  1. 0:00If you clicked on this video, your mic
  2. 0:01probably sounds very bad or you want to
  3. 0:03make your current mic sound a lot better
  4. 0:05than it does now. In this video, I'll go
  5. 0:07over the microphone and software to get
  6. 0:10the best audio for content creation.
  7. 0:12I personally use a Shure SM7B, but that
  8. 0:15is a $500 microphone. And for this
  9. 0:18video, FIFINE have sent me over their
  10. 0:21AM8 dynamic microphone, which is only 50
  11. 0:23bucks. And for what you get, this is
  12. 0:25really good. Let's get into it. All you
  13. 0:27got to do is just plug it in. And now
  14. 0:29we're on the AM8 dynamic microphone.
  15. 0:32Keep in mind, there's still stuff to do,
  16. 0:35but this is how it sounds like out of
  17. 0:37the box when you just plug it in. And
  18. 0:39honestly, it sounds pretty good.
  19. 0:40Something to keep in mind is look at the
  20. 0:42polar pattern of the microphone. If you
  21. 0:45buy the same one, it's on the box right
  22. 0:47here. For some mics, you might need to
  23. 0:48search it on the internet. This is a big
  24. 0:50thing that people skip and get it wrong.
  25. 0:52Here's why it's important. A polar
  26. 0:54pattern shows where your mic will sound
  27. 0:56the clearest. On the sides, it will
  28. 0:57sound not as good, as you can tell. And
  29. 1:00then if you speak in it from the back,
  30. 1:02it will just be really bad. So, make
  31. 1:04sure you speaking into the front of your
  32. 1:06microphone. There's also buttons on the
  33. 1:08thing, which is gain and headphone
  34. 1:10volume. I just usually like to leave it
  35. 1:12at 50/50. And also, I'm not plugging in
  36. 1:14my headphones into the mic, but if you
  37. 1:16do that, it's fun to mess with. Also,
  38. 1:18there's a button for customizing the
  39. 1:19lights on it, so.
  40. 1:21All right, so next up, what you're going
  41. 1:23to need is Wave Link 3.0. This is
  42. 1:25currently the best software for audio
  43. 1:27for content creators. Download it. Once
  44. 1:30you have it downloaded, set up your
  45. 1:31output device and input device. Yours is
  46. 1:33not going to look like this. Yours is
  47. 1:34going to look very empty. And yours
  48. 1:36might not even have this mic, but all
  49. 1:38you got to do is just go to create
  50. 1:40channel and it will be right here in
  51. 1:42inputs. Now, here's a whole new world
  52. 1:44for you, but right now I'm just going to
  53. 1:46focus on the microphone. What you want
  54. 1:48to do first is get to the marketplace.
  55. 1:50Don't worry, you won't have to spend a
  56. 1:51dime. Get these three plugins, the noise
  57. 1:54removal, the EQ, and the compressor.
  58. 1:58These three will turn your mic from
  59. 2:00sounding like from an absolute newbie
  60. 2:01mic to sounding [music]
  61. 2:03something really good. And I'm going to
  62. 2:05explain what each does in a second. Once
  63. 2:07you do that, go into here and add your
  64. 2:09effect. You can see I've already added
  65. 2:11mine, so I'm just going to switch to the
  66. 2:15FIFINE mic now and I'll explain what
  67. 2:17each of these does right now. Noise
  68. 2:18removal basically does what it says. You
  69. 2:20You're going to hear my fans are going
  70. 2:22to stop being in the background right
  71. 2:24now.
  72. 2:25Now you only hear mostly my voice, and
  73. 2:26that's good. You don't need any
  74. 2:27background noise. You don't need your PC
  75. 2:29fans to be on. You don't need your cat
  76. 2:31eating in the background to be heard.
  77. 2:32Here's settings you can mess with by
  78. 2:34yourself. I don't recommend it if you're
  79. 2:35starting out. EQ, turn it on. This is
  80. 2:38what I have here. You can copy my
  81. 2:40settings, but most of this is going to
  82. 2:42be specific for your voice. You can copy
  83. 2:45mine, but it's not going to sound as
  84. 2:47good as mine, if you know what I mean.
  85. 2:49You're going to have to like mess around
  86. 2:50with these, but with the Elgato EQ, it's
  87. 2:53good cuz you see the frequencies are
  88. 2:54divided. the rumble, sub bass. This is
  89. 2:57the warmth. This is the boxy stuff. You
  90. 2:59don't want the boxy stuff and you don't
  91. 3:01really want the nasal stuff. This is
  92. 3:03what it would sound like without me
  93. 3:04cutting out those frequencies, and this
  94. 3:06is it with. You don't want those, too.
  95. 3:07Presence you want, warmth you want, but
  96. 3:09boxy and nasal and sub bass, avoid
  97. 3:12those. And then, compressor. Now, once
  98. 3:14you get into the setting, Elgato can do
  99. 3:16it for you, which you should accept.
  100. 3:19It's
  101. 3:20really good. But if you want to compress
  102. 3:21it yourself,
  103. 3:23uh you can do that by just dragging this
  104. 3:25along. Uh I don't recommend going
  105. 3:27anywhere over -30,
  106. 3:31cuz this is what it sounds like. And uh
  107. 3:33yeah, just keep it below -30, I'd say.
  108. 3:37Okay, so I just edited the footage down,
  109. 3:39but this is really messing with me. So,
  110. 3:42basically, you heard me being cut in and
  111. 3:44out, and that's because of this
  112. 3:46threshold. If you're being cut out like
  113. 3:49me every once in a while, then lower
  114. 3:51this. It will it will add more
  115. 3:54background noise, but it will not cut
  116. 3:57you in like abruptly like it was doing.
  117. 3:59So, mess with this and then you should
  118. 4:01be fine. And now you should have a very
  119. 4:02good sounding microphone. And now listen
  120. 4:04to the difference of before adding the
  121. 4:07plugins and now after adding the
  122. 4:08plugins. Also, one thing I should have
  123. 4:10mentioned in the start, make sure the
  124. 4:12gain is set to a level that doesn't go
  125. 4:14over the red line or even the yellow
  126. 4:16line cuz as you'll hear when you get
  127. 4:18over it, it's really bad. I'm sorry
  128. 4:20about that, but yeah. Yeah, that's kind
  129. 4:22of the end for this video. If you need
  130. 4:25any help with audio, be sure to join my

  139. 4:43So, yeah.
