1:05police believe when petrol was poured

1:10saying this is a potential murder
1:12investigation with the cause of the fire
1:15yet to be
1:19confirmed the events that led to the
1:21children's deaths began back in May 2003
1:25when a 19-year-old single mother called
1:27mered Duffy married her fiance

1:36out there went to wedding and then uh
1:39there was a reception held in my club on
1:41out road when they came back and that
1:44there and there was quite a few people

1:49one crowd sitting here of a family and

1:56thing Jimmy's daughter had just married
1:59Mick Philpot

2:02past Kim Hill was his partner when he
2:05was 21 and in the Army in the late 70s
2:08she was 17 she had the tarity to send
2:11him a Dear John Letter ending their
2:14relationship he responded by um stabbing
2:18her 15 times and when her mother tried
2:20to intervene attacked her seriously
2:23injuring her as well and he went to
2:25prison for that he received a prison
2:27sentence of 7 years for attempt to
2:32murder philpot's conviction did little
2:35to change his attitude to
2:38women he's so egocentric everything uh
2:42he
2:43does is is important in the sense that
2:47it's got to relate to him and how he
2:49feels and he has absolutely no
2:52compunction in doing anything to hurt
2:54somebody else we know this because he's
2:56you know hurt multiple partners in the
2:59past and he has absolutely no remorse

3:09ability to really see somebody else's
3:13perspective and because he has no

3:16perspective and no remorse this is not
3:18going to stop him when he starts hurting
3:20somebody
3:23else whether his new bride was aware of
3:26philpot's history is unknown but even on
3:29their wedding say Mer's father was
3:33concerned he seemed to be mingling
3:35around everywhere and among the women
3:38stuff like that there and uh half the
3:41time she was sitting there on her own

3:46him I said you're supposed to be with

3:51all these women and he did quite annoy
3:54me you know was in two mans of saying

4:11centered on Mick once you understand
4:14that you can see why he behaves the way
4:17that he does so bearing that in mind
4:21then everything that he does he has no
4:24understanding of how it imp impacts on
4:25other people and even if he does
4:27understand it then he wouldn't care
4:30already a father of five by the time he
4:32was 40 Mick Philpot had become Adept to
4:35choosing the type of women who he could
4:38manipulate they always seemed to go for
4:40young girls that was vulnerable there
4:44was always 16 17 year olds or like
4:48marage she just come out of a
4:50relationship which was abusive so he
4:53prend to be there for her and then he
4:56ended up abusing her in in some way
4:58anyway so he just went for the youngans

5:03control he flatter them they would be
5:06attracted to him because he gave them
5:08the attention maybe attention they
5:10didn't have before in their life and
5:13very quickly he would get them on side
5:15he'd move them in and very soon he would
5:18start to control
5:21them MC philpot's obsessive and abusive
5:24Behavior left a trail of broken
5:26relationships in his
5:28wake
5:30he's also a very very controlling man
5:33and he will control every aspect of a of
5:37a partner's life their finances where
5:39they work where they live who they see
5:43where they go everything about them and
5:46he's done this on multiple occasions
5:48with with different
5:49partners he used to do all the shopping
5:51he' do the food shopping he he had
5:54control of all the money the girls
5:56didn't get no money if they wanted
5:58something they'd have to ask and it was
5:59up to him whether he said yes or no to
6:02where they got
6:03it he sat there but he gave the orders
6:07out you know to whoever cook the tea you
6:11wash the pots you do this and you do
6:13that sort of
6:16thing I think his extreme narcissism is
6:19also coming from a potential position of
6:21fear he doesn't ever want to be left he
6:24can't tolerate any rejection and he's
6:27got a very sensitive potentially injured
6:31sense of self and in the course of his
6:33life unfortunately multiple people get
6:36hurt in order for him to operate the way
6:39he
6:40does Philpot met mered Duffy in the year
6:432000 and she quickly fell under his
6:46spell the pair moved into 18 Victory
6:49Road and whilst at first glance the
6:51relationship was a happy one behind
6:53closed doors it was a different

7:25hospitals which by all account she
7:27absolutely loved she was a happy gol
7:30lucky person when she was at work um and
7:32then her demeanor would completely
7:33change and she'd go quiet and silent
7:36when she used to have to finish work and
7:38go and get picked up by
7:40Mick I can remember going around once
7:42and mared um she had bruisers all up a
7:45face and made out she got attacked going
7:47to the garage one night um but she never
7:50did admit it was me but you know I I
7:53assumed and soand we thought it was a
7:55bit strange going to a garage at half 2
7:57in the morning um um so I think she was
8:00just covering up for
8:04Meck in 2002 the domestic Arrangements
8:08at 18 Victory Road became even stranger
8:11when Mick moved his 16-year-old mistress
8:13Lisa Willis into the house she would
8:17even act as a bridesmaid to Mick and
8:19merid when the couple married a year
8:23later both of them started families with
8:26uh with Mick and it got a stage where

8:31were 11 children living in the
8:34house everybody just kind of said well

9:09three adults hence Mick having a caravan
9:12outside the front of the house that he
9:14would live in and sleep in and in his
9:16own words alurn at nights he'd have a
9:18different woman in there whether it was
9:20his mistress or whether it was merid
9:22these unusual living arrangements began
9:24to attract the attention of the local
9:26community and the situation wasn't
9:28helped by mix's seemingly insatiable
9:31appetite for
9:33publicity we ran a story in 2006 where
9:37Mick Philpot came to us to say that he
9:39wanted a bigger Council house at the
9:41time he was living at 18 Victory Road
9:44and he was living there with his wife
9:47mered their children that they had at
9:49the time plus his mistress and the
9:51children that he had with his mistress
9:52at the time um on the back of our story
9:55the Nationals picked it up the following
9:57day and RAM with it one of the tabloids
10:00dubbed him Shameless Mick after the TV
10:02program and on the on the back of that
10:04the media appearances for Mick and
10:06marade spiraled
10:09really he was just all about Mick one it
10:11you know you know if he wasn't the
10:13center of attention it wasn't really
10:16worth entertaining is I but you know his
10:19kids was looked after in our eyes uh he
10:21was doing the right thing by his
10:22children even though he was unemployed
10:24you know his kids didn't want for
10:26anything so you know no one really seen
10:30you know anything wrong in what Mick was
10:32doing but the real truth is is most of
10:35the ladies thought he was a pervert The

10:44aggressive shape or form because he was

11:31May the people who lived on Victory Road
11:34were woken by an awful sight a sight
11:37that would change their lives forever I
11:40looked out the window and then I seen
11:43about a foot high flame coming from the
11:46front door and I just knew whose ass it
11:48was straight
11:53away in February 2012 philpot's mistress
11:57Lisa Willis decided that enough was
12:01enough his mistress was always the
12:03strongest one out the pair of them and
12:05he always said one day she will up and
12:07leave um I think she just had enough she
12:11got older she got wiser and just had
12:13enough of the controlling the situation
12:15and just chose to get out with the kids
12:18Willis left 18 Victory Road along with
12:20the five children she shared with Mick
12:23Philpot was Furious and he wanted
12:26Revenge but he also wanted the benefits
12:28of payments that he lost when Lisa took

12:39to do this and that to get the uh
12:43children back and I think maybe was
12:45pointing some of the blame at marid if
12:47you hadn't have been here she might have
12:50uh stayed kind of thing M marade Philpot
12:54along with their six children stayed at
12:56the house on Victory Road few Furious
12:59that Willis had left Mick began legal
13:01proceedings to gain custody of their
13:03five
13:04children a court hearing was set but it
13:07was a date that neither party would
13:09attend in the early hours of the 11th of
13:12May the very day of the hearing
13:14neighbors woke to a horrifying sight I
13:18looked out the window and then I seen
13:21about a foot high flame coming from the
13:25front door and I just knew whose ass it

13:31and to me it sounded like saying it was

13:34obiously I've got up thinking the fire
13:36was actually an our ass but when I heard

13:47where's the kids in the ass in the
13:53ass when I first seen out the window you
13:56know I was looking through sleepy
13:57eyes I could see Flames at the door when

14:03only a matter of minutes we we're
14:05speaking like the the door was a blaze
14:07you know and there was smoke coming
14:09right out of the windows you know so we'
14:12been a matter of minutes it just gone up
14:14like that neighbors rushed to 18 Victory
14:17Road which was now consumed by fire they
14:20desperately tried to get into the house
14:22to rescue the six children who were
14:24asleep
14:26upstairs with that I ran next door cuz
14:29there was a caravan his Caravan was
14:31obviously there blocking access I jumped
14:33upon the Caravan straight over and I
14:36just seen him and merid in the back
14:38garden light and you I didn't think at
14:41the time I just thought this kid's in
14:43there and then when I jumped over he
14:44says all they R in the back bedroom I
14:45thought to you know what no he wern't
14:49helping in anyway went into the
14:51conservatory cuz it like a maaz had a
14:53pool table one side and Conservatory on
14:55other side dogs barking here there smok
14:59alarms going off smoke coming out parrot
15:03sing but at that time you know I wasn't
15:06think I was just thinking get in and try
15:08and help the kids and it just didn't
15:11work you know the more I was going in
15:13the more I was coming
15:14back have you ever seen a

15:58engulfed 18 Victory Road would claim the
16:00lives of six children who'd been asleep
16:03upstairs Jade Philpot who was 10 John
16:07nine Jack 8 Jesse 6 and 5-year-old Jaden
16:13died at the
16:14scene the eldest child 13-year-old
16:17Dwayne mared's son from a previous
16:20relationship was critically
16:22injured two on1 trolley two on1
16:27trolley the last one the Wayne on the
16:30pavement for 10 minutes and I was trying
16:33to pump life into
16:34him despite the Frantic activity outside
16:38the house onlookers began to question
16:40the actions of Mick and
16:43merid I realized straight away the
16:45parents weren't doing nothing I thought

17:28like he was pretending to be the way

17:34are in now she said six I said where she
17:36has all in the back bedroom you know
17:39there's no reaction from
17:42her within an hour after it happened me
17:46and my brother looked at each other and
17:47said do you see what I just
17:49seen and we not SP and I said yeah is it

17:54thinking I apologize to that boy you
17:57know for not being able to touch his
18:00kids in any way I held
18:03him it was like holding the brick wall
18:06and that son of a [ __ ] destroyed my
18:08life destroyed
18:10it cuz that little girl was right there
18:13near that window and I couldn't touch
18:17her couldn't lay me hands on I'm so glad

18:29in the confusion outside 18 Victory Road
18:32friends and neighbors who had tried so
18:34hard to save the children began to
18:36realize there was something dreadfully
18:38wrong whilst they had risked their lives
18:41trying to get into the house the
18:42children's parents had stood by and
18:47watched but it wasn't until I stood back
18:49and realized that it was just one big
18:53fix they both looked
18:56scared cuz they knew they had made the

19:35finally out police officers began to
19:38search for clues that they hoped would
19:40reveal how the fire that had killed five
19:42children and critically injured one more
19:45had
19:45started they quickly realized that the
19:48blaze was not an
19:51accident the fire had started at the
19:54front door the police confirmed that
19:56quite early on as part of their
19:58investigation um it also became quite
20:00clear that the police confirmed quite
20:02early on that the fire had been started
20:04deliberately or that was their belief um
20:06of course there was a joint police and
20:07fire investigation once it became
20:09apparent that it had been started
20:11deliberately the investigation went on
20:13to who could have started this because
20:16there were two arrests very early on
20:18there was an assumption that the
20:21mistress was behind it and that was the
20:23mistress that had been arrested the two
20:25arrests came to nothing philpot's
20:28mistress Lisa Willis and the second
20:30person were released without charge
20:33leaving police desperate to find who had
20:35started the
20:36fire as the rumor mill round Victory
20:39Road went into overdrive the actions of
20:42Mick and marade grew increasingly
20:44bizarre despite the eldest child Dwayne
20:46fighting for his life in hospital Dwayne
20:49was transferred to Birmingham hospital
20:52and at the time Mick didn't want to go
20:54CU he had a court appearance in the
20:56morning so
20:58he he said to Marie you go um and then
21:03like obviously they told him you know
21:06you must
21:07go and in near enough lit had to be
21:10forced into the car to uh go to
21:14Birmingham my youngest daughter said
21:17that uh her and her mommy went up at
21:212:00 and uh marad and Mick were in with
21:25Dwayne and
21:27she said you want us to take over for an
21:30hour or two so as she can go and fresen
21:32up and get a cup of tea in that there
21:34they never came back to 11:00 that
21:38night and the youngest daughter said you
21:40could tell a made way what they've been
21:42doing because Maria did all laugh on her
21:46neck unfortunately there's been a severe
21:48deterioration in the condition of Dwayne
21:50um he's been at hospital now obviously
21:52since the fire but in essence now he's
21:54only being kept Alive by a life support
21:56machine which is very very sad
22:00Dwayne Philpot lost his fight for life
22:03on the 14th of May 3 days after the
22:07fire as the police investigation
22:09continued his parents seemingly had no
22:12idea that the Finger of Suspicion was
22:14pointing directly at
22:17them there was a huge amount of
22:18outpouring of grief in the community and
22:21further beyond for for mcka
22:23marade they lost their six children the
22:26house who who wouldn't have sympathy for
22:28them but then during that time they've
22:30been put into a hotel room in the the
22:33Derby hospital where the where the
22:34children's bodies were taken after the
22:37fire there were rumors starting to
22:39circulate that Mick was going to
22:42different places and asking people for
22:43money we know that he went to the
22:45traveling community and was given
22:47thousands of pounds by them so they'd
22:49ried around to support him we'd heard
22:51that he'd been to one of the local
22:52supermarkets asking for handouts asking
22:55for clothes there was also a rumor that
22:58that he was offered some clothes by one
23:00of the
23:00local supermarkets but then turned them
23:04down because the clothes weren't good
23:05enough for
23:06him you had the seat Community you had
23:09the Asian Community had the Gypsy
23:11community that chucked thousands a few
23:14thousand to him that night because he'
23:15lost his his family his ass and
23:18everything they' been out sharpen they'
23:21been do the pubs singing karoke then
23:24been down to Victory roads to barbecues
23:27and that there
23:28I was upstairs at my mom's ass and there
23:31was a knock on the
23:32door my cousin answered it actually was
23:35staying that night at my mom's ass

23:39week after the fire after what's all
23:41going through my
23:43head and they come around to thank me
23:45and my brother for making the
23:47effort now when they come in my Mom's
23:50Kitchen there was not one a bit of
23:52emotion in marade or one single emotion
23:55in me now if IID have lost six kids
23:59right there's no way that I could be
24:02standing without puffy eyes a week after
24:04thanking someone looking all pretty
24:07smiling I had to embrace merine they
24:09didn't embrace me Mick tried to fake uh
24:14a cry oh it was the same thing that I
24:18seen that
24:19night detectives had initially arrested
24:21Lisa Willis but with her Alibi confirmed
24:25suspicion began to fall onto Mick and
24:27merid
24:28especially now that police had proved
24:30the fire had been started inside the
24:33house they along with another man Paul
24:36Mosley her family friend who had been at
24:38the house that night were placed under
24:40covert surveillance which included
24:42bugging a hotel where the Phil Poots
24:44were staying during the the time that we
24:47were in the hotel the police made some
24:49uh undercover recordings of them which
24:51were used as key evidence in the trial
24:53they included um merid having sex with
24:56paor Mosley in the hotel room while Mick
24:58was there and they also include a lot of
25:00whispered conversations which were
25:01analyzed by prosecution and defense
25:05experts what you said tell me what he
25:08said what he said about how many went
25:11letters how many times went the what you
25:14said that me trying to go in he tried
25:16everything you could to get in I said to
25:18him I wanted to run through the
25:20Flames he was heard saying things like
25:23are we sticking to the story um what did

26:14money as if this wasn't bad enough on

26:20the Phil Poots themselves called a press
26:22conference at the Darby Conference
26:24Center for all that witnessed it it
26:27would be a defining Moment In the
26:30case we got there we really didn't know
26:33what to expect but the fill pots were
26:35brought in I sure everyone seen there
26:38were cameras flashing um dictaphones
26:42going hear the journalist scribbling in
26:44their notebooks he pretty much collapsed
26:47straight away when he started talking he
26:50thanked people like the Butler Brothers
26:52who helped him on the night to try and
26:54get the children out to see this
26:56community to to come together like the
26:57it's just it's just too overwhelming in
27:00hindsight and one of the most telling
27:01things about the whole of the press
27:04conference was how he never once paid
27:06any tribute to the children he didn't
27:08name them he didn't mention them it was
27:10all over in 4 minutes and 55 seconds
27:14Mick kept putting his hands over his
27:16face and leaning forward mered had her
27:18head bowed she'd occasionally look up at

27:28a few people looked at each other and I
27:30certainly when we got back to the new
27:32when I got back to The Newsroom where
27:33they' been watching it live on
27:34television there were people in our
27:36Newsroom who were
27:37saying there's something not right about
27:40this and of course the four firearm men
27:42the police the ambulances doctors the
27:45nurses literally everybody
27:48who's who try tried to help save our
27:51children they
27:52couldn't to me it was a show because I
27:55couldn't see a tear and never had heard
27:57a mention of the children or find out
28:00who done this to my children and I
28:02thought to
28:03myself what's wrong with the man six
28:06children are
28:08dead somebody set the house on fire no
28:11mantion of the children no sign of a
28:14tear and I don't think there was a tear
28:17coming out my head's either but she just
28:21sat there were her head down Clinging On
28:23to
28:25him let excuse me a minute
28:28the thing that I saw there was him being
28:31histrionic this is a slightly separate
28:33thing to being narcissistic and he has
28:35some traits of being hisonic as well and
28:37what he was doing in that TV interview
28:40was he was really trying to show some
28:43emotion and because he finds that hard
28:46he gets it a little bit wrong and so
28:48what he does is he he overdoes it so
28:52then he sort of then he he sort of comes
28:54out with all of the tears and all of the
28:57the histrionic sort of element to him um
29:01because he thinks that what people
29:03expect but if you look very very
29:05carefully at him when he's doing that
29:08there are no tears at all so he's um
29:11he's wiping tears away but he forgets
29:13that when you cry your tears go down the
29:16inside of your nose and you have to wipe
29:18your nose as well he's he's not quite
29:21work that out and so he wipes his eyes
29:23but forgets to wipe his
29:25nose what Phil pot didn't realize was
29:28that as he reveled in the media
29:30Spotlight he was also being studied by
29:32the police because at the time of the
29:35press conference he was their Prime
29:39Suspect it was a knock on the door at me
29:41mom's ass it was just a routine did you

29:50it we hadn't the murder Squad come into
29:52interview US the C and I'm glad I'm glad
29:55it I'm glad it happened
29:59huh on the 29th of May two weeks after
30:02the fire detectives felt they had enough
30:05evidence Mick and mered Philpot were
30:08both arrested and charged with murdering
30:10their six
30:13children I recall sitting at my desk an
30:16email pinging from the police press
30:19office opening it up and saying seeing a
30:2455-year old man and a 31y old woman have
30:26been arrested on suspicous of murder and
30:29just standing up and shouting over to
30:30them literally standing up and going the
30:32Phil Poots have been arrested for
30:34murder it weren't a shock when um they
30:38got arrested we were supposed to meet
30:40him that morning um and I'd rang the
30:43phones are switched off and I said to me
30:45hband been
30:47arrested you know they've finally been
30:49arrested later on that day we found that
30:51he had been arrested and maray had too
30:54and then I think it was 2 Days Later
30:57later um we sat watching 10:00 news and
31:00then it said on there that they' both
31:02been charged um and I was just glad that
31:05they finally called to with them only
31:08days later a third man Paul Mosley a
31:11friend of the couple who was present at
31:13the house on the night of the fire was
31:15also arrested on suspicion of
31:18murder their charges were later
31:20downgraded to manslaughter meaning
31:23prosecutors didn't have to prove that
31:24the three accused actually intended to
31:26kill the six children but only that they
31:29were responsible for their
31:33deaths trial took place at Nottingham
31:36Crown Court it started on February the
31:3811th
31:402013 which ironically was a year to the
31:43day that Mick's former mistress had
31:46walked out on him with the children the
31:49courtroom that morning was just
31:50bristling just the whole air of
31:52anticipation you know here is a man and
31:54his wife and his friend who were charged
31:56with the man Slaughter of of six of
31:59their
32:00children the second that that dock
32:02opened and that the three of them walked
32:04in the flanked by dock officers everyone
32:07was craning their neck everyone wanted
32:08to see what they were wearing what they
32:09looked like as the trial began the whole
32:13sworded story of Life at 18 Victory Road
32:16was laid
32:19bare local radio reporter turned around
32:23to me and said this whole story makes
32:26Shameless look like Mountain Abbey and I
32:28think it's a line that stuck with me
32:29throughout the whole of the trial and
32:32that's very much how I view the
32:34relationship that Paul Mosley had with
32:37the fil Parts it was sedy there was
32:39dogging involved there was three-way sex
32:43possibly more um who who knows but it it
32:46was just it was
32:48just a relationship that I couldn't
32:50possibly comprehend me having with
32:53anyone their police interviews recorded
32:56after the arrest s only serve to
32:58strengthen the prosecution's case
33:00against the
33:03accused I think the police interviews
33:06were
33:08interesting what the Barrister for the
33:10prosecution did bring out in those
33:12interviews was the startling similarity
33:16in what Mk marade said when they first
33:19observed the
33:21fire they both said that they saw a
33:24bright orange light and they both also
33:27said that they heard a
33:29pop now what they were describing
33:32actually was the
33:33ignition of the
33:35fire well they wouldn't have seen that
33:37from the other side of the room unless
33:39they set the
33:40fire and they both described it in
33:43exactly the same
33:45terms the Barrister very rightly pointed
33:48that out and accused them of colluding
33:52with regard to their testimony and
33:53that's absolutely right to do that we
33:57saw some video evidence of him being
33:59interviewed what they didn't quite pick
34:01up on this but um he gave a very
34:04revealing gesture and he he said um I
34:07saw the the fire across the room um and
34:11he said I saw the fire across the room
34:13and he gestured the fire coming up
34:15towards his face and of course it
34:18couldn't possibly have done that from 20
34:2130 foot away he was describing the fire
34:25igniting Underneath Him
34:28but one of the most damning pieces of
34:30evidence that was brought before the
34:31court was the 999 call made by mered
34:34Philpot on the night of the
34:36[Music]
34:42fire
34:48the merid was very very calm in the
34:51first part of the call that's the first
34:53thing I thought the operator says which
34:56service would you like
34:57and mered says all three please later on
35:01you see Mick says I can't get out I
35:04can't get
35:07out I can't get
35:10out this is not a man who's desperate to
35:14get in to the house this is a man having
35:18a panic attack who wants to get out of
35:20the
35:21situation I can't get
35:25out as the trial regressed the true
35:28horror of what happened on the night of
35:29the fire was about to be
35:34revealed someone whether it was Mick or
35:36Paul or merid had been out and bought
35:38some petrol to deliberately start a fire
35:41to make it look as though someone had
35:44pulled petrol through the letter
35:45box and then lit it then someone
35:49probably Mick was going to grab a fire
35:51extinguisher and put it out be the hero
35:54go to court that morning on a custody
35:56battle with with with his children that
35:57he had with his
35:59mistress used that as a look at me
36:01aren't I a hero and it just went
36:04tragically wrong the fire got very
36:07quickly out of control Mick had
36:09apparently done some DIY work inside the
36:12house he had painted yacht varnish all
36:15the way up the woodwork up the stairs
36:17this is highly flammable and should not
36:19be used on Interiors so the fire went
36:23straight up the stairs unfortunately
36:25that wasn't the worst of it
36:27because there was far too much petrol
36:30used to ignite the fire so using petrol
36:35to start a fire is one thing but using
36:37the amount of petrol which we know was
36:40used to start this particular fire uh
36:43was really just asking for
36:45trouble one of the key pieces of
36:48evidence that the prosecution brought
36:49before the court was the petrol residue
36:52that was found on the clothes each of
36:54the three defendants were wearing on the
36:56night of the fire

36:59three of them had petrol on the clothing
37:02it was it was very small amount it
37:04wasn't a huge amount they weren't sosed
37:06all over their jeans or anything but
37:09what the analysts had discovered was
37:12that the same type of petrol that was
37:15used to start the fire inside the house
37:19was also found in small quantities on
37:22all three of their of their clothing
37:25what was the chance that
37:27all three people who had been together
37:30that evening we know they'd all been
37:31together that evening what were the
37:33chances that they had all got total
37:36additive on them why would they
37:38have this additive this petrol additive
37:41on them the petrol evidence coupled with
37:44testimony from Witnesses was enough for
37:46the jury all three defendants were found
37:49guilty of six counts of
37:52manslaughter when the first guilty
37:54verdict was read out I was waiting with
37:57my mobile phone ready to send it back to
38:01our web Editor to stick on the web
38:03straight away I remember sending the
38:06message looking over at Mick Mick's got
38:08his arms folded he's going for that he
38:11isn't saying anything and he's not
38:12showing any facial
38:14emotion when Paul Mosley's guilty
38:17verdicts were read over he he was the
38:19only one who showed any emotion he
38:21looked over and was shaking his head he
38:22looked he went pale
38:25but as soon as they were taken from the
38:27dock and the courtroom was cleared I
38:29think that's maybe more when the emotion
38:30came out I know one of one of Mar's
38:33sisters as she was getting LED away said
38:36something along the lines of I knew on I
38:38knew on that morning that you had done
38:39this and she shouted that in the
38:41courtroom before she stormed
38:43out for his role as the driving force in
38:46the botched arson attempt allegedly to
38:48frame his mistress Mick Philpot received
38:51a life sentence with the judge
38:53describing him as a disturbingly
38:55dangerous man man with no moral
38:59compass mered Philpot and Paul Mosley
39:02were each sentenced to 17 years in
39:04prison to friends and relatives however
39:07the sentences were unduly lenient yeah a
39:11bur IR
39:14ears there's no justification in that at
39:17all divide it into six you can't do
39:24it 17 years
39:27after that you know a couple of years a
39:30kid that's not right man you know but
39:33then she's going to get out
39:35living with this on her on her
39:37conscience but has she got any
39:38conscience you know who
39:41knows but there've been sentence justice
39:44has been paid but for me it wasn't long
39:46enough nowhere near long
39:49enough when the
39:52past sent and that there we uh some of
39:56us were pleased and say others weren't
39:59others thought they should have got more
40:01thought they should have been done for
40:02each child individually instead of you
40:05know basically they were six child they
40:09got one sentence for the whole six
40:10children a lot of us thought they should
40:12have got a sentence for each child kind
40:15of thing you know and there was uh
40:17people stood up in court and you know
40:19justice has been done uh made daughter
40:22went in one and this that and the other
40:25and uh all he could do when he was laugh
40:28and when he was turning to take him
40:30downstairs putting his finger up to the
40:34to his family in that there and to
40:41lot I'll never get over
40:43it I'll try and deal with it but I'll
40:45never get over
40:46it so every day in me every day six
40:50little baby dead on the
40:53Arma nobody can help him and their own
40:56parents did
40:58it and I couldn't help
41:00him couldn't do
41:03nothing stand there and
41:06watch so no I'll never get over
41:10it but I'll try and deal with it that's
41:12all I can
41:15do personally I'd like to kill the man
41:18for what he's done to them children and
41:22what he done to me after cuz at the end
41:26of the
41:26yeah what she has done I can't forgive
41:30her for still my daughter I still love
41:33her but I blame him for the way she was
41:37and the way she is now and what she's
41:39done all his
41:41doing that's to me I I'd strangle them
41:44on tomorrow give him half a chance well
41:47I mean I some nice to sit back and think
41:49what did I do wrong that she turned out
41:52the way she did you know I blame myself
41:55sometimes
41:57starting a fire to frame
42:01someone that's got completely out of
42:05control where six children age 13 or
42:09under have
42:12died I can't comprehend it I really
42:16can't idiotic stupid naive you can use
42:20whatever objectiv you you like but I
42:23think you just have to remember that you
42:25know it's children six children they're
42:28no longer
42:37here I really hope Derby gets over this
42:40but I'm not sure it
42:41will I think it will hang over the city
42:44for a long time to come I think the
42:47outside world will look at Derby and I
42:49think it'll go that's the city where the
42:51bloke killed his six
42:52kids
