3. 0:04her break records make history at the
4. 0:062000 Sydney games and then a single
5. 0:10decision changed her life now the
6. 0:12all-around athlete and mother of three
7. 0:15is back of the starting line Reinventing
8. 0:17herself and helping others along the
9. 0:22way once considered the fastest woman in
10. 0:25the world but there goes maranones
11. 0:28coming the five time Olympic medalist
12. 0:30Maran Jones a household name during the
13. 0:322000 Sydney games had any Daydreams
14. 0:36about winning the five oh my gosh every
15. 0:39hour of every day an allaround athlete
16. 0:42whose Journey we followed on GMA good
17. 0:44morning to you Robin in the midst of her
18. 0:46tumultuous Fall From Grace two decades
19. 0:49later Marian's gearing up for her second
20. 0:52chance 2008 you're convicted of lying to
21. 0:55prosecutors about the use of
22. 0:57performance-enhancing drugs first woman
23. 1:00to win five track and field medals in a
24. 1:02single Olympics and people want to know
25. 1:05do you feel you could have achieved that
26. 1:08without the drugs 1,000% and that's what
27. 1:11makes it very hard I was blessed with
28. 1:13just an enormous amount of talent but
29. 1:16knowing that it didn't need to happen
30. 1:18the way that it did always will stick
31. 1:20with me as um a moment that is uh hard
32. 1:25at first maryan adamantly denying the
33. 1:28allegations trust me if I had had a
34. 1:31positive test you guys would have known
35. 1:33then later confessing so it is with a
36. 1:36great amount of
37. 1:38shame that I stand before you and tell
38. 1:41you that I have betrayed your trust
39. 1:44stripped of her medals and serving 6
40. 1:46months in prison you've been out of the
41. 1:48spotlight for so long why come back now
42. 1:52I needed to step away I needed to step
43. 1:55away to reflect on why certain choices
44. 1:59were made
45. 2:01now what's and then now moving forward
46. 2:03when I was in 49 days of solitary
47. 2:05confinement right and I was sitting
48. 2:09there saying you could allow all of this
49. 2:11to just put you under or you can use
50. 2:15what your mom has always said about you
51. 2:17that you're something special I was not
52. 2:19going to allow my poor choices to um
53. 2:24waste her dream and how are you going to
54. 2:26use your life your experiences now to
55. 2:30help people now focus on helping others
56. 2:32emerge stronger while overcoming
57. 2:34obstacles Marian's embarking on a new
58. 2:37coaching initiative well I would hope
59. 2:39that people would look at my journey
60. 2:41Robin and and ultimately come to the
61. 2:44conclusion that failure isn't forever
62. 2:46that although many people cannot relate
63. 2:50to being an Olympic Athlete an Olympic
64. 2:53champion a convicted felon everybody can
65. 2:57relate when it comes to failure in in
66. 2:59their lives and so not only do I coach
67. 3:02and teach and Mentor entrepreneurs on
68. 3:07how to pull themselves up when they're
69. 3:09dealing with stuff and how do you create
70. 3:11balance with all of it I'm loving it I'm
71. 3:14so passionate about it with a renewed
72. 3:16Spirit the mother of three proudly
73. 3:18living life on her own terms recently
74. 3:21revealing this truth on Tik Tok that is
75. 3:24that I do identify um with the
76. 3:27LBGTQ Community where did you find the
77. 3:29courage to let people know that part of
78. 3:32your
79. 3:33life well I didn't realize it was a
80. 3:37thing really right I'm going to tell you
81. 3:40I have been away for over a decade from
82. 3:43the spotlight and have been living my
83. 3:45true and authentic self and again it was
84. 3:49my
85. 3:50time to just finally be done with the
86. 3:54mask and the disguise and I would hope
87. 3:58that when people see my story ultimately
88. 4:01um they say you know what yeah she she
89. 4:04went through some stuff a lot of it
90. 4:06because of her own choosing in her own
91. 4:08choices but she didn't stay there and
92. 4:11she didn't allow it all to ultimately
93. 4:14consume
94. 4:16her just what she said failure is not
95. 4:19forever and we sat down yesterday and
96. 4:22the Olympic Games were on in the
97. 4:23background and I said to I said do do
98. 4:26you watch the game she goes yeah I do
99. 4:28she said some people would be surprised
100. 4:30that it brings her Joy doesn't bring her
101. 4:32pain to watch I love how she emphasizes
102. 4:35how no single label can Define her
103. 4:37exactly and I love how she owns up to it
104. 4:39she says you may not be an Olympian or
105. 4:41Olympic medalist or a convicted felon
106. 4:43you know doesn't shy away from it
107. 4:45doesn't want to live in that season she
108. 4:46says she's in a new season of her life
109. 4:48she's mentoring she's coaching she's
110. 4:50training she was asking me can I do
111. 4:52push-ups I said no my R is not my wrist
112. 4:54isn't well enough yet um but I'm just I
113. 4:57it was nice to see the light
114. 5:00Spirit there's joy there there's
115. 5:02ownership like you said it's really
116. 5:04beautiful and and also fun to see you by
117. 5:06the way Robin back doing those
118. 5:08interviews different hairs yeah thank
119. 5:10you appreciate that I like your 2000
120. 5:13Robin hair it's good yeah it was a
121. 5:16moment I had so much more to say with
122. 5:19Mary and she had so much more to share
