  1. 0:05welcome back o doers when it comes to
  2. 0:07email marketing it's always best to
  3. 0:09establish a sense of trust with your
  4. 0:10audience you don't want to bombard them
  5. 0:12with Bland boring messages that do
  6. 0:14nothing but clog up their inboxes that's
  7. 0:16why it's important to be strategic with
  8. 0:18every email you send however even with
  9. 0:20the best intentions there are times when
  10. 0:22recipients are ready to unsubscribe from
  11. 0:24a mailing list or even Blacklist
  12. 0:25themselves from future communications
  13. 0:27entirely it's never ideal but hey it
  14. 0:30happens and you don't want to make it
  15. 0:32hard for the recipient to do because
  16. 0:33that doesn't reflect well on your
  17. 0:34company as a whole so making the
  18. 0:36unsubscribing and blacklisting process
  19. 0:38easy for them is the best way to go it
  20. 0:40helps your business appear more genuine
  21. 0:42and less spammy fortunately ODU is well
  22. 0:45aware of that fact and our email
  23. 0:46marketing application makes it super
  24. 0:48simple to manage all unsubscriptions and
  25. 0:50blacklists and who knows maybe if you
  26. 0:52allow them to leave on good terms they
  27. 0:54may just resubscribe one day never know
  28. 0:57so let's jump into our database to see
  29. 0:59how to handle just such thing with Odo
  30. 1:01email marketing let's start off on our
  31. 1:03email marketing settings page from here
  32. 1:05we want to make sure that the Blacklist
  33. 1:07option is enabled that setting allows
  34. 1:09our recipients to Blacklist themselves
  35. 1:11whenever they'd like as you can see
  36. 1:13we've already taken care of that but if
  37. 1:14you haven't already be sure to check
  38. 1:16that box and hit save before continuing
  39. 1:19but with that setting locked and loaded
  40. 1:20let's see what it's like to unsubscribe
  41. 1:22from one of our mailing lists to do so
  42. 1:24we'll jump over to our mailing list page
  43. 1:27and click on new to open a new email
  44. 1:29form
  45. 1:31first it should be noted that an
  46. 1:32unsubscribe link appears at the bottom
  47. 1:34of all mailing templates except the
  48. 1:36start from scratch template if the start
  49. 1:38from scratch template is used you have
  50. 1:40to manually add a specific unsubscribed
  51. 1:42Link in the body of the email or use a
  52. 1:44block from the footer section of the
  53. 1:45building blocks which includes an
  54. 1:47unsubscribe link there's more
  55. 1:48information about that in our
  56. 1:50documentation on unsubscribing so I'll
  57. 1:52leave a link to that in the description
  58. 1:53below for this video Let's click on a
  59. 1:56random template and see what that link
  60. 1:57looks like how about we click on the
  61. 1:59welcome message
  62. 2:01template obviously like any other
  63. 2:03template this can be designed and
  64. 2:05customized in any other way we'd like
  65. 2:07but today we're solely focused on the
  66. 2:09unsubscribed link which you can see is
  67. 2:11already present at the bottom of the
  68. 2:13template now let's see what it looks
  69. 2:15like on the recipients end so let's hop
  70. 2:17over to another tab with one of these
  71. 2:18emails open in the recipients inbox
  72. 2:21scroll down and click that unsubscribe
  73. 2:24link this is what unsubscribing
  74. 2:27recipients see at the top it'll show the
  75. 2:29mail subscriptions that the recipient
  76. 2:31belongs to along with the one they just
  77. 2:33unsubscribed from below that ODU informs
  78. 2:37them that they've successfully been
  79. 2:38unsubscribed from the mailing list they
  80. 2:40can choose one of the preconfigured opt
  81. 2:42out reasons to let us know why they made
  82. 2:44this decision I'll show you more about
  83. 2:46those in just a moment these opt out
  84. 2:48reasons are useful because we can use
  85. 2:50their selected reasons to learn how to
  86. 2:52avoid additional unsubscriptions from
  87. 2:53happening in the future if they're over
  88. 2:56just everything and want to Blacklist
  89. 2:58themselves they could click the excl
  90. 2:59exclude me button to have their email
  91. 3:01address added to the blacklist which
  92. 3:03prevents any further Communications from
  93. 3:05reaching their inbox you'll notice that
  94. 3:07once this is clicked ODU informs the
  95. 3:10recipient that their email will no
  96. 3:11longer receive any more mailings but if
  97. 3:14they change their mind and think that
  98. 3:15might be too drastic they can click the
  99. 3:18come back button The Blacklist is then
  100. 3:20lifted and their email addresses is
  101. 3:22resubscribed to the previously attached
  102. 3:24mailing list however for this video
  103. 3:27Let's click the exclude me again because
  104. 3:30I want to show you a couple more things
  105. 3:31in the
  106. 3:32database so when we hop back into our
  107. 3:35database and go to configuration and
  108. 3:37select blacklisted email addresses we'll
  109. 3:40find a list of people who've made a
  110. 3:41similar decision including the email
  111. 3:43address we were just
  112. 3:45using and if we click into that email
  113. 3:48address you'll notice that we can
  114. 3:50unblacklist them with this button
  115. 3:52here when we click this unblacklist
  116. 3:55button we're presented with a quick
  117. 3:57popup window where we can enter reason
  118. 4:00for why this new decision has been made
  119. 4:02like let's say they changed their minds
  120. 4:06and then click
  121. 4:07confirm and boom this email address is
  122. 4:10archived from The Blacklist page and
  123. 4:12they're ready to receive emails from us
  124. 4:14again also remember those opt out
  125. 4:17reasons I mentioned before to create or
  126. 4:19modify any of those you'd have to go to
  127. 4:22configuration then select opt out
  128. 4:25reasons here you can even change the
  129. 4:27order of how they appear on the mailing
  130. 4:29subscriptions page page to edit one
  131. 4:31you'd simply click it and change it to
  132. 4:33whatever reason you'd like or click new
  133. 4:36to create a new
  134. 4:37one and let's create a new one and the
  135. 4:40reason is other
  136. 4:44reason and then we can also tick the
  137. 4:46checkbox to allow feedback meaning they
  138. 4:48can select the opt out reason and
  139. 4:51elaborate on why they're making their
  140. 4:53decision for even more in-depth analysis
  141. 4:56and if we go back to the opt out reasons
  142. 4:58page via the breadcrumbs
  143. 5:01we'll find our new Option at the bottom
  144. 5:03of the list and like I mentioned we can
  145. 5:05select the icon on the left and drag it
  146. 5:08anywhere on the list like the very tippy
  147. 5:10top for example perfect and there you
  148. 5:13have it OD doers that's how you quickly
  149. 5:15and easily manage unsubscriptions and
  150. 5:18blacklisted emails with Odo email
  151. 5:20marketing application see you next time
  152. 5:22my party people
