that. I'm just going
- 30:07to leave them as is just to [music] show
- 30:08you how to get them on the paper canvas.
- 30:11So, back to our paper canvas. Again, we
- 30:13can just, uh, place a new view. So, go
- 30:16to view, model canvas, [music]
- 30:18and we can see those right there. Now,
- 30:20we do probably want to make sure that
- 30:21they're the same scale as the floor
- 30:23plan. So, this one is 1 to 50. So,
- 30:24[music] let's make our scale 1 to 50.
- 30:27And again, just holding down that
- 30:28command key [music] to uh clean this up
- 30:31a little bit. And now we've got our
- 30:34little bathroom as well as our sections.
- 30:37[music] So, you can see that this starts
- 30:38to come together really easily because
- 30:40we've already got everything kind of set
- 30:42up and easy to copy paste. [music] Now,
- 30:44lastly, let me just show you how to get
- 30:46our little axon onto this page. Um,
- 30:49[music] couple different ways that you
- 30:50could do it. You could either do that
- 30:51same process of the view from model
- 30:53canvas or I usually like to just [music]
- 30:56go into my model canvas and just copy
- 30:58the axon and go back to our paper canvas
- 31:00[music]
- 31:01and paste it on the axon directly. Then
- 31:04you can just add some little call outs
- 31:06if you want to. So like if there was
- 31:08[music] a specific material that you
- 31:10wanted to call out um you can add that
- 31:12right there. We need to bring that above
- 31:15our layer over there. Or you could also
- 31:18add in like a material call out. So
- 31:20[music] you could just do like a little
- 31:23circle here. Add in a little circle and
- 31:26fill it with an actual texture. So
- 31:29[music] you know, we talked about doing
- 31:31the ceramic tiles.
- 31:33Let's see. Let's change the size
- 31:36to [music]
- 31:370.1. So you can see that that's kind of
- 31:40like calling that out now. [music] Or if
- 31:42you have like an actual spec, then you
- 31:43can easily do that as well. Another uh
- 31:46cool little way to [music] add in some
- 31:48more detail is to actually bring in a
- 31:50section cut of the plumbing details. So,
- 31:52back in our template again, [music]
- 31:54uh we do have some cutthroughs of the
- 31:57plumbing details. So, we can just
- 31:58[music] easily copy
- 32:01export, copy as export, and go back to
- 32:03our model. And in our model canvas, just
- 32:07[music] paste that detail in here. And
- 32:10um we can add that in our paper canvas.
- 32:12[music] So adding in view again from
- 32:14model canvas and uh scale it however you
- 32:18[music] need to. So let's scale it a
- 32:20little bit larger this time going in the
- 32:23wrong direction. And [music] then once
- 32:24we kind of close in on this detail here.
- 32:27Now we've got this detail. And again we
- 32:29could just kind of do like [music] a
- 32:30call out if you wanted to. Something
- 32:32like that. My arrow is pointing in the
- 32:34wrong direction. But anyway, easy way to
- 32:37add in those details that we already
- 32:39have [music] kind of drawn if you wanted
- 32:41it to be on another sheet. Obviously, it
- 32:42could be on another sheet, but uh this
- 32:44is just kind of a fun way to represent
- 32:46[music]
- 32:46that detail and kind of tie it together
- 32:49with the axon. Now, to wrap up the
- 32:52process, [music] we can either export
- 32:53our presentation as a PDF or a PNG,
- 32:56which is very simple to do. So, we've
- 32:58got our presentation here. We can easily
- 33:00go to the hamburger menu, [music]
- 33:02export to PDF. You can say all images or
- 33:05all pages or you could export it to an
- 33:08image as an image. Do all images. Um,
- 33:10[music] but my favorite way to do this
- 33:12is to actually export this as a [music]
- 33:15URL presentation for your client to
- 33:17easily just view on the web. And that
- 33:19also makes it easy to just like update
- 33:21[music] and stuff. So, uh, all you need
- 33:23to do is go to your share button here,
- 33:26go to this presentation tab, and then
- 33:28just [music] toggle this on. And what
- 33:30it's going to do is it's going to
- 33:31literally create this as a presentation
- 33:32just at in a URL. So if you copy that,
- 33:35open [music] it. This is what it's going
- 33:37to look like when your client actually
- 33:39uh opens up the URL that you send them.
- 33:42So as you can see here, it's like a true
- 33:43presentation style. Um [music] just kind
- 33:46of, you know, click through and you can
- 33:48see we've got our floor plan. This
- 33:49[music] obviously we needed to clean up.
- 33:52Um but that's the nice thing is that you
- 33:53can kind of clean this [music] stuff up
- 33:54and then just, you know, uh share it
- 33:56again and it'll be updated. That's one
- 33:59of my favorite [music] ways to use this
- 34:01uh share tool. Now, you can also give
- 34:03other team [music] members access just
- 34:05right under here under access. Make them
- 34:07an editor, a viewer, or you could also
- 34:09do a public link [music] if you want
- 34:11others to be able to change some things
- 34:13in the project. Uh just a really, really
- 34:15easy way to coordinate with everyone.
- 34:18And that is the complete [music]
- 34:19bathroom design workflow. Today we
- 34:22covered how to design with a system, one
- 34:24that helps you stop redrawing bathroom
- 34:26layouts, vanities, and plumbing fixtures
- 34:28and instead build a reusable library
- 34:30that grows with every [music] project.
- 34:31By combining these adaptable layouts,
- 34:33the CAD blocks, and detail libraries
- 34:36into a single template, you [music] can
- 34:37move faster in that early design phase,
- 34:40communicate more clearly with your
- 34:41clients, and produce bathroom
- 34:42documentation with far less friction.
- 34:44The more you design, the more efficient
- 34:46and powerful your design workflow
- 34:48becomes. My recommendation is to always
- 34:50start small. [music] Take one of your
- 34:52past bathroom projects and just turn it
- 34:54into a template. This way you can save
- 34:55your mostused details and begin
- 34:57compounding your work instead of
- 34:59starting from scratch [music] each time.
- 35:00You can go ahead and create a free rayon
- 35:02account using the link in the
- 35:03description below and just go ahead and
- 35:05duplicate those templates and apply them
- 35:06to your own practice. Thanks for
- 35:08designing along with me today. I will
- 35:09see [music] you in the next tutorial.
