  1. 0:00there doesn't look like there's much
  2. 0:01wrong with this foot but yet I've still
  3. 0:03put a block on it she had some small
  4. 0:04cracks right here and they're really
  5. 0:06hard to hide from when it comes to that
  6. 0:09foot though I've got a feeling things
  7. 0:11are going to get a whole lot more
  8. 0:13graphic this is the hoof GP and what I
  9. 0:16think is probably a soul
  10. 0:21uler Rush when dance and the moment
  11. 0:25comes when I fall and time goes slow
  12. 0:30I fall into
  13. 0:37you we don't have a hose that reaches
  14. 0:40this part of the farm so we'll just wipe
  15. 0:43it off with some water with hiding in it
  16. 0:46from our bucket you would think that
  17. 0:48every Farm had a hose really handy for
  18. 0:50the crush but it's not always the case
  19. 0:53sometimes we just have to make the best
  20. 0:55of what we've got right I can see layer
  21. 0:58upon layer on layer on this gu's foot
  22. 1:01and because she's got so much extra
  23. 1:03pressure on that foot because the extra
  24. 1:05height so extra height means she's
  25. 1:07walking on it more than the other one
  26. 1:09because it's the lower foot down lower
  27. 1:11lower because it's lower down so all of
  28. 1:14the weight is going through this outer
  29. 1:15claw when really it should be spread
  30. 1:17between the two claws evenly grab a
  31. 1:19nozzle to separate the
  32. 1:24feet that just helps us really isolate
  33. 1:27the feet that we want to work on this
  34. 1:28one here isn't really overgrown but it
  35. 1:30is undulating it's slightly slightly
  36. 1:33long so we'll reduce the length of that
  37. 1:35slightly flatten off the tow area so
  38. 1:37it's nicely balanced and then basically
  39. 1:40try to replicate that on this foot you
  40. 1:42can see as I grind away on this inner
  41. 1:44clot that I'm being really careful I
  42. 1:46don't want to remove very much material
  43. 1:48so I need to be as careful as I possibly
  44. 1:51can with the grinder but when it comes
  45. 1:52to this outer overgrown cloth I can
  46. 1:55really go to town there is much more
  47. 1:57material to be removed there's length be
  48. 2:00removed and height and with the bulk of
  49. 2:03the material removed now we can use the
  50. 2:04knife for the finer
  51. 2:06details carve right into there and we're
  52. 2:09going to reveal all these multiple areas
  53. 2:11really quickly oh byebye nozzle we do
  54. 2:16need to model out this inner claw so
  55. 2:18we'll do that before we continue more
  56. 2:20with the outer
  57. 2:21one that's just really really helps the
  58. 2:24slurry be dispersed up in between the
  59. 2:27claws so this part of the foot is the
  60. 2:29sole area obviously and this is the
  61. 2:31outer wall horn all of the cow's weight
  62. 2:34is actually being carried by this outer
  63. 2:36wall horn so we could remove a huge
  64. 2:38portion of this sole if we wanted
  65. 2:40because it's not there to carry her
  66. 2:42weight right that's looking pretty nice
  67. 2:44right move
  68. 2:47this
  69. 2:52stinks so there is going to be layer
  70. 2:54upon layer upon layer here but that is
  71. 2:57at the heel so down here towards the toy
  72. 3:00we're not really sure what's going on
  73. 3:02underneath this layer of hoorn I don't
  74. 3:05know that needs to come away look you
  75. 3:07how sharp the knife looks up here like
  76. 3:09that and then as soon as you cut wall
  77. 3:11horn it looks like it's blunt that crack
  78. 3:15is no use there though it's going to
  79. 3:17need to come away just gently though
  80. 3:20tease it out and reduce this wall horn
  81. 3:24as well I should have done that with the
  82. 3:25grinder probably but I didn't want to go
  83. 3:26too far
  84. 3:28[Music]
  85. 3:37now we can start to see these
  86. 3:40layers not sure if this is going to be
  87. 3:43as bad as I first thought although there
  88. 3:45is a hole starting to
  89. 3:55appear start going up the way now
  90. 3:58instead
  91. 4:00so funny like after the fact so in other
  92. 4:03words once you've removed the ho horn
  93. 4:05you know that you could have taken huge
  94. 4:07chunks but at this stage in the trim you
  95. 4:09just don't know what's underneath
  96. 4:11because right now that should
  97. 4:14be impossible for me to cut this
  98. 4:17away but it's
  99. 4:19not because it is underrun undermined it
  100. 4:24is not good it's separated
  101. 4:31there actually a little bit more to come
  102. 4:33off the tow area
  103. 4:38[Music]
  104. 4:50[Music]
  105. 4:51there still feel of yuy slurry coming
  106. 4:56out there
  107. 5:03[Music]
  108. 5:09just get all these little pieces out
  109. 5:11from in between what's
  110. 5:16broken delicate
  111. 5:20work getting there though look at
  112. 5:23this looking fairly good just a bit more
  113. 5:27of this wall horn to come away
  114. 5:32lovely so obviously you now know what
  115. 5:35happens I flatten off this inner claw so
  116. 5:37that Craig can apply the block and this
  117. 5:40glue has every chance of sticking before
  118. 5:43filling the entire area with this green
  119. 5:45spray which is a copper and zinc
  120. 5:47compound which will sink in and get rid
  121. 5:49of that digital dermatitis and then cigy
  122. 5:52boy in the background wraps it up with
  123. 5:54salicylic acid just to make entirely
  124. 5:56certain this cow has every chance of
  125. 5:59recovering in fully this foot doesn't
  126. 6:01really have much wrong with it but we
  127. 6:03needed to put this block on to ensure
  128. 6:05that this little problem here didn't
  129. 6:07materialize into a much greater problem
  130. 6:11like exists on her other foot clearly we
  131. 6:14did need to intervene with this one
  132. 6:15though because without help there's no
  133. 6:18way she would get over that right let's
  134. 6:21see if she's walking with two walks
  135. 6:27on after a bit of a mess Dismount
  136. 6:30leaving the crush she hesitates so I
  137. 6:33walk behind her to encourage her to move
  138. 6:35so that we can all see her walk at first
  139. 6:37she's unsure of her steps but as her
  140. 6:40strides begin to lengthen you can see
  141. 6:42she's starting to understand that the
  142. 6:44block is really helping relieve her pain
  143. 6:47and there you have it a cow with a
  144. 6:49pretty major problem on one claw
  145. 6:51slightly mired on the opposite claw as
  146. 6:54is often the case whenever you have a
  147. 6:55problem on one claw a cow is using her
  148. 6:58other claw to relieve pressure from the
  149. 7:00sore on so she starts to go wrong there
  150. 7:03and that's exactly what happened in her
  151. 7:05case thanks for watching if you made it
  152. 7:07this far bye-bye I just SP did you see
  153. 7:09it ooh
